John Fogerty Kicks Off Tour With George Thorogood: Set Lists

John Fogerty kicked off his tour with George Thorogood with a concert in Simpsonvile, South Carolina on Sunday, June 2.

Though the rock legends have performed on the same stage at various events over the years, this summer trek, dubbed the Celebration Tour , marks the first time they’ve hit the road together.

“George and I have done shows together before, but for years we’ve talked about doing a full tour together,” Fogerty explained when the tour was announced. “This summer we decided time is short, we better do this now.”

The rockers didn’t waste time, each delving into various hits from throughout their respective careers. Fogerty’s headlining performance delivered such Creedence Clearwater Revival classics as “Bad Moon Rising,” “Born on the Bayou,” “Who’ll Stop the Rain” and “Fortunate Son.”

Other highlights in Fogerty’s set included his beloved solo hit “Centerfield,” and a couple of rarer tunes: “Mystic Highway” and “Change in the Weather,” the latter of which he hadn’t performed in concert since 2009.

Earlier in the evening, Thorogood ignited the crowd with a selection of his own hits – including “Get a Haircut” and “Bad to the Bone” – along with a select mix of covers, such as the Sonics’ “Shot Down” and the Strangeloves’ “Night Time.”

Set list for both performers can be found below.

From there, they’ll hit the ground running once more for a second American leg that lasts until September.

John Fogerty Announces Tour Dates With George Thorogood

John Fogerty  has announced new summer dates for his Celebration Tour, which marks the first time the former  Creedence Clearwater Revival  frontman has performed the songs since acquiring the rights to them early last year.

The tour also features opening support from George Thorogood & the Destroyers. The dates start on June 2 in Simpsonville, South Carolina.

While Fogerty and Thorogood have appeared on concert bills in the past, this summer's run of nearly 20 shows marks the first time they've gone on tour. "George and I have done shows together before, but for years we’ve talked about doing a full tour together," Fogerty said in a press release announcing the dates. "This summer we decided time is short, we better do this now."

Thorogood canceled some dates last spring to deal with a "very serious medical condition." He's since recovered and will launch a tour on April 5 before joining Fogerty on tour two months later.

Where Is John Fogerty Playing Shows in 2024?

After the Fogerty and Thorogood tour starts in early June, the shows will work their way through dates in Pennsylvania, New York and Connecticut. Fogerty will also play a few dates with this band without Thorogood as support. You can see the list of tour dates below.

The Celebration Tour is the first time Fogerty has performed his classic Creedence Clearwater Revival songs as the owner of them. He signed away the publishing rights to his work in 1967, the year the band signed to Fantasy Records.

Over the years he has fought with Fantasy owner Saul Zaentz, who sued Fogerty in 1985, claiming his solo hit "The Old Man Down the Road" sounded too similar to CCR's "Run Through the Jungle." Fogerty bought the publishing rights to his songs in early 2023, although Fantasy Records still owns the master recordings of Creedence's records.

Tickets for Fogerty and Thorogood's tour go on sale March 15 at 10 a.m. local time, with presale tickets available on Tuesday starting at 10 a.m. local time. You can find more information at Fogerty's website .

"We decided time is short, we better do this now!": John Fogerty announces tour with George Thorogood

George Thorogood & The Destroyers will mark their 50th anniversary by joining the North American leg of John Fogerty's Celebration tour

John Fogerty and George Thorogood perform at The Troubadour on October 12, 2015

John Fogerty has announced the North American leg of his Celebration tour. The Creedence Clearwater Revival man has 13 shows lined up in June, beginning on June 2 at the CCNB Amphitheatre at Heritage Park in Simpsonville, SC, and finishing at the Tanglewood in Lenox, MA, on June 20. Support at all dates will come from George Thorogood & The Destroyers.

“George and I have done shows together before but for years we’ve talked about doing a full tour together." says Fogerty. "This summer we decided time is short, we better do this now!”

"We are excited and honoured to announce we are joining our friend, the legendary John Fogerty on his Celebration Tour this summer!", says Thorogood. "Celebrating the music of John Fogerty at the same time we celebrate our 50th Anniversary is just about as good as it can get. I’m looking forward to being out there with my friend, John!"

Fogerty has also confirmed two American dates later in the year without Thorogood, at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, CO on August 26, and on September 11 at the Utah State Fair in Salt Lake City. Full dates below.

Fogerty's plans to take the Celebration tour to Australia were thwarted late last month, when organisers of Country Fest Queensland announced that he'd no longer be playing at the event , little more than a month after confirming him as headliner.

"Due to unforeseen circumstances, John Fogerty will no longer be attending our Country Fest QLD Lineup 2024 Event,” said organisers in a statement. “We are working hard on a revised line up and will have more information coming soon."

Fogerty responded with a statement of his own, expressing apparent confusion at the unexpected turn of events.

JOHN FOGERTY Continues His 'Celebration Tour' This Summer - Kicking off June 2nd

Article contributed by mad ink pr | published on monday, march 11, 2024.

john fogerty tour song list

Announced today, legendary rock musician John Fogerty continues his “Celebration Tour” this summer. This highly anticipated tour marks a significant milestone as it's the first time Fogerty is performing his songs since acquiring ownership of his extensive song catalog. Kicking off on June 2nd in South Carolina, this exhilarating journey will weave its way along the East Coast throughout June 20th in Lenox, MA.  Joining in the party as special guests are fellow ‘bad to the bone’ music icons, George Thorogood & The Destroyers and rock band, Hearty Har. The current tour schedule is below with more dates expected to be added soon.

Tickets go on sale starting Friday, March 15 at 10:00 AM local time with presale tickets available on Tuesday, March 12 at 10:00 AM local time.  More information can be found by visiting: JohnFogerty.com   Of touring for the first time with good friend Thorogood, Fogerty said, “George and I have done shows together before but for years we’ve talked about doing a full tour together. This summer we decided time is short, we better do this now!”   With George Thorogood echoing, “Celebrating the music of John Fogerty at the same time we celebrate our 50th Anniversary is just about as good as it can get.  I’m looking forward to being out there with my friend, John!"   As founder of Creedence Clearwater Revival, Fogerty’s career spans 50 years and he is hailed as one of the most influential musicians in rock history. As the writer, singer and producer of numerous classic hits including “Born on the Bayou”, “Green River”, “Proud Mary”, and “Bad Moon Rising”, Fogerty has been honored as one of the 100 Greatest Guitarists, 100 Greatest Songwriters, and 100 Greatest Singers by Rolling Stone. Earning induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Songwriters Hall of Fame, and Baseball Hall of Fame, he is also a New York Times best-selling author for his memoir, Fortunate Son: My Life, My Music. In January 2023 he regained control over his works, acquiring majority interest of his worldwide publishing rights from Concord. Currently on a worldwide Celebration Tour, Fogerty is now performing his classic songs, with his two sons, for the first time since owning his catalog of songs which have resonated with fans for over five decades.

On the evening of December 1st, 1973 at The University of Delaware’s Lane Hall, a guitarist, a drummer, and their rhythm guitarist set up on the small bandstand. Though the three-piece band had barely rehearsed, guitarist George Thorogood and drummer Jeff Simon had been bashing out covers of songs they loved – including ‘No Particular Place To Go’, ‘Madison Blues’ and ‘One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer’ – in suburban Wilmington basements since they were teens. The Lane Hall audience was wary at first. “Then it was like somebody flipped a switch,” Simon recalls. “Everybody hit the dance floor all at once.” Thorogood adds, “We had the place rockin’, from that very first show, Jeff and I knew we were onto something.” Five decades, 15 million albums and more than 8,000 performances later, few bands can still rock the house like George Thorogood & Destroyers. And for Thorogood, Simon, and long-time Destroyers Bill Blough, Jim Suhler and Buddy Leach, their Bad All Over The World – 50 Years of Rock Tour will be a celebration like no other.

Led by brothers Shane Fogerty (guitar/vocals) and Tyler Fogerty (guitar/vocals), the Los Angeles rock band Hearty Har formed in 2012 and quickly became known for their exciting and raucous live shows. Backed by Jesse Wilson (bass), Richard Millsap (drums), Nick Stratton (guitar) and Douglas Lamothe (keys), the band blends modern psychedelia with classic garage rock and roll. Imagine a neon lightning bolt extending from the stage and reaching deep into your heart, down to your feet, then through the ground to the Earth's core. Now you have an idea of Hearty Har's live show.   “We are incredibly excited to join John Fogerty and George Thorogood on tour! Hearty Har will open up every show with our own blend of rock and roll, and then join John as his backing band,” explains the band. “Get ready to rock out with us all summer!”

American roots rock icon John Fogerty is as beloved for his solo work as he is for his time with legendary swamp rockers Creedence Clearwater Revival. Included by Rolling Stone on both their 100 Greatest Guitarist and 100 Greatest Singers lists, Fogerty continued to assert his role as an enduring figure in rock music with the 2013 release of Wrote a Song for Everyone, his ninth solo album. Featuring collaborative interpretations of his most beloved songs performed with acts like Foo Fighters, Miranda Lambert, and Jennifer Hudson, the album peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and provided listeners a fresh new take on classics like “Bad Moon Rising” and “Born on the Bayou.” Fogerty rose to success with Creedence Clearwater Revival in the late ‘60s, achieving international fame in 1969 with hit single “Proud Mary” from Bayou Country. After the release of the band’s final album in 1972, Fogerty would release a series of critically-acclaimed solo albums, including 1997’s Blue Moon Swamp and 2008’s Revival, the former of which won a Grammy for Best Rock Album. On tour in 2013, Fogerty has been treating ticket buyers to extended renditions of his greatest hits, earning rave reviews for his infectious energy.

Awesome concert.

John Fogerty is the best! A show full of hits and played live with the usual perfection. John is a music legend and no one should die before seeing him perform live. Concert rated 10!

The postponement

Because of the postponement the tickets turned out to be a complete waste of money as we could not go the rescheduled show

A fantastic CCR Revival

John Fogerty was glad to have his songs and he showed it on stage. He played the CCR hit songs that everyone has been waiting years to hear. And everyone was loving it song after song. And he was very personable on stage explaining a lot of his joy. The place rocked and everyone was having a good time. I felt very fortunate to see this show!!!!!

Amazing performance!

John Fogerty played with such emotion and joy in his first concert since gaining the rights back to his music. What an experience! One of the top concerts I’ve been too!

Many times going to a concert where the star has been around for 50+ years the voice quality is not great. John Fogerty’s voice was on point and his guitar riffs were amazing. Being able to see him perform with his sons was great! The fact that he now owns his songs is well deserved for someone who has written so many true classic rock songs. A truly talented musician!

Awesome Show

So happy John Fogarty finally got the rights back for his music. He performed almost all of his hits and also had both of his sons performing with him on stage. One of the best shows I have seen in recent years.

The Great Legend - John Fogerty

This man can still ROCK!!! He was fantastic with his short stories about the songs he wrote. Our show was rescheduled by one night due to a storm, which he acknowledged and we all rocked out to "who'll stop the rain". Huge shout to the SOUND, LIGHT and VIDEO team. GREAT JOB GUYS!! Thank you!! The Stage at Coconut Creek Seminole Casnio is a very well thought out venue and super friendly and efficient staff.

John Fogerty was great, played all the favorites and was good as ever.

One of the best!

1. They moved the concert to the following night due to a rain deluge instead of enforcing the Rain or shine policy. KUDOS! 2. First time at this venue. Not bad as long as the weather is good. 3. Excellent concert with almost every song one of his hits. Love the fact it was his music he wrote, and he was performing along with his 2 sons in his band. He is a iconic musician and performer.

John Fogerty

John Fogerty is a true American treasure. As the leader of Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR), Fogerty forged a distinctive, groundbreaking sound all his own, equal parts blues, country, pop, rockabilly, R&B, swamp boogie, and Southern fried rock ‘n’ roll, all united by his uniquely evocative lyrical perspective. Fogerty is a Grammy winner and has been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as well as the Songwriters Hall of Fame. He is the only musician to be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame for his song, “Centerfield,” a staple at baseball stadiums across the country. Among Fogerty’s many hit songs, which have sold over 100 million records, both as a solo artist and as leader of CCR, highlights include “Proud Mary,” “Susie Q,” “Fortunate Son,” “Born on the Bayou,” “Bad Moon Rising,” and “Have You Ever Seen the Rain,” among many others.

In 2019, Fogerty celebrated 50 years in music with a worldwide tour with his show, “My 50 Year Trip.” An album, 50 Year Trip: Live at Red Rocks, featuring a collection of Creedence Clearwater Revival hits, including songs from the set list of his performance at the legendary Woodstock music festival in 1969 among other fan favorites, was released on November 8, 2019.

In April 2020, while self-quarantining together the Fogerty Family – featuring John with his sons Shane, Tyler, and daughter Kelsy – gathered in their home studio to play some music together. A weekly video series began and became so popular that a digital EP, Fogerty’s Factory, was released via BMG on Fogerty’s birthday, May 28, 2020. An extended Fogerty’s Factory full album was released on November 20, 2020. In December of that year, Creedence Clearwater Revival’s Chronicle Vol. 1 hit the milestone of charting for more than 500 weeks on the Billboard 200, becoming only the eighth album to ever do so. In early January 2021, Fogerty released his first new original solo music in eight years, “Weeping in The Promised Land.” The song is Fogerty’s definitive look back at 2020, ultimately serving as a moving tribute to those who had been affected by the pandemic, as well as those who have suffered through prejudice and injustice, with an eye on brighter days ahead.

Fogerty recently partnered with Concord on the official release of Creedence Clearwater Revival At The Royal Albert Hall on the label’s Craft Recordings. More than 50 years after the legendary 1970 show, the original multitrack tapes were meticulously restored and mixed by GRAMMY®-winning producer Giles Martin and engineer Sam Okell. The accompanying documentary takes viewers from CCR’s earliest years together in El Cerrito, CA through their meteoric rise to fame, and is the only concert footage of the original CCR lineup to be released in its entirety.

In 2023, Fogerty, the composer of iconic songs that have inspired generations – “Proud Mary,” “Down on the Corner,” “Fortunate Son,” “Bad Moon Rising,” “Have You Ever Seen the Rain,” among many others – acquired a majority interest of the worldwide publishing rights to his historic song catalog from Concord. The compositions have been both a decades-long dream and a personal mission for John. For years, the copyrights to Fogerty’s classic songs were the property of Saul Zaentz, the owner of Fantasy Records, who sold the label and its publishing portfolio to the former Concord Music Group in 1995. Fogerty, who extricated himself from Fantasy in 1974, re-signed with the label upon its purchase by Concord. Even so, he was not able to gain ownership of his songs – until now.

“As of this January, I own my own songs again. This is something I thought would never be a possibility. After 50 years, I am finally reunited with my songs. I also have a say in where and how my songs are used. Up until this year, that is something I have never been able to do. I am looking forward to touring and celebrating this year! I want to thank Concord for helping to make all of this happen. And, I am excited for new ideas and a renewed interest in my music … like a revival,” said John Fogerty.
