Jay & Jorrie, Thank you so much for your beautiful testimonial. IBMT Tours

IBMT was very reliable & professional

Sara was extremely accommodating in helping us plan our tour with a few extra days added on the end, She took care of the flights, car rental etc. The representative was waiting for us in Tel Aviv & helped us when our luggage didn't arrive. The group itself was a total of 18 people which was just the right size. Would definitely trust IBMT to book our next vacation.

Just returned from an amazing 14 day…

Just returned from an amazing 14 day Grand Classic Israel and Eilat! From my first phone call to Sara everything was perfect! This was my first tour as I am usually an independent Traveler. I can’t imagine not having a tour guide in Israel. Ours was fantastic! Michael was so knowledgeable about the sites, the country and everything in between. We covered a lot and it was nice to have several free days and nights! The hotels were beautiful and in great locations! I enjoyed the Kibbutz guest house as it’s a huge part of Israel. All transportation was very reliable and comfortable. The included meals were also very good! I would highly recommend IBMT to anyone who is looking to travel to Israel.

Great Bar Mitzvah Tour

We took a bar mitzvah tour December 23, 2018 for my son’s Bar Mitzvah. Ornan and his staff were very professional and responsive while planning the trip. Ada answered ALL of our questions leading up to the trip. She answered all of our emails efficiently. Our transfers to and from the hotel were seamless. Our tour guide, Natalie, was fantastic!! She was an encyclopedia or information about everything Israel. She was fun, energetic and went above and beyond to ensure that we had a great time. The hotels were very nice with nice amenities and amazing buffet breakfasts. The itinerary was a perfect mix of culture, history and fun. We brought our 9 year old and 12 year old and they both had a great time. The experience was everything we had hoped that it would be. We made good friends with the other families on the trip and the kids became close as well and continue to keep in touch. Now that we had a taste of all that Israel has to offer, we can’t wait to go back!!

IBM

Let’s get personal

Traveler and guest marketing in the Cognitive Era

Table of Contents

  • Beyond loyalty programs: Why engaging today’s travelers requires more than just collecting data
  • Meeting customers along their buying journey
  • From data to action: Getting personal in 3 steps
  • You’re already investing in promotional offers. How successful are they?
  • Travel the cognitive road to better returns and results

ibm tour and travels photos

Let’s start with a staggering statistic: by the year 2020, about 1.7 MB of new information will be created every second, for every human being on the planet. 1

What does that mean to your business? With so much structured and unstructured data available and growing, what do you really know about your customers? For example:

  • How well do you know the travelers who take your flights or book rooms at your hotel properties? What are their preferences and what are they saying on social media about where they like to stay for business or pleasure?
  • Can you send them the right offer at the right time and make promotional changes on the fly based on their unique needs?
  • Are you connecting with today’s connected travelers? Do you have the analytical insights to get them on your property in good weather or bad?

Answering these questions requires a deep understanding about real-time promotions. It takes cognitive systems and predictive customer intelligence. It takes IBM.

Keeping track of loyal customers and rewarding them with discounts and offers have always been key in the travel, transportation and hospitality industries. But in today’s always-on, global, value-conscious and competitive market, traditional loyalty programs are no longer enough.

It’s time to get personal. Use all the cognitive tools currently available—machine learning, natural language, social media and analytics—to form a single, continually evolving and real-time view of each and every customer. Then use that view to adopt a new level of engagement—a critical transformation as the travel industry undergoes dramatic changes.

How do you reach out to travelers and guests at the right time with the right offer? You need the deep insight that comes from cognitive systems—smart systems that can identify, in real time, consumer patterns and sentiment from a host of data sources so you can construct a dynamic profile of each and every traveler. Without that insight or dynamic understanding of why, how and where your guests search, visit and travel, it will be increasingly difficult to capture market share against competitors, generate much-needed affinity revenue or drive higher occupancy rates.

3 key shifts in the travel and hospitality marketplace

ibm tour and travels photos

Consumers now possess greater control over their travel choices.

  • 24x7 access to information is the norm wherever travelers go.
  • 70% of millennials say they want an immersive experience when traveling and want to learn something new. 2

Many of today’s travelers, especially millennials, create their own travel packages, often on the fly: 49 percent of millennials booked at least one last-minute trip in the past 12 months , according to research from MMGY Global. And they’re using all channels—mobile, web, travel agents—to source information and book their trips. How well are you tuned into the multichannel approach taken by today’s connected travelers?

ibm tour and travels photos

The industry is experiencing tremendous growth in mobile travel bookings and purchases.

  • 52% of millennials use mobile devices to book hotels. 3
  • 50% of millennials said they planned to spend more on travel in 2015. 4
  • 94% of leisure travelers and 97% of business travelers bring along one or more mobile devices. 5

People are taking more trips. They’re using a growing variety of services and websites to make travel arrangements. And they’re taking multiple mobile devices along with them. Even in the middle of their vacation, they can sign up for skydiving lessons or a wine tasting in seconds by using their smartphone or notebook.

ibm tour and travels photos

Competition is increasing and sales channels are proliferating.

  • 2/3 of customers have made a purchase in the last six months that involved multiple channels. 6
  • Millennials typically review 10 sources before booking a hotel. 7

What’s more, competition is exploding. In almost every major location, travelers and guests have more choices than ever for lodging, restaurants, excursions and activities, all available at the touch of a button or with a simple voice command. Additionally, the rising trend in consumer-to-consumer (C2C) accommodations is dramatically changing the hospitality industry. In this highly competitive environment, the competitive edge is analytics.

Planning and taking a trip involve a lot of decisions, many involving some level of research, often on different devices over the course of days or weeks. Social media can play a big part: 83 percent of surveyed consumers say they completely or somewhat trust the recommendations of friends 8 —recommendations they often get from Facebook, Twitter or other social sources.

The buying journey can span a whole series of mobile, web and phone sessions to read reviews, check schedules, explore side trips, bookmark options or make reservations. That gives you great opportunities to engage the customer with personalized, real-time offers at timely points on this journey to achieve the best possible action. Be ready to change offers based on real-time analysis of actions taken by the travelers. Did they just search for eco-friendly lodging? Jump in with a relevant suggestion and discount.

Case in point: Kayak or cruise?

ibm tour and travels photos

As a local travel agency, you know that one of your customers, a 23-year-old male traveler, likes adventure travel, donates to environmental causes and enjoys eating local foods. How do you know this? From his natural language selections, social media queries, past travel choices, charitable contributions and other data. Based on the insights you’ve gained about this customer, and the dynamic profile you’ve built leveraging cognitive systems, you’re not going to offer a leisurely 14-day river cruise. Your analysis predicts that this traveler would prefer to kayak, zip line and end the day at a craft brewery. He might even like a behind-the-scenes tour to take part in the brewing process. Now you can send an affinity offer best suited to him based on your predictive customer intelligence work. And you can send it at the start of May just as he is thinking about summer vacation plans.

This ability to predict and personalize is at the heart of cognitive analytics. Over time, cognitive systems provide deeper, more personal insight based on new information, actions and outcomes. They learn.

Making relevant offers that are personalized and delivered in real time based on actual insight is critical. But how do you do it? Here are key steps for improving marketing with deep analytics, cognitive thinking and predictive intelligence.

ibm tour and travels photos

Step 1: Construct a single 360-degree view of the traveler or guest.

You have to know a customer inside your property and outside in the world at any given moment. Get information from internal and external sources, including social media networks, to give your predictive analytics and cognitive efforts a deep foundation to draw on. Leverage that 360-degree knowledge to deliver multichannel, multidimensional promotional campaigns. Use instantaneous predictive intelligence to give customers a seamless, responsive experience across all channels—digital, face-to-face and mobile.

ibm tour and travels photos

Step 2: Create a real-time behavioral profile.

Build a DNA roadmap that is unique to each specific customer. Tap into all the critical data and cognitive sources of information to help you continually assess who this person is and the choices he or she will make. For example, does the person place high importance on technology? Over 70 percent of millennials have said that the availability of free Wi-Fi plays a role in their hotel choice. 9 Is the prospective customer vacationing with a family and small children? Free breakfasts, babysitting services and local amusement park discounts may be the deciding factor.

ibm tour and travels photos

Step 3: Make the moment count.

Things change, especially the weather. That’s why it is important to deliver promotional discounts and offers in real time. During the 2014 snowstorms that hit the northeastern United States, data showed travel to warmer climates increased 27 percent for destinations including Hawaii, Mexico and the Caribbean. 10 Tapping into the weather analytics can put a profitable silver lining even on an impending storm.

300 percent ROI on a customer winback program. That’s the success realized by a hospitality group in New York City—one of the most competitive markets in the world—after deploying IBM® Customer Analytics software. 11

With IBM Customer Analytics, your business can:

  • Understand behavioral profiles and predict future behavior to pinpoint offerings a customer is most likely to accept
  • Identify which customers to target with specific campaigns, and when
  • Predict lifetime customer value and reverse-engineer your offers to reach high-potential guests and others like them
  • Establish omnichannel visibility and coordination of all engagements
  • Reach a new generation of customers and win their loyalty
  • Drive revenue, grow the business and increase market share

It’s all about prediction and personalization. And by 2018, some predict that organizations that offer personalization will outsell companies that don't personalize by 30 percent . 12

What success sounds like

If your analysis and marketing are right, your guests will feel understood and valued. Here's a real-world example: watch and learn how the Denihan Hospitality Group and the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens used a 360-degree view of their customers to improve loyalty and revenue.

Ratings and Reviews

Great app for memoir of journey.

Discovering TTW was a real surprise, as I've always wanted to create a photo timeline of my travel experiences! The photo timeline generated by TTW is amazing. Looking at each photo, feels as if it was just yesterday. What's even better is that you can select your own city of residence, and the timeline will automatically filter accordingly. Well done!

A record was broken ahead of the Memorial Day weekend for the number of airline travelers screened at U.S. airports, the Transportation Security Administration said Saturday.

More than 2.9 million travelers were screened at U.S. airports on Friday, surpassing a previous record set last year on the Sunday after Thanksgiving, according to the transportation security agency.

In Atlanta, the world's busiest airport had its busiest day ever. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport broke a traffic record on Thursday when 111,000 passengers, airlines crew and airport employees were screened at security checkpoints. The second busiest day followed on Friday when 109,960 people were screened, according to the TSA.

U.S. airlines expect to carry a record number of passengers this summer. Their trade group estimates that 271 million travelers will fly between June 1 and August 31, breaking the record of 255 million set last summer.

AAA predicted this will be the busiest start-of-summer weekend in nearly 20 years, with 43.8 million people expected to roam at least 50 miles from home between Thursday and Monday — 38 million of them taking vehicles.

The annual expression of wanderlust that accompanies the start of the summer travel season is happening at a time when Americans tell pollsters they are worried about the economy and the direction of the country.

In what had long been celebrated every May 30 to honor America’s fallen soldiers, Memorial Day officially became a federal holiday in 1971, observed on the last Monday in May.

Jason Redman, a retired Navy SEAL who fought in Iraq and Afghanistan, told The Associated Press last year that he honors the friends he’s lost. Thirty names are tattooed on his arm “for every guy that I personally knew that died.”

IBM, Travelport Build Future of Travel Planning on Blockchain

October 24, 2018 | Written by: Mike Croucher

ibm tour and travels photos

We’ve been looking at blockchain and its potential use cases in travel and in our analysis earlier this year, we proposed that storing traveler identity records or trip management on blockchain is still more than five years away [2] .

Before we get into the details of what we’ve been looking at, it’s important to understand the why .

The world around us is changing rapidly. We live in a fast-paced, digital-first era in which instant satisfaction and peer approval are highly valued. Millennials (those currently aged 22 to 37) plan to spend 35-days each year travelling [3] and 40% prioritize ‘Instagramability’ when choosing a destination [4] . This means travel companies need to provide rich, differentiated and immersive experiences which garner those all-important likes across social media.

These rich experiences also need to be provided in a seamless, single booking. Although the supply chain within travel is often fractured, travelers increasingly want to be able to manage their trip with ease and simplicity. It’s especially challenging when you look at in-trip tours and activities. Local cookery or language lessons, Segway tours and gallery passes are often part of an Instagram-worthy trip, but they need to be procured from small, in-destination suppliers and paid for in local currency.

Bringing these types of in-trip activity into a travel platform like Travelport’s could enable the seamless, single-transaction booking experiences we know customers want, but managing the complexity of large numbers of small scale suppliers has historically been a barrier. This is why we’ve been testing the concept that ‘long tail content’ could be efficiently managed using blockchain, with our technology partner, IBM.

The IBM Blockchain Platform has broken barriers in speeding up the processing of transactions to advance blockchain for businesses. It provides the ability to put a smart contract across a distributed ledger. By implementing a smart contract, settling payments or carrying out other functions within the network, the technology significantly lowers the processing time since it manages diverse ledgers across multiple companies in a way that removes manual processing. The other benefit is that you are also adding transparency to the system across all parties in the travel network, meaning travelers have greater levels of trust in the service they are buying.

The proof of concept study Travelport and IBM carried out early in 2018, suggested blockchain distribution could be effective for management of long-tail content. This means you can add a whole list of long-tail content into a travel platform like ours for a greatly reduced price point. The blockchain network will allow the operator to upload bookings and work through any administrative tasks, rather than manually managing the tasks – a normally expensive element of any travel transaction. It will also help manage diverse ledgers across multiple companies in a way manual processes couldn’t deliver.

The next exciting step for IBM and Travelport, which is well underway, involves building a minimum viable product and testing the proved concept with a broader range of stakeholders. This should help fight the industry’s challenge surrounding delays for smaller providers onboarding content and deliver the type of speed and seamless experience we know all travelers, especially millennial travelers, expect from their travel suppliers.

Using blockchain to provide this experience is a value-adding deployment of this new technology. With IBM, we’re removing barriers that limit travel choice, to deliver the world of experiences we know today’s travelers want.

Dozens of passengers on 12-hour-long flight suddenly fell ill with vomiting and nausea

ibm tour and travels photos

Passengers onboard a Condor flight from Mauritius to Frankfurt, Germany, earlier this month mysteriously “ became ill ,” needing airsick bags during the flight, the airline said. Upon arrival, the plane was met with emergency vehicles and medical staff.

During the Germany-based carrier’s nearly 12-hour-long flight on May 2, 70 of the 290 passengers reported feeling nausea and vomiting, according to German media outlet Bild . The crew was not affected.

“The crew cared for these passengers by providing additional liquids and airsick bags as required until further medical assistance was available,” a spokesperson for the airline told USA TODAY in an emailed statement on Friday.

“As a precautionary measure, Frankfurt airport and the relevant authorities on the ground were informed to ensure medical care was made available upon arrival in Frankfurt,” the airline continued.

The airline is investigating to determine the cause of the incident and is working closely with relevant partners and authorities, the spokesperson said. No cause was identified as of Friday.

In the meantime, Condor said it has adjusted its cleaning and loading processes for its flights from Mauritius with “additional and more intensive cleaning measures for all objects and surfaces.” The airline also said it is only serving meals from a completely new batch.
