'American Idol' Star Noah Thompson Is “So Excited” Over His Instagram News With HunterGirl

The American Idol winner is ready to meet more fans on the road.

Since ending their time on American Idol together, the ABC show's latest winner and runner-up have cheered each other on as they’ve embarked on new musical careers. The self-proclaimed best friends have continued performing together across the U.S. and are now teaming up for a handful of events this upcoming fall. Noah wasted no time sharing the news with American Idol fans on his Instagram.

“@huntergirlmusic and I are going out on tour!” he wrote on August 24. “These shows are gonna be awesome y’all. I am so excited to go out with one of my good friends and can’t wait to see everyone there.”

HunterGirl (whose real name is Hunter Wolkonowski ) shared a similar message on her own Instagram. The duo will make several stops along the way, including Ohio, Illinois, Kentucky and more.

“So excited to go on tour with one of my buddies, @noahthompsonmusic !!” she captioned the same promo poster. “I can’t wait to be on the road with my band, and have the chance to play new music that will be coming out soon. These shows are gonna be so much fun, and I hope to see y’all there! 🤠.”

Reacting to their joint career news, American Idol fans immediately started celebrating in the comments section. “Awesome! Salute to the DYNAMIC DUO! @huntergirlmusic,” one person wrote. “Love seeing the 2 of you doing it your way!!!!!!!! Keep spreading the joy!” another added. “Where do I buy tickets 😍😍,” a different fan said.

Most recently, Noah and HunterGirl performed at an event in Missouri. By the looks of a recent TikTok , it seems like they're up to their usual social media antics again, reminiscent of a previous boots video . We wouldn't be surprised if they posted other funny clips from the road soon.

TOUR KICKS OFF ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 27 IN COLUMBUS, OHIO

Reigning American Idol winner Noah Thompson and runner-up HunterGirl today announce their co-headlining tour, starting Thursday, October 27 in Columbus, Ohio . Tickets will go on sale this Friday, August 26 and are available for purchase on each of their sites HERE and HERE .

“I can’t believe a year ago, I was working construction, and now I’m announcing a tour with one of my closest friends, HunterGirl,” says Thompson. “HunterGirl and I met on Idol and became really close. We’ve stayed friends, and now we get to get out there on the road together. One of my favorite things to do is get up on stage and sing. I am literally living in my dream world.”

'American Idol' winner Noah Thompson, HunterGirl head out on tour. Here's what to know

If you missed reigning " American Idol " winner Noah Thompson earlier this year at the Kentucky State Fair, or you just want more of his music, the Kentucky native is setting out on an eight-city tour. And he won't be performing solo.

Thompson will be joined on tour by "American Idol" runner-up HunterGirl . Their co-headlining tour brings the duo to Lexington's Manchester Music Hall on Dec. 1.

The tour is a dream come true for Thompson, who was hanging sheetrock in his hometown of Louisa, Kentucky, prior to auditioning for "American Idol."

HunterGirl, who previously worked with veterans as a music therapist, is equally excited to be going on tour. 

"This past year has been one of the most incredible years of my life," HunterGirl said. "It is going to be so much fun being on tour with one of my good friends, Noah Thompson. I am excited to be on the road with my band and have the chance to play new music that will be coming out soon."

Both singers head out on tour with music that has reached No.1 on iTunes. Thompson's debut song, "One Day Tonight" is a catchy, romantic track racking up on-demand streams, averaging nearly 1 million per week.

He previously told The Courier Journal he is traveling back and forth between his home in Louisa and Nashville, Tennessee, and plans to release new music later this year.

Despite missing out on winning the "American Idol" title, HunterGirl's music career has taken flight since the show aired earlier this year. Her song "Red Bed," hit No. 1 on iTunes All-Genre and Country charts. She has been performing live shows and recently made her dreams come true when she performed at the Grand Ole Opry.

The duos 2022 tour kicks off Oct. 27 in Columbus, Ohio, and continues through Dec. 2 in St. Louis, Missouri.

American Idol Season 20 winner Noah Thompson just announced that he’s going on a co-headlining tour with runner-up HunterGirl later this year. The shows will kick off in October, with dates running into December.

On Wednesday, Noah and HunterGirl both announced the tour on their social media pages, with a list of dates starting with October 27 in Columbus, Ohio. They’ll also travel to Illinois, Missouri, Pennsylvania, Indiana, and Kentucky.

“I can’t believe a year ago, I was working construction, and now I’m announcing a tour with one of my closest friends, HunterGirl,” Noah said in a press release. “HunterGirl and I met on Idol and became really close. We’ve stayed friends, and now we get to get out there on the road together. One of my favorite things to do is get up on stage and sing. I am literally living in my dream world.”

Meanwhile, HunterGirl teased that she’ll be releasing new music soon, saying, “It is going to be so much fun being on tour with one of my good friends, Noah Thompson. I am excited to be on the road with my band and have the chance to play new music that will be coming out soon.” 

Pre-sale for tickets to the tour starts on Thursday, and public sale starts on Friday. Tickets are available through either of the singers’ sites, here and here .

The Singers Performed Together Earlier This Month

This tour won’t be the country singers’ first time performing together. Earlier this month, they both took the stage in Michigan . Before that, they performed at Whiskey Jam in Nashville, along with several other past American Idol stars, including Fritz Hager.

Noah was named the winner of Season 20 earlier this year, with HunterGirl coming in second place. Recently, Noah released a cover of Rihanna’s “Stay,” which he also performed during his time on the show.

Meanwhile, HunterGirl has been teasing new music on her social media, particularly a song called “Hometown Out of Me.” The singer has already shared more than on snippet from the track. Hopefully it will be released ahead of her tour with Noah.

American Idol season 20 winner Noah Thompson announced major career news after being dropped from his record label, 19 Recordings, last month . Noah, a then-20-year-old construction worker from Louisa, Kentucky, had no prior performing experience when he auditioned for American Idol . However, his friend, Arthur, signed him up for the show because he believed in his raw talent, and he knew that he'd never do it on his own. Noah ended up winning American Idol season 20 , but just two years later, he experienced a career setback when he was dropped from his record label.

"I have chosen to continue my career as an independent artist."

In a video posted to his Instagram page, Noah officially announced, "I have chosen to continue my career as an independent artist." He shared, "I feel like I've been writing some of the best songs of my career, and I really can't wait for ya'll to hear some of these new things that I've been working on."

One of the songs that Noah co-wrote, "Front Door Famous," will be released by country music superstar Luke Combs on Friday, June 14, on his new album Fathers & Sons . Noah concluded by saying, "I just wanted to let ya'll know that we're far from done. This is just the beginning. And I love y'all very much."

Luke's album is called fathers & sons.

In an Instagram post, Luke shared some more information about his new album, Fathers & Sons . His single, "The Man He Sees In Me" has already been released, and the full album comes out on Friday, June 14. The album includes 12 tracks. In addition to the single and Noah's song "Front Door Famous," the songs included on the album are "In Case I Ain't Around," "Huntin' By Yourself," "Little Country Boys," "Whoever You Turn Out To Be," "Remember Him That Way," "All I Ever Do Is Leave," "Plant a Seed," "Ride Around Heaven," "My Old Man Was Right," and "Take Me Out to the Ballgame."

In the caption of the post, Luke wrote, "I can’t wait for y’all to hear the full album next week and hope y’all love this project as much as I do." In the comments section, Noah expressed his excitement about Fathers & Sons , writing, "Cmon!!" ​​​​​​​ According to Genius , "Front Door Famous" was written by Luke, Noah, Robert Snyder, Blake Densmore, and Nick Columbia . American Idol season 18 winner Just Sam went back to busking in the New York City subways after taking home the crown, but they're now being mentored by Ja Rule. In addition, American Idol season 3 winner Fantasia Barrino was dropped from her record label, but she's since gone on to superstardom and has even created her own entertainment company, Rock Soul Productions.

In addition, being a country singer will definitely help Noah. Several American Idol country music singers have found tremendous success after the show . They include American Idol season 4 winner Carrie Underwood , season 10 winner Scotty McCreery and runner-up Lauren Alaina, season 5 finalist Kellie Pickler, and season 16 contestant Gabby Barrett. ‘American Idol’s HunterGirl Teases Tour With ‘Really Good Friend’ Noah Thompson (Exclusive)

Season 20 'American Idol' runner-up, HunterGirl, dished to HL about her friendship with winner, Noah Thompson, their upcoming tour and her brand new song, 'Hometown Out Of Me.'

It’s only been five months since  HunterGirl ended her journey on  American Idol , where she finished in second place, but she’s already making big moves in her country music career! Hunter will be dropping her song “Hometown Out Of Me” on Oct. 21, marking her first release since the show ended. Plus, at the end of October, she’s also hitting the road with  Noah Thompson , the winner of her season, and she dished all about it EXCLUSIVELY with  HollywoodLife .

Hunter and Noah have remained close friends since their time on the show ended, and she said that it’s been so special to have that as she’s navigated her newfound fame. “I was really blessed to be on a season where everybody was so close,” Hunter said. “Even from the beginning of auditions to the end. I was just so happy to have people. It’s scary going onto a TV show. I never thought I’d be on TV in my entire life. So I’m so excited for the tour with Noah coming up. It’s good to have a really good friend throughout this process and coming back and trying to figure out life again.

The bond between these two is so strong, in fact, that fans have even speculated that they might be dating. However, both Noah and Hunter have shut down the rumors. “My mom told me when I was little, ‘People are always going to say something,’ so I just kind of live my life [and ignore it],” Hunter admitted. “I am who I am. I’m just happy to have someone who’s a friend that I can count on. I definitely had that with so many other contestants, too.  Leah [Marlene] just moved to Nashville and I get to hang out with her, so it’s been a really incredible experience. I have friends I’m going to have forever.”

On the upcoming tour with Noah, Hunter said she plans on playing some new music, as well as songs from the EP she released before  Idol . She also teased some potential duets with Noah onstage, and said that the two are trying to work on a possible collaboration in the future. See more from our interview with Hunter below:

On “Hometown Out Of Me”: My hometown has just supported me so much throughout the show and since I was a little girl playing music. I went home the weekend after Idol and my mom and I went to the supermarket back home. I looked around and my mom goes, ‘Oh my gosh,’ and I look over and I go,’ Oh my gosh, it’s my face!’ My hometown bought newspaper ads congratulation me and cheering me on and I’m just trying not to cry in the supermarket. I got back to Nashville and the next week and I was like, ‘I’m writing a song about my hometown.’ So this is definitely how I wanted to introduce myself to the world and say thank you to my hometown.

On the most surreal part of life after the show: I remember when I was little I thought it’d be so cool if someone knew who I was when I was going to the store or something. So people recognizing me now has been surreal. I was at the airport and someone came up to me. My single coming out of the show was “Redbird,” and it was extremely personal to me, and they were talking about how it connected to them. That’s what I always wanted to do with music — help people. So that’s been cool. Sometimes I’m wearing a t-shirt and jogging pants and I’m looking pretty rough, but getting to hear stories from people is the best part.

On getting to work with Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie on the show:  Going in, I didn’t really know how much I’d get to talk to the judges. We actually got to talk to them a lot. Luke has been so awesome since the first audition, cheering me on and telling me to stay true to myself and keep working hard. Katy and Lionel were the same way. I got to meet Katy’s family on the show. Her little niece’s came and it was so cool. Getting all this positive reinforcement from people I’ve looked up to forever…little Hunter would have lost her MIND! It’s been a full circle year and I’m glad I got to experience that and get some words of wisdom from some of the biggest people in the music industry.

On what she’s working on next: Definitely more new music after this and playing so many shows, which I’m really excited about. I think I’m just working on my socials and trying to balance that and figure that out, too. I love staying engaged with everyone and showing them my journey. I definitely want to share my life with people and connect.

‘Idol’ Winner Noah Thompson Reveals Big Career News After Going Independent

T wo weeks after Heavy first reported that Noah Thompson had parted ways with 19 Recordings, the label he’d worked with since winning season 20 of “American Idol” in 2022, the country singer has confirmed to fans he’s now an independent artist.

In a video posted to Instagram on June 11, 2024, Thompson said he’d “chosen” the new direction, assuring fans he’s “far from done.” The 22-year-old musician also revealed that he co-wrote a song on country superstar Luke Combs’ new album, “Fathers & Sons,” to be released on June 14.

Many fans and friends expressed their excitement and relief. Before his latest announcement, many diehard Thompson fans had been concerned about him since he hadn’t shared any music updates since January.

Noah Thompson Says He’s ‘Excited’ About His Future

Thompson’s laid-back video was recorded outside as he sat on a porch and leaned in to give his fans “a little update.”

“I’m excited to officially announce that I have chosen to continue my career as an independent artist,” Thompson said. “I feel like I’ve been writing some of the best songs in my career. I really can’t wait for y’all to hear some of these new things that I’ve been working on. I’m gonna start teasing a lot of these new songs here very, very soon. So make sure y’all go and sign up for my text list in my bio.”

Thompson then shared that he was “very excited to announce that a song that I wrote is being released by Luke Combs next Friday, a song called ‘Front Door Famous.'” Combs’ surprise new album, per WBWN, is an ode to fatherhood, to be released ahead of Father’s Day, on June 14.

“Front Door Famous” is the first track on the album. According to MusicRow, Thompson — who is a dad to three-year-old Walker Lee, whom he shares with ex-girlfriend Angel Dixon — co-wrote the tune with Combs, Nick Columbia, Blake Densmore and Robert Snyder.

Thompson concluded his video by assuring his fans that he feels like his future is bright, telling them, “I just wanted to let y’all know that we’re far from done, and this is just the beginning and I love you all very much.”

Fans and industry friends were thrilled to hear his update and filled his post with encouraging comments. Season 18 “Idol” alum and rising country star Grace Leer wrote, “So freaking proud of you friend!! Can’t wait to cry my eyes out listening to front door famous”

Elissa Felman, SVP of 19 Recordings, commented with four applause emoji and other musician friends chimed in with celebratory messages.

Among the many fans who expressed their excitement, one wrote, “We will be waiting! Write your truth ! Your voice is amazing!”

Another commented, “Idol got you recognized. The rest is up to you❤️🙌”

What Has Noah Thompson Been Up To Since Winning ‘American Idol’?

Right after winning “Idol” in May 20, Thompson’s first single, “One Day Tonight,” soared to the number one spot on iTunes’ All Genres and Country charts, per a release from 19 Recordings, and the song continued to rack up an average of one million streams per week for months after.

He also released a duet version of the song with HunterGirl, who was his runner-up on “Idol.” They returned to the show together twice in 2023, appearing during the audition process in March and again that May to perform their duet.

In early 2023, Thompson moved to Nashville from his native Louisa, Kentucky, so he could devote himself full-time to songwriting and performing. He released his first EP, “Middle of Nowhere,” that June and spent most of the year touring.

After growing quiet unusually quiet on social media during the first several months of 2024, Heavy noted that Thompson had disappeared from 19 Recordings’ website. On May 20, a rep for the label confirmed to Heavy that Thompson was no longer on their artist roster.

Five days later, on May 25, a rep for the singer told Heavy via email, “Noah is currently in a transition period in his career but rest assured he is working on some of the best music of his career and will have lots of exciting announcements soon.”

Thompson’s next concert will take place at a festival in Harrodsburg, Kentucky, on June 14.

Lyles, mclaughlin-levrone and thompson-herah set to headline new york.

Global sprint champions Noah Lyles , Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone and Elaine Thompson-Herah are among the star performers heading to the USATF New York City Grand Prix on Sunday (9) for the second US-based World Athletics Continental Tour Gold meeting of the year.

In a week when the trailer for upcoming Netflix docuseries Sprint was released , more eyes than ever will be focused on the sport’s biggest sprint stars in the lead-up to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, where athletics will be the No.1 sport.

Lyles, one of the protagonists of Sprint, will bring his ‘main character energy’ to New York’s Icahn Stadium for what will be his first 200m of the season, having already impressed across a range of distances this year.

The multiple world champion took world indoor silver medals at 60m and 4x400m in March before anchoring USA to 4x100m at the World Relays in The Bahamas last month. More recently, he clocked a 100m season’s best of 9.85 in Kingston, the second-fastest time of his career behind the 9.83 PB he set to win the world title in Budapest last year.

Lyles has won the 200m at this meeting for the past two years, clocking 19.83 last year and 19.61 in 2022 – just 0.03 shy of the meeting record. The 26-year-old will be keen to make a statement on Sunday in a race that also includes his younger brother Josephus as well as world and Olympic finalist Joe Fahnbulleh, both sub-20-second performers.

McLaughlin-Levrone, the Olympic 400m hurdles champion, will contest her first 400m flat of the year. Like Lyles, she has also displayed superb form in other disciplines so far this year, clocking a 200m PB of 22.07 and running a world-leading 52.70 in her first 400m hurdles race of the season.

The 24-year-old won the 400m in New York last year in a meeting record of 49.51, then went on to reduce that PB to 48.74 to win the US title, but that also marked the end of her season as an injury ruled her out of the World Championships.

Now back to full fitness, McLaughlin-Levrone will take on a field that includes fellow US sub-50-second sprinters Quanera Hayes, Kendall Ellis and Talitha Diggs.

For Elaine Thompson-Herah, the only way is up in New York. The Jamaican, who won the 100m/200m sprint double at the past two Olympic Games, opened her season last month at the Wanda Diamond League meeting in Eugene, where she clocked 11.30 in the 100m to finish ninth – her lowest ever placing in a race.

But the 31-year-old tends to improve as the season progresses, so the chances are that she’ll run faster and finish higher up the field in New York.

World silver medallist Gabby Thomas will also be looking for a confidence-boosting run in the 100m. She had a promising start to her season, clocking a marginally wind-assisted 10.88 and following it with a 50.37 run over 400m, but more recently she finished fourth over 100m (11.42) and sixth over 200m (22.68) at the USATF Los Angeles Grand Prix.

Aleia Hobbs, who has twice run 10.88 this year, should start as the marginal favourite for the 100m as she gears up for the US Olympic Trials later this month.

Thomas will double up in the 200m later in the programme, where she’ll take on the likes of Tamara Clark and Jenna Prandini.

In the men’s 400m, three past winners of individual global titles will line up alongside three US athletes who’ve won global relay crowns.

World record-holder Wayde van Niekerk will be racing his first individual 400m of the year, having clocked 20.31 over 200m before representing South Africa at the World Relays last month. He’ll take on his predecessor as Olympic champion, 2012 winner Kirani James, who ran 44.58 in Oslo last week. Like Van Niekerk, 2022 world indoor champion Jereem Richards will also be racing his first outdoor 400m of the year.

Chris Bailey, Matthew Boling and Elija Godwin – all of whom are global relay medallists for the US – will carry the host nation hopes.

Elsewhere in the flat sprints, 2022 world champion Fred Kerley leads a men’s 100m field that also includes US compatriots Kendal Williams and Pjai Austin, Nigeria’s Udodi Onwuzurike and Jamaica’s Kadrian Goldson.

World record-holder Tobi Amusan goes into the 100m hurdles with the fastest season’s best of the field, having clocked a world-leading 12.40 in Kingston last month. But one week after running that time, she was beaten by former world record-holder Kendra Harrison, who will also be in New York.

It won’t be just a two-woman race, though. World indoor champion and record-holder Devynne Charlton and two-time world champion Danielle Williams are also in the line-up, as is USA’s Tonea Marshall.

In the men’s event, USA’s world medallists Trey Cunningham and Daniel Roberts take on sub-13-second performers Rasheed Broadbell of Jamaica and Cordell Tinch.

In the men’s 1500m, the longest event on the programme, 2022 world champion Jake Wightman takes on world road mile champion Hobbs Kessler. Australia’s Jesse Hunt and Ireland’s Luke McCann will ensure the race is a competitive one.

Elsewhere in the middle-distance events, the men’s 800m features Olympic champion Emmanuel Korir, 2016 Olympic 1500m champion Matthew Centrowitz, Australia’s Peter Bol, 2016 Olympic bronze medallist Clayton Murphy and the in-form Isiah Jewett.

In the women’s event, Sage Hurta-Klecker takes on US compatriots Ajee Wilson and Addy Wiley.

Davis-Woodhall looks to extend winning streak

US long jumper Tara Davis-Woodhall has been undefeated so far this year, indoors and out, and has jumped beyond seven metres in her past four competitions.

She jumped an outright PB of 7.18m to win the US indoor title, then struck world indoor gold with 7.07m. She opened her outdoor season with 7.16m, then went one centimetre farther to win in Atlanta two weeks later.

Jasmine Moore, a 7.03m performer at her best, and two-time world indoor finalist Quanesha Burks are also in the field.

World indoor champion Sarah Mitton takes on Olympic silver medallist in the women’s shot put, while world and Olympic finalists Daniel Haugh and Rudy Winkler clash in the men’s hammer.

Other global medallists in action in the field events include Jamaican long jumper Carey McLeod, US high jumper Vashti Cunningham, Cuban discus thrower Yaime Perez and Jamaican discus thrower Fedrick Dacres.

Stephen Thompson Says Farewell to Steelers Nation

Here it is, the end of an era. Friday was my last day with the FanNation Pittsburgh team. After two years of writing about the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pitt Panthers, I’ll be taking some time to myself. My next move is in the works, but right now all I will do is say goodbye to the organization that kick started my career. 

I was offered this job about two weeks before I graduated from Pitt, accepted it a few days later and began writing the day after I walked across a stage at the Petersen Events Center. What started as a few articles a day about random happenings with the Panthers quickly became a career covering some of the most influential teams and figures in this city. 

It was a tough decision to leave FanNation, where I was given the space to add a personal touch to my coverage while learning and growing as a professional. I am incredibly grateful for Noah Strackbein, who was the only person to offer me a job when I was coming out of school and pushed me to become better as we built the FanNation Pittsburgh brand into what it is today. He’s been a wonderful mentor and friend and I thoroughly enjoyed working for him the past two years because of his trust and support. 

I learned so much during my two-plus years working for Noah - how to write a decent headline, what kinds of stories matter, how to be a professional and more. He put his foot in the door, allowing me to help him cover the Steelers from Pittsburgh to Mobile, Alabama to snowed-in Buffalo and everywhere in between, all while making the space for me to embrace my passion for college sports. He’s put together a fantastic team that will only get better at covering this city’s teams as I leave. 

This job was a grind at many points but it’s easier to embrace that grind when you work with people that are serious about their work, fun to be around and enthusiastic about any opportunity to visit a practice, locker room or game. Hard work isn’t nearly as hard when surrounded by good people and it’s been my distinct pleasure to have been employed alongside some great people during this first stage of my career. 

Eventually, when you spend enough time in cars and airports, Air BnBs and press boxes, sidelines and scrums with someone, it’s impossible to not develop some kind of connection. The extensive hours I’ve spent with Noah on road trips and through the daily grind of covering multiple teams have been hours well spent and I cannot think of a better place for us to celebrate the beginning of exciting new chapters in both our lives than at his wedding. He’s been my boss for the past two years but a friend as well and I’ll cherish the partnership we had. 

I am eager for my next opportunity but this is a bittersweet occasion. These experiences have been invaluable and I’ll carry a little bit of black and gold with me wherever I go.

He primarily worked the Pitt men's basketball beat, and filled in on coverage of football, volleyball, softball, gymnastics and lacrosse, in addition to other sports as needed.
