How to Choose the Perfect Name for Your RV

First, you’ve got to decide whether you want clever camper names or funny RV names. It really helps narrow down your decision.

Maybe you are not looking for cool names but would prefer something sentimental, instead. For instance, naming your camper after a lost family member. Or after a place that you lived or a movie that inspired your wanderlust.

Whatever makes you smile when you say the name is what you should use!

Second, do you want a name that will appear on your RV? For instance, do you want to make a vinyl decal or a window sticker and have everyone see the name? If so, you might not want to have “The Love Machine” across your back window for half of America to see! (Or maybe you do….)

Finally, will you have a tow vehicle? Do you want a name combination that includes your vehicle and your trailer? For instance, Elroy and Judy (from the Jetsons). Or Thelma and Louise.

How to Choose and RV Brand

Ah, the joys of RVing! The open road, the endless possibilities, the freedom to go where you please. But with so many different RV brands out there, how do you choose the one that’s right for you? Fear not, dear adventurer, for I am here to help you on your quest to find the perfect RV brand.

First things first, consider your needs. What type of RV are you looking for? Do you want a small and nimble travel trailer, or a spacious and luxurious motorhome? Do you want a brand with a long history of producing top-quality RVs, or are you more interested in a newer brand with innovative designs?

Next, think about your budget. RVs can range in price from a few thousand dollars to several hundred thousand, so it’s important to have a clear idea of what you can afford. Don’t forget to factor in the ongoing costs of owning an RV, such as maintenance and storage fees.

chairs next to an RV by the sunset

Once you have a good idea of what you’re looking for and how much you can spend, it’s time to start researching different brands. Take the time to read reviews, ask for recommendations from fellow RVers, and visit RV shows and dealerships to get a feel for the different options available.

And don’t be afraid to think outside the box! Just because a brand isn’t well-known or popular doesn’t mean they don’t make great RVs. Some of the best RVs are made by lesser-known brands, so keep an open mind and consider all your options.

In the end, the most important thing is to choose a brand that meets your needs and fits your budget. So don’t rush into a decision, do your research, and happy RVing!

Published on May 23rd, 2022 by Ray & Tammy Roman This post was updated on October 5th, 2023

One of the most frequent questions we get from new and experienced RV enthusiasts alike is: What are the best travel trailer brands to consider buying? The Gold Standard: How Do You Choose the Best Travel Trailer Brands of 2023?

What distinguishes the elite from the average in the world of travel trailers? After analyzing feedback from RV enthusiasts and combing through industry reviews, we have identified three things to keep in mind as you shop for your ultimate travel trailer brand.

1. Road-Tested Reliability

When it comes to RVs, it’s not a question of if you’ll encounter issues, but when. With that in mind, the reliability of a travel trailer should be your most critical consideration. The most trusted travel trailer brands inspire confidence based on sterling reviews. That feedback isn’t just from RV industry cheerleaders, but from the real experts – everyday RV owners like you and me.

Don’t fall for the shiny objects shown in walk-through YouTube reviews. Instead, dig deeper and seek out firsthand experiences from actual owners. Start with RV communities such as the iRV2 Discussion Forums . This is one of many excellent ways to get unbiased ratings and insights from owners of the brands you are curious about. Start engaging in discussions about the real-world performance and reliability of the camper you’re interested in.

2. Value for Your Money

Price matters, but not always in the way you might think. While we all love a bargain, when it comes to travel trailers that a lower sticker price can often be a sign of mass production that leads to compromised quality. As with any purchase, affordability is important, but it shouldn’t come at the cost of quality. The best travel trailer brands offer the highest value for the price point with above-average durability, thoughtful design, and overall quality.

3. Customer-First Service

The best travel trailers in the world can’t make up for a poor customer service experience. When investing in a travel trailer, you’re not just buying an RV. You are entering into a relationship. The industry’s top-tier travel trailer brands on our list understand this and prioritize customer satisfaction. From the initial contact with the manufacturer to after-sales support from the dealer and any warranty work in the future, they make it a prioirty to keep customers happy.

Not all travel trailer brands or their affiliated dealers shine in this area. Explore Google reviews about your local RV dealers that carry the brand you are considering. An overwhelming amount of negative customer feedback may be a telltale sign to look elsewhere.

The Top 10 Best Travel Trailer Brands List

Choosing the best RV trailer brands isn’t easy. There are hundreds of trailer brands and thousands of models. I selected these brands and models based on hundreds of RV user reviews. The following list of camper brands is known for their commitment to quality and value. They are also known for providing excellent customer service and timely warranty repairs. Here are the manufacturers that make our cut.

Now let’s review these brands and their best models to consider buying for your next travel trailer purchase. Remember, take your time to research, visit dealerships, attend RV shows, and even rent different models. This will give you a feel for what suits you best. The adventure of RVing begins even before you hit the road. It starts right here with the exciting process of choosing your home on wheels from among the best travel trailer brands in 2023.

#2. grand design rv imagine.

Grand Design RV is another one of the best travel trailer brands. They have a loyal and raving fan base that considers their travel trailers some better overall brands in the industry.

Happy Grand Design Travel Trailer owners (Image: @AKA…Neil, iRV2 Forums member)

I have seen many owner reviews of Grand Design campers who rave about the quality of these units and the outstanding customer service. For me, a list of the best travel trailer brands would not be complete without Grand Design.

The company is located in Middlebury, IN. All their towables and fifth wheels come with a 3-year limited structural warranty. Imagine XLS is one of my favorites due to its excellent styling, features, and amenities. Grand Design has only been around since 2001 and today it operates as an independent business within Winnebago Industries. This line of campers is definitely on our short list of the best travel trailer brands in 2023.

Why I Recommend the Grand Design Imagine

The Imagine travel trailer line is my preferred bumper-pull from this RV manufacturer. There are several reasons I like the Imagine trailer. First off, it comes in 21 different floor plans. Even the smallest model comes with a queen-sized bed. There is no way I would want a travel trailer with anything smaller than a queen bed.

Grand Design Imagine Specifications

11 different floor plans in 3 lines, length: from 19 ft 11-inches to 36-feet 11-inches, one-piece roof membrane with 12-year warranty, arctic 4-seasons package, aluminum framed fully laminated sidewalls, uvw: 3,560 lbs to 8,394 lbs, gel-coated fiberglass exterior, double-insulated floor, roof, and front cap, heated and enclosed dump valves, factory installed rv solar power system.

The Imagine is also loaded with a ton of standard features. Here are just a few of the ones that stand out for me and for what I’m looking for:

Solid hardwood drawer fronts

Upgraded residential furniture, large double door refrigerator, large panoramic windows, residential quality countertops, 3-burner range with oven.

#3. oliver legacy elite 2.

The Oliver brand makes high-quality luxury fiberglass trailers in their Tennessee manufacturing facility. The company, which was started by twin brothers Jim and John Oliver, was formed in 2008.

Oliver manufactures fiberglass trailer with a blend of luxury and resilience that’s hard to beat. Imagine a travel trailer built like a fortress, designed to withstand whatever Mother Nature might throw at it. That’s what Oliver offers – each trailer is constructed with a double-hull fiberglass shell. This gives superior protection against all weather conditions. It’s not inexpensive, but is a testament to the brand’s commitment to quality and durability.

The company gets that we’re all different and have our own ideas about what makes the perfect RV. That’s why they offer a wide range of customization options. Whether it’s a specific floor layout, an advanced solar power system, or leather upholstery, Oliver makes it happen. It’s like getting a tailor-made suit, but this one’s an RV made to fit your camping style and needs.

The Oliver Legacy Elite 2

Inside the Legacy Elite 2 (Image: Oliver Travel Trailers)

The Oliver Legacy Elite 2 pictured above is my favorite model and probably one of their top-rated all-fiberglass campers. I like the Elite 2 for several reasons. I like that it has a dry weight of just 4,600 pounds. It can be towed with a good truck or full-size SUV. Keep in mind that 4,600 pounds is just the dry weight. For towing, you need to consider cargo weight too.

The Legacy Elite 2 comes in two-floor plans. One with twin beds and the with a dinette to 75″ x 79″ bed conversion. This model is loaded with standard features.

Oliver Legacy Elite 2 Specifications

Full custom molded interior and exterior insulated shells, plumbing, holding tanks, and drain pipes are enclosed between shells with heat to diminish the risk of freezing, quad shocks on dual dexter leaf spring axles, “nev-r-adjust” electric brakes for exceptional control and braking, molded vanity, norcold 3-way refrigerator 4.5 cubic ft. (12v, 11ov, lp), 15′ dometic awning, 22″ flat screen lcd tv, custom mounted speakers (4).

Oliver Travel Trailers are worth the money if you are shopping for a new RV. Their unique blend of luxury, superior construction, thoughtful design, customizability, and top-tier customer service, makes these fiberglass trailers a trustworthy companion on your road adventures.

#4. winnebago industries – micro minnie.

Another of our selected best travel trailers is Winnebago. With a history spanning over 50 years, Winnebago is a well-known and respected brand in the RV industry. Headquartered in Forest River, Iowa, the company builds a huge selection of RVs, including high-quality motorhomes, campers, fifth wheels, and toy haulers.

Winnebago Micro Minnie (Image: Winnebago)

Winnebago makes five popular travel trailer models as of 2023. One of the best travel trailer brands for new RVers and experienced ones alike is the Micro Minnie (which replaced the older Minnie Drop model that made our former list of the best travel trailers.

What I Like About the Micro Minnie

When it comes to striking a balance between compactness and living comfort, the Micro Minnie travel trailers hit the nail right on the head. These little marvels of RV engineering manage to pack a ton of amenities into a small, easy-to-tow package, proving that you don’t have to go big to enjoy the perks of home on the road.

Despite their size, Micro Minnies don’t skimp on the essentials. Step inside to enjoy a fully-equipped kitchen that comes with a double-door refrigerator, a three-burner stove, and even a microwave. So, whether you’re warming up last night’s leftovers or cooking a full-course meal, you’ve got everything you need right there.

Winnebago Micro Minnie Specifications

11 floor plans, exterior lengths from 20’5″ to 25’5″, interior height: 6’4″, exterior height: 10’5″, dry weight: 3,755 to 4,651, gvwr: 5,500 to 6,000 lbs., gray water holding tank capacity: 25 gal., black water holding tank capacity: 25 gal..

A key aspect of Micro Minnies’ appeal is their towability. With a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 5,500 to 6,000 pounds, depending on the model, they can be comfortably towed by a variety of vehicles. Mid-size SUVs, pickup trucks, and some of the beefier crossovers make suitable companions for these compact travel trailers.

#5. happier camper hc1.

If you’re looking for an ultralight travel trailer that brings a smile to your face and makes RVing a breeze, Happier Camper travel trailers are it. These compact and retro lightweight travel trailers are winning the hearts of people who want a small trailer that can be towed by a typical passenger car.

Happier Camper HC1 travel trailer (Image: Happier Camper)

Happier Camper trailers are incredibly versatile. Their “Adaptiv” furniture anf cabinetry are made as modular cubes. This lets you customize the layout to suit your specific needs for any camping trip. The modular system includes lightweight cubes that can be rearranged to create a comfortable sleeping area, a cozy dining space, or even a mobile office for those who can’t leave work behind.

Each trailer’s retro-inspired design pays homage to the iconic campers of the past while incorporating modern amenities. With their vibrant colors, rounded shapes, and nostalgic appeal, Happier Camper trailers turn heads wherever they go. One thing to keep in mind with the Happier Camper is that it does not have a typical toilet setup. The Happier Camper has a “ Dry Flush” toilet for RVs . That is the only drawback I see to this camper trailer. Remember, it is small, so don’t expect much room, but that is how it’s been designed. It’s modern, and makes exceptional use of the small interior.

#6. starcraft rv autumn ridge.

Another of our picks with a long history in the RV industry, Starcraft, started making metal farm equipment in 1903. In 1968 they began manufacturing campers. Today, what sets Starcraft apart from other small, affordable trailers is its smart construction. Made with TuffShell, Starcraft’s unique fiberglass wall construction, all Starcraft trailers give superior durability while remaining lightweight. This combination not only extends the lifespan of the RV but also makes towing a breeze, whether you tow with a full-size pickup or a mid-size SUV.

After dinner, you can relax in the comfortable seating area, perhaps catch a show on the LED TV.

What Makes The Autumn Ridge a Best Travel Trailer?

Prior to the Autumn Ridge, the 2019 Starcraft Mossy Oak travel trailer was my preferred choice. This was a spacious camper available in 11-floor plans, including several travel trailer models with bunk beds . The Mossy Oak came in lengths from 23’4″ to 36’5″, making it the best predecessor of the Starcraft Autumn Ridge. This new model has many choices for RV buyers, with features that will make you want to own one too.

What I Like About The Lance Camper 1685

Of the 12 models of travel trailers Lance Campers makes in 2023, I like the 1685 model est. There are several reasons. The 1685 is one of their lightest travel trailer models, featuring a dry weight of just 4,690 pounds. The interior is roomy and has lots of storage space available, and the floor plan is intelligently designed and laid out for maximum space efficiency. It includes a wet bath which I have stated before, is one of my personal preferences in any RV we buy.

Lance Camper 1685 Specifications

Gvwr: 6300 lbs, gross dry weight: 4690 lbs., hitch dry weight: 575 lbs., overall length: 21’5”, exterior height: 10’2”, convertible dinette bed: 54” x 78”, fresh tank: 45 gal., grey tank: 40 gal., black tank: 40 gal., refrigerator: 6 cu. ft..

For a small travel trailer, the Lance Camper 1685 is outfitted with generous holding tank capacities. This reduces the frequency of water refills and dump station visits.

#8. shasta rv 18fq.

A division of Forest River, Shasta travel trailers have been a reliable companion for road travelers since 1941. If you’ve been camping a long time, the toaster-like look of the original Shaster brings back memories. What I love about Shasta trailers is they’re a great buy for the money.

Shasta trailers offer a wide range of towing capacities. Because these campers are crafted with a sturdy, lightweight aluminum exterior, they are durable but don’t add extra weight. Whether you already own a large truck for towing, or a family SUV, these campers are a great choice for anyone just starting their RV journey. Experienced RVers looking for an upgrade also find them a great fit.

Why You Should Consider the Shasta 18FQ

Over the years, Shasta has trimmed their travel trailer line to just the Shasta model, which is available as a typical pull-behind and a travel trailer tow hauler. The pull-behind is available in a whopping 14 different floor plans. Of all those plans, my favorite is the 18FQ.

The 18FQ is very well laid out. Stepping inside, you can’t help but appreciate the attention to detail. Kitchens come equipped with a three-burner cooktop, a generous refrigerator, and a microwave oven, giving you all the conveniences of a home kitchen on the road. The 18FQ includes a 60″ x 74″ bed mattress with overhead storage space above and a clothes wardrobe on either side. It has a dry bath with a separate toilet and shower, medicine cabinet and a linen closet.

Comfortable sleeping arrangements, quality upholstery, and thoughtful layouts in Shasta trailers set up a homely environment that helps you relax after a day of exploration. You’ll keep comfy in any season with the 18FQ’s efficient climate control system, featuring ducted heating and optional air conditioning units. If you’re in search of a reliable, value-packed travel trailer that can match your love for the open road, a Shasta travel trailer is worth considering.

#9. jayco jay flight slx.

With over 50 years of industry experience, Jayco has been one of the better brands in the RV industry. They have a loyal following and have always been very responsive to their customers. In 2016 Jayco was purchased by Thor Industries, which owns Airstream, among many other companies. Jayco’s quality, service, and customer responsiveness remain intact after the purchase by one of the world’s largest RV industry manufacturers.

Jayco Jay Flight SLX 2023 (Image: Jayco)

he Jay Flight SLX series is one of Jayco’s top-selling lines. These campers tick all the boxes for both beginner and experienced RVers, by making travel trailers that are easy to tow, durable, and feature-packed.

Why I Like The Jay Flight SLX

Of all the travel trailer models Jayco manufactures, I prefer the Jay Flight SLX. First off, it’s not a huge camper and very light for its size. This makes the SLX very manageable when it comes to towing. In 2023 the Jay Flight SLX is available in 5 floorplans. The floorplan choices offer something for every RVer, including bunkhouse and queen bed walk around models. Two models have slideouts.

Some of the models feature a Simmons queen-size mattress which is a very comfortable camping mattress. I like that every Jay Flight SLX features a dry bath which is always nice. The bunk beds included in some models have a 4-inch mattress and a weight capacity of 300-pounds.

The galley has standard features such as two-range burners, a three cubic-foot fridge, a microwave, and solid-surface countertops. Chances are you are going to find a plan that works for your camping needs

Travel trailers. Camper trailers. Bumper pull campers. Towable trailer campers. They are known by a bunch of different names and come in just as many designs.

Today we are going to have an in-depth look at all the best travel trailer options on the market in 2022 . From big names like Jayco, Airstream, and Starcraft to some of the lesser-known brands that have captured the market’s attention in the last year – I have scoured the depths of the internet and traveled to more than my fair share of expo’s to bring you the most up to date info.

But, why choose a travel trailer over an RV?

Jayco 26rk 2021 white hawk, winnebago micro minnie 2108tb, heartland pioneer 250bh, airstream flying cloud, gulf stream ameri-lite 259bh, transcend xplor, oliver legacy elite, lance 2445 travel trailer, forest river no boundaries, the wrap up.

There are a few key reasons why someone might choose a travel trailer over a motorhome or RV.

For starters, the upfront price will be a lot lower for a travel trailer than an RV.  The smaller motor homes currently available on the market will set you back about $50,000 while travel trailers of a similar size are around $20,000 to $30,000 (although you can 100% pay double, triple, or even quadruple this depending on what you are looking for)

Travel trailers are also much cheaper to insure and maintain, and in general, are thought of as the better choice for casual campers who take shorter and less frequent trips.

Just like Hoover is to vacuum cleaners, or Kleenex is to tissues – Winnebago is a name synonymous with campers of all types, and for good reason.

Founded in 1958 in Forest City Iowa, the company survived a rough beginning and almost closed its doors after just 2 short years. Luckily, the hard times passed and the company survived, going on to produce its first camper in 1966.

These days they boast one of the most comprehensive camper trailer ranges, with 6 base travel trailer models and more than 30 floor plans to choose from.

I’m going to focus on the Winnebago Micro Minnie 2108TB  variation, as I feel it offers a great balance of room and features for a very competitive price! It boasts a seven-foot wide base with 10 optional floor plans (all of which can be viewed here –  https://www.winnebago.com/models/product/towables/travel-trailer/micro-minnie?floorplans=true )

Heartland have been in the business of travel trailers for more than 50 years, and boy does that experience show!

In this time, Heartland have built a reputation for producing reliable and easy-to-use camper trailers that are built to last.

This travel trailer has so many fantastic features packed into both the exterior and interior design. Innovative is an understatement!

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 10

In terms of the exterior, first up we have the “MEGA Bright Pass-Thru Storage”. This is an unrivaled storage system with 52 cubic feet of storage at your fingertips paired with oversized access doors for ease of use, LED lights on either side, and internal finishing to help protect your cargo.

The inbuilt power stabilizing jacks do a great job of quickly leveling and stabilizing the whole travel trailer and are controlled by a single button push. There is also a handy outdoor cooking station with a full grill and space to hook up your TV and exterior speaker.

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 11

The interior certainly is no slouch either. “H Blast AC” allows for unmatched cooling performance with up to double the amount of air conditioning ducts of rival models offering the most efficient air circulation possible. Heartland opted to go for no carpet interior, with ful linoleum on the main floor and slide outs to help with ease of cleaning.  The oversized panoramic Windows allow for almost floor to ceiling views and max ventilation.

Then we have the kitchen, and geez what a kitchen it is. An almost full size fridge is paired with a triple burner, a mid-sized oven, and a double basin sink!

In terms of build quality, some of the highlights are 5/8” Dyna Span floor decking, 80” interior roof height, 110 Volt 45 Amp power converter, aluminum front exterior metal and sides, fully walkable roof, an aerodynamic front profile, inbuilt water system winterization kit, the list goes on…

Airstream Travel Trailers

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 14

Airstream travel trailers are probably the most iconic campers on the market, and definitely the most easily recognisable. The gorgeous aerodynamic aluminum exterior cladding instantly turns heads and is just so aesthetically pleasing . I personally find some strange satisfaction watching one cruise by, and I am sure I’m not the only one.

It’s not just the exteriors that scream luxury. The interior design of each and every Airstream that I have had the pleasure of setting foot in is just as impressive as the shell. Thoughtfully and carefully crafted to last a lifetime, with all the fittings you expect from a high end travel trailer and then some.

SInce 1931, Airstream has been producing some of the absolute best camper trailers on the market. They are not the most expensive options out there, but airstreams certainly do not come cheap.

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 15

WIth 8 options in their current travel trailer line there is an option to suit any sized family,  but if you are asking for my favorite it’s hard to pass up the Airstream Flying Cloud. This is one of the highest rated travel trailers on RVinsider.com with an overall rating of 4.7 out of 5, so let’s jump in and see why everyone seems to love this unit!

There are more than 10 floor plans to choose from, but the one i got the chance to look at is the Flying Cloud 25RB

  • Price: Starting at $89,900
  • Length:  25 ft 11 in
  • Height : 9 ft 9 in
  • Weight Rating: 7,300 lbs

  • Fresh Water Tank Capacity: 39 Gallons
  • Gray Water Tank Capacity: 31 Gallons

The Airstream Flying Cloud 25RB comes with a very generously sized rear bedroom space with a full sized queen bed, a nightstand, a large LED TV,  and a wardrobe. The memory foam mattress that comes with the camper is surprisingly comfortable, and to be honest I think it’s nicer than my mattress at home…

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 16

The 42″ x 97″ dinette/bed is just so well designed and also super comfy. During the day the area is a perfect work or dining area, and once the sun goes down it converts into a sleeping area for up to 4 adults, although it’s actually better suited to no more than 3 in my opinion.

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 17

The kitchen area has everything you need to cater to a large family, with a decently sized fridge, a 3 burner cooktop, and a large convection microwave oven. There is also Quietstream Climate Control which does a fantastic job of both heating and cooling the cabin,  Ultraleather® Seating featured throughout the trailer , and just an overall smart use of the entire space! The whole interior is super tastefully finished, exactly what we have all come to expect from Airstream.

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 18

I don’t think I need to say too much about the exterior, as I think the majority of us know (and love) every Airstream. What I will say is that the build quality is second to none and will last decades with the appropriate care and maintenance. Overall, one of my favorite travel trailers that I have ever stepped foot in. grab all the details on all of Airstream’s travel trailers right here –  https://www.airstream.com/travel-trailers/

Gulfstream Travel Trailers

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 19

Are Gulfstream travel trailers as easy on the eye as our previously reviewed unit, the Airstream Flying Cloud? Well, no. But  Gulfstream travel trailers do have a long list of pros, starting at the price.  These budget-friendly campers offer a whole lot for less than half the asking price of an Airstream and do so without cutting corners or holding back on build quality.

Gulf Stream Coach, Inc. is based in Nappanee, Indiana with factories dotted all around the state. It’s actually the biggest privately held recreational vehicle manufacturer in the USA, with over 25 brands and more than 110 models in their extensive range.

I’m going to focus on one of their best-selling units, the Ameri-Lite. This is a great starter option for small to medium sized looking to buy their first travel trailer. The galley features all basic necessities plus some fun extras.  The flush mount fridge is decently sized with enough room to store at least a few days’ worth of fresh produce for a whole family. The 3 burner cooktop is well designed, and the addition of a microwave and a standard convection oven is always great to see. The power hood does a great job of sucking out any unwanted steam or smoke from cooking and the 6-gallon water heater ensures there’s always enough hot water on tap

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 23

The bathroom has an actual tub in it!  Sure, it’s not the biggest tube we have ever seen, but it’s just so rare to see this in a camper and can be a godsend for those with a young family. Of course, all the other usual suspects are also found here – toilet, sink, and a powerful shower.

The exterior shell is well put together and designed to last. The materials used are top-notch and should last years and years with the right care.  Check out all the options available from Gulfstream right here –  https://www.gulfstreamcoach.com/products/light-weight

Grand Design Travel Trailers 3410

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 24

Grand Design Recreational Vehicles are one of the newer kids on the block.  In 2012 the Grand Design team broke away from the leadership team of the largest travel trailer and fifth wheel manufacturer in the world to start their own venture.

This decision was made as they were finding it hard to stay in touch with customers, employees, and ultimately keep the quality of the final product to the very highest standard while being involved with such a large company.

Since opening their doors back in 2012 they have seen unparalleled years of growth, and have quickly become one of the most respected travel trailer manufacturers in North America.

Their best-selling travel trailer model right now is the 2022 Transcend XPLOR, and I was lucky enough to check out the 200MK model recently. To say I was impressed would be a slight understatement.

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 26

  • Price: Starting at $34,535
  • Length:  24 ft 11 in
  • Height : 11 ft
  • Weight Rating:  7495 lbs
  • Sleeping Capacity: Sleeps up to 8
  • Number Of Queen Size Beds: 1
  • Number Of Double Size Beds: 0
  • Number Of Convertible / Sofa Beds: 2
  • Fresh Water Tank Capacity: 62 Gallons
  • Gray Water Tank Capacity: 39 Gallons
  • Black Water Tank Capacity: 39 Gallons
  • BTU per hour furnace: 32000
  • Refrigerator Size: Mid-sized
  • RVInsider average reviews: 3.7

The well-priced Grand Design Transcend Xplor travel trailer 200MK is up there with my favorite campers and trailers currently on the market.  Sure, it may not have the classy exterior of some of its higher-priced competitors, but that’s not to say this is a bad-looking trailer whatsoever.

The exterior shell is designed with functionality in mind and uses state-of-the-art build concepts to ensure long-lasting quality. Steel alloy frame construction is paired with the aircraft-grade aluminum cladding for a great balance of strength while staying as lightweight as possible. Grand designs use QuadSeal on the vast majority of their travel trailers, which provides four protective layers to line the perimeter of your trailer for full protection from water the weather has in store.

Inside you find pretty much everything you could hope for from a travel trailer in this price range, plus a few great unexpected extras!  The galley offers a full 3 burner cooktop, convection oven, microwave oven, and a nicely sized 8 cu ft refrigerator. This setup makes cooking for a large family an absolute breeze.

In terms of cabin space, that really depends on which floor plan you decide on, with over a dozen options available. The 200MK can sleep up to 8 people, but that would be a bit of a squeeze. There’s a queen bed in the main bedroom, with a few pull-out bunks for the kids. The bathroom is well designed with a full walk-in shower, with a big sink and toilet. There are a bunch of overhead compartments dotted throughout the design and a 43 Cu. Ft. pass-through storage located underneath the cabin flooring.  Check out all the Grand Design Travel Trailer options right here –  https://www.granddesignrv.com/

Oliver Travel Trailers

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 29

Oliver travel trailers may not have the extensive range of other brands, and as they have been in business since 2008 they are one of the younger companies on today’s list.  With just 2 travel trailers to choose from you would be excused for thinking that this great little enterprise is not worth your time, but in my opinion, you would be 100% wrong.

Oliver travel trailers may have a starting price that is a little higher than some of the competition, but this price is more than justified when you take into account the build quality and features included.

Let’s take a look at the smaller of the two options, the Oliver Legacy Elite.

  • Price: Starting at $57,000
  • Length: 18 ft 5 in
  • Height : 6 ft 6 in
  • Weight Rating:  5,000 lbs.
  • Sleeping Capacity: Sleeps up to 3
  • Number Of Convertible / Sofa Beds:1
  • Fresh Water Tank Capacity: 32 Gallons
  • Gray Water Tank Capacity: 32 Gallons
  • Black Water Tank Capacity: 15 Gallons
  • BTU per hour furnace: 20000
  • Number Of Cooktop Burners: 2
  • Oven: Convection Microwave Oven
  • Refrigerator Size: 4.5-cubic-foot Norcold three-way refrigerator
  • Structure Warranty (Months): 60

As you can see from the above specs, this is one of the smaller travel trailers reviewed in this list. From what I can tell, there are 2 types of people that RV – those who prefer the “bigger is better” model and the rest who prescribe to the “cozy and small” philosophy. If you land in the second group then the Oliver Legacy Elite is hard to beat!

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 30

The aesthetics are the first obvious point that sets this travel trailer apart from the opposition.  The bubble, retro styling of the Legacy Elite makes this one of the best-looking options available right now and gives Oliver units a unique feel.

In terms of construction, the mostly aluminum frame is covered by a custom-molded fiberglass shell complete with matching propane and spare tire cover. Not only does this look great, but it offers a stronger shell than others that can handle all weather conditions, even below freezing. That’s thanks to the well-insulated double shell and the fact that all water lines, appliances, and tanks are located within the lower shell.

When discussing the interior features, there is really nothing glaring that Oliver have left out here. To see all the standard features head to this link  https://olivertraveltrailers.com/travel-trailers/legacy-elite/standard-features/ , but here’s a quick rundown.

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 33

There’s full surround over-head lighted storage compartments, an ez winterizing system, the Maxxfan deluxe remote control RV ventilator system, overhead led lights and led courtesy floor lights, a flush mount 2x lp burner stove , a Norcold 3 way refrigerator 4.7 cu. ft. that can run on lp or electricity, a stainless steel microwave, a domestic 311 toilet (low profile with porcelain bowl), decently sized shower, all the safety features we have come to expect, a 24” flat screen LCD tv.  The list really does go on and on! If you have some money to burn and are looking for a compact travel trailer that offers the best in build quality and overall features then it’s hard to beat the Oliver Legacy Elite! Bowlus Travel Trailers

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 34

And now for something a little, um… different?

Bowlus travel trailers are the brainchild of Hawley Bowlus and first started production in 1934. Hawley Bowlus was a renowned designer, aerospace engineer, and the head designer and builder of the Spirit of St. Louis aircraft (the custom-built monoplane that was famously flown by Charles Lindbergh in 1927, on the first solo nonstop transatlantic flight from Long Island, New York, to Paris, France).

Bowlus campers are known for their absolute high-end, luxury designs and timeless aesthetics.

Bowlus aims to lead the market and have accomplished many important industry firsts within the last decade. These include being the first travel trailers with heated floors and life-work solutions that include the first charging stations/router/wifi amplifier for remote work solutions, the first lithium-powered travel trailer with sophisticated power management systems, and the first truly sustainable RV.

But this does not come cheap! Bowlus campers are some of the most expensive options out there, so let’s take a look at exactly why they cost as much as they do! I was invited to take a look at the Bowlus Terra Firma, their flagship model.  This is, without a shadow of a doubt, the most beautiful and outwardly impressive travel trailer I have ever stepped inside of!

  • Price: Starting at $265,000
  • Length:  27 ft 1 in
  • Height: 8 ft 6 in
  • Weight Rating:  4000 lbs
  • Bathroom: Full bathroom with shower (extends outside), toilet, and sink.
  • Sleeping Capacity: Sleeps up to 4
  • Fresh Water Tank Capacity: 19 Gallons
  • Gray Water Tank Capacity: 21 Gallons
  • Black Water Tank Capacity: 4.5 Gallons
  • Propane Unit: 2 x 17 lbs
  • Number Of Cook Top Burners: 2
  • RVInsider average reviews: 0 reviews

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 35

Let’s just say it, the Bowlus Terra Firma is not for everyone. I love the thing and it’s not for me, and that’s not just to do with the price  (which, come on, is totally ridiculous. Over $100,000 more expensive than the closest competing model from Airstream. You can even get a Lambo or Ferrari for less than the asking price of this camper!).

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 36

But, if this is the type of thing you are into and you have the money to burn, it does have a whole load of attractive features and design concepts.  Each and every Bowlus is handcrafted with the company taking input from the new owners to make sure they get the travel trailer perfectly tailored to their wants and needs .

The one feature that Bowlus can truly claim as their own is the lithium-iron batteries that provide 8.0-kWh of power. That’s enough juice to keep the water flowing and LED lights on for weeks, but if you are using the climate controls and running workstations then that time period will shrink to about 4 days. Still super impressive.

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 37

I’m not going to say much about the interior and exterior design and build quality. As you would expect from a unit of this price, every facet is the unreserved, undivided, outright pure definition of top-notch brilliance.

But, should you buy a Bowlus Terra Firma?  Well, that is an answer that no one can answer other than you. But my honest opinion is that even though they are packed with outstanding features and almost perfect styling, they are just too overpriced to warrant a purchase.

Lance Travel Trailers

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 38

Lance Campers have been supplying America (and the world) with some of the best travel trailers since 1965.  They have slowly but surely built a strong reputation for designing and constructing some of the longest-lasting units on the market, and  a quick google search will find endless glowing reviews about the whole range of campers offered.

In the last decade, Lance campers have won an amazing 8 quality circle awards from the DSI Award (Dealer Satisfaction Index), and just last year Consumers Digest awarded the entire Lance travel trailer line their highest ranking possible.

My local Lance dealer recently invited me around to check out the range. There is a travel trailer to suit any family requirement, each as impressive as the last. But, the pick of the bunch in my mind is the fantastic Lance 2445 travel trailer. Of course, they have many cheaper options available (Lance is actually one of the companies with the most attractive overall pricing), but if you are looking for a large camper trailer then check out this one!

  • Price: Starting at $79,765
  • Height: 10 ft 4 in
  • Weight Rating:  7600 lbs
  • Number Of Double Size Beds: 1
  • Fresh Water Tank Capacity: 45 Gallons
  • Gray Water Tank Capacity: 2×45 Gallons
  • Black Water Tank Capacity: 45 Gallons
  • BTU per hour furnace: 35000
  • Propane Unit: 2 x 10 lbs
  • Number Of Cook Top Burners: 3
  • Structure Warranty (Months): 24
  • RVInsider average reviews: 3.9

This oversized travel trailer is perfect for larger families, with enough room to sleep 4 adults and 4 children comfortably.  The master suite features a walk-in- closet and full queen size pillow top innerspring mattress which is positioned to view the surroundings through the “StarGazer” dual-pane radius front window.

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 39

The bathroom is outfitted to perfection, with every fitting you would expect from a hotel powder room and more! The shower is as big as I have seen in almost any camper, and there’s ducted heat, a medicine cabinet with a generously sized mirror, and a full-sized toilet and sink combo to round it all out.

The galley comes with everything you need to cater for a large family, with a flush mount 3 burner oven top, a convection oven, a microwave, a 7 cu. Ft. double door fridge, and an oversized sink.

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 42

The overall build quality is a factor that Lance Campers have always received praise for and it’s no different here!  Everything just seems so well put together, especially as Lance targets the lower price range. There’s the laminated fiberglass bonded exterior with azdel substrate, exterior LCD mounting puck which includes a removable LCD bracket, aluminum wheels with Goodyear radial tires and the radius cornered storage compartment doors to name just a few of the standout features.

So, if you have been hunting for a travel trailer that offers unrivaled value for money you can do a lot worse than a Lance Camper! Check out the entire range right here –  https://www.lancecamper.com/travel-trailers/

Forest River Travel Trailers

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 43

Forest River has been around the traps since 1996 and with the recent introduction of the phenomenal No Boundaries travel trailer they have upped their game once again.

The company has manufacturing facilities throughout the Midwest and west coast, allowing for orders to be filled quickly without the quality of workmanship dipping at all. Each and every Forest River product is painstakingly built and undergoes deep, detailed inspection before being handed over to the customer. This pre-delivery inspection covers everything from electrical, plumbing, LP system, function, aesthetics, codes, rain bay, and other various tests.

One thing that really stands out is the Forest River Owners’ Group (FROG), which was formed in 2011 and has grown exponentially ever since. It now boasts over 150,000 members, and has a thriving forum for any and all discussion regarding Forest River products.

Let’s dive headfirst into the all-new Forest River No Boundaries and see what the fuss is about.  I was able to get my hands on an NB19.6 floor plan, but there are more than 12 other options to choose from depending on your needs and budget.

  • Price: Starting at $32,000
  • Length:  24.33 ft
  • Height:9.92 ft
  • Weight Rating:  3,206 lbs
  • Number Of Double Size Beds:
  • Gray Water Tank Capacity: 30 Gallons
  • Black Water Tank Capacity: 30 Gallons
  • Oven: Microwave Convection Oven

The No Boundaries is a unit that really does live up to its name. Packed to the brim with impressive features, priced to please, and top-class build quality that is lightweight and durable  – what else could you want or need from a travel trailer?

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 44

The standard features that come with every No Boundaries include more than a handful of components that you might not expect to find in a travel trailer for this price. There’s enough storage room for a family of four, plus space for kayaks , bikes, surfboards, and fishing equipment. It seems like everywhere you look there’s more storage room!

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 45

Then we have the roof-mounted solar panel, the complete LED lighting, the included bush (or outdoor) kitchen that has a great-sized flat-top grill, the inbuilt winterization package, plus much more!

The Best Travel Trailer Brands On the Market in 2022 (With Pictures, Floor Plan and Prices) 46

The kitchen employs the use of a 2 burner oven top, a convection microwave oven, and a full-sized fridge and sink combo. The fridge could be a little larger I guess, but it’s hard to knock them for such a small oversight.

This is the perfect Travel Trailer for those wanting a lightweight, capable, and long-lasting camper. It handles off-road situations surprisingly well,  thanks to the 4,400-pound torsion-axle independent suspension. I wouldn’t take it down a difficult 4WD path, but it is capable of handling a bit of rough treatment.

So, if its a rugged and ready travel trailer that you are dreaming of, then take a long hard look at the impressive Forest River No Boundaries Travel Trailer right now –  https://forestriverinc.com/rvs/travel-trailers/no-boundaries/NB19.6/4763

Well, there you have it. My comprehensive rundown of all the top camper trailer brands, and the best units each produces. Hopefully, by this point, you have a much clearer understanding of not only what is on the market right now, but also exactly what you are looking for in a travel trailer!

If you want to know my picks of the bunch then it is hard to pass up the Lance Camper range.  They offer a unique blend of value for money and great build quality, all backed by a pretty decent warranty.

Of course, if you have the spare cash laying around then check out all the units that Airstream has to offer.

Happy Camping!

Class C Motorhome Manufacturers

The C lass C motorhome is your standard mid-sized camper. They’re bigger than Class B camper vans but are smaller than Class A motorhomes.

Most class C campers come with a bathroom and kitchen and are the perfect fit for someone looking to get a large motorhome that reminds you of a Class A without paying the price. Class C motorhomes have a very long history of providing well-designed floor plans and bed layouts for amazing quality and luxury camping.

Overall, Class C motorhomes are perfect recreational vehicles and are a great fit for anyone looking to upgrade their current camping vehicle for a quality RV!

Average Size Range: 20-30 feet

Average Weight Range: 10,000-13,000 pounds

  • Newmar Corporation
  • Tiffin Motorhomes

Travel Trailer Manufacturers

When it comes to having the largest variety of campers, look no further than a travel trailer ! These trailers range from 10-40 feet which is the largest size range of any of the campers we have talked about today.

If you opt for a smaller travel trailer , it can be pulled by smaller SUVs and cars (which is something that attracts a lot of attention from first-time camper buyers). Having the ability to hook up to and haul something with a car/SUV and not needing to also purchase a truck is an added benefit of these travel trailers! Most small travel trailers don’t come with slide-outs, though!

However, the larger the travel trailer, the more amenities you’ll have (especially if you pick from new models). The more weight you have in the camper, the more you’ll need a truck to pull it.

Travel trailers are some of the highest demanded campers within the camping industry and why they are the perfect recreational vehicles. If this rig is on your list, check out our guide on the best Travel Trailer insurance quotes !

5th Wheel Manufacturers

Fifth-wheel trailers are the largest trailers you can tow behind a vehicle. They’re called fifth wheels because the front of the trailer extends over the rear of the truck (however, they’re not quite small enough to be considered truck campers).

The truck bed contains a hitch mechanism to connect the trailer to the truck which can make fifth wheels easier to tow due to the location of the hitch. Fifth wheels offer the size and space of a Class A RV but they also require a heavy-duty pickup truck to pull the camper with (they’re not exactly lightweight travel trailers).

This type of RV is best for someone who wants all the amenities (such as bunk beds and slide-outs) and value of a large Class A, but also wants to be able to tow it and store it when not in use.

Overall fifth wheels trailers can be the perfect fit for any beginner or experienced camper looking for a large motorhome that is also towable.

Average Size Range: 22-40 feet

Average Weight Range: 7,000-20,000 pounds

Manufacturers Who Sell Fifth Wheel Trailers:

Here are a few common questions we’re asked about RV manufacturers:

It is hard to put an exact number to this question due to the constantly expanding RV Market. As of 2022, there are currently 114 Manufacturers in the United States. Many of these manufacturers are based out of Indiana, too ( a pretty cool fun fact to know!).

Each manufacturer produces thousands of RVs every year of all different styles and classes, which is why there are so many to choose from (this is perfect for those who have the specific length or weight requirements).

It’s important to take your time when looking for the perfect fit RV for you and your family, so make sure you take a look at the many options within the RV world!

Forest River RV

The largest RV manufacturer in the united states heading into 2022 is Forest River Inc. The company has an estimated $2.41 Billion Dollars in yearly revenue which is the largest of all RV manufacturers.

Forest River got its start on January 26, 1996, based out of Indiana. On June 28, 2005, the company reached a deal with Berkshire Hathaway for the purchase of the company. The transaction was officially finalized on August 31, 2005, and ever since then Forest River Inc. continued to grow and eventually became one of the largest RV manufacturers in the United States!

Jayco Logo

When asked, most people refer to Jayco as the best RV manufacturer brand. They’re consistent, provide high-quality RVs, and have an excellent customer support team. Founded in 1968, Jayco is currently one of the largest manufacturers in the United States. Jayco’s main factory and headquarters are located in Middlebury, Indiana but there are tons of locations around the USA.

Overall, whichever RV manufacturer you choose you’re sure to get a high-quality motorhome.

This might seem like a silly post, but here are some little things about how recreational vehicles might be named or what the little designations might be in their model numbers. Understanding RV model names (or rv model numbers) makes RV shopping much much easier. It will also help you to get a bogey on price without actually talking with anyone – just for quick mental notes of course.

I don’t think this is a hard and fast set of rules, but this should get you close.

Add your RV Model Naming Convention in the Comments

Text tags in the RV Model Names

  • Usually a long slide that runs the length of the main living area in an RV

travel trailer model names

  • Usually a towable trailer with the kitchen in the front most part next to the hitch.
  • Does not make sense to have a motorized RV with front kitchen. Too hard to steer and drive while cooking pancakes.
  • Unlike front kitchen, I don’t see why you couldn’t have an RK on a motorized. But I don’t see this as a common designation.
  • A recent innovation (maybe 2005 or so) whereby a small kitchen area, accessible to the outside, similar to a slide-out or a big door opening can be used outside of the RV.
  • Usually these outside kitchens have a couple burners, a grill, a refrigerator, and a drawer or two.
  • Gets the RV closer to the camping ideal without making a big project. Also in the summer keeps the heat outside and the food smells outside.
  • I see this “OK” designation used in conjunction with other designations.
  • You’ll see this on both towable and motorized RVs.
  • This is the designation that the area where you relax and spend time is in the rear of the RV. A large window might be characteristic and a TV/recliner area is part and parcel.
  • This is the designation that the area where you relax and spend time is in the FRONT of the RV. A TV/recliner area is part and parcel.
  • Does not mix well with the drivers seat so a towable focused designation.
  • Sheri and I first saw this on a Keystone RV some years ago and the visual appeal of this floor plan was very good. It had instant “wow” factor. We could not speak to its practicality.
  • This is a designation for the master bathroom being placed in the very most front of the the RV.
  • Not a common feature.
  • I think this would be an RV that would be nearly 100% for full time use with a single person or couple that doesn’t have many/any visitors. Or you’d be committed to a 2nd bathroom.
  • Honestly, putting the “Q” in the name is a bit silly. Most RVs have queen beds if they are bigger than, say 16 feet long.
  • Honestly, putting the “K” in the name is a bit silly where it doesn’t designate something meaningful.
  • I can’t even dignify this with a reasonable search for examples. Sorry.
  • Similar to rear living. It might have more to do with how they market the unit. I could never see a realistic difference. Indoor solitary people might be drawn to Rear Living as a term and gregarious people might be drawn to Rear Entertainment as an idea. The term might just be a psychology thing.
  • See Front Living.
  • See Rear Living
  • Unlike convertible spaces – like kitchen tables turning into beds – bunk houses are permanent sleeping quarters for guests.
  • They look surprisingly similar to the small spaces that the sailors get when on ships. I wasn’t navy so I’m just giving my impression.
  • See Bunk House BH.
  • See Queen up above.
  • O = Outdoor
  • B = Bath, Bed, Bunk
  • E = Entertainment
  • Q = Queen, sometimes Quad

Once you know this code, then you can start to figure out the other variants manufacturers use. There is no standard, but maybe this can get you closer quicker to an idea.

What do the NUMBERS mean in an RV model number

The numbers in the model number seem to come in two varieties – One number that is more like square footage and one that is simply the length of the unit. Typically, you can tell them apart because square footage has an extra digit.

Possible number meanings in RV Model Names

  • 392 = 392 square feet. I think it counts the slides extended.
  • 292 = 292 square feet.
  • 29 = 29 feet (29 * 8) = the real square footage.

Now that you know the numbers and the letters, you can very quickly understand an RV and have a pretty good idea of what is in store for you.

Truth in model numbers, length and square footage

Don’t expect precision. Just use as a rough guide. Sometimes the numbers are simple rate and ranking numbers that RV manufacturers provided to simply “sort” their RV models. This might only VERY roughly correspond to length. Just take it with a grain of salt.

Same with square footage.

Examples of different RV model name & numbers and what they translate to as near as I can tell:

  • Puma 19-RL — 19 foot rear living travel trailer
  • Puma 23-RBFQ — 23 foot Rear Bunk (or bath) Front Queen. This one actually is 28 feet long so the 23 doesn’t make much sense, but I think you could also think of it as a way to “sort” the product line from smallest to biggest with length as an approximation. In other words – don’t get too hung up on it.
  • Puma 28-RBSS — 28 foot (approx) rear bath super slide.
  • Puma 31-RDKS — 31 foot (actually 34) rear dining kitchen slide.
  • Keystone 288RLS — 288 sq ft (appxo 32feet x 8 feet wide) rear living slide
  • Keystone 330RBK — 330 sq ft rear bunk (outside) kitchen.
  • Dutchmen 16QBS — 16 foot Queen Bed. The S is LIKELY for Single Axle. Sometimes you have to guess. This is the model number of our Tiny Texas Tumbleweed .
  • Puma 29-FKSS — 29 foot Front Kitchen Super Slide. This was our first RV .
  • Open Range 399BHS — 399 sq  ft Bunk House – S is either the ending for Bunkhouse(s) or (S)lide. This was our 2nd RV.
  • Sabre 34 TBOK — My take would be Twin Bunk Outside Kitchen

Of course these are my guesses – they  don’t really tell me, but I think I’m pretty close overall. Now that you have at least a partial decoder ring, the RV model name can mean a little be more and be more useful to you. It isn’t a perfect scheme, but I think you’ll find it handy.

Nice find Angie. This, I believe, refers to the Keystone Hideout product lines. I looked that page over and found a few things that map into my definitions above. I did find “TS” for triple slide, “DS” for dual/double slide. The 2 digit numbers roughly correspond to length. But I must admit KBS WE has me a bit perplexed. The “S” certainly isn’t Slide. I thought the “K” might refer to the outside kitchen, but other versions have outside kitchens but don’t have a “K”. On one hand, many of these are very short wheel base single axle and use the nomer “LHS” which might mean Light Hard Side (a guess).

I do believe the “WE” must have a specific meaning due to the way they seem to use it in a targeted fashion. I’ve noticed that Keystone has a “WE” on the units marked with region “WEST” in their specs. So I think I decoded that one.

I’m going to go with K = outdoor Kitchen, B = Bunkhouse, and S = Slide even though they don’t use these consistently.

Anyone else want to get in on the speculation fun?

What does 26DDSS mean? It is a 2013 Forest River Salem.

October 30, 2019 at 8:35 am

SS usually maps to a bigger slide – I would say Super Slide. I think my best guess at DD would have to do with the Dual Double beds.

I don’t think there is a hard and fast rule.

Keystone hideout 22kbswe . The trailer is 27.5 ft bumper to bumper. It has out door kitchen. Queen front bed. slide at kitchen. rear bath. So what does my numbers and letters stand for?

May 24, 2021 at 9:46 pm

Angie – I got nothing on this one. The BEST I can come up with is a clockwise rotation like this K(itchen)B(ath)S(lide)W(ith)Entertainment , but somehow it might be one of those model numbers where they are mostly “just a model number”. While your RV is 27 feet long, I do think the 22 is at least notional to the size of the RV.

Good one though.

What do all of these RV model numbers and letters mean? The numbers certainly don’t seem to have anything to do with the length of the RV or travel trailer. And the letters are a complete mystery. So we decided to come up with our Ultimate Guide to Understanding RV Model Numbers and Letters to make your RV search a little easier.

If you’ve chosen the best RV floorplan for you and your family, you can use RV model numbers to look up the ones you want. These cheat codes will help you cut through the monotony of looking through all irrelevant RV floorplans and target those you actually want to see.

So, join us as we help you decipher RV model abbreviation meanings and where to find your RV model number. And we show you some great examples of what RV model letters and numbers mean on pop-up campers, travel trailers, 5th wheels, and Class A, B, and C motorhomes.

What Do RV Model Numbers Mean?

When you go to an RV manufacturer’s website and choose a particular RV, you’ll see multiple floorplans. The goal is to appeal to as many potential RV customers as possible, so each design alters slideouts and adjusts features. Based on customer feedback and previous sales, the RV companies know that these floorplan models sell the best.

The RV abbreviation codes representing the models are usually references to particular specifications and features that stand out the most to keep track of them. The codes start with numbers and end with letters. There is a universal code most RV brands adhere to, but some choose not to use it.

For example, Lance Camper uses a numbering system for identification purposes. Except for the 1062 and 1172, their truck campers are three-digits. Their travel trailers are four-digits starting with 1475.

RV Model Numbers VS. Actual Length

Before the Modern Era (2008- Present) , the numbers in the model RV codes stayed true to the universal understandings. If it was a two-digit number, that represented the length of the RV. Three-digits equate to the square footage of the coach.

In today’s era, Class A and B motorhomes generally use the two-digit length. Class C’s switch between the length and square footage depending on the RV manufacturer. Travel trailers and fifth wheels typically prefer the square-foot since there are so many variations in similar lengths.

Pop-ups, truck campers, and teardrops use the numbers as identifiers mostly. The subdivisions within these categories make the search easier. When you’re trying to find your favorite camper model number, look up its sub-category first to save some time.

What Are the Abbreviations for Travel Trailers?

Like the numbers, the model letters have meaning too. Most RV abbreviations are universal throughout the RV Industry. BH stands for a bunkhouse, and RB means rear bathroom. Sometimes you’ll find that an RV code stands for a particular feature in one brand and mean something different for another. For example, the letter “K” could mean King Bed for specific companies, but KZ RV uses it to signify the coach has an outdoor kitchen.

In the tables below, we’ve delineated the universally accepted symbols and some brand-specific abbreviations to help you determine the RV code definitions.

Bathroom Model Letters

Bedroom model abbreviations, kitchen model codes, living room model letter meanings.

When RV manufacturers use the symbol “E” for entertainment, they refer to a living room with an upgraded entertainment system. For example, the section may have an upgraded LED TV, built-in surround system, and other standard features better than the regular multimedia system in their other RVs.

Slideout Model Symbol Meanings

Super slideouts can refer to those that extend out further than standard versions or full wall slideouts on the off-door sidewall.

Other Symbols

States like California and others have different RV laws than eastern and mid-west states. To comply with these laws, RV manufacturers must make specific changes to their coaches for compliance reasons. In addition, some of these laws conflict with the east and mid-west laws so that the RV companies will have two different versions of the same RV and floorplan.

Dealer Stock Only refers to RV floorplans not open to the public. RV dealers can order them for their inventory. Before the backlog, Dealers would order these unique floorplans as crowd-drawing units. They would be the only ones in their area to have the particular floor plan. Today, RV manufacturers can make them but are trying to limit the number of models they offer to decrease backlogs.

The freedom series doesn’t give you the full trailer-like amenities like the luxury pop-up camper trim of the High Wall Series, but if you’re the outdoor activity type, this is the one you want to hook your bike or kayak on for your adventures.

On the door sidewall, the other floorplans give you the choice of either a long cabinet or a convertible gaucho sofa. This dealer stock-only model fits both a big cabinet and sofa bed to the left side of the door and a full wetback on the right. When you look at a Jayco RV code that ends with a “W,” that tells you the coach complies with the western states’ RV laws.

If you’re looking for a mid-length travel trailer under 6,000 pounds, Jayco with the RV walkway spacing in the bathroom, bedroom, and living room. Full-timers with a 350/3500 series pickup truck won’t have any problems towing the Reflection 367BHS. If you’ve had a chance to read our article on EV Trucks in our June edition of RV Camping Magazine , the Atlis XL electric truck will act as your tow vehicle and your off-grid generator when you’re boondocking between destinations.

This touring coach isn’t ready for RV expedition vehicle-level terrain, but you won’t have problems going off-road in muddy conditions or trekking through snow-packed trails.

Airstream’s interior toward’s the back of this Class B is very versatile. At first, you’ll see a bench on either side with a center aisle. On the walls and floor are track system strips to connect latches to secure gear. If you don’t need the floor latches, rubber coverings can save your feet from harm. If you want to stay close to each other, the benches reconfigure into a king bed.

5. Class C RV Coachmen Leprechaun Model Number 220XG

Class C RV meaning of model numbers and letters

  • Chassis: Ford E-350
  • Engine: Ford 7.3L Godzilla V8- 430 hp @ 475 lb./ft. torque

This 220 square foot has a unique cross-function garage (XG) feature mostly seen in Class B campervans. The rear residential queen-size murphy bed folds up, allowing for a massive amount of garage space.

For more versatility, the J-Lounge sofa y becomes a dinette with a dual pedestal table. For additional seating around the table, the J turns into a U with a pull-out 18-inch extension. Finally, to contain the mess, after your outdoor adventures, using the rear door into the garage leads to the bathroom, keeping the dirt away from the rest of the RV.

6. Class A Motorhome Newmar Canyon Star Model Number 3927

Class A RV meaning of model numbers and letters

  • Symbol Meaning: First two numbers are the length, second two are the floorplan ID
  • Length: 39.11 feet
  • Diesel Chassis: Freightliner MC Front-End Diesel (FRED)
  • Diesel Engine: Cummins B 6.7L Inline 6- 340 hp @ 700 lb./ft. Torque
  • Diesel GVWR: 30,000
  • Gas Chassis: Ford F-53
  • Gas Engine: Ford Godzilla 7.3L V8- 430 hp @ 475 lb./ft. torque
  • Gas GVWR: 26,000 pounds

The many different floorplan models of the Canyon Star made it the only Class A motorhome Newmar needed in its lineup. So if a customer liked a floorplan in the diesels but wanted a gasser, they could find it in the Canyon Star more than likely. The gasser even has floorplans the diesels don’t. So when Freightliner reintroduced a FRED chassis, Newmar said, “why not?” So now customers can have the diesel performance on the gas floorplans.

The 3927 is the only floorplan offered in the Canyon Star. The 39 represents the length of the motorhome, while the 27 is the model identifier. 7.10’ x 10’ garage is an excellent solution for your golf cart, ATV, or even a great work area to get your dog show competitor ready to win the blue ribbon. The front-end diesel is 4,000 pounds heavier but gives you an additional 2,500 pounds of gross axle weight allowance in the garage.

Where To Find Your RV Model Number

Now that you know how to read the RV codes to find the right model, you’ll want to know where to find them. At the left of the entry door, you’ll find the RV model number. You’ll also find it on the RV manufacturer’s website, dealer’s website, owner’s manual, and other places. If you’re not sure, it never hurts to ask. Unfortunately, some RV manufacturers who don’t play by the universal coding system make it very confusing.

Understanding RV Model Numbers and Letters

DSC_0116cc

You’ve officially decided you are going to invest in a new RV. When you start shopping for the right one, there are a few things to decide in order to narrow down the vast amount of options available. A great place to start is learning more about the different types of RVs, various brands and the floorplans they offer.

And one of the most burning questions you might have when you start shopping is, "what exactly do those numbers mean at the end of an RV name?"

The numbers and letters at the end of the RV is the model of that particular brand. It is almost like a secret code to let the shopper know the floorplan type, vehicle length or square footage and the camper's features.

It is important to note that not all manufacturers follow these “rules” one hundred percent, so always double check the floorplan and feature listings on the manufacturer's site. But having the basic knowledge of these abbreviations is helpful when you are shopping for a specific type of floorplan at RV shows or online. At shows you will find the model information on the price sheet, usually posted outside of the unit next to the door.

Some of the basic RV model vocabulary includes:

FK: Front Kitchen

  • Specific to towable trailers
  • Kitchen closest to the tow hitch

RK: Rear Kitchen

  • Usually towable
  • Kitchen found on opposite side of where the hitch is located

OK: Outside Kitchen

  • A small kitchen area accessible on the outside of the camper.
  • Usually includes burners, grill, refrigerator, and small drawers for storage

Picture1-6

RL: Rear Living

  • This is an RV with the lounge or living area located in the back of the unit.

FL: Front Living

  • The lounge/living area is located at the front of the RV.

  RE: Rear Entertainment

  • Similar, if not the same, as rear living.

BH: Bunk House

  • Small bed area designed for children
  • Similar to a bunk bed

The living room of a 2020 Palomino Puma.

SLX, XLT, Xlite: Light Weight

  • A lightweight RV that is easier to transport

WS: With Slide

  • Unit includes a single slideout

S: Single Slide

  • Only one slide on this model of RV

SS: Super Slide

  • A long slide that runs the length of the main living area of an RV

DS: Dinette Slide

  • A slide that includes a dinette

The interior of the 2020 Rockwood Mini featuring a dinette

Q: Queen Somewhere

  • A queen bed is somewhere in the camper

K: King Somewhere

  • A king bed is somewhere in the camper

QB: Queen Bed

KB: King Bed

RB: Rear Bath

  • A bathroom in the rear of the RV

FB: Front Bath

  • A bathroom in the front of an RV

Now you may wonder what the numbers in the model name mean. Most times they indicate the length of the RV. However, that number doesn’t include the hitch or tow vehicle, so it’s important to look up these details on the manufacturer’s site before settling on the right RV for you. Length will determine where you can camp, as some campgrounds have length restrictions, and factors into the towing ability of your vehicle.

Let’s break down some examples of floorplans models:

The Jayco Eagle has “RL” for rear living and “OK” for outside kitchen. These features are highlighted in the model number because they are frequently sought out.

2. Forest River RV Surveyor 33KRETS

The Forest River Surveyor has “K” for kitchen “RE” for rear entertainment and “TS” for Triple Slide. These features are present in the model information because they can help show the versatility and space of this RV.

3. Heartland North Trail 24BHS

This Heartland North Trail is a bunkhouse with a single slide. These are featured because it allows families know that this has the sleep capacity they’re looking for before even entering the camper.

4. Coachmen RV Sportscoach 404RB

This Coachmen Sportscoach has a rear bathroom. This feature is often highlighted because it tells the shopper that the bathroom and bedroom are in the back of the coach, which is a design element that many RVers look for.

Now that you know  the model numbers and letters, it  can save you time and energy at RV shows and online, so you can avoid looking at RVs that are not going to meet your needs or lifestyle. Though remember not all manufacturers necessarily follow these rules, so it is always good practice to check out the manufacturer sites to get additional helpful information on the RV you are interested in.

Ultimate Model Guide: Travel Trailer Camper

This is a brief introduction to the Travel Trailer type of RV, intended to provide essential information for choosing the best RV type. (Looking for Travel Trailer Manufacturers ?)

Not sure if this is the right RV type for you? Please take a look at our RV Types Pros & Cons Checklist .

What Is a Travel Trailer RV?

travel trailer model names

Definition of a Travel Trailer

A travel trailer is a recreational vehicle (RV) built on a trailer chassis where the frame is coupled to the tow vehicle using a hitch coupler. It’s also commonly called a conventional trailer, camper trailer, bumper pull trailer, or tagalong trailer.

99% of travel trailers use a ball coupler to connect to the tow vehicle. Off-road models may use a pintle hitch or multi-axis articulating hitch.

Travel trailer chassis frames have tongues, usually of the A-frame design. The tongue extends past the camper body about four feet. This places about 10 to 15% of the trailer’s weight (called the tongue weight) on the hitch point.

Unlike motorhome RVs like Class B’s and Class C’s, you tow a travel trailer using a tow vehicle. You don’t drive one. And no, you don’t generally need a special license to tow one!

Travel Trailer RV Specifications

  • Lengths range from 12 to 41 feet, with 22 to 36 feet being the most common.
  • Width ranges from 6 ft 8 inches (narrow) to 8.5 ft (wide-body). Between 7 and 8 feet is most common.
  • Height varies from 9 to 13.5 feet, with most ranging between 10 and 12.5 feet (A/C included).

Please note this article does not consider separate “travel trailer” genres like teardrops, canned hams, micro campers, etc.

Driving an RV for the first time? Check out our guide to what you need to know about length, width, height, and weight!

Sleeping Capacity

Most Travel trailer RVs can fit 4-12 sleepers (6-8 standard). That doesn’t mean there’s room for 4-12 to sit down at once, though!

Travel Trailer Categories

Travel trailers boast the most diversity of any RV genre. You can purchase bunkhouse models, toy haulers, mega-sized teardrops, vintage dropfloor models, fiberglass models, etc. It’s difficult to break them down into separate categories.

Many of these sub-genres are written about separately. Please see our articles about teardrops, toy haulers, and fiberglass campers.

At their essence, travel trailers are boxes on wheels. They are supposed to make you feel at home. Walk inside, and you’ll see dinettes, bunk beds, TVs, kitchen counter tops – everything you just left at the house.

Travel trailers are also built using a dizzying amount of construction techniques. You can read more about sidewall construction techniques from AskTheRVengineer.com. You may see travel trailers distinguished by construction technique, aka a stick n’ tin versus a laminate fiberglass unit.

Travel trailers may also be distinguished by design package:

  • Ultralight : Usually built with weight-saving techniques such as aluminum framework, lightweight plywood, or composite panels.
  • 4-Season: Built with additional insulation and/or heating elements for 3-1/2 (rarely true 4-season) winter and cold weather camping.
  • Vintage: Inspired by classic campers from the ’50s and ’60s, vintage campers may be built under resurrected brand names such as Scotty or Shasta.

Travel Trailer RV Description

Travel trailers arrived hot on the heels of mass manufacturing. RVs were sold in America as early as 1910, just a few years after the debut of the historic Ford Model T.

And in one sense, they really haven’t changed since. Sure, the technology is leaps and bounds ahead, but the idea is the same: A travel trailer is essentially a second, smaller house. So you don’t have to “camp” to go camping.

Travel trailers come in all sizes, from 3,000 to 20,000 lbs! The smallest travel trailers are nothing more than a dinette, a kitchenette and a portable toilet, all squeeze into a space not much bigger than your walk-in closet. Others are almost 300 square feet, bigger than a Tiny House, and come with a free butler.

Competition is fierce in this industry. The lowest tier of travel trailers suffers from slap-dash quality and nickel-and-dime components. The highest tier of travel trailers, such as Airstream and Living Vehicle, cost more than your house (and they’re probably nicer).

Class A RV Chassis & Fuel Economy

These RVs typically look like big, narrow boxes with a rounded or sloped front end. They are built on chassis frames either fabricated in-house or sourced from major OEM manufacturers. Big names include:

More than any other RV type, travel trailers are likely to be built on chassis frames either designed and fabricated by the RV manufacturer or outsourced to a regional metal fabrication shop. So pay close attention!

But like most RVs, the RV manufacturer doesn’t usually build the appliances or major parts within the camper (Winnebago and Airstream are major exceptions). The manufacturer typically sources the major components and constructs their own floorplan and layout. So think of the RV manufacturer more as the final assembler.

Fuel economy of your tow vehicle is primarily affected by the frontal area and relative weight of the travel trailer. So a heavy, tall and wide travel trailer will have a greater impact on your gas mileage than a lightweight, short and narrow camper.

Typically, larger and more powerful vehicles, such as diesel three-quarter-ton trucks, see a much smaller decrease in fuel efficiency compared to gas-powered passenger vehicles.

Who Might Want a Travel Trailer?

Phrased another way: Who doesn’t want a travel trailer?

Travel trailers have a lot going for them.

  • They can be towed by many types of vehicles, from SUVs to trucks.
  • They can be used seasonally or full-time.
  • They can be purchased for $20,000, $100,000 or $500,000!
  • They can be stored over the winter.
  • They look and feel like a small house.
  • You don’t have to worry about damaging a $20,000 engine or drivetrain.

This is why more than one out of every three RV is a travel trailer!

However, they do have some compromises.

  • Unlike a motorhome, you can’t occupy a travel trailer while in transit.
  • They don’t offer as much floorspace or headroom as a 5th wheel.
  • Travel trailers typically have limited cargo carrying capacity (CCC).
  • They are the most difficult and squirrely to tow of any RV type.
  • Often, to tow a $50,000 conventional trailer, you need a $50,000 truck!

Travel Trailer RV Pros and Cons

  • Spacious, open floor plans suitable for a variety of uses, including snowbirding.
  • Provides more interior space per length foot than motor homes because it does not contain driving and engine compartments.
  • Tow vehicle doubles as local transportation.
  • Lower profile allows easier entry than a fifth wheel trailer.
  • Lower profile allows roof storage of items such as canoes, with less concern for top clearance.
  • Can be towed with a variety of vehicles fitted with a standard ball hitch and rated for the trailer weight.
  • Least stable on the road of all RV types. Requires the most skill to tow and back up.
  • Large trailers require large trucks.
  • Less storage than fifth wheel trailers because it lacks a raised section.
  • Driving and living compartments are separate. Living area inaccessible while moving.
  • Generally cannot tow vehicle behind trailer.
  • Larger models can be difficult to maneuver in tight spaces.
  • Larger models require large storage area when not in use.

Key Features in a Conventional Trailer

Layout is everything.

There’s a saying in the RV industry that goes something like this: “Colors and patterns sell campers.” I’d expand that to include layouts and floorplans.

Travel trailers are sold in a dizzying variety of floorplans. You can get multiple master bedrooms, multiple bathrooms, double bunk beds, murphy beds, 2-person or 4-person dinettes, U-shaped kitchens, single-wall kitchens, shower or a bathtub … the list goes on!

Many travel trailers have one or two slide-outs, like this Jayco Jayflight SLX 8 265RLS. Check out all that leg room! It can be used with the slide-outs deployed or within.

travel trailer model names

However, some are hard-sided and don’t have any slide-outs, which sacrifices space, but can help you avoid maintenance headaches. For an example, check out this Airstream International 25FB. While much smaller, does it really lose any critical features?

travel trailer model names

Here are some questions to help you choose a layout that will work best (and hopefully age with) your family’s needs.

  • What size of bed (twin, full, queen, short queen, king) do I need?
  • Am I going to sleep in the same bed as my partner, or will we need dual twin beds?
  • Can we scoot to the end of a bed, or do we need to roll off the side?
  • How much visual or acoustic privacy do we need? Will a curtain suffice, or a solid wall and a door?
  • Do we need a TV in our bedroom?
  • Do we need an adjacent master bath?
  • Do we need a full-size bed for kids or guests, or will a murphy, sofa or bunk bed do the trick?
  • Where will we eat breakfast, lunch and dinner? Do we need a breakfast nook in addition to the main living area?
  • Do we need a separate table for office space?
  • How many people need to be able to watch TV or eat a meal at once?

Where Will You Store Stuff?

  • Does the RV offer exterior pass-through storage?
  • Can you mount a roof rack on top of the RV?
  • Are there any hide-a-beds, futons or convertible dinettes?
  • Is there sufficient kitchen cabinet space?
  • What’s the weight rating on the bumper hitch?
  • Is there room to mount anything on the trailer tongue A-frame?

How Much Cargo Carrying Capacity?

It is not uncommon for travel trailers of any size, style or construction to offer less than 2,000 pounds of cargo carrying capacity! And some offer less than 1,000 pounds!

Don’t buy a travel trailer based on the floorplan. Pay attention to the GVWR and Cargo Carrying Capacity first. If the trailer doesn’t offer at least 2,000 pounds of CCC, carefully consider your decision. You want some space for your bikes, camping gear and firewood!

Travel Trailer Sub-Types

Travel trailers have so many sub-types and categories that they all blend together!

1. Conventional Trailer

While the categories below aren’t formal types, they help to separate the myriads of lookalike trailers at your dealership’s lot.

Ultralight/Single-Axle

Single-axle campers can usually only carry up to 5,200 lbs GAWR. These campers are usually sold as ultra-lightweight campers for people who are towing with a common passenger vehicle.

Our advice: Check the tongue weight! RV salesmen like to sell based off gross weight, but usually, it’s the tongue weight restriction that limits smaller vehicles.

“Off-road” travel trailers may have upgraded torsion axle or independent suspensions plus lift blocks.

Very few manufactures will officially designate their trailers as off-road models. Too much liability. So don’t assume that just because you have studded mud tires that the manufacturer planned on you running the local Jeep trails.

If the manufacturer does advertise 4×4 capabilities, ask what testing has been done to confirm the rating.

Don’t assume a “4-season” package really equips your camper for all seasons! The quality of a 4-season options package varies widely by manufacturer.

Ask if the camper can be used in sub-freezing temperatures without winterizing the water lines. Ask if the camper has been tested and used in sub-freezing conditions.

2. Destination Trailer

A destination trailer is a travel trailer (flat tow) optimized and designed for seasonal or year-long campground living. They are huge, heavy, boxy and extremely spacious – not something you want to be towing around every weekend! Most need to be towed with a one-ton or medium-duty truck.

Destination trailers are generally used by snowbirds who relocate with the seasons.

Here is a floorplan from the 2022 Crossroads Hampton HP388FKL destination trailer:

travel trailer model names

Think of a destination trailer as a cheaper version of a full-time 5th wheel. Since they are designed to be moved maybe once or twice a year, they don’t have the complicated auto-leveling systems and other features of a typical mobile travel trailer. The money saved from the chassis goes into the interior furnishings.

Some of the floorplans boast second-story lofts and half-wall living room slide-outs. They have residential accents like bay windows, electric fireplaces, center kitchen island, a washer and dryer, etc.

Destination trailers are commonly confused with Park Model RVs (PMRVs). Both are designed for full-time campground living.

However, park models aren’t self-contained; they don’t have built-in tanks for off-grid living. They are built to a different construction code: ANSI A119.5 Park Model Recreational Vehicle Standard.

Park model RVs may be wider than 102″ (8.5 feet) and can only be moved with a permit, usually by a professional service. Please read our guide to Park Model RVs for more information.

Travel Trailer FAQs

In fact, travel trailers are good for most types of camping.

With sufficient clearance, travel trailers can access out-of-the-way locations. Just remember to bring a spare tire when primitive camping!

And most have enough room for spare batteries or a generator.

Travel trailers are also good for basecamping, since you don’t need to tow a second vehicle. Just use your tow vehicle as a daily driver!

Where travel trailers fall short is urban camping. They are difficult (even impossible) to maneuver down city streets.

No. Generally, you cannot “triple-tow” with a travel trailer. Even states that allow triple-towing generally do not allow it with a camper trailer because of maximum motorcade length and weight restrictions.

However, you can just use your tow vehicle as your daily driver!

Most travel trailers must be towed with a half-ton pickup, large SUV, or flatbed truck or larger. Smaller units can be towed with passenger SUVs and CUVs. Most travel trailers top out at 10,000 GVWR and would tow best with a medium-duty truck.

R&D HITS THE ROAD

We are living the RV lifestyle right alongside you by hitting the road with Brinkley RV’s own Model Z. These adventures help us learn how we can improve our RVs based on our own camping experiences.

IN THEIR WORDS

What our customers are saying.

We discovered the Brinkley Z3100 at the Montreal RV show. It was an instant crush due to the quantity of materials used and the incomparable finish of the Brinkley. This is by far the best value for money in the industry. We are delighted with our acquisition.

Google Review

Just ordered the Brinkley 3100 Model Z. Couldn’t be more pleased with the coach design, finishes, and craftsmanship. The company is proud of the product and stands behind it should there be any concerns.

Facebook Review

I don’t know other executives at companies that RV… It shows in the quality and all the little things that we see, including the fit and finish on everything…

Watch our Video

I recently stopped by their facility. And I saw their new unit. It looks great, they’re hitting the details people are looking for.

If you haven’t heard of a Brinkley – I am certain you will very soon because they are getting ready to knock the socks off of every other RV company there is.

Read The Complete Testimonial (Facebook)

This rig (Model Z 3100) is sleek and sophisticated looking with exceptional craftsmanship, and it was a happy surprise that it was even better in person. I can’t say enough about the people at Brinkley, they’re fantastic on every level. It’s incredible to have the opportunity to meet the owners of a fantastic new company and all the people making it happen.

We don’t want to feel like we’re in a camper, and this (Model Z 3100) feels very residential, and that’s why I’m loving the Brinkley.

Spectacular unit/manufacturer, really raising the bar for others in the industry. Super excited to see what this brand does!

Every single experience with Brinkley has been phenomenal. The Z3100 is built with quality and durability from the floors to the cabinets and all the way to the roof. No small detail has been left out, and we love that the owners listen to the customer’s ideas. But – the best part is the people who are Brinkley.

The enthusiasm and excitement they all share in the Brinkley company itself validated that we made the right choice. We feel certain that the people representing Brinkley are a reflection of the owners which represents a quality company!

We’ve toured hundreds of RVs through the years, and this was the first that literally took our breath away. We can’t wait to take delivery and then get it out on the road!

This new company and rig (Z3100) exceeded our expectations and then some… so we decided to buy it from Walnut Ridge in Indiana. The videos (Josh and others) were great, but experiencing it in person was simply amazing.

Excellent design, build and customer commitment. Everything a luxury mid-profile coach should be. Many upgrades and special touches to make any trip more comfortable and relaxing.

I have worked on many RV’s and none have been as well built and well organized as the Brinkley Model Z. The electrical system is set up to be easy to customize for the individual owner’s needs. Access to wiring and wire routing is straightforward and neat. Well Done, Brinkley.

RECREATING THE RV EXPERIENCE FOR DEALERS AND CUSTOMERS

RV experience and reputation, along with youthful enthusiasm, have all come together to form Brinkley RV. We are recreating the manufacturing/workforce discipline, the supplier/team relationship, and the selling/support experience. We are relentlessly dedicated to our customers’ satisfaction.

WHY BRINKLEY?

Built on trust.

We are focused on the relentless pursuit of the ultimate customer experience. Our ownership team is comprised of some of the most experienced RV veterans; many of which have spent the past 20 years building the most successful brands and companies within the industry. With five equal partners, we have the unique ability to have an owner touching every part of our business, every day.

We hope you will put your full trust in us and join us on this journey as we recreate and revolutionize your camping experience!

INDUSTRY-LEADING DESIGN

Due to the industry’s noticeable shift in focus away from customer experience and product design, Brinkley RV owners saw a unique opportunity to recreate the RV experience for dealers and customers. We pay exceptional attention to detail, and our mission is to provide you with products and support that help create the memories you can cherish for a lifetime.

Every Brinkley RV is designed by an industry-leading expert who loses sleep over making your experience memorable.

Our promise to you is two-fold:

  • We listen to your feedback when developing floorplans; we implement new features and cutting-edge technologies to meet your needs.
  • We also pledge to live the lifestyle right alongside you and tweak the product based off our own camping experiences.

FOCUSED ON CUSTOMER CARE

As a privately held company, we have the competitive advantage to avoid “publicly held” distractions so we can focus on the details. This allows us to stay closely connected to our customers, our employees, and our products.

We embody an exceptional customer experience; it is ingrained in the fabric of who we are. We have enhanced quality inspections and audits throughout our production line and a robust pre-delivery inspection (PDI) process. This way we can ensure that your Brinkley RV is built right the first time and with the utmost quality.

But we are human, and sometimes mistakes happen. When challenges present themselves, Brinkley RV’s Customer Care Team will go above and beyond to ensure the necessary repairs are completed as efficiently as possible to get you back on the road.

FINEST DEALER FRIENDS IN NORTH AMERICA

Our dealers are an extension of Brinkley RV, and we believe we have partnered with the absolute best in North America! We pledge to make the dealer experience seamless from purchasing units, managing real-time inventory control, and shipment tracking to serviceability, priority service and enhanced product training.

We want our dealers free to focus on serving their customers and encouraging them to become Brinkley RV owners for life.

We believe we are on the brink of something BIG!

Comedian Bill Maher added his voice to the growing mountain of mockery leveled against President Biden after a disastrous debate performance this week.

Maher — who unlike most Democrats, appears to have taken the dismal night in stride — bemoaned the fact that Biden didn’t appear to show up to his own debate.

“I mean Trump told lie after lie after lie. He never would have gotten away with that if Joe Biden was there,” Maher said to laughter Friday during a monologue on his show “Real Time.” “You know Joe, he famously loves trains but apparently not of thought.”

Bill Maher in a suit expressing criticism of Joe Biden's debate performance on his HBO show 'Real Time with Bill Maher'

“I don’t want to say he s–t the bed, but his new Secret Service name is Amber Heard,’ Maher said, a reference to claims made by actor Johnny Depp that Heard, his then-wife defecated on their bed during an argument in 2016.

Maher has previously said Biden’s age was a major issue in the 2024 race and, along with immigration, could result in him losing to former President Trump.

Immediately after Thursday’s debate, Biden faced a chorus of calls from donors and pundits to drop out of the race and cede the nomination to another candidate.

U.S. President Joe Biden standing at a podium during the first 2024 presidential debate in Atlanta, Georgia

“The president appeared on Thursday night as the shadow of a great public servant,” wrote the liberal New York Times in an editorial calling on him to quit the race. “As it stands, the president is engaged in a reckless gamble. There are Democratic leaders better equipped to present clear, compelling and energetic alternatives to a second Trump presidency.”

Biden, for his part has vowed to stay in the race, and received public backing from former Presidents Obama and Clinton, moves which suggest party leaders would still back him.

First Lady Jill Biden is also reportedly committed to her husband seeking a second term.

Rivian announces plans to launch five new models

Three are labeled as being "affordable mass-market" cars.

travel trailer model names

Rivian will soon receive a $5 billion investment from the Volkswagen Group, and it already knows what it's going to do with the money. The company announced plans to launch five new or updated electric models in the coming years, including three so-called mass-market cars.

The announcement was included in a slideshow that Rivian put together for investors. It lumps the brand's models into four categories: Gen 1, Gen 2, MSP and Affordable Mass Market. We already know the Gen 1 cars: they're the R1T , the R1S , and the electric panel van that Amazon has been using to deliver parcels for the past couple of years. Gen 2 refers to the recently-updated variants of the R1T and the R1S as well as a mysterious third model shown as a silhouette under a sheet. Is the sheet hiding a refreshed version of the delivery van? It's certainly possible. We don't think the silhouette corresponds to the body style because the exact same shape appears in another column.

MSP stands for "midsize platform," which is the new architecture that will underpin the R2 , the R3, and the R3X . These three EVs were introduced earlier in 2024, though they're still a few years away from reaching production. The chart also suggests that Rivian will build a third model on the MSP architecture. Here again, we have no idea what we're looking at. Maybe a small truck positioned below the R1T?

Finally, the third column shows three cloaked vehicles that will presumably slot at the bottom of the Rivian range. No details are available, and the term "affordable" is highly relative (especially when we're talking about EVs), but keep in mind the upcoming R2 will start at roughly $45,000. That means the R3 will be cheaper than that, and the entry-level cars should cost even less.

We might need to wait a while to see them, however. R2 deliveries won't start until the first half of 2026; the R3 will come after, though no timing has been announced. The entry-level cars will presumably be the last to hit the road. Expect more details about Rivian's future range to emerge in the coming years.
