DROPKICK MURPHYS And RANCID Announce Co-Headlining 'Boston To Berkeley II' U.S. Tour

DROPKICK MURPHYS and RANCID will hit the road together for the first time since 2017 for the co-headlining "Boston To Berkeley II" tour with special guests THE BRONX on most dates. The U.S. trek — which was originally scheduled for May of 2020 — runs from August 10 to October 16 and will also feature festival appearances by DROPKICK MURPHYS and RANCID at Riot Fest in Chicago on September 18 and Aftershock in Sacramento on October 8.

Tickets for the "Boston To Berkeley II" tour go on sale Friday, June 18 at 10:00 a.m. local time in most markets. The final band of the night will vary by date, with either DROPKICK MURPHYS or RANCID as the closing act.

RANCID 's Tim Armstrong said: "Looking forward to hitting the road with the DROPKICK MURPHYS again for the second edition of our 'Boston To Berkeley' tour. Our good buddies THE BRONX will be joining us on tour as well. See ya in the pit!"

DROPKICK MURPHYS ' Ken Casey said: "Can't wait to get back out there and kick the touring door open again. This is a great lineup and we are gonna take the country by storm."

RANCID and DROPKICK MURPHYS have a long and important history together. Back in 1997, RANCID 's Lars Frederiksen came across a copy of DROPKICK MURPHYS ' original EP at a friend's house. He turned it over to his bandmate and Hellcat Records president Tim Armstrong , who quickly snatched up the band for his new label.

Emerging from the blue-collar swamps of Berkeley, California, RANCID has now been a living, breathing punk rock band for over a quarter century. Back in 1991, after the demise of their much-beloved first band, OPERATION IVY , founding members Tim Armstrong (vocals, guitar) and Matt Freeman (bass, vocals) decided to do the impossible — start an even better band. Thus, RANCID . Signing with Epitaph Records , the band released their first album, "Rancid" , in 1993. Shortly thereafter, Lars Frederiksen (vocals, guitar) joined the band, because…well, are you going to tell him he can't? The result, in 1994, was "Let's Go" . In 1995, RANCID released the classic platinum-selling "...And Out Come The Wolves" . They followed with the even more ambitious "Life Won't Wait" in 1998, and in 2000, RANCID released another album titled "Rancid" , just to see if anyone was paying attention. After "Indestructible" in 2003, Branden Steineckert (drums) joined to solidify RANCID 's current lineup. They subsequently released the albums "Let The Dominos Fall" (2009) and "Honor Is All We Know" (2014). And out now is another immediate classic "Trouble Maker" (2017).

DROPKICK MURPHYS proudly remain Boston's rock 'n' roll underdogs turned champions. Since 1996, the boys have created the kind of music that's meant to be chanted at last call, in packed arenas, and during the fourth quarter, third period, or ninth inning of a comeback rally. Their celebrated discography includes four consecutive Billboard top 10 album debuts (2021's "Turn Up That Dial" , "11 Short Stories Of Pain & Glory" , "Signed And Sealed In Blood" , "Going Out In Style" ),along with 2005's gold-selling "The Warrior's Code" featuring the near-double platinum classic "I'm Shipping Up To Boston" . Whether you caught a legendary gig at The Rathskeller (The Rat) under Kenmore Square, found the band by taking the T to Newbury Comics to cop "Do Or Die" in '98, discovered them in Martin Scorsese 's Academy Award -winning "The Departed" , or saw 'em throw down at Coachella (or one of hundreds of other festivals),you've become a part of their extended family. DROPKICK MURPHYS ' music has generated half a billion streams, they've quietly moved eight million-plus units worldwide and the band has sold out gigs on multiple continents. In 2020, the band was one of the first to embrace streaming performances, starting with their "Streaming Up From Boston St. Patrick's Day" virtual performance. It was followed by last year's landmark "Streaming Outta Fenway" livestream, which drew more than 5.9 million viewers and held the No. 3 spot on Pollstar 's "Top 2020 Livestreams" chart. DROPKICK MURPHYS ' "St. Patrick's Day Stream 2021...Still Locked Down" , was No. 1 on Pollstar 's Livestream chart for the week ending March 22, 2021, logging over one million views.

DROPKICK MURPHYS is: Al Barr (lead vocals), Tim Brennan (guitars, accordion, mellotron, whistles, vocals), Ken Casey (lead vocals, bass guitar), Jeff DaRosa (banjo, bouzouki, mandolin, harmonica, acoustic guitars, vocals), Matt Kelly (drums, percussion, vocals), James Lynch (guitar, vocals), Kevin Rheault (touring bassist) and Lee Forshner (touring bagpipe player).

Dropkick Murphys & Rancid Announce “From Boston To Berkeley Tour”

  • March 7, 2017

Rancid and Dropkick Murphys have announced the co-headlining From Boston To Berkeley Tour, kicking off July 27 in Bangor, ME and wrapping August 26 in Southern California. The initial tour dates, cities and venues are listed below, with additional details to be announced in the coming weeks. Each night will culminate with Rancid and Dropkick Murphys on stage together for a joint encore.

The Bouncing Souls and Jake Burns open the July 27 – August 9 shows and The Selecter and Kevin Seconds open from August 11 – 26.

Tickets for most shows go on sale on sale Friday, March 10 at www.DropkickMurphys.com and www.RancidRancid.com , starting at 10:00 AM local time unless noted otherwise.

Check out the official From Boston To Berkeley Tour video below.

Rancid and Dropkick Murphys have a long and important history together. Back in 1997, Rancid’s Lars Frederiksen came across a copy of Dropkick Murphys’ original EP at a friend’s house. He turned it over to his bandmate and Hellcat Records president Tim Armstrong, who quickly snatched up the band for his new label.

“Rancid is looking forward to hitting the road with our brothers the Dropkick Murphys,” says Rancid’s Tim Armstrong. “We will end the night with DKM and us playing songs together. Look out for The Bouncing Souls, The Selecter, Kevin Seconds and Jake Burns to be on certain shows. SEE YA IN THE PIT!”

Rancid’s Lars Frederiksen says, “It’s a long time coming with these two bands touring together. There is so much history between both of us that it should make for a great tour. We look forward to seeing all of our friends and family out there.”

Dropkick Murphys’ Ken Casey comments, “This is a dream come true for Dropkick Murphys. Hopefully all the people coming to the shows will feel the same way. Rancid gave us our break – Tim signing us to his label, Lars producing our early albums…so much history and great memories. Now, literally sharing the stage together every night. This tour is going to destroy all others this summer!!!!”

The roots of Rancid are traceable back to Operation Ivy at 924 Gilman Street in Berkeley, CA. circa 1987. After Operation Ivy broke up, Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman went on to form Rancid. In 1993, they signed with longtime producer, and label founder, Brett Gurewitz of Bad Religion and Epitaph Records, who would stay on with the band for the next 20 years as the band’s producer. Rancid (Tim Armstrong, Lars Frederiksen, Matt Freeman, Branden Steineckert) has stayed independent. They have their own independent booking agent, they’re on an independent record label, Hellcat/Epitaph, and they make their own t-shirts. 2017 will see the release of Rancid’s ninth studio album.

Dropkick Murphys are touring in support of their 11 Short Stories Of Pain & Glory album, released through the band’s own Born & Bred Records earlier this year. The album debuted at #8 on the Billboard Top 200 and was the #1 independently released album. There’s a feeling of purpose throughout the album, influenced by the band’s work with The Claddagh Fund, a charity the band established in 2009 to help support addiction recovery as well as children’s and veterans’ organizations. Dropkick Murphys–Al Barr, Tim Brennan, Ken Casey, Jeff DaRosa, Matt Kelly, James Lynch–are hands-on in raising funds, mentoring, and lending a helping hand with veterans, youth sports, and drug and alcohol rehabilitation. Many of the songs reflect these experiences, and the band’s sadness, anger and dismay at the opiate epidemic ravaging the country – in particular, Boston and New England — and also their feeling of pride and optimism at the sight of those who have turned their lives around. Dropkick Murphys have become ambassadors for their city. In Boston, it seems like everybody knows someone connected to the band whether by blood, friendship, or the time they shared a brew at a Bruins game. They’ve built a legacy that does Beantown proud.

Dropkick Murphys and Rancid will hit the road together for the first time since 2017, for the co-headlining Boston To Berkeley II Tour with special guests The Bronx on most dates. The U.S. trek--which was originally scheduled for May of 2020--runs from August 10 - October 16 and will also feature festival appearances by Dropkick Murphys and Rancid at Riot Fest in Chicago on September 18 and Aftershock in Sacramento on October 8.

Tickets for the Boston To Berkeley II Tour go on sale Friday, June 18 at 10:00 AM local time in most markets. The final band of the night will vary by date, with either Dropkick Murphys or Rancid as the closing act. Visit www.DropkickMurphys.com and www.RancidRancid.com for more details and to purchase tickets.

Rancid's Tim Armstrong said, "Looking forward to hitting the road with the Dropkick Murphys again for the second edition of our Boston To Berkeley Tour. Our good buddies The Bronx will be joining us on tour as well. See ya in the pit!"

Dropkick Murphys' Ken Casey said, "Can't wait to get back out there and kick the touring door open again. This is a great lineup and we are gonna take the country by storm."

Rancid and Dropkick Murphys have a long and important history together. Back in 1997, Rancid's Lars Frederiksen came across a copy of Dropkick Murphys' original EP at a friend's house. He turned it over to his bandmate and Hellcat Records president Tim Armstrong, who quickly snatched up the band for his new label.

Emerging from the blue-collar swamps of Berkeley, California, Rancid has now been a living, breathing punk rock band for over a quarter century. Back in 1991, after the demise of their much beloved first band, Operation Ivy, founding members Tim Armstrong (vocals, guitar) and Matt Freeman (bass, vocals) decided to do the impossible - start an even better band. Thus, Rancid. Signing with Epitaph Records, the band released their first album Rancid in 1993. Shortly thereafter, Lars Frederiksen (vocals, guitar) joined the band, because...well, are you going to tell him he can't? The result, in 1994, was Let's Go. In 1995, Rancid released the classic platinum-selling ...And Out Come The Wolves. You still remember when you first heard it. They followed with the even more ambitious Life Won't Wait in 1998, and in 2000, Rancid released another album entitled Rancid, just to see if anyone was paying attention. After Indestructible in 2003, Branden Steineckert (drums) joined to solidify Rancid's current lineup. They subsequently released the albums Let The Dominos Fall (2009) and Honor Is All We Know (2014). And out now is another immediate classic, Trouble Maker (2017).

Dropkick Murphys proudly remain Boston's rock 'n' roll underdogs turned champions. Since 1996, the boys have created the kind of music that's meant to be chanted at last call, in packed arenas, and during the fourth quarter, third period, or ninth inning of a comeback rally. Their celebrated discography includes four consecutive Billboard top 10 album debuts (2021's Turn Up That Dial, 11 Short Stories Of Pain & Glory, Signed and Sealed in Blood, Going Out In Style), along with 2005's gold-selling The Warrior's Code featuring the near double platinum classic "I'm Shipping Up To Boston." Whether you caught a legendary gig at The Rathskeller (The Rat) under Kenmore Square, found the band by taking the T to Newbury Comics to cop Do Or Die in '98, discovered them in Martin Scorsese's Academy Award-winning The Departed, or saw 'em throw down at Coachella (or one of hundreds of other festivals), you've become a part of their extended family. Dropkick Murphys' music has generated half-a-billion streams, they've quietly moved 8 million-plus units worldwide and the band has sold out gigs on multiple continents. In 2020, the band was one of the first to embrace streaming performances, starting with their Streaming Up From Boston St. Patrick's Day virtual performance. It was followed by last year's landmark Streaming Outta Fenway livestream, which drew more than 5.9 million viewers and held the #3 spot on Pollstar's "Top 2020 Livestreams" chart. Dropkick Murphys St. Patrick's Day Stream 2021...Still Locked Down, was #1 on Pollstar's Livestream chart for the week ending March 22, 2021, logging over 1 million views. Dropkick Murphys is: Al Barr (lead vocals), Tim Brennan (guitars, accordion, mellotron, whistles, vocals), Ken Casey (lead vocals, bass guitar), Jeff DaRosa (banjo, bouzouki, mandolin, harmonica, acoustic guitars, vocals), Matt Kelly (drums, percussion, vocals), James Lynch (guitar, vocals), Kevin Rheault (touring bassist) and Lee Forshner (touring bagpipe player).

NOFX Detail Final Concerts: Dropkick Murphys, Descendents, Pennywise to Open

By Kory Grow

After kicking off a long goodbye tour last year, NOFX will play their final concert this fall in Southern California. The group will sunset its four-decade career with a three-night stand — Oct. 4, 5, and 6 — supported by a who’s who of punk and hardcore bands. Dropkick Murphys, Descendents, and Pennywise will all perform with the band at San Pedro’s Berth 46. The dates, officially the Punk in Drublic Fest, conclude what NOFX have called the Final Tour: 40 Years, 40 Cities, 40 Songs Per Day.

Other bands set to perform at the concerts, on two stages with no overlapping set times, include MxPx, Bouncing Souls, Sick of It All, Less Than Jake, Lagwagon, and the Vandals. NOFX personally curated the lineups for each date.

Tickets are available now via the Punk in Drublic website .

The group kicked off its final tour last April. Upcoming dates , which begin later this month in Portland, Oregon, include two-night stands in Denver, Edmonton, Montreal, and Boston. At these dates, the band is playing at least 40 songs each, including deep cuts. They’re also ensuring that each set list is unique so there is no overlap. They are also scheduled to perform during all three days of Chicago’s Riot Fest, which takes place Sept. 20-22 at SeatGeek Stadium.

NOFX Final Shows To Feature Dropkick Murphys, Descendents, Vandals

NOFX are going out in a big way. Fun fact: Vandals’ Joe Escalante was Fat Mike’s camp counselor and introduced him to punk music in the early 1980s.

The day-by-day lineups are as follows:

Friday, Oct. 4: NOFX, Dropkick Murphys, MxPx, Bouncing Souls, Sick of It All, 7 Seconds, DOA, D.I.,  Luicidal, the Last Gang, KnuckleHeadz

The San Pedro shows wrap NOFX’s final tour, billed as “40 Years, 40 Cities, 40 Songs Per Day.” The world tour kicked off in 2023 and has encompassed 40 completely different shows, with B-sides, rarely performed songs and complete albums played throughout. NOFX will also be on hand for all three days of Riot Fest in Chicago in late September.

"We've played over 2000 shows in 33 countries, in more than 300 cities and darn it … we're a bit tired," Fat Mike said at the time of the farewell tour’s announcement. "One thing I know in my heart … this is going to be the most emotional, heartbreaking, greatest tour of our career. I've never been so excited and at the same time terrified. Mostly excited…"

Boston To Berkeley II Tour with Rancid (UPDATED)

(Updated June 14, 2021) – We have reannounced this tour!

(Updated: May 7, 2020) Dropkick Murphys and Rancid are family. Our fans are part of our family. As unfortunate as this is for all of us, we have decided it is in everyone’s best interest that we cancel our Boston To Berkeley II tour. We thank all of our fans that bought tickets and those working in live events for their hard work putting this tour together. Please look out for an email from your local promoter with ticket refund options. We will continue to monitor this situation in hopes to bring this back better than ever in 2021. Until then, stay safe and take care of one another.

UPDATED: April 15 2020 Hey everyone!!

With everything that’s going on in the world right now, we are sad to say that our May tour can’t go on as planned.

We were so looking forward to sharing the stage with our good pals Rancid again and both Dropkicks and Rancid were so excited to be having Gerry Cinnamon with us for his first US tour and Jesse Ahearn back with us after he crushed it on our last European tour.

We are working with all of the promoters to figure out a plan for rescheduling the dates. Keep an eye out for an email from your local concert promoter with an update on how they will handle refunds for those who need their money back.

When all of this clears up, we are looking forward to seeing all of you out on the road – we are so lucky to have the greatest fans in the world !!

Until then, we hope that you and your families are staying safe and healthy.

Love, Dropkick Murphys
