People always ask what it’s like to “Queue” for a ticket to Wimbledon. Met Devendra while walking to Wimbledon… He traveled from Texas to queue all day and overnight to get into Wimbledon, sleeping in line overnight. In the rain! After getting in line at 10AM the day before, he was 133rd in the line and 520 out of thousands of people got in. Would you do it? This was a wonderful trip! On my bucket list for 40yrs and the Wimbledon experience was next level! Our seats were wonderful and saw matches in both Court 1 and Center Court. Enjoyed our time. Nice hotel in a very nice location. Attentive personnel to answer a bevy of questions and concerns. Made sure we got to the Wimbledon grounds and then gave a much appreciated tour of the grounds and specifically said to take advantage of the debenture lounges.

This was a bucket list birthday gift for my husband, and this particular experience did not disappoint. There’s something magical with all the traditions of Wimbledon, and Mac Travel allowed us to experience all the iconic details. Organized very thoroughly and Michael and Jessica were very attentive throughout. Loved every minute!

This was a great experience. 1st class all the way. Michael and his staff could not have been more accommodating. Everything was perfect from the choice of hotels to dinner recommendations. Each day at Wimbledon was such fun and again, 1st class. Not only did we see matches on Courts #1 and Center Court but our seats were up close and near mid court.

This is the second time we have traveled with Mac Sports Travel and will absolutely will again. Everything is a top shelf experience. Not only are the tickets and facilities excellent, the staff ensures you are completely taken care of and you get to enjoy what is probably a bucket list trip.

This was our 2nd straight year of attending Wimbledon and using the wonderful services provided by MAC Sports Travel. New hotel (Royal Garden Hotel) was definitely an upgrade from prior year due to its location in Kensington with much more life (food/pub/entertainment) after 8:00pm than we had in Chelsea. We chose 3 days of tennis this year and enjoyed each day more than the previous day. Great seats to watch the middle rounds. MAC Sports Travel also included a High Tea at the Ritz which was such a nice addition to our week. As last year 5 stars again for Michael and Jessica..

My trip to Wimbledon was Amazing!. I do not plan to travel to any sports event unless it is planned out by Macs Sports Travel. The hosts are beautiful and attentive people. The trips and all tours are very well organized and the hosts are either personally with you or a quick text away. Responses to any text are within seconds. You never feel or get lost when you travel with Macs Sports Travel. I travelled to the Australian Open and Wimbledon with them and I intend, God's willing, to travel to the French Open with them. We had an AMAZING time in London and Wimbledon! MAC Travel made everything super convenient and easy. The private tour they provided was wonderful. We were able to see so many sites in a short period of time. I loved that the driver/tour guide customized it to meet our interests. The day at Wimbledon exceeded all of our expectations. MAC Travel helped us arrive at the perfect time, gave us a tour of the grounds and helped us get the most out of our time there. Our seats were great, and we enjoyed the debenture lounge that our tickets allowed us access to. The Wimbledon grounds are breath taking. Highly recommend!

Our Wimbledon experience with MacSports was really amazing! Michael Jeffs and his team arranged every aspect of our itinerary from our 5-star hotel accommodations to airport transfers, to tournament tickets and even a sightseeing tour. But our days at the All England Lawn Tennis Club were the cream on our strawberries! Incredible seats in Center Court and Court 1, and VIP access to the lounges were over the top special. We can't overstate how happy we are with MacSports for hosting our wonderful vacation.

Amy and I had an absolutely fantastic experience with Michael and his team at Mac Sports Travel! We attended our first French Open and Mac made it a 5 Star experience for us with transport from and to CDG airport, wonderful hotel accommodations, excellent tickets at Roland Garros, special welcome and tasting event at a local restaurant AND a great tour of Paris. Having him and his team on site gave us an extra level of comfort and security knowing that they would be there to look after us. We’re looking forward to our next destination trip with them!

We just returned from our trip to Paris arranged by Mac Sports Travel. My sister and I are big Tennis fans and we love to see Rafael Nadal play in person maybe for the last time. We arranged a trip to Roland Garros from Miami and used Mac Sports Travel. We chose them because of the wonderful reviews we read about the company and they did not disappoint. Mac Sports was a joy to work with, very professional and knowledgeable from beginning to the end. We rate them10 out of 10, They took care of everything with ease, from airport transfers, to the choice of hotel, to the welcome dinner/ met with the team and our group, to the incredible seats we received which included hospitality suites at Roland Garros. They accommodated our request to see Moulin Rouge and was happy they even went with us to the dinner and show. The tour of Paris/cruise on the Seine is an icing on the cake. We really enjoyed this trip because of the Mac Sports team headed by Michael and his 3 angels: Jessica, Neil and Julia.. We felt special and safe throughout our stay, they definitely earned our business. We highly recommend Mac Sports and intend to use them again to go to Australia open in 2024.

2024 Mallorca 312

Starting next to the Mediterranean coast, you will climb some of the nicest mountains of the island. Pass through traditional and rustic villages and then return back to enjoy your off-the-bike time! Mallorca has become the epi-centre of European cycling tourism in recent years. Its landscapes, its climate and its road network are without any doubt the 3 main reasons for this.

The Mallorca 312 is the longest one day amateur cycling event on the sportive calendar and it’s also one of the toughest. The long course takes in 312 kilometres of riding with over 5,000m of climbing. The other shorter distances still also pack in a lot of ascent. It’s nice to have a focus for your winter training but as the event comes fairly early in the year, it may be tough to put in the necessary training miles. It is great therefore that when you register for the event you don’t have to specify which route you will ride and like the Maratona dles Dolomites and the Sella Ronda, you can decide on the day. The initial part of all 3 distance routes is the same but if you get to half way and you don’t feel up to it, you can always do just the 167km. The event was conceived initially as a lap of the island but but now loops back back north to facilitate road closures. The sportive includes the main climbs of the Tramuntana mountains like the Puig Major, Col de sa Predissa and Col de Feminina.

Welcome to Power Rankings, a weekly feature on SI Golf from our partners at KeyCompete . This week the top 30 players in the regular-season points list head to the season and FedEx Cup finale, the Tour Championship at East Lake . Here’s how our model sees it shaping up.

Tour Championship Preview

Atlanta’s East Lake Golf Club is historic and renowned for its challenging layout. Designed by Donald Ross in 1904 and renovated by Andrew Green in recent years, the course blends traditional charm with modern challenges. Green’s updates have lengthened the course and redesigned several putting surfaces, enhancing difficulty while preserving classic character. Players will face a new-look course this week , a par-71 that includes a fresh par 5. Here’s how our model sees it playing out.

KeyCompete’s Tour Championship Power Rankings (WITHOUT STARTING STROKES)

1. Scottie Scheffler (+400) - Combination of consistency and power (and a two-shot lead straight out of the gate) make him our favorite. His remarkable season, highlighted by six wins, would make him a worthy champion.

2. Xander Schauffele (+400) - Riding the wave of a historic, two-major season. He’s also a horse for the course, as he’s never finished worse than T7 in the Tour Championship, dating back to 2017.

3. Sam Burns (+1800) - Has flashed impressive form and aggressive play throughout the season. Enters the week hot, with two straight top-5 finishes.

4. Sungjae Im (+2200) - Steady and disciplined. Could surprise. 

5. Tony Finau (+2000) - Power and accuracy are a good match for East Lake.

6. Ludvig Åberg (+1600) - Continuing a breakout year that began Sunday at Augusta National. T2 last week.

7. Patrick Cantlay (+2000) - A previous Tour Championship winner, experience and skill set make him a strong bet once again.

8. Rory McIlroy (+1000) - Proven history at East Lake and a strong season overall despite a few near-misses. Blend of power and precision remain unmatched.

9. Wyndham Clark (+2000) - Regaining form after drifting a bit during summer majors.

10. Collin Morikawa (+2000) - Flashed at the majors this year with nothing to show for it. Strengths should be a good match for East Lake.

2024 BMW Championship Recap

Keegan Bradley scored a truly stunning victory at the BMW (pre-tournament odds had him at +10000). He moved from 50th to fourth in the FedEx and may have also played his way into consideration for a spot on the U.S. Presidents Cup team, where he’s already slated to be an assistant captain.

2024 Tour Championship odds, picks, field: Surprising predictions from golf model that's nailed 13 majors

Sportsline's proven model simulated the tour championship 2024 10,000 times and revealed its surprising pga tour golf picks.

With an Olympic gold medal, two green jackets and two PGA Tour Player of the Year awards, Scottie Scheffler will look to add another accomplishment to his resume at the 2024 Tour Championship. The event will crown the FedEx Cup champion, with a runner-up in 2022 being Scheffler's best finish to date. He began that year's Tour Championship leading in the standings, and thus had a two-stroke lead, before losing to Rory McIlroy by one stroke. Scheffler is hoping for redemption at the Tour Championship 2024, where he'll again start with a two-stroke lead over Xander Schauffele.

The 2024 Tour Championship will begin on Thursday from East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta with the first tee times coming at 11:16 a.m. ET. Scheffler is the +110 favorite, with Schauffele next in line at +205. Hideki Matsuyama will start three strokes back and is at +1200, per the Tour Championship 2024 odds, while McIlroy (six strokes back) is at +1800. Before locking in your 2024 Tour Championship picks, be sure to see the golf predictions and projected leaderboard from the proven computer model at SportsLine .

SportsLine's proprietary model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been red-hot since the PGA Tour resumed in June 2020. In fact, the model is up more than $9,500 on its best bets since the restart, nailing tournament after tournament.

This same model has also nailed a whopping 13 majors entering the weekend, including the 2024 Masters -- its third Masters in a row -- and this year's PGA Championship and U.S. Open. Anyone who has followed it has seen massive returns.

Top 2024 Tour Championship predictions 

One major surprise the model is calling for at the 2024 Tour Championship: McIlroy (+1800), a 26-time winner on the PGA Tour and one of the top favorites, stumbles this week and doesn't even crack the top five. McIlroy had quite the late-spring/early-summer run over a span of seven tournaments. He had back-to-back victories, as well as five top 5s over that stretch, but it's been a struggle on the PGA Tour since then. He missed the cut at The Open, finished 68th out of 70 golfers at the St. Jude Championship, and then placed 11th a week ago at the BMW. Eleventh place was also his finish at last year's Tour Championship, based on his 72-hole score.

McIlroy is starting the 2024 Tour Championship 4-under-par, so he has a sizable six strokes to overcome to catch Scheffler. That's quite a large gap considering that McIlroy ranks just 67th on tour in total birdies. He's had numerous birdie opportunities slip through his fingers due to his putter, as the Irishman is just 65th on the PGA Tour in strokes gained: putting. Considering his recent slide, strokes to overcome and struggles on the greens, McIlroy is one to fade with 2024 Tour Championship bets.  See who else to fade here . 

Another surprise: Viktor Hovland, a +6000 longshot, makes a strong run at the title. The reigning FedEx Cup champion will start eight strokes back at 2-under-par. However, this is a position that the Norwegian is somewhat familiar with as he had to chase down then-leader Scheffler to win the championship last year. Not only did Hovland win the 2023 Tour Championship with the starting strokes applied, but he also had the lowest 72-hole score without the staggered scoring applied.

Hovland has finished in the top 15 in all four of his starts at East Lake, based solely on his 72-hole score, and he was fourth at the tournament in 2021. Additionally, when in college at Oklahoma State, Hovland won the East Lake Cup at this course, so few can match his success at the venue. He was runner-up two weeks ago at the first FedEx Cup playoff event, so he clearly turns up his level of play this time of the year and could rise up the leaderboard this week.  See who else to back here .

2024 Tour Championship: Round 1 tee times, pairings and how to watch

The FedExCup finale begins Thursday at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia, with $25 million going to the eventual champion.

The Tour Championship uses a "starting-strokes" format, in which FedExCup points leader Scottie Scheffler will begin the event at 10 under par, with No. 2, Xander Schauffele, two shots back ( click here for the full starting scores).

PGA Tour postseason could use a little variety in its venues: Analysis

The PGA Tour could use a change of scenery for its postseason

ATLANTA — The PGA Tour postseason could use a change in scenery.

One solution that has no logistical possibility would be a new perk for the No. 1 seed. Along with starting the FedEx Cup finale with a two-shot lead, the top player would get to choose where to play the Tour Championship. The only caveat is it couldn’t be the player’s home course.

“It used to be East Lake,” Xander Schauffele said when asked for his choice.

He probably was more honest than sarcastic. Schauffele has failed to break par only three times in 28 rounds at East Lake. And those three rounds were all at even-par 70. But now East Lake has been changed dramatically , and Schauffele has reason to be leery.

Rory McIlroy picked Quail Hollow, where he has won four times. Scottie Scheffler leaned toward either the TPC Scottsdale or Bay Hill, “something with hard greens.” He has won at both venues. Hideki Matsuyama had to be reminded Augusta National is closed until October. He nodded, smiled and settled on Riviera, where he shot 62 on the last day to win this year.

Something needs to change, and it’s not just the steamy weather.

The PGA Tour prefers continuity to build familiarity. The format for the postseason has changed four times since 2007. The most obvious change was going to “starting strokes,” which is why Scheffler starts at 10-under par with a two-shot lead. But the biggest tweak was reducing the field — 70 players instead of 125 players at the start, down to 50 for the second event and 30 for the finale.

That’s not the problem.

What makes the BMW Championship stand out is moving it around. The second of three playoff events goes from Castle Pines outside Denver this year to Caves Valley outside Baltimore next year. Bellerive in St. Louis and Liberty National across the Hudson River from Manhattan are next in line.

The other two don’t move.

Yes, the heat can be unbearable in Memphis, Tennessee, in August. But it’s not necessarily any cooler in New Jersey or Missouri or most other places. The crowd is flat at the TPC Southwind , at least on the weekdays. The start of the playoffs doesn’t have a lot of buzz.

Of course, there’s that small matter of the building to the right of the fifth fairway at the TPC Southwind — FedEx headquarters, the company paying quite a freight.

The TPC Southwind used to stage a regular PGA Tour event held before the U.S. Open (it’s hot in June, too, by the way). And then when the tour lost a title sponsor for Firestone, Memphis took over as a World Golf Championship. And now it’s a playoff opener.

The course performs well for tournament golf, especially the closing holes. It rarely lacks for drama. But it lacks the electricity, outside of an afternoon thunderstorm in the summer.

Throw in the points system and the vibe coming out of the last two weeks was whether the top players even need to be there. Participation becomes a problem, and $20 million purses are no longer enough to compel players to be there.

McIlroy was asking himself why he needed to play in Memphis. He had just finished in a tie for 68th (against a 70-man field) and dropped all the way from No. 3 to No. 5.

Schauffele raised a similar question last week in the mile-high air south of Denver. Outside of winning, he was going to be No. 2 coming into East Lake even if he didn’t play. The thought crossed his mind as he was leaving Paris after the Olympics .

He thought back to something his father always told him. Would he regret not playing? He chose the BMW Championship, deciding it was the best way to be prepared for East Lake. He tied for fifth and stayed No. 2 in the FedEx Cup. No regrets.

Scheffler has reason to feel the same way, especially in a year like his and going from high altitude to Atlanta.

The bigger issue is the market. When the playoffs began in 2007, it was the New York area, Boston, Chicago and Atlanta. The PGA Tour no longer is in New York or Boston, two of the biggest markets. McIlroy floated the idea of California for prime-time golf on TV.

FedEx still gets the recognition it deserves because “FedEx Cup” is mentioned throughout the year. If an agreement can be reached, it would be ideal for the postseason to alternate out of the TPC Southwind.

In a perfect world, turn Memphis into a signature event and search for a title sponsor to move the playoff opener around the country. Start with New York or Boston.

The PGA Tour had contemplated — before the COVID-19 pandemic — moving around the Tour Championship, with East Lake as the anchor. Imagine going Atlanta one year, Whistling Straits or Shinnecock Hills the next year.

That thought no longer exists, and it’s probably just as well. This is the 21st consecutive year in Atlanta, and with the FedEx Cup and its value, “East Lake” has replaced “Tour Championship” as a destination for players starting the year. It now has tradition.

It’s getting there that can use a change.

Metallica are currently touring with 64 guitars – and 36 need to be ready to go at any given moment

WCCO-TV ’s Jeff Wagner was given a peak behind the scenes as the tour rolled into Minnesota, and the logistics are enormous. The touring crew consists of 156 personnel, which includes 40 steelworkers, with an additional 168 local production hands and 92 truck drivers. 800 locals are also employed to support each specific date.

But the number of six-strings that are brought along for the ride is what really catches the eye. That figure of 64 is split between guitar and bass , with the 36 gig-ready axes equating to 12 instruments per member.

Justifying that inflated figure, tour coordinator Jon-Michael Marino told WCCO-TV : “Across, let's call it 15-16 songs, there's various tunings. There's also things that happen naturally like strings breaking, guitars going out of tune that have to be swapped in the moment.”

Metallica’s current run has found the metal titans stop at each destination city for two nights, and perform two independent sets with no repetition. That’s a grueling run for the musicians and instruments alike, and so a suitably vast army of guitars has been assembled to roll with the punches of such heavy touring.

Adding to that array of guitars – which is likely to include Kirk Hammet’s latest signature guitar , the ESP LTD KH-V , and his iconic Greeny Les Paul – are 6,000 guitar picks , used or given away to the crowd each show, and 25 drumsticks that succumb to the same fate. Per night.

Therefore, across Metallica's five September dates, roughly 30,000 picks will be needed – roughly the same amount this writer probably has down the back of his couch.

To be fair, the construction of the eight towers, wrapped in LED screens, amounts to 36 hours of labor. They each weigh over 14 tons and are nearly 100ft tall. It would seem wrong, then, to tour with just a handful of instruments.

Kirk Hammett raised eyebrows late last year when he proclaimed that, no matter how impressive a player's solos are, they're going to be forgotten by most listener s: “I hate to say it, but non-musicians – who are the majority of the listening world – are not going to remember guitar solos ,” he told Total Guitar .

S ri Lanka captain Dhananjaya de Silva wants his teammates to get a chance to play county cricket in England. Silva, who has 12 Test centuries, has also expressed his desire to play in the red-ball format in English conditions.

The right-hander returned with scores of 74 and 11 in the first Test in the ongoing three-match series. He is playing his first-ever Test series in England. Overall, he has scored 3667 runs in 55 Tests at an average of 40.74 with the help of 15 tons and 15 half-centuries.

Silva's reaction came after the visitors put up a spirited performance in the opening Test despite losing the game by five wickets. He said (via ESPNCricinfo):

Sri Lanka skipper Dhananjaya de Silva further spoke about the challenges of playing in English conditions, citing the line and length as the main concern over pace. The 32-year-old said (via ESPNCricinfo):

"The speed is not troubling me, but the line and length. The opening bowler (Chris Woakes), he bowls in one area for 20 to 30 balls and that's the problem we have: with the swinging ball, not the pace… if the plans work here, we'll get on top."

After going down 0-1 in the three-match Test series against England, Sri Lanka have made two changes to their playing XI.

Silva has backed Pathum Nissanka and Lahiru Kumara to deliver in the second Test after they replaced Kusal Mendis and Vishwa Fernando in the lineup. On this, he said:

"Overall, Pathum is the best batter in the country at the moment. He has a good mindset and he has a good technique."

Nissanka has amassed 918 runs in 21 innings this calendar year. The right-hander has smashed three tons and as many fifties. Meanwhile, Lahiru has 85 scalps in 28 Tests so far.

The second Test will be played in Lord's, beginning on Thursday (August 29).
