On the first day of July 2023, DOOers from all around the world – including Hong Kong, Malaysia, Cyprus, Thailand and Vietnam – gathered in the “Pearl of the Orient”, Penang, Malaysia! Abundant sunshine and beautiful beaches, Penang welcomed DOOers with its sunny weather. Just like the tropical climate of the vibrant destination, DOOers’ anticipation has been heating up throughout the journey.  

It was an exhilarating trip that not only provided cherished memories but also showcased the dynamic culture of Doo! Join us as we recap the highlights of our journey and delve into the essence of our vibrant company culture. 

Embracing The Spirit Of Adventure  

Our company trip was an immersive experience designed to ignite the spirit of adventure within each participant. From the moment we set off, the energy was palpable as we embarked on thrilling activities in the third top-rated theme park in Asia, ESCAPE Penang! All participating DOOers were divided into six teams, and each team navigated the theme park’s attractions and engaged in a series of collaborative activities tailored to enhance teamwork and communication. 

From tubby racer to zip coaster; banana flips to the world’s longest waterslide, the dynamic adventure park is a heaven for thrill-seekers, pushing DOOers’ boundaries and encouraging everyone to embrace challenges together as a team! Through the activities, each team earned gold coins which contributed to their results for the indoor team building the next day. 

DOOnopoly: Nurturing Teamwork And Connection  

After a full day of thrilling expeditions in the theme park, all DOOers were then ushered to a fun indoor team building game the following day, which was named “DOOnopoly”! It was a game that required strategic thinking and entrepreneurial mindset as each team would be using the gold coins earned from the theme park games to make virtual investments and seize opportunities for profit and growth. 

By participating in “DOOnopoly”, DOOers were able to work as a team and strengthen bonds between one another – we hope each and every DOOer not only had fun, but felt included and engaged in this big, global family! And of course, we’ve presented awards to top-performing winners and all the participants to recognise their energy and passion!  

Shared Laughter And Celebration  

Following a two-day battle of wits, it was time for a party! This year, we had an Oscars-themed gala dinner dubbed as “The DOOSCARS: A Night of Stars” in a luxury hotel. It was a night of glitz and glamour, where every DOOer showcased their fashion-forward outfits inspired by the dazzling looks of Hollywood stars. The level of effort and creativity put into their outfits was truly commendable. To recognize these exceptional fashion statements, we presented the highly coveted Best-Dressed Awards. The winners, both male and female, stood out among the crowd, exuding confidence and sophistication with their impeccable style. 

In addition to the enchanting ambiance and delightful cuisine, the night was abuzz with excitement as some DOOers took the stage for live performances. The crowd sang and cheered on in sync with the stunning shows. 

Next on the agenda was the presentation of the long service awards at the dinner to DOOers who have been journeying with us for more than three years. The awards go beyond recognizing the years of service; they symbolize the enduring bonds formed within our company and the value we place on the contributions of our long-standing team members!  

Last but not least, we had an exciting lucky draw session that added an extra layer of anticipation to the night. DOOers’ hearts raced with each draw, and the room erupted in applause and cheers when lucky DOOers stepped forward to claim their coveted prizes. From Swatch watches to Nespresso coffee machine; Xiaomi 58-Inch Mi TV to iPhone 14 Pro Max, the prizes were a testament to our appreciation for DOOers’ unwavering commitment to great achievements.

You Can Sea-Doo to This Island Off the Coast of Los Angeles — Racing Wild Dolphins Along the Way

With quaint shops and restaurants, beach clubs, campgrounds, a zip line course, and watersports, there’s plenty to do on California’s Santa Catalina Island. But while most travel the 22 miles from Long Beach by boat or ferry (and the lucky few by helicopter ), one adventure company has made the journey even more fun than the destination.

Uncharted Society is a marketplace connecting BRP vehicles (think Sea-Doos and Can-Ams ) with tour operators to create “transformative powersport experiences” — and their Sea-Doo adventure to Catalina is just that.

“After we have carefully selected an iconic location, we identify the local outfitters who offer outstanding experiences in that area,” reps for the two-year-old company told Travel + Leisure. Now, they have over 100 certified outfitters in five countries and 21 states running tours on land and water through every season.

As a water-loving LA resident, I knew I had to Sea-Doo to Catalina as soon as I heard it was an option, and as I mentioned it to friends, our group of keen adventurers quickly grew. It takes roughly two and a half hours, including a few stops to marvel at dolphins and sea lions and a cavern swim. That's more than double the time you’d spend on the ferry, but it comes with 10 times the thrill.

Outfitted in wetsuits, we took off from Long Beach around 8 a.m. on a July morning, the water relatively calm and the sun trying hard to peek out from behind the fog. There had been lots of dolphin talk, but I was trying not to get my hopes up — until our first stop about four miles out, when we had already spotted them swimming right beside us. 

Adrenaline was even higher from that point on and we sped off through the San Pedro Channel, racing and splashing one another (from a safe distance), with no trace of land in sight. This wasn’t your average tour, with speed limits or orderly lines. Our group ranged in age from 19 to 52, but the exhilarating experience of being “lost” on a Sea-Doo in the middle of the ocean made us all feel like kids.

Although adventure takes top priority, Uncharted Society designs its experiences to appeal to die-hard enthusiasts and first-timers alike. “We truly believe at Uncharted Society that whether you get outside for a few hours or a few days, time spent in nature is transformative for everyone,” they told T+L.

Before arriving at Catalina’s Two Harbors — the quieter, more natural side of the island compared to the lively little streets of Avalon — we stopped for a cave swim through the clear, cold waters at Blue Cavern Point. By the time we touched sand and sat down for lunch on the beachfront deck of Harbor Reef Restaurant (no, we still hadn’t had enough water views), we were more than ready to demolish our mahi-mahi sandwiches followed by ice cream at the General Store. 

We relaxed on the beach for a while before getting back on our Sea-Doos for the return journey home. The water was a bit choppier this time, but the sky had turned as blue as the ocean below. Lagging behind, I heard excited screams and sped up to find a pod of dolphins playing around in the surf as if they were racing us back to Long Beach. Being at almost eye level with these stunning creatures, and feeling like we might even be able to match their speed, was an unbeatable feeling. 

The Catalina Sea-Doo tour runs for the last time in 2022 on Nov. 30, but it will be back in early 2023 with the promise of winter whale sightings (and thicker wetsuits). For those unafraid of the cold, the winter adventures won’t stop there: Uncharted Society will take you on a Ski-Doo through the snow in West Yellowstone , power sled skiing in the Chilean Andes , or glacier riding in Alaska .

They’ve just expanded into Canada , with adventures ranging from Sea-Doo fishing in Vancouver and waterfall chasing in a Can-Am offroad vehicle in Panorama to snowy Ski-Doo excursions in Quebec and Whistler. In November, they plan to launch a Women’s Collection, part of an initiative to “grow women representation in powersports.” Currently, women represent 20% of BRP vehicle owners and around one third of Uncharted Society’s website visits, the company says. “Our hope is that Uncharted Society’s Women’s Collection will increase the percentages of women enjoying powersports through these tailored adventures."

Our Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue review will help you decide on whether to include this experience in your Disney vacation itinerary !

The Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue is one of Disney World’s most popular dinner shows and has been entertaining guests since 1974.

The Hoop Dee Doo Revue takes place in Pioneer Hall, which is a stand-alone building on the grounds of Disney World’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground.

The general public (including you!) can purchase tickets to attend this high-spirited sing-along which is entirely family-friendly.

Upon arrival to your designated showtime, Wild-West costumed servers escort you to your assigned seat in the dining hall.

In between skits and songs, amazing, all-you-can-eat southern family-style food is served along with unlimited beverages.

Additional planning tip: How long is Hoop Dee Doo? The entire experience at the Hoop Dee Doo Revue lasts exactly 2 hours.

You should know that the 2-hour duration is not entirely showtime. It is a combination of the seating process, meal courses, singing, skits, and dessert.

Hoop-Dee-Doo Reservations

Make reservations for the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue by booking online on the Walt Disney World Website . Click things to do, dining, then ‘make reservations’.

You may also purchase tickets by calling (407) WDW-DINE up to 180 days prior to your visit.

Prepayment is required for Hoop Dee Doo reservations and your tickets are available for pick up immediately after your reservation has been confirmed.

Additional planning tip: Make your reservations as far in advance as possible as this is an extremely popular show. The 6:15 PM performance always sells out first.

Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue Review: Prices

Seating reservations are allocated based on party size, category, and availability.

There are 3 different categories of seating options all with different price points and views of the stage.

• Category 1 seats are closest to the stage and seat prices are $72 (ages 10 and up), and $43 (ages 3-9).
• Category 2 seats, which are in the back and on the sides of the dining hall, are $67 (ages 10 and up), and $39 (ages 3-9).
• Seats on the balcony level are Category 3 and are $64 and $38 respectively. These seats outline and overlook the stage and dining hall.
• Bonus: Taxes and gratuities are included in the ticket prices. This means that no additional payments or tips are required. The inclusion of strong Disney tradition combined with its all-inclusive perks, make Hoop Dee Doo a great choice when trying to do Disney World on a budget !

Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue Seating Chart

You will want to pay close attention to the Hoop Dee Doo seating chart when making your reservations, as seating can make a difference in the overall experience.

We sat in Category 3 seats on the left side of the balcony.

Unlike the lower-level standard dining tables, the balcony tables are lengthy and guests sit next to, versus facing each other.

The balcony dining seats swivel. When you are eating you’re facing away from the stage, and when it’s showtime, you swivel to face the stage.

We absolutely loved the birds-eye view from the balcony seating! We found these seats to have a much better view than the Category 2 tables located at the back of the dining hall.

Performers come to the balcony during interactive parts of the show. This means that although you are on the upper level, you do not miss out on any action.

Practical information: Be aware that Category 3 tables are located on the second floor. This location does not have elevators. Therefore, wheelchair-accessible seating is only located in Category 1 and Category 2 sections.

Additional planning tip: Category 1 tickets are not eligible for use with Disney Dining Plans. Category 2 and 3 tickets are eligible for a pre-purchased Disney Dining Plan or Deluxe Disney Dining Plan and use 2 meals per person.

Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue Review: Ticket pick-up

Once you’ve paid, you can pick up your tickets at the concierge desk at any Walt Disney World Resort hotel. You can also pick them up at the Pioneer Hall box office.

Ticket pick-up was a bit confusing for us, and others, so let me explain.

First, we chose to pick up our tickets at the Pioneer Hall box office which is advertised as being located next to the Pioneer Hall theater at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.

Instructions on the WDW website state to pick up tickets here 40 minutes prior to showtime.

Though the instructions say to pick-up tickets 40 minutes ahead of showtime, we found this to be entirely unnecessary.

Our already paid for, assigned seating tickets were given to us immediately upon arrival and we were then left to wait 40 minutes before they opened the doors to the Hall. (There is no pre-seating and no being let into the Hall before the exact showtime listed on your tickets.)

We wasted a lot of time ‘waiting’ and the kids got very restless.

I am guessing that they instruct guests to get there so early as a means of crowd control and to avoid long lines right before sho w time .

Additional planning tip: Many people showed up 15 vs. 40 minutes prior to showtime with no problems. We would do the same next time.

Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue Review: Getting there

Disney recommends allowing a minimum of 90 minutes for travel time to Pioneer Hall no matter what method of transportation you are using to get to Fort Wilderness Lodge and Campground.

This is because there is no on-site parking at the Hall.

Figure out where you will be 90 minutes before your ticketed showtime and follow the instructions on ‘getting here’ .

Off-Property

If you are coming from off-site, drive directly to Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground (directions via Smartphone ). Inform the parking attendant of your reservations and he will direct you where to park.

From the parking lot, walk to the bus station (can’t miss it), and catch the internal bus that advertises being headed to Pioneer Hall. If unsure, just ask.

The bus makes several stops throughout the campground before coming upon Pioneer Hall. This is why you should allow for up to 90 minutes.

• Coming from one of the theme parks or Disney Springs : If you are coming from Magic Kingdom, take the ferry from the boat launch area.  From all other theme parks, take a bus to either Magic Kingdom (then take the ferry) or the Transportation and Ticket Center (then take a bus to Fort Wilderness).
• Wilderness Lodge or the Contemporary Resort : Coming from one of these resorts, your fastest option is to take your resort’s boat that visits Wilderness Lodge, the Contemporary, and Fort Wilderness.  Wilderness Lodge guests could also opt to take the walking trail to Fort Wilderness.
• The Polynesian or Grand Floridian : Coming from one of these resorts, you should take the resort monorail to either the Contemporary or Magic Kingdom, then go to the boat launch and take the boat that visits Fort Wilderness. 
• Ft. Wilderness : Take the internal bus system to Pioneer Hall.
• All other Disney Resorts : Coming from any non-Magic Kingdom area resort, take your resort’s bus to the Magic Kingdom, then go to the boat launch to Fort Wilderness.

Planning Tip: For all of the time and planning required on getting to Pioneer Hall, I recommend making Disney Hoop-Dee-Doo reservations on a Disney World non-park day .

We drove our car from off-site which was very convenient, though it did require 30-45 minutes of travel (from the parking lot) on the internal bus system to get to Pioneer Hall. 

Hoop Dee Doo Menu

Perhaps the best and most exciting part of Disney’s Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue is the Hoop Dee Doo menu!

Soft drinks for anyone and unlimited draft beer, wine, and sangria are included for guests 21 years of age and up (ID required). Yes, you read that correctly, included, and unlimited !

The evening starts off with all-you-care-to-enjoy fresh salad and mouth-watering cornbread. Afterward, unlimited fried chicken, smoked BBQ pork ribs, corn, and baked beans are constantly replenished at your table.

Finally, during the finale of the performance, the most amazing strawberry shortcake is served to top off the night.

Quite simply, the Hoop Dee Doo menu is absolutely delicious!

Fun fact: When the buckets of fresh fried chicken are delivered, the waiters slam the metal buckets on the table. The clanking of buckets is heard echoing throughout the hall!

Additional planning tip: There is a special Hoop Dee Doo menu for alternative dinner options. Whether you’re vegan, pescatarian, vegetarian, vegan-lacto vegetarian, or gluten-free, Hoop Dee Doo can accommodate!

The Hoop Dee Doo vegetarian menu includes grilled, marinated veggies, and primavera pasta.

Hoop Dee Doo Revue Showtime

Seating begins immediately at the showtimes of 4:00 PM, 6:15 PM, or 8:30 PM, with the show itself starting 20 minutes later.

Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue is more of a Wild West song and dance-type performance, versus having an actual plot.

The characters of Claire de Lune, Johnny Ringo, Dolly Drew, Six Bits Slocum, Flora Long, and Jim Handy perform skits and song standards.

For added entertainment value, the audience is encouraged to clap their hands, stomp their feet, and sing along.

At several point s during the performance, the characters come out into the audience and interact with guests.

The actual comedic value is minimal, but the energy of the performance is what keeps everyone smiling.

The Pioneer Hall decor is both old-fashioned and country-western. Because of this, the ambiance of the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue is casual and fun.

There is no need to dress up and guests are genuinely relaxed and there to have a good time.

Likewise, the atmosphere is entirely family-friendly and there was no pressure to keep children quieted as there is constant movement and sound throughout the entire hall.

Upon the conclusion of the show, guests exit Pioneer Hall to return to the parks/accommodations the same way you arrive.

Shuttles run consistently back and forth to the parking lot, so there is no need to make reservations.

Additional planning tip: The process of getting back to your final destination will once again take 45-90 minutes.

While You’re there

Instead of departing right away, or if you get to Pioneer Hall with extra time to waste, consider enjoying the surroundings of Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground.

There’s a playground located just a short walk from the show’s entrance. At night, you can see the Electrical Water Pageant float by from the Fort Wilderness Dock. And last, there’s a free evening campfire with Chip and Dale followed by an outdoor movie each night.

Our family of 5, boys ages 7, 10, and 12, and grandparents, enjoyed the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue. As mentioned, I was not entirely thrilled by the ‘show’ itself, but I appreciated the experience as a whole.

The meal alone was absolutely unforgettable!

I feel like the price, which includes taxes and gratuities, for this dinner show is an excellent deal. The show, the experience, and unlimited food and drink are well worth the ticketed cost.

The part about this experience that can be viewed as somewhat of a hassle is the transportation to Pioneer Hall.

There is no on-site parking or direct entrance to this section of Fort Wilderness, so set aside a lot of time to get there.
