Synopsis: Since her birth, Hua Qian Gu is considered an unlucky child because she attracts evil spirits and kills plants that she touches. mmmm..just by watching ep 1 the drama does not follow the book..the book fans will be quite disappointed…Ep 1 was okay, but I think the drama can do better. Just have to watch and see

LOL, your synopsis was so hilarious. I had to reread it again to check if it was legit.

I totally do NOT have the time to watch this — plus it’s not even a genre that I like (hate the sad stories, not super into the wuxia either)…BUT, everyone says the beginning is actually kind of fun (sidebar — isn’t that true for so many stories? Perfect Couple — Zhen Huan Zhuan — makes you wonder why someone can’t put together a good second half…), so I ended up watching it.

Watched the version on iQiyi that is uncut. Definitely folks should hold out for that version and not the Hunan TV cut version! Totally miss the entire birth of Hua Qian Gu with the cuts, I think — so who knows what else they cut!

Episode 1 & 2 thoughts: I like the complexity of Sha Qian Mo’s character — I’m bad, but I have principles. I didn’t quite get why Bai Zi Hua had to go down to earth for a few days…or why the other fairies were so upset when he agreed to take over the leadership position…? I thought the introduction of the girl pupil nemesis was kind of lame — 5 minute cameo. Why not just introduce her later when she’s actually important to the story? Don’t get the whole backstory with Jiang Xin’s character yet. Presumably they’ll explain it later, but right now her actions don’t make much sense. Liying’s outfits look soooo uncomfortably stuffy!

I was reading your blog and I agree about the makeup in this drama. It’s way too thick! ZLY has always been very pretty, so I think the caked on makeup and eyeliner really makes her look way older. I hope she’s not going to stick with that trend… The overly done eyebrows are super weird.

The overly done warpaint really bugs me because IMHO there’s no need for that for a cast who is mostly quite young and/or look pretty good themselves already. For example, Ancient Sword had strong makeup when the story called for it but was otherwise more subtle. That’s what I would’ve preferred for the cast of Hua Qiangu, especially for the likes of Wallace and Zhao Liying who are already very beautiful people!

Has anybody watched the Happy Camp episode with the cast yet? I loved the last game where Zhao Li Ying and Wallace Huo paired up! Wished it was longer, the episode ended too fast 🙁

I did! I will upload it later as well. Upset that they cut out the part where Li Ying was flung to the side. LOL. Such a rough game, they should have the cast changed to active clothes next time!

Yeah! I remember seeing it in the preview and was wondering where the scene went. Probably cut out because of the quite long introduction with those people making instrument sounds and showing behind the scenes of their new opening song/video.

OMG! I love that part when Zhao Li Ying cheated :P; it was cute. Did Zhang Danfeng said, “She pushed me.”?, and Zhao Li Ying was shaking her head like ” no I didn’t. I don’t know Chinese so idk what they were saying but the show was fun.

Hey guys, I was watching through the eps because I was bored and was waiting for the eps out today and all, and I was wondering if any you guys found the neck biting scene yet? I didn’t watch it all so I might have missed it but I looked around and I couldn’t find the neck biting scene that we caught a glimpse of in the first opening. So…. If it’s not so much trouble, can one of you guys who found it direct me to the episode? 🙂 Thanks.

Hey talkingaboutlove, im sorry to tell you that you did not miss the neck biting scene, but that they did not air it (it got cut out) bc of some censorship issues in china. basically, theres a committee call sarft that screens series and cuts out parts that are too violent (ie. neck biting- lots of blood) or religious. so theres a lot of anger around the forums bc sarft has been cutting out many parts in the drama 🙁

Thanks for telling me but I thought that these episodes were uncut hence I was looking for some vampire action. I heard that the dvd version will contain all of these scenes. Is the website going to post the dvd version or just the uncut aired version? hmm.. my understanding is that this is the fullest version available (ie. the uncut version). i THINK (and this is only my guess), its uncut in the sense that the producers and TV station didn’t make any cuts, but there is no control of SARFT bc thats government censorship. but i can say with confidence you won’t find the vampire kiss scene in any of the episodes airing now. theres rumors that yes, the dvd version will be fully uncut and include the censored parts.. but who knows. i think the general concensus is that sarft sucks.

Hahaha that’s true. Sarft sucks and I can’t wait to see them have a field day for Close Your Eyes Close to Me in October – all the body parts in jars and all. Lol – by the end of it, it wouldn’t even look like a crime drama 😀 😀 😀
