Jalandhar was formerly known by the name Prasthala in the Mahabharatha and was renamed to Jullundur during the British rule. The city along with the Pakistan acquired Multan are the 2 oldest cities in Punjab . The region surrounding the city is known as Jalandhar Doab which marked the eastern territory of the kingdom of Alexander the Great. Today Jalandhar is a prime commercial center with several industries. Jalandhar is situated on the Grand Trunk Road and before the arrival of Sikhism Hinduism was the main religion followed here. 1. Imam Nasir Masjid

The precise location of the museum is at Khatkar Kalian which is the ancestral village of Bhagat Singh. His mother got angry and asked him to repeat her words three times while drowning in the pond. As he was repeating the words, he dived in the water and was never seen again. The Samadhi of Baba Sodal has his painted portrait with garlands and is a place of worship. There is also a tank named Baba Sodal-da-Sarovar in which the pilgrims take a holy dip. In the month of September every year, a fair takes place at the Samadhi. This gurudwara was built by the fifth Sikh Guru, Guru Arjun Devji in 1656. It is located in Kartarpur, which is around 16 kilometres from Jalandhar and has huge significance for the Sikhs. In fact, every year devotees visit this gurudwara in huge numbers on the birth anniversary fair of the Guru.

9. Saint Mary’s Cathedral Church

It was built in 1947 by Rev. Fr. John McDonnell and was managed by different chaplains who had been appointed by the Diocese of Lahore to Jalandhar. After the partition, the Catholic Mission of Indian Punjab in 1955 was raised to Apostolic Prefecture status with its headquarters in Jalandhar. Thereafter, the church in Jalandhar cantonment became the Cathedral of the Mother of the Churches of Punjab. The old church was demolished in 1987 and the foundation of the new one was laid. This new church was blessed by Pope John Paul II and it was graced by Archbishop Jose Sanchez who was the special delegate of Pope John Paul II. It was inaugurated by Archbishop Agostino Cacciavillan, the Vatican Ambassador. Then, in 1989 the Apostolic was announced and Archbishops and Bishops from across the country had attended it.

It was built by the Nawab of Sultanpur Lodhi. The story behind the making of this temple is that the nawab eyed a newly married Hindu girl and when he tried to make her an object of his lust, she was rescued by a serpent. The girl was a devotee of Lord Shiva and the nawab was shocked to see a serpent. He begged mercy and later got this temple built. Location: The Gujral Science City is located in the west of Jalandhar on the Jalandhar-Kapurthala road.

Timings: The Gujral Science City is open 365 days a year and is open from 9 am to 6 pm. The ticket counter closes at 5 pm.

Entry Fees: The entry fees is INR 195 for adults and INR 130 for children. It must be noted that there are additional fees for checking out the different sections of Science City.

Best time to visit: The best time to visit Pushpa Gujral Science City is during December, January, and February. The weather is pleasant and exploring the Science City becomes much easier and interesting.

Timings: The water park is closed during the winter and remains open for the remainder of the year. The park is open all days of the week. The Dry Park is open from 9 am to 10 pm while the Water Park is open from 12 pm to 8 pm.

Entry fees: Children below 3 feet have free entry. There are two types of passes for entering the park. There is the yearly pas which costs INR 1200 per head. With this pass, the user can enter the park twice at any time of the year.  There is the Economy pass which costs INR 950 for access to both the Water and Dry parks.

Best time to visit: Summer is the best time to visit Wonderland to let off some steam.

Things to do there: There are a lot of water rides, slides, and party places in the park to enjoy. With all these water-based activities, there is never a dull moment in the park.
