Going on a cruise is a dream for many people. The breathtaking ocean views, luxurious amenities, and exciting on-board activities make for a truly memorable experience. However, the cost of a cruise can sometimes be a deterrent for those on a budget. Luckily, there are ways to get discounts on Carnival cruises, allowing you to embark on your dream vacation without breaking the bank.

Whether you’re a seasoned cruiser or it’s your first time setting sail, finding the best deals can make a significant difference in your overall cruise experience. In this article, we will explore various strategies that will help you secure Carnival cruise discounts and save money on your next voyage.

Before diving into the tips, it’s important to note that securing a discount doesn’t mean sacrificing on quality. Carnival Cruise Line is known for its exceptional service, diverse itineraries, and a wide range of entertainment options. By utilizing these strategies, you can take advantage of discounts while still enjoying all the perks and amenities that Carnival cruises have to offer.

So, whether you’re planning a family vacation, a romantic getaway, or a solo adventure, read on to discover how you can score Carnival cruise discounts and make your dream cruise a reality.

Researching Deals

When it comes to getting Carnival cruise discounts, the first step is thorough research. By dedicating some time to search for the best deals, you can save a significant amount of money on your cruise booking.

Start by visiting the official Carnival Cruise Line website. They often have special promotions and limited-time offers that you can take advantage of. Look for any discounted rates or package deals that suit your travel preferences.

In addition to the Carnival website, explore other travel websites and online travel agencies. Websites such as Expedia, Travelocity, and Kayak often offer competitive prices and exclusive deals on Carnival cruises. Compare prices across multiple sites to ensure you’re getting the best possible price.

One useful tip is to sign up for newsletters and email alerts from both the official Carnival website and various travel websites. This way, you’ll receive notifications about upcoming deals and promotions directly to your inbox.

Another avenue to explore is social media. Follow Carnival Cruise Line on platforms like Facebook and Twitter to stay updated on any flash sales or last-minute discounts they may offer. Additionally, join online cruise communities and forums where fellow cruisers share their experiences and offer advice on finding the best deals.

Lastly, don’t underestimate the power of word-of-mouth. Talk to friends, family, and coworkers who have been on Carnival cruises before. They may have insider tips or know about special discounts that could help you save on your booking.

Remember, the key to researching deals is being proactive and staying informed. By exploring multiple sources and keeping an eye out for promotions, you’ll be well on your way to finding the best Carnival cruise discounts available.

Booking Early

One of the most effective ways to secure Carnival cruise discounts is to book your trip well in advance. By planning ahead and making your reservation early, you can take advantage of early bird offers and discounted rates.

Carnival Cruise Line often incentivizes early bookings by offering reduced fares, onboard credits, or free upgrades. These promotions are typically available for a limited time, so it’s essential to keep an eye out for any early booking deals on the official Carnival website or through travel agencies.

Booking early not only grants you access to discounted rates but also provides you with a wide variety of cabin options. As the cruise ship fills up, the availability of certain cabin types may become limited, and prices may increase. By securing your spot early, you have a better chance of choosing the cabin category that suits your preferences and budget.

In addition to discounted rates and cabin availability, booking early also allows you to plan your trip well in advance. You can take your time researching shore excursions, pre-booking specialty dining experiences, and arranging any necessary travel accommodations. This level of preparation gives you peace of mind and ensures that you can make the most out of your Carnival cruise experience.

Keep in mind that booking early doesn’t mean you have to pay the entire cost upfront. Most cruise lines, including Carnival, offer flexible payment plans that allow you to put down a deposit at the time of booking and pay the remaining balance closer to your departure date.

Overall, booking your Carnival cruise well in advance not only secures discounted rates and preferred cabin options but also gives you the opportunity to plan your trip with ease. Take advantage of the early bird promotions, compare prices, and secure your spot on the cruise ship to ensure a memorable and cost-effective vacation.

Last-Minute Deals

If you have a flexible schedule or are open to spontaneous travel, last-minute deals can be a fantastic way to score Carnival cruise discounts. Cruise lines often offer significant savings on unsold cabins in the weeks leading up to the departure date.

To find last-minute deals on Carnival cruises, start by checking the official Carnival website or contacting a travel agent. They may have a dedicated section or a newsletter that showcases any discounted rates for upcoming sailings.

In addition to the official website, explore online travel websites and cruise-specific deal websites. Sites like Cruise Critic and Vacations To Go often have a “Last-Minute Deals” section where you can find discounted Carnival cruises with departure dates within the next few months.

It’s important to note that last-minute deals are typically available for select sailings and cabin categories. If you have specific preferences or requirements, such as a particular itinerary or cabin type, you may have to be more flexible to take advantage of these discounts.

While last-minute deals can offer significant savings, it requires being ready to book and travel at short notice. Keep in mind that flights and other travel arrangements may also need to be arranged quickly, so it’s essential to have some flexibility with your schedule.

Another tip is to set up price alerts on travel websites or sign up for email notifications. This way, you’ll be notified when discounted rates become available for specific Carnival cruises that match your desired travel dates.

If you’re comfortable with spontaneity and have the flexibility to travel on short notice, last-minute deals can be an excellent way to enjoy a Carnival cruise at a fraction of the cost. Keep an eye on the deals, be prepared to book quickly, and get ready for an exciting and affordable vacation.

Traveling During Off-Peak Seasons

One of the most effective ways to secure Carnival cruise discounts is to travel during off-peak seasons. Off-peak seasons are periods when there is less demand for cruises, resulting in lower prices and more attractive promotions.

Typically, peak seasons for cruises are during school holidays, summer months, and major holidays like Christmas and New Year. By choosing to sail during less popular times, such as shoulder seasons or weekdays, you can often find significant savings on Carnival cruises.

Traveling during off-peak seasons not only offers discounted rates but also provides a more relaxed and less crowded cruise experience. You’ll have more space to enjoy the ship’s amenities, shorter lines for popular activities, and a generally more peaceful atmosphere.

Additionally, during off-peak seasons, you may have a better chance of scoring upgrades or special perks. With fewer passengers on board, cruise lines may offer cabin upgrades or onboard credits to entice more bookings.

To find out the best off-peak seasons for Carnival cruises, consult the official Carnival website or speak to a travel agent. They can provide insights on the quieter periods and any specific promotional offers available during those times.

It’s important to note that while traveling during off-peak seasons can be more affordable, it may require some flexibility in your travel dates. Be prepared to adjust your schedule to take advantage of the discounted rates and promotions.

Overall, traveling during off-peak seasons allows you to enjoy Carnival cruises at lower costs while enjoying a more relaxed and intimate cruise experience. Take advantage of the quieter periods, plan your trip accordingly, and get ready for a memorable and cost-effective voyage.

Taking Advantage of Loyalty Programs

If you’re a frequent cruiser or plan on taking multiple Carnival cruises in the future, it’s worth considering joining the Carnival loyalty program. Carnival offers a loyalty program called “VIFP” (Very Important Fun Person) that provides various perks and discounts to repeat cruisers.

By signing up for the VIFP program, you can earn loyalty points for each cruise you take with Carnival. These points accumulate over time and unlock different membership levels, each offering exclusive benefits and discounts.

As a VIFP member, you’ll receive benefits such as priority check-in and boarding, special onboard events, discounts on spa treatments and specialty dining options, and even complimentary cabin upgrades, depending on your membership level.

The higher your loyalty level, the more generous the benefits become. For example, as a Diamond or Platinum member, you may enjoy perks like a free seven-day cruise or dedicated concierge services.

In addition to the rewards and benefits, members of the VIFP program receive early access to promotions and discounted rates. These exclusive discounts can significantly reduce the cost of your Carnival cruise.

To join the VIFP program, simply visit the Carnival Cruise Line website and sign up for free. You’ll automatically start earning points on your first cruise, and your membership benefits will grow as you continue to sail with Carnival.

Even if you’re new to Carnival cruises, don’t miss the opportunity to create a VIFP account. It’s never too early to start earning points and reaping the benefits of loyalty programs.

So, if you plan on embarking on multiple Carnival cruises or want to maximize your benefits and discounts, be sure to enroll in the VIFP program. Start accumulating points and enjoy the perks of being a valued member on your future adventures at sea.

Group Discounts

If you’re planning to travel with a group of family members, friends, or colleagues, you may be eligible for group discounts on your Carnival cruise. Group discounts can provide significant savings and additional perks for everyone in your party.

Carnival Cruise Line offers group rates for groups that typically consist of at least 16 passengers. The exact group size required may vary, so it is best to check with Carnival or your travel agent for the specific requirements.

Group discounts can vary depending on factors such as the size of the group, the chosen sailing, and the accommodation preferences. In addition to lower fares, Carnival may offer additional perks for groups, such as onboard credits, complimentary upgrades, or exclusive group activities.

To take advantage of group discounts, it’s crucial to coordinate with the group leader or organizer. The group leader will be responsible for communicating with Carnival or the travel agent, providing the necessary information, and securing the group booking.

If you’re not part of an existing group, you can consider joining a group cruise organized by a travel agency or a social group. These organized group cruises often offer special discounts, group activities, and the opportunity to connect and socialize with like-minded individuals.

Keep in mind that group rates and discounts are subject to availability and may require booking well in advance. It’s advisable to start planning and making arrangements as early as possible to secure the best rates and ensure a smooth and enjoyable group cruise experience.

So, if you’re traveling with a group of people, whether it’s a family reunion, a wedding celebration, or a corporate retreat, be sure to explore the group discount options offered by Carnival Cruise Line. By booking as a group, you can enjoy significant savings and create unforgettable memories together.

Booking Through Travel Agents

When it comes to securing the best Carnival cruise discounts, working with a travel agent can be highly beneficial. Travel agents have access to exclusive deals, promotions, and industry knowledge that can help you find the best prices and options for your Carnival cruise.

Travel agents specialize in cruise bookings and have relationships with cruise lines like Carnival. They are familiar with the available promotions, discount codes, and hidden savings that may not be easily accessible to the general public.

By booking through a travel agent, you can tap into their expertise and experience. They can guide you through the booking process, provide personalized recommendations, and help you navigate any complexities or questions that may arise.

Furthermore, travel agents often have access to bulk-buying options, allowing them to negotiate better rates on cabins and packages. They can pass on these savings to you, ensuring you get the most value for your money.

Another advantage of booking through a travel agent is the convenience they offer. They can handle all the details and logistics, including arranging flights, transfers, and pre- and post-cruise accommodations. This saves you time and effort, allowing you to focus on preparing for your cruise.

When selecting a travel agent, choose one with experience in cruise bookings and a good reputation. Ask for recommendations from friends, family, or fellow cruisers, and read reviews to ensure that you’re working with a reliable and trustworthy agent.

Once you’ve chosen a travel agent, communicate your preferences, budget, and any specific requirements you have for your Carnival cruise. They will use their expertise to find the best deals and options that align with your needs.

While working with a travel agent may come with a small booking fee, the savings and expertise they provide can outweigh the cost. Ultimately, you’ll have peace of mind knowing that you’re getting the best possible deal and that your booking is taken care of by a knowledgeable professional.

So, if you prefer having the support and expertise of a dedicated professional, consider booking your Carnival cruise through a travel agent. They can help you secure the best discounts, navigate the booking process, and ensure a smooth and enjoyable cruise experience.

Monitoring Special Promotions and Sales

When searching for Carnival cruise discounts, it’s essential to stay up-to-date with special promotions and sales. Carnival regularly offers limited-time promotions, flash sales, and exclusive discounts that can help you save money on your cruise booking.

To ensure you don’t miss out on any offers, it’s crucial to monitor the official Carnival Cruise Line website regularly. They often feature special promotions on their homepage or have a dedicated “Special Offers” section where you can find discounted rates, reduced deposits, or onboard credit incentives.

In addition to the Carnival website, sign up for their newsletter or email alerts. This way, you’ll be among the first to know about any new promotions or discounts. These newsletters often contain exclusive deals that are not available to the general public.

Furthermore, follow Carnival Cruise Line on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. They frequently announce flash sales or limited-time promotions that can provide significant savings on select sailings. By staying connected, you’ll be alerted to any time-sensitive deals.

Another useful strategy is to subscribe to travel deal websites and newsletters. Websites like Travelzoo, Cruise Critic, and Vacationstogo.com regularly feature cruise deals and promotions, including those from Carnival Cruise Line. By signing up for their alerts, you’ll receive notifications about discounted rates and special offers directly in your inbox.

Remember that these promotions usually have a limited availability, so it’s important to act quickly. Once you find an offer that fits your travel plans and budget, don’t hesitate to book before it expires or sells out.

Lastly, don’t forget to compare prices and do your research. Even if you come across an enticing promotion or special offer, it’s worth checking other travel websites and agencies to see if they are running similar deals or have additional incentives.

By actively monitoring special promotions and sales, you can take advantage of the best Carnival cruise discounts available. Stay vigilant, sign up for newsletters, and be ready to book when a deal that suits your needs arises.

Checking for Military or Senior Discounts

If you are a member of the military or a senior, you may be eligible for special discounts on Carnival cruises. Carnival Cruise Line offers exclusive pricing and benefits for these groups, allowing you to save even more on your cruise vacation.

For active, retired, and honorably discharged members of the U.S. military, Carnival offers special military discounts. These discounts can be applied to select sailings and can provide significant savings on the cruise fare for you and your immediate family members.

To take advantage of the military discount, you will need to provide proof of eligibility, such as a valid military ID or other documentation. It’s important to check the specific requirements and eligibility criteria outlined by Carnival Cruise Line.

In addition to military discounts, Carnival also offers special rates for seniors aged 55 and older. These senior discounts can be applied to a range of sailings and can provide substantial savings on your cruise fare.

Similar to the military discount, you will need to provide proof of age to qualify for the senior discount. Valid identification documents, such as a driver’s license or passport, may be required.

Both military and senior discounts can be applied during the booking process. When booking your Carnival cruise, inform the booking agent or enter the relevant discount code online to ensure the discount is applied to your reservation.

It’s important to note that military and senior discounts are subject to availability and may have restrictions or blackout dates. It’s advisable to book early and check for any additional terms and conditions associated with these discounts.

If you belong to either of these groups, make sure to take advantage of the special discounts available to you. Carnival Cruise Line values and appreciates the service and contributions of military members and seniors, and these discounts are a way for them to show their gratitude.

So, if you’re eligible for military or senior discounts, don’t forget to inquire about these special rates when booking your Carnival cruise. It’s a fantastic opportunity to save even more and enjoy a memorable vacation at an affordable price.

Utilizing Online Travel Websites

When it comes to finding Carnival cruise discounts, online travel websites can be a valuable resource. These websites offer a wide range of options and competitive prices, allowing you to compare and find the best deals for your Carnival cruise.

Popular travel websites such as Expedia, Travelocity, Kayak, and Orbitz often feature Carnival cruises in their offerings. They provide an easy-to-use platform where you can explore different sailing dates, cabin categories, and itineraries.

By utilizing these online travel websites, you gain access to a variety of features and benefits. These platforms allow you to filter and customize search results based on your preferences, such as departure port, duration of the cruise, or specific ship amenities.

In addition to comparing prices, online travel websites often have partnership agreements with cruise lines and can offer exclusive promotions and discounts. This can result in significant savings on your Carnival cruise booking.

One advantage of using online travel websites is the ability to read customer reviews and ratings. You can gain valuable insights from fellow cruisers who have experienced Carnival cruises and learn about their experiences, recommendations, and any tips they may have regarding discounts and deals.

Furthermore, these travel websites often offer user-friendly interfaces that allow you to easily compare prices, check cabin availability, and view detailed itineraries. This makes the booking process efficient and convenient.

It’s important to note that while online travel websites are a fantastic resource, it is still advisable to cross-check prices and promotions with the official Carnival Cruise Line website. Sometimes, Carnival may have exclusive deals or offers that are not available through third-party websites.

When using online travel websites to book your Carnival cruise, be sure to pay attention to any additional fees, cancellation policies, and booking terms. It’s essential to read the fine print and fully understand the terms and conditions before making your reservation.

So, if you’re looking for convenience, options, and competitive prices, utilizing online travel websites is a great way to find Carnival cruise discounts. Take advantage of these platforms to compare prices, read reviews, and ultimately book your dream vacation at a cost-effective rate.

Considering Cabin Upgrades

When booking a Carnival cruise, considering cabin upgrades can be a great way to enhance your experience while still potentially saving money. Upgrading your cabin can provide added comfort, additional amenities, and sometimes even exclusive perks.

Carnival offers various cabin categories, ranging from interior cabins to suites, each offering different features and price points. While the initial pricing may vary, it’s worth exploring the possibilities of upgrading to a higher category.

One option for upgrading is to select a higher deck or a location closer to the ship’s amenities. This can provide convenience and quicker accessibility to the various onboard activities, dining venues, and entertainment options.

Another consideration is upgrading to a cabin with a balcony, as it offers breathtaking views and a private space to relax. The fresh ocean air and the ability to enjoy breakfast or a sunset from your own balcony can significantly enhance your cruise experience.

Additionally, some higher-category cabins may come with special perks such as priority boarding, access to exclusive lounges, or even complimentary specialty dining experiences. These added benefits can enhance your overall cruise experience and provide extra value for the cost of your upgrade.

When considering a cabin upgrade, it’s important to balance your budget and priorities. Determine what aspects are most important to you during your cruise and consider how much you are willing to invest in an upgraded cabin.

To explore cabin upgrade options, either consult the official Carnival website or speak with a travel agent. They can provide details on the different cabin categories available, their features, and the associated costs.

Keep in mind that cabin upgrades are subject to availability, and the cost may vary depending on the sailing date and demand. If you have specific cabin preferences or are looking to upgrade to a particular category, it’s advisable to book early to increase your chances of securing the desired upgrade.

Ultimately, cabin upgrades offer the opportunity to enhance your Carnival cruise experience by adding extra comfort, amenities, and exclusive perks. Consider your priorities and budget, compare the options available, and make an informed decision on whether a cabin upgrade is right for you.

By implementing these strategies, you can enjoy all the luxury, entertainment, and relaxation that Carnival Cruise Line offers, while still saving money and creating lifelong memories.

Gayle Morris, MSN

Taking time off from work, vacationing, and traveling makes you more productive at work. However, in the current economic climate, vacations may take more from your paycheck than you’d like to give up. Many vacation and travel businesses offer discounts for nurses that help our frontline workers to relax and enjoy their time off. Consider these redeemable travel deals for nurses as you make holiday travel plans. Some require you to verify your ID through a third party.

11 Top Carnival Cruise Deals You Don’t Want to Miss

If there is anything better than a cruise, it’s getting a great deal on that trip. And if you’re looking for a deal, then Carnival is one of your best options.

Funnel on Carnival Celebration.

The cruise line is well-known for offering a lot of value, specifically with cruise fares that are generally lower than the competition. If you know what to look for, then you can hunt down trips that offer some ridiculously low pricing.

That’s why we searched Carnival’s schedule out more than a year from now to scout some of the most attractive deals in a variety of categories. From the least expensive cruises overall to great deals on cruise itineraries you don’t see every day, this list should give you a good idea of what sort of offers are out there.

How to Find Your Own Cruise Deal on Carnival

While we have a number of ideas below, if you want to find your own Carnival cruise deal then you can search Cruise Critic for deals here . To help narrow things down, we do have some suggestions on how to find the best offers.

Sail Older Ships The biggest and newest ships get lots of buzz and publicity, but they also generally carry a higher price tag. That’s why if cost is a major factor for you, then look for cruises on older ships. Generally you can find similar cruises, but for less than taking a trip on the newest ship.

Sail When Kids Are in School Below, you may notice that many of the best deals sail in the fall. That’s not a coincidence. If you search, you’ll find that there’s a correlation between cruise prices and the school year. Sail during the summer, Christmas holidays, or Spring Break, and fares will be higher than sailing times like the fall or winter.

Price Doesn’t Mean Value One final thing to consider is that just because a price is low doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the best value. In fact, we cover a number of cruises below that DON’T have the lowest prices. Yet, they are unique due to some characteristic of the trip that make them a compelling cruise.

Cheapest Overall Carnival Cruise for 2023

Carnival Conquest in Miami

  • Date: October 9, 2023
  • Ship: Carnival Conquest
  • Ports: Miami, Nassau
  • Price: $194

If inexpensive is what you’re going for, as we go to press it doesn’t get any cheaper than this. The cruise aboard Carnival Conquest from Miami is only three days, helping keep the price low. An interior cabin on the October 9, 2023 sailing starts at just $194 per person.

The trip itself is as basic as it gets, going from Miami to Nassau and back. Still, if you want to take a cruise and not spend a lot of money, this is one of your best options. It’s also one of your best options if you’re wanting to let loose as the short trip and low cost should lead to a festive atmosphere. Learn more about this cruise here .

Cheapest Overall Carnival Cruise for 2024

  • Date: September 30, 2024
  • Ports: Miami, Half Moon Cay, Nassau
  • Price: $179

When it comes to the least expensive cruise of 2024, you have several itineraries to choose from at $179 per person for an interior room, but they are all aboard the Carnival Conquest sailing from Miami. We chose this trip because it is four days with two port stops, including the Half Moon Cay private destination.

This particular cruise departs in late September, heading to The Bahamas. Other trips at this price point include a three-day cruise to Nassau, and a four-day cruise with stops at Princess Cays and Nassau. Learn more about this cruise here.

Most Interesting Itinerary

  • Date: August 22, 2024
  • Ship: Carnival Panorama
  • Ports: Los Angeles, Ketchikan, Sitka, Icy Strait Point, Kushiro, Aomori, Yokohama
  • Price: $2,069

If you want a cruise that’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience, this trip fits the bill. In fact, it’s essentially two cruises in one. First, you’ll sail from LA to Alaska with three ports of call and sailing the Endicott Arm. We’re big fans of sailing Alaska and consider it a must-see.

But that’s only the first part of the cruise. From there, you’ll head to the Far East, crossing the international date line before three more ports of call in Japan. This includes Kushiro in the northern part of the country and Aomori, followed by Yokohama, just outside of Tokyo.

And in an unusual move for these sort of lengthy trips, the cruise is aboard Carnival Panorama — one of the newer ships in the fleet. Learn more about this cruise here .

Most Expensive Carnival Cruise of 2024

  • Date: April 1, 2024
  • Ship: Carnival Luminosa
  • Ports: Brisbane, Guam, Okinawa, Yokohama, Seward, Juneau, Ketchikan, Seattle
  • Price: $3,449

It makes sense that Carnival’s most expensive trip is also its longest, but on a per day basis it’s actually a decent deal considering the experience. This month-long cruise repositions from Australia to Seattle. It will feature lots of time at sea as you cross the Pacific but also feature stops in amazing places.

From Brisbane you’ll visit Guam, five different ports of call in Japan, crossing the date line, then a cruise through Alaska including stops in Seward, Juneau, and Ketchikan, before finishing up in Seattle.

The price tag is high — nearly $3,500 per person for an interior cabin. But on a per-day basis, that comes out to just a shade over $100. Learn more about this cruise here .

Best Deal on a New Ship

carnival cruise discounts for nurses

  • Date: September 7, 2024
  • Ship: Carnival Jubilee
  • Ports: Galveston, Mahogany Bay, Costa Maya, Cozumel
  • Price: $599

If you want to sail the nicest, newest ships then you normally have to pony up some cash. As a rule of thumb, newer ships have higher price tags to sail. After all, there’s normally strong demand for a new ship.

But with Carnival, there are still opportunities to sail with a great deal. In this case, Carnival Jubilee (which debuts in late 2023) will sail from Galveston on September 7, 2024 on a 7-day cruise. You can get aboard this cruise for just $599 per person for an interior cabin.

The round trip cruise has stops in Mahogany Bay (Carnival’s private port in Roatan), Costa Maya , and Cozumel before returning home. There’s a lot to do on this ship, so being able to sail for a week will give you time to get it all done. Learn more about this cruise here.

Best Deal for an Alaskan Cruise

  • Date: May 7, 2024
  • Ship: Carnival Spirit
  • Ports: Seattle, Skagway, Juneau, Ketchikan, Victoria
  • Price: $699

When it comes to cruises, trips to Alaska should be a bucket-list item. Given the remoteness and size of this part of the country, a cruise offers the best way to see the most in a relatively short period of time. However, these cruises are usually more expensive than similar length Caribbean trips.

We found this deal, however, that represents the least expensive Alaska cruise of 2024. Starting at $699 per person for an interior cabin, the cruise takes you from Seattle to Skagway, Juneau, Ketchikan, and Victoria (Canada) before returning home. That’s a line-up of classic ports in this part of the country that shouldn’t be missed. Learn more about this cruise here.

Cheapest 7-Day Cruise of 2023

  • Date: September 23, 2023
  • Ports: Los Angeles, Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlán, Cabo San Lucas
  • Price: $439

If you’re wanting a deal on a vacation this year, then check out this 7-day cruise from Los Angeles (technically Carnival sails from Long Beach). The cruise aboard Carnival Panorama is for seven nights and takes you to all the hotspots on the Pacific side of Mexico.

You’ll visit Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, and Cabo San Lucas, and don’t forget days at sea to work on your tan. From LA it’s a classic itinerary that shouldn’t be missed. And while the price isn’t as cheap as the lowest fares of 2024, it’s still a strong deal. Learn more about this cruise here.

Cheapest 7-Day Cruise of 2024

carnival cruise discounts for nurses

  • Date: September 8, 2024
  • Ship: Carnival Magic
  • Ports: Miami, San Juan, Amber Cove, Grand Turk
  • Price: $369

If you want inexpensive but also want to cruise more than three or four nights, this is the least expensive 7-night cruise we found for all of 2024. The cruise aboard Carnival Magic departs Miami, headed to the eastern Caribbean.

From there you’ll have stops in San Juan, Amber Cove (Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic), and Grand Turk , along with some time at sea just to relax and enjoy the sunshine.

At $369 for an interior cabin, that comes out to just about $50 per person, per day to sail on what is a great itinerary. Learn more about this cruise here.

Great Deal From Galveston

  • Date: September 15, 2024
  • Ship: Carnival Dream
  • Ports: Galveston, Costa Maya, Belize, Cozumel
  • Price: $399

September is a great time for cruise deals as kids are back in school, meaning lower demand from families to sail. Meanwhile, the weather is still warm so you can enjoy getting some sun and water even before you reach the Caribbean.

In this case you can do just that on a 6-night cruise from Galveston. The trip aboard Carnival Dream stops in Costa Maya, Belize, and Cozumel. And the deal runs just $399 per person for an interior cabin, or about $65 per day. Learn more about this cruise here.

Great Deal From Port Canaveral

Carnival Vista docked in Roatan

  • Date: October 13, 2024
  • Ship: Carnival Vista
  • Ports: Port Canaveral, Half Moon Cay, Grand Turk, Amber Cove

A great deal on a fall cruise is this trip that departs Port Canaveral in mid-October. Depart from the Orlando area and you’ll have stops at Half Moon Cay (Carnival’s private destination), Grand Turk, and Amber Cove.

And this trip won’t set you back much. An interior cabin starts at just $369 for nearly a week on the ship. Plus, it’s aboard Carnival Vista. This ship isn’t the newest, but was built just a few years ago as the start of the Vista class, Carnival’s second largest style of ship. That means it has all the latest features you’d expect on a Carnival ship. Learn more about this cruise here.

Great Deal From Jacksonville

  • Date: November 2, 2024
  • Ship: Carnival Elation
  • Ports: Jacksonville, Nassau, Princess Cays
  • Price: $209

Finding a cruise that’s under about $75 a night is a decent deal. Under $50 is (nearly) unheard of. This trip comes in at just around $40 per day .

For that price there are some trade-offs. First, it sails from Jacksonville which isn’t as busy a port as Miami or Port Canaveral. As well, it’s on Carnival Elation, which is one of the oldest ships in the fleet.

Even so, the price tag is too tempting to pass up. The cruise will take you south to Nassau and Princess Cays for literally the price of visiting a nice steakhouse for two. Learn more about this cruise here.

I didn't realize that they did give EMS discounts. I'm a Paramedic and Have been for over 20 years and I have never gotten a discount. Maybe I should check though. It may because of 9/11. It seems that several places offer this type of discount, not saying that nurses shouldn't get it also, but im just thinking that this may be the reason. Nurses are great!

Best Carnival cruise ships: Here’s which ship you should sail, based on your travel style

Choosing a Carnival cruise ship is no simple task, especially if you're new to cruising. As one of the largest cruise brands in the world, Carnival Cruise Line has more than two dozen vessels in its fleet, offering everything from megaship adventures to smaller-ship experiences. Many variables — price, embarkation dates, travel companions, ship size and amenities, and destination — can shape the way you make your choice.

So, what is the best Carnival cruise ship? Here are my picks for the top options in several categories.

Mardi Gras: Best Carnival cruise ship for families

carnival cruise discounts for nurses

The best Carnival cruise ship for kids is undoubtedly Mardi Gras . Not only is it one of Carnival's newest vessels, but it's also one of the largest, and it has tons of activities to keep families with children busy.

At the expansive kids club, daily programming includes scavenger hunts, arts and crafts, and video games. The club draws in young cruisers and gives them space to make friends and play with peers. Beyond the dedicated kids facilities, the ship has a massive arcade and many top-deck diversions. One of these is the Ultimate Playground — a space encompassing a ropes course, waterslides and Bolt, the first-ever roller coaster at sea . (Note that the arcade and Bolt cost extra.)

Mardi Gras is full of fantastic family-friendly dining, including the line's Dr. Seuss-themed Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast (for a small fee). The ship also includes pizza, soft-serve ice cream, Shaq's fried chicken and Guy Fieri burgers in its fares. Even the pickiest of eaters will be satisfied. Kids can order off special menus in the complimentary main dining rooms and join in their waiters' rollicking dance performances just when they start to get antsy sitting still.

The ship also does a nice job of accommodating families of all sizes and budgets. Many of Mardi Gras' standard cabins sleep at least four people, and the ship offers connecting cabins.

Its Family Harbor staterooms provide access to a special family lounge area with TVs, sitting areas and internet stations. Breakfast is offered there each morning, and snacks and drinks — including free soda — are provided throughout the day. So, you never have to go far when the kids need a snack. Cabins in the Family Harbor category feature a nautical theme, plenty of storage and space to sleep at least four people.

Mardi Gras' new sister ship, Carnival Celebration, is also a fantastic option in this category, offering a nearly identical experience (with just a few changes in the names and themes of specific venues).

Carnival Horizon: Best ship for luxury lovers

carnival cruise discounts for nurses

Let's be clear: Carnival is not a luxury cruise line, nor does it offer huge suites on most ships. The suites it has are smaller than most other brands' high-end accommodations, and they do not include amenities like butler service.

With that in mind, one ship that offers slightly more exclusive options is Carnival Horizon — the second vessel in Carnival's three-ship Vista class. It offers a top-deck, adults-only Serenity sun deck area; an extensive menu of spa treatments, salon services and fitness classes at the onboard Cloud 9 Spa; and a handful of upmarket cabin offerings.

If you're into wellness, relaxation and self-care, check out the spa and fitness center's manicures, pedicures, facials, massages, teeth whitening treatments, acupuncture, anti-wrinkle procedures, state-of-the-art cycling classes, thermal suite, hot tubs, saunas and steam rooms for a fee. For digs that include pampering, try a Cloud 9 Spa cabin to receive extras like complimentary thermal suite access and two free yoga or Pilates classes.

If exclusive stateroom enclaves are what you seek, you'll want to book one of the ship's Havana Cabana cabins. They come in several varieties, from 185-square-foot insides to Havana Suites, which offer 260 square feet of interior space (with a dividing wall to separate sleeping and living areas), plus a 100-square-foot patio area with loungers and a hammock. All Havana Cabana cruisers get access to an exclusive lanai and pool deck. With a suite booking, you'll also receive priority embarkation and disembarkation.

If a traditional suite is more your style, consider a Grand Suite, which includes priority embarkation, disembarkation and dining times, as well as access to the Havana pool area. Note, however, that Grand Suites run only 345 square feet with 85-square-foot balconies — disappointing when you consider some of Royal Caribbean's largest rooms are nearly five times that size.

The only ships on which you'll find larger accommodations are the line's newest: Mardi Gras, Carnival Celebration and Carnival Jubilee, all of which house Presidential Suites. Those accommodations offer 1,120 square feet of space with 600-square-foot balconies and separate living and sleeping areas. However, the ships — part of the line's Excel Class — are so large and attract so many families that I've ruled them out as the most luxurious.

Carnival Conquest: Best ship for budget travelers

carnival cruise discounts for nurses

If you're on a budget and simply looking for one of the cheapest Carnival cruise ships, a solid bet is Carnival Conquest. It offers Bahamas and Caribbean voyages of three to five nights. Think of it this way: The shorter the cruise , the less expensive it will be.

Plus, it sails from Miami, one of the world's largest cruise hubs. More ships leaving from a specific port means more competition, which can drive prices lower.

Carnival Conquest is one of the line's oldest ships, but it's also a ton of fun. Because short sailings tend to attract a more lively crowd, passengers can expect lots of dancing, socializing and late nights at Henri's Dance Club. During the day, passengers enjoy spending time around the pool and grabbing free burgers from Guy's Burger Joint.

It's also one of the few vessels left in the fleet that still features jaw-dropping interiors designed by renowned architect Joe Farcus, who made Carnival synonymous with quirky patterns, bright colors and neon lights.

At the time of publication, prices started from $47 per person, per night, for an inside cabin.

Carnival Sunrise: Best Carnival cruise ship for singles

carnival cruise discounts for nurses

Unfortunately, Carnival has been slow to adopt solo cabins, meaning that no ships in its fleet offer accommodations for one.

Because all staterooms are designed for double occupancy, it's generally a rule that a person traveling alone must pay both fares. This means they would pay twice as much per person as two people sharing a room.

Related: The best cruise ships for solo travelers

In order to make the single supplement as affordable as possible, solo Carnival cruisers will want to balance finding an inexpensive vessel with choosing one that sails short itineraries. They'll also probably want one that's a bit livelier (read: not the oldest in the fleet).

A great contender for the title of best Carnival ship for singles is Carnival Sunrise. Formerly Carnival Triumph, the ship was completely gutted, overhauled and renamed in 2019. Although it originally debuted in 1999, it feels fresh and nearly new. It offers the line's signature Serenity adults-only sun deck, RedFrog Pub, Alchemy Bar and a slew of lounges, nightclubs and daily activities.

Combine that with short, affordable voyages from Miami, and you can sail to the Bahamas or Caribbean for four or five nights from as little as $104 per night if you're solo. Short sailings also tend to draw a more fun-loving, social crowd. So, if your goal is to mingle and potentially meet other solo cruisers, you stand a good chance on Carnival Sunrise.

Carnival Pride: Best ship for retirees

carnival cruise discounts for nurses

Retired travelers have all the time in the world to take longer cruises, which generally allow them to visit more far-flung locales. Those trips can come with a substantial price tag, which is why, as a budget option, Carnival is such a great choice.

In particular, Carnival Pride's voyages consist of nine- and 12-night itineraries to the Baltic, British Isles and Iceland on a regular cadence. Longer voyages mean more time to explore but also fewer children and less of a frat party vibe. (Take note if you're thinking of bringing your grandkids.)

Carnival Pride is one of the oldest ships sailing for Carnival. That actually works in its favor if you're a retiree who enjoys smaller ships and vintage design — in this case, more artwork and decor by Farcus.

In addition to a comedy club and an onboard spa, the ship also offers an adults-only sun deck, several bars and lounges, and plenty of dining options and daily activities to stave off boredom on longer voyages.

Bottom line

So, which Carnival cruise ship is the best? It all depends on your specific preferences. Whether you're searching for an inexpensive vacation, a family-friendly vessel or a ship that will take you on a longer voyage to Europe, there's a Carnival cruise to fit your taste and budget.

Carnival passengers push for key perk other cruise lines offer

E very cruise line handles embarkation day (the day you first board the ship) differently. That's even true with brands under the same corporate ownership.

How each cruise line handles luggage and cabin access is a point of contention for many passengers. Every company offers the option of checking your bags and having them delivered to your room.

Related: Carnival Cruise Line shares a strict dining policy

Many people opt for that, but they still hold on to a fairly hefty carry-on. That's because if you check your bags they may not arrive until late afternoon or even early evening.

Many people pack a carry-on with essentials like toiletries and medicine, along with a bathing suit and/or a change of clothes. Some people, of course, don't want to hand their luggage off to the cruise line so they opt to walk it onboard the ship themself.

Depending upon the cruise line, that can mean having to keep your bag or bags with you until 1 or 1:30 p.m. Royal Caribbean and Carnival's namesake brands only allow select passengers access to their cabins before they open. Most passengers have to keep their luggage with them and that creates an unwieldy situation on already-crowded elevators and in the buffet.

Celebrity Cruise, a Royal Caribbean brand, allows all passengers to drop their bags off in their cabin. The cruise line asks that passengers go to their cabin, leave their bags, and then leave so the room attendant can finish their work.

That's a privilege that many Carnival customers would like to see extended to all passengers.

Carnival passengers asked a question

Carnival Cruise Line currently allows select passengers to drop their luggage off in their cabins before they are fully opened.

"Carnival’s Priority Check-in is an exclusive service designed to afford our VIFP Diamond, Platinum, and deluxe suite guests with special embarkation and debarkation privileges on cruises from the U.S. and Europe. Priority Check-in is not offered for Carnival Journeys cruises. Minors traveling with parents who have Priority Check-in in separate staterooms may check in together using this exclusive service," the cruise line shared on its website.

The cruise line's Brand Ambassador John Heald does not seem to understand why passengers want to get onboard and immediately go to their cabins.

"Why do people want to have their cabins ready as soon as they get on the ship? Is it so they can unpack or go for a sleep or use the bathroom or all of the above?" he asked on his Facebook page.

Heald overlooks the idea that people may simply not want to be burdened by their luggage or carry-on. Passengers do have to keep their passports or other needed documents on their person for check-in and many like to put those in a secure location.

"Surely there is so much to see on embarkation day. You get on board the ship, don’t you want to go for something to eat or have a cocktail or go outside and explore? Discussion, please," he added.

Carnival passengers push back

Most passengers made it clear that dropping off their luggage was they key reason they want early access to their cabins.

"So I can put things away like my C-pap machine and not have to worry about lugging it around" shared Richard King.

Variations of that accounted for hundreds, perhaps thousands, of the over 3,300 comments on Heald's post.

"I don't think people necessarily want the cabin ready as much as they just want to drop off their carry-ons. It's very difficult to tote those bags around buffet lines and the crowded, chaotic Lido deck. Being able to drop off the bags is one perk we enjoy on other ships," added Terri Whitaker.

Some passengers would like to be able to occupy their rooms earlier.

"I don’t enjoy the huge crowds stuck on the Lido deck. At embarkation and disembarkation, everyone is crowded into a few areas so it’s nearly impossible to move or relax. During the cruise, people are more spread out. I cruise to chill and relax not to party so if I could get into my cabin and out on my balcony right away I’d be happiest," shared Amanda Comer.

In other cases, people just want a quick chance to freshen up after a long morning of travel.

"We want to drop off luggage mainly but I also want to freshen up, brush my teeth and hair etc. Change clothes possibly if it's hotter than I thought it'd be. Plus, if I'm tired from traveling, I may want to relax a bit before heading out to explore," posted Teresa Oliver Gilbert.
