In 2024, the landscape of the tourism sector is undergoing profound changes, driven by evolving consumer preferences, technological advancements, and a growing emphasis on sustainable and experiential travel. In the midst of this transformation, travel trade shows serve as key platforms for industry professionals to keep abreast of these developments, adapt their strategies accordingly, and ensure that their offerings remain appealing to today’s discerning travelers. But why should tour and activity providers take time out of their already busy schedules to attend these events? Here are the top reasons:
- Networking opportunities : One of the most valuable aspects of travel trade shows is the unparalleled networking opportunities they provide. These events serve as a global stage, attracting industry leaders, decision-makers and innovators from every corner of the globe. As a tour or activity provider, you can make connections with potential partners, clients and influencers that can open new avenues for business expansion and increased visibility.
- Learn about the latest trends : In an industry as dynamic as tourism, staying on top of the latest trends is critical to survival. Travel shows offer a comprehensive overview of emerging technologies, evolving customer preferences and innovative market strategies through expert-led seminars, panel discussions and exhibition booths. These insights are invaluable for tour and activity providers looking to refine their offerings and align them with current market demands.
- Collaboration and partnership : Beyond the networking and learning opportunities, travel shows are fertile ground for fostering partnerships. These events often facilitate connections between complementary businesses, leading to joint ventures, cross-promotions and collaborative initiatives that can significantly increase business results. For example, a local tour operator might find a technology provider that can offer an innovative booking solution, or an international travel agency that can help it reach a wider audience.
Now that you know why attending travel trade shows is so important, let’s take a look at the top events taking place in 2024.

The Top World Tourism and Travel Exhibitions in 2024
- August 2, 2024
Do you want to know the most important World Tourism and Travel Exhibitions this year? Find out more in this post.
Even if we live in the age of social networks, where it seems that human relationships are now entirely managed via the Internet, we should never underestimate the importance of human relations, even when talking about the Blogging and Tourism industries.
But how can a Blogger get in touch, meet potential partners, and find new collaboration opportunities? Participating in one of the many Tourism and Travel Exhibitions.
Unfortunately, I understood this after spending a long time writing dozens and dozens of e-mails to various tourism bureaus and travel agencies, all of which went regularly unanswered. Eventually, after asking several other bloggers for some suggestions, they all gave me the same answer: It’s important to personally get to know other people working in the same industry or, in a word, networking.
After clarifying this aspect, the second question is: which Tourism and Travel Exhibitions is best to attend? If you check the site world-tourism-exhibitions.com , you will find a huge list of more or less important exhibitions. The answer to the question is: it depends. It depends on many things.
Attending all the exhibitions, even the most important ones, is impossible because they are held worldwide. As I see it, attending at least one or two is a good option.

How to get ready before attending Tourism and Travel Exhibitions?
I don’t think there is any need to specify that you need to be prepared before attending these events. Tourism Exhibitions are huge, and you’ll waste your time if you don’t have clear goals. Depending on your niche, whether it’s low-cost travel, luxury travel, Asia, or anything else, focus on your strengths.
Don’t waste your time contacting those who deal with luxury travel if your blog has to do with backpacking (this is one of the reasons why it’s always better to avoid creating sites with names linked to the low-cost travel unless you do a total rebranding, you can only collaborate with those who arrange low-cost trips!).
One of the first things you will be asked will be some numbers about your blog and social networks, including audience reach, audience interests, etc… Where do your readers come from? What’s the average age? Prepare all the info you’ll need before attending the fair. Try to be as professional as possible.
This is a good article that explains what people working in the industry are looking for. I recommend that you read it. Also, remember to be patient, smile, and be friendly. Don’t forget paper, a pen, and comfortable shoes. You’ll walk a lot!
Here are my tips on what to see in Singapore in 4 days.

From comic books to sculptures, from African empires to Norwegian folktales, there's no shortage of exhibitions to attend this summer.
Hoping to go to an exhibition this summer? You'll be spoilt for choice.
From big-hitters like the Venice Biennale to quirky, off-the-beaten track galleries, institutions across Europe are hosting some amazing events.
Whether you're into comic books or sculptures, African sci-fi or Norwegian folktales, there's no shortage of things to see.
So to help you plan ahead - here are some of the best exhibitions to put in your calendar this summer.
New European summer exhibitions
The venice biennale: the milk of dreams.
Where: Galleries across Venice
When: now until 27 November 2022
The Biennale has returned to Venice for the first time since 2019. Showcasing 1433 works from 213 different artists, this year’s exhibition focuses on 'the representation of bodies and their metamorphosis’, ‘the relationship between individuals and technologies,’ and ‘the connection between bodies and earth’.
In 'The Milk of Dreams' - the surrealist children’s book that lends the exhibition its name - characters constantly find their lives turned upside down by magic and imagination.
Donatello, The Renaissance
Where: Palazzo Strozzi Florence, Italy
When: now until 31 July 2022
Hosted in the majestic Palazzo Strozzi in Florence, this historic exhibition traces the life, work, and legacy of one of the most important Italian masters.
Donatello’s sublime sculptures and paintings will be exhibited alongside masterpieces by a who's-who of world-famous artists, including Brunelleschi, Masaccio, Andrea Mantegna, Giovanni Bellini, Raphael and Michelangelo.
Germany / 1920s / New Objectivity / August Sander
Where: Centre Pompidou, Paris, France
When: now until 5 September 2022
This massive exhibition offers a multidisciplinary panorama of 1920's German art, from painting to photography, design, architecture, and music. Comprised of nearly 900 works, it reveals the creative expression, hedonism, and philosophy of a chaotic period.
Many of the paintings in this exhibition were hated by the Nazis, who decried them as the "art of Cultural Bolshevism" - all the more reason to visit.
East of the Sun and West of the Moon
Where: National Museum, Oslo, Norway
When : now until 30 December 2022
Ominous trolls, beautiful maidens, gluttonous cats and the Askeladden (the Ash Lad) - this exhibition of 19th century Norwegian fairy tale drawings is populated with fantastical beings.
This is the opening exhibition of the brand new Nasjonalmuseet, a 54,299-square-metre institution that will be one of the largest art museums in Europe.
Yves Saint Laurent
Where: The Louvre, Paris, France
When: now until 19 September 2022
60 years ago, Yves Saint Laurent debuted his first fashion collection. In honour of this anniversary, a new exhibition will showcase a number of “exceptional garments” from his body of work. Expect light, gold, and elaborate decorations.
Pharoah of the Two Lands: the African Story of the Kings of Napata
Where: Louvre, Paris
When: now until 25 July 2022
An “African saga” that spotlights the ancient kingdom of Nubia. In 730 BC, the Nubian king Piankhy conquered Egypt, ruling over the vast kingdom for more than a century. This exhibition reveals the previously untold story of a powerful dynasty.
Teresa Lanceta: Weaving as an Open Source
Where: MACBA, Barcelona
When: to 11 September 2022
This exhibition showcases more than 50 years of Spanish artist Teresa Lanceta’s beautiful textile artwork. Expect a focus on women’s work from an innovative weaver who “assumes the unexpected” and embraces collaboration.
Where: CaixaForum Madrid
When: now until 28 August 2022
From the Avengers to Snoopy, from Tintin to Batman, some of the world’s most beloved characters come from comic strips. This comprehensive exhibition brings together more than 300 original works in this genre - including an excerpt from the 1896 “Yellow Kid” series, widely regarded as the first modern comic strip.
In the Black Fantastic
Where: Hayward Gallery, South Bank, London
When: now until 18 September 2022
This exhibition invites viewers to “imagine a fantastical future.” Myth, science fiction, spiritual traditions and the legacy of Afro-futurism are all “sampled, reimagined and recontextualised” through liberating and innovative art.

With the autumn coming and the new season starting, we couldn’t wait to see which exhibitions we will have the chance to visit in Europe soon, especially after previous year that was very difficult for museums that were also partially closed down across Europe due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, the new season is looking good, with the many exhibitions opening that were postponed due to the pandemic as well as the new ones scheduled and here we bring you a few which are definitely not to miss.
1. David Hockney, BOZAR, Brussels
8 october 2021 – 23 january 2022.
In this long-awaited exhibition you will have an opportunity to see more than eighty works by David Hockney that spans across his entire career, from paintings and drawings to print that are in the collection of the Tate Museum. But that’s not all as this is actually a double exhibition – shown in partnership with the Royal Academy of Arts The Arrival of Spring, Normandy, 2020 , this parallel exhibition shows the never ending need for experimentation of one most influential artists of our time, presenting the interesting and colorful iPod paintings that were created during the first lockdown.

Hear all about the tower's history and secrets on a guided tour.
The Best Tower of London Tours
© Historic Royal Palaces
Built as a fortress by William the Conqueror beginning in the 1070s, the UNESCO-listed Tower of London is one of the city's most iconic landmarks. Once a palace for monarchs, a formidable state prison and a place of execution – where three of Henry VIII's wives, including Anne Boleyn, met their end – this imposing castle conceals more than 1,000 years of history across its different towers. Visit to learn more about its gruesome tales, and to admire the Crown Jewels, where glittering state crowns and other precious treasures sit beside the world-famous Koh-i-Noor diamond.
If you're looking to explore this impressive site with the insider knowledge of a local, consider booking a tour. We've rounded up some of the top tours, all of which have at least 100 reviews and a minimum rating of 4 out of 5 stars across multiple websites.
Editor's Pick: City Wonders – Best of London: Tower of London, Thames River Ride & Changing of the Guards
U.S. News independently paid to send Laura French , an award-winning British travel writer currently based in London, on this tour to provide readers with an unbiased, first-hand perspective of what to expect. City Wonders – Best of London: Tower of London, Thames River Ride & Changing of the Guards was selected by our team as an Editor's Pick thanks to its popularity and favorable user reviews.
Price: Adults from $98; kids from $92 Duration: 4 hours
This half-day, early-morning walking tour is ideal if you want to combine the Tower of London with other key London attractions ; as a bonus, you get early access to the tower, meaning you'll enter before it officially opens to the public.
We met our guide by the tower at 8:15 a.m. and got plenty of interesting information on its history before being led through to watch the opening ceremony (available as an upgrade). A resident, red-and-navy-clad beefeater (the tower's ceremonial guards) welcomed us with entertaining anecdotes, before the chief yeoman warder and others marched through the grounds to officially open the tower. We then had around an hour to explore; it was enough time to admire the Crown Jewels and its diamond-topped crowns, royal robes and gold chalices – as well as some of the other towers, several of which were still (happily) empty pre-10 a.m.
After exploring the tower, we boarded a Thames Clipper boat from the pier around the corner, passing several London landmarks – from London Bridge to The Shard, St. Paul's Cathedral to the "walkie-talkie" skyscraper (the Fenchurch Building). From Embankment Pier, we wandered through Whitehall to Horse Guards Parade, witnessing the Changing of The King's Life Guard; crowds gathered as mounted soldiers in red and gold lined the square. After a stroll along The Mall, the tour ended at Buckingham Palace . We took in the lavish grounds from the outside and found the perfect photo spot as our guide continued to regale us with more insightful tales.
Laura French
Good to know:
- On Sundays and Mondays, a Royal Westminster Walk is offered instead of the changing of the guard.
- Prices vary by date, so play around with different options if you're flexible on when you can go.
Why we love it:
- Getting early access to the Tower of London makes a difference – I've been to the tower twice before, but this was the best experience yet. There was no line for the Crown Jewels (waiting times can get long later in the day), and the whole area felt relatively calm and uncrowded.
- It's a flexible tour, with the option to add on the opening ceremony when you book. Though it does cost extra, I recommend it if you want to experience one of London's many traditions. We learned about the history of the beefeaters and the daily Ceremony of the Keys, and were kept thoroughly entertained by the yeoman warder who greeted us.
- Our guide was humorous, entertaining and brought the tour to life, sharing facts and stories about London's past and present that I (even as a local) didn't always know about – from historic facts at the Tower of London to a garage in Whitehall that was used as the Ministry of Magic in the "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1" movie.
- The tour was a good length and the group wasn't too big (we had 19 in our group), so it felt like we saw and learned a lot without being overwhelmed.

On the Van Gogh trail in Arles where the secrets (and lies) of the artist’s world are revealed
As a major new van gogh exhibition opens at london’s national gallery, michael hodges takes a train to arles to retrace the famous painter’s steps and discovers a twisty tale where fact merges into fiction and brings a surprising portrait of the artist to life, article bookmarked.

I n February 1888, it took Vincent van Gogh 18 hours to reach Arles from Paris by train. Once there, he found a room at the Hotel Carrel just inside the city’s medieval walls and began to paint. The swirling incandescent works that he created over the following two years, ageless paintings like Sunflowers and The Starry Night, have come to define the very idea of art, but Van Gogh met a nemesis of sorts in Provence. After his hopes of forming an artist’s colony with Paul Gauguin were dashed the Dutch artist mutilated his own ear, ended up in the city’s hospital and then, turbulent genius overwhelmed by mental illness, the asylum at nearby St Remy. Or so the legend goes.
Do such extreme events leave traces, is it still possible to get a sense of the troubled artist and his work in Provence? As the National Gallery’s unmissable overview of his time in Arles, Van Gogh: Poets and Lovers , opens, it feels like a question worth answering. Happily, it’s now only five hours by train from Paris to the city on the banks of the Rhône, an easy pilgrimage to such a culturally portentous place.
Arles has burst out of its medieval walls since Van Gogh’s time and the Hotel Carrel is an empty space on Rue Amédée Pichot, destroyed on 25 June 1944 by US bombers seeking the railway bridge over the Rhône. But I walk along the same tree-lined avenue through the Roman necropolis shown in The Alyscamps, where Van Gogh and Gauguin worked together, and the city’s alleyways are still a warren of dun-coloured walls, pantile roofs and shuttered windows. It is down one such alleyway that I find the Fondation Vincent van Gogh Arles, a glass and concrete cube interjected into the ancient architecture, which will host the Musée d’Orsay’s Starry Night Over the Rhône from 1 June to 8 September, before it comes to London in the autumn.
The quayside where that famous work was painted is only a short walk away along the river. Looking over the Rhône, I’m paces away from the sites of some of his greatest masterpieces; the Café de la Gare, immortalised as The Night Café and what was briefly Van Gogh’s home on Place Lamartine, captured in The Yellow House with a coal-black locomotive steaming by in the background.
It was here that Van Gogh prepared a guest room for Gauguin by hanging what is now the National Gallery’s Sunflowers above the bed. Sadly, the 25 June air raid, which also took the Café de la Gare, destroyed the Yellow House. The site is now the drinks terrace of La Civette Arlesienne – three beers on tap, no obvious artists in residence – but the railway bridge survives, graffitied yet pregnant with the possibility of Van Gogh’s train puffing back at any moment.
Behind me, and in front of the city gates, is the scene of Van Gogh’s Entrance to the Park in Arles . The park is now a roundabout and the council mistakenly places the sign indicating the site of the picture 10 minutes away in the Jardin d’Été, a wooded park alongside the Roman theatre. In fact, during this trip I encounter a lot of this mislabelling and obscuration.
In the Place du Forum, a café makes an initially convincing claim to be the one in Café Terrace at Night, but a local tells me it’s a fake version created in 2000 by three local businessmen since prosecuted for tax offences. Rather than disappointing, this feels appropriate. After all, under Gauguin’s influence, Van Gogh happily indulged his own artistic licence – the Plough constellation that hangs over the river in Starry Night Over the Rhône would have been behind him in the night sky.
Much of his legend of being a miserable loner is overplayed. In truth, Van Gogh welcomed company and often painted his Arles friends. He took the dashing army officer Paul-Eugene Milliet (subject of the fabulous portrait The Lover) across the fields to the abbey of Montmajour, a ruined medieval hulk of crusader castle proportions. Today, it’s 26 minutes by bus from Avenue George Clemenceau and, on alighting, I find a place where I know Van Gogh was happy, as he wrote to his brother, Theo, about the pleasure of stealing figs at Montmajour.
There is misery if you want to seek it out. The morning after he cut his ear Van Gogh was treated in Arles hospital, which survives as the Espace Van Gogh. Pause and consider him as you go through the gateway, he would have entered in pain and trepidation. Yet even here Van Gogh painted, and the courtyard has been planted to give an indication of what he would have seen as he worked on Garden of the Hospital in Arles .
From Arles, Van Gogh travelled the 25 kilometres to St Remy by cart in May 1889. The 704 bus does it in 45 minutes, as we get closer the twisted forms of the Alpilles mountains come into view, so recognisable from works like Olive trees with the Alpilles in the Background . I fill up on Provencal nosh at the Bar Tabac, then walk up the Avenue Vincent Van Gogh opposite. This hill is the artist’s Via Dolorosa, stations of the cross marked out on the way with reproductions of his extraordinary fever-dream landscapes.
At the top, his Calvary – the Saint-Paule-de-Mausole asylum where he suffered so much and which is partly open to the public. Here the obscuration continues: “Van Gogh’s bedroom” is in the wrong wing and the window from which I’m told he painted the Alpilles is the wrong window. But it doesn’t matter, this was Van Gogh’s world and there are glimpses of him in it still.
Van Gogh: Poets and Lovers at The National Gallery is now open and runs until 19 January 2025
