There’s a possibility you haven’t thought twice about tossing your shoes directly into your suitcase — but you should. Not only do shoe bags make for space-efficient and neat packing, but they also keep your clothes safe from dirt and grime from your shoe soles.

They’re great for travel and come in handy for other uses — tote your shoes in a gym bag or backpack, use for shoe storage, or even use as packing cubes.

If the idea of shoe bags is new to you, or if you’re in the market for new ones, you want to consider some key points before you purchase.

Shoe Bag Capacity

Travel shoe bags often come in multi-packs meant for single pairs of shoes but can also be larger duffle-style bags intended to accommodate a few different pairs. If you need multiple shoe options while traveling, get a shoe bag with multiple compartments .

For sunny destinations and beach vacations, a lightweight shoe bag that fits your walking shoes and a pair of sandals is perfect. If you’re traveling with minimal clothing or want ones you can use daily, simple shoe bags meant for 1 pair are probably the best fit.

Shoe bag Design

When purchasing a travel shoe bag, you want to look for a few features. Drawstring bags are the most basic of all, and bags with translucent mesh or transparent panels allow you to see the contents without opening them .

If you prefer zippers over drawstrings, ensure that they’re sturdy — and you may also like double-zippers or flat zippers. You might also choose a bag with a loop handle so you can carry it or hang it up.

Cleaning Requirements

This detail probably doesn’t dawn on many people, but it’s crucial for when your travel shoe bag inevitably gets grimy. Sure, they’re meant to get dirty, but you should clean them so that dirt doesn’t transfer to the next pair you put in.

Synthetic materials like nylon are really easy to clean. A damp cloth mostly removes mud or grime, and you can quickly wipe the bag dry. This type of material might take longer to clean and dry than bags made of cotton or other fabrics that aren’t waterproof or water-resistant.

Hot Tip: If you choose natural fibers, chances are you can just toss your bags in the washing machine for even easier cleaning.

Water Resistance

Shoe Bag Water Resistance

Many shoe bags are listed as water-resistant because their zippers or drawstrings aren’t waterproof, making them weak areas that could allow water in. However, water-resistant is still a win and keeps your shoes safe and dry.

The flip side is that they’ll also keep your belongings dry if your shoes had to be packed wet or muddy — especially practical if you’re traveling in the spring or fall months. Shoe bags are also handy for trapping odors, which is useful given how wet shoes can smell!

Size and Storability

Some people might be lucky enough to have lots of storage room for suitcases and bags — others, not so much. If your shoe collection requires a bigger travel shoe bag, and you have somewhere to store it, then that’s a great option.

If you only need one for 1 or 2 pairs at a time, live in a small apartment, or have minimal storage space, you may want soft-shell bags . What they lack in structure, they make up for in versatility, and you can fold many of them up to save space.

We’ve rounded up our top 12 travel shoe bags — check them out to see which one suits you best for your next big travel adventure or business trip.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size shoes fit in shoe bags.

Each shoe bag has different dimensions and will accommodate different sizes of shoes. Check the specifications to know what size of men’s and women’s shoes will fit in your bag.

Will all types of shoes fit in shoe bags?

Not all shoes are made equally so you’ll also have to consider this when looking at dimensions. Sandals, casual shoes, and regular sneakers are generally pretty safe bets. However, hi-top sneakers, winter boots, and wedge heels might require slightly bigger or wider travel shoe bags.

Do shoe bags really make a difference?

Absolutely. Just like packing cubes, travel shoe bags let you store your shoes in one designated spot without taking up valuable real estate in your bag. If you’re a seasoned traveler or backpacker, you’ll know the satisfaction of perfecting your packing game.

Are shoe bags multi-functional?

Yes. One of the great features of travel shoe bags is that you can use them for many different things, so they won’t just sit around taking up space when you’re not traveling. They can double as laundry bags, packing cubes, pouches, or permanent shoe storage bags in your closet at home.

10 Best Shoe Suitcases and Travel Bags for Multiple Shoes

Packing clothes for vacation is always a painstaking task, and shoes are often the worst part. Shoes are bulky and often smell bad, so they require a little bit more attention than the rest of your travel commodities.

What is a shoe bag?

Since packing shoes can be tricky, a shoe bag is typically a small, flat, rectangular bag with a thickly-padded interior. Most will have space for either one or two pairs of shoes, with a little wiggle room.

A packing cube for shoes is a small compressed bag designed to organize and compartmentalize footwear inside your luggage.

How to pick the right shoe travel bag

The key to organizing kicks in your luggage is having the right set of shoe bags and cases. There are three important qualities to look for: label, waterproof ability, and compression.

Labeled bags are important if you are packing multiple shoes. Waterproof fabric will protect your expensive shoes from moisture that can cause irreparable damage , and compression cubes are essential when you are packing shoes in with your clothes.

Compression packing cubes help seal the unpleasant shoe smell and ensure that the clothes inside your luggage will still be fresh and clean.

When you’re short on packing space, shoes are your worst enemies. They’re the most inefficient items to pack because they’re dirty, bulky, and heavy.

Don’t worry, though, because I’ll show you how to pack shoes in a suitcase for traveling efficiently and smoothly. (If you pack smart, you can save some money on check-in fees!) Ready to dig in? Here’s the best way to pack shoes.

Method 1: Soles to the Sides

shoes packed in a suitcase with soles to the sides

This technique is useful for packing at least two shoe pairs. You’ll get easy access to your shoes and have enough space left for other items. However, for this technique your suitcase should be packed full, so your shoes won’t move.

  • Lay your suitcase on the ground fully open.
  • Clean the dirt from your shoes and freshen them up with an air freshener.
  • Squeeze small items like socks, underwear, and belts inside your shoes.
  • Wrap each shoe in wrapping paper or inside of a bag to protect other items.
  • Start packing with your shoes by placing them with the soles touching any side of the main compartment.
  • Continue with the rest by placing each shoe separate from the other.
  • Now you’re left with the middle section of your suitcase open where you should pack all of your other items. Make sure to pack your case full so that your shoes stay fixed to the sides.

Also, if you’re in the need of a new suitcase, we recommend Travelpro. They’re extremely durable and will last years! I own the Travelpro Maxlite 5 carry-on and it hasn’t let me down once – it’s still going strong.

Method 2: Shoes down at the Bottom

shoes packed inside a suitcase at the bottom

This technique is useful for storing many pairs of shoes. The trick is to store the heaviest items (your shoes) at the bottom of your case, reducing the chance that your luggage could tip over.

  • Lay your luggage open on the floor.
  • Clean your shoes and freshen them up.
  • Socks and belts can be stored inside of your shoes to save some space.
  • Now wrap your shoes in wrapping paper or grocery bags by wrapping them in pairs. Make sure to pack each pair heel to toe, with the soles facing opposite directions. (Similar to storage in shoe boxes.)
  • Place your shoes at the bottom of your suitcase with one of the soles facing the bottom wall.
  • Next, continue with your other pairs, stacking them on top of each other. Make sure to fill the bottom part fully, so you’re left with the top part empty for all of your other items.
  • If there’s some space left between shoe pairs, you can squeeze in some t-shirts, socks, and underwear in the gaps.

Method 3: Packing Them in Your Zippered Compartments

packing shoes in the zipper compartment of a suitcase

This technique works only if you only pack two pairs of shoes, ideally a pair of sneakers and flip-flops. Furthermore, this technique offers the smoothest access to your shoes.

  • Start by placing your luggage open on the floor.
  • Clean your shoes.
  • Store socks, belts, and underwear in your shoes.
  • Wrap each shoe in a plastic bag to avoid making a mess.
  • Now place your shoes in the zippered compartments of your case.
  • If all of your pairs don’t fit, you can store the shoes that you will be using the most in the zippered compartment. Other pairs can be stored in the main compartment.
  • Fill the rest of the zippered compartment with smaller items that you need easy access to.

Tips on Saving Space When Packing Shoes

nike sports shoes filled with socks

If you’re tight on space, these tips might save you from some stress. I’ve personally gathered these tips over the years and some I’ve read on forums and travel guides.

  • Always wear your bulkiest shoes while boarding the airplane.
  • Smaller items should be stored in your shoes. (Also, between the gaps of your shoe pairs.) We always store your socks, underwear, and belts inside of your shoes.
  • Keep the soles of your shoes facing the walls of your suitcase. Not only does this save space, but you’ll have easier access to your shoes later as well.
  • Try to place your shoes near the bottom of the case because they’re heavy and will result in a more balanced suitcase (which makes it less likely to tip over.)
  • When storing your shoes in pairs, always place them feet to toe (just like in shoe boxes.) You’re left with a neat little rectangle that’s efficient for packing.
  • If you’re wrapping your shoes in a plastic bag, make sure to release most of the air out of the bag and tie it up. This makes your shoes close to vacuum-sealed and saves some space.

If you still can’t save enough space, consider investing in a luggage set. You’ll have three or four suitcases in different sizes that fit each occasion. Here I’ve compared the 8 best hardside luggage sets.

How to Pack High Heels

how to pack high heels in a suitcase

High-heels are pretty inefficient to pack, as you’re always left with some gaps near the sides. The trick is to fill those gaps with smaller items. Also, you should be careful not to damage them, as they’re pretty easy to break. Here’s how to pack high-heels efficiently:

  • Start by cleaning and freshening up your shoes because you will be storing things inside of them.
  • Next, roll up some socks or underwear and squeeze them in your shoes. This saves some space and keeps your high-heels from being squished.
  • Next, wrap each of your high heels in a plastic bag to protect other items from getting dirty.
  • Before packing your high-heels, fill up the bottom part of your case with some shirts, jeans, and other clothes.
  • Place your shoes inside of your suitcase near the bottom for a better balance. Make sure to place them sideways for better protection.
  • Now, you’re left with some gaps around the heels. Fill them up with t-shirts and tank tops to save some space.
  • Fill the rest of the case with other items.

Tips on Protecting Other Items

packing shoes in a tote bag

If you’re packing high heels, you can damage other items if you place them close enough to each other. Make sure to leave some distance between your DSLR and high heels to avoid unpleasant surprises. Just imagine how much your bag is tossed around by the airline employees when packing the plane. They can do some serious damage! Also, shoes are pretty nasty when it comes to packing. If you don’t take the time to wrap them up, your clothes will get dirty.

We like to wrap our shoes in either plastic grocery bags or tote bags. If you’re using a grocery bag, you can suck out most of the air and tie it up, making your shoes packed similar to a vacuum-sealed bag, for more efficient packing. Also, if you’re storing each shoe separately, those small transparent plastic bags are just the right size and take up almost no space. Lastly, make sure to place your shoes closer to the bottom of the case or near the walls. This helps your shoes to stay in place and keeps them from damaging other items.

How to Pack Shoes in a Suitcase Without Squishing Them

If you’re concerned about squishing your shoes, your first thought would be to put them in some kind of container. This way they’d be protected from airline damage and other items pressing against them. Is this the best way of going about it? Probably not, but a container takes up too much space, weight, and is pretty inefficient for packing. Instead, you should fill up your shoes with smaller items, like rolled-up socks and underwear. Make sure to fill them up tightly so other things won’t get smashed.

To protect your shoes, try packing some clothes around them, like t-shirts, tank tops, jackets, and socks. To avoid bending, try to place them with the sole facing the side of your suitcase, so they’re pressed straight against the wall. Alternatively, if you’re taking expensive dress shoes, you may want to use a  shoe tree to preserve your shoes. This replaces stuffing them with socks, as a shoe tree is better-shaped for dress shoes.

How to Pack Shoes in a Backpack

how to pack shoes in a backpack

First of all, make sure that you’re wearing your bulkiest shoes while boarding to save some space. You can store the rest of your pairs in your backpack. Generally, you shouldn’t be taking more than two pairs of shoes if you’re using a backpack, as you’re pretty limited on space.

Here’s how to pack shoes in a backpack:

  • Clean up your shoes before packing them.
  • Store rolled socks and underwear inside of your shoes.
  • Put your shoes in a bag to protect other items. Make sure to store each pair in a separate bag, packing them heel to toe with soles facing opposite directions. Also, try to suck out some air from the plastic bag and tie it for convenient packing.
  • Your shoes should be stored in the center of your backpack, as they’re pretty heavy and will result in a better-balanced backpack that is better for your back.
  • Fill the bottom 10 inches with clothes or other items that you won’t need easy access to.
  • Next, store your shoes in the middle part of your backpack.
  • Fill the top part with items that you need easy access to.

How to Pack Shoes in a Duffel Bag

Some airlines have recently introduced fees for using the overhead compartments. Yes, even for a carry-on! Although only a few airlines do this, other airlines could start this practice as well. So how can you avoid it? Use a duffle bag that you can store under the seat instead of a regular carry-on.

However, using a single duffle bag for your whole trip can be a challenge. You really should pack smart and think twice about what you’re taking when using a duffle bag. Some space can be saved by taking fewer pairs of shoes. If you’re packing your shoes in the duffle, you’re likely not staying for a long time anyway, so try not to pack more than one pair of shoes and wear the other pair.

First of all, start by cleaning up your shoes and packing them in a plastic bag or a tote bag. Make sure to store them heel to toe, similar to the placement that you would find in shoe boxes, to save up some space. Start by placing your shoes at the bottom of the duffle. Next, continue by packing the heaviest and largest items next to your shoes. Lastly, store the things that you need easy access to at the top.

How Many Pairs of Shoes Should You Take?

sports shoes, casual shoes, and flip-flops

Do you know how many should you should be bringing with you during trips? It depends on how long you’re staying, the weather, and your activities. However, when packing shoes, less is always better, as they’re inefficient to pack.

First of all, you should think about the weather. If you’re traveling to warmer climates, a pair of flip-flops or sandals are a must. They’re also easier to pack! The same goes for cold weather; you should be packing a pair of boots. Make sure to wear the boots on the airplane and pack your lighter pairs in the suitcase to save some space.

Next, think about your activities. Will you be exercising? What about hiking and walking long distances? Will you be attending a formal event?

As a rule of thumb, we rarely take more than three pairs of shoes.

  • The first pair is casual. A pair of sneakers works perfectly, as they look pretty casual yet are comfortable enough for everyday sightseeing.
  • The second one is either boots or sandals, depending on the climate.
  • For the third pair, we pack sports or hiking shoes. We run every other day, so sports shoes are a must for me.

If you’re doing mostly active stuff, consider leaving the casual shoes behind. Take sports/hiking shoes for your activities and flip-flops/sandals for sunbathing, swimming, etc.

Are shoes allowed in carry-on luggage?

Yes! There are no rules stating that you can’t pack shoes in your carry-on luggage. So if you want to travel light and only bring a carry-on, you will be able to pack the bare necessities and hop on a plane! The main thing you want to keep in mind is the weight limits for carry-ons.

Other tips for packing shoes in your luggage

  • Narrow down how many shoes you are bringing with you.
  • Consider buying a shoe deodorizer in order to keep your other items from taking on odors from your shoes.
  • A neat way to organize your shoes and keep everything else clean is to use travel shoe bags . Of course, you can just use plastic bags instead, but shoe bags are a more eco-friendly option.
  • Thoroughly clean your shoes before you pack them inside of your luggage.
  • Make sure that your shoes are packed in a way that leaves space for all of the items you will need to reach while traveling is at the top.
  • To avoid unnecessary issues with your carry-on, make sure you aren’t packing forbidden items. That way, you won’t have to repack after security goes through your items.

In the end, the most important thing you need to remember is to keep your shoes in such a way that you’re leaving room for your other items. Whether you’re packing shoes with the soles against the wall of luggage or facing each other, keep in mind that you will need to ensure your suitcase is balanced. You don’t want to deal with your luggage constantly tipping over. Rolling up your underwear, socks, and t-shirts to stuff in between your shoes will save you some major space. Putting these items inside of your shoes will also help you to keep them from being squished. Lastly, the most essential thing to keep in mind is that you don’t need to over-pack. Only bring along about three pairs of shoes for each occasion that you might have and you’ll be able to have a less stressful experience!

How Often Should You Travel?

One response to “Here’s How You Should Be Packing Your Shoes In A Suitcase (Guide)”

Oscar, you certainly hit the nail on the head with your fine insights! I’m a big fan of your thought process when it comes to the topic on hand. I noticed you touched upon XYZ but what about ABC which also seems important? Also, based on my personal experience, I feel incorporating 123 could add more depth to the discussion. Isn’t it interesting when theory aligns with real life? Another angle to consider could be the role of DEF. What do you think? Keep up the great work! Looking forward to your thoughts! 👍😊

11 Best Shoe Bags for Travel, Work & the Gym

11 Best Shoe Bags for Travel, Work & the Gym

Shoes are messy.

Have you ever thrown a pair in your travel bag or gym bag and thought some separation from your clothes and gear would be a good idea?

Here’s a solution: bags that slide onto your shoes or boots and keep them from dirtying up your other packed items.

  • It’s not one size fits all . And I do mean that literally. Some shoe travel bags are built for sneakers, others for much larger work or hiking boots. Find the bag that fits not only your shoe size, but also your shoe type.
  • Light and waterproof . Typically, shoe travel bags are made with lightweight materials (like polyester or nylon) that are also waterproof—or, at the very least, feature a waterproof coating. Sometimes the waterproofing is on the inside (to keep wet/muddy shoes from leaking), sometimes on the outside (to protect valuable sneakers from the rain), and sometimes on both.
  • Stuff-friendly is ideal . When not in use, shoe travel bags should be small enough to stuff into a pocket of your duffel bag or backpack. Some even come with their own stuff sack that makes it easy to pack them small and tuck them out of the way.

After personally testing more than a dozen bags and combing through dozens more, I’ve winnowed down all my options to the very best shoe travel bags to make your packing and transporting shoes exponentially easier and cleaner.

Note : Many gym backpacks include a built-in shoe compartment in case you are looking for something for that purpose.

They're also great for keeping your shoes in one place, so you can just grab them out of your suitcase and pop them in your hotel wardrobe. Plus, they can actually help to protect your shoes — especially if you've opted for waterproof shoe bags and there's a spill in your suitcase (is there anything worse?).

For trainers, heels and sandals, opt for handy drawstring options, or waterproof bags with zips for carrying larger boots. For longer trips on which you need options, some bags carry multiple shoes — but they won't be ideal if you're expecting to get muddy.

So whether you're looking for an efficient packing solution to get shoes neatly into a weekend bag or to protect your favourite footwear from bigger journeys in a suitcase, we've pulled together the best shoe bags available this season to get you packing like a pro for your summer holiday.

The best shoe bags for your suitcase this summer

This practical option won't add weight to your luggage thanks to its lightweight material — which is also waterproof and recycled.

The bags (which come in a set of two) have a spacious, zipped design, handles for easy carrying and enough versatility to be used for other essentials like make-up and underwear; on short trips, use one for your shoes and one for other bits and bobs.

As sleek as its packing cubes, carry-on suitcases and duffles , Away's shoe bags are available in two sizes to suit different luggage, and are made from water-resistant nylon to keep your footwear and clothing protected.

A collapsible divider allows you to separate your shoes, alongside a mesh pocket that's ideal for popping in a pair of flip-flops.

A multiple travel shoe bag, this option features six compartments so you can fit one shoe in each slot or a pair in each, if you have smaller shoes.

It comes in one large bag with a handle that can be placed in a suitcase or carried on its own — this is ideal for longer trips and family holidays, and provides a great shoe storage option at home, too.

This eight pack of travel organisers includes a few handy bags. There's a waterproof shoe bag, four packing cubes for clothes, a bag for toiletries, one for dirty clothing and one for cables.

For an all-in-one solution you can't go wrong here — it includes everything you need to be a packing pro; the ultra-organised will love this set.

For the storage savvy, these bags are great to use at home to protect your shoes from dust and wear and tear in everyday life — and you can then use them to pack into a suitcase.

We would recommend using your shoe bags for storage as opposed to buying them purely for the purpose of travel; these bags work well for both.

If you're planning a hike on your trip, this walking boot bag will keep mud, grass, stones and water away from the rest of your belongings.

With a waterproof inner and a shape designed to keep your boots upright, this is a much sturdier (and sustainable) solution than the trusty plastic bag in the boot of the car.

These storage bags are versatile: use them for shoes, clothes or whatever you need — and thanks to the sweet daisy design, they're ideal for packing for a child.

They're waterproof and include zip-lock closures so make a great choice for storing used, wet or dirty laundry in a suitcase, but they'll also fit some styles of trainers, flip-flops and sandals.

Whether you need to pack sneakers or stilettos, there's something for every trip in this three-set of practical pouches.

Use the smaller bags for clothing, slimline sandals or toiletries and pop chunkier trainers in the larger bag — they're all waterproof and fold down completely, so they're easy to use and store.

We love this bright and spacious tote, courtesy of July. Made completely out of cotton canvas, the durable bag is machine-washable, and there’s a spot for all your on-the-go must-haves. You’ll find a sleeve for your laptop, which holds up to a 16-inch device and even a holder for your water bottle. There’s also a side band for your luggage handles to easily go through.

A July reviewer says: “Highly recommended. Tote fits everything required for travel with plenty of interior pockets. Great way to travel interstate and overseas with NO checked baggage.”

Leave it to the beloved travel brand Away to create a versatile tote that complements any adventure. It comes in four sleek colors and is designed with durable, water-resistant nylon and a chic leather strap. You can personalize it, too, and know that if you bundle your tote purchase with a suitcase, you can snag $50 off.

This elegant Carl Friedrik bag is the epitome of luxury as it consists of premium quality leather and high-end, nickel-silver-finished hardware. It’s just the right size for small necessities, a change of clothes, and a pair of shoes, making it ideal for the gym or quick trips.

A Carl Friedrik reviewer says: “I use it as my daily driver. I keep gym clothes, additional layer and shoes along side my MacBook Pro and e-reader. However, there isn’t a laptop compartment. The bag usually has about 4-6 kg of weight in it and feels sturdy; and is good to wear with smart and a smart casual look.”

A leather tote for under $100? Now that’s a steal. Quince is known for delivering quality essentials at affordable prices. The bag can carry up to a 13-inch laptop with a separate pocket for your phone. You’ll be able to take it from the airport to sightseeing in no time!

A Quince reviewer says: “I really love this bag. It’s soft, fashionable, looks luxe and is sturdy. The straps are comfortable and there’s plenty of pockets inside. There’s also a keychain strap so I don’t lose keys in the black hole of a bigger purse.”

Introducing the travel carry-on of your dreams. The Arlo Skye weekender is a lot roomier than it seems as it can fit an array of outfits, a pair of shoes, a water bottle, a laptop, an iPad, and other travel accessories. As an added bonus, it’s water-resistant and boasts a two-year warranty.

An Arlo Skye reviewer says: “Pockets in all the right places. Great for a ‘personal item’ to supplement your carry on roller suitcase.”

Moms can’t get enough of Dagne Dover’s diaper tote. There’s a spot for everything a child (or two) could ever need. Each purchase also includes a mini changing mat and extra storage pouches. It can even clip onto a stroller, and there’s a game-changing zipper opening for wipes, so you no longer have to dig around to find some.

A Dagne Dover reviewer says: “I’m not a fan of bookbag diaper bags because I have to search through them to find what I need. This bag is perfect to find things and I can keep it organized. It has enough room for everything for my 3 and 1 year old. I would highly recommend!”

Calling all snack fiends or anyone with kids who are prone to spills, the Duck Bag is the solution you’re looking for. It’s a good-size bag that’s machine-washable.

A Baggu reviewer says: “This is not as flimsy as a regular tote bag. It’s a good quality tote bag... Very spacious and can carry a lot.”

You can’t go wrong with a Lululemon tote bag. It’s a classic silhouette made for any outing with plenty of exterior pocket storage, so you can have quick access to anything from a passport to a water bottle.

A Lululemon reviewer says: “I purchased this for my new job at a hospital. I tend to carry a lot of stuff and this bag couldn’t be more perfect. Lightweight but sturdy and stylish.”

On the hunt for something that can hold a lot but won’t take up much space when you’re traveling? Enter: Longchamp’s Le Pliage tote. It weighs less than a pound and can be folded into the size of a paperback book in a flash.

An editor’s review: “I’ve been carrying my laptop around in this tote since college. Since then, it has made it with me to several countries because of its lightweight structure and it doesn’t hurt that it pairs well with any outfit.”

For a timeless buy, go with the Never Still Tote. It can slide right onto a carry-on suitcase, thanks to its unique strap embroidered with Rimowa’s Cologne, Germany, coordinates. You can rest easy knowing that it has a two-year warranty and has been created with top-notch canvas and leather.

An editor's review: “I grabbed this bag in yellow to match my carry-on suitcase and it basically doubles the amount of storage I have when I travel. The spacious tote also has a separate interior pocket for my laptop and then, I use the rest of the space to house my skincare routine, toothbrush, change of clothes, and more during a flight.”

Cuyana Classic Easy Tote

Classic Easy Tote

Next up is a buttery, soft tote with space for a laptop as big as 16 inches. The bag is available in a range of colors including new hues like Biscuit, Sage, and Terracotta, and also comes in three different sizes. You can keep it casual for vacation, but most shoppers love dressing it up for the office. To keep all your work stuff organized , grab the useful tote insert starting at $98.

A Cuyana reviewer says: “Absolutely perfect bag for everyday, for work, and for weekends. It holds EVERYTHING!”

Rothy's The Reversible Summer Tote

The Reversible Summer Tote

Rothy’s has a reversible, rope tote made from an eco-friendly hemp blend that couldn’t be a better fit for a day at the beach. It could also work as a night bag when you head back out after the sun goes down. The best part? This tote is machine washable—but just make sure you let it air-dry.

BÉIS The Work Tote

The Work Tote

It’s no secret that Béis is leading the charge in luggage innovation, and this work tote is proof. As soon as you open up the bag, you’ll see that there’s a place for everything, and given the headache of traveling, you’ll breathe a sigh of relief when your stuff is organized.

An editor’s review: “When I’m out and about, I’m usually searching for my Airpods, a pen, my water bottle, or my keys. This work tote has cut out the stress of feeling like I’ve misplaced something because there’s a pocket for my water bottle, a leash for my keys, and a removable pouch where I keep all my small must-haves.”

L.L. Bean Boat and Tote, Zip-Top (Medium)

Boat and Tote, Zip-Top (Medium)

Nothing beats L.L. Bean’s canvas tote. Starting out as a bag to haul ice, over the years it has been tested and the brand has found that it can carry up to 500 pounds. In short, it can handle anything.

An L.L. Bean reviewer says: “I’ve been buying these bags since middle school in the late 70s/early 80s and they’ve always exceeded any other brand’s bags. I’m just glad they finally added a zip top years ago...”

Think Rolyn Sporty Spice Pickleball Bag

Sporty Spice Pickleball Bag

Impress your pickleball group with this tote that can carry it all. You can even remove the paddle cover portion and use it as a casual travel or day-to-day bag. Our only advice? Act fast as it looks like there are only a few left in each color.

An editor’s review: “Pickleball paddle covers are everywhere, but it took me a while to find a sturdy bag to house my paddle and other essentials. Think Rolyn’s Sporty Spice is spacious, stylish, and works well as a carry-on and a gym bag.”

Marc Jacobs The Canvas Small Tote Bag

The Canvas Small Tote Bag

This Marc Jacobs tote is both stylish and on sale for a limited time. It’s available in an endless number of colors, and the zip closure up top ensures that it will keep all your small items you pack in place.

An editor’s review: “My best friend gave this to me as a maid of honor present and I’ve been obsessed ever since. It’s eye-catching, adorable, and thanks to its small size, I’ve become much more intentional with what I bring with me. I highly recommend it to adventurers who are trying to pack lighter.”

A Summer Capsule Wardrobe Will Simplify Your Packing Process

Finding reliable clothing staples to rewear again and again helps us all to become more sustainable travelers—and refrain from overpacking. When building a summer travel capsule wardrobe, versatile and comfortable basics are key: Rather than packing a suitcase full of trendy items or statement outfits you'll only wear once, consider investing in basics you can pair with several outfits and wear from day to night. To lay the foundation, we've put together a list of top summer wardrobe essentials, whether you’re headed to a beach vacation in Mexico or are planning to eat your way through Italy . No matter where your upcoming travel plans take you, these are the pieces you’ll be glad you packed. From crisp white button-downs and lightweight linen dresses to walking sandals and packable beach totes, you can count on them to keep your packing list short and your outfit options long.

Below, 13 pieces to build a summer travel capsule wardrobe, with men's and women's styles from brands we love: Everlane, Lululemon, Banana Republic, and more. Keep scrolling to see them all or jump right to your item of choice.

Build your summer capsule wardrobe:

The breathable tank top, the perfect short, the linen pant, the classic button-down, the basic tee, the midi dress, the midi skirt, the exercise dress, the white sneaker, the walking sandal, the comfortable heel, the quality bathing suit, the packable tote.

Hot summer days mean you’ll need a few basic tanks. Ribbed tank tops are always a smart choice—they're both comfortable and flattering. If you want something that looks a little more put together with a pair shorts or a midi skirt, I wear this seamless bodysuit from Amazon constantly (it’s double-lined and I own it in multiple colors). Nike and Lululemon make some of our favorite performance tanks for men—they’re available in a variety of colors, too.

Finding a trusted pair of shorts can feel nearly impossible. We chose options that aren’t too short, so you can avoid unwanted chafing while still keeping cool. High-waisted, light wash options are ideal for hot summer days and pair well with just about any top in your suitcase.

shoe bag travel suitcase

For something a little more breezy, opt for a pair of linen pants. Whether I'm headed to a barbecue or lunch by the pool, I'm always gravitating toward linen in the warmer months. Lightweight, packable, and chic—it's the ultimate summer pant.

Every traveler needs a go-to tee . A basic T-shirt pairs well with almost any pair of shorts, linen pants, or skirt you pack this summer (sometimes I even throw one underneath a sleeveless dress). Cotton tees from Everlane, Skims, True Classic, and Cuts are breathable and lightweight, making them year-round staples for every type of packing list . No matter where I'm headed, whether it's a beach trip in Miami or a cabin getaway in Vermont, I have at least two comfy tees in my weekender .

Along with a plain white tee, I never travel without a button-down —I wear these with denim, as a cover-up by the pool , or over a slip dress at night if it gets a little chilly. For something ultra lightweight, a linen button-down will keep you cool and covered.

One of the most fun items to pack for summer: midi dresses . Staple pieces like this rib tank dress from Buck Mason and Abercrombie's linen blend dress are always smart options, but for something with a little more flare, I’m eyeing colorful picks from Lulus, Farm Rio, and Banana Republic. Whether you’re headed to a dinner party or want to explore a new city in style, these dresses scream summer and are easy to throw on with any pair of sandals.

shoe bag travel suitcase

Equally elegant and comfortable, a midi skirt can be dressed up or down with a pair of low heels, sneakers, or sandals. A skirt like this elevates an otherwise simple look and can be reworn endlessly throughout a trip with any of your favorite tanks, tees, or blouses. We love these chic styles from Free People, Banana Republic, and Cuyana, but for something under $40, Amazon brand The Drop's high-waisted skirt is a great staple.

Image may contain: Clothing, Dress, Adult, Person, Accessories, Jewelry, Necklace, Fashion, Footwear, Shoe, and Beachwear

Ideal for active travelers and especially hot destinations, exercise dresses are supportive enough for hikes and workout classes, while doubling as a cute daytime outfit. I don't always work out on a trip, but when I do, a sporty yet feminine exercise dress is the way to go—I'll wear one for a morning walk and still feel put together enough for breakfast at the hotel and whatever comes next. For practicality and comfort, I love ones that have built-in shorts underneath, like the Outdoor Voices style.

Image may contain: Clothing, Tank Top, Dress, and Vest

When it comes to essential shoes, every traveler needs a crisp pair of white sneakers . It’s always my most-worn shoe on every trip, especially when there’s a walking tour on the itinerary. Some of our team's favorite comfortable white sneakers come from Nike, Lululemon, and Adidas, with men’s and women’s sizes available for each.

Summer sandals can be a tricky shoe to purchase: You want a pair that can withstand a good amount of walking without causing blisters, but that still leaves you looking put together. These options below from Rothy's, Olukai, Birkenstock, and Teva can take you from the pool to lunch to sightseeing around town. Comfortable, versatile, and packable, a good walking sandal is simply a must.

shoe bag travel suitcase

For those summer nights when you need something a little more elevated than your favorite pair of sandals, a comfortable heel is a must-have. Black, ivory, or nude heels match just about any midi dress you toss in your carry-on . The height of these heels is just right—high enough to wear to any destination weddings or special events you're attending, but low enough to actually dance the night away in. Bonus points for block heels and mules—both styles are easier to walk in and provide decent stability on uneven ground.

shoe bag travel suitcase

No matter where I’m headed—beach vacation or not—I always pack a bathing suit . You can't go wrong with a supportive one-piece or high-waisted set. Some of our favorite men's swim trunks are from Todd Snyder and Lacoste, but we have plenty more options where that came from.

shoe bag travel suitcase

A packable tote bag that you can bring to the beach, shopping, or to the hotel pool will always come in handy. When I'm low on suitcase space, I prefer one that can lay completely flat—like Rothy's Lightweight Tote. These roomy, beachy bags all fit a day's worth of essentials, including a beach towel , water bottle, and lots of sunscreen .

Travel + Leisure / Tyler Roeland

Spring is finally here. After a few false starts and trepidation, I’m finally packing away my sweaters and boots for the sweet embrace of darling sundresses and beach-ready, comfy sandals . To start the season off fresh, I’m doing my spring shopping at Nordstrom — particularly in its sale section, which is booming with deals. With up to 60 percent off clothes , shoes, and travel necessities, it makes finding what I need for the rest of spring and summer easy (and more budget-friendly).

As an expert shopper, my unofficial job as a fashion stylist and editor, I always look ahead to see if I need (or want) new looks for what I have on my calendar. With vacations booked, most of what I’m eyeing are those effortless travel clothes to wear while in transit or easily packed in my carry-on suitcase (psst: they have those on sale, too, for 60 percent off!) Plus, newly discounted items like flowy maxi dresses (which are 40 percent off) for the beach and a denim jacket for chilly nights; I already have this 50-percent-off one from Mavi in my cart.

This is just a taste of what you can score. To make your life easier, I sorted through everything in the Nordstrom sale section and found the 53 best deals. Keep in mind that you'll have to act fast since some of the spring items are only discounted for a limited time and are selling fast.

Best Women's Clothing Deals

As stated above, most of my shopping focus is on building my summer vacation wardrobe, so hitting up the women's clothing section on sale at Nordstrom is my priority. The necessities are comfy travel pants, swimsuits, and new fun items, like Free People sundresses (this one is currently 30 percent off), or my favorite travel companion: a denim jacket ; follow my lead and grab this one while it's 50 percent off.

Best women's shoe deals.

Sandal season is my favorite season. I love letting my toes free and indulging in some biweekly pedicures. What I don't like is paying full price for new pairs — hence, one of my favorite places to shop is Nordstrom's shoe sale section. Besides open-toe options, I'm eyeing new travel sneakers to support a full day of walking. And with a summer wedding to attend, I might take this as an opportunity to get a new pair of heels worthy of a dance floor .

The reason why Ryanair urges passengers to pack this everyday item in hand luggage

African American woman stacking clothes and shoes into bag case, trying to pack hand luggage

Squeezing all your travel necessities in your hand luggage can be a struggle but Ryanair wants passengers to remember to pack this specific item.

The airline has a strict hand luggage policy and sometimes, when there are too many cabin bags to load into overhead lockers or under the seats, some passengers may be asked to check their bags into the hold without being charged.

This is why Ryanair encourages all passengers to bring along a small, foldable bag tucked away alongside your valuables in your hand luggage.

In the ‘need to know’ section on its website , the budget-friendly airline tells passengers to pack a ‘lightweight, foldable bag inside your carry-on luggage’.

Bringing a small foldable bag will give you a secure place to stash your phone, money snacks and other valuables and ensure they stay with you during the flight.

This small bag can then be tucked away under the seat in front of you.

Passengers occasionally arrive at the gate with a cabin bag that exceeds the free hand luggage allowance, and they may be required to check their bag into the hold, unless they paid for an extra cabin bag.

Travellers who do not wish to pay for any extra luggage are permitted one small personal bag measuring 40 x 20 x 25cm and it must fit under the seat in front of you.

Passengers boarding on a Ryanair plane at Stansted London International Airport

There’s also the Priority boarding option, which gives customers an additional cabin bag which can measure up to 55 x 40 x 20cm and weigh up to 6kg. The price of this little luxury depends on the route and selected dates of travel.

In related travel news, a flight attendant shared an amazing and simple way to stay safe on flights.

When it comes to flying, the pressure can increase the risk of developing a deep vein thrombosis (a blood clot in a vein), particularly on flights that are longer than four hours.

So, the next time you jet off, consider building the ‘alphabet’ hack into your routine to prevent clotting and keep your mind at ease. It’s easy to remember (and if you forget, you can sing along the alphabet song as you practise it).

‘To prevent blood clots during long flights, consider incorporating a few simple strategies,’ TikToker @ciciinthesky, who is a flight attendant and often shares travel tips and inspiration to her account, explains.

‘First, remember the alphabet exercise – trace each letter with your foot to promote circulation,’ CiCi outlines in one video.

‘Second, wear compression socks, which help maintain blood flow and reduce the risk of deep vein thrombosis (DVT).

‘Finally, make it a point to stand up and walk around every hour or so if possible. This helps activate your leg muscles, encouraging blood to flow more freely.

‘Combining these techniques not only enhances your comfort but also significantly lowers the risk of developing blood clots during extended periods of inactivity.’

Father’s day gift guide 2024: best golf gifts for the golfing dad.

It's golf season and Father's Day is coming fast, so get Dad the golf gifts he deserves.

Prime golf season is just kicking off, and if your Dad plays, Father’s Day shopping just got a lot easier.

But there’s one important rule—don’t buy clubs. I’ve been writing about golf gear and travel for more than 25 years, and while there is always a hot new driver, I rarely recommend buying hardware as a gift, because golfers are very particular, and in addition to brand and style preferences, chances are good that you don’t actually know what stiffness shaft Dad uses or whether he has custom length, loft, lie or his favorite style of grip. If you absolutely feel compelled to gift Dad a new driver or putter, get him a gift certificate and let him pick. But if you want to give something more personal, these are the Best Golf Accessories you can get Dad for Father’s Day this year, and this list is researched, curated and only includes items I can personally vouch for and recommend.

If Dad loves great steak, seafood or cooking, see my Mail Order Gourmet Gift Guide here at Forbes , and if he is an active traveler—including golf— check out my Best Luggage for the Active Dad gift guide .

Bushnell has always been the Number One rangefinder on the PGA Tour, and the Pro X3+ is their newest ... [+] model—and best ever.

More Accurate Distances For Lower Scores

In golf it is hard enough to execute what you want to do, but many amateurs compound this by hitting shots without really knowing what it is they want to do. Dad might not always hit the ball the perfect distance, but his chances of success are better if he at least knows what the distance he needs is. That’s why I still use a laser rangefinder every time I play—in addition to GPS—and all the Tour pros and best players in the world do the same thing. Even the best GPS can’t tell where the flag is on what can be a huge green and when you want the precise distance, only laser will do. The best players in the world turn to Bushnell, which has long been the technology leader and Number One rangefinder brand on the PGA Tour. The new Bushnell Pro X3+ is their best model ever.

All of Bushnell’s better models can account for slope, adjusting the actual yardage to a “plays like” yardage due to uphill or downhill elevation change (this function can be turned off for tournament play). But the Pro X3+ goes further and accounts for wind speed and wind direction, often even more important than elevation. It locks onto flags more easily than other brands I’ve tried, thanks to Bushnell’s Pinseeker technology and Jolt confirmation. It’s fully waterproof (IPX7) for rainy days, has integrated magnetic mounting to keep it handy on the upright bar of the golf cart (and a case that clips onto the golf bag if Dad prefers walking), has a protective rubber housing to safeguard drops, and a range of 600+ yards—more than a golfer ever needs. It can connect with the Bushnell golf app, and uses a long life CR2 battery, which I have found much preferable to USB charging models because you don’t have to remember to charge it and then put it back after every round, a huge annoyance of some rangefinders. It’s just the best on the market ($600), but if the price is too steep, try its predecessor and previous top of the line model, the Tour V6 Shift, which has everything except the wind technology ($400).

True golf shoes have taken the industry by storm and their new Lux G is one of the most comfortable ... [+] performance golf shoes ever

Cannes Film Festival 2024: Stars Arrive On Red Carpet For Annual Event

Televisaunivision 2024-25 slate touts latino culture, vix growth, juanpa zurita, william levy deals, judge says up to 20 million fintech depositors are at risk from synapse bankruptcy, true love for dad’s feet.

Golf shoes may seem like a staid industry, but newcomer True Links Wear has been making big waves with its footwear lineup, which combines the best of golf and the best of performance athletic shoes. True has won over converts on the pro Tours, garnered awards and accolades from all the major golf magazines, and when I tried them on, I was instantly smitten. They claim to be the most comfortable shoes in golf and they just might be right. In all kinds of active footwear, but especially running shoes, recent years have seen the rising popularity of “zero-drop” designs, which forego the traditional higher heel and make the shoes essentially level—like human feet. It’s not for everyone but it has a lot of fans, and True is the first performance golf brand I’ve seen offering most of its models in both traditional and zero-drop styles. Overall, they use a more “sneaker” style design, but unlike some competitors, they have these dressed up in full leather models, as well as fabric and leather hybrids.

The newest model is the True Lux G (shown), a fully waterproof (2-year guarantee) Tour-level shoe ($175). They have a big lineup ($129-$239), some are waterproof, some water resistant, they have shoes for hot climates, but they all feature technology born out of other performance athletic footwear, designed not just for golfers, but for golfers who walk (which is a far better way to play the game, and the way the game was meant to be played). Travel + Leisure Magazine named them Best Overall in its test of The Most Comfortable Men’s Golf Shoes and wrote, “They’re lightweight, breathable, stable, and comfortable, but most amazingly, they just don’t feel like golf shoes (and I mean that in the best way)...But, ultimately, they are so comfortable on your feet, that it sets them apart from the more traditional golf shoes in a big way and enables you to wear them out in the world without a second thought.” Golf Monthly wrote: “In terms of design and technology, True knocked it out of the park with the OG Feel. These shoes, which retail for $155, offer a playing experience that you would never expect the first time you pick them up, and this is one of the best shoes for walkers on the market and one of the most comfortable as well.”

Garmin dominates the luxury golf GPS watch space with its MARQ series, and this is the MARQ Golfer ... [+] in carbon finish.

Golf’s Luxury Watch

If Dad is the kind of guy who wears a Rolex or other fine Swiss watch off the course, then the golf version of that is the Garmin Marq Golfer. Garmin has long been the global leader in all things GPS, for commercial, aviation, nautical and recreational use, and they have parlayed that into dominance in sport-specific devices for golf, cycling, hiking and fitness—anything that relies on local detail, movement, GPS and mapping for accuracy. I’ve been a user and fan of Garmin golf watches, bike computers and GPS for years and always recommend them highly.

But the MARQ series is their highest level of luxury ever, with a rugged chronograph-inspired design, ceramic bezel and domed sapphire crystal lens, with the case in traditionalist titanium or futuristic fused-carbon. It looks more real watch than smart watch, but boy is it smart. The golf specific functions alone are staggering, including a virtual caddie that learns your game over time, analyzes elevation and weather conditions and then recommends club selection. Other notable features include club tracking so Dad can analyze stats on how he hits every club in his bag over time to analyze strengths and weakness; more accurate “plays like” distances that use elevation change in addition to pure distance when calculating how far shots need to be hit; close up green views on the full color touchscreen display; “Pinpointer” that give you the distance and direction on blind shots; and it even measures wind speed and direction, a rarity in golf watches. It comes preloaded with more than 43,000 golf courses worldwide, knows which you are playing as soon as you show up, and has extra-long battery life—up to 28 hours in GPS mode, enough for 6-7 rounds. But it’s also a full blown fitness tool and smartwatch, with daily stress scoring; sport-specific fitness profiles and tracking for activities such as cycling, running, swimming, skiing and more; pulse oxygen sensor; respiration and hydration tracking; special metrics for backcountry skiing; altimeter, barometer and compass, with weather monitoring; access to multiple satellite networks (GPS, GLONASS and Galileo) for better global coverage; preloaded topographic maps, and preloaded ski resort trail maps for more than 2,000 resorts worldwide; advanced training metrics including heat and altitude adjusted VO2 MAX, recovery tracking and heart rate variability tracking. In terms of connectivity, it has smart notifications, music streaming and downloads (Spotify, Amazon, etc.), Garmin Pay, and a finance app for tracking stock prices on the go. There’s just not a better, more feature-packed golf watch out there. The “standard” Marq Golfer (Gen 2) in titanium is $2,300 while the all-black carbon fiber version is $3,100.

Garmin's Approach S70 is the top of the line mainstream golf GPS watch on the market today.

Golf’s Best All Around Watch

The Marq above is special, but also runs four figures. For those looking to spend a bit less while still giving Dad the best, the model I use is the Garmin Approach S70, the gold standard—and now on sale for the first time ever. The S70 has premium mapping, a bright AMOLED touchscreen display, enhanced “plays like” features accounting for elevation change, built in fitness and wellness data and much more. The high-resolution color touchscreen is awesome, even in the brightest sun, and it has many of the key golf features of the Marq above, including improved virtual caddie, green details, and more, plus the fitness functions such as special programs for specific workouts and sports, heart rate, stress tracking, blood oxygen, sleep scoring and much more. It comes in two sizes, 47mmm and for smaller wrists 42mm, and both are $50 off for Father’s Day (now $650 and $600).

The "Triple Track" alignment rings on Callaway's high-end Chrome Tour balls will help Dad hit it ... [+] straighter and make more putts.

Better Balls

If there’s one gift you can give a golfer without worrying about whether he already has them, it’s balls, because sooner or later we all need more. In terms of quality, the best balls from all the major producers, Titleist, Bridgestone, Srixon, and Callaway are first rate, and all are played by various world class pros. But one big problem common to amateurs (and even pros) is alignment, both on the tee and on the putting green, which is why for years they have sold special round stencils to let golfers draw a circumference line in marker on their balls. You line this up with where you want to aim off the tee or your putting line and then you can focus on hitting straight through that line and at least starting the ball in the right precise direction. I’m not sure why it took years to go from home drawn solutions to clean professionally done ones, but that’s the big advantage behind Callaway’s Triple Track models, which feature three parallel rings that really make alignment a breeze. Since I started playing these my putting and fairways hit both went up, without any other swing adjustments. The Triple Track option is available in all of Callaway’s best models, the Chrome Tour X for very good players with high swing speeds, the Chrome Tour with lower spin for those who need to hit it straighter, Chrome Soft for the widest range of golfers and those want soft feel around the greens in addition to distance, Chrome Soft X, a distance enhanced version, and the Chrome Tour Soft X LS, a lower spin version that helps reduce hooks and slices ($45-$55 a dozen or $165 for a four dozen package).

Sun Mountain's Speed Cart V1R is the best way for Dad to enjoy a walk on the course

Walk This Way

Golf was invented as a walking sport and it’s a better way to play—better for Dad’s health, better for the environment, and players tend to score better when they walk, with more mental time spent visualizing and considering the next shot and less about start/stop driving and rushing to the ball. I think anyone who can walk should walk when they play, but a big roadblock is the actual act of carrying the bag—something even the world’s best players don’t do. So, unless you want to hire Dad a full-time caddie like those guys have, the next best thing is a great quality push cart, and there’s none better than Sun Mountain’s Speed Cart. The venerable golf company invented the entire category of performance pushcart, and if you are old enough to recall, before that we had miserable pull behind 2-wheel trolleys that kept falling over.

The move to push ahead 3-wheel carts was revolutionary in terms of ease and encouraging golfers to walk the course. So why not make it easy for Dad to get more exercise, with a highly portable (folds up and fits in trunk), durable, high-performance pushcart? The original Speed Cart was introduced in 1990 and has just gotten better over the years. The latest iteration is the Speed Cart V1R, the crème de la crème of the industry, with upper and lower brackets that adjust independently to precisely cradle whatever kind of golf bag Dad has. It opens and folds in two easy steps, the storage tray has a spot for everything including extra balls, car keys, pencil, tees, scorecard, even a slot for mobile phone for those who use it as a GPS rangefinder. There’s a lot more storage in a mesh basket underneath, plus drink holder, umbrella holder, and optional accessories that clip to the handle (cigar holder, sand/seed mix bottle holder, battery charger, and more). The Speed Cart V1R ($290) comes in six color combinations, and Golf Monthly’s review gave it 5-Stars and summed it up: “Sun Mountain’s Speed Cart franchise has been the dominant force in the pushcart market for more than two decades and the new V1R will do nothing to diminish that legacy. The latest Speed Cart release is exceptionally stable, highly functional, and easy to maneuver around the course.”

Give Dad a one-of-a-kind gift with a custom personalized golf bag from Orca.

One-Of-A-Kind Golf Bags

Dad will be the envy of his foursome once they see his custom golf bag, with photo, logo, art or just a monogram. ORCA Golf’s bags are designed by the customer, with assistance from an in-house creative team, to deliver a unique, one-of-a-kind functional and stylish golf bag.

It’s an easy process with ORCA Golf’s online system, with endless customization possibilities, colors, fonts, features, accessories, logos, and functional elements “Orca Golf's personalized golf bags are not just an accessory; they're an extension of the customer’s golf identity,” says President Erica Bennett. They make carry bags, cart bags, and a hybrid, from $975 to $1400. But hurry, concept to delivery typically takes eight to ten weeks. You might have to give Dad an IOU card, but believe me, he’ll think it was worth the wait.

High Camp's standout flasks have long been a golfer's favorite, but the new redesigned Firelight 375 ... [+] is better than ever.

Portable 19 th Hole

Few sports are more associated with the consumption of adult beverages than golf, which like whisky, traces its roots to Scotland and is often played in weather that encourages a quick “warm up.” I always almost include a quality flask in my golf gift guides, and this year’s pick is better than ever. I’ve been a fan of High Camp Flasks, a specialized brand that re-thought many of the age-old flaws in portable booze technology and fixed them using its high-quality stainless-steel models. But the Firelight 375 was just released in a new and improved second generation version that’s the best one yet. At 375ml it holds exactly half a bottle of whisky or other tipple, easily enough for a round of golf but more than smaller flaks that can run dry—especially if Dad is sharing. Like other High Camp models, it has a built-in drinking cup as a cover, magnetically attached for security, and far more dignified than swigging straight from the spout. But now the tumbler and entire flask is insulated and vacuum sealed like today’s best reusable coffee cups, and will help Dad keep his favorite drink from getting warm. The spout has also been widened, which makes it easier to fill and to clean. It’s sleek, comes in several great looking finishes, is leak proof, stylish, functional and on sale for Father’s Day at $66.50 (down from $95). You can even make it extra-special by personalizing it, adding engraving of a logo or monogram, for just twelve bucks extra.

The Hyperice Hypervolt 2 Pro masssage gun is essential gear for anyone who is active—including ... [+] golfers!

Golf can be stressful and makes people tense, but it can also be physically punishing and result in sore backs, neck and shoulders. If Dad doesn’t have the time or resources to go to the spa after every round, give him the next best thing, a pro quality percussive massager, aka a “massage gun.” Lots of pro and recreational athletes use these regularly, and so do I, after skiing, hiking, biking or golf (or before and after). There are a lot of cheap underpowered models on the market, but for just a little bit more of an investment, you can get a real deal top shelf model from sports recovery specialist Hyperice. The Hypervolt 2 Pro is top of the line, with plenty of power and five speeds (many have just three). It has a 3-hour battery life on one charge, and since you rarely use it for more than 10-15 minutes, that’s like two weeks if traveling (I recently took mine on a hiking trip to Europe for 12 days and never had to recharge it). In that vein it is TSA approved for carry-on (don’t check lithium devices or they might get snatched) and has five head attachments for different uses and muscle groups. It’s $50 off for Father’s Day ($279 from $329) and perfect for the golf loving Dad who has everything—except a masseuse.

Golf is a walkng sport and good socks make it more enjoyable.

Better Socks

It’s not the sexiest gift out there, but if you’re looking for something extra or last minute for the golfing Dad who has the best of everything, why not the best socks? After 30 years of covering skiing, hiking and outdoor sports, I’ve learned why quality merino wool is the best material for socks, better than cotton or technical plastic fabrics, and better in every weather condition, hot, cold, wet or dry. Smartwool has dominated the active sock market in just about every sector and golf is no different. They are more comfortable, more durable, and have extra padding depending on model. There is no “golf” sock as such, so I recommend the Run ankle sock or Run Low Ankle Socks, with targeted cushioning, the Hike Low or Hike Ankle socks or the Everyday Solid Rib Ankle socks, all with light cushioning, $19-$22 a pair and built to last.

If Dad likes a cold drink and/or has trouble keeping score, the Tally Tumbler might be the answer!

A Scorecard Dad Can Drink From

A birdie, eagle or record low round is always worth celebrating, while a string of triple bogies might be reason for Dad to drown his sorrows. Or maybe Dad just likes to stay hydrated on the course and/or is challenged when it comes to keeping score. Either way, the Tally Tumbler just might be the answer—and is certainly one of this year’s quirkier golf gifts. It’s basically a high-quality oversized insulated drinking cup, vacuum-sealed like the best ones out there and made of food-grade stainless steel, but with a twist—literally. Rotating rings near the top let Dad track the number of fairways hit, greens in regulation, and total score—at least up to 129, which hopefully he never maxes out. It holds a generous 30-ounces, reusable drinkware is environmentally friendly, there’s no battery to run out, and if Dad is low tech or one of those chronic pencil losers, this could be the perfect gift for him, in four colors with lid. ($40)
