Among his many awards, Carman received the House of Hope of Humanitarian Award for his positive influence in the lives of American youth in 2006, other noted recipients of this award include Ronald & Nancy Reagan and Billy Graham. The Gospel Music Association honored Carman with induction into the GMA Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 2018. Billboard named Carman “Contemporary Christian Artist of the Year” in 1992 and 1995, and in 1993, his album, Addicted to Jesus, earned the distinction of Contemporary Christian Album of the Year. Carman was Grammy-nominated multiple times as the Best Pop Contemporary Gospel Artist. His recording, “A Long Time Ago in a Land Called Bethlehem” was nominated for “Album of the Year” by the Recording Academy in 1986.

Absolutely fantastic. Our contact at Bamba Experiences was so responsive and helped us in a number of tight spots. On one morning, our tour guide for Chichen Itza never showed up. Bamba immediately called them and worked out another tour day for us. We were blown away. Other than that, the lodgings were very comfortable. Nicer locations were slightly further away from the city centre, however, so I would suggest giving people 2 options for lodgings (and then they can prioritize convenience over ambiance, if they wish). Also, finding an English-speaking clerk at the bus stations (to print our tickets) was a little daunting, so perhaps offering us the chance to pre-print bus tickets before our vacation would be more useful. Other than that, it was great and very well-priced. I will 100% be booking another trip with Bamba again.

Great experience! A lot of cool activities and it is so great to not need to plan anything and stay with great people all the time.

You can still climb the structures but make sure you are up for a workout because while this mega structure is only 95 feet high, it is steep!

Ek Balam is one of the most impressive ceremonial centers of the ancient Mayans. There are unique high-relief sculptures, wall paintings, and decorations. One of the interesting things found here is the temple with a huge “monster mouth” which represents a portal to the underworld to the Mayans.

There was evidence found here that suggest that blood sacrifices were done as part of the ceremonies and rituals done by the priests and nobles. Although there is not much information, archaeologists continue to find more structures and artifacts which illuminate how these ancient people lived.

If you climb to the summit of the major temple, you can even see Coba (30 miles away) on a clear day. If not, you still can say you got a bird’s eye view like an ancient king.

Whale Shark Safari

Playa del Carmen is a jump-off point of water activities and one of the best things you can do here is the Whale Shark Safari Snorkeling Tour .
