The Grand Tour Presents: Lochdown: release date, trailer and new episodes explained

What we know about the show's Scotland and Russia specials

The Grand Tour

The Grand Tour season 4, episode 3 is coming on July 30, Amazon has confirmed – and it'll take co-hosts Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May to Scotland in a special called Lochdown. The episode was actually filmed in 2020, mid-pandemic, so hopefully we won't have to wait too long to see it. The special will imitate the feeling of an American road trip – without actually requiring the British hosts to leave their country.

There's a first trailer for The Grand Tour Presents: Lochdown, too, which you can see below.

There's more good news if you're a fan of The Grand Tour Presents: a new episode has been filming this year in Wales and parts of England like Warwickshire. This dovetails with what James May said in an interview last year about filming more episodes closer to home in an effort to release them more regularly. Given how languid the releases have become lately – a year separated the release of the last two specials, Seamen and A Massive Hunt – that will come as a relief.

Below, we'll tell you everything we know about the future of The Grand Tour Presents on Amazon Prime – including details about the Scotland-based Lochdown special, what we know about the new UK episode as it films, and what happened to the lost Russia special that was originally set to follow A Massive Hunt.

The Grand Tour Presents: Lochdown release date is July 30, 2021

The next special in The Grand Tour Presents series is called Lochdown – and it just got a release date of July 30 on Amazon Prime Video. Check out the trailer in the section below for confirmation.

That's not all that's coming from Clarkson and pals in the foreseeable future, though.

As of April 2021, another special for The Grand Tour was filming in the UK – the three hosts were spotted filming in Llandrindod Wells, Wales, by The Grand Tour Fans YouTube channel . They were each driving classic French cars, which hints a little at the theme for the episode. Jeremy Clarkson was apparently spotted driving a Citroën CX Break, James May was glimpsed in a Renault Avantime, while Richard Hammond was reportedly in a Matra Murena, according to the channel. Later, the hosts were spot in Leamington in England, filming near a retail park.

That episode seems like it's probably a while away, though. Let's go through what we know about the Lochdown special's filming, first. A first teaser for that episode was released on social media earlier this year – Clarkson describes the special as The Grand Tour 'unplugged'.

Earlier plans to record an episode in Russia were put on-hold because of the pandemic (see below) – so the Lochdown special was filmed in Scotland across nine days earlier in 2020 instead.

"We did it in area of Scotland with not many people," co-host James May told BT . "We didn’t interact with the locals really. There were complicated systems set up for cleaning everything and it was a bit tiresome going through lots of procedures and being tested every day, but it didn’t get in the way of filming to be honest."

The hosts couldn't go to the pub after filming the episode, which must've been a challenge.

While it might be a long wait until the trio and their crew can head to more exotic locations, the intent is to keep making episodes in locations where it's easier to pull off – hence why a Wales-filmed special probably makes sense. "In the short term we might have to reduce our travel ambitions and we’ll have a better chance of doing it," May says. "Better to film in the UK and deliver regularly than promise the earth and not deliver anything. The Grand Tour may become a little more domestic. But it will still be us three which is the important thing. And cars."

That bodes well for the future – and who knows, maybe we'll start seeing episodes of The Grand Tour season 4 land more regularly than once every year again.

The Grand Tour Presents: Lochdown trailer

Och aye the new trailer for The Grand Tour Presents... #Lochdown is here pic.twitter.com/0eobci0wpL July 15, 2021

Check out the trailer for The Grand Tour Presents: Lochdown above, which was released in July 2021.

To film the upcoming Scotland special during the pandemic, the crew formed a bubble, and no one caught Covid-19 during the shoot. It was reported that the hosts were seen driving classic American cars from Edinburgh to the Hebrides – which suggests some kind of Route 66-style road trip element.

Clarkson was seen driving a blue Lincoln, May was seen driving a red Cadillac, and Hammond was seen in a green Buick. The trio also took part in a drag race on a runway somewhere in south Scotland, for which the cars mentioned were apparently modified, and were seen towing caravans at one point too.

May says that being a bit closer to the home for the hosts doesn't matter that much – after all, viewers on Amazon Prime Video could be watching it from anywhere. "If you're watching The Grand Tour from Sri Lanka, Scotland is as exotic and beautiful as Sri Lanka is from Scotland, so there's always going to be a large part of the audience which finds anywhere in the world fascinating."

And hey, anything that gets the hosts to film new episodes faster seems like a good thing.

The Grand Tour season 4 Russia special: what we know

Yes, the next Special will land later this year.Yes, it’s filmed in Madagascar and yes, there will be cars.Yes, we wanted to go to Russia. No, we couldn’t (we all know why).Yes, we will try again. No, we don’t know when.Yes, we will keep you updated.#TheGrandTour July 7, 2020

The next planned episode for The Grand Tour Presents was meant to take the hosts to Russia – and this is still the idea, one day. It's just been postponed for now due to the pandemic. James May says that lots of preparation has been made for this special, but that it's "just impossible right now". Hopefully, with the incoming wave of vaccines, that might be able to change in future – but it seems unlikely you'll see a Russia special of The Grand Tour at any point in the next year or so.

After the next UK special, though, Clarkson did confirm the plan was to film abroad – they're just not sure where yet.

The Grand Tour Scotland ‘Lochdown’ Special Release Date, Trailer Unveiled by Amazon Prime Video

Clarkson, hammond, and may set off during the pandemic in season 4 episode 3..

The Grand Tour Scotland ‘Lochdown’ Special Release Date, Trailer Unveiled by Amazon Prime Video

Richard Hammond in The Grand Tour season 4 episode 3

  • The Grand Tour Scotland special release date is July 30 on Prime Video
  • Filmed in Scotland during lockdown because of COVID-19 restrictions
  • The Grand Tour season 4 episode 3 comes 7 months after episode 2

The Grand Tour will return on July 30, Amazon Prime Video has announced, with a new trailer for “The Grand Tour Presents: Lochdown”, the third feature-length special part of The Grand Tour season 4. In it, the former Top Gear trio of Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May get in classic American cars and take off for Scotland. For those wondering why they aren't in a more non-British exotic place — such as Cambodia/ Vietnam for episode 1, or Madagascar for episode 2 — that's because The Grand Tour's Scotland special was shot filmed during the COVID-19 lockdown. Hence the pun “Lochdown” in the title, referencing the Irish word for lake — and the famous Loch Ness.

Still, May promises “the most beautiful drive we have ever done” in the two-and-a-half-minute long trailer for The Grand Tour season 4 episode 3 “Lochdown”. And you can't argue with that, given the sneak peek at the vistas that we see in The Grand Tour Scotland special trailer. Of course, things are not going to be smooth sailing. Their classic (read: old) cars will naturally give them a lot of trouble, be it boiling engines or the struggles of getting out of them. Or just even basic turning abilities. The “Lochdown” trailer reveals that Clarkson, Hammond, and May will also keep switching cars throughout the new The Grand Tour episode.

And what are they up to? As Clarkson says in The Grand Tour Scotland special trailer, they have to build a bridge to ...somewhere in Outer Hebrides. The “Lochdown” trailer ends with May's car stuck on said bridge, with Clarkson about to use his patented use-all-the-power strategy to give him a push. You know, as well as I do, how's that going to go. Elsewhere, there's Hammond crashing his RV (expected), playing pranks on someone else's RV (what can go wrong?), and being applauded by Clarkson, May, and the masked crew for doing something stupid, it seems.

After airing 38 episodes across three seasons between 2016 and 2019, The Grand Tour has really slowed down its production as it has moved away from the hybrid studio and outdoors format. Amazon has expanded its deal with the trio, which includes new solo shows (Our Man in Japan for May, Clarkson's Farm for Clarkson, and The Great Escapists for Hammond). Starting with season 4 , The Grand Tour is now only about feature-length specials. The first of them, “Seamen” aired in December 2019, followed by the second “A Massive Hunt” in December 2020.

Here's the official synopsis for The Grand Tour Presents: Lochdown from Amazon :

Confined to the UK by Covid, Jeremy, Richard and James embark on a Lockdown Special to celebrate the great 70s American cars they saw in TV shows as kids, and to find out just why it was, given their Dads were all driving terrible Austin Allegros, that these amazing vehicles never took off in Britain. At the wheel of a Cadillac Coupe De Ville as driven by Elvis, a Lincoln Continental as driven by Jock Ewing of Dallas fame, and a Buick Riviera as piloted by Clint Eastwood, the three hosts take their iconic Detroit machines on a road trip across the stunning scenery of Scotland. And even though they are on home turf this lockdown journey turns out to be one of their funniest, most action packed and most charming adventures in years. Along the way they cause chaos on the ancient streets of Edinburgh, enjoy a hilarious, tyre torturing, high octane showdown with Abbie on the racetrack, before heading off to stage an epic Cold War shootout between the worst Soviet and American cars ever made. They also find themselves homeless in the Highlands after a series of housing-based crash bang wallop catastrophes, but still find time to use classic muscle cars to put an infamous Pizza Express journey to the test. After receiving a text from Mr Wilman, Richard, James and Jeremy modify their cars and head to the Outer Hebrides for one of their toughest challenges yet. At the far reaches of Scotland, they must build a homemade floating bridge across the Hebridean sea, capable of supporting them and their massive cars on a perilous journey to their final destination.

The Grand Tour Presents: Lochdown premieres July 30 on Prime Video worldwide. The previous episode released a day early so I'd keep an eye on the app from July 29.

  • Trivia The pontoon bridge constructed by the National Pontoon Adventure Consultancy with some assistance from Clarkson, May and Hammond spanned around 1,000 feet from the coast near Griminish, North Uist to the nearby uninhabited tidal island of Vallay. The "spiky building" Clarkson suggests visiting with Hammond - supposedly the site of the fictitious town of Hammondsburg - is in real life Taigh Mòr, which in English means "Big House". The well-appointed Edwardian mansion boasted running water piped in from North Uist as well as fireplaces in every room. It was built in 1905 for Scottish textile manufacturer, historian and landscape photographer Erskine Beveridge, one of the heirs to the estate of an internationally-renowned tableware manufacturer. After his passing in 1920, the property was inherited by his son George, who drowned in 1944 while attempting to make the crossing from North Uist to Vallay at high tide. With no heirs, the mansion was abandoned soon after his death and its staff dismissed. In the three-quarters of a century since it has gradually become a ruin, and its story has been documented by Scottish-Indian writer, musician and academic Arun Sood, whose grandmother Katie MacNaughton was one of the last to leave the island.

The trio then landed at Prime, where they continued their motoring adventures on “The Grand Tour.” In a podcast interview earlier this summer, May reflected on their decades-long journey. “I recorded today the last piece of voice-over I will ever record for ‘The Grand Tour’ – and therefore in that whole legacy of ‘Grand Tour,’ ‘Top Gear’ and the few things I did before that,” he said. “We’ve done it for nearly 22 years – a lot longer than we thought we would. I thought, when I started doing it in 2003 or 2004, that this was a bit of a laugh. Maybe it’ll last a few years. And, here we are, grey and wizened and sagging. And we’ve only just stopped doing it. It’s quite remarkable.”

Morfydd Clark as Galadriel in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power

It’s been two years since The Lord of the Rings : The Rings of Power first premiered on Amazon Prime Video , and the series is now back for season 2.

As the release date nears, fans are curious to find out where the tale set in Middle-earth will go next, as the menacing Sauron grows in strength and the Rings of Power are created.

Many of the original cast members are returning to reprise their roles, including Morfydd Clark as Galadriel, Robert Aramyo as Elrond, Charlie Vickers as Halbrand (aka Sauron) and Sophia Nomvete as Disa.

There are also some new additions to the cast, including Game of Thrones actor Ciarán Hinds as the Dark Wizard.

So when’s the second season of Rings of Power being released and what time can you watch the new episodes? Here’s everything you need to know.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is returning for its second season almost two years after its first was released on Prime Video.

To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video

Season two will consist, yet again, of eight episodes, with the first three coming out on the same day on Thursday August 29.

The rest of the episodes will then be released on a weekly basis, with the finale streaming on Thursday October 3.

The previous season aired from early September until mid-October in 2022.

When is The Rings of Power season 2 episode 1 UK release time?

Each episode of Rings of Power is set to be available to watch on Prime Video from 8am BST, which would be midnight Pacific Time in the US, and 3am Eastern Time.

So – chances are you might have to wait until your lunch break or until you’ve finished work for the day to catch up on the latest episodes.

Be wary of spoilers on social media before you have a chance to catch up!

Where was The Rings of Power filmed?

While the Lord of the Rings film trilogy was famously filmed in New Zealand , only the first season of Rings of Power followed suit.

For the second outing, the action-packed fantasy show relocated its production to the UK.

In an interview with Deadline , Vernon Sanders, the head of global TV at Amazon Studios, promised that there were ‘expansive things happening in season two’ as the show ventured to ‘new lands’.

‘Part of the benefit of being in the UK is that we’re going to be able to shoot in places that look very different than what we saw in season one,’ he said.

‘We’re able to shoot all across Europe, and we will see some of that production value on screen.’

How many Rings of Power were made?

At the very beginning of Lord of the Rings, Cate Blanchett ’s character Galadriel – who’s played by Morfydd Clark in Rings of Power – tells the tale of the ‘forging of the Great Rings’.

‘Three were given to the Elves, immortal, wisest and fairest of all beings. Seven to the Dwarf-Lords, great miners and craftsmen of the mountain halls. And nine, nine rings were gifted to the race of Men, who above all else desire power,’ she says.

‘For within these rings was bound the strength and the will to govern each race. But they were all of them deceived, for another ring was made.

‘Deep in the land of Mordor, in the Fires of Mount Doom, the Dark Lord Sauron forged a master ring, and into this ring he poured his cruelty, his malice and his will to dominate all life.

‘One ring to rule them all.’

So in total, 20 Rings of Power were created – but as fans know, the One Ring was the most dangerous and powerful.

"The Grand Tour" reaches the end of the road on Sept. 13

Viknesh Vijayenthiran

  • James May, Jeremy Clarkson, and Richard Hammond will finally disband
  • The trio's final episode of "The Grand Tour" airs on Sept. 13
  • The trio have worked together for 22 years

After eight years together on Amazon Prime's “ The Grand Tour ,” Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May are about to hit the road for one final time.

And for many fans, the time spent watching the trio goes back to the early 2000s, when they formerly hosted “Top Gear.” In total, Clarkson, Hammond, and May have hosted car shows together for a period spanning 22 years .

The final episode of the The Grand Tour starring the trio will be streamed on Sept. 13 . It will be a one-off special, and from the looks of a teaser trailer released on Thursday, there will be a variety of locations.

Amazon hasn't said whether the show will continu e with new hosts, like Top Gear has. However, a social media post by Clarkson last year indicated that the show will indeed end after 2024. He said at the time, “no more Grand Tour after [2024].”

The Grand Tour first appeared on Amazon Prime in 2016 but went on hiatus after 2021 due to difficulties in filming new episodes caused by pandemic-related travel restrictions, resulting in only five seasons being filmed over the eight years, with the final two seasons each containing only four episodes. Amazon Prime originally snagged Clarkson for the show, together with Hammond and May, after Clarkson was fired from the BBC due to his 2015 attack on a fellow Top Gear staff member.

The Grand Tour proved to be a hit on Amazon Prime, which led to all three hosts getting standalone shows on the streaming service. They include “Clarkson's Farm” which provides snippets of Clarkson's life on his farm in the Cotswolds. Hammond's show is called “The Great Escapists,” and features both him and Tory Belleci as as fictionalized versions of themselves, and May has the show “James May: Our Man in…,” a travel show where May focuses on adventures across a single country per season.

Final Round at AIG Women’s Open Promises Thrilling Finish at St Andrews

Nelly Korda and Lilia Vu

ST ANDREWS, Scotland — It’s still anyone’s ballgame through 54 holes at the AIG Women’s Open, and Sunday’s finish promises to be one of the most thrilling of the 2024 LPGA Tour season.

Two-time AIG Women’s Open winner Jiyai Shin currently leads the way by one shot over defending champion Lilia Vu, with Nelly Korda sitting two behind at 5-under. Olympic gold medalist Lydia Ko is lurking at 4-under alongside Jenny Shin, and a quartet of players ended day three in a tie for sixth at 3-under, including 2023 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship winner Ruoning Yin.

Jiyai Shin might be unfamiliar to some, but she often plays well in major championships. She finished in a tie for 23rd at The Chevron Championship in April and was in the top three of two major championships last season, tying for second at the U.S. Women’s Open at Pebble Beach Golf Links and then coming solo third at the AIG Women’s Open at Walton Heath Golf Club.

Before giving up her LPGA Tour membership in 2014 after joining the organization in 2009, Shin had earned eight top-10 finishes in major championships in addition to her two victories at the AIG Women’s Open in 2008 and 2014. She also finished solo sixth at the U.S. Women’s Open in 2007 at Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club as a non-member.

So, it isn’t a shock that Shin finds herself in this position at one of the biggest tournaments of the year. And considering her past history with this major championship, she just might wind up claiming her third AIG Women’s Open title at St Andrews, a title she has come close to nabbing on a few different occasions since winning her last LPGA Tour event in 2013.

Shin will go in the final pairing at 2:15 p.m. local time with Vu, who is working to successfully defend a title for the first time in her LPGA Tour career. The California native triumphed last season at Walton Heath Golf Club in Surrey, England, defeating home-country hero Charley Hull by six shots just down the road from where the Englishwoman grew up.

Vu looked unflappable during Saturday’s third round, handily recovering from a bogey on 12 and double-bogey on 13 by making three birdies in her final five holes, including one on the closing par 4 at the Old Course.

Vu is a player who relishes the challenge of the difficult conditions that major championships provide and could very well ride that grit and tenacity into the winner’s circle at the Home of Golf, becoming the first player since Yani Tseng in 2011 to capture back-to-back victories at this tournament. But she hasn’t stressed herself with the pressure of what doing something like that would mean for her career at large.

“I don't think it weighs on my shoulders,” said Vu when asked about the anxieties that come with defending a major title. “I think I came into the week with a good mindset that it's a new week. Just going to show up the same way I do every single week, trying to play my best and beat the golf course.”

Vu’s fellow American Korda has been a bit of a conundrum as of late, winning six times in seven starts in the spring and then missing her next three cuts in June, two of which were at the U.S. Women’s Open and the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. She has seemingly righted the ship this week at St Andrews, however, opening with a pair of 68s in the first two rounds to lead through 36 holes. A 3-over 75 on Moving Day derailed Korda a bit, leaving her two shots behind Jiyai Shin with 18 holes to play in Scotland, but the 14-time LPGA Tour winner is never to be counted out when a title is there for the taking.

While many have questioned Korda’s dodgy results as of late, the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings No. 1 has done her best to keep her expectations in check and keep moving forward, knowing that she is more than capable of getting back to her winning ways that saw her make history in the early half of the season.

Lydia Ko is another player to continue keeping an eye on. She hasn’t won a major title since 2016 but has been playing free and easy after automatically qualifying for the LPGA Hall of Fame when she captured the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, a career-long dream finally realized for the 27-year-old superstar.

The 20-time LPGA Tour winner has posted three under-par scores over the first 54 holes, and another steady effort could be all she needs to contend for her 21st Tour title on Sunday at St Andrews.

With all of those big names contending, don’t forget about the host of other players in the mix who could become first-time major winners at the Home of Golf, a list that includes the likes of Jenny Shin, Jeeno Thitikul and Alexa Pano.

But a spectacular effort will be needed to overcome the elements that have once again decided to rear their ugly heads on Sunday afternoon, and it will likely be a photo finish to see who can steel themselves and survive the unforgiving Scottish weather all while taming the beautiful beast that is a windy, rainy Old Course in the final round.

And come the end of play, a new chapter of history will ultimately be authored at the Home of Golf.

Who will be left holding the pen? Now that is anyone’s guess, an outcome even the winner herself won’t know until the race comes to its formidable conclusion.

Former champion Raducanu 'sad' and 'down' after US Open exit

Emma Raducanu in action against Sofia Kenin at the US Open

Emma Raducanu was making just her second US Open appearance since winning the title in 2021

  • Published 28 August 2024

Emma Raducanu says she wants to play more matches before Grand Slam tournaments after losing to Sofia Kenin in the US Open first round.

Britain's Raducanu, who lost 6-1 3-6 6-4, was searching for her first victory in New York since unexpectedly winning the title in 2021 as a teenage qualifier.

She fell in the first round in 2022 and missed last year's tournament as she recovered from wrist and ankle surgery.

Raducanu played just one tournament between Wimbledon in July and the US Open, reaching the quarter-finals in Washington earlier this month.

The 21-year-old fought back tears in a news conference after her loss to fellow Grand Slam champion Kenin and said she felt "sad" and "down".

She said she would "learn from it" and "manage my schedule slightly differently" for future Grand Slams.

"I would like to play more matches," Raducanu told BBC 5 Live.

"I wouldn't probably still play every single tournament leading up, but I would probably play more than I did this time.

"It's a lesson to learn for next year."

Swiatek made to work hard in victory over lucky loser

Having opted to skip this summer's Olympic Games in Paris, Raducanu also missed WTA 1,000 events in Toronto and Cincinnati in the lead-up to the US Open

Raducanu admitted afterwards that she lacked some match sharpness against Kenin.

"I got off to a bit of a slow start, but did really well to fight back in sets two and three and there wasn’t much in it," Raducanu said.

"I think I worked my way into the match pretty well, but at this level you can’t really afford to have a slow start of the set and start from a set down.

"I know when I have a lot of matches, just like every player, you feel really good, you feel like everything's automatic.

"I can learn from it and manage my schedule slightly differently."

After an injury-plagued 2023, Raducanu returned to the tour in January and reached the second round of the Australian Open.

She skipped the clay-court French Open to focus on being fit for the British grass season - a decision that seemed to have paid off when she made an impressive run to the Wimbledon fourth round.

"I think I've made progress considering where I was at the start of the year - I didn't play for seven months," the world number 71 added.

"I had a month of December training after three surgeries so I think to climb back into the top 100 was a really good achievement."

Kenin comes out on top of 'rollercoaster' champion clash

After fending off two break points in the first game, Raducanu's serve was constantly under pressure from Kenin, who reeled off five games in a row to take the opening set.

Raducanu made a statement by breaking early in the second with a series of bruising forehand winners, but Kenin responded immediately to level at 1-1.

As the British number two grew into the match, Kenin's frustrations came to the fore and she angrily swiped a ball away right before Raducanu broke for a 3-2 lead.

Raducanu struck again at 5-3 to force a decider and made a confident start to the third set while her opponent's unforced error count mounted.

Yet it was the American who made the first breakthrough and, after being just two points away from victory on Raducanu's serve, Kenin closed out the win on her first match point.

"It was a rollercoaster match," Kenin said afterwards. "Emma is such a tough player and she played some great tennis. I'm just super happy to have won."

Like Raducanu, Kenin has struggled for form since winning the Australian Open in 2020 and reaching the French Open final in in the same year.

She will face title contender Jessica Pegula next after the sixth seed beat Shelby Rogers 6-4 6-3.

Russell Fuller, BBC tennis correspondent in New York

Kenin allowed Raducanu little room to breathe in the first set: she was the aggressor, trying to stifle her opponent from the word go.

Raducanu’s second set fight back was impressive - she extended the rallies and tempted an impatient Kenin to go for too much.

The British player looked the more likely winner early in the third set, but Kenin’s serve proved decisive.

Raducanu chose not to play any tournaments in the three weeks before this US Open, and she did not look as match sharp as she was earlier in the summer.

The 21-year-old did not disagree, and will probably approach things differently in future - saying “it’s a lesson to learn for next year.”

Keegan Bradley wins BMW as last man in; Lydia Ko takes Women's British Open

Keegan Bradley wins BMW as last man in; Lydia Ko takes Women’s British Open

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. — Keegan Bradley went from the last man in the BMW Championship to a winner Sunday, closing with an even-par 72 for a one-shot victory that opened up all sorts of possibilities he never imagined possible a week ago.

Bradley pulled away from mistake-prone Adam Scott early on the back nine and delivered a clutch shot into the par-5 17th that all but sealed the seventh victory of his PGA Tour career, and the most unlikely.

He was biting his nails a week ago, needing help just to finish at No. 50 in the FedEx Cup and qualify for the second postseason event. And then he managed the mile-high air, the wind and the Sunday pressure to win at Castle Pines.

The victory moved the 38-year-old Bradley from No. 50 to No. 4 in the FedEx Cup, sending him to the Tour Championship where he will start four shots behind Scottie Scheffler in a 72-hole chase for the $25 million prize.

There’s also another cup in play. Bradley, the first Ryder Cup captain to win a PGA Tour event since Davis Love III nine years ago, moved to No. 10 in the Presidents Cup standings. The top six after the BMW Championship automatically qualified, and Jim Furyk gets six captain’s picks. Bradley will surely be in the conversation after winning for the third straight year.

Scott, a runner-up at the Scottish Open last month, was tied for the lead until starting the back nine with three soft bogeys, two of them with a wedge in his hand from the fairway. He birdied the closing par 5s, but lost a big chance when he overshot the 15th green from 101 yards.

He closed with a 72, though it also moved him into the top 30 who qualifying for East Lake.

Sam Burns finished with a Sunday-best 65, including a bogey on the par-5 14th, and shared second place with Scott and Ludvig Aberg of Sweden. Aberg closed with a 71.

Bradley finished at 12-under 276. He earned $4 million for his second title in the BMW Championship, also winning at Aronimink in 2018.

LPGA Tour and Ladies European Tour

ST. ANDREWS, Scotland — Lydia Ko won her third major championship by breaking free from a logjam of world-class talent to win the Women’s British Open by two strokes at St. Andrews, capping a summer that included her Olympic gold medal in Paris.

Ko rolled in a 4-foot birdie putt at the storied 18th hole on the Old Course for a 3-under 69, and then had to wait to see if Nelly Korda, defending champion Lilia Vu and two-time champion Jiyai Shin could catch her.

All four players -- former world No. 1s -- shared the lead at some point down the stretch.

Korda had the lead until a double bogey on the par-5 14th, and she took bogey from the Road Hole bunker at the 17th to lose her bid. Shin also make bogey on the 17th. Vu had a 20-foot birdie putt on the 18th to force a playoff. She came up short, and then missed a short par putt to tie for second.

Ko finished at 7-under 281. It was her first major in eight years.

European Tour

AARHUS, Denmark — Frederic LaCroix of France played bogey-free for a 6-under 65 that allowed him to track down the mistake-prone leaders and win the Danish Golf Championship for his first European tour title.

LaCroix started the final round four shots behind Lucas Bjerregaard of Denmark and closed the gap quick as the Dane took three bogeys and a double bogey on the front nine and never caught up. He closed with a 73.

Romain Langasque could only manage a 71 with two birdies and two bogeys and tied for second with Bjerregaard, four shots behind.

Lacroix finished at 14-under 270.

British Amateur champion Jacob Skov Olesen of Denmark closed with a 72 and tied for fifth.

PGA Tour Champions

GRAND BLANC, Mich. — Stewart Cink won The Ally Challenge for his first PGA Tour Champions title, closing with a 6-under 66 for a four-stroke victory.

The 51-year-old Cink, the 2009 British Open champion, won in his 10th career start on the 50-and-over tour. He became the 22nd player to win on each of the PGA Tour’s three tours — the PGA Tour, PGA Tour Champions and Korn Ferry Tour.

Cink finished at 17-under 199 at Warwick Hills to match the tournament record set by Joe Durant in 2021. The eight-time PGA Tour winner has made 14 starts this season, the best a tie for 24th in the Sony Open in Hawaii.

K.J. Choi was second after a 67. Mike Weir (64) was another stroke back.

Korn Ferry Tour

BOISE, Idaho — Matt McCarty won the Albertsons Boise Open for his third Korn Ferry Tour in his last six starts, becoming the 13th player in tour history to earn an immediate promotion to the PGA Tour.

McCarty closed with a 2-under 69 for a two-stroke victory in the regular-season finale. The 26-year-old left-hander finished at 21-under 263 at Hillcrest Country Club.

With the immediate promotion as a three-time winner, McCarty will receive spots in the FedExCup Fall events. The top 30 in the season standings earned PGA Tour cards.

Kevin Roy (68) and William Mouw (70) tied for second. They earned PGA Tour cards, with Roy 10th and Mouw 12th in the standings.
