Titan/Saga: Mobility required for Level 2 holidays

Hi Deb. Thank you for your response to my review. However, I’m afraid you have missed the point I was making in respect of mobility. It is not Saga giving advice, it is people being in denial of their mobility and booking inappropriate tours. On our recent tour, some folk were clearly in denial about their mobility and booked a level 2 holiday when it was clearly beyond their ability to walk at a moderate pace. This became a issue for those quite rightly wanting to enjoy the holiday they had booked. Hence my comment about the tour guide’s authority being made clear in holiday confirmation.

Canadian Rockies Grand Circle tour

We have just returned from our wonderful holiday in British Columbia and Alberta on the Canadian Rockies Grand Circle tour. Mostly a coach holiday, the pace was just right. The vehicle was very comfortable and our driver, Byron Stroud was excellent. We were lucky to be accompanied by tour manager Alex Cussins whose experience, knowledge and organisational skills were second to none. All the accommodation was very good and although the itinerary had to be altered a little (some things not yet open in May) the variety of activities and the fantastic scenery and wildlife could not fail to please. Two days on the Rocky Mountaineer were very special and not to be missed. All in all, a well planned trip from start to finish. Thank you Saga /Titan for making us feel quite special.

An incredible experience !

In the Footsteps of Livingstone. There are not enough words to say how wonderful this trip is!, I want to go again! Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe were incredible, a long awaited dream and my breath was taken away. Botswana magical. The game drives, river cruises , the light aircraft flight will never be forgotten. The animals up close , their babies and finally the elusive leopard I cannot put into words how amazing it was. We had a great guide Lech who made sure we saw so much and more. Lots of tears from me so overcome and in awe. Accommodation superb and our guide Morag was a lovely lady so sad to say goodbye. Titan thank you for a trip I will NEVER forget. I'm already looking through your brochure for another trip! Thank you highly recommend this trip .

We booked and paid a deposit with…

We booked and paid a deposit with extension our Kenya trip last October 2023 to take us on our next adventure this August 2024. A party of 4 costing over £20k Grand Safari Kenya with a Mombasa addition.Exciting and so looking forward to this. We went to pay our full cost on 24th May and was told by Hay’s Travel our agent that the holiday was no longer available on that date. 😢 So we gave a few different options we are still no further forward.Apparently we were told 6 spaces were left for 6th September so no problem let’s go for that but it seems the issue was the extension?we are guessing. But titan offer this in their brochure.Very frustrated customers because we are no further forward due to being not available now but Titan are not offering what is available with extension. Why is this taken so long it’s over two weeks and we have no confirmation.Hays Travel are keeping us updated but you don’t help the situation.

Hi our first experience with Titan was…

Hi our first experience with Titan was with Michael a driver from Plymouth. He picked us up from St Austell Cornwall and took us to a hotel near Gatwick airport. He was first class looking after my wife and myself on the journey could not ask for a better driver. Now looking forward to the onward experience and holiday in Sicily Arthur and Sharon Robertson

Hi, Thanks so much for your review. We're delighted to hear that you had a great start to your holiday and that Michael provided such great service. We hope you have a fantastic time in Sicily, Best Wishes, Nick Titan Travel

Bucket List Trip of a Lifetime - Route 66…

This Route 66 holiday was an awesome experience. As I/we sit back home writing this review, the impact this holiday made will be long lasting for months to come. Steve Pritchard, Titan (who chaperoned us from Heathrow and back and Joe (our driver Stateside) were a great combination that made the intensive pace run like clockwork. Steve’s attention to detail was second to none and his knowledge kept us focused on getting the best experiences. The hotels were well chosen and places visited well thought through. Checking into the hotels were made easy by Steve being able to ‘bulk’ all the room keys and hand them out on arrival. Any body contemplating a tour like this should ask for Steve Pritchard and Joe. A number of us are considering doing the Deep South tour next year with Titan, but requesting Steve & Joe to manage us. A huge applause is merited for making great memories. Bern & Diane Bakes 🥳👏👏

Date of experience : 05 May 2024

Hi Bernie and Diane, Thanks so much for sharing such a great review of your recent trip down Route 66. We're thrilled to hear that you had such a great time and really pleased that Steve and Joe did such a great job. We look forward to you making some more memories with us soon, Best Wishes, Nick Titan Travel

Canada Tour May 2024

From the moment we were picked up from home, to be driven to Heathrow, for our 2 weeks in Canada, everything was perfect. Our driver Trevor was excellent, nothing was too much trouble for him. At Heathrow we met up with our tour director, for the next 2 weeks, Alex Cussins. From that moment our holiday was perfect in every way, the planning, organisation, places we visited, the accommodation, all excellent. Even the 2 days on the Rocky Mountaineer was perfect. The organising of our luggage being collected before boarding, then left in our hotel rooms for when we arrived, perfect in every way. A special big thankyou to Alex, he was brilliant, his knowledge of everywhere we went, was incredible. Also, our coach driver for the 2 weeks, Baron Stroud, he was absolutely brilliant. Nothing too much trouble to him. This was our first Titan holiday, hopefully not our last. Thankyou. Val and Steve, Tingley, West Yorks.

Hi Val and Steve, Thanks so much for taking the time to share your review of your recent trip. It sounds like you had a wonderful experience exploring Canada. We're delighted to hear that Alex and the team did such a great job making the trip so special. We look forward to you joining us on another Titan adventure, Best Wishes, Nick Titan Travel

The Tour Guide and local guides were…excellent pity about hotels

The Tour Guide and local guides were excellent. The hotels not so good. Big conference hotels where we felt processed. Food, not wonderful and coffee awful. Too many other tours at one hotel, dining room was crowded and noisy. Locations not too good re access to other restaurants. A pity as Puglia is well worth the visit.

Date of experience : 13 May 2024

Hi, Thanks for taking the time to share your review. We're really pleased to hear that your tour manager and local guides looked after you so well. Your comments regarding the restaurants are disappointing as we do appreciate that dining is an important part of the overall experience. These will be passed to our products team for their information and review. We do hope that you will still consider us for your future travel plans, Best Wishes, Deb Titan Travel

Titan Rockies Grand Circle tour

The tour did everything described in the brochure, the hotels were mostly excellent, Rocky Mountaineer brilliant, the coach and driver superb, well lead by Alex, a very knowledgeable and helpful tour guide. It didn't all go to plan but we made up for that by all the wildlife we saw; breathtakingly beautiful, as was the scenery and many landscapes we went through. The hotels were all very lovely and each one was the same standard throughout, apart from the Lobstick Lodge Hotel we went with Titan 20 years ago, tired looking then and even more so now. What is disappointing are the tours cancelled; the Spirit Island cruise, which was too early to run in the season, also the cablecar in Whistler. We really should have had more time at Mt. Robson, Maligne Lake (half a day) and Lake Louise. We only had short stops. Also too much time, for us, in Vancouver. Why does Titan advertise these tours knowing it's too early in the season? They should schedule the holiday a bit later when all the tours are up and running. Air Canada made a mess of seat allocation for everyone both ways! The luggage movements throughout and travel arrangements to and from the airport were perfect.

Lack of information regards possible…

Lack of information regards possible extension Phoned to make a booking on a Nile trip three weeks ago tomorrow and asked for cost of an extension at the end of the holiday- as advertised as possible I am still waiting, have phoned three times and very nice folks who replied could not help me and said they were waiting for the information. I have not travelled with Titan before but this does not fill me with a huge amount of confidence

Hi, Thanks for sharing your review. We're really sorry to read about your disappointment with the booking process. We understand that our sales managers are aware of your booking and are working to find a resolution. They will be in touch with you directly to confirm your requests. We do hope that despite these issues, you have a great holiday, Best Wishes, Deb Titan Travel

first holiday in a long…

This is my first holiday in a long time! So I decided to book through a travel agent. The service from the titan rep via the travel agent was excellent. (The phone was on loud speaker during the booking process). The titan rep came across very skilled, answering questions and sorting out queries quickly. From first picking up the brochure, through to booking I feel this is a very professional company. My experience has left me feeling I have definitely picked the right firm to go with.

Hi Kyle, Thanks for taking the time to share your review. We're delighted to hear that our agents have been able to help you confirm your booking and we hope you have a wonderful holiday, Best Wishes, Deb Titan Travel

Good and interesting trip

Good and interesting trip. Felt a bit rushed at times, especially in Instanbul. An extra day there would have been beneficial. Also would have like more time at Gallipoli/Anzac. Feel Titan should include more detail in their brochure regarding how much walking and steps involved in Instanbul. Level 2 is not enough as have done 2 trips at that level with ease. Our guide, Serhat, and driver, Ali, were both excellent. The visit to the village and lunch with local families were a highlight and excellent. Unfortunately, felt boat trip in Instanbul not value for money, and would not recommend.

Date of experience : 15 May 2024

Hi Marguerita, Thanks for sharing your feedback for your recent trip. We're so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your experience and that Serhat, Ali and the team did a great job. The Jewels of Spain

The Jewels of Spain, solo tour. I really enjoyed the level of exploration with rest days with optional activities. Karen was our excellent tour manager and was always available. The hotels were comfortable and the food was varied and plentiful. The door to door service took the anxiety out of travel. Thank you, I am looking forward to my next adventure.

Hi Gillian, Thanks for taking the time to share your review of your recent trip to Spain. We're delighted to hear that you had such a great time and that Karen and the team did such a great job. We also look forward to you joining us again for another Titan adventure, Best Wishes, Deb Titan Travel

Highs and lows

Hotel in ideal position for walking along the Turia. València is a wonderful destination and our experience was enhanced with the help of our guide Jack. Clean hotel, pleasant staff. Ruined by dreadful food in the evening . Last evening, cold fish soup. Not a vegetable in sight, highly salted, large lumps of brown meat and thin dry fried potatoe. Alternative a plate of bitter salad leaves with dry chicken scattered on top. Pudding cold custard with a biscuit balanced on top. Fortunately discovered a nearby restaurant Roma where we could purchase edible food at a reasonable price. Not good enough Titon, food is important toward a holiday.

Hi Margaret, Thanks for sharing your review. We're really sorry to hear about your disappointment in the food served on this trip, as we appreciate that dining is an important part of the overall holiday experience. We have passed your comments on to our Customer Relations team who will investigate the issues you have raised and contact you directly to address your concerns. We do hope that you will still consider us for your future travel plans, Best Wishes, Deb Titan Travel

Jewels of spain…

Our saga host Karen was absolutely amazing. She kept everything running smoothly and help was on hand always. Hotels were pretty good. Only slight observation the last Hotel Salobrena was inaccessible to beach/promenade because of location high on clifftop.

Hi, Thanks for sharing your review. It sounds like you had a great time with Karen and the team. We appreciate your comments regarding the hotel, we will pass these on to our products team for their information and review. I have used Titan before and enjoyed their tours. On this occasion they offered a two country option which we wanted. They were friendly and helpful assisting with flight options and costs so that we could make a quick decision.

A truly great holiday.

Our whole trip from collection from home to returning home was very well organised. On board the crew were very helpful and worked so hard. Bobby was outstanding and helped make the holiday and became a friend. The whole cruise experience was more than we imagined and we will book again. The NJ Amorena was a stunning ship and well maintained with only 7 crew.

The holiday that never was!

We were looking to travel to Nepal and India with Titan travel. We liased with our tour operator and went in to book our trip for the dates advertised in April 2025. After all our efforts we were to be told that Titan had pulled the April dates despite still being shown on their website and brouchure. No explanation was given by Titan. Unreliable and disappointing , wont consider Titan again. Trailfinders is far more reliable

Hi Matt, We are so sorry to hear about your experience and disappointment that your holiday didn't go ahead. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback which we can assure you has been passed to the relevant teams. Day-by-day itinerary

titan travel grand tour of italy

Board your overnight flight to Milan today.

Take a deep respiro, or breath—you’re in Italy! After arriving in Milan, you’ll transfer to your hotel in the Lake Como region. Relax and unpack before meeting your Tour Director and fellow travelers for a welcome dinner served with beer or wine.

Start the day with a visit to Villa Carlotta, a lush botanical garden and art museum with striking, sparkling views of Lake Como. Built at the end of the 17th century by the marquises Clerici of Milan, it boasts fragrant rose gardens, splashy azalea bushes, and a pair of citrus-rimmed tunnels that date to the first occupants of the villa.

Afterward, you can choose to return to your hotel and unwind, or do some solo exploration. Alternatively, take to the glittering waters of Lake Como by adding a scenic cruise to your itinerary. You’ll float by some of Italy’s most sumptuous residences and gardens, and stop in the village of Bellagio for good measure.

Please note: From November through March, an ascent by funicular to the village of Brunate will replace the visit to Villa Carlotta—another breathtaking way to take in a panoramic view of Lake Como and the Alps

It’s easy to fall in love in, and with, Verona and its maze of ancient Romanesque, Gothic, and Byzantine architecture tucked into the bends of the Adige River. No wonder it served as the backdrop for Romeo and Juliet . Join your Tour Director for a walk through this UNESCO-recognized city center.

  • Imagine your own “Oh, Romeo, Romeo” moment with a visit to Casa di Giulietta, site of the famous balcony built in honor of Shakespeare’s tale of the ill-fated lovers.
  • Soak in the history in the oldest square in Verona, Piazza delle Erbe, then enjoy some free time to explore the less crowded Gothic architecture of Piazza Dante—named for Italian poet Dante Alighieri of The Divine Comedy fame.
  • Marvel at the grandeur of the 2,000-year-old Verona Arena, still in use today, whose pink and white stones have stood witness to gladiator shows, opera productions, and modern concerts.
  • Enjoy free time to explore Verona on your own.

Continue to Venice where you’ll wind down the day with your fellow travelers over an included dinner served with beer or wine.

Surrender to the beauty of Venice’s labyrinthine canals, elegant bridges, and ornate Gothic and Renaissance architecture. Close your eyes and let the sound of lapping water and the passing gondolas soothe you, but not for too long—there’s so much to see! You’ll meet up with your local guide and explore the heart of Venice on foot and by vaporetto, or water taxi.

  • Feel the energy of St. Mark’s Square, with its thriving cafes and sumptuous buildings, and marvel at St. Mark’s Basilica.
  • See the Bridge of Sighs, named after the suggestion that prisoners would sigh at their final view of their beloved Venice through the window before being taken down to their cells in the New Prisons.
  • Watch a Murano glass blowing demonstration where artisans keep the Venetian glasswork tradition alive. Observe as they skillfully use the distinctive millefiori technique—where intricate patterns are created by fusing together tiny glass rods.

Spend a free afternoon exploring Venice’s canals or add an excursion.

Please note: On some departures travelers may enter St. Mark's Basilica after the sightseeing tour based on ticket time availability.

Florence was the beating heart of the Renaissance period and is the final resting place of luminaries such as Galileo, Michelangelo, and Machiavelli.

  • Beginning in 2025, U.S. and Canadian passport holders must register for an ETIAS travel authorization in order to enter many European countries.
  • Passport holders from over 60 visa-exempt countries (including the U.S. and Canada) will need to apply for an ETIAS travel authorization in order to visit 30 European countries. That means that even if you’ve previously traveled to any of these European countries without a visa, starting in 2025, you’ll need to get ETIAS authorization to visit them again. If you’re traveling to multiple countries with this requirement, you only need to complete the form once. All Go Ahead travelers are responsible for obtaining their own ETIAS travel authorization before departure. For more details, please visit our Help Center .
  • If you are not a U.S. or Canadian citizen, you must contact your destination country’s consulate for your specific entry requirements.
  • You can see the most up-to-date entry requirements for the destination(s) you’ll visit on tour by going to goaheadtours.com/entry-requirements and searching the code MIT.
  • Round-trip flights booked through Go Ahead Tours arrive in Milan (Malpensa) airport and depart from Rome.
  • Transfers to and from the airport at your destination are included for travelers who have purchased their flights through Go Ahead Tours. Travelers who purchase their own flights may request airport transfers with Go Ahead Tours for an additional cost if they are arriving or departing on the standard day.
  • When you arrive in Milan, a Go Ahead representative will be waiting for you in the arrivals hall with a Go Ahead sign or a sign with your name(s). If you don’t see a representative immediately, please be patient and stay in the arrivals area. They may be assisting another traveler who has also just arrived and will be back shortly.
  • Please note that the transfer between Milan Malpensa airport and your hotel in the Lake Como region is typically more than an hour drive. Please contact us with any questions regarding this transfer.

  • Venice and Northern Italy are known for flavorful meats and pastries.
  • Tuscany is world-famous for its wine, oil, sauces, and pasta. Menus favor subtle, lighter pastas and desserts made with nuts, fruit, and honey. Try a dish featuring the region’s Chianina beef, perhaps the most prized breed of cattle in all of Italy. For wine, popular Tuscan reds include Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino, and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, which are primarily made from the Sangiovese grape. Well-known white wines are also made around the San Gimignano region.
  • In Umbria, don’t miss sampling both the reds and whites produced around Orvieto and Perugia.
  • The cuisine of Southern Italy is often what diners think of when imagining Italian flavors—pasta with tomato sauces, olives and olive oil, zucchini, veal, and fish are all featured prominently on menus throughout the region.

  • You can use most debit/credit cards at ATMs on the international networks Cirrus and Plus, but make sure to check with your home bank about withdrawal fees.

In addition, the team is dedicated to supporting and facilitating communication between travelers and families in the event of an emergency while on the road or at home.
  • Italy is 1 hour ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) and 6 hours ahead of Eastern Time (ET).

That’s because our three core Responsible Travel commitments—protecting the environment, supporting local communities, and promoting animal welfare—are at the heart of every tour we offer.
  • Travel, when done responsibly, can make an enormous socio-economic impact to communities. To maximize your impact, eat at locally owned restaurants and shop at local businesses. Ask your Tour Director to point out restaurants they recommend.
  • Prepare for your trip: be aware of the monetary norms such as tipping and negotiating in a market, learn about the destination’s forms of etiquette, and take some time to learn a few words in the local language.
  • When interacting with locals, make sure to ask people for permission before you take their picture, and approach cultural differences with empathy and an open mind.
  • EF Go Ahead Tours encourages our travelers to limit their waste while on the road, especially single use plastics. You can avoid single use plastics by packing your own toiletries, using electronic documents, and bringing a reusable water bottle and shopping bag. If you need to use plastics or paper, please recycle.
  • Environment: On this tour, we recommend the use of a reusable water bottle, as the local drinking water is safe for travelers. Your Tour Director can provide additional guidance on local water standards. Make sure to bring a reusable water bottle to cut down on single use plastics.
  • If you are interested in visiting any of Florence's many museums during your free time, we recommend that you make reservations in advance. See uffizi.org for the Uffizi Gallery or accademia.org for the Accademia Gallery. Please note that the museums are closed on Mondays.

Day 1 UK - Venice

Your all-out Italian adventure is about to begin! After flying to Venice, we’ll drive you to your first hotel in Preganziol. A converted 19th-century villa surrounded by gardens, it’s a lovely place to relax and unwind after your journey. Once you’ve settled in, we'll get together for a buffet-style welcome dinner, which features food typical of the Veneto region.

Day 2 Venice

Today's the day you'll get to explore the floating city of Venice. We will begin our journey by coach and then board a boat to take us across the lagoon into the city. Our guided walking tour starts in St Mark’s Square, where the famous Doge’s Palace and magnificent St Mark’s Basilica are located. We’ll wander the maze of narrow streets and alleyways, see the picture-perfect Rialto Bridge, and climb the spiral stairs of Scala Contarini del Bovolo to admire spectacular views over the rooftops of Venice. Now that you’ve got your bearings, you’re free to discover more of the city at your leisure. Go for a stroll and find an inviting café, step inside one, or more, of the historic buildings or browse a local food market – the options are endless.

This evening, after you’ve had time to freshen up, we’re going to head to the beautiful town of Treviso. With its cobbled streets and medieval walls, it has a lovely, relaxed vibe and you’ll have some free time to enjoy dinner and a glass or two of Prosecco here if you would like.

Day 3 Bologna - Montecatini

This morning we'll head off into northern Italy and Tuscany's glorious countryside. Our journey takes us through Bologna, where we'll stop and join a Local Guide for a sightseeing tour. The city is known for its two leaning towers and the central square, Piazza Maggiore, is lined by impressive buildings including the Basilica of San Petronio, a vast Gothic cathedral. Our tour ends with a tasting of delicious ice cream at the famous Sorbetteria Castiglione and then you will have some free time. Why not head to the Quadrilatero and browse Italy’s oldest market. Wander the narrow streets and discover aroma-filled shops and stalls selling a tempting array of local meats and cheeses, homemade pasta, and freshly baked bread. This evening we’ll reach Montecatini Terme, our base for the next three nights.

We’re going to spend the morning in Pisa, where you can take the obligatory photos of yourselves holding up the famous Leaning Tower! Standing 58 metres tall, the tower started to lean soon after construction started in the 12th century. It forms part of the city’s Field of Miracles, a lovely green space that is also home to the Cathedral, Baptistery and Monumental Cemetery. After your visit to Pisa, the rest of the day is yours to do as you please, or you may want to join an optional excursion to Lucca this afternoon. With its intact Renaissance city walls, narrow alleyways and pretty piazzas, this attractive city is a lovely place to wander around.

Day 5 Florence

Today, you'll visit the 'art city' of Florence for a tour with a Local Guide. You’ll see highlights including the vast Gothic cathedral with its white façade and red-roofed dome, and the striking Ponte Vecchio, Florence’s most famous bridge. We’ve left this afternoon free for you to make your own discoveries in Florence. Those who would like to see the remarkable collection of sculptures and paintings in the city’s renowned Uffizi Gallery can join an optional tour with 'skip-the-line' admission and guide.

This evening, there will be an opportunity to attend the Montecatini Opera Festival and enjoy a performance in one of the town’s atmospheric venues.

Day 6 Orvieto - Rome

We're heading south today, to the region of Lazio and Rome. We’ll make a stop at the impressive fortress town of Orvieto where you will have free time to look around. Admire the spectacular cathedral with its ornately decorated façade and stroll through the winding streets of the town’s historic centre before finding the perfect spot for a coffee. You could also take a tour of the Orvieto Underground, a series of caves used as refrigerators, wine cellars and even bomb shelters during the Second World War.

Later we’ll continue our journey to the awe-inspiring city of Rome and after settling in at the hotel, we’ll head to a nearby restaurant for dinner.

Let's set off and explore the magnificent sights of Rome on a guided walking tour. You’ll see the stunning Trevi Fountain with its ornate Baroque statues, and another unmissable highlight, the beautiful Spanish Steps. If you decide to climb this sweeping 18th-century stairway, you’ll be rewarded with fabulous views over the city.

This afternoon is yours to do as you please. You could step inside some of the city’s museums, art galleries or churches, or just while away the time people watching in the magnificent Piazza Navona, an elegant square with attractive fountains.

The evening has also been left free for you to check out Rome’s tempting array of cafés, bars, restaurants, and ice cream parlours. Your Holiday Director will be on hand if you need some advice and recommendations.

Day 8 Rome - at Leisure

Today you can head out and explore Rome independently. Perhaps you’ll choose to step inside the mighty Colosseum, where Roman gladiators battled in front of jeering crowds. Another option is to visit the Roman Forum, a fascinating complex of ruins that once formed the centre of Ancient Rome.

If you would like to visit the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel, you have the option of pre-booking an exclusive skip-the-line, two-hour guided visit with timed admission. During the tour, you will see the Vatican’s extensive collection of centuries-old artwork and learn about the history and symbolism of some of its masterpieces. Inside the Sistine Chapel, there is time to admire spectacular frescoes and marvel at the exquisite beauty of Michelangelo’s ceiling.

You have another chance to soak up Rome’s unique atmosphere tonight with another evening at leisure.

Day 9 Pompeii - Sorrento Peninsula

A full day of exploration begins with a visit to the Montecassino Abbey. Sitting on a hilltop overlooking the town of Cassino, it’s an imposing sight, and you’ll have time to admire the views and wander around independently. Next, we arrive at the ruins of Pompeii and after free time for lunch, we’ll meet up with a Local Guide for our walking tour. Sharing their knowledge, they will help us explore this remarkable city that was buried under a blanket of ash when Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79AD. We’ll step back in time and imagine what life was like for the people who lived here and see some of Pompeii’s best sites. These include villas decorated with frescoes, the Temple of Apollo, the Forum and even a bakery.

Later, we'll arrive at the scenic Sorrento Peninsula, where our hotel for the next three nights is centrally located in the town of Vico Equense.

Day 10 Sorrento Peninsula - at Leisure

After a few busy days of sightseeing, today you can relax at your hotel. It has a private beach with chairs and umbrellas, the perfect place to relax with a good book.

If you want to continue exploring, an optional excursion takes you on a boat trip across the Bay of Naples to the glamorous island of Capri. We’ll begin by exploring Capri Town and the hillside village of Anacapri on a guided tour, and then you will have free time to do your own thing. Perhaps take the chair lift to the highest point on the island for spectacular sweeping views or while away the time in the exclusive boutiques of Capri village.

Day 11 Sorrento Peninsula - at Leisure

Enjoy some time to yourself today. The elegant town of Sorrento, with its enticing cafés and restaurants, is a short train ride away, or if you prefer, you can simply relax at the hotel.

There is also the chance to discover the beauty of the Amalfi Coast on today’s optional excursion. It begins with a stunning drive along twisting clifftop roads and the opportunity to admire breathtaking views of the dramatic landscape. You’ll want to have your camera at the ready to capture pictures of steep cliffs plunging into the sea, and picture-perfect villages clinging to the hillside. Next, we’ll visit the beautiful town of Amalfi, where you’ll have free time to explore. Look out for the impressive cathedral, set at the top of a grand stairway, and make time for a spot of lunch if you wish. We’ll then drive high up the cliffs to Ravello, a town perched above Amalfi with sensational views of the Tyrrhenian Sea. With time to make your own discoveries, you might choose to visit the gardens of Villa Rufolo, where colourful displays of flowers are set against a backdrop of Moorish architecture. Another option is to explore Ravello’s town centre, the main square is home to an interesting cathedral and an array of cafés serving delicious coffee and ice cream.

Day 12 Pizzo Calabro - Sicily

We're leaving mainland Italy now, and heading to Sicily, the island off the tip of Italy’s boot. On the way, we'll stop for lunch in Calabria and then a short ferry ride takes us to Messina, with an onward drive to our final hotel in Giardini Naxos.

Day 13 Taormina

Taormina sits on a sheer cliff, perched above beautiful beaches and close to Mount Etna. Imagine the views you'll see today when we head there to explore. The city’s highlights include an ancient Greek amphitheatre overlooking Mount Etna and a delightful public garden with sensational views of the shimmering sea. With plenty of free time to make your own discoveries in Taormina, why not a stroll along the pretty main street Corso Umberto or head to Piazza IX Aprile, a lovely café-lined square.

Dinner will be served in the hotel’s restaurant this evening.

Day 14 Giardini Naxos - at Leisure

It’s the last full day of your holiday, so why not relax and enjoy the inviting pool at your hotel. Alternatively, having gazed at Mount Etna from afar, maybe now's the time to see Europe's highest volcano close up on our optional excursion. You’ll travel by cable car to a height of around 2,500 metres and then head off on a 16-seater jeep adventure with an Alpine Guide for amazing views of the crater area.

At your hotel tonight, we'll get together to enjoy a farewell drink in the bar.

Day 15 Catania - UK

After a fabulous two weeks, your epic Italian journey comes to an end. We’ll take you to Sicily's Catania airport, where you’ll check in for your return flight to the UK.

Recently returned from the great....

Recently returned from the great Indian rail journey. My wife and I could hardly believe the value for money. From pick ups from Durham to Heathrow and back,to the number of coach and train journeys , quality hotels, great choice of food throughout and our first night in Heathrow Hilton. What really made our trip a success was our guide, Prashant, who managed a party of twenty four very varied, sometimes a little unpredictable travellers with ease.Nothing was too much trouble for him and as a group we gelled and warmed to Prashant as he kept us safe, well informed and a little entertained by his mix of authority and humanity.Where do I begin with the tour itself ? India,a country of extremes.Poverty,wealth,order,chaos.Sometimes bleak, often breathtakingly beautiful. The people, the cities, art, architecture, flaura and fauna.Delhi,Jaipur, Amritsar,Agra, Ranthambore, Chandigarh and the icing on the cake that is Shimla. An absolute masterclass of man versus nature, the railway and buildings are an unbelievable feat, but wait until you see the dual carriageway being built on the mountainside.🤯I could go on for a very long time but I'll just post some photos. Thanks to Titan, thanks to the excellent Prashant and and a massive thanks to the other twenty two travellers who helped shape our holiday of a lifetime.🏁💜

I have booked the Icelandic...

I have booked the Icelandic Adventure holiday with Titan Travel, the Booking Staff was pleasant throughout. What I love about Titan Travel, transfer from your home to the airport and vice versa is included in the holiday.

Danube cruise was great value....

Danube cruise was great value. Well organised. Clear instructions from Titan prior to travel. Door to door service great.

Exceptional trip and service by Titan

Just returned from a fabulous tour of California & the golden west. It’s a full on tour with early starts but you see so much varied landscape from the ocean to the desert to Yosemite. My 2nd tour with Titan & my first solo tour. Thoroughly enjoyed it & met some great people. Grand Canyon was amazing would definitely recommend

Not merely a holiday, rather a memorable experience

I have used other travel operators; this was the 1st time of touring with Titan----Israel, The Holy Land, from being collected from home and returned at the end of the holiday this was an unforgettable experience; the Tour Manager, a PhD Archaeology made the whole tour so interesting, he enlightened us throughout each day from an historical, archeological and Biblical viewpoint, bringing each site we visited come to life, and went over and above his remit escorting us for evening trips around the local area; thanks also to our very patient driver who coped with the very busy traffic; our hotels were good, professional and pleasant staff and really good food; I would recommend Titan to anyone looking for a fascinating tour with excellent efficient service thank you Titan nor just for a holiday for a memorable experience

We had a 2 weeks...

We had a 2 weeks fantastic holiday arranged by Titan to Vietnam and Cambodia. Excellent, well organised Throughly enjoyed. Very good service by Vietnam Airlines, if you could afford book it in premium economy. We had a door to door service , picked up to airport from home and then dropped at home from airport, very convinient. Particular credit goes to our guide THI who is a caring, knolegeable, friendly down to earth man who made our trip a memorable one. I will not hesitate to book another holiday through Titan, their staff are friendly and helpful

We had a fantastic holiday...

We had a fantastic holiday in Mississippi. Right from our chauffeur driven car picking us up to the return journey, we had a great time. The first hotel The Gaylord was amazing, absolutely huge, first class. The second The Double tree in Memphis unfortunately wasn't, the hotel was tired and very basic, the only plus was where it is situated in the centre of town, we were only there two nights so it wasn't to bad. The American Queen Steam Boat was first class all the way, thoroughly enjoyed the seven nights sailing down the Mississippi. The last hotel the Sheraton New Orleans was very comfortable too. Our guide throughout our time away was Laura Tuttle. she was amazing, very knowledgeable, and helpful. We also had a coach driver Guil, who went over and beyond to give you the best time. Other coach guides included Jim,who was so funny, and also very knowledgeably. Very entertaining throughout. The entire itinerary itinerary was very well thought out, included a huge variety of visits to different Interesting locations. Highly recommend using Titan for all your holiday destinations.

Perfect Italian Holiday…

Just returned from a lovely week in Sorrento at the Grand Hotel Hermitage, we had an excellent guide Peter Macchristopher. we loved the hotel the staff were very nice especially in the dining rooms, the food was good and the room we had was really nice with a wonderful view. Altogether very good value holiday.we felt the trip to Pompei was very good also boat trip to Amalfi. I would recommend a walk to the village of St Agatha and a three hour ride on the Little Blue Train. Great fun.this can be booked at reception.

THE GREAT INDIAN RAIL JOURNEY!!!!...

THE GREAT INDIAN RAIL JOURNEY!!!! (Dreadful) Avoid Titan and Saga at all costs. False descriptions of the tour and dreadful administration Returned to the UK last evening with a great sigh of relief after the worst holiday ever. 1. No block booking of airplane seats by Titan. (Husband and I sat apart on the long, overnight flight) 2. Unable to pre-book seats as Titan reference numbers did not coincide with anything. 3. Husband and I not sat together on any of the train journeys! In fact, on one occasion I was sat, alone on a sleeper carriage, a couple of carriages away from the rest of the group who were scattered over two or three carriages. Terrifying as a female to be sat alone in the midst of noisy locals!!!!! (Eventually the guide, Rahi, did come to rescue me and found a seat near the main group) 4. The guide, Rahi, would usually get off the coach and begin walking off without waiting for all the group to disembark the coach. (Spot the guide in the crowd!) 5. The guide, Rahi, refused to use any identifying prop such as a flag, hat, jacket or umbrella. Frightening to be in the manic crowds of Delhi and other crowded places to be unable to see the guide. 6. NO AUDIO HEADSET system on any excursion 7. The guide, Rahi, didn’t face the whole group, but stood sideways on and was unable to be heard by the majority. 8. OUTRAGEOUS behaviour by the guide when he enquired as to the whereabouts of my husband, whom I explained was in bed with an upset stomach and was feeling unwell. Rahi DID A REVERSE AIR PUNCH😳😳. This was in response to an earlier conversation when my husband had complained about our separate seating arrangements. TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL 9. When we arrived at Heathrow to find our aircraft seats were not allocated, we were advised to speak to our guide on arrival at Delhi. Rahi merely shrugged his shoulders and said he couldn’t do anything. 10. Tour pace incorrect - gruelling pace and only half a day relaxation due to the guide, Rahi, throwing in visits to shops and factories fie him to earn his commission as I head him tell another!!!!!!! 11. When off loaded the return flight due to illness, we were unable to get in contact with Titan/Saga. Left in Delhi without an hotel or flight!!! Found accommodation but didn’t remove shoes or clothes due to the poor standard. Final summary: Poor, disappointing, inefficient, incompetent, misleading, misrepresentations, are just a few words to describe.

Luxury VIP door to door...

Luxury VIP door to door travel! I don't think so....Titan sent a Toyota Prius uber to Stanstead for a return journey to Newport, S Wales. 4 adults plus luggage! the experience was anything but luxurious. Contacted Titan on the return journey and since return. They simply didn't seem interested and offered us a £300 travel discount off a future trip! After a lot of emails they converted it to a £300 cash refund. Give it a lot of thought before booking !

Compare Grand Tour of Italy by Titan Travel

Compare details and see what other travelers are saying.

Day 1 London - Venice Titan’s VIP door-to-door travel service collects you from home, for your journey to London Gatwick Airport for a direct, scheduled British Airways flight to Venice. On arrival, we transfer to the Villa Pace Park Hotel Bolognese (4T) in Treviso, an attractive town in the Veneto region, in close proximity to Venice.

Day 2 Venice Today we enjoy an included excursion into Venice, where our guided walk takes us to the main sights, including the Piazza San Marco and the Bridge of Sighs. Afterwards, you are free to explore independently and a return coach transfer to your hotel will be provided for convenience. Or join an optional afternoon excursion to the Doge’s Palace.

Day 3 Venice Spend today at leisure or join an optional excursion to Padua and Vicenza, including entrance to the Olympic Theatre in Vicenza. Designed by Andrea Palladio in the 16th century, it is the oldest surviving indoor theatre in Europe. The old university town of Padua, in the Veneto region, is rich in art and architecture. Perhaps visit the Basilica di Sant’Antonio to see the wonderful artwork, including the reliefs by Donatello, or have a morning coffee in the historic Caffe Pedrocchi. In Vicenza, join a guided walk to see the highlights of this great Palladian city, one of the wealthiest in Veneto.

Day 4 Venice - Ferrara - Bologna - Montecatini Terme Leave the Veneto region and travel into Emilia Romagna, en route to Tuscany, visiting Ferrara and Bologna along the way. Ferrara is one of the greatest walled cities in Italy and the medieval ruling D’Este family left a beautiful legacy in its Renaissance buildings - the D’Este court once hosted artists such as Titian and Bellini, and writers, including Petrarch. Bologna is renowned for its food and fine dining; and there are impressive red-brick buildings and the ancient university in the medieval centre. Later, we transfer to Montecatini Terme for a three-night stay at the Grand Hotel Francia & Quirinale (4T) or Grand Hotel Vittoria (4T), with dinner included on two nights.

Day 5 Florence We have a full-day included excursion to Florence today, travelling by train from Montecatini to this beautiful art city. A guided walking tour will show you the highlights and includes entrance to the Basilica di Santa Croce, the burial place of some of the most eminent Italians, including Michelangelo, Galileo, Machiavelli, and Rossini. Brunelleschi and Vasari were involved in the architectural design of the basilica.

Day 6 Pisa - Lucca Another great full-day included excursion awaits you today, to Pisa and Lucca, where we have included entrances to some of the monuments in Miracle Square, Pisa - a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Leaning Tower of Pisa is considered to be the bell tower of the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta. In the walled medieval town of Lucca, we take a guided walk to the Piazza del Mercato, an area once occupied by a Roman amphitheatre. Today’s archways around the square are where the Romans drove the gladiators and beasts into the ancient arena.

Day 7 Montecatini Terme - Siena - Wine Tasting - Rome Spend the morning exploring Siena independently. Red-gold terracotta buildings are grouped into the 17 ‘contrade’ or parishes, whose intense historic rivalry culminates in the bi-annual ‘palio’ horserace, around the stunning fan-shaped Piazza del Campo. We continue towards Rome, stopping on the way in one of the best wine-growing areas of Tuscany. We enjoy an included wine tasting and in the late afternoon we arrive in Rome and check in at the Starhotels Michelangelo (4T) or similar for a three-night stay, with dinner included tonight.

Day 8 Rome A superb excursion to Rome today, which includes a guided walk and entrance to the Colosseum; Rome’s magnificent icon and venue of brutal gladiatorial games.

Day 9 Rome Spend today at leisure or join an optional morning excursion to Tivoli, for entrance to Villa d’Este, a remarkable, UNESCO-listed Italian garden of fountains, nymphs and grottoes which has inspired Europe since the 16th century.

Day 10 Rome - Caserta - Naples We check out of our hotel and journey to Naples. One of the oldest continuously-inhabited cities in the world, it can be traced back to the Bronze Age and is home to a wealth of churches, castles and museums. At Caserta we have an included tour of the Royal Palace - the Reggia - an 18th century Baroque palace, which is now UNESCO World Heritage-listed. On arrival in Naples, we check in at the UNA Hotel Napoli (4T) or Hotel Terminus (4T), for a two-night stay, with dinner included tonight.

Day 11 Pompeii - Sorrento Today, we have included a guided tour of Pompeii. This wealthy town was buried in AD 79 by a massive eruption of Mount Vesuvius and frozen in time. In the afternoon enjoy some free time in Sorrento - a small and pretty town on the Gulf of Naples.

Day 12 Naples - Paestum - Giardini Naxos, Sicily Today we transfer to Sicily. This is a long, but rewarding, travelling day which takes us from Naples, the capital of Campania, through Calabria - the ‘toe’ of Italy - right down to Sicily (part of Italy but with a great history and culture, all of its own). After leaving Naples, enjoy a stop at the wonderful Greek temples in Paestum, which are perhaps the best preserved of their kind outside Greece. Next, there will be a visit to a mozzarella producer, for a tasting of this delicious buffalo milk cheese. You may see some of the buffalo herds along the way, before reaching Reggio di Calabria for the short sea crossing to Messina. From here we transfer to Giardini Naxos and the Hotel Sant’Alphio Garden (4T), for a three-night stay. Dinner is included here each night.

Day 13 Giardini Naxos After your long transfer day, relax and spend today at leisure.

Day 14 Giardini Naxos Spend another day enjoying your surroundings or join a full-day optional excursion to Mount Etna and then Taormina, where there will be a guided walk and entrance to the ancient Greek theatre, which sits in its splendid elevated position with glorious views.

Day 15 Giardini Naxos - Acireale - Catania - London After free time this morning, we depart for our journey home, stopping en route in the coastal Baroque town of Acireale. There will be some time to independently explore; perhaps visit the basilica of St Peter or St Sebastian. We continue to Catania Airport for a direct, scheduled British Airways flight to London Gatwick. On arrival you will be met and guided to your Titan vehicle, for the journey home.

‘Grand Tour’ Review: Miguel Gomes’ Dreamy, Delirious Time-Swirling Travelogue Through East and Southeast Asia

Bristling with life and song and revelatory collisions between cultures and timeframes, the Portuguese master's Cannes Competition title is a healing balm for trying times.

2024 emmy nominations need to bless the creator economy’s best, dolly parton hails beyoncé's version of 'jolene' as 'bold,' says she would duet with her at the grammy awards, popular on variety.

All we know is that, when this low-level British diplomat (who, like all the British characters, whether they hail from London or pine for Yorkshire, speaks in Portuguese) shows up at Mandalay train station, it is 1918, near midnight and he is drunk. The next day, when he goes to pick Molly up from her arriving steamship, his nerve suddenly fails, and before he even claps eyes on her, he scarpers onto the next ship bound for Singapore.

This is the story of “Grand Tour,” but it is not the half of “Grand Tour.” From the beginning, Gomes’ eccentric, puckish sensibilities are in evidence, with every beautifully rendered black-and-white, period-set interior alternating with bustling, bristling contemporary footage of the various towns and countries featured. Between 1918 and now, some of them have changed their names — Burma is now Myanmar, Siam is now Thailand — but none have changed their spirit, a fact that the seemingly reckless but actually deceptively meticulous construction makes clear.

Sometimes in color, sometimes in monochrome, with the narrators speaking the local lingo and knitting Edward and Molly’s colonial-era stories into the Asia of today, we get gorgeous on-the-fly snapshots of modern life across the continent. A rickety Rangoon ferris wheel propelled by hand (and foot). Workers untangling the wires atop Saigon’s overloaded telephone poles. Old Chinese men playing mahjong; Filipino locals riding tuktuks; Lunar New Year fireworks exploding over the Saigon skyline; a portly man in a restaurant moving himself to tears with his karaoke rendition of “My Way” before returning to his noodles, dabbing at wet eyes.

The film also has a recurring motif in the puppet shows that seemingly every culture has developed, and developed differently, as a storytelling medium. There are marionettes and paper silhouettes and two-person representations of — are they turkeys? Ostriches? Who knows? But that we always see the puppeteers as much as we see their puppets seems appropriate to the sense we get, throughout this overflowing cornucopia of worldly pleasures, of a single intelligence, a particular curiosity and a uniquely skewed sense of humor unifying so much that, in our darker moods, might seem actually to divide us.

Gomes shot this extraordinary film in an extraordinary way. Hampered by Covid-era restrictions, a lot of the modern footage — credited to three cinematographers in Rui Poças, Sayombhu Mukdeeprom and Guo Liang — was directed remotely, while the period segments, whether in bamboo forests or Raffles Hotel or aboard a ship whose captain speaks in six different languages over the mooing of a cargo hold full of cows, were creations on a sound stage. But even aside from the occasional deliberate anachronism — like a cellphone dropped in a forest when Molly is on the verge of catching up to Edward — and despite the brash collisions of stock and style, and scripted fiction and found-footage reality, “Grand Tour” is a remarkably coherent, if richly complex experience.
