Music for travel videos: Find the best background songs for your travel content

See how you can find the perfect soundtrack for your travel content without worrying about copyright issues.

Shane McKenna

Millions of creators are seizing the moment by filming their travel experiences to share with the world. And one thing that unites all these intrepid creators is the time spent finding music for travel videos. Because you should never settle for a second-rate soundtrack for your stunning footage.

It’s why travel creators of all types are constantly searching for killer soundtracks, no matter their niche. Everyone from glamorous Instagrammers creating Reels of jetsetting luxury, right through to vlogging backpackers roughing it in all terrains.

On top of that is the challenge of finding music you can safely use in your videos. After all, the last thing you need when you have patchy internet access or you’re enduring a mammoth bus journey is to see your content has lost monetization!

To help you protect your channel and find your ideal soundtrack, we’ve put together this guide to help you navigate the Uppbeat catalog. We’ll guide you through finding the best music for travel videos and steer you clear of pesky copyright claims.

Find the best travel music for your video

  • Bring content to life with music inspired by landscapes
  • Respect local cultures with a traditional soundtrack
  • Use Uppbeat to find your perfect travel content soundtrack

Music plays a vital role in setting the scene for your content. It’s an essential travel companion for any footage filmed in far-flung destinations. No matter if you’re sharing the lively vibes of a beach party or a serene mountain vista, the right soundtrack will complement the visuals and create an immersive experience for your audience.

But with a world of choice out there, it’s sometimes tricky knowing where to start your search for music that fits your footage. Which is why Uppbeat has created a library dedicated to travel creators, featuring specially curated collections of music that’ll take your content to National Geographic levels of awesome. Read on to discover the different ways you can find your perfect sound.

Immerse your audience with authentic beats from around the world

Some sounds will instantly transport your viewers to certain parts of the world. It’s a powerful tool that’ll immediately add even more authenticity to your content. Think Middle Eastern Grooves conjuring images of camelback rides, or Gypsy Swing giving your footage a European flavor.

When you find the perfect music to match the vibe of a place you have visited, it becomes that much easier to immerse your audience and make them feel like they were with you every step of the way. A great example is Kara and Nate who used Japanese lofi beats to soundtrack their 24 hour vlog in the country, tapping into the chilled-out vibes of visiting cherry blossom-lined parks.

You could take a leaf out of Mikki Tenazas's book, using sunny slabs of tropical house to bring party vibes to his guide to the stunning beaches of the Maldives. Or simply search through our Global Grooves playlist to find uplifting beats, similar to those in Kombi Life's van life vlog from Ireland. Find the beats that match your video and take viewers on an auditory journey with you.

Image of a man on a mountain and a different man walking through a jungle to represent different Uppbeat travel music playlists.

Take a leaf out of Hollywood’s book and pair stunning visuals with a blockbuster soundtrack. Like how Eva zu Beck matches dramatic frozen vistas with captivating cinematic music during her trip to the Arctic Circle. The epic soundtrack elevates the footage and enhances the feeling of awe felt by viewers.

Tracks that’ll get your audience on the edge of their seat are great too. TikToker Jacob Riglin uses big energy EDM to mirror his adrenaline-fuelled skydiving clips, and you can do the same by exploring our Adrenaline Rush playlist full of big beats.

Or why not check out our Off the Beaten Path collection to discover experimental beats that work well with unique, remote locations. Kristen & Siya use these kinds of left field sounds to memorable effect, pairing blissed-out electronica with their camping trip in the Canadian wilderness. It’s all about experimenting with music that mirrors the energy and mood of your adventures, so give it a try!

Image of a carnival dancer in Rio de Janeiro and two musicians on a street in Barcelona to represent different Uppbeat travel music playlists.

Every city has its soundtrack, and matching your edits with these musical styles immediately gives your video added authenticity. Say for example, you’ve filmed some Casey Neistat-style shots of New York, you already know your fast-cut edit will work well with cool lofi beats.

To make your life easier, we’ve put together dedicated playlists to suit a whole range of cities from around the world. If you’re following in Grrrltraveler ’s footsteps and planning an urban Indian adventure, you can dive straight into our Mumbai Bustle collection. Or you can find the perfect Parisian soundtrack if you’re taking a romantic city break like takemyhearteverywhere .

Bring your content to life with music inspired by different landscapes

Separate images of a waterfall and a desert to represent different Uppbeat travel music playlists.

Some of the most successful travel creators are known for capturing jaw-dropping footage of stunning vistas. You’ll often find they elevate beautiful natural landscapes with equally evocative music.

Take how Sorelle Amore used reflective cinematic music to soundtrack her exploration of the serene coastline of Yemen. Or look at the way Fearless & Far used uplifting beats to wrap up their extraordinary video of camping under Africa’s second largest waterfall. By selecting a soundtrack to complement your visuals, you’ll create a truly immersive experience for your audience and allow your footage to shine.

Respect local cultures by using traditional music

Image of a celtic-style tree and a flamenco dancer to represent different Uppbeat travel music playlists.

Creating great travel content is as much about capturing the essence of a place as it is showcasing amazing locations. By weaving traditional music into your videos, you add a layer of cultural depth and offer your viewers an immersive auditory experience that enhances the visual narrative.

Yes Theory are masters of this technique. For example, they used traditional Japanese music to immediately set the scene for their sumo house experience and exploration of its cultural significance. While both Flying The Nest and Drew Binsky use distinctly Indian sounds to immediately place their videos, despite highlighting very different aspects of the country’s culture.

Find the perfect soundtrack for your travel videos with Uppbeat

When it comes to choosing the right music for your travel content, it can be tricky knowing where to start. Do you hunt down songs for travel videos which fit the local culture? Do you try to match the vibe of the footage? Or perhaps just find yourself some banging beats?

To help make your search hassle-free, Uppbeat has a designated section of our platform dedicated to music for travel videos . Our specially curated music collections reflect the diverse ways travel creators look for the perfect track, meaning you can dive into beats of the world, discover specific city vibes, or find a mood to match your edit.

Best of all, you don’t need to worry about the threat of copyright claims and losing monetization with our library packed full of copyright-free gems which are safe to use in your travel videos. And once you’ve found your ideal sound, simply hit download and add a credit to your video description. It’s quick and easy, leaving you with more time to make awesome content and explore the world.

How to Find the Best Travel Video Music

This post contains product affiliate links. These are mainly on items/hotels/tours that I personally endorse & love. I may earn a small commission if you make a purchase, but at no extra cost to you.

Do you want to find the best travel video music for your vlogs? From royalty free songs to music subscriptions, this is how to find the right track for you!

travel video music

Are you looking for the best background music for travel videos? Then you’ve come to the right place! In this blog post I’ll explain where to find the best songs for a travel video – I’ll also explain how you can save some money on music subscriptions in the long run too.

One of the questions I always get asked on my YouTube channel is how do I find the best travel video music. I’ve had my YouTube channel since 2014, and over the years I’ve really developed my own sound and style. That’s why I know it’s important to find the right track for you

As you know, a good song can make or break a video. If a song is jarring or doesn’t match what people are watching, then they’re just going to turn off. And once they’re gone, they gone, they ain’t coming back. That means you’ve only got one chance to get this right.

music for travel videos

When I was learning how to make travel videos , I was always taught that the audio and music were actually more important than the visuals. People can understand a video without any audio – beautiful montages are great – but as soon as you introduce audio and sound it really changes people’s perceptions of a video.

That’s why, when I used to make travel videos a few years ago, I used to spend hour after hour sifting through audio libraries trying to find the right track. Thankfully, things have gotten a lot quicker and easier since then.

I’m not saying I’m perfect at finding the right music, but I do take pride in how my videos sound. A lot of effort goes into each one and hopefully that’s reflected in the content I create.

Over the past few years I’ve learned a lot (you can check out some of my videos here ), so to help you out here are some of my top tips of finding the best music for travel videos.

Also, I’ve included a couple of exclusive discounts and perks just for my followers, so make sure you make good use of them!

Why is music so important?

It’s evocative, emotive, inspiring and everything else in-between. Basically, music is the one thing that ties your video together.

Do you want people to feel happy or sad when watching your video? Do you want them to feel positive about life? Or floaty and dreamy? Music is the way of setting the mood so the person watching knows how to feel without knowing how they’re feeling (if that makes sense).

Music creates an emotion into what you’re trying to say. It creates this emotional connection between you and the viewer – that’s why I think it’s so important. If you want those acoustic road trip vibes then there’s a way of creating that emotion with the right travel videos music.

how to find music for travel videos

When searching for songs in music libraries and subscription services, you can actually do it by mood. Want your video to be mysterious or sexy? There are moods for that! This makes it really easy finding the right background music that conveys the emotional message of your video.

Another reason why finding the right track is so vital is video editing. When video editing, you should be editing to the beat. This is when each different shot or scene changes to the beat of the music. Slow music means longer changes, a quick tempo gives a very fast edit.

Just another reason why music is so important!

Finding copyright royalty free music for travel videos

I was talking to a friend recently and she really wanted to find royalty free music for her latest YouTube video. The problem? She didn’t want to pay for anything.

There are a couple of really good YouTube channels like Vlog No Copyright Music and Music for Creators where you can download no copyright, royalty free music.

If you search for ‘travel vlog music’ in YouTube itself, there are loads of options for you to use.

good songs for travel video montage

I would say that if you’re just starting out or you don’t make videos that often, this is a really good and free option. Obviously it being free is the main thing here.

However, there is a downside. Despite how good some of the songs sound, they are very generic and thousands of other people use them. That means there’s a high likelihood of someone else using the same song in their videos.

If you’re looking for originality (like I always do when making a video) then this isn’t the best way of doing it.

finding music for videos

Using music libraries – paid subscriptions

Music libraries are websites that have hundreds of thousands of songs which you can download.

They have everything from classical music all the way through to grime and trip-hop. Basically, whatever you want, they have it. These are what I have used for the past couple of years and I love em.

Now music libraries are a premium service. This means you need to pay some $$$ depending on the licence and what the music is for. It goes without saying, but if you want to use it for commercial purposes then it costs a lot more to download that particular type of licence that if you just wanted to use it for a personal YouTube video.

You can either pay for a single track which you get to use once, or you can pay for a monthly subscription fee and get unlimited tracks. It all depends on what level you’re at and how many tracks you want to use.

travel video songs

There are quite a few different audio libraries out there, but I am only going to recommend the three best ones.

Also, I’ve teamed up with a couple of these to offer exclusive discounts just for you guys. This is either money off your subscription or a couple of months free. If you’re thinking of signing up then use my links and save some money. I’m here for you guys!

For transparency and as a disclaimer, I earn a small commission of these links, but they never cost you any more money. And I only ever recommend services that I’ve used myself.

good songs for travel videos

When it comes to searching for some music for travel videos, Artlist is an amazing place to start.

Artlist are an amazing subscription service and they have some really ambient travel video music that I like.

With over 12,000 songs to choose from and with unlimited downloads, Artlist only feature artists that are hand-picked from all over the world. Also, any song you download is yours to use in any project including commercial usage, a lifetime use for the songs you download, pre-checked for YouTube monetisation and new music every month – it does buy you a lot!

Artlist is a subscription-based service and costs $16.60 per month. However, this can only be billed annually at $199 which makes it more for long-term content creators.

Personally, I think Artlist have some of the best songs for travel videos around. Their acoustic guitar section is particularly good, and they have lots of nice ambient tracks too.

For my followers, if you signup and subscribe to Artlist then you get 2 months extra for free. That’s a saving of $33.20 for the annual subscription so not bad at all!

Are you looking at actually how to make a travel video? Then this section is for you.

FXHome by Artlist is a brand new video & image editing software provider for anyone who wants to create videos on the move.

There are subscriptions for any creator and access to a library of industry-leading music, sound effects, and video templates built directly into your editing platform. These new templates make editing super easy.

Audionetwork :

travel vlog music

You can buy a single-track usage for £6.99, a single track with monetisation on YouTube for £19.99 or a professional licence for £69 (these are for production companies more than anything else).

Even though the music on Audionetwork is great, if you buy a few single-track licences it very quickly adds up and can be pretty pricey. That’s what I found after a while of using Audionetwork. If you’re looking at buying a one-off track though then this is a really good option for you. They also have some fantastic background songs for travel videos too.

Epidemic Sound :

epidemic sound subscription

Epidemic Sound have been getting more and more popular over the last couple of years and they have some of the best travel video music around.

A creator subscription at Epidemic Sound costs £10 per month and this gets you access to all 30,000+ tracks, unlimited downloads, unlimited use in all your owned and operated channels and no copyright claims or royalty fees.

Also, and this is the real bonus – YOU CAN CANCEL ANY TIME! I really like that because as a blogger you know that one month you might need to edit 4 videos, and then you won’t have to do any again for a few months, so I love that you can dip in to and out of this service.

I have genuinely used all 3 of these subscription services and my favourite by far is Epidemic Sound. What I love is the selection of tracks you can get on there and I love how you’re not locked into anything. For the videos I make, I think Epidemic Sound have the best selection of tracks too. Put it this way, I’m a fan.

If you’re interested in signing up to Epidemic Sound, I have a free 30-day trial for all my followers. This gives you access to the whole Epidemic Sound library and gives you a little taste of what they’re like. Sign up and hopefully you’ll enjoy them as much as I do!

The best song for travel videos

If you don’t know where to start then here’s some of my favourite travel music for videos. In particular, I’d say this is a good place to find some great music for travel vlogs. I would say these are all good songs for travel video montage. Hopefully you’ll enjoy editing to some of these tracks!

Top tips for finding the best travel video music

  • When you’re searching for which track to use, play it alongside some raw footage of your video. If you know what shots you want to use and how your video is going to flow, being able to hear the music while watching some of your favourite b-roll is going to give you an indication whether the song will work or not.
  • These days, when I’m planning a video, I actually start searching for tracks beforehand to see what music I think would match the place I’m travelling to. If I’m heading to Mexico, I search for some Mexican sounds. That means, before I’ve even stepped onto the plane, I know the type of shots I’ll need for my video. Sometimes the best travel music for videos is recording a local band and using that – just make sure the audio is good enough!
  • Beware of lyrics. Even though songs with lyrics in are great and I use them a lot, if there are lyrics in the background when you’re talking or there’s a voiceover it’s really jarring.
  • Make sure your background music is background music. If it’s too loud and it clashes with any other audio then it’ll ruin your video. Keep it in the background at -2 to -4db dropping down to -16 to -22db for any voiceover and you’ll be fine.
  • Don’t be afraid to cut up a song. Just because the song length is 3 minutes 20 seconds, it doesn’t have to be that. Remember you can cut and loop different sections of the song to make it shorter or longer if you want.
  • If you find a song you really like but isn’t quite right for your project, save it in a separate folder so you can come back to it in the future. I have so many songs saved offline that I want to use for future projects it’s unreal.

So those are all my top tips for finding the best travel video songs. Hopefully you’ll now be able to find the right track for you next project!

Thank you for sharing these tips. We have curated a few videos ourselves and have had to work hard to get the desired music. We were able to use a Jack Johnson song by contacting his representants directly. Some artists are not as flexible so we will definitely keep these tips in mind.

It’s always great when you find the right track for your videos – sometimes a song just works, doesn’t it? I agree, contacting artists directly is a good way to find music and I know a lot of people on SoundCloud licence their music to YouTubers.

Best Songs for a Vacation Video Background Music (in 2024)

You’ve got the perfect vacation video, but something is missing. A soundtrack that fits the mood perfectly. You need music for your travel videos! But what music should you choose? What are the best songs for a vacation video?

One of the best songs to add to your travel videos is Bob Dylan’s “Gotta Travel On”. Just hearing the song instantly takes you to a peaceful place where nothing else matters but that beautiful moment. It’s even a perfect track to listen to while road trippin’ towards your much-awaited family vacation.

But there are various other songs that could be perfect for your epic vacation videos!

Whether you’re spending some good time in New York or basking under the sun in Greece, there sure is a song perfect for your travel clips. All you have to do is look!

If you want to begin searching for the right music to express all the good times you had, you’ve come to the right place!

Where can I find good background music for vacation videos?

You can find good background music for your vacation videos in many places. Indeed, the best way to hype up your clips is through great music.

Listening to a playlist of travel songs that you like is one way to find what you’re looking for. You can also look at the travel playlists of other people who have created videos with similar content as yours or check out some of those popular sites where people share their favorite songs with others.

In this day and age, social media has tons of ideas you can check out. Try to get a feel of what you want your video’s feel to be and look for similar ones on the internet.

Another option is to listen to the playlists that artists have made themselves—some artists will even share their own personal favorites!

You’ll want to be sure that whatever song you use is either available on streaming services or in online stores where downloads are allowed (such as iTunes). This way, people will be able to hear it even if they don’t have access to YouTube videos or Google Play Music.

You could set up an account on either platform so that all the music files are stored there and then download them onto offline devices such as cell phones or tablets later down the road when needed during production processes.

Which genres make the best background music for vacation videos?

Music for vacation videos or vacation slideshows can be categorized into a few different genres.

The most common is ambient and minimalist music, which involves the use of instruments like chimes and bells to create sounds that are soothing without being overpowering.

It all depends on whether you want the music to be as captivating as the video or just something chill in the background.

Ethnic or tribal music is another good choice for themed songs, as it often has a relaxing vibe to it while still having enough energy to keep viewers engaged.

Classical music is another option that usually works well in background music situations: many classic composers are well-known for their ability to conjure up feelings of romance and adventure with their compositions, making them perfect for travel videos.

Alternative rock or classic rock can also be used as background songs if you want something more upbeat than classical but not quite as intense as electronic beats or hip-hop songs (although those work well, too!).

Underground hip-hop beats could also work if you have an urban setting in mind—they’re less likely to clash with certain areas of your video editing project’s theme than other genres because they’re generally considered more “universal.”

If you want something mellow but still energetic enough to hold viewers’ attention throughout your entire video editing project, acoustic guitar pieces and love songs by artists like Jimi Hendrix may be just what you need!

What are the best songs for travel videos?

When it comes to selecting music for your travel video, you’re going to want to consider a few different things.

The first thing you should think about is the type of vacation that you are going on and the destination where you’re going to be.

For example, if you are going on a relaxing beach getaway with your best friend, then mellow acoustic songs with soft vocals would be perfect. On the other hand, if you are going on an adventure vacation full of outdoor activities like hiking or kayaking, then upbeat rock music would make a good choice for background music to create your best music video yet!

The second thing that’s important is the season when your trip will take place.

For instance, wintertime will require festive Christmas songs since it’s such a jolly time of the year full of holiday cheer! Summer vacations bring about big summer hits, so some popular pop songs would work well with this type of setting.

And finally: personal preference!

Everyone has their own preferences when it comes to what kind of music they like listening to, which makes choosing something specific really difficult sometimes. Luckily, there’s one good song out there for everyone (maybe even two!).

To help you narrow down your options, let me share 30 of the best songs for travel videos:

  • “Open Road” by Bryan Adams
  • “I Walk The Line” by Johnny Cash
  • “Moon Dawg” by The Beach Boys
  • “Take Me Home, Country Roads” by John Denver

  • “Travelin’ Man” by Ricky Nelson
  • “Ramblin’ Man” by The Allman Brothers Band
  • “Around The World” by Daft Punk
  • “Have Love, Will Travel” by Richard Berry
  • “Fast Car” by Tracy Chapman
  • “Leaving On A Jet Plane” by John Denver
  • “Montego Bay” by Bobby Bloom
  • “City Of New Orleans” by Willie Nelson
  • “Highest Mountains” by Zibbidi Zaaba
  • “Own Way” by Fleetwood Mac
  • “Galway Girl” by Ed Sheeran
  • “Hills of West Virginia” by Phil Ochs
  • “Free Man” by South Shore Commission
  • “Graceland” by Paul Simon
  • “Come Fly With Me” by Frank Sinatra
  • “Carolina In My Mind” by James Taylor
  • “Fly Away” by Lenny Kravitz
  • “Gotta Travel On” by Bob Dylan
  • “The Passenger” by Iggy Pop

  • “Uptown Girl” by Billy Joel
  • “Midnight Train To Georgia” by Gladys Knight and The Pips
  • “Havana” by Camila Cabello
  • “Vacation” by The Go Go’s

Is it legal to use songs in a travel video for my own?

No matter how much you like a song and how much you envision it to be such a great fit for your travel videos, you may not always have the luxury (legally) to use it. But there are some options you can look into.

Having said that, it also depends on what you plan to do with the video. I have several of my family’s vacation videos on a hard drive hooked up to my TV, and they’re just for watching at home. So my travel videos have songs like The Go Go’s “Vacation” on them.

But if you’re posting them on social media, especially if you are using an entire song , you’ll want to be careful.

Snapchat, of course, gives you lots of song options to add to videos, as do other platforms. But you’re just adding tiny snippets, not whole songs. It’s when you’re using an entire song, especially if there is no narration or other noises in the background. But even then, as you see on YouTube where most songs you know are literally uploaded in full by hundreds of users, it’s probably not really a big deal.

Most bands and record labels have grown accustomed to streaming music and the financial realities of that. They aren’t likely to ever target a home user unless it’s obvious they are trying to distribute and profit from an artist’s work.

But if you want to make sure you’re in compliance, here are the steps:

The first step to using music in your travel video is determining the type of license that applies to the song. There are three main types: public domain, royalty-free and creative commons.

Public domain music is freely available for use by anyone without restrictions on how it can be used or distributed. With this type of song, there are no fees associated with its use, and you can use as much or as little of a recording as you’d like without any hassle or legal worries.

Royalty-free songs have similar terms, but they usually require payment once per project instead of per listener (which could get expensive).

It may require some money from your end, but the fact that it only needs a one-time payment is already a great deal if you really enjoy the music. But there are other free options out there, so these should be the last songs on your list.

Creative commons songs are released under specific licenses with different rules about how they can be shared and used commercially.

The underlying principle is still one where people don’t have to pay royalties when using these materials; however, creators retain certain rights over how their work is presented outside of those limits set forth by each license type.

How can I post a video on social media with music without violating copyright laws?

As I have expounded above, the key to sparing yourself from any potential legal issues is to understand the different licenses that may apply to different music. But in most cases, most artists, platforms, and record labels aren’t going to care unless it seems obvious you are trying to make money off the music.

A good rule of thumb is to avoid any music that you do not have an explicit license to use. If you are not sure of the legality of a particular piece of music, it’s best to err on the side of caution and avoid using it.

Besides, there are literally millions of songs out there to choose from. It is always best to opt for one which allows you to post your video with no worries.

To ensure that you do the right thing in choosing the perfect background music for your travel video, there are some things you can do.

For starters, don’t use an entire song from start to finish. That could be seen as “distributing” the song, as it would be possible for someone to download and extract the audio file. Just use a series of small snippets.

You can also blend the song with the actual audio from your video.

Next, you can use public domain songs if you don’t want to spend any dollars. A lot of the most popular songs have expired copyrights, which means they are now in the public domain and can be used freely by anyone who wishes to use them!

You can also opt for music under a creative commons license for free song options.

Another option is to purchase licenses from online websites where there may be prerecorded instrumental tracks available for purchase so long as they don’t contain any copyrighted vocals or lyrics written by another party.

This option is usually pretty pricey since most musicians want their work compensated fairly for its usage rather than giving it away for free, but this could be worth considering if your budget allows it!

What are the all-time best travel songs?

And when compiling your videos from those trips, never underestimate the power of a great song to set the tone for your whole trip.

For instance, the song “Walking on Sunshine” by Katrina and the Waves is an all-time great travel song.

Not only is it upbeat, but it also features lyrics such as “I’m walking on sunshine” and “shining through darkness” that are perfect for setting a positive mood, making them the favorite lyrics of a lot of people.

Another great choice would be Taylor Swift’s “You Belong With Me.”

This fun hit song will get you pumped up for your trip, especially if you’re traveling solo or with someone special who reminds you how much they belong with you. It makes anyone feel like they’re in their comfort zone and that they’re in the right place at the right time!

If you’re looking for a song that will make you feel like an international jet setter, even if it’s just your first time, try The Go-Go’s “Vacation.”

This classic 80s tune is the perfect choice for anyone who wants to get up and dance while they wait in line at airport security, which makes it one of my favorite things to listen to.

If you’re looking for a song to help you feel like you’ve got the whole world in your hands, try “I Want You Back” by The Jackson 5.

This classic song will have you singing along (and dancing in your seat) for a long time!

But if you’re feeling nostalgic and want to reminisce about simpler times, try listening to Don McLean’s “American Pie.”

This iconic song will have you feeling like you’re on an adventure even before you officially start your much-awaited trip. It feels like it takes you to a specific place in the United States, wherever in the world you may be.

And if you’re looking for a song that will help you get in the mood for your trip, try listening to “Lose My Breath” by Beyoncé.

This upbeat tune is perfect for anyone who wants to feel like they’re running through an airport full of people who are all trying to get somewhere just as fast as they are!

This experience is especially true when you’re traveling with your kids. We all know that can be chaotic (but undoubtedly rewarding!).

You might be thinking that the stress of taking your children far away from home is not worth it, but with the right guide and tips, it should not be as stressful as you think!

And the music for an international destination like London really gets interesting.

In a recent article I authored, I created a detailed guide on how I got to travel with my kids to London with ease, so you won’t have to! I even cover the amazing Harry Potter Studio Tour!

Just click that link to read it on my site.

What are the best travels songs for Instagram stories?

I’m sure you’re familiar with the saying, “go big or go home.”

It’s a mantra that’s been passed down from generation to generation and has become as popular today as it was when the phrase was first coined.

If you’re like a lot of people, then you probably want to make your Instagram stories stand out among all the other ‘grammers out there. You don’t want your viewers’ eyes glazing over while they see yet another series of seemingly random videos of Paris or Rome.

Instead, I recommend using music that will help capture their attention from start to finish! Here are five songs for a vacation video background music that will make sure each Instagram story has its own unique personality:

First up is we have “California” by Phantom Planet.

This upbeat song is a perfect vacation video background music because it’s catchy and easy to sing along with, which will help keep your viewers’ attention. It also has an indie rock sound that will come across as fresh and new to anyone who watches your story.

Next is the “Fireflies” by Owl City.

If you’re looking for a song that’s both romantic and nostalgic, then this one might be right up your alley!

It features soft piano melodies accompanied by light percussion instruments that create a dreamy vibe that’ll make any viewer want to kick back on their couch with a glass of wine in hand while watching your stories.

Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now” is also an awesome choice. If you’re looking for a song that has a fast-paced tempo with an upbeat melody, then this one’s for you!

It’s perfect for a vacation video background music because it’ll help keep your viewers interested in what comes next.

We also have “Sugar” by Maroon 5.

This song is great for a vacation video background music because it’s catchy and upbeat, but it also has a soulful vibe that makes it feel like the perfect soundtrack for a sunset walk on the beach or around town.

U2’s “You’re the Best Thing About Me” is a song that has a super positive, feel-good vibe that’ll make any viewer smile!

It’s also got an uplifting tempo that makes it perfect for a vacation video background music because it’ll help keep your viewers engaged and interested in what comes next.

Then there’s “Firework” by Katy Perry.

If you’re looking for a song that has an upbeat melody but with strong percussion instruments, then this one might just fit the bill! It’s got a pop sound that will come across as fresh and new to anyone who watches your stories.

How many playlists do you need? I guess that depends on how many vacations you take a year.

And if you’re wondering how many vacations an average family takes, you can also learn more about that in another one of my recent articles . I get into all the statistics, including not only how many but also the average costs.

How do I download songs to put in a travel video?

The easiest way to add music to your video is by finding the song you want on YouTube and using a website like YouTubeToMP3 to download it (not a paid endorsement).

Every once in a while, I find a video with privacy settings that won’t allow downloading. But luckily, almost any song you can think of probably has dozens, if not hundreds, of videos of it on YouTube, so just look for another one. Unfortunately, streaming platforms like Spotify don’t have a way to download songs.

Save it as an MP3 file, and then it will be easy to upload into your video editing software.

Go ahead and drag the song into the timeline of your project. Once placed, it will automatically sync with your video footage. There are lots of different types of music that can be added to a travel video—from original compositions to covers by popular artists.

If you’re looking for inspiration for what to download outside of what I’ve shared here, check out various playlists of travel-related songs on Spotify, YouTube, or any music apps and websites out there.

Traveling is an experience made incredibly better when spent listening to good music.

There is nothing like the perfect song to reflect the good life you’ve experienced, jumping from one place to another with your friends and family.

And by the way, did you know that families that travel together actually reap multiple benefits from doing so?

If you want to learn more about them, check out this recent article I wrote! Believe it or not, there are a number of studies that show a whole host of benefits for parents and kids alike when you do vacations together.

Are instrumental songs better for vacation videos?

When you’re planning a vacation video, it can be hard to find the right song. There are so many choices!

And even when you think you’ve found the perfect song, after a few seconds of watching your video, it might feel like something’s missing. Your best bet is instrumental music because it doesn’t distract from your content—you can use it in any type of vacation video and get great results.

Instrumental songs also don’t take away from a story that’s being told by voiceover or other audio elements like sound effects or narration (if those things are important).

So if you’re looking for something lighthearted and fun while still giving people their money’s worth? Look no further than good ol’ instrumental tracks!

You can easily find them by searching on YouTube or Spotify and filtering your results by “instrumental” or “no vocals.”

If you’re looking to add a little spice to your vacation video, try adding some old-school jazz music from generations past. The mellow sound is perfect for showing off the exotic beauty of your destination while still giving the focus on your travel clips.

If you’re looking for something more upbeat, try adding some instrumental music from the genre of pop. The catchy tunes are perfect for showing off the fun side of your destination!

Being from Texas, if you haven’t picked a destination yet for your next road trip, I want to suggest Texas.

I shared some fun vacation ideas you can do in Texas in this recent article . I cover some of my all-time favorite destinations, including one that only locals know about.

Where can I find free background music for travel videos?

When it comes to finding free background music for your travel videos, there are plenty of options.

You just have to be careful about copyright violations and make sure that you’re not breaking any laws by using the music in your video.

Music can still be used without paying royalties if you follow a few simple rules.

The most important thing is to only use royalty-free music that’s been specifically created for use in videos or other multimedia projects like YouTube videos (which is why we recommend the websites below).

To ensure that you don’t get sued by a copyright holder:

  • Only download from legitimate websites and apps that legally host royalty-free tracks (like YouTube)
  • Make sure there aren’t any restrictions on what kind of project this track can be used with (YouTube has specific rules about how long each video needs to be before videos can qualify).
  • Always give credit to the artist and website in your video description.
  • Always use a video editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro to edit your video.

If you want to use music in your travel videos, we also recommend using the websites below: (not paid endorsements)

  • Cepstral ( https://www.cepstral.com/ )
  • Audio Jungle ( https://audiojungle.net/ )

What is the very best song for a travel video?

Ultimately, the best song for a travel video is the one you like. It’s your content, so it should reflect your interests.

But here are a few suggestions from different genres.

Class Rock and Pop:

  • “Clear Blue Skies” – Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young
  • “Rockin’ Down the Highway” – The Doobie Brothers
  • “Truckin” – The Grateful Dead
  • “On the Road Again” – Canned Heat
  • “King of the Road” – Roger Miller
  • “Six Days on the Road” – Dave Dudley
  • “These Roads Don’t Move” – Ben Gibbard & Jay Farrar

Modern Rock and Pop:

  • “Wherever I May Roam” – Metallica
  • “Road Trippin’” – Red Hot Chili Peppers
  • “Ride” – Twenty One Pilots

This may seem like an obvious statement, but it’s really important to remember that your decision will be influenced by your personal preferences and tastes.

If you find something that fits perfectly with what you want to say in your video, then it will make all the difference.

It also depends on the type of travel video you have. Is it a relaxing trip to the beach? Is it a fun-filled day full of adventures under the sun? Or is it one where you get to attend a grand parade?

All of these things are worth considering.

If you are looking for background music that can help set the mood or tell a story without distracting from what is happening on screen, then there are lots of options available online.

There are also some great websites where people have shared their favorite travel songs for this purpose—so if you have time to seek them out, then go ahead!

When deciding on background music for your vacation videos (or any other type of video), try not to get too hung up on worrying about whether someone else would agree with every choice made. Instead, focus on creating something which feels right for YOU as an individual content creator!

75 Travel Songs to add to your Playlist in 2024 – Mixtape #2

Nour De Wilde Salhab - Hostel Expert on Hostelgeeks.com

We curated the second mixtape of the best travel songs.

This list features classic songs about traveling to brand new tracks.

You can find more travel songs here:

  • Summer Mixtape #1 for the perfect travelers playlist
  • 17 best Backpacker Songs you’ve to know
  • 10 songs for exploring the world

This list features a lot of cool songs you’ve to put on your phone. However, and always remember this, go out there and create your own travel songs.

What do we mean by that?

During your travels you will end up in a lot of fun situations.

You will collect memories, and a few songs will take part in it. Then, when you are back home or wherever, you will hear this special song in the radio – and it takes you right back to those fun situations you will cherish forever.

For us, this is for instance “We don’t talk anymore” – we traveled Vietnam for 3 months and some local in every single village, town and city played it at least once. We turned crazy, yet it’s today a part of the experience. Then in Labuan Bajo, while taking the boat cruise around the Komodo National Park, the boat crew only had only one song to play, HIOKO TOBELO 2 – Yopie Latul .

75 Travel Songs to Wanderlust

Okay, enough of the mambo jambo. Turn on your audio and hit the play button. This list of the best 75 travel songs is waiting for you.

I included my personal favorite travel song as #75.

Update : We had to break the songs in several pages, otherwise the page takes too long to load.

Please be patient and wait for the YouTube video to load.

1. Ricky Nelson – Travelin’ Man

I’m a travelin’ man I’ve made a lot of stops all over the world And in every part I own the heart Of at least one lovely girl

I’ve a pretty Señorita waiting for me Down in old Mexico If you’re ever in Alaska stop and see My cute little Eskimo

Oh, my sweet Fraulein down in Berlin town Makes my heart start to yearn And my China doll down in old Hong Kong Waits for my return

Pretty Polynesian baby over the sea I remember the night When we walked in the sands of the Waikiki And I held you, oh so tight

2. The Melodic – “On My Way”

I found an open door (I’m on my way) I think of love once more (I’m on my way)

Precious time on your own Seeing more than you care to say And the mist falls away (I’m on my way)

At times I’ve tried to feel (I’m on my way) With the thoughts I tried to steal (I’m on my way)

Left forgotten like young love All the choices I am made of When the push comes to shove

3. Passenger – Traveling Alone

Australian man, Scandinavian tan, Kicking stones round a square. Sat for a while and carved out a smile, As if someone would care.

Said I’m a long way from the Gold Coast. Furthest I’ve ever known, Oh and this just ain’t my home. It was my wife’s idea, but she’s no longer here. She left me travelling alone.

I never heard silence ring out like a bell. I never heard silence like last night in my expensive hotel. Well, I’m loving a shadow, I’m trying to catch the rain. But I never heard silence ’til I heard it today.

She walked out of the hotel, I could still smell the smoke of the burning heart left inside. She said men are all assholes And life’s a bad joke. She laughed and started to cry.

See, ten years with this man, And a life time of plans, Oh, and I loved him to his bones. Now I’ve lines on my skin And he’s traded me in. He left me travelling alone.

Well, I never felt silence hit me like a train. I never felt silence like blood coursed through my veins. Well, I’m loving a shadow, and I’m trying to catch the rain. I never heard silence ’til I heard it today. I never felt silence ’til I felt it today.

4. Band of Horses – The Funeral

I’m coming up only to hold you under I’m coming up only to show you wrong And to know you is hard, we wonder To know you, all wrong we were

Ooh-ooh Ooh-ooh

Really too late to call, so We wait for Morning to wake you, that’s all we got To know me as hardly golden Is to know me all wrong, they were

At every occasion, I’ll be ready for the funeral Every occasion, once more, it’s called the funeral Every occasion, know I’m ready for the funeral Every occasion, oh, one billion-day funeral

5. X Ambassadors – Renegades

Run away with me Lost souls and reverie Running wild and running free Two kids, you and me

6. Noah And The Whale – Blue Skies

This is a song for anyone with a broken heart This is a song for anyone who can’t get out of bed

I’ll do anything to be happy

Oh, ’cause blue skies are coming

But I know that it’s hard

This is the last song that I write while still in love with you This is the last song that I write while you’re even on my mind

’cause it’s time to leave those feelings behind Oh, ’cause blue skies are coming But I know that it’s hard

7. Coldplay – Adventure Of A Lifetime

Turn your magic on, to me she’d say Everything you want’s a dream away We are legends, every day That’s what she told him

I feel my heart beating I feel my heart beneath my skin I feel my heart beating Oh, you make me feel

Like I’m alive again Alive again Oh, you make me feel Like I’m alive again

8. Red Hot Chili Peppers – Californication

Psychic spies from China try to steal your mind’s elation And little girls from Sweden dream of silver screen quotation And if you want these kind of dreams it’s Californication It’s the edge of the world and all of western civilization

The sun may rise in the East at least it’s settled in a final location It’s understood that Hollywood sells Californication Pay your surgeon very well to break the spell of aging Celebrity skin is this your chin or is that war you’re waging?

9. Of Monsters and Men – Dirty Paws

Jumping up and down the floor My head is an animal And once there was an animal It had a son that mowed the lawn The son was an OK guy They had a pet dragonfly The dragonfly it ran away But it came back with a story to say

Her dirty paws and furry coat She ran down the forest slope The forest of talking trees They used to sing about the birds and the bees The bees had declared a war The sky wasn’t big enough for them all The birds, they got help from below From dirty paws and the creatures of snow

10. Foo Fighters – These Days

One of these days, the ground will drop out from beneath your feet One of these days, your heart will stop and play it’s final beat

One of these days, the clocks will stop and time won’t mean a thing One of these days, their bombs will drop and silence everything

But it’s alright, yeah it’s alright, said it’s alright Easy for you to say Your heart has never been broken Your pride has never been stolen Not yet, not yet, one of these days I bet your heart ‘ll be broken I bet your pride ‘ll be stolen I’ll bet, I’ll bet, I’ll bet, I’ll bet One of these days, one of these days

11. David Bowie – Heroes

I, I wish you could swim Like the dolphins Like dolphins can swim Though nothing, nothing will keep us together

We can beat them, forever and ever

Oh, we can be heroes just for one day

I, I will be King And you, you will be Queen Though nothing will drive them away We can be heroes just for one day We can be us just for one day

12. Ben Howard – Old Pine

Hot sand on toes, cold sand in sleeping bags I’ve come to know that memories Were the best things you ever had The summer shone beat down on bony backs

So far from home where the ocean stood Down dust and pine cone tracks We slept like dogs down by the fire side Awoke to the fog all around us

The boom of summer time We stood Steady as the stars in the woods So happy-hearted

And the warmth rang true inside these bones As the old pine fell we sang Just to bless the morning

13. The Byrds – I Wasn’t Born To Follow

Recommended by the Hostelgeeks community member Alexandra.

No I’d rather go and journey Where the diamond crescent’s glowing And run across the valley Beneath the sacred mountain And wander through the forest

Where the trees have leaves of prisms And break the light in colors That no one know the names of

And when it’s time I’ll go and lay Beside the legendary fountain ‘Till I see her form reflected

In its clear and jewelled waters And if you think I’m ready You may lead me to the chasm Where the rivers of our visions Flow into one another

14. Imagine Dragons – Not Today

There she goes in front of me Take my life and set me free again We’ll make a memory out of it Holy road is at my back Don’t look on, take me back again

We’ll make a memory out of it We finally fall apart and we break each other’s hearts

If we wanna live young, love, we better start today It’s gotta get easier, oh easier somehow

‘Cause I’m falling, I’m falling Oh easier and easier somehow

Oh I’m calling, I’m calling And it isn’t over, unless it is over I don’t wanna wait for that It’s gotta get easier and easier somehow But not today Not today

15. Mumford & Sons – Hopeless Wanderer

You heard my voice, I came out of the woods by choice Shelter also gave their shade But in the dark I have no name So leave that click in my head And I will remember the words that you said Left a clouded mind and a heavy heart But I am sure we could see a new start So when your hopes on fire But you know your desire Don’t hold a glass over the flame Don’t let your heart grow cold I will call you by name I will share your road

But hold me fast, hold me fast ‘Cause I’m a hopeless wanderer And hold me fast, hold me fast ‘Cause I’m a hopeless wanderer

16. Paper Lions – Travelling

Travelling the road, last known is where I want to be My compass directing, electing, an open road with golden trees But there’s an old man in need on the ground, I try not to make a sound He holds out his hand as I walk away, I hear him say

Please don’t be a stranger in my place Travelling come to a tavern for a momentary rest

I see the old man that I passed on the road in his distress As I turned to go I can hear him say, “Son, stay. Have a drink, I’ll pay.” Let bygones be gone, it’s all in the past, we raise a glass Please don’t be a stranger in my place

What if I could be what you wanted me to be What if I could see what you wanted me to see Come on and show me Please don’t be a stranger in my place

17. Ramon Mirabet – Home Is Where The Heart is

Shining sun means new start.

it’s time for me to face my fate

and follow my heart.

I’m coming home,

I’m coming home.

home is where the heart is.

it’s never late to find the answer up in the stars.

19. Our adventure – The Long Valley

20. The Weeknd – Wanderlust

Is it so hard to say the same thing? And you’re so weak to say the same thing And burn a hole into your apprehensiveness And let the wildfire shine And repeat after me

Good girls go to heaven, And bad girls go everywhere And tonight I will love you And tomorrow you won’t care

You’re in love with something bigger than love You believe in something stronger than trust

Wanderlust Wanderlust

21. Creed – With Arms Wide Open

With arms wide open Under the sunlight Welcome to this place I’ll show you everything With arms wide open With arms wide open

22. The Lumineers – Ho Hey

I been trying to do it right (Hey) I been living a lonely life (Ho) I been sleepin’ here instead (Hey) I been sleepin’ in my bed (Ho) I been sleepin’ in my bed (hey ho)

so show me family (Hey) all the blood that I will bleed (Ho) I don’t know where I belong (Hey) I don’t know where I went wrong (Ho) but I can write a song (hey)

23. Bastille – Pompeii

I was left to my own devices Many days fell away with nothing to show

And the walls kept tumbling down In the city that we love Grey clouds roll over the hills Bringing darkness from above

But if you close your eyes Does it almost feel like Nothing changed at all? And if you close your eyes Does it almost feel like You’ve been here before?

24. Green day – Time of your life

Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go

So make the best of this test, and don’t ask why It’s not a question, but a lesson learned in time It’s something unpredictable, but in the end it’s right I hope you had the time of your life

So take the photographs, and still-frames in your mind Hang them on a shelf in good health and good time Tattoo’s of memories and dead skin on trial For what it’s worth, it was worth all the while

It’s something unpredictable, but in the end it’s right I hope you had the time of your life

25. The Script – Hall of Fame

Yeah, you could be the greatest You can be the best

You can be the King Kong banging on your chest You could beat the world You could beat the war

26. Red Hot Chili Peppers – Road Trippin’

Road trippin’ with my two favorite allies Fully loaded we got snacks and supplies It’s time to leave this town it’s time to steal away Let’s go get lost anywhere in the U.S.A.

Let’s go get lost, let’s go get lost

Blue you sit so pretty West of the one Sparkles light with yellow icing, just a mirror for the sun Just a mirror for the sun Just a mirror for the sun

These smiling eyes are just a mirror for So much as come before those battles lost and won This life is shining more forever in the sun Now let us check our heads and let us check the surf Staying high and dry’s More trouble than it’s worth in the sun

27. Moby – Porcelain

If you love somebody Better tell them why they’re here ’cause They just may run away from you

You’ll never know what went well Then again it just depends on How long of time is left for you

I’ve had the highest mountains I’ve had the deepest rivers You can have it all but not til you move it

29. Part-Time Friends – Here We Are

Silence Ici nos âmes tutoient le ciel Et nos hymnes éternels

Here we are L’aube de nos dernières transes Laisse un vide immense

Here we are Je t’emmène une dernière fois suivre cette lumière qui ne s’éteint pas

Here we are Something rise and fall We thought we never lost control

Here we are

30. Crystal Fighters – Love Natural

Everyone, anyone who want to hear Move in a little closer, let me tell you about A love natural, oh that love actual Love that you just can’t help feeling

When feelings with meanings keep on appearing And it’s almost midnight, the time is coming up The time is getting closer, the time is almost here Life is upon us and the time for love is here and now

When I look at you, oh I feel my heart Oh, I feel your love deep inside

33. José González – Stay Alive

There’s a rhythm in rush these days Where the lights don’t move and the colors don’t fade Leaves you empty with nothing but dreams

In a world gone shallow In a world gone lean

Sometimes there’s things a man cannot know Gears won’t turn and the leaves won’t grow There’s no place to run and no gasoline

Engine won’t turn And the train won’t leave

Engines won’t turn and the train won’t leave I will stay with you tonight

Hold you close ‘til the morning light In the morning watch a new day rise We’ll do whatever just to stay alive We’ll do whatever just to stay alive

34. Don’t fight it, Feel it – AronChupa

Moving up your spine

Matador Original Series

28 songs that capture the spirit of travel (with videos).

T HERE’S A GOOD reason many of us take music with us when we travel; it can transport us — back home, away from an overcrowded bus, or through a restless night.

Music helps us connect to others — to fellow travelers who might share our taste in songs and to locals who might not speak our language but can carry the rhythm.

For those of us with gipsy blood, music can speak to who we are and why it is that we can never seem to settle down. Music engenders a desire to see a new place, or to travel simply for the joy of the journey.

In the few minutes that a song lasts, the ember of wanderlust inside us can be stoked into a bonfire that can’t be ignored. Suddenly, we’re inspired to earn that money, book that flight, pack that bag — do whatever it takes to get back on the road.

So here I present thirty songs that best capture the spirit of travel.

Go ahead and load up your phone, slip on your earphones, and crank up the tunes. Who knows where these songs will take you.

Certain songs take you immediately to a specific place. They precisely capture somewhere you’ve been or inspire you to plan a trip to the locale forever locked in lyrics.

Other songs don’t name names, but in your mind, the place evoked by the tune is so exact you have no doubt what town, city, or country the singer is crooning about…until you meet another traveler who pictures an entirely different place every time that song is played.

1. Carolina in My Mind by James Taylor

Who doesn’t see that Carolina sunshine or feel that moonshine when this classic comes through the speakers? I certainly hear “the highway calling” each time this song appears on my play list.

The vivid imagery of this song–colored cottons, charming cobras–brings this famed Moroccan city right to life. Can you resist its call?

Come on, I couldn’t leave this one off, could I? It’s classic.

Strange and bewildering is certainly one way to describe this town. If you’ve been there, I’m sure you can think of many other fitting adjectives.

5. Graceland by Paul Simon

On the surface, sure, it’s a song about Memphis, but I think we all have our own Graceland, that place where we go for reasons we can’t explain, with the hope of being well received.

In each of our histories, there’s that “happy little foreign town,” where we danced, laughed, and were in love with every minute of every day. It’s the place we find a way to go back to time and again, even if just in our memories.

It’s the town not in any guidebook, the one you found when you got off the train at the wrong stop or surreptitiously shared a hostel room with someone who had just come from there. It’s the restaurant without a sign, the guestroom tucked away in a back alley, the beach you’ll never be able to find again…but will always remember.

Songs About How To Travel

A common maxim reminds us that it’s not the destination, but the journey that matters. If it’s about the journey, then the method of transportation is important.

By boat, by train, by foot, by car…the manner in which we travel plays a large role in the way in which we experience the world.

8. Proud Mary by CCR

Is it possible to listen to this song and not want to give up that “good job in the city” to “hitch a ride on a river boat queen”? Whether it’s on the Mississippi, the Amazon, the Nile, the Ganges, or some smaller, quieter river, boats are a great throwback way to travel.

I’m not sure you can call yourself a traveler if you’ve never made at least one trip by train, passing time playing cards with friends and watching the world pass outside your window.

Songs About the Reasons We Travel

We each have our private reasons for taking a trip, but there are common themes that link travelers.

Often we journey in search of something–ourselves, love, adventure, understanding, the place we belong. Sometimes we go simply because we can’t stand to stay where we are or because of an almost desperate urge for movement.

And in some cases, there is no reason. We travel simply because we are travelers.

Stay in one place too long and sometimes it really seems that you can feel the grass growing underfoot. That’s when you know for certain that it’s time to move on.

10. The World at Large by Modest Mouse

With the changing of seasons comes a desire for a change of scenery. The migrating instinct awakes in our souls.

While every trip might be a search for somewhere new or different, it’s also true that every journey away from home is an opportunity to better understand the place from which we come.

You have them – the friends who stayed at home and settled down. You look at their lives and can’t imagine finding happiness that way. They, on the other hand, look at your life and wonder why you always have to take “the long way around.” Different strokes, right?

Some people are content to sit on the shorelines, but those of us who travel know that we’ve got to get out there and chance the rapids, dance in the tides, and follow the dream wherever it leads.

As Steven Tyler sings, “our hopes and dreams are out there somewhere.” We can stay where we are and hope our dreams come to us or we can go out and find that better place. I’m not seeing much of a choice here.

If you live for that feeling of freedom that comes with arriving in a destination where no one knows you, there’s nothing in the world that can hold you down.

16. Ramble On by Led Zeppelin

Is it love that we’re all looking for as we ramble on? Maybe… though not necessarily romantic love. Love of a place, love of a time, love of life itself.

Sometimes the road is lonely and the destination isn’t always clear, but the dream is always big enough to compel us to walk down that road time and time again.

Trying to explain why you travel to those who’d rather stay in one place is often futile. You’re coming from places too far apart, so sometimes the best answer (and maybe the true answer) is simply that you were “born a ramblin’ man.”

Songs that Capture the Joy of Travel

At the end of the day, what most often inspires us to go is the ecstasy of travel, pure and simple. The frustrations of airports, the struggles with packing, and the tedium of days spent working all fade away when you set off on your journey.

Who hasn’t scanned the departures at the airport and recalled all the places that they’ve already been and made plans for the places still to be explored?

Going places that you’ve never been, seeing things that you’ve never seen, making music with your friends…isn’t that what travel is all about?

The only question this song leaves to ponder is: what day isn’t a good day to run?

Fly the skies, see the seas, run around all the continents. Go ahead, roam without a care.

I’m not sure it’s possible to resist this siren’s call to walk with her in yellow-grassed fields, to stand with her atop a mountain, to lie with her under a tin roof in the rain. It’s travel the romantic way.

23. Fly Away by Lenny Kravitz

Just think of all the places you would visit if you could fly, taking off with every whim. And travel without the hassle of the airport…I’m not sure it gets better than that.

Windows down, gas tank full, an open road in front of you. This song demands that you sing along as you see the world from behind the wheel.

When you’re able to find home on the road, you know that you’ve reached a new level of travel and you no longer care how the world defines you.

Though I’ve yet to actually meet anyone who can claim they’ve been everywhere, there certainly are a lot of people trying. Regardless of whether you like to hit as many spots as you can or take it slow and easy through one place, rambling through the many places listed in this song is always fun.

Everybody wants to be king of something, and if you’re a traveler, there’s no better kingdom than the road.

28. Around the World by the Red Hot Chili Peppers

No arguing here. Life is indeed beautiful all around the world.

Celeste Barber reveals her exciting new project with Body+Soul

While getting your hands on Eras Tour tickets proved to be an impossible task for most of us Swifties, we think you’ll have better luck shopping these Taylor-approved workout pieces.

Last week, Taylor Swift dropped the long-awaited music video for her hit track, I Can Do It With A Broken Heart (watch here ), giving fans an inside glimpse into her rigorous rehearsal schedule throughout the global Eras Tour.

Not only does the video shine a light on the star’s choreography and behind-the-scenes tour prep, but it also reveals Swift’s go-to choices when it comes to activewear.

And thanks to the detailed eye of fashion blogger and Swift mega-fan Sarah Chapelle , we know the exact brands behind the popstar’s rehearsal kits.

The best exercises to look better in any outfit

Sadly, like anything Swift touches, most of the pieces featured in her music video rehearsal footage promptly sold out all over the internet.

Because, if something’s good enough to prepare Swift for one of the world’s gruelling shows in pop history, it’s certainly good enough for our Sunday morning Reformer class.

But in a tale as old as time, most items belong to more local US brands that aren’t yet available to us Aussies. But fear not, Swifties, because we’ve curated a list of Taylor-esque activewear pieces that are sure to leave you feeling extra ‘Gorgeous’.

Apple Music Users Can Now Transfer Their Playlists to YouTube Music

  • Laurent Giret
  • Aug 28, 2024

Apple Music

Apple has published a new tool that lets Apple Music users transfer their playlists to YouTube Music. The company mentioned the new web-based tool in a support page spotted by MacRumors , and YouTube Music is currently the only music service where Apple Music users can transfer their playlists.

Apple’s music transfer service is available from the company’s Data and Privacy page , and it requires an Apple Music or iTunes Match subscription. There,  users will need to choose “Transfer a copy of your data” and follow the instructions to transfer their playlists to their YouTube Music account.

Apple’s support page details that transferring playlists to YouTube Music won’t delete them from Apple Music. Only the playlists that Apple Music users have created (including collaborative playlists) will be transferred, and shared playlists and the ones curated by Apple will be excluded. And as you can probably expect, user-uploaded audio files and songs that aren’t available on YouTube Music will also be left out.

Various third-party tools already exist for transferring playlists between music streaming services, but they’re usually not free. It’s good that Apple is now offering a free transfer tool, but it remains to be seen if the company will add support for Spotify and other services down the line. And it will likely be a while until all music streaming services offer a similar tool, if they ever do it.

Update 11:40 AM ET : A separate Apple support page details how to transfer a copy of your YouTube Music playlists to Apple Music using Google Takeout, but it doesn’t seem to be working as of this writing. The linked Google Takeout page says that Apple Music support is “coming soon.”

【ネタバレ】Mr.Childrenアリーナツアー『Miss you』仙台公演【ミスチル】

ねぶ

「Mr.Children tour 2024 miss you arena tour」Teaser

travel videos with music

travel videos with music

Mr.Children「365日」Mr.Children TOUR POPSAURUS 2012

Mr.Children 「終わりなき旅」 MUSIC VIDEO

Mr.Children 「優しい歌」 MUSIC VIDEO

Sioux Falls Children’s Choir singer denied stage access at Foreigner concert

S IOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - The Sioux Falls Children’s Choir had the opportunity of a lifetime to sing on stage with the rock band Foreigner on Wednesday night after winning a contest in May.

What would have been Halle Bauman’s final time singing with the children’s choir became memorable for the wrong reasons.

Her family heard that she wouldn’t be allowed on stage with the rest of the group due to her being in a wheelchair and the stage management saying they were unable to accommodate her.

Twelve-year-old Bauman doesn’t let her disability slow her down.

“I’m a normal person and I think it’s just important that people realize that,” Halle said. “That like, a wheelchair does not define who a person is and a disability does not define the person.”

Among all of her interests, she feels at home when performing. She’s talented in acting and singing and was proud of her involvement in the Sioux Falls Children’s Choir.

Leading up to the concert, there was plenty of excitement for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

“I was definitely excited about just singing on a stage with a band with my friends,” Halle explained.

Sadly, it was followed by an abrupt disappointment from a phone call they received while on their way to the concert.

“I was talking on speaker phone and I wasn’t expecting to get bad news. Halle received the news along with me and it was pretty difficult to see her face crumple and see her start to cry as she heard someone saying she’s not going to be allowed to participate because of her wheelchair,” Halle’s mother Christa Bauman remembered.

“It was just shocking, I guess. I mean, I was mad,” Halle said.

With Halle beginning 7th grade and aging out of the children’s choir program, the concert would have been her last performance with the group.

It was a likely miscommunication that led to claims that staff didn’t know someone in a wheelchair was performing until the day of.

The likely miscommunication left the group surprised considering that SFCC executive and artistic director Kaela Schuiteman and Christa Bauman both said they reached out to Foreigner’s management and the Premier Center respectively.

“Which means that several people dropped the ball because I had sent many emails and talked on the phone and had told many people that we had a singer in a wheelchair, reminding them, reminding them, reminding them because I’ve had to do that for other situations with Halle and always calling ahead and making sure and double checking and triple checking. That led to the shock. We had no idea how they could not know and then because of that, they said there wasn’t time to switch up the stage. There wasn’t time to put a ramp up there and there wasn’t time to move their fireworks off or make them safe so that she could be up there. It was supposedly a liability to have her up there in her wheelchair,” Schuiteman said.

Not only did Schuiteman inform multiple people, but she informed them early on after receiving the invitation.

“We would not have accepted the performance opportunity if she couldn’t be a part of it. It still seemed like there should be a way to make it work,” recalled Schuiteman.

Through it all, the choir supported Halle. Schuiteman noted that Halle’s energy, smile and voice were noticeably missing when her friends were on stage.

“I think she’s important, the choir thinks she’s important and now look at all these community members that are rallying behind her and care about her and want to send her all their love, too,” said Schuiteman.

The choir group was conflicted about whether or not to still go on stage without Halle.

“I don’t think that taking [the opportunity to sing on stage] away from them would have fixed this for us, but it does mean a lot,” Christa explained.

Ultimately, the Bauman family doesn’t want to make things about themselves. The growing attention and support in the aftermath won’t change what happened, but they want to use their newfound platform to advocate for more accessibility so their situation doesn’t happen again.

“It’s not about us. It’s not just about Halle. It’s about equality and inclusion and civil rights. We have the ADA in this country for a reason and it is clearly violated regularly. We’d like to see that change. People would say, ‘I can’t believe this is happening in 2024.’ Unfortunately, it is. It happens every day. People are discriminated against based on their disability. We hope that this doesn’t happen again and we hope for an apology and we hope for change,” Christa said.

Halle will move forward keeping her head held high and despite the difficulties she faces, she tries to live with a positive attitude.

“Kids do sports and things on teams, so I think singing and stuff like that is just something I can do. I’ve made a lot of friends. I just try to be happy about things, look at the bright side of things and just do normal things 12-year-old girls do.”

“I’m super proud [of Halle],” said Halle’s father, Steve Bauman. “She’s resilient and handled it well and just embraced the positives in it with how she’s been supported. I just think it’s good to see the way she can overcome something and kind of move on.”

Halle’s parents hope that she feels encouraged that she’s loved and supported and hope she feels comfortable advocating for herself.

The Denny Sanford Premier Center’s general manager told Dakota News Now that they offered some ideas to find a way to get Halle on stage, but ultimately they needed to respect the decision of Foreigner’s management.

Dakota News Now reached out to Foreigner’s management and has not received a response at the time of publishing.

Jeff Pilson, the band’s bassist, took to social media to apologize for the incident.

“Foreigner wants to extend our sincerest apologies to the 12-year-old singer from the Sioux Falls Children’s Choir who was denied stage access due to her wheelchair. We’re deeply disappointed in the mistake made by our team and understand the impact it had on this talented young fan. We believe music should be inclusive for all and are taking steps to ensure our shows are accessible to everyone. We hope to make it up to her and her family, and we’re committed to doing better in the future,” wrote Pilson.

Where Kamala Harris Stands on the Issues: Abortion, Immigration and More

She wants to protect the right to abortion nationally. Here’s what else to know about her positions.

By Maggie Astor

  • Published July 21, 2024 Updated Aug. 24, 2024

With Vice President Kamala Harris having replaced President Biden on the Democratic ticket, her stances on key issues will be scrutinized by both parties and the nation’s voters.

She has a long record in politics: as district attorney of San Francisco, as attorney general of California, as a senator, as a presidential candidate and as vice president.

Here is an overview of where she stands.

Ms. Harris supports legislation that would protect the right to abortion nationally, as Roe v. Wade did before it was overturned in 2022, in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.

After the Dobbs ruling, she became central to the Biden campaign’s efforts to keep the spotlight on abortion, given that Mr. Biden — with his personal discomfort with abortion and his support for restrictions earlier in his career — was a flawed messenger. In March, she made what was believed to be the first official visit to an abortion clinic by a president or vice president.

She consistently supported abortion rights during her time in the Senate, including cosponsoring legislation that would have banned common state-level restrictions, like requiring doctors to perform specific tests or have hospital admitting privileges in order to provide abortions.

As a presidential candidate in 2019, she argued that states with a history of restricting abortion rights in violation of Roe should be subject to what is known as pre-clearance for new abortion laws — those laws would have to be federally approved before they could take effect. That proposal is not viable now that the Supreme Court has overturned Roe.

Climate change

Ms. Harris has supported the Biden administration’s climate efforts , including legislation that provided hundreds of billions of dollars in tax credits and rebates for renewable energy and electric vehicles.

“It is clear the clock is not just ticking, it is banging,” she said in a speech last year , referring to increasingly severe and frequent disasters spurred by climate change. “And that is why, one year ago, President Biden and I made the largest climate investment in America’s history.”

During her 2020 presidential campaign, she emphasized the need for environmental justice , a framework that calls for policies to address the adverse effects that climate change has on poor communities and people of color. She has emphasized that as vice president as well.

In 2019, Ms. Harris, then a senator, and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Democrat of New York, introduced legislation that would have evaluated environmental rules and laws by how they affected low-income communities. It would have also established an independent Office of Climate and Environmental Justice Accountability and created a “senior adviser on climate justice” within several federal agencies. In 2020, Ms. Harris introduced a more sweeping version of the bill. None of the legislation was passed.

Ms. Harris was tasked with leading the Biden administration’s efforts to secure voting rights legislation, a job she asked for . The legislation — which went through several iterations but was ultimately blocked in the Senate — would have countered voting restrictions in Republican-led states, limited gerrymandering and regulated campaign finance more strictly.

This year, she met with voting rights advocates and described a strategy that included creating a task force on threats to election workers and challenging state voting restrictions in court.

She has condemned former President Donald J. Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election results. In a speech in 2022 marking the anniversary of the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol, she said that day had showed “what our nation would look like if the forces who seek to dismantle our democracy are successful.” She added, “What was at stake then, and now, is the right to have our future decided the way the Constitution prescribes it: by we the people, all the people.”

Economic policy

In campaign events this year, Ms. Harris has promoted the Biden administration’s economic policies, including the infrastructure bill that Mr. Biden signed, funding for small businesses, a provision in the Inflation Reduction Act that capped the cost of insulin for people on Medicare and student debt forgiveness.

She indicated at an event in May that the administration’s policies to combat climate change would also bring economic benefits by creating jobs in the renewable energy industry. At another event , she promoted more than $100 million in Energy Department grants for auto parts manufacturers to pivot to electric vehicles, which she said would “help to keep our auto supply chains here in America.”

As a senator, she introduced legislation that would have provided a tax credit of up to $6,000 for middle- and low-income families, a proposal she emphasized during her presidential campaign as a way to address income inequality.

Immigration

One of Ms. Harris’s mandates as vice president has been to address the root causes of migration from Latin America, like poverty and violence in migrants’ home countries. Last year, she announced $950 million in pledges from private companies to support Central American communities. Similar commitments made previously totaled about $3 billion.

In 2021, she visited the U.S.-Mexico border and said : “This issue cannot be reduced to a political issue. We’re talking about children, we’re talking about families, we are talking about suffering.”

More recently, she backed a bipartisan border security deal that Mr. Biden endorsed but Mr. Trump, by urging Republican lawmakers to kill it , effectively torpedoed. The legislation would have closed the border if crossings reached a set threshold, and it would have funded thousands of new border security agents and asylum officers. “We are very clear, and I think most Americans are clear, that we have a broken immigration system and we need to fix it,” Ms. Harris said in March .

Israel and Gaza

Ms. Harris called in March for an “immediate cease-fire” in Gaza and described the situation there as a “humanitarian catastrophe.” She said that “the threat Hamas poses to the people of Israel must be eliminated” but also that “too many innocent Palestinians have been killed.”

In an interview later that month , she emphasized her opposition to an Israeli invasion of Rafah, the city in southern Gaza to which more than a million people had fled. “I have studied the maps,” she said. “There’s nowhere for those folks to go, and we’re looking at about 1.5 million people in Rafah who are there because they were told to go there, most of them.”

She has said on multiple occasions that she supports a two-state solution.

Racial justice

Racial justice was a theme of Ms. Harris’s presidential campaign. In a memorable debate exchange in 2019 , she denounced Mr. Biden’s past work with segregationist senators and opposition to school busing mandates.

She has called for ending mandatory minimum sentences, cash bail and the death penalty, which disproportionately affect people of color.

Amid the protests that followed the police killing of George Floyd in 2020, she was one of the senators who introduced the Justice in Policing Act, which would have made it easier to prosecute police officers, created a national registry of police misconduct and required officers to complete training on racial profiling. It was not passed.

Her record as a prosecutor also came into play during her presidential campaign. Critics noted that as attorney general of California, she had generally avoided stepping in to investigate police killings.
