Wine Tours in Traverse City

There’s a saying among winemakers that “grapes love beautiful places.” The Traverse Wine Coast bears eloquent witness to its accuracy -- when the vineyards of the Old Mission and Leelanau peninsulas are surrounded by four seasons of nature’s beautiful displays and perched on hillsides with sweeping views of Grand Traverse Bay.    The region's wineries have gained an international reputation for the clean, elegant taste and bouquet of their wines. Many people love to visit the Leelanau Peninsula Wine Trail and the Wineries of Old Mission Peninsula to sample the award-winning wines.    Take your own self-guided tour or visit during one of year-round wine trail events. Let someone else do the driving by engaging one of Traverse City’s wine-savvy tour operators to arrange a tour.

There are so many things to do in Michigan. Here I will walk you through the best wineries in Michigan.

I will also tell you all you need to know about Michigan vineyards and let you know which vineyards are on the Michigan wine trail.

You might be surprised to find that Michigan has over 140 wineries across the state with four certified American Viticulture Areas.

Michigan really is a great state for a weekend getaway or a road trip and what could be better than taking part in a Michigan wine tasting.

Michigan wines are rising in popularity and with good reason, they are delicious. Whether you like red white, rose, or fruit wines this state delivers.

Michigan’s soil, topography, and cooler climate provide the perfect conditions for certain grapes.

Wineries are so popular here that the state has several wine trails and I can’t think of a better way to spend a sunny afternoon or a cold one for that matter.

So are you ready to see some of the best wineries in Michigan? Grab a glass of red, pull up a chair, and let me walk you through vineyards in Michigan.

Packing List When Exploring Wineries in Michigan

If you are searching, here are some  tips on how to pack lightly when packing to explore wineries in Michigan.

A  concealed travel pouch  may be one of the most important items you bring along when discovering vineyards in Michigan.

It is  always   important  to protect your personal information. Identity thieves are everywhere.

This  unisex RFID blocking concealed travel pouch is  lightweight and comes in several colors. It has lots of organization to give you peace of mind. You can place it under your clothes next to your body to carry your ID safely.

If you have a pouch already that does not come with RFID protection, as I do, these  RFID  sleeves  are the perfect solution.

If you are planning on taking a lot of pictures with your phone you will definitely want to consider an  external charging battery . This  Anker high-speed phone charging battery  is  the exact one  I carry with me on all of my trips.

I like that it holds its charging capabilities for several uses so I do not have to worry about it while out and about, and if I forget to recharge it at night, it will still be good to go the next day.

My daughter gifted me with this  FugeTek selfie stick and tripod   setup for my birthday. I absolutely love it! It is made of lightweight aluminum and is so easy to use.

It has Bluetooth connectivity and is a breeze to use for taking Insta-worthy selfies while on your romantic getaways in Michigan.

I never much believed in using packing cubes when traveling. That is until I tried them. Now I am hooked. These are the exact cubes I use to stay organized when I pack for a trip!

You will want to bring your own  refillable water bottle  with you.

I never leave home on a trip without my  Bobble filtration bottle .  The 18.5-ounce size is perfect for your adventures and it fits nicely in the pocket of a backpack.

You can get the replacement carbon filters here.

Perhaps you are traveling a long distance and packing space is a premium in your suitcase, or in your car. Then this  set of collapsible silicone foldable water bottles  would work well for you. Would not take up much space at all.

You will want a  backpack or daypack  with you to store snacks, your water bottle, phone, extra clothes, etc.. . No matter the time of day or evening.

This   foldable water-resistant backpack   would be great. And it comes in many different colors.

As you can see when it comes to wineries in Michigan, there are many to choose from.

Whether you choose to try some of the southwest Michigan wine, go on a Michigan wine trail, or visit one of the St Joseph wineries you will have an amazing time.

Wines in Michigan really are some of the best in the world and all of these wineries are welcoming and delightful.

I hope you have a great time sampling some of the best Michigan wines and please come back and tell me all about it.

If you are in the UP one of the coolest things to do in Sault Ste Marie is to visit their winery!

A view of the various cliffs at the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. The cliffs have layers of different colored rock, like yellow, green, and a rusty orange. There are trees on the rocks, most of them have green leaves but a few have orange leaves. It is a sunny day with a blue sky and the water looks very blue. We had a group of 8 people going to the wineries in Baroda. Last minute, we decided we did not want to risk a DUI and needed to find transportation. Rochelle was able to accommodate our group, we felt a little uneasy with how the communication was going back and forth, but decided to book. The bus came right on time and picked us up at our bed and breakfast. The only weird thing is that there was a lot of flies in the bus. We pointed it out to our driver when we went to our first stop, and he took care of it while we were inside of the winery. He took us to every place we wanted to go to, and did not charge us extra for going over our time. If you are looking for a fancy bus that plans your stops, knows a lot about the area, and covers your tastings- this is not the transportation for you. If you are looking for an affordable bus that will take you where you need to go, and accommodate to last minute changes and to what you want to do- book it!

Photo of Ann A.

This was a wonderful Transportation Service. Rochelle was very prompt in answering the phone and assisting me. It was very easy to book my trip and when we needed an earlier pick up time she went out of her way to accommodate our group. The drive was very courteous and prompt, nicest man. I would definitely recommend this company and book another trip with Rochelle anytime I was in Michigan. Thank you.

Photo of Madison L.

If I could rate this ZERO stars I would. I used this "companies" shuttle bus for transportation this weekend and highly regret it. After an amazing weekend with friends, the only thing that ruined it was having to get the police involved after being dropped off. Rochelle is a very unprofessional and sketchy woman. Felt very very unsafe and WOULD NEVER recommend to anyone, especially women.

Photo of Mary K.

We had a great experience! Mitchell was our driver for a wine tour and he was amazing! Fair price for excellent service. He arrived right on time and was always there within minutes when we texted that we were ready to head to our next stop. Definitely recommend A Call Away and would use them again if in the area!

Photo of Doreen T.

Great Service! Definitely recommend if you live in places like Bridgman, where there is no way to to get an Uber or Lyft! Our driver Mitch was awesome would definitely be using their services soon

Photo of Annie C.

We agreed upon a price for them to take us to two breweries and charged us $200 more than agreed upon. the owner, Rochelle, was rude to us and tried to take advantage of us. I would NEVER use this company again under any circumstances.

Photo of Meghan K.

This company is completely unprofessional and extremely shady. Rochelle was rude and tried to double the price that we initially agreed on. Would not recommend.

Photo of Sophia S.

Super efficient, clean van and always responded quickly! if you need a taxi service near New Buffalo - highly recommended Call Away for all your transportation needs.

Photo of Stephanie L.

We had a wonderful experience with our driver. He was on time and had great communication all day in between stops. We will definitely use this company again! Thank you!

She was absolutely amazing everyone should use her!! When we were in new Buffalo for a bachelorette party, the service was quick and affordable!!
