Since emerging in 2009, YG has projected the voice of the streets into the mainstream and ultimately left his mark as a rapper, actor, entrepreneur, designer, and philanthropist. The Compton native has surpassed 10 billion global streams, over a dozen multi-platinum, platinum and gold certifications, and countless honors. He’s the rare maverick who can stand arm-in-arm with protestors one day, appear on-screen next to an Academy® Award winner the next day, and preside over a fashion runway on another day. He has landed four consecutive Top 10 debuts on the Billboard Top 200. Among numerous anthems with social implications, Billboard christened 2016’s politically charged “FDT (F*** Donald Trump)” featuring Nipsey Hussle, one of the “Songs That Defined the Decade.”  In 2020, YG fought back again with the anti-racist “FTP,” of which Variety claimed, “If there’s a music video that captures the Black Lives Matter demonstrations of June 2020, it’s YG’s ‘FTP’.”  He joined the reunited Public Enemy and an all-star cast of collaborators for a show-stopping performance of “Fight The Power” at the BET Awards in 2020. “FTP” was one of five breakout single + video releases in 2020-2021 from YG’s critically acclaimed fifth studio album, My Life 4Hunnid (October 2020) which also included “Laugh Now, Kry Later!”; “SWAG,” “Equinox” featuring Day Sulan, and “Out On Bail.”

In October 2022, YG released his sixth studio album, I GOT ISSUES via Def Jam Recordings. The highly anticipated new album includes features from hip-hop heavyweights such as J. Cole, Post Malone, Nas, Roddy Rich and more. I GOT ISSUES is YG’s first studio album since My Life 4Hunnid (October 2020).  The album debuted at the top of the Rap Albums charts and top 5 on the Billboard 200 albums.

Simultaneously, YG remains a pillar of the community. He donated $100,000 worth of food from his restaurant Fishbone Seafood in honor of Juneteenth. Additionally, he founded the nonprofit 4Hundred Waze. Among various initiatives, the nonprofit provided $10,000 in PPE to Los Angeles families hit hardest by the COVID-19 pandemic residing in Emergency Crisis Housing. Plus, he built a platform for buzzing artists such as Day Sulan with his 4HUNNID label in partnership with Epic Records. The 4HUNNID brand also comprises a clothing line of the same name owned by YG. Infiltrating high fashion and occupying space in retailers such as Zumiez, and more, the line amplifies his impact. Not to mention, the accomplished actor graced the big screen in White Boy Rick with Academy® Award winner Matthew McConaughey.

YG Announces ‘Red Cup’ Tour In Support Of ‘I Got Issues’ Album

YG Announces ‘Red Cup’ Tour In Support Of ‘I Got Issues’ Album

YG  released his sixth studio album, I Got Issues , last month, and the Compton native is ready to take the project out on tour.

On Tuesday (October 25), YG announced he’ll be hitting the road next year for The Red Cup tour supporting his new album. The trek will start at the top of 2023 and has YG visiting 17 cities, including Los Angeles, New York City, Oakland, Detroit and more. Joining YG on the cross-country journey is Kalan.frfr, Day Sulan, OhGeesy and D3szn.

YG’s I Got Issues suffered several delays, but that didn’t stop fans from tuning into the album. The album, which was led by “Scared Money” featuring J. Cole and Moneybagg Yo and the Mary J. Blige-sampling “Toxic,” debuted at No. 12 and 18 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums and 200 chart, respectively.

The album rollout hasn’t been all good for YG, as he caught heat for the track “How to Rob a Rapper.” The song was released shortly after PnB Rock was murdered during a robbery in Los Angeles last month. YG stopped by the L.A. Leakers to defend his track and explain there was no connection to PnB’s death .

“I gotta say this, and ‘How to Rob a Rapper’ is not a diss,” YG clarified during a freestyle. “It’s just a message to these rappers: please be on yo shit.”

In a separate clip posted on Justin Credible’s Instagram page, YG elaborated on the making of “How to Rob a Rapper,” which he recorded way back during the COVID-19 pandemic when crime was skyrocketing in Los Angeles.

“‘How to Rob a Rapper’ is one of my favorite records because I got back to my storytelling bag,” he said. “I’m not glorifying what’s going on in the city, but bro, I’m from L.A. I got dead homies, friends behind this city. So I’m a talk about how it is. I ain’t sugar-coating nothing.”

The song samples 50 Cent’s scathing 1999 classic “How To Rob” and the media mogul saluted YG for flipping the song by posting a screenshot from the music video to his Instagram. “Yeah [eyes emoji] this shit hard,” the Queens legend captioned the post. “@Yg ‘How To Rob’ Check this shit out. Boom.”

YG dropped his sixth studio album I Got Issues last month. He released the first single "Scared Money" featuring J. Cole and Moneybagg Yo in February and followed up with other addictive singles like "Toxic," which samples Mary J. Blige's "Be Happy." YG had the streets talking with his controversial banger "How To Rob a Rapper" featuring D3szn and Mozzy . In the midst of the backlash that occurred following the death of PnB Rock , 50 Cent actually praised YG for dropping a refreshing version of his 1999 song "How To Rob." YG also turned heads with the outrageous video for his single "Run" featuring Tyga , 21 Savage and BIA . In the video, YG and Tyga channeled their inner Kardashian as they dressed up like Kim and Khloe to rob a bank. The song didn't end up on the album. Check out the full list of tour date below.
