DUBAI TOURIST VISA EXTENSION PROCESS

Visit visa extension in Dubai has become easier with the UAE government’s introduction of online channels and portals. These service channels allow you to conveniently manage entry permits, their validity, extension, and cancellation processes. Let’s first take a look at the visa extension process.

ELIGIBILITY

Before applying for a Dubai visa extension, you must check whether you fit the eligibility criteria. To apply for an extension, you must be a citizen of an eligible country and hold a valid passport with at least 6 months expiry date.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR VISA RENEWAL IN DUBAI

You will need the following documents to renew your tourist visa in Dubai.

• A transcript of the applicant’s passport. Ensure the passport has a minimum validity of six months.
• A passport-size photo with a white background.
• Valid health insurance.
• A ticket to and from your country.
• Proof of a hotel/place of residence.

VISA RENEWAL/EXTENSION SERVICE CHANNELS

There are multiple ways to apply for a visit visa extension in Dubai. You can choose any of the methods listed below. They allow you to extend your visa for one or more trips for the same period.

• Sign up or log in to the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs Dubai ( GDRFA ) app.
• Go to the dashboard and open dependent visa details.
• Tap the “Renew Residence” icon.
• Fill up the details.
• Select delivery method.
• Attach documents.
• Submit the fee.
• Wait for SMS/email confirmation.

• Login/Register to the GDRFA website.
• Click the “Services Guide”.
• Go to the “Entry Permissions” option and click “Entry Permissions Sevices”.
• Scroll down to the “Extension of entry permit” option and click it.
• Select the most relevant service from the options listed on the site.
• Click the “Start the Service” icon on the top-left.
• Go to Amer’s website (amer247.com).
• Click “UAE tourist visa” in the top-right corner. You will be redirected to a new tab featuring 14 types of tourist visas varying based on the number of days, validity and prices.
• Select the most relevant one for you and click “Apply Now”.
• Fill out the form by entering your credentials and travel details (number of passengers, passport copies and photos with white background).
• Pay the fee.
• Proceed to the completion of the process.
• Go to the nearest Amer typing centre in Dubai .
• Buy a queue ticket and wait.
• Submit your application.
• Wait for your request to proceed.

VISA PROCESSING TIME

Usually visa extension in Dubai takes 3 to 5 business days. However, the time may vary according to your visa type and other specific requirements.

Once you’re extended visa is processed, you can collect it via the visa application centre or a local post office as directed by the authorities.

HOW TO EXTEND TOURIST VISA IN DUBAI UPON ARRIVAL

Citizens of some countries can renew tourist visa in Dubai upon arrival for the same period. Here’s how to do it.

• Log in to the GDRFAD smart service system through username or UAE Pass
• Search for the visa renewal service
• Fill in the application data
• Pay the service fee

The following citizens can apply for a visit visa extension in Dubai upon arrival:

• USA visa holder
• US National
• UK residence visa holder
• Citizens with residence visa from European Union countries
• Indian national with at least one special visa that is valid for six months or more

COST OF TOURIST VISA EXTENSION IN DUBAI

The general visit visa renewal UAE price is AED 600 with a 5% value-added tax. However, for those inside the country, the fee is AED 500.

The following additional fees are applicable if the sponsored person is inside the country.

Please note that the total visit visa renewal UAE price may vary depending on the circumstances surrounding the sponsored individual.

DUBAI TOURIST VISA EXTENSION FINE

Visa overstayers who don’t renew their tourist visa will have to pay a fine of AED 50 for each extra day they have overstayed. There used to be a 10-day grace period after which the fine was imposed. However, that is no longer the case, and the fine is imposed right after the day your visa has expired.

VISIT VISA EXTENSION IN DUBAI RULES

• There are multiple types of tourist visas in Dubai , including five-year multiple entry tourist visa, Dubai visa on arrival and Dubai Visit Visa for GCC Nationals and Residents.
• You can extend the validity period of UAE visa for additional 30 days, it can be done twice for every 30 days.
• You can stay in the country for up to 120 days within the same year, this is the maximum duration allowed, and after this, you will have to extend your visa.
• Check the expiry date of the first extension and apply for a second renewal before it expires.

EXEMPTION FROM A TOURIST VISA EXTENSION IN DUBAI

Certain tourists are not required to apply for a tourist Dubai visa extension. These include:

• Residents in GCC countries
• Visitors accompanied by GCC nationals
• Those on special entry permits
• Those on a “96-hour permit for special missions”

The duration of a tourist visa depends upon its type. In Dubai, you may opt for a single-entry or multiple-entry visa. According to the new rules, a single-entry visa is valid for 30 or 60 days and can be extended for another 30 days.

You can renew a tourist visa in other emirates of the UAE through the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP/ICA). Here is how you can do it:

• Visit the online portal of ICP/ICA.
• Click on the “Services” tab.
• Find “Individual Services” from the drop-down menu and click it.
• Scroll down to the “Extension of a Multiple-Entry Tourist Visa” and click it.
• Click the “Start Service” icon in the top-right corner.
• Register via UAE Pass.
• Apply to extend permit (Single/multiple entries).

Alternatively, you can visit ICP/ICA-approved typing centres to initiate the visa extension process in the UAE.

DO AIRLINES OFFER A VISIT VISA IN THE UAE?

You can apply for a visit visa through airlines like Etihad Airways, Emirates, Fly Dubai and Air Arabia. Each of them has different conditions. However, their basic condition is that you are flying with them.

CAN I APPLY FOR A RESIDENCE VISA IF I AM WORKING OUTSIDE THE UAE?

Yes, foreigners employed outside the UAE can apply for a virtual work visa . This one-year visa allows you to enter the country under self-sponsorship and work as per the terms and conditions of the issued visa.

CAN INDIVIDUALS BELOW 18 YEARS APPLY FOR A DUBAI TOURIST VISA EXTENSION?

Parents of children below 18 must apply for a visa extension on their behalf. Those over 18 years of age can apply themselves.

Visitors to dubai no longer have a 10-day grace period before they must begin to pay fines for overstaying.

Visitors to the UAE whose visas are about to expire can extend their stay by up to 60 days if necessary.

Anyone who does not go through the proper procedures and stays beyond the validity of their visit visa will be subject to fines of Dh50 ($13.61) a day.

Visitors who stay beyond the time allowed without renewing their visas can also be arrested for staying in the country illegally. Inspection campaigns are regularly carried out to catch offenders.

Here The National explains how to avoid these fines by applying for a visa extension.

No more 'grace period'

Visitors to Dubai will no longer be granted a 10-day grace period when their tourist visa expires, so travel agents, The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP), and the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai (GDRFA) are urging visitors to apply for a 30-day extension visa before their original visa expires.

This extension can be applied for twice, resulting in an additional 60-day visit.

“People wishing to stay in the UAE after their visit visa expires should apply for a 30-day extension visa to stay legally in the country,” said an ICP call centre agent.

“They can apply for a second 30-day extension, maximum.”

The authority encouraged visitors to arrange the extension in advance of the current visa expiring, and warned of the upper limit for number of days spent in the country.

“People should be aware that the total duration of stay within a year should not exceed 120 days,” the agent said.

How much does it cost?

According to the ICP website, the cost of extending a visit visa is Dh610.

However, according to Amer, an immigration service centre, the cost for an extension of a visa issued by GDRFA-Dubai is Dh800.

Fees can vary between Dh800 and Dh1,100 when applying through a travel agency.

Where do I go to get the extension?

“The 30-day extension visa can be issued by the same travel agency that issued the visa for the customer in the first place," said Roshan Davis, manager of Golden Talent Tourism Agency in Dubai.

Visitors who obtained a visa on arrival can apply for an extension via the ICP or GDRFA-Dubai websites, or customer service centres.

Anyone with a visa on arrival can also take their passport to Dubai airport immigration in the Terminal 3 arrival area, Mr Davis added.

What are the required documents?

Holders of a visit visa should send a copy of their original visa and passport to the travel agent for extension. They can also visit the ICP or GDRFA-Dubai website to apply for an extension and the visa will be extended within 48 hours.

The passport should have a validity of at least six months to apply for an extension.

For how many days can validity be extended?

How UAE visit visa holders can apply for 30-day extension inside the country – total cost, application process and requirements explained

According to immigration authorities, only travel agencies can apply to extend the visa.

Dubai: If you are currently on a tourist visa in the UAE, and are planning to extend your trip, you can apply for an entry permit extension for an additional 30 days.

On Sunday, June 4, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security (ICP), posted a video tutorial on their official social media channels on how to extend entry permits inside the UAE through their official service platform – smartservices.icp.gov.ae.

How to extend the tourist visa inside the UAE

If you have a tourist visa for Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah or Fujairah, the authority in charge of overseeing visas is ICP. If you want extend your stay in Dubai, the authority that approves and issues the extension is the General Directorate of Foreign Affairs Residency – Dubai (GDRFA).

Here are all the details.

Extending tourist visa online through ICP

According to ICP, the online application for extending entry permit can only be done by tourism companies in the UAE.

Requirements

To apply for the extension you must have a copy of your passport, with the passport valid for at least six months.

Extension period

According to the ICP website – the tourist visa can be extended twice for 30 days .

According to ICP, three types of entry permits can be extended for 30 days: 1. Extension of entry permit (for tourism) 2. Extension of entry permit (visit) 3. Extension of entry permit for residents of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries

How long does it take to receive the extension?

As per ICP, the entry permit is issued electronically 48 hours after receiving and accepting the application.

Extending tourist visa online through GDRFA – Dubai

For Dubai tourist visa holders, only accredited tourism offices in Dubai can apply for the visa extension, according to the GDRFA website – gdrfad.gov.ae.

The tourist visa holder must provide a valid tourist visa copy to apply for the service through a tourism office, according to the GDRFA website.

“It may be extended by a decision of the issuing authority for one or more times, not exceeding 120 days in total ,” according to the GDRFA website.

• Visa extension fee: Dh600 , plus five per cent Value Added Tax (VAT) Additional fees (if the sponsored person is inside the country): • Knowledge dirham: Dh10 • Innovation dirham: Dh10 • Fee inside the country: Dh500 Total: Dh1,120 The website adds: “The total amount of the visa may vary depending on the circumstances surrounding the sponsored person or for any other reasons that may require that.”

The cost of tourist visa extension varies depending on the duration of the extension and other factors.

• The general visit visa renewal fee in the UAE is AED 600 with a 5% value-added tax (VAT).
• However, for individuals already inside the country, the fee is AED 500.
• Additional fees apply if the sponsored person is inside the country, including AED 10 for Knowledge Dirham and AED 10 for Innovation Dirham.

Dubai Tourist Visa Extension Fine :

Pay around 990 AED to extend your 30 days free on-arrival visa. The UAE government grants you a 10 days grace period in case you miss on your expiry dates and offers you 20 days after you apply for extension. Cumulatively, you get to spend 60 days in the UAE from the day one to your departure date.

You may exit UAE briefly to the neighboring countries like Oman and apply for an express visa back to the country. You can either travel by road to the other country or opt for airport transfer which is faster.

Visa Extension for Cancelled Residents Visa Holder

If you are already in the UAE and your visa gets cancelled, the UAE Immigration grants you a free 30 to 60 days grace period to decide on the way forward in the country. If you decide to exit the country, take this time to settle your tenancy contracts, mobile bills, credit card, loans and home connections and then exit the UAE. If you are switching jobs or want to stay longer, make use of the grace period to obtain a tourist visa. UAE visa extension new rules - 2024

The UAE government has come up with new visa extension regulations that ought to be adhered to by every traveler.

Dubai residents are now allowed to sponsor family and friends to stay in the UAE for up to 90 days. This visa, known as the UAE visit visa for family and friends is valid for 90 days and an be applied through the GDFRA website, a mobile application, or the Amer center. The UAE now offers a Travel Insurance that covers Covid-19, so if you want to extend your visit or tourist visa, obtain the insurance just in case its needed.

If you are an Indian national with a USA visa, EU Residence Permit or a UK Residence Permit, you qualify for the on-arrival UAE tourist visa but at a cost. To extend this visa, you must pay an extension fee of 250 AED and 20 AED service charge. The move to eliminate the need for visa for Bosnia and Herzegovina citizens symbolizes the deepening diplomatic connections between the two countries that result in smooth travel for their citizens. • September 27, 2023 The UAE announced its plans to implement the GCC visa which will operate just like the Schengen visa. This visa will allow travelers to enter any of the GCC countries, which includes, the UAE, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain without any constraints. UAE's visiting visa rules: What has changed, what should travellers keep with them

Dubai: The latest guidelines regarding the UAE visiting visa have become a matter of concern for many who were planning a trip to the country. Affi Ahammad, MD of Smart Travels said that the passengers should keep all the documents ready at hand to be produced at the airport, to ensure hassle-free travel. The guidelines state that the passengers arriving in the country on a visiting visa should carry: 1) A valid return ticket 2) Address of friends or relatives with whom they plan to stay. It's better if they travel from India with the relative with whom they are going to stay 3) Passport with a validity of six months 4) Copy of their Emirates ID 5) 5000 dirhams in account or equivalent amount as currency

Meanwhile, the guideline that one should carry a bank statement for the last six months isn’t strict. Also, if not 5000 dirhams, they should have at least 3000 dirhams with them or possess a credit card with the stipulated limit. Rules relaxed in 2020, but... The above rules existed earlier too, but they were relaxed in September 2020. The directives were repealed when the travel agencies expressed concern that it would disappoint job aspirants who wish to come to the UAE and that it would adversely affect the businesses. However, now, many are troubled that the government has made it stricter again. Many passengers, including Malayalis, who failed to fulfil these guidelines or produce necessary travel documents were detained at the Indian airports and were not allowed to board the planes.

Some others who managed to land in Dubai were reportedly detained by the immigration authorities there. The government’s move to make the visit visa guidelines stricter has quashed the dreams of many youngsters who were eager to find a good job in the UAE. People who belong to families that aren’t financially sound have struggled to arrange the money for purchasing visas and air tickets. Now, they can't arrange Rs 68,000 more so that they could adhere to the directives. In the beginning, the passengers were reportedly detained at the Dubai airport. However, now, checking has been made stricter at the Indian airports too. It was reported that a few passengers who hail from the Idukki district in Kerala were detained like this and sent back to India. But, the Dubai immigration authorities haven’t issued any official statement regarding this.

No new vacancies, boost for tourism The number of job seekers who arrive on visiting visas has gone up significantly, especially after the COVID-19 outbreak. Since the vacant posts were filled as soon as the pandemic subsided and the financial sector was recovering slowing, new vacancies weren’t created. Currently, hundreds of job aspirants are in UAE, trying hard to land a job. Among them, most Keralites are highly educated and experienced too. Inspections are conducted regularly at the airports in Dubai to ensure the safety of the passengers. Lots of cases have been reported for overstaying. Experts in the travel and tourism industry observe that the latest actions by the authorities would only boost the tourism sector in the Emirates. They say that strict inspection would make the immigration procedures transparent and would save the passengers from difficulties caused by miscommunication.

Most didn't have address proof The passengers who were detained at the airport in Dubai were the first batch of flyers who faced a crisis as they couldn’t produce proper travel documents. Even though most people could prove that they had the stipulated amount at hand, they failed to provide the address proof of relatives or other accommodation details. When some of them said that they were residing with their relatives, the officials inquired about their address and Emirates ID. But, the passengers had to return as they couldn’t produce these details. Meanwhile, some others had to wait at the airport for hours before returning. These people had to suffer such hardships at the airport as they weren’t informed about the guidelines by the travel agents. However, the travel agents say that they too had no idea as these weren’t stricter earlier.

You will need to show a bank balance of at least $4,000 in the previous six months, proof of active & valid health insurance and arrangements for stay in Dubai, and a return air ticket will be required for this visa.

It takes 3 to 4 working days to process a Dubai tourist visa for Indian nationals, although express visa applications may be obtained faster. The tourist visa is valid for either 30 or 60 days. Suppose you are applying for a visa extension. In that case, the processing times may differ (we may have to explain a bit about this extension as well. Whether it can be done from Dubai, offline, online, through an agent, before the expiry or on expiry etc).

A transit visa allows you to be in the UAE for a short duration of 48 or 96 hours. Typically this lets you exit the airport for a short window provided you have sufficient time to come back and catch your next connecting flight.

If you hold an Indian passport, you can get a visa on arrival in Dubai if you possess a UAE tourist visa, which costs AED 120, a UAE residence visa, a Gulf Cooperation Council visa, a European Union or United Kingdom visa, a United States visa, or a Canada visa.

Visitors to the UAE can now come to the country on a three-month visa, Khaleej Times can reveal.

A call centre executive at the Federal Authority For Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP) said that people who want to visit the UAE for 90 days can make use of the opportunity. “They should consult their travel agents who will help them in issuing the 90-days visit visa,” said the call centre executive.

According to industry experts, this visa was introduced by the end of May 2023, allowing visitors to stay in the UAE for up to 90 days. The visa can be extendable within the country at an additional cost based on the service provider.

Residents are not aware of this three-month visa, Libin Varghese, sales director at Rooh Tourism LLC, said.

Different types of entry permits

“There are two types of entry permits — a tourist visa or a leisure visa and a visit visa. A tourist visa is issued for 30 or 60 days. The visit visa is issued for 90 days,” said Subair Thekepurathvalappil, senior manager for inbound and outbound operations at Regal Tours Worldwide, adding that this extended visit visa complements the existing tourist visa options, which includes a 30-day or 60-day stay, offering travellers greater flexibility in planning their itineraries.

The 30-day and the recently introduced 60-day tourist visas have long been popular among visitors seeking shorter stays in the UAE, providing ample time to explore the country's iconic landmarks and indulge in world-class shopping and dining experiences.

Who can apply?

Industry experts said that anyone can apply for this visa. “Currently, we have not received much inquiry about it, and visitors who prefer this entry permit are their family members residing in the UAE, as they want to spend a longer time. Take for instance, if a child who is studying in his home country visits UAE during vacations or parents of a resident,” said Varghese.

The fee for a 90-day-visit visa varies depending on your issuing travel expert, with a starting price of Dh1,500 and can go up to Dh2,000, which can even be extended within the country. “The exact details of extension has not been announced as the visa was introduced a few days ago,” said Varghese.

Documents required

According to Subair, one must submit the following documents if planning to apply for the long term visit visa:

• Recent passport-size coloured photograph
• Passport copy
• Processing time

“Once a person applies for this visa, it may take up to five working days. But we can even receive it in two days,” said Subair.

Planning A Dubai Visit? Comply With UAE's New Visa Rules Or Face Issues

D ubai has instituted some changes in its visit visa rules, urging travellers to carry Dh3,000 cash, a valid return ticket, and proof of accommodation boarding a flight, Khaleej Times reported on Thursday citing travel agencies. Several Indian tourists who failed to comply with these guidelines were either denied boarding or found themselves 'stuck' at the airport.

According to the Khaleej Times report, authorities are ensuring these strict entry guidelines are followed. Firoz Maliyakkal, founder and CEO of Tahira Tours and Travels, told the media outlet: “People travelling to Dubai must have a valid visa with a passport having validity of at least six months. One must carry a confirmed return ticket. These are checks that are being done earlier.”

Maliyakkal further added that authorities are ensuring a traveller has enough money as 'proof of funds to sustain your stay in Dubai'.

“The amount is any currency equivalent to Dh3,000 in cash or credit card. One has to provide a valid address proof of accommodation in the UAE; it can be either a relative's or friend’s home or a hotel booking,” he told Khaleej Times.

Another travel agent said that this step will positively impact the tourism sector of the emirate and ensure people don't overstay.

“Stringent checks provide transparency and prevent any discrepancies for people travelling to the UAE," he told the Dubai-based outlet.

Khaleej Times also quoted travellers saying they were not allowed to board or were stranded at the Dubai airport. Local media outlets further stated that airlines are making sure that visiting visa holders must have hotel reservation paperwork. Passengers whose flights were cancelled were not allowed to reschedule.

The UAE Is Giving A 10-Year Residency Visa To Sustainability Champions

The UAE currently offers three types of visiting visas —14 days, 30 days and 90 days. The 14-day visa is available for single-entry permits but does not have an extension possibility. But the 30 and 90-day visa can be extended twice.

Legendary actor Rajinikanth has been granted the prestigious UAE Golden Visa by the Department of Culture and Tourism in the country. The superstar took to social media to express his gratitude towards the Abu Dhabi government and MA Yusuff Ali, the chairman and managing director of Lulu Group, for their efforts in making this possible.

During his recent visit to the UAE, Rajinikanth met with MA Yusuff Ali and other top executives of Lulu Group. The actor and the businessman were even spotted sharing a ride in a Rolls Royce, sparking speculation about a potential collaboration between the superstar and the Lulu Group owner.

What is the Golden Visa?

The Golden Visa is a long-term residence visa which is granted to talents from other nations to study, work or even live in UAE, while they enjoy some exclusive benefits. 

Here are some key pointers about the Golden Visa

- Benefits include an entry visa for six months with multiple entries, a renewable residence visa valid for 5 or 10 years, and not needing a sponsor

- Golden visa holders can stay outside the UAE for more than six months to keep their visa valid, sponsor family members and domestic helpers, and allow family to stay until the permit duration ends if the primary holder passes away

- Golden visa requirements vary depending on the type of residence, such as investor, talent, entrepreneur, etc.

- Investors in public investments need to show a deposit or capital of AED 2 million, provide proof of annual tax payments of at least AED 250,000, and provide full ownership of the invested capital

- Real estate investors must own properties valued at a minimum of 2 million dirhams or purchase property with an approved loan from specific local banks

- Entrepreneurs must have a technical or innovative economic project supported by authorities, auditors, and business incubators

- Outstanding specialised talents, like doctors, scientists, and inventors, must meet specific criteria and obtain approval letters from relevant authorities

- Golden visa may be granted for 10 years to exceptional talents like doctors and scientists with approval from Ministry of Health and Prevention and Emirates Council of Scientists, respectively

- Inventors need a recommendation letter from the Ministry of Economy, while creative individuals in culture and arts need an approval letter from the Department of Culture and Arts in the respective emirate.
