“ "I tell this story to everyone... But when following The Knot Wedding Timeline Planner, it suggested that it's time to start the honeymoon planning. I thought to myself, there is NO WAY. They want me to plan a wedding AND a honeymoon?! They're crazy. But then I remembered meeting a honeymoon travel agent at a wedding expo. Let me just say, it was one of the best decisions of my life getting in contact with Romantics Travel. Kimberly and Jeff are amazing! From the very first call with them, to arriving back at home from the trip, THEY WERE AMAZING! They planned everything down to the last detail. They asked us how we imagined our honeymoon, they set up the flights, transportation to the resort, they gave us an itinerary of the day, who to look for, sent us maps, check lists, and many other things to simply make sure your trip goes smoothly and perfect. And IF we had any issues they took care of it right of way. It was a wonderful feeling to know I could call or send them a message and they responded within seconds. They deserve every praise they receive because they are the best travel agents anyone could ask for. I encourage everyone to have them plan their honeymoon if you want excellent service and to have the honeymoon of your dreams." .”

"Camille was extremely helpful in all the changes that we had to make to our honeymoon related to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
She was super easy to work with and made it so easy to change our travel plans in reaction to the pandemic.
Camille is super easy to talk to and super responsive, and she was super supportive in an extremely tough time.
She is also super knowledgeable about travel options and was very considerate of our budget and helped us plan a honeymoon that is a dream vacation within our original budget.
I would recommend her to anyone who asks, give Camille a call, you will not regret it! "

WHAT THEY SAID...
"Run don't walk to book your next trip with Chic Romance Travel - WOW it was by far the best trip we have ever taken and we travel often! Every single little detail was taken care of the entire honeymoon and it was a true luxury experience.
We went to Croatia for two weeks traveling to their main cities for our honeymoon.
Camille and Tara planned the trip and choose the best hotels, restaurants, tours, activities, etc. We had a full itinerary and everyday was an amazing adventure.
Planning the trip itself was so seamless and she took all my ideas and sites I wanted to see into consideration. Not to mention, the entire time we were there I had someone to ask questions to, change a reservation if we were running late etc.
I could not be happier with how well our honeymoon turned out!! I am so excited to plan our next trip with them!."

Whether you're commemorating a year of marriage with a first-time trip to Amsterdam or reliving your Maldivian honeymoon after 25 years, an anniversary trip is an ideal way to spend quality time with your partner in a beautiful destination. Not to mention, a romantic getaway can infuse any marriage with some much-needed excitement and surprise.
Special anniversary trip ideas abound at any time of the year. Celebrating a winter anniversary? Consider hitting the slopes in Colorado or the hot springs of Iceland under an aurora-lit sky. Nothing beats an Italian summer filled with spritzes and Mediterranean waters. More adventurous couples might opt for an African safari or a hot-air balloon ride over the Arizona desert, while a 45-year anniversary may call for a leisurely train ride through California wine country. Or, maybe you just want to relax in your own private jacuzzi in a nice hotel room in a city you’ve never been to.
The destination will help determine the itinerary for your anniversary, so we’ve compiled a list of places to consider for any type of couple, milestone, or mood. From daring expeditions to intimate one-on-one moments, these trips prove an anniversary is the perfect excuse to discover a new part of the world — and the next phase of your relationship.
Here are 20 of our favorite anniversary trip ideas for your next romantic getaway.
The French Riviera
Armando Oliveira / Getty Images
Jetting off to the south of France to lounge on the beach, stroll through quaint villages, and shop at high-end designer stores is certainly one glamorous way to celebrate your anniversary. Whether you spend your days wandering Nice's picturesque Old Town, exploring the hilly medieval village of Èze, or visiting the famous Casino de Monte-Carlo in Monaco, you're bound to have a postcard-perfect anniversary trip. The French Riviera is known for its luxury hotels, and we recommend staying at properties like the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc on Cap d’Antibes or the Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat, A Four Seasons Hotel on the Côte d’Azur.
Steamboat Springs, Colorado
Roberto A Sanchez / Getty Images
If an active vacation is more your speed, head to Colorado for some world-class skiing. The Steamboat Springs ski resort area offers the best of both worlds with prime powder and relaxing hot springs so you can go from skiing to soaking and back again. The Steamboat Grand has on-site restaurants, a hot tub, and a spa for even more pampering. After a day on the slopes, opt for a romantic massage or an intimate après-ski hangout.
Michela Sieman / Travel + Leisure
Sure, massive European capitals like London and Paris are worthy of a romantic vacation, but something about Amsterdam's charming canals and cozy hotels makes it an ideal anniversary getaway. Tour the famous Van Gogh Museum and opt for a stay with Pulitzer Amsterdam to spend the night in one of 25 beautifully renovated canal homes. Consider booking your trip during tulip season (between March and May) to see the iconic flowers in bloom.
Los Cabos, Mexico
Suzi Eszterhas / Minden Pictures / Getty Images
Fly south to Mexico's stunning beaches for a relaxing stay at a luxury resort. Head to Los Cabos, where there are plenty of incredible properties to choose from. Book an all-inclusive stay at Garza Blanca Resort & Spa Los Cabos for the ultimate stress-free vacation. After paying one flat rate, you won't have to worry about taking your wallet wherever you go, so you can spend all that time unwinding with your partner.
Napa and Sonoma Valleys, California
Billy Hustace / Getty Images
California wine country has everything you need for a romantic trip, including rolling hills covered in vineyards, quaint luxury hotels, fantastic restaurants, and, of course, plenty of great wine. The North Block Hotel in Yountville, Auberge du Soleil in Napa Valley , and Farmhouse Inn in Sonoma wine country are all great places to stay in the region. If you want to explore wine country in a fun, old-school way, book a ride on the elegant Napa Valley Wine Train , which offers various tasting and dining options.
Maasai Mara National Reserve, Kenya
Cameron Spencer / Getty Images
Crossing an African safari off your list is a truly unforgettable way to celebrate another year together. You can’t go wrong in Kenya, where Angama Mara will give you the full luxury safari camp treatment overlooking the Maasai Mara National Reserve. Keep an eye out for the Big Five — lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos, and African buffaloes — on your wildlife-spotting adventure.
Bavaria, Germany
Treat your partner like royalty with a trip to southwestern Germany. When you're not touring famous castles like Neuschwanstein in Bavaria, you can check out your very own queen's quarters — several historic castles have been converted into hotels or Airbnbs . Extend your trip with visits to fairy-tale villages like Rothenburg or Regensburg, or large, vibrant cities like Augsburg and Munich. If time allows, indulge in a relaxing soak or wellness treatment in the spa town of Baden-Baden, located next door in the German state of Baden-Württemberg.
Maui, Hawaii
Taylor McIntyre / Travel + Leisure
For the couple who wants to do a little bit of everything on vacation, Hawaii offers a mix of indulgent relaxation and active adventures. The island of Maui has beautiful beaches where you can enjoy the sand and surf, as well as hiking opportunities in the volcanic Haleakalā National Park . There are plenty of incredible hotels to choose from for your home base, including Hotel Wailea , a luxurious adults-only Relais & Chateaux property, or the Montage Kapalua Bay in West Maui.
Suttipong Sutiratanachai / Getty Images
Every second of your trip is bound to be special in the land of hot springs , glacial lagoons, and active volcanoes. With natural landscapes that include the Blue Lagoon and black-sand beaches, Iceland is mythic. Its otherworldly quality is heightened by dark skies and the chance to see the northern lights — something every couple should do together at least once. Check in to the Hotel Rangá for an aurora wake-up call during peak activity before heading out to the on-site observatory (or the outdoor hot tubs , if that’s more your style).
The Maldives
Celebrate your anniversary among the seclusion and romance of the Maldives. Less than a quarter of the nation’s 1,190 islands (comprising 26 atolls) are inhabited, so you’ll feel like you’ve landed on your own private island as you and your partner lounge in a classic overwater bungalow surrounded by colorful coral reefs and some of the bluest water on earth . You could also just rent a private island . With a multitude of all-inclusive offerings and luxury spots like the Komandoo Maldives Island Resort & Spa or the Outrigger Maldives Maafushivaru Resort , this Indian Ocean getaway really is a couples' paradise.
Key Largo and Key West, Florida
Courtesy of Bungalows Key Largo
For a beach vacation a bit closer to the mainland (and easily accessible for East Coasters), head to the Florida Keys. Take a road trip down the Overseas Highway , connecting Miami to Key West, and stop for fresh seafood, great snorkeling, Key lime pie, and stunning views along the way. Bungalows Key Largo is an adults-only, all-inclusive option, while the Oceans Edge Resort & Marina offers ocean views in a serene setting about five miles from downtown Key West.
Sedona, Arizona
Getty Images / Robert Loe
Spend your anniversary among the famous red rocks, world-class spas, and mystical vortexes (energy hot spots for prime healing and meditation) of Sedona. Striated canyons and flowering cacti create the backdrop for this spiritual capital. The property at L'Auberge de Sedona includes luxury accommodations like spa cottages, which have a fireplace, a jetted tub, and an outdoor cedar shower on the large, private terrace just steps away from the resort’s spa. Couples can indulge in sound healing, stargazing, and hot-air balloon rides over the Arizona desert for an anniversary to remember.
New York City
There’s no shortage of special experiences to be had in New York City, whatever your style or budget. Perhaps you’d like to spend the day roaming the halls of The Metropolitan Museum of Art before catching a Broadway show. Maybe you’re a luxury-loving couple who prefers to window shop along Fifth Avenue before eating the best meal of your life at Eleven Madison Park . Or you might check into a suite at The Lowell , one of the best hotels in New York City , and just… never leave until your return flight home (no shame!). The Big Apple has a wide selection of gorgeous accommodations — from trendy boutique properties downtown and in Brooklyn to historic hotels on the Upper East Side — so you won’t have any trouble finding an exceptional home base for your trip.
Charleston, South Carolina
The South has plenty of small towns and historic cities that are ideal for a romantic getaway, but Charleston’s charming streets, decadent dining, and Southern hospitality put this Lowcountry locale above and beyond for an anniversary trip. Some of the best things to do in Charleston include strolling arm-in-arm along King Street, ordering a round of biscuits and fried green tomatoes at a table for two, and bonding on the links at one of South Carolina's renowned golf courses . As for accommodations, The Loutrel , one of the best hotels in Charleston , provides boutique charm, a rooftop terrace, and beautifully appointed rooms and suites for your stay in the Holy City.
Santorini, Greece
Monica Farber / Travel + Leisure
Whitewashed towns, some of the best beaches in Greece , and deep-blue calderas all help Greece remain a favorite among honeymooners and other amorous travelers. The biggest decision to make when planning a Greek sojourn is which island (or islands) to put on your itinerary. Greece has six main archipelagos with one popular standout among tourists: the Cyclades, where you'll find Santorini. We recommend checking in to the Grace Hotel, Auberge Resorts Collection , and exploring the island's terraces and windmills for quality couple time.
The Seychelles
Finn Hafemann / Getty Images
Pink sand, secluded spots, and glittering waters converge in this remote part of the world. An African archipelago in the Indian Ocean, the Seychelles is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in Africa and a selection of isolated luxury resorts, making it a premier romantic location. The islands are resplendent in polished granite cliffs, aromatic spice plantations, and Creole food. The Four Seasons Resort Seychelles at Desroches Island is the perfect private island escape for any couple looking to get away from it all and unwind with stargazing sessions for two, tranquil walks along untouched beaches, and dips in the pool outside your own villa.
Rory Fuller/Travel + Leisure
Look beyond the misty ruins of Machu Picchu and embrace Peru’s cosmopolitan side. In Lima, the country’s capital city, you and your partner can dine on ceviche and sip pisco sours — when you're not dancing at discos and touring Baroque catacombs, that is. Make the charming Miraflores neighborhood your home base at Miraflores Park, A Belmond Hotel , for stylish accommodations, scenic breakfasts at The Observatory restaurant on the 11th floor, and private dips in your personal plunge pool off the presidential pool suite. Stroll hand-in-hand along El Malecón, the six-mile clifftop boardwalk that borders the Pacific, before making your way to the bohemian Barranco neighborhood for street art and Peruvian chocolate .
Tokyo, Hakone, or Kyoto, Japan
yongyuan / Getty Images
Whether it’s spring strolls through cherry blossom showers in Kyoto, slurping your way through ramen shops in Tokyo, or dipping into the onsens (hot springs) of Hakone, Japan is one of the best places to vacation as a couple. You and your partner will stay busy in Tokyo exploring ancient temples, navigating the hustle and bustle of the famed city streets, and indulging in world-class fare, from Michelin-starred sushi to squid-ink sticky buns at Tsukiji Market . If your anniversary falls in the winter months, consider a cold-weather trip to Kyoto , where you can find lodging at one of the city’s many resorts or hotels.
The Amalfi Coast, Lake Como, or Venice, Italy
Amanda Blackard/Travel + Leisure
Channel Gwyneth Paltrow and Jude Law in "The Talented Mr. Ripley" (before all the murder, of course) with a romantic Italian holiday. Get your fill of oysters and Mediterranean views at Le Sirenuse in Positano on the Amalfi Coast, impeccably manicured gardens at Grand Hotel Tremezzo in Lake Como, or yacht-spotting along the Italian Riviera. When (or, rather, if ) you tire of the beach, take a train to Venice for culture, art, and gondola rides. Sip Bellinis with the jet set by the Olympic pool at Cipriani, A Belmond Hotel , where you’ll soak in your marble bathroom after a day of boat rides around the lagoon and tours of Piazza San Marco.
European River Cruise
Tu xa Ha Noi / Getty Images
For some travelers, river cruises combine all the excitement that comes with visiting multiple destinations in one trip with the convenience of only having to unpack once. Explore Europe's medieval villages, historic metropolises, and romantic wine regions on a tour of the Danube, Rhine, or Douro river.

Most Romantic Places in Europe

London is one of the most romantic cities in Europe, indeed the world. It’s a vast city with as much to see as many countries and plenty of romantic things to do.
A great place to start is with a walk along the Thames Path. The short walk between Lambeth Bridge, opposite the Houses of Parliament, and Westminster Bridge. It’s only a short distance further to the London Eye, which has superb views over the city, or continue to Waterloo Bridge, where the winter sunsets are sensational. A little further along the Thames Path, the Oxo Tower Bar, has an outstanding view across the river to St Paul’s Cathedral.
The suburb of Chelsea is another lovely romantic London spot. The busy King’s Road has many cafes where one can watch the world go by, and some gorgeous streets with brightly painted houses a short walk away. Cheyne Walk is one of the most beautiful streets in London, where everyone from King Henry VIII to three of the Rolling Stones has lived.
The houses are among the grandest in London , and full of blue plaques commemorating the famous names who resided there. The Albert Bridge, across the street from there, is the most beautiful in London. It looks at its best at night, with its twinkling lights reflected in the Thames.
It’s also worth planning a London afternoon tea in advance – some of the best hotels require reservations. The likes of the Savoy, the Ritz and Claridge’s put on an amazing spread with finger sandwiches and cakes. It’s a classic London tradition, not to be missed.

Kyiv (or Kiev as the direct transliteration from Russian) is the capital city of Ukraine, a large country in Eastern Europe. The city is small enough to walk around in a few days and is full of history. The river Dnieper runs through the centre of the city which is downstream from Chernobyl and the abandoned city of Pripyat.
The whole city is energized and developing and has a modern vibe with a hint to its past with romantic corners and beautiful architecture.
One of the best ways to explore the city is to take the funicular railway from the main area of the city to St Michael’s Golden-Domed Monastery. This lives up to its name with golden domes against a vivid blue building. In the small park between the railway and the monastery you will find red squirrels racing around and looking for attention, a good place to pause before setting off.
It is just a short walk to the beautiful UNESCO World Heritage Site of St Sophia’s Cathedral with its green and golden domes and the nearby vivid green and dominating St Andrew’s Church. From the church grounds, there are panoramic views across the whole city allowing you to see how many domed churches there are across the skyline.
From St Andrews Church, Vozdvyzhens’ka Street is a gentle wander down a cobbled street with cafes and restaurants and small street vendors. A perfect place to spend time with the one you love.
Hotel Staro is a decadent location to stay in the quieter end of the city. It is surrounded by small galleries and little cafes. The rooms are ornate with high ceilings and heavy furniture and the breakfasts are good.
This city can be visited year-round although spring is the best. The winters are cold and harsh and the summers can be very warm.

When you want to choose a destination for a romantic escape with your better half, Romania is not the first country you think of. But the truth is that Romania has medieval cities that seem excellent sceneries for a romantic getaway. And one of these cities is Sibiu.
Located at the border of Transylvania, in the heart of Romania, the city is 300 kilometers away from Bucharest. The charm of Sibiu is given by its cobblestone streets, colorful, old buildings and intimate caffes. If you plan a romantic dinner, you can choose one of the modern restaurants with delicious International and Romanian dishes. And for a romantic stay, try The Council hotel.
On a long walk in the city centre you will discover interesting places to visit. One of the most romantic spots in Sibiu is the Stairs passage. Part of the old fortification system of the city, the Stairs passage has an amazing glow during sunset, especially in summer. After walking through this passage and crossing the Huet piazza, another place for couples will be revealed in front of you: Liars’ Bridge. This important attraction in Sibiu took its name from the lovers that swear eternal love on it. Many of these vows are broken and the bridge became a symbol of them.
Sibiu has other interesting attractions for couples and not only, so next time when you choose your romantic place, don’t forget about it!

Lisbon seems as though it was designed to be one of the most romantic cities in Europe and perhaps one of the top honeymoon destinations as well.
Built on seven hills, Lisbon is a city of dreamy miradouros or viewpoints. Start with the panoramic view from the top of the Elevador de Santa Justa, the city’s wrought-iron iron vertical street lift. Stroll up to the hilltop Miradouro de Santa Luzia for a picnic under a bougainvillea-draped trellis overlooking the Tagus River and Alfama, Lisbon’s oldest neighborhood.
From there, wander hand-in-hand through the twisting, cobblestone streets as you spot colorful tiles and street art. Above Alfama, on the highest hill in the city, visit São Jorge Castle and savour a sunset glass of wine from the mobile kiosks known as “Wine with a View”.
Snuggle up at the boutique hotel, the Memmo Alfama, which has cozy rooms facing the river and a rooftop terrace with city views that will make you melt. Lisbon is a year-round destination, but the best time of year to enjoy that terrace is spring or fall to avoid the summer heat and festival crowds.

Nestled along the turquoise banks of Italy’s soaring Amalfi Coast, it’s no wonder Positano is a hot spot for romantic interludes and honeymooners. In fact, it’s hard not to get caught up in a moment, as Mediterranean breezes tickle your sun-kissed skin and the limoncello sweetens your lips. It’s one of the most romantic European destinations for couples.
Each turn of a leisurely stroll through this enchanting town carved into the mountainside showcases breathtaking views of the Tyrrhenian Sea. Shops featuring the handiwork of local artisans dot the narrow descent; you’ll find chic linen beach dresses, handmade leather sandals, colorful pottery, and more.
Along the way, watch for the iconic dome of The Church of Santa Maria Assunta, aglow with multi-colored majolica tiles.
At the base of Positano, two black-pebble beaches hug the shore. The first and more popular beach is Grande Spiaggia di Positano. It welcomes guests with lounge chairs, boutiques, and waterfront restaurants perfect for refreshing afternoon drinks. Here, you can also charter a private boat tour to the island of Capri.
Or instead slip away to the secluded Spiaggia di Fornillo . Simply pass through the romantic promenade to escape the crowds.
For an elegant overnight, consider booking the suite at Hotel Villa Gabrisa. Once an ancient villa in the historic center of Positano, this charming hotel offers fine dining, a wine bar and cafe, plus a complimentary continental breakfast with your reservation. The spacious suite affords luxury accommodations and a large terrace with a sea view—the perfect setting for a secluded tryst with room service.

Seville is located in the southern region of Andalusia in Spain and is the perfect all year round destination for a romantic break with that someone special. Seville is a compact and relaxed riverside city with beautiful Moorish architecture, UNESCO heritage sites, excellent wining and dining and many gorgeous landscaped parks.
There are so many romantic things to do in Seville – start off your day by taking a stroll through the labyrinth of charming narrow streets and alleys of the El Barrio de Santa Cruz neighbourhood. You’ll discover many intimate squares, huge orange trees and some of Seville’s most gorgeous buildings.
Next head over to Plaza de España to admire the exquisite tile work and grand architecture, then hire a rowboat for a romantic ride around the square. Plaza de España is also beautifully lit up at night if you want to return for a romantic midnight stroll.
End your perfect day with a cosy and romantic candlelit dinner at one of Seville’s many historic tapas bars for a glass of Spanish wine and some fresh and delicious seafood. Follow up dinner with an intimate traditional flamenco show at either Casa del Flamenco or Casa de la Memoria and if you still have energy afterwards, head to Hotel Doña Maria‘s rooftop bar for a cocktail with one with the best views of the city and the Cathedral lit up at night.

Your first glimpse of the turreted fortress of Fisherman’s Bastian high on the hill on the Buda side of the city will have you feeling like you have walked into a fairy tale. You will immediately know you have chosen the right spot for your romantic vacation.
One of the most romantic things to do in Budapest is to take a sunset stroll along the Danube, as the city changes from day to night, and the lights on the stunning Parliament building come on. Once you have snapped a romantic sunset selfie head to one of the city’s rooftop bars to drink in more of the view or take a river dinner cruise, the lights never get old.
When hunger strikes, Budapest is full of quirky and quality restaurants. One we loved was KönyvBár (Bookbar in English) which serves a changing menu inspired by books. To date they have covered everything from Fifty Shades to Harry Potter! The menu changes every two weeks so check and see if this week’s meal suits you. There are also a bunch of affordable Michelin star restaurants if you want to impress.
Finally, you really should pay a visit to one of the city’s thermal baths we recommend Gellért the pretty Art Nouveau designed complex. Budapest’s thermal pools are among the most popular in the world and as well as being relaxing the minerals contained in the water are said to provide lots of health benefits. Gellért offer indoor and outdoor mixed bath areas and couple massages too

Looking for a fun, perhaps unexpected city break? One of the most romantic cities in Europe is definitely the capital of Armenia, Yerevan. The ancient city is 2802 years old and is known as “the pink city” because it is mostly built from pink volcanic stone called tuff. This illuminating tuff gives Yerevan a magical and romantic feeling from above or during certain hours of the day.
In addition to the pink tuff, Yerevan has cozy and sometimes hidden side cafes where couples can enjoy their time with each other.
In Armenia’s capital, there is even a park dedicated to couples called ‘Lovers Park’. You can head there and enjoy your time with your significant other in a beautiful and romantic environment surrounded by an artificial waterfall alongside a charming canal and several sculptures.
Other places that are romantic in Yerevan are the Cascades stairway, a large limestone construction that goes up an incline and the best place for couples to sit and gaze over the city at dusk. At the Cascades, you’ll find several cafes and romantic restaurants that locals love to get dressed up and enjoy in the evenings.
If you’re wanting to get out of the city and experience some of the lovely nature in Armenia, there are many wonderful day trips from Yerevan , such as Garni Temple or Lake Sevan, that will offer a new romantic setting

The Azores are easily one of the most romantic places to visit in Europe. The archipelago of nine islands sits in the middle of the Atlantic and is owned by Portugal, but they retain their rustic charm and beauty and are like no other place in Europe.
One of the main things that make the Azores the perfect romantic destination is that Azorean nature is some of the most beautiful on the planet. Between the natural hot springs and Jurassic ferns, a person can’t help but feel in love with their surroundings and the person that they travel to the islands with.
The Azores are known for being home to volcanoes, interesting cuisine like cozido das Furnas, and some of the world’s best whale watching. There are many tours in the Azores but some of the most popular are scuba diving, visiting the different sides of Sao Miguel, or going whale watching.
The best place to start your romantic journey through the Azores is in Sao Miguel… but be sure to explore the other islands like Pico and Terceira while you’re there. There are ferries connecting the islands during the high-season and inter-island flights at other times of the year. The Azores are destined to become one of Europe’s hottest destinations and you will see everyone there from honeymooners to solo travelers.

Known as the Eternal City and positively bursting with everything from world-famous monuments to art museums to delightful cobblestone lanes perfect for wandering down hand-in-hand, there’s no doubt that Rome is one of the most romantic cities in Europe .
While exploring Rome with your beloved, be sure to make time for classics like touring the Colosseum, visiting the Vatican Museums (including the phenomenal Sistine Chapel), admiring the Pantheon and munching on gelato in Piazza Navona–but to really up the romance, ditch the crowds and explore the uncrowded side of Rome as well.
Small museums like the Palazzo Doria Pamphilj, the Galleria Spada, and the Villa Farnesina may not have the fame of, say, the Borghese Gallery–but the chance to avoid the crowds and linger among gorgeous art together without having to hurry on makes them incredibly romantic.
For a chance to steal a smooch while admiring the best views of Rome, consider heading to the top of the dome at St. Peter’s Basilica, the top of the Altar of the Fatherland, or the top of the Castel Sant’Angelo.
Rome is an incredibly romantic European city year-round, but you’ll likely enjoy your trip more if you avoid the hot, sticky summer months of July and August (though if you do make it to Rome then, know that there are plenty of beautiful beaches that make great day trips from Rome !).
If you’d like to have the Eternal City all to yourself, consider a winter trip–Rome boasts mild temperatures and a delightfully uncrowded environment during winter, making it an excellent destination for a Valentine’s Day getaway!

Paris is for lovers! Could there be a more romantic destination than Paris, France? It’s a global hot spot for anyone who loves French cuisine, art, and culture. As you wander the banks of the Seine and sip a glass of wine in a cozy café, the City of Lights will weave its spell over the two of you in no time.
Skip long lines at the Louvre for a more intimate experience sighing over Monet’s famous water lilies at the beloved Orangerie or tapestries at the Cluny Museum instead. Or gaze up at Rodin’s famous statue, The Thinker, in the lovely gardens of the Rodin Museum.
Looking for more ideas? Share a picnic just for two in one of the city’s dozens of verdant parks or a cafe au lait and pastry at Le Grenier á Pain. There are so many things to do in Paris . For a memorable stay that won’t break the bank, stay at Hotel Abbatial Saint Germain. It’s conveniently located in the Latin Quarter, just minutes from Ile de la Cité.

St. Petersburg
Submitted by Yulia Dyukova, That’s What She Had
The cultural capital of Russia as its called by the locals, Saint Petersburg, is a less obvious destination when it comes to romantic vacations in Europe. And undeservedly so. With its hundreds of narrow canals, heavily decorated bridges, and pre-revolution era palaces, Saint Petersburg will charm you instantly.
Take a stroll down Nevsky prospect and marvel at beautiful architecture. A word of warning, sometimes what you think must be a palace is actually a supermarket (looking at you, Eliseevsky store). Spend some time on the water: take a boat tour of Neva River and most popular canals. Visit the gorgeous Orthodox churches of which there are over seventy in the city. But do make a special stop at the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood that you’ve probably seen a thousand times on pictures. It is even more awe-inspiring in real life.
At night, trying some great Russian food for dinner is a must. Instead of going to touristy canteens that feature balalaikas, shapka-ushanka, and vodka bottles as decorations, head to one of the modern Russian restaurants, like Banschiki. Romantic vibes and mind-blowing food with creative twists are guaranteed.
Lastly, if you are traveling to Saint Petersburg during summer months (which you should), stay up till late to experience the famous “white nights” and see the bridges open.

With its blessed climate, charming hilltop villages, stunning coastal towns and penchant for lingering over long lunches, Provence is a romantic destination like no other. It’s no wonder why many couples choose the South of France to get wed, honeymoon, or even plan a surprise proposal.
Days can be spent simply enjoying the surroundings, sipping on the region’s renowned rosé , or swimming at one of the most idyllic beaches you’ve ever laid eyes on. More active couples will enjoy the walking trails through the calanques or climbing up Cezanne’s beloved Mont Sainte – Victoire . Or hop on your bike and discover the winding roads connecting the bucolic villages of the Luberon . Culture aficionados will be in their element browsing the museums and galleries in the ancient cities of Aix -en-Provence or Avignon.
And for an authentic slice of Mediterranean life, head straight to Marseille .
For balmy days and cool nights, visit in Spring and enjoy the blossoming landscapes and uncrowded streets. And for a romantic stay in an idyllic setting book a room at La Bastide de Gordes.

Moscow, Russia doesn’t always bring to mind images of “romance.” However, don’t let the stereotypes fool you – Moscow can be an especially romantic destination for adventurous couples!
While the weather is more comfortable during the summer months in Moscow, visiting Moscow in winter (especially during the Christmas holidays) is absolutely magical and looks as though the city were plucked straight from a fairytale. There are beautiful Christmas lights and markets that are perfect for grabbing a mulled wine or hot chocolate and walking through hand in hand with your partner. (The most famous market is held right in Red Square.)
Need to warm up after a day of enjoying the markets? Head to a Russian Banya and book a private couples room. (Banya Zhivitsa is especially couple’s friendly.) You and your partner can enjoy couples soap massages and the traditional Russian banya experience together. (A banya is similar to a sauna.)
Winter is also a wonderful time of year to see a ballet performed at the famous Bolshoi Theatre – especially if you are lucky enough to get tickets to a performance of The Nutcracker. Be sure to have a romantic dinner at Turandot or Beluga restaurants before you head to your performance.
Where to stay in Moscow: One of the most historic and glamorous hotels in Moscow is the Metropol. (This hotel is also the setting for the best-selling novel “A Gentleman in Moscow.”) Another great option is the Four Seasons Hotel located right on Red Square with some of the most luxurious and romantic hotel bathrooms in the city.

Isle of Skye Scotland
Submitted by Nabiha Khan , Verses By a Voyager
Scotland is extremely captivating and it’s also one of the amazingly beautiful areas in the country is the Isle of Skye. This part of the highlands is very romantic, too. Its green, it has huge mountains, mesmerizing lakes and historical castles beautifully sitting near the lochs.
The Isle of Skye presents a complete vibe of a super romantic place that takes you away from the hustle-bustle of everyday life. It’s serene and picturesque and let you have your alone time away from everything. Moreover, Isle of Skye hosts the most romantic place in the UK, the Fairy Pools. There are straight from a storybook and takes to the lands of fairytales. There are many Hollywood as well as Bollywood movies shot in Isle in Skye and that depicts how romantic this place is to form a perfect backdrop for a romantic movie.
The Isle of Skye offers the perfect tranquillity one craves for a romantic, laid-back holiday. As Scotland is very cold, summer is the best time to visit Isle of Skye.

County Kerry, Ireland
Submitted by Dan Bagby , Honeymoon Always
The majestic Irish landscapes, remarkable rich history, charming tradition, and welcoming people make Ireland a wonderful destination for couples looking for romance. One region to add to the list of romantic destinations, in particular, is County Kerry: full of beautiful sites and natural beauty.
Base your stay at Ballyseed Castle Hotel where you will find elegant accommodations, fine dining and 30 acres of private gardens and woodland. During the days, take a trip to the small town of Dingle for great restaurants and Murphy’s Ice Cream. Loop around the Dingle Penninsula on the Slea Head Drive, making stops along the way at the various ancient monuments including the beehive huts and stone churches, views of Skellig Michael (where scenes were filled for the most recent Star Wars films) and the beautiful Inch beach.
Killarney National Park with 26,00 acres of woodland, mountains, lakes and the Muckross House where Queen Victoria visited is also worth a visit as well as the Ring of Kerry with spectacular sights and quirkiest towns and villages.

Moscow for two: 5 romantic spots in the capital
1. Apterkarsky Ogorod (Apothecary Garden)
The garden is open year round. In winter the ice sculpture exhibition and orchid festival are the main attractions, while in spring magnolias and other exotic flowers bloom. In summer it is possible to interact with the fish in the pond and in fall it is a wonderful place to sit on a bench and admire the colorful seasonal leaves. The greenhouse is a particular delight in winter: After freezing in the subzero temperatures of the streets, you can find yourself in a tropical jungle with monster pine trees and pineapples, an experience that can only be had here during Moscow’s long winter days.
2. The Observation Deck of the Academy of Science
From here it is possible to see the multi-colored roofs of elite residences and St. Andrew’s monastery, the Moscow river, bridges, the sports arena Luzhniki, Moscow State University’s main tower, the skyscrapers of Moscow City, Christ the Savior Cathedral and the Bell of Ivan the Great. The security guards are quite relaxed as the square is so little known. Take along a blanket, a thermos full of tea, a couple of sandwiches and arrange a romantic picnic and take in a Moscow sunset.
3. Hermitage Garden
The most important symbol of the Hermitage garden is a huge silver heart, with a height of about 3.5 meters. This monument of love is shrouded in legends and rituals, which are known only by couples: After making a wish, if you go through the silver heart, your wish will come true. This place even has its own tradition: Every year on February 14 a flash mob of lovers gathers near the heart for one of Moscow’s largest groups of kissing people.
This park has been a favorite place for Russian writers to wander and gather their thoughts for more than a century. Anton Chekhov and Leo Tolstoy both loved to walk here and came frequently to admire the old fountain and seek literary inspiration in the quiet garden. An ancient Moscow dovecote has been preserved here with pedigreed pigeons, and squirrels and majestic pheasants stroll the grounds. The garden benches and gazebo provide an opportunity to shoot romantic staged scenes suitable for a wedding album.
4. Chaika Pool
Do not forget to pack a swimming cap, flip-flops and a towel, shower products and a doctor's note. Of course, the cap and everything else can be bought on the spot and a doctor can perform a medical inspection and issue a certificate for a small fee (about 10$). Bring your passport along as it is needed for entry.
5. Mosfilm movie studio
In addition to the atmosphere offered by the film sets in Moscow’s Hollywood, one can see vintage automobiles, modern film sets, collections of famous film costumes and accessories from numerous Soviet classics, replicas of monsters used in the filming of Russian fairy tales and screenwriters, cameramen, directors and actors scurrying about from one film set to another. It is only possible to tour the Mosfilm studio grounds as part of a tour. Reservations are required for group tours.

Choosing a Dream Honeymoon Over a Lavish Wedding
With the cost of weddings on the rise, some couples are skipping big celebrations and prioritizing travel instead.
By Brianna Holt
In October 2023, Oscar Avilez Marquina and Luis Lopez, newlyweds from New York, flew to Europe to spend two weeks on a city-hopping tour between Nice, France; Paris; and Amsterdam. JetBlue had just launched direct flights to Paris from Kennedy International Airport, and the deal was too good for the couple to pass on.
“Going to Paris has always been a dream for me and for Luis as well,” said Mr. Avilez Marquina, 30, who is currently unemployed. “I’m so happy that the first time we got to visit, it was together because that’s going to become a core memory that we’re going to look back on for years to come.”
The decision to have a trans-Atlantic honeymoon is one the couple prioritized after eloping on Feb. 2, 2022, at the Durham Courthouse in Durham, N.C., with two friends as witnesses.
“We had talked about having a wedding and what that would look like,” Mr. Avilez Marquina said. “And after many discussions and sort of understanding the anxiety of having one, we decided to go to a courthouse and focus on what we really love to do, which is traveling and enjoying each other’s company.”
Ultimately, the cost of having a bigger wedding drove the couple away from the idea, with Mr. Lopez estimating a $60,000 budget for a larger party.
“That’s basically what my student loans cost,” said Mr. Lopez, 30, an accountant. “I had to ask myself, do I get married or do I pay my student loans? And is it worth spending that much money on something that’s only going to last a few hours?”
Instead, the couple combined their travel miles and spent a total of $2,000 on their honeymoon trip.
The average cost of a wedding in the United States last year was $35,000, according to the Knot . Also, the average student loan borrower in 2023 owed $37,338 in federal student loan debt, according to the Education Data Initiative . With persistent inflation , paying for a lavish wedding celebration has become financially unattainable for some couples. However, many others have found that splurging on a dream honeymoon is more affordable and less stressful to plan than an extravagant wedding.
While thinking about a wedding to her college sweetheart, Haley Black, a full-time content creator, decided she didn’t want one. Her childhood fantasy was not a huge wedding. Instead, she dreamed of traveling and seeing other cultures.
So, in November 2022, Ms. Black, her husband, Mon’Darius Black, and their eight-person wedding party traveled from Shelby, N.C., to the Greek island of Santorini for a nine-day trip that included a small wedding ceremony with group activities followed by a honeymoon full of excursions and sightseeing.
“We didn’t want to spend a tremendous amount of money on a wedding. We looked at it like it was more about us rather than other people,” Ms. Black, 25, said. “Some people do see that as selfish, and while we had concerns about that, what mattered most is how we wanted to celebrate ourselves.”
When the couple first started considering wedding venues, the cheapest option they could find was $25,000. Flowers alone were $10,000. The total cost of their marriage and honeymoon trip was a little under $9,000. “We both have student loans, and we weren’t willing to go into more debt over a wedding to appease other people,” Ms. Black said.
Erika Hernandez, a wedding and elopement planner and the founder of the Greatest Adventure Wedding in Seattle, said that combining an elopement with a honeymoon was becoming increasingly popular because of its affordability.
“A lot of times, the couple just wants to include something that they really love doing together, like something they built their relationship off, and a lot of times that is traveling and adventuring together,” she said.
Couples choose honeymoons over weddings for more than just the savings. Many of Ms. Hernandez’s clients prioritize travel because they want to avoid the stress of preparing for a big event, are too busy with work and children, or prefer not to be the center of attention. “People rather spend the money on an experience for themselves than dinner for a whole bunch of people,” she added.
After Muna Yowell’s in-laws threw her and her now-husband, Dr. Jose J. Vargas Alvarado, an engagement party, the couple realized that they didn’t want a wedding.
Ms. Yowell, a 27-year-old data analyst, said the engagement party was largely about socializing with guests. On Oct. 7, the couple, who live in Dallas, married at a local courthouse and spent the evening with loved ones at a friend’s apartment.
Ms. Yowell, who is Palestinian, and her husband, who is Guatemalan, said they both did not feel right about holding a big celebration when the majority of her family lives in Palestine.
They spent only $100 on their courthouse ceremony, leaving room in the budget for a much larger honeymoon.
A week later, the couple flew to Hawaii for a week. “We went all out because we knew we could,” said Ms. Yowell, adding that the $5,000 trip involved renting a private sailboat, snorkeling, a helicopter tour across Maui and indulging in a fancy dinner every night of their stay.
“I’ve always heard that when it’s your wedding, you barely even get to eat the food that you paid thousands of dollars for,” Ms. Yowell said. “I didn’t want that. We wanted to be able to soak up the moment and really enjoy it with each other.”
Skipping the big wedding and going on a more budget-friendly getaway may have its drawbacks. Family members may be disappointed that they will miss the special day. However, Ms. Black decided that the advantages of saving money outweighed a few ruffled feathers.
“I don’t want to diminish the importance of family when it comes to celebrating big moments because I do love our families,” Ms. Black said, “but them witnessing us getting married is not worth us going into debt over a wedding.” The Blacks used the money they saved to close on a home in 2022 in Shelby, N.C.

Inside USMNT Goalie Matt Turner's ‘Timeless, Romantic’ Wedding to Former Cheerleader Ashley Herron in Boston! (Exclusive)
After privately tying the knot in 2022, the couple held a second celebration with all of their family and friends on May 24: "We are beyond thrilled," Turner tells PEOPLE
Erin Clack is a Staff Editor for PEOPLE. She has been writing about fashion, parenting and pop culture for more than 15 years.

Matt Turner and his wife Ashley said "I do" all over again — this time, with their family and friends by their side.
After privately tying the knot back in May 2022, the U.S. Men's National Team goalkeeper and the former NFL cheerleader celebrated their wedding at the State Room in Boston on Friday, May 24. They welcomed 215 guests including professional soccer players Rob Holding, Brandon Bye, Andrew Farrell, DeJuan Jones and Henry Kessler.
The couple — who got engaged in February 2022 — tells PEOPLE that they chose Massachusetts' capital city as the location for their nuptials because it's where they first met and fell in love. At the time, Matt was playing for New England Revolution, and Ashley was a member of the New England Patriots cheerleading squad.
"So many great memories were had in Boston," Ashley says. "We bought our first house in Boston, which we still have to this day. It’s also in between where both our families live."
For the couple, their special day was a long time coming. Though they always dreamed of having "a big wedding celebration," Matt's busy soccer career and commitments proved challenging. In addition to playing for USMNT, Matt is a goalkeeper for the Premier League club Nottingham Forest in England. "He gets little time off. Things like the World Cup took precedence — rightfully so," Ashley explains of their decision to postpone their wedding plans.
Keen to make things official, however, they instead held a small ceremony in Boston two years ago, right before moving to London, where Matt would be playing for Arsenal at the time.
"It was at sunrise overlooking the Boston harbor in honor of our son who was about to be born. His name is Easton, which means sun rising in the east, and for us, the East Coast will always be home and sunrises always mean a new beginning," Ashley tells PEOPLE of their private nuptials. "It was symbolic and perfect for us."
When it finally came time to hold their dream wedding this year, the couple planned the event around three key words: "Timeless, because love is always and forever; romantic, because we’re two passionate and loving people who believe in fate and magic; and spirited, because to us it symbolizes the value of life and being surrounded by good energy," Ashley explains.
Wanting to take advantage of the rare opportunity of having all of their loved ones together in one place, they opted for a three-day affair that kicked off with a welcome reception at Capo in South Boston — the restaurant where Matt and Ashley first met — on Friday and concluded with a farewell brunch at the Boston Harbor Hotel on Sunday.
Ashley, who has a background in event planning, decided to handle all of the wedding arrangements herself.
"As tempting as it was to consider hiring a planner, I wanted to have full transparency into what was going on and have the ability to review contracts, negotiate and work with individuals so I knew exactly what to expect," she explains, before conceding, "But planning a wedding from abroad and with two babies under 2 definitely made the process a little more stressful. But it was my first project after having my daughter, and it was fun getting back into event planning."
The couple's biggest priority for the wedding was making sure their two kids — Easton, and daughter Everley , born in September 2023 — were an integral part of everything. "They are our lives, and so that spoke to a lot of our decisions in the wedding process," Ashley notes.

During the ceremony — which was officiated by Matt's best friend from childhood, Vincent Macaluso, the pair exchanged handwritten vows. Ashley walked down the aisle to a piano rendition of "A Million Dreams" — her son's favorite bedtime song — followed by an instrumental version of Taylor Swift 's "Invisible String."
She wore a Berta Bridal Couture dress featuring a ballgown silhouette, sheer sleeves, an open back and details such as floral appliqués and 3D rosettes. She accessorized with a pair of Jimmy Choo crystal-embellished satin sandals with a block heel and drop pearl-and-diamond earrings that her father gave her grandmother as a gift decades ago.
In a sentimental touch, Ashley also wore a veil with her son and daughter's heartbeats embroidered on it, along with a sentence in Matt's handwriting from one of the first notes he ever wrote to her.
Her hair was styled by The Bridal Bar and her bridal glam was overseen by Erica Wright of Glam Done Right .
For the reception, which featured flower arrangements by Market Floral Studio , Ashley changed into what she calls her "something blue," a corseted scoop-neck gown with cascading gathered tiers and side pockets, designed by Victoria Salisbury.
Matt sported a custom tailored tuxedo by Nota Bene Bespoke with personal messages on the inside of the jacket. The athlete also wore Louboutin shoes, a Rolex watch and a Van Cleef & Arpels bracelet.
Following the reception, Matt and Ashley hosted a cocktail hour with passed hors d'oeuvres, a champagne tower provided by Chic Party Carts and three signature cocktails including the "Easton Sunrises," featuring tequila with a splash of grenadine and orange juice.
A three-course dinner followed, with a menu that included surf and turf, roasted chicken and a Mediterranean-inspired vegetarian plate. For dessert, guests enjoyed slices of the three-tier wedding cake, covered in white fondant with a cascading waterfall design and pearl embellishments. The cake featured layers of vanilla with strawberry buttercream and devil's food cake with Oreo cookie buttercream.

Once the dancing got underway, Ashley and Matt shared their first dance to "Your Bones" by Chelsea Cutler. During the party, guests left the couple messages via an audio guest book inside of a replica of a red London phone booth, custom built by Dragonfly Designs.
Looking back on their special day, Ashley tells PEOPLE the long-awaited wedding was everything they hoped for and envisioned. "It was an accumulation of celebration on all the dreams that have come true thus far — finding each other, having our babies, playing in the World Cup — and will continue to come true as we build this life together," she explains.
She says she feels like "the luckiest person in the world" to have such a "supportive" partner as Matt. "Our relationship is built off of love, trust and appreciation for one another. We want what is best for one another, we communicate and we respect each other," she notes.
Matt tells PEOPLE he feels grateful to have a "life partner" in Ashley. "I found the person who makes me better, holds me accountable, but also helps me to have fun and enjoy life even more," he says. "Being married is special because you are a team and you are giving yourself to that person intimately and totally. When you can have that much trust in someone, it’s an amazing feeling."
"We’ve obviously been through a lot of changes in the last few years, and it hasn’t always been smooth sailing, but we’ve never had expectations for our partners in our heads that we didn’t express to them out loud," he adds. "That’s a huge strength of our relationship."
The couple plans to enjoy a short honeymoon in Nantucket before Matt leaves to join USMNT ahead of Copa América and a busy summer schedule of matches.

The duo, who also play each other's love interest in the western drama, tied the knot over the weekend at Harrison's family home in Dallas, Texas, the couple revealed in an interview with Vogue , published on Wednesday, adding that the dress code for their ceremony was cowboy black tie.
"From the start, Ryan and I just really wanted to create a day that wasn't just a series of events—but a heartfelt experience that centered around emotions, comfort, intimacy, and genuine moments with the people we love the most," Harrison told the outlet. "Every choice was a reflection of us, and getting to witness it all come to life was incredible."
Harrison said her dresses were inspired by the dress code.
"I actually found two wedding dresses I absolutely loved—a Galia Lahav and Netta BenShabu—and even experienced a bit of a last-minute panic moment trying to decide between the two," she shared. Does Violet Bridgerton Ever Remarry?
The Bridgerton matriarch's love life is a subplot of season three.
Every item on this page was chosen by a Town & Country editor. We may earn commission on some of the items you choose to buy.
Spoilers ahead for Bridgerton season three, part one .
Violet, famously, was married to Edmund Bridgerton in a love match. He died when Violet was pregnant with their eighth child, Hyacinth. In the Bridgerton books by Julia Quinn , Violet never remarries.
"I love her so much that I'm not sure I could create somebody good enough for her," Quinn said . "I think she's reached a point where she's an independent woman and she's happy. In that day and age, if she got married again, suddenly he'll get to be in charge of everything. I don't think she's ready to give that up." But could that be different in Bridgerton , the Netflix series? The series has already diverged from the books, so there's a chance that Marcus could be her love interest.
Additionally, there are rumors that another Bridgerton prequel could focus on young Violet , and her romance with Edmund, but they are just rumors for now.
"I'm always drawn to the side of a character that is vulnerable or in pain. That sounds dreadful, but I am," Gemell told Town & Country last year . "I find them really interesting to play. And I suppose also, because as much as we talk about things like love being a universal subject, grief is as well. I can't think of anyone I know who hasn't experienced grief and the complexities that go with that. The stages of grief are important to me, so I take them quite seriously."
