Welcome to Kimberley Boat Cruises , a divison of BlueSun Travel and Australia's number one charter boat booking agency.

As the name implies, we are a Kimberley cruise and marine tourism specialist. We work with every charter boat vessel and cruise ship that operates on the Kimberley Coast and we have done this this for nearly twenty years.

Since 2004, we have helped book over 300,000 passengers on boats. More importantly, our experience actually comes from first-hand knowledge working with Kimberley cruise vessels, talking to passengers, listening to crew and assisting skippers. We are not a computerised booking engine that is based offshore. Nor do we just read off brochures. To the contrary, we are the best agency and proud to call Australia home.

Kimberley Boat Cruises is famous for having the most exciting, exclusive and luxurious Kimberley cruises in Western Australia. Our mission is to give you a trip of a lifetime by being with you every step of the way from the moment you make that first call, until you are safely back home. On top of this, we make every effort to give you the best Kimberley cruise prices.

As you can see, we have the largest selection of Kimberley cruise vessels in Australia.

Holiday snap shots from our Kimberley cruise

"...seen amazing aboriginal art, caught fish, smelt the mangroves, listened to the silence, swum in creeks, beautiful beaches, seen wildlife as it should be seen in its natural environment .... The huge tides are awesome and yet due to all your detailed planning and organization they did not impede on a wonderful experience. "

"Exceeded my expectations, wonderful attentive staff, loved every moment."

"One of the best ever holiday experiences. Thankyou for your highly professional guidance and assistance throughout this unforgettable journey."

"No better way to experience and enjoy this magical land, the Kimberley's. Great experience, fantastic staff, wonderful day trips and one we'll sure to recommend to all. Thanks to the Lady M Staff."

"We thank you all so very much for all your wonderful care, passion and knowledge of the history of our awesome Kimberley's. What a wonderful trip we have has with yummy meals daily. You have given us the trip John has only dreamed about."

the Kimberley experience...

Accommodating only 12 guests in en-suite air-conditioned cabins, your Kimberley adventure promises to be an intimate and personal journey.  Our itineraries are adapted daily to suit tides/weather and to avoid the larger passenger vessels arriving at destinations at the same time.  Our guests' comfort and the experience of the "remoteness" of the Kimberley is our priority. The Lady M, a family owned and operated vessel, was designed specifically for the Kimberley to ensure your cruise is as comfortable as possible. The Lady M is one of the larger vessels cruising the Kimberley for the number of guests it accommodates.

We have a cruise to suit your schedule. Choose from the :

12 night Kimberley Extensive is the ultimate Kimberley experience, incorporating most of the highlights of the 7 day cruise plus the magnificent King George River & Falls and the Berkeley River. This cruise travels at a leisurely pace between Broome and Darwin and enables guests to truly unwind and appreciate the Kimberley coast and rivers.

8 night Kimberley Highlights & fly is designed to maximise your Kimberley Highlights in less time so your return to Broome is via a scenic flight from the Mitchell Plateau. This cruise will satisfy your appetite for the Kimberley and includes a helicopter flight over Mitchell Falls on the way to meet the Lady M awaiting your arrival.

7 night Fishing Adventure explores the southern Kimberley region and give guests the chance to test their skills against the mighty Barramundi as well as other species of fish including Trevally, Mackerel, Fingermark Bream, Mangrove Jack and Sailfish.

5 night Rowley Shoals Snorkeling Cruise will allow you to discover the pristine reefs and waters of the beautiful marine park. Be one of very few to enjoy the un spoilt beauty of the Rowley Shoals as there are less than 200 people that visit it each year making it so remote.

Well what can I say…. The trip just blew me away!!! It was such an amazing time and definitely the icing on the cake after my 32nd travel through Australia! The route, the scenery, the combination of boating, boat excursions and heli-flights – all along with the most amazing scenery, hardly any other tourists, the beautiful boat, the amazing lovely knowledgeable crew and the great group of guests – it was almost too much to take in – all of my senses awakened and my heart and soul took in all this beauty and experiences – a once in a lifetime trip! Never seen the Kimberley Coast before, True North made it possible to access remote passages and fiords of the remote western Australian coast line. The on board helicopter was a seamless transport to see the Kimberley coast from above and gave a complete magnification of the journey, as well as permitting access to the remote indigenous cave art consented by local indigenous communities. The Montgomery Reef over 100 kms long is a powerful natural wonder that rises from the sea as the 11 metre tide drops. Both at water level at the Cruise ship and from the helicopter this amazing sight will be my highlight along with the major waterfalls enroute which we encounter as a cooling natural rainfall in the 30 degree daytime. The compact cruise ship True North boasted hotel room comfort. Food was restaurant quality embellished by the catch of the day. I loved the spacious lounge and forward deck. Finally, the major stand out was the genuine staff service culture and friendliness, I think very hard to beat. A genuinely unique experience. Highly recommended. (less)

Words fail us … this trip was breathtaking from the mighty Kimberley to the stunning coral. All capped off by the best crew. Thank you to all!!

The most amazing experience. We have loved every second of our trip. Your crew are exceptional and we could want for nothing. We’ll definitely be back.

Another wonderful trip, thank you to all.

Well above expectations. Just great!

Testimonials

We thoroughly enjoyed our adventures and were thrilled to see the waterfalls flowing so well! Thanks to all of your great crew and we will certainly recommend Odyssey Expeditions to friends and family!

Kind regards

I would just like to say the trip Gillian and I had was simply put, sensational.  The other passengers were great and the crew, Mike, Bob, Ben, Cindy and Jayden were faultless.  I now have to try and remove the 3 kgs that Cindy's fab meals put on.  I will certainly recommend the Odyssey to anyone

Dear Odyssey,

I wish to let you know how wonderfully we were looked after by Cat, Bob, Jayden. Kane and Jesse and others involved in giving us a lifelong experience in the beauty of the Kimberley coast. They went out of their way to make sure that we were safe, happy, yet encouraging us to benefit from the most beautiful places I think I have ever seen, and I have been to many parts of the world. The kindness shown to me personally was beyond the call of duty. Thanks to the captain and each member of the crew I was able to do well beyond my expectations.

Please pass on this message to these lovely people. The beautiful Odyssey experience will remain in our hearts and minds forever.

Our warmest wishes and gratitude go to each and every one of you.

Thank you for the information regarding the photos.

Thanks also to you and your entire team for providing us with a fabulous experience and the chance to make new friends with the passengers, and the crew.

Thanks also for looking after our car and caravan while we were on board.

We really enjoyed the experience of the Kimberley from the ocean made all the more special by the work of the crew on board.

Best wishes to you and all the Odyssey team.

Just a quick note to thank you for looking after Jane and I on our Odyssey adventure. Truly an unforgettable experience that made my 65 th birthday celebration a wonderful memory. Great food, itinerary and company. I’ve already recommended it to our friends who have been keen to find out about our trip.

All the best for the season

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for an outstanding cruise and for the extra care your staff took with Shirley because of her Alzheimer’s. We both had a sensational time and will certainly consider doing one again. We have also recommended it to our friends.

Best wishes to you

The Pearling Coast Itinerary

Each Pearling Coast departure operates round-trip from Broome, traveling along the Southern Kimberley coast as far north as Paspaley’s pearl farm near Kuri Bay.

Route map of Paspaley Pearl The Pearling Coast cruise, round-trip from Broome, with visits along South Kimberley, Australia.

Often referred to as the pearl of North West Australia, Broome is Western Australia’s coastal gateway to the magnificent wilderness region of the Kimberley. It’s also home to the world-famous white sands of Cable Beach, making it one of the State’s most popular holiday destinations. Situated 1,390 miles (2,240 km) north of Perth with a permanent population estimated at 14,436, growing to over 45,000 per month during the tourist season. The ship will be alongside the wharf in Broome.

Paspaley Pearl

Extending from the Dampier Peninsula to the Southern edge of Collier Bay, the 800 islands of the Dampier archipelago and adjacent mainland offer a veritable playground of unique experiences, ideal for exploration by boutique expedition motor yacht. Named after the English buccaneer and privateer William Dampier, the archipelago is regarded as one of the most spectacular island groups in Australia. There are islands listed as Important Bird Areas by Birdlife International, whilst others are home to Western Australia’s largest population of breeding Green Sea turtles. The pristine coastline contains secluded white sandy beaches, mangrove estuaries and spectacular tortured landscapes, providing a geological insight into the formation of this remarkable land.

The region is best known for the iconic destinations of The Lacepede Islands, Yampi Sound, Adele Island and Cape Leveque. Your ship has special access to destinations inaccessible to larger vessels, including Hidden Island, Whirlpool Pass, Sunday Island, Strickland Bay, Tallon Island, Hell’s gate, Edeline and Cascade Bay.

breakfast, lunch, dinner

Located 230 miles (370 km) north of Broome and 286 miles (460 km) west of Kununurra, Kuri Bay lies at the heart of the Lalang – Garram/Camden Sound Marine Park. It was the location of Australia’s first cultured pearl farm and is named after the company’s first principal, Tokuichi Kuribayashi. Today, the clear pristine waters are the home of Paspaley, a leading global producer of cultured pearls. Such is the superior and widely recognized quality of the gems they are in their own category and known simply as “Paspaley Pearls.” Experience a behind-the-scenes guided walking tour of the Paspaley facilities and discover the intricate processes required to produce the most beautiful pearls in the world.

Located in one of the remotest regions of Australia, with no road access and the nearest town over 155 miles (250 km) away, the stunningly rugged Collier Bay and Camden Sound are home to the second largest tides in the world. This ebb and flow of the tide has shaped the ancient landscape into a breathtaking vista and created unique tidal phenomena such as Horizontal Falls (Garaanngaddim).

The region is of cultural significance to the Dambeemangarddee, a saltwater people who have been living along the coast for many thousands of years. Their culture and connection to the environment has evolved with an inherent association to these tidal movements. The rich marine environment is also home to the world’s largest inshore reef system, Montgomery Reef (Yowjab) and each year the world’s largest population of migrating humpback whales visit the region.

The region is best known for the iconic destinations of Horizontal Falls (Garaanngaddim), Montgomery Reef (Yowjab), Raft Point (Ngumbree) and Freshwater Cove (Wijingarra Bard Bard). Your ship has special access to destinations inaccessible to larger vessels, including Sampson Inlet, Hall Point, Red Cone Creek, Sapphire Falls, Ruby Falls, Sale River, Walcott Inlet, Prior Point and Langgi.

KIMBERLEY EXPEDITION CRUISES

Welcome to the otherworldly Kimberley. Tucked along the northwestern corner of Australia, the Kimberley is one of the world’s last wild frontiers, from rugged sandstone peaks and gushing waterfalls, to desert expanses, sunken mangrove forests, and everything in between. Cruise through Montgomery Reef as the tides rush out, leaving sea turtles dotting their heads in its midst. Search for a lustrous, masterfully cultivated pearl on a local pearl farm. Splash through the spray of King George Falls, or take to the skies in an amphibious Mallard aircraft to watch tawny sharks swim below. Better yet, engage with the original land-owning communities and their cultural rites, including guided showings of the unique Gwion Gwion artwork they have curated for centuries.

Crystal-clear waters and gleaming pearls aside, our Kimberely expeditions stand out to guests who want to travel Australia, but also desire to expedition off the beaten path. Whether you are a well-seasoned traveler, wildlife enthusiast, natural history buff, or are simply seeking a new adventure in one of the most pristine places on Earth, experience this unique corner of the world with Seabourn.

The Kimberley Expedition Port Highlights

Included Expedition Experience

King George Falls

Prepare for the highlight of your trip, cruising with our Expedition Team on a Zodiac® to explore the highest twin waterfalls in Western Australia. They will skillfully maneuver the canyon that the river carved nearly 2 billion years ago, flanked by mesmerizing sandstone cliffs, to the thundering 250-foot falls that will plunge into the waters in front of you.

This stop is full of beautiful, secluded beaches and tiny islands to explore. The real draw, though, is seeing the Gwion Gwion or Bradshaw rock art galleries that cover walls and caves in the area. Take a Zodiac® ride to Jar Island to see some of the oldest art in the world. Your Expedition Team will give you an interpretation of the drawings and a look at the fascinating history that accompanies them.

Montgomery Reef

Contemplate the raw transformation of the world’s largest inshore reef as you witness it appear and dip beneath the surface in some of the biggest tidal changes on Earth. As you explore one of the ‘greatest natural wonders of the world’, you’ll search for incredible marine wildlife in their natural habitat from your Zodiac® – dolphins, octopuses, fish, reef sharks, turtles, sea snakes and more.

Talbot Bay Horizontal Waterfalls

Expect the unexpected amongst the spectacular rock formations and lush mangroves. Most waterfalls cascade vertically, but here tides push intense currents between narrow gorges to create a horizontal effect.

Featured Included Shore Excursions

Kuri bay pearl farm, traditional face painting ceremony, seabourn's kimberley expeditions.

boat cruises kimberley coast

We love hearing from guests about their time in Russia and one comment often hear is how surprised people are by the Russian capital. We can’t say for certain what people expected but we do know that it’s always far removed from what they imagined! It’s been called a modern metropolis, a cosmopolitan city, an historic gem, an architectural treasure and a cultural powerhouse, among other descriptions. Majestic Moscow has always surprised our guests and left them with lasting and fond memories.

Russia’s famous Golden Ring is an archipelago of historic towns surrounding Moscow. Uglich is one of the oldest and was founded under Igor, the last Varangian prince. It once resisted the Mongol invasion and its ancient walls saw the grisly murder of young Dmitri, son of Ivan the Terrible. The impressive Church of St. Dmitri on the Blood, with its classic onion domes and blood red walls, is a fine example of classic Russian architecture. The tour ends with an enchanting choral concert.

This, the oldest city on the Volga River, and now a UNESCO World Heritage site, boasts a wealth of ancient orthodox treasures. The impressive Transfiguration of the Savior, adorned with murals depicting St. John’s apocalyptic visions can be seen in the Spassky Monastery. The Church of St. Elijah the Prophet is decorated with an awe-inspiring selection of rich frescoes. For a real taste of pre-revolutionary Russia, visitors are entertained by a costumed reception at the Governor’s House.

Close to the shores of White Lake once were the ‘tsar’s fishing grounds’. It lies in a place so serene that ancient monks chose to build no fewer than three holy sites here, including the Ferapontov Monastery. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, its chapels boast magnificent frescoes by Dionysius, one of Russia’s most renowned icon painters. The Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery was a refuge for many nobles during tumultuous times and later a fortress that successfully repelled invading armies.

The Karelia region is a vast and naturally beautiful wilderness that spreads all the way from St. Petersburg to the Arctic Circle. The glorious island village of Kizhi consists almost entirely of the traditionally styled wooden buildings of ‘Old Russia’. Among them is the famous Transfiguration Church built in 1714. Remarkably, and in testament to the craftsmen of the time, not a single nail was used in its construction! Kizhi is one of the favorite stops on the river cruise to St. Petersburg.

A typical rural hamlet brought to life by warm and welcoming villagers. Volga Dream guests are invited into local homes to enjoy classic Russian fare, tea with jam and ‘pirozhki’ (pies). Enthusiastic hosts share Russian traditions and the appeal of village life while proudly showing off their scrupulously kept homes and kitchen gardens. The tour continues with a brief bus ride to see a unique World War II memorial and then, for a real glimpse of Russian life, a visit to a local primary school.

Nizhny Novgorod

This was once a wealthy city thanks to its proximity to rich eastern trading routes. During the Soviet era, the city was closed to outsiders because of its military importance. It’s also where many political prisoners were sent to live out their days in exile. The 16th-century Kremlin ramparts offer spectacular views and the city is known for its elaborately decorated churches. For Volga Dream cruise guests, the highlight of the day is an evening folk concert performed by local children.

Sailing along the Volga river, the riverbank gradually ceases to be dominated by Orthodox churches. Instead, beautiful mosques appear as the river crosses into Tatarstan where the first stop is scenic Kazan, the region’s capital. Inside the white walls of the citadel, the famous Kul Sharif mosque and the old Cathedral of Peter and Paul stand side-by-side symbolizing the two faiths’ long and peaceful coexistence in the region. A concert of traditional Tatar music ends the Volga Dream tour in Kazan.

Passing the Zhigulevskie Mountains offers wonderful views from the sundeck before touring the city. One of the key attractions is the fascinating Space Museum, which offers a revealing glimpse of how the Soviet Union pursued its ambitious journey to the cosmos. The town is also noted for its beautiful esplanade, perfect for a relaxed stroll beside the Volga river. This in turn leads to the Samara State Art Museum. Founded in 1897, it is home to a collection of more than 16,000 works of art.

This city is best known for its close associations with cosmonaut, Yuri Gagarin. The Russian hero who achieved worldwide fame as the first man in space lived and studied here. Saratov used to be home to a large German community, a heritage that can still be seen in the local architecture. The Volga Dream tour visits the Radishchev State Art Museum, the first picture gallery in Russia outside Moscow and St. Petersburg.

Originally called Tsaritsyn, the city was renamed Stalingrad from 1925 to 1961 in honor of the USSR’s leader. During World War II, the city’s residents put up a heroic defense, repelling an advancing Nazi invasion. The battle for Stalingrad has gone down in history as a pivotal moment in the bloody conflict on the eastern front. The most ferocious and deadly fighting took place on Mamayev Hill, where an imposing memorial now stands close to the excellent Battle of Stalingrad Panorama Museum.

Saint Petersburg

If Moscow surprises, then St Petersburg delights. Peter the Great founded the city to showcase Russia’s newfound enlightenment. He wanted to show the modern world a cultured and advanced society. In short, he built the city to impress and in that he succeeded splendidly! The striking buildings were designed by some of the finest architects Europe had to offer and even now, the ‘Venice of the North’ never fails to enchant with its spectacular buildings and impressive canal network. It is a city of true grandeur.

Cocktails with the Captain

Commanding any ship is a complex role that calls for a long list of skills. Captains know their vessels inside out as well as well as the routes they sail and when things don’t go to plan, they have to make instant decisions. Above all though, the most important part of the job, underpinning everything they do, is to keep the ship and everyone aboard safe. The Captain’s cocktail party is a great and a wonderful opportunity for passengers and crew to get acquainted as the gets underway.

Matryoshka doll painting

There is nothing more typically Russian than a Matryoshka. It embodies the fact that there’s always something deeper to be found in every aspect of Russian life. Learning the traditional designs and techniques used to decorate these iconic dolls offers a pleasant diversion and some cathartic creativity!

Superb Service & Dining

Our restaurant serves the highest standard of international cuisine, freshly made by our Cordon Bleu Chef. Choose either a sumptuous buffet or set menu for lunch while dinner is always four or five courses with full service. High praise for the exquisite quality of meals is yet another constantly recurring feature in feedback from our guests.

Meet the Professor

From the Mongol hordes to Soviet times, Russia’s history is, like all of Europe’s, a complex web of political intrigue, war and peace, trade and treaties, as well as heroes and villains. Academics devote whole lifetimes to studying Russia’s long past and one of them presents a series of lectures shedding light on everything from Gorbachev to Chekhov, Khrushchev to Ivan the Terrible and of course, contemporary Russia. Our Professor is on board throughout the river cruise for informal conversation.

Beginner’s Russian

The Russian language can be rather beautiful and poetic and we know that many seasoned travelers enjoy trying their hand at different languages. Our onboard teachers provide an introduction to the riches of Russian, so guests can try out a few useful words and phrases on real Russians during the exciting river tours from Moscow to St. Petersburg or from Moscow to Volgograd!

Russian tea tasting

The drink we tend to associate with Russia is vodka, but tea, in fact, is the much more universal beverage of choice throughout the country. Guests will get acquainted with the Russian tea etiquette, a fundamental component of the country's social culture, and enjoy the traditional tea ceremony while cruising from St. Petersburg to Moscow or taking a Grand Volga river tour.

Russian Dinner & Vodka Tasting

All our dining is international but for Russian Dining night, the Chef includes a selection of traditional Russian dishes: Chicken Kiev, Kulebyaka and no Russian table is complete without Borsch. To add to the ‘Taste of Russia’ optional Russian dress, or at least a touch of Russian style, is provided along with enthusiastic help from our staff!

Russian Cooking Class

A plate of pelmeni might not look like much to the untrained eye, but it forms the heart of Russian cuisine and culture. Basically, it's a type of dumpling: small portions of meat and onion wrapped in a thin sheet of unleavened dough and boiled, a little like ravioli.
