You know the saying: "tall, dark and handsome". That first criteria can be pretty attractive to some people, but for others, it can lead to feelings of insecurity – unfortunately, our height is yet another aspect of our appearances which can make us feel inadequate as a result of societal pressures.

That's why we love to see celebrity couples challenging height stigma and not letting something as superficial as height gap get in the way of love.

In these famous current and former relationships , we've got a mix of couples, some with a man being the tallest – which society tells us is more 'acceptable' when it comes to straight relationships – and others where the woman is taller.

The latter gets some stigma in our society, even still today. But really, what does height matter? These celebs are proving the answer to that question is very little. How about we just live and let live, and not worry so much about who is tallest in the relationship - just like these A-listers?

Some of our most striking couple picks from over the years: Rod Stewart and Penny Lancaster (who towers over at 6"1, which is just one reason why she is an excellent model), Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman (OK, we know they're no more, but who could forget this former power couple?), Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds (Scarlett is 5"4), and Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus (now both having firmly moved on, it's so though that gap was reflected in their height difference). Tom Cruise is literally at the height of his career. The actor sent social media ablaze last night with a torrent of comment about his height when he was seen curiously taller than ever alongside Kate Middleton , Duchess of Cambridge, in London at the premiere of “Top Gun: Maverick.”

Cruise, who stands at 5-foot-7, was nearly eye-to-eye on the red carpet with 5-foot-9 Middleton in Prada ‘s suede cutout pumps set on 3-inch stiletto heels — boosting Middleton’s height to 6 feet tall. What a feat for the action star.

So, how did Cruise appear to catapult nearly 4 to 5 inches higher? Dressed in patent leather shoes that incorporated a stacked heel, it looked like it added close to 1.5-2 inches to his frame. According to some observers, the remaining 3 inches needed to reach Middleton’s height could be owed to elevating insoles, which typically support around 1.5 to nearly 3 additional inches, though they need to coordinate with the footwear’s silhouette for a secure fit.

With or without them, Cruise has walked tall for years alongside actresses clad in soaring stiletto heels by embracing astute styling tricks for grand height illusion. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with embracing one’s true height, but Cruise has a history of purposefully looking taller — he likely believes it’s a flattering silhouette that puts confidence in his steps.

Indeed. He has mastered this height hack through subtle, carefully coordinated poses along with the right clothes and shoes.

Cruise’s ex-wife Nicole Kidman , who measures 5-foot-10, was perhaps the most challenging of his red carpet partners, but together, they masterfully erected him throughout their marriage.

Just look to their arrival at the Herb Ritts exhibition opening on Oct. 22, 1992. The couple posed with their heads close together, with Kidman’s head leaning lower into him to deflect from the obvious height difference. Meanwhile, Kidman chose a modest kitten heel compared to Cruise’s taller Cuban heel. Nailed it.

But mistakes can be made. Months earlier on Jan. 18 at the Golden Globe Awards, Kidman, with an arched back and positioned with a mile-long space between their faces, with her chest at his side, made the contrast obvious — even in her kitten heels — as Cruise’s length diminished.

During his marriage to Katie Holmes , who is 5-foot-9, there were plenty of red carpet challenges despite the “Dawson’s Creek” star coming in 1-inch shorter than Kidman. But unlike Kidman, Holmes didn’t embrace kitten heels often — she preferred stilettos around 4 inches. But, by leaving some space between their bodies and Cruise leading ahead of her as they walked hand-in-hand at the Bambi Awards in 2007 in Duesseldorf, Germany, the height differences were minimized as much as possible.

The simplest trick Cruise employs is drawing attention upward through pattern and color. Alongside his 5-foot-9 co-star Cameron Diaz at their “Knight and Day” premiere on July 23, 2010 in Bordeaux, France, Cruise chose a striped ice blue top with dark-wash jeans and dress shoes that had stacked heels. His pose — a slant while partially positioning himself forward next to her — elongated the body as she leaned in and placed one foot behind her.

At the “Knight and Day” premiere in Seville, Spain, on June 16, 2010 he literally took things up a notch in heeled boots that added around 2 extra inches. They looked nearly even while she stood in 4-inch heels.

It’s not often Cruise gets the chance to look taller than his leading ladies, but he did so next to his “Top Gun: Maverick” co-star Jennifer Connelly, who is on equal footing with him, matching at 5-foot-7. Even with Connelly in heels, he managed to gain a fairly generous boost above her while at the Cannes Film Festival on May 18. As seen in his pose, Cruise diminishes the appearance of his width by standing to his side and positioning his body at an angle as she stood vertically and straight ahead. The stacked heels helped too.

Kidman’s height is reportedly 5ft 10½ inches (1.79 m/ 179 cm). The ‘Moulin Rouge’ actress has spoken about her tall stature numerous times.

As per reports she said in an interview, “I’m five foot 10½ – I’m very proud of the half because I don’t want to be five foot 11 – so structurally, there are certain things that suit my frame.”

Kidman also stated, “I have this thing about liking to be small onscreen cause I hate being tall I’m five ten, and it’s the one thing I’ve always hated my whole life is being really tall and taller than people.”

Surprisingly, she had also said, “I have no inhibitions about my height. I learned early on to be totally self-assured about it.”

She continued, “When I see a guy going out with a taller girl, I immediately like him. It shows he’s confident.”

At the time of this statement, the ‘Eyes Wide Shut’ actress was married to Tom Cruise, who is shorter than her.

She added, “Most men find it intimidating. Tom doesn’t mind my being taller than him. I could wear 3-inch heels, and he would like it.”

Besides, in another interview , she said, “I pick fault with everything.”

“But you must never tell anyone your faults, because then everyone else will see them! I used to see my height as a fault, and now I see it for what it is,” she asserted.

Kidman then added, “Basically, you have to realize there are things you just can't change.”

While this tactic may raise eyebrows, it’s actually par for the course in Hollywood, where height illusions are as common as plot twists. Interestingly, it seems that the women seen with Cruise, including Kidman, tend to opt for kitten heels or shoes with a lower lift, perhaps to keep the height mystery (and Cruise’s ego) alive.

However, when Cruise was photographed with ex-wife Katie Holmes, (5 foot 9 inches), eagle-eyed fans couldn’t help but notice Holmes rocked higher heels, but the two still looked relatively close in height. According to Footwear News , the ex-couple was often photographed with their bodies slightly apart, making the height difference less noticeable.

Nicole Kidman is looking back on her marriage to Tom Cruise more than two decades ago at age 23.

“I was so young when I got married. I look back now and I’m like, ‘What?’ ” she told the U.K.’s Red magazine.

She added: “You look at Taylor Swift , I mean how old is she? She’s 26. I had two kids by the time I was 27 and I’d been married for four years. But that’s what I wanted.”

Kidman, 49, married Cruise in 1990 after meeting him on the set of Days of Thunder . They later adopted two children – Isabella, now 23, and Connor, now 21.

She told DuJour magazine in 2012 that her life with Cruise was “perfect” before the rapid breakdown of their relationship and subsequent divorce in 2001.

The Aussie Oscar winner is now married to country star Keith Urban – and she told Red their relationship is stronger than ever. The couple recently celebrated their 10-year anniversary together.

“That’s really big for us. It was really up and down for the first three months. We’ve been through a lot for ten years. And we’re stronger than ever. I say that while touching wood, and no way in a boastful way. I just say it with wonder. Absolute wonder,” she said.

She added: “When you’re older, you’ve been through things, you’ve made mistakes. So you come into it [a second marriage], still giddy, but wanting it to last. We always consider the ‘us”. We say, ‘Is this going to be good for us?’ It’s the simplest phrase, but it works.”

Kidman also opened up about motherhood. She has two daughters with Urban – Sunday Rose , born in 2008, and Faith Margaret , born via surrogate in 2011.

Soon after news broke about Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' plans to divorce , fans noted a weird coincidence. All of Cruise's three marriages broke up when his wife at the time was 33, and ended when she was 34.

Cruise's first wife was Mimi Rogers, who was 31 when she wed 24-year-old Cruise in May 1987 and 33 when they broke up in 1990.

Cruise then married Nicole Kidman, 23, in December of 1990, and then separated in 2001, when Kidman was 33.

Holmes, 28, and Cruise wed in 2006, seven months after daughter Suri was born. And when word came Friday that Holmes had filed for divorce, those with a sense of Cruise history noted that Holmes was also 33.

Divorces, in each case, came when the woman in question had turned 34 (or so we assume with Holmes, who will turn 34 in December).

The coincidence didn't go unnoticed on social media, where no weird fact is too small to escape notice.

"How weird is it that Tom Cruise's three failed marriages have all ended while the women were 34?" tweeted Karen D'Souza. Others tried to find a connection between the number 33 and Cruise's well-publicized Scientology faith.

While Nicole claimed to DuJour  that she "thought [their] life together was perfect," Tom cryptically admitted, Nicole "knows why" the pair split. All in all: they had children, they had fame. Seemingly, they had it all — and it all fell apart. Why?

It begins so beautifully

Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman's relationship started in 1989, where they connected through — where else? — Hollywood. Kidman was a rising star, fresh from a string of Australian films and miniseries which had won her increasing accolades and attention in her country, the highest being the Australian Film Institute's Best Television Actress award, which she won at the age of 17. It was during a viewing of the 1989 Australian film Dead Calm that Cruise first set eyes on Kidman, according to Vanity Fair . Impressed with what he saw, he began putting things in motion to meet her in person to maybe cast her in a movie — and perhaps more, being that at the time he was in the process of divorcing from his first wife, Mimi Rogers.

So they met, and in short, Kidman fell hard for Cruise. And she'd be the first to tell you so. "He basically swept me off my feet," she told Vanity Fair in 2002. "I fell madly, passionately in love. And as happens when you fall in love, my whole plan in terms of what I wanted for my life — I was like, 'Forget it. This is it.'" Together, the duo starred as romantic opposites in 1990's Days of Thunder , and once Cruise's divorce was through, married the same year. At the time, Cruise was 28 , and Kidman was 23

Was Tom Cruse and Nicole Kidman's marriage destined to fail?

In what should have seemed inevitable from the very beginning, fractures in the marriage started to occur over a very specific ideological split — Tom Cruise was (and remains) a Scientologist, and Nicole Kidman was not, and seemingly had no intentions on ever becoming one. And if you've been keeping up with Scientology scrutiny in the news lately, it shouldn't surprise you to hear that a union like that doesn't have much of a chance, long-term.

As has been extensively covered in Lawrence Wright's book Going Clear , and the accompanying documentary film by Alex Gibney , the biggest source of friction between Cruise and Kidman came from forces outside their marriage — and inside Cruise's church . Supposedly, the story goes, leaders in Scientology were so concerned that Kidman was pulling Cruise away from Scientology, they began to conspire to end the marriage , something it had been rumored they had previously done with Cruise's first wife, Mimi Rogers. Marriages are hard enough to keep together without billion-dollar organizations reportedly pulling at every frayed thread, so the idea that this meddling would lead to the end of their marriage is not a hard pill to swallow at all.

Starting a family was tough for Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman

As things were beginning, there seemed to be no sign of the future misgivings that would tear the couple apart. In their breaks from movie shoots, they did fun things like skydiving together , and Nicole Kidman's enthusiasm for her Tom Cruise, and starting a family, was evident. "I was desperate to have a baby with him." she later said to Vanity Fair . "I didn't care if we were married."

Unfortunately, their path to biological parenthood was unsuccessful, leaving their marriage bookended by loss. "I had a miscarriage at the end of my marriage, but I had an ectopic pregnancy at the beginning of my marriage. It was incredibly traumatic for me," Kidman told  Marie Claire . She was also told by doctors that it would be "highly unlikely" for her to conceive, according to Tatler . "That yearning. It's a huge, aching yearning. And the loss! The loss of a miscarriage is not talked about enough," she told the same outlet, adding, "That's massive grief to certain women. There's an enormous amount of pain and an enormous amount of joy on the other side of it."

Tom and Nicole ultimately chose to adopt two children over the course of three years , Isabella and Connor, born in 1992 and 1995, respectively. They would raise the kids together up until their divorce after the decade's end in 2001.

Did Tom Cruise's religion get in the way?

Though Scientology's highest leaders were supposedly suspicious of Nicole Kidman  from the start, efforts were made to bring her into the organization and turn her into an ally. She was accelerated through the ranks of Scientology doctrine, but never truly got on board, according to The Sydney Morning Herald . Efforts were also allegedly made to get her to denounce her father, who was a psychiatrist, a specific field of study that Scientologists have long raged against . These efforts failed, and likely backfired.

Additionally, in May of 1991, Time magazine ran a scathing exposé on Scientology as their cover story, calling it a "thriving cult of greed and power." This article, coupled with her own personal misgivings with how Scientology was affecting her life, reportedly encouraged Kidman to try and pull Tom Cruise away from the organization. It was a game of tug-of-war that lasted until the end of the decade. The pressure must have been enormous, even before the church allegedly began tapping the phones in the couple's Los Angeles home, according to Vanity Fair . As their differences became irreconcilable and conditions in the marriage grew increasingly intolerable, Cruise and Kidman announced their impending divorce on February 6, 2001 .

Isabella Cruise hinted at a big rift with Nicole Kidman

For years, Nicole Kidman's relationship with her children remained estranged. Isabella Cruise grew up and got married without inviting her mother, even though they were in the same city at the time, according to Page Six . Neither child attended their grandfather's funeral, the Daily Mail reported. In the another article, the Daily Mail said they referred to Katie Holmes as "Mom" starting in 2006, and seemingly didn't talk about their real mother... at all.

Former Scientologist and actor Leah Remini shared an anecdote from this time period in her new book (via Vulture ), about an incident immediately after the 2006 wedding of Tom Cruise to Holmes. Sharing a ride to the airport, Leah asked the kids about their mother, and if they still saw her a lot. Bella surprised Leah with the ferocity of her answer. "Not if I have a choice," said Bella, reportedly. "Our mom is a f**king SP." And just in case you need that translated, it means "Suppressive Person," which is a term the church defines as someone who "will goof up or vilify any effort to help anybody and particularly knife with violence anything calculated to make human beings more powerful or more intelligent." Think that sounds bad? The church's official definition also cites "Napoleon, Hitler, [and] the unrepentant killer and the drug lord" as examples of Suppressive Persons. Yikes.  

Co-parenting got rocky for Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise

The big issue with divorce is almost always, who gets the kids? Would someone take full custody? Would Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman happily co-parent their preteens? They did, for a time, according to the  Daily Mail , but as Kidman's fame rose and she took more demanding jobs, the kids spent more and more time with their father, seeing their mother less and less. They began to be home-schooled by Cruise's sisters, with a Scientology-focused educational regimen, and one summer went to a Scientology-focused summer camp instead of spending it with Kidman. By 2005, they were effectively living with Cruise full-time, and by choice.

Cruise and Kidman's kids are adults who "make their own decisions," Kidman told  Who in 2018. Though she hasn't spoken much about their decision to largely stay with their father while growing up, Kidman did say, "They have made choices to be Scientologists and as a mother, it's my job to love them. ... I know 150 percent that I would give up my life for my children because it's what my purpose is."

In August 2016,  it was reported that Nicole finally met her daughter's husband, nearly a year after the two married. As for Isabella, she denies there are problems now. "Of course we talk," she said, They're my parents." Her son Connor spoke similarly. "I don't care what people say. I know that me and mum are solid. I love her a lot. My family means everything."

Nicole Kidman married too young

It's clear that Nicole Kidman was madly in love with Tom Cruise. But she might not have exactly been ready to get married. The star was just 23 years old when she walked down the aisle, and she's spoken numerous times about how her age played into their split. This includes telling Marie Claire that marriage is "hard when you're young." She did, however, admit that she was "ready to give up anything for love, because ultimately, that is what you have."

Today, though, it seems like Kidman can't completely wrap her head around why she tied the knot at such a young age. In an interview with the UK's Red magazine (via People ), she admitted, "I was so young when I got married. I look back now and I'm like, 'What?'" She went on, "You look at Taylor Swift, I mean how old is she? She's 26. I had two kids by the time I was 27 and I'd been married for four years. But that's what I wanted."

Nicole Kidman's marriage outshined her talent

Time has proven that Nicole Kidman is a star in her own right — if only because divorce gave her time to shine. Though the actress is more recently known for her role in HBO's Big Little Lies, she won the majority of her four Golden Globes after splitting from Tom Cruise. The same thing goes for her Oscar and BAFTA award, both of which she nabbed for The Hours in 2002, and her Primetime Emmy Awards, which she scored for the HBO hit. Initially, though, her agents warned her that tying the knot would be detrimental to her career. As someone uninterested in fame, she went through with it anyway — and they weren't totally wrong. Kidman did feel held back by her marriage, but only because of her own insecurities surrounding Tom's fame.

"I felt I became a star only by association," she told Glamour in 2008, adding, "I didn't think [the early movies] were very good, which is why I would always cower in the background. I thought, I don't deserve to be here. We would go to the Oscars and I would think, I'm here to support him. I felt it was my job to put on a beautiful dress and be seen and not heard."

Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman's marriage ran its course

Sometimes when something is done, it's just done. You have to admit it, wave your white flag, and move on. That's just what happened with Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise's marriage. Though the pair were wildly in love — and still manage to avoid hurling insults in the press because of that very real, shared love — ten years down the line, things just weren't working.

In a 2011 interview with Marie Claire , Kidman opened up about the real reason behind her divorce with Cruise. "That was a great relationship," she said. "I think it ran its course." Still, the Hours star was utterly distraught in the aftermath. "I was really damaged and not sure whether [love and marriage] was ever going to happen again to me," she admitted.

Kidman ultimately threw herself into work and spent the next six years alone, but it's something she had to do in order to grow. "I had to find my own identity, and my own reason for being here, and it couldn't be because of another person," she told Glamour in 2008. Of course, Kieth Urban was the light at the end of that tunnel. The pair tied the knot in 2006.

Nicole Kidman would do it all over again

Just because Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise didn't work out doesn't mean their marriage was a failure. Kidman, at least, seemingly has no regrets. Rather, she really cherishes the time that she spent with the Top Gun star. In an interview with Elle (via E! News ), Kidman looked back fondly on the ill-fate union, even though she managed to find a "more evolved" love with Kieth Urban.

"I want to be really careful with that because I don't want to take away from 11 years with that man that were really important," she admitted. "Really, for our kids — they were amidst a lot of love. It wasn't bad. And now we're amidst a more evolved love."

Nicole also admitted that — despite the unfortunate outcome — she'd marry Tom again in a heartbeat. "[He] taught me an enormous amount — as a girl into a woman. Absolutely, I would do it again," she said, proving that not all failed marriages are actually a failure.

How Many Films Did Tom Cruise And Nicole Kidman Star In Together?

When we talk about the '90s power couples, there are a few that have stuck in our minds through the decades. Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman , Brad Pitt and Gwyneth Paltrow, Richard Gere and Cindy Crawford, and of course, Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise. These iconic couples had people invested in their relationships from the moment they were spotted arm-in-arm on a red carpet all the way to the second news of their breakups broke.

Kidman and Cruise, in particular, caused a great stir when their marriage ended. Everybody remembers the striking image of Kidman as she strolled the streets in apparent glee as the divorce was finalized. Later, the "Big Little Lies" star opened up about the relationship saying, "Our life together was perfect. It took me a very long time to heal. It was a shock to my system," she added, "That was a great relationship. I think it ran its course. I was really damaged and not sure whether [love and marriage] was ever going to happen again to me," via InTouch Weekly . 

But as we all know, it all worked out in the end. Kidman found love in singer Keith Urban while Cruise went on to marry Katie Holmes and have a child with her before splitting up after six years of matrimony. And while Cruise and Kidman's marriage didn't last, it's safe to say their contributions to cinema will stand the test of time, especially in the movies they did together. 

Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise starred in three movies together

Unsurprisingly, the two Hollywood stars' paths first crossed on the set of the film, "Days of Thunder." In a 2017 interview with People , Nicole Kidman fondly reminisced about the first time she saw Tom Cruise during an audition for her role in the film, "I remember being so nervous and seeing Tom Cruise drive up in a Porsche [. . .] and he got out of the car and walked through, and I was like 'Ah!' and my jaw dropped." She also added that she was intimidated auditioning in front of the movie's executives and Cruise and believed she wouldn't get the part. But she was called and offered the role on the very same day.

Although Kidman had previously gained notoriety from working in the Australian thriller, "Dead Calm," and several other Australian films, she broke through the American film scene with "Days of Thunder." At the time of filming, Kidman was 22, while Cruise was 28 and in the process of getting a divorce from his first wife, Mimi Rogers. In a 1995 interview with Playboy , Rogers would share that the marriage primarily ended due to Cruise's desire to become a monk, which didn't happen. Months before the film's release in 1990, the divorce was finalized and Kidman and Cruise went public shortly after. The actors wed in a private ceremony on Christmas Eve that same year.

Eyes Wide Shut was one of their most notable projects

In 1992, Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise appeared in their first film as a married couple, "Far and Away." And while the film did relatively well, their big break as an iconic Hollywood couple would happen in 1999 with Stanley Kubrick's "Eyes Wide Shut." The official trailer for the film featured several explicit scenes, including some steamy kisses shared between the real-life couple.

Unsurprisingly, the couple's chemistry sizzled in the erotic mystery. In 1995, the couple admitted to Vanity Fair that their initial attraction was sexual. Kidman gushed, "I thought he was the sexiest man I'd ever seen in my life." And Cruise also said something similar, "Instant lust, that's what I felt," he added, "I thought she was amazingly sexy and stunning. It grew into love and respect."

Due to the themes of infidelity in the movie and their striking performances, many believed that Kidman and Cruise were tapping into real-life emotions. But Kidman denied these rumors in a 2020 interview with The New York Times , "We were happily married through that," she added, "We would go go-kart racing after those scenes. We'd rent out a place and go racing at 3 in the morning." Sadly, the couple's divorce was finalized in 2001 after 11 years of marriage. Although the pair has been vague about what went down behind the scenes, many have speculated that this might be why they really got divorced . 

Nicole Kidman finally speaks about adopted kids with Tom Cruise

Before she was happily married to Keith Urban, Nicole Kidman welcomed two children in her life with then-husband Tom Cruise.

Now, Kidman is breaking her silence on their two adopted children, Connor and Isabella Cruise, of whom she rarely speaks publicly.

“I’m very private about all that," she said in a new interview with Australian celebrity magazine "Who." "I have to protect all those relationships. I know 150 percent that I would give up my life for my children because it’s what my purpose is.”

Kidman confirmed that Bella, 25, and Connor, 23, are both practicing Scientologists like their father. 

“They are adults," Kidman said about their faith. "They are able to make their own decisions. They have made choices to be Scientologists and as a mother, it’s my job to love them."

Kidman is also the mother to Sunday, 10, and Faith, 7.

In May, Kidman revealed in an interview that one of the reasons she and Cruise did not have any biological children together was that she had a miscarriage early into one of her pregnancies.

“From the minute Tom and I were married, I wanted to have babies,” Kidman told Marie Claire magazine in 2007. “And we lost a baby early on, so that was really very traumatic.”

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban Have a Height-Illusion Trick for Picture Perfect Couple’s Photos

Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman are both huge stars, and often find themselves on the red carpet together. Whether they’re hitting the Oscars or say, the CMA Awards , which airs Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET on ABC, the husband and wife are seldom not by each other’s side.

But when country crooner Urban made his arrival at the ceremony tonight, he was solo — without the Oscar winner on his arm.

That said, with about a 1-inch height difference between them (Urban is believed to be 5-foot 10-inches, and Kidman 5-foot 11-inches) the couple could potentially appear a bit awkward smiling for the camera when Kidman dolls up in heels that give her a boost of even more inches. However, with their subtle, carefully coordinated poses, clothes and shoes, the talented lovebirds have managed to make their heights work for them in flattering ways.

Most recently in October, the singer and the “Big Little Lies” actress posed with their heads close together, with Kidman leaning into him with an arched back as a way to deflect from the obvious height difference. Meanwhile, Urban, standing upright,who is nominated in four categories at tonight’s CMA awards, rocked a black leather boot with roughly a 1-inch sole.

In another one of their carefully crafted poses, seen at the 69th Emmy Awards, Kidman and Urban each placed one shoe forward while the blonde angled her body slightly behind her husband — creating the illusion of more even height between them. The Australian beauty wore a nearly 2.5-inch heel by Calvin Klein that she completed with an ankle-skimming red dress that concealed her long legs.

At the 2017 Academy Awards, the couple stood apart for a photo, with Kidman, again, covering up her long stems to divert attention from their height difference, while Urban sported patent dress shoes that had a nearly .5-inch heel. Urban stood with his body angled to the side while his better half held his hand but shifted her body in a different direction, which can make them appear to be closer in height with the right camera angles.

The group shot, which was taken at a December 2023 hockey game and shared by former NFL player Derrick Brooks, recently resurfaced.

“Good Evening, Wow, look who stopped by my office before our [Tampa Bay Lightning] game tonight! @tomcruise,” the retired athlete, 51, gushed in his Instagram caption. “I was a little star struck but played it cool and He said he was too! 😂😂”

In the social media upload, the actor stood with his arm around Brooks while his 29-year-old son, Connor, flashed a thumbs up from Brooks’ other side.

Cruise and Kidman’s daughter, Bella, was also in the photo, with her head poking out along with a dozen other individuals.

The former couple adopted Bella, now 31, in 1992 amid fertility struggles. Connor joined the family three years later.

Kidman, 56, and Cruise, 61, were married from 1990 to 2001.

The “Mission Impossible” star and his next wife, Katie Holmes, welcomed daughter Suri before divorcing — and Cruise is now estranged from the 18-year-old .

Kidman, for her part, went on to welcome daughters Sunday, 15, and Faith, 13, with husband Keith Urban.

The “Big Little Lies” alum has issued rare statements about Isabella and Connor over the years as they have followed their dad’s Scientology -practicing footsteps, telling Who in 2018 that it’s her “job to love them.”

The actress explained, “I am an example of that tolerance and that’s what I believe – that no matter what your child does, the child has love and the child has to know there is available love and I’m open here.”

She also admitted to “GMTV” viewers in the wake of her divorce that Bella and Connor referred to her by her first name instead of “mom” ( via Hello ).

Kidman’s eldest children have remained mostly out of the public eye.

Bella, who married Max Parke r in 2015, shares art and occasional selfies on social media , while Connor enjoys fishing and has a barbecue business called Connor’s Meatshack.

He has made many appearances with Cruise over the years, with the duo most recently stepping out together in New York City in July 2023.
