FRIENDS FILMING LOCATIONS
See their workplaces in Midtown Manhattan
When you join us on this New York Movie Tour, you’ll see your first Friends location in Midtown as we pass the beautiful Pierre Hotel, the site of Chandler and Monica’s wedding. Heading down Fifth Avenue you’ll spot a New York landmark that looks vaguely familiar, the Pulitzer Fountain. According to a location scout, while the opening credits weren’t filmed here, this famous fountain was the NYC inspiration for the California studio fountain where the filming actually occurred.
Just across the street is the Solow Building, where Chandler Bing (Matthew Perry) worked as a… what was Chandler’s job again? The Solow Building charges some of the most expensive rents in Manhattan and is featured in many films, including Zoolander, where the filmmakers added a giant computer-generated “M” to represent Mugatu’s fashion headquarters. The building is also the namesake of the Nine West shoe store chain.
Not far from Chandler’s mystery job at the Solow Building, is Saks Fifth Ave where our favorite fashionista, Rachel Green (Jennifer Aniston) interviewed for a job, but was passed over. Joey Tribbiani (Matt LeBlanc) on the other hand lands a job here – as a perfume tester. The Saks Fifth Avenue flagship store is just one of Manhattan’s many upscale department stores and has been referenced in shows like Seinfeld as well.
See where they lived in Lower Manhattan
Downtown this New York TV & Movie Tour heads into historic Greenwich Village where you’ll get an up close photo-op with the famous Friends apartment building. It’s here that Monica Geller (Courtney Cox Arquette), Rachel Green, Phoebe Buffay (Lisa Kudrow), Joey Tribbiani, Chandler Bing, and Ross Geller (David Schwimmer) laughed and lived for ten seasons. The Village is referenced many times throughout the series, but the actual apartment interiors were filmed on set in Hollywood. Greenwich Village is also home to the real restaurant that inspired the fictional coffee shop, Central Perk, where the close-knit group of friends frequently shared a sofa in so many episodes and where Phoebe famously performed “Smelly Cat.”
Across the street you’ll catch a glimpse of Ross’s apartment, formerly home to everyone’s favorite “Ugly Naked Guy.” As you’ll see this apartment is not very close to Monica’s apartment – meaning it would have taken a lot of chopsticks to poke Ugly Naked Guy in its real location. Just around the corner is Phoebe’s apartment on Morton Street where she lived for all ten seasons.
Washington Square Park is the heart of the neighborhood and has proudly developed into home for a significant number of off-Broadway theater companies and venues. The Lucille Lortel Theater, where Joey performed all his plays, is also located around the corner from the Friends building.
Our family-fun NYC TV tour is led by local actors and actresses who show you the New York frequented by Monica, Rachel, Phoebe, Ross, Joey, and Chandler. This is a must-do sightseeing tour of New York City for any Friends fan.

The immersive Friends experience is coming back to NYC!
Could we *be* more excited?
Oh. my. God. The Friends Experience that took NYC by storm in 2019 is coming back!
You know, the one with all the iconic props and recreated scenes from Friends ? It opens on March 17 with a whopping 18 rooms, including the orange couch in front of the fountain, Monica’s kitchen, the hilarious 'Pivot!' scene, and the Las Vegas wedding chapel where Ross & Rachel tied the knot.
There will even be an actual functioning Central Perk that serves coffee, pastries, and desserts, which will be open to the public daily starting at 7am so you can bring your friends and relive your favorite Central Perk scenes.
New props and costumes have been added this time around, including Chandler's bunny suit and Rachel's famous cow jacket, as well as Monica and Rachel's living room and Ugly Naked Guy.
And for those concerned about health and safety at this time, the experience boasts that it is "Monica clean." That means limited capacity, temperature checks, masks requirements, regular cleaning and sterilization across the building and hand sanitizing stations.
Megafans will be able to purchase Friends -themed masks, clothing, totes, and other trinkets at the store .
The whole experience will take up two floors in the Flatiron District at 130 East 23rd Street.
The last time it was here in NYC , it was in Soho and gave fans a chance to look through Rachel and Monica’s purple door, stick a turkey on their head, play foosball in Chandler and Joey’s apartment and, of course, take a pic on the Central Perk's couch. It was only open for a month.
Tickets are on sale right now at friendstheexperience.com for $45.

Your Guide To The F.r.i.e.n.d.s. Experience In New York
From the twinkling skyline to the bustling Central Park , New York City holds a special place in our hearts, not just because of its grandeur but also because it’s lived in our favorite TV series, F.R.I.E.N.D.S . Unlike this iconic sitcom, few shows encapsulate the spirit, humor, and relatable life chapters.
New York City is not just a backdrop in the series but a character itself. Visit NYC thrives on the magic of such timeless narratives. Our first spotlight is on The Friends Experience , an interactive, immersive tour that takes you right into the beloved series’ world – from Central Perk’s comfy orange couch to Monica’s immaculate apartment. We ensure that we weave the tapestry of your favorite moments and blend them with the quintessential New York spirit . This unique tour lets you live the Friends saga in its truest sense, right where it was filmed – in the heart of New York City.
Booking Your Tickets in Advance
Securing your spot for The Friends Experience requires planning. Tickets often sell out quickly due to the attraction’s popularity. To avoid disappointment, buy your tickets as early as possible. This can also lead to better pricing options and more flexibility in choosing your preferred time to visit. Booking ahead means you can arrange the rest of your trip with peace of mind, knowing your entry is guaranteed.
Demand may increase during certain times of the year, such as holidays or important anniversaries associated with the performance. Keep this in mind when you plan your visit. Furthermore, booking accommodation well in advance is important to ensure the best rates and availability, as major events might result in a spike in people. Planning promotes a more fun and stress-free experience at the show.
Planning Your Visit Around Peak Times
The Friends Experience is busiest during weekends and holidays. Aim for weekdays or early mornings if you prefer a quieter setting to soak in every detail fully. This strategic timing allows for a more personal experience, with fewer crowds and more opportunities to engage with the exhibits without rush.
Weather can also influence your visit. New York’s winters can be cold, and summers hot. The Friends Experience is mostly indoors, making it a great year-round attraction. Yet, the comfort of your travels to and from the location can vary with seasons. Dressing appropriately during your visit will ensure the weather doesn’t dampen your spirit.
Consider the time you need to explore. Don’t rush your visit. Allocating enough time means you can relish each moment, whether sitting on the iconic Central Perk couch or peering into Monica and Chandler’s apartment. Allow yourself to be fully present, making your visit to The Friends Experience one for the books.
Exploring Nearby Attractions
Your trip doesn’t end with The Friends Experience. New York City is home to numerous attractions that can complement your visit. For instance, a short walk can bring you to places featured in Friends or other iconic sites within the city. This adds an extra layer of excitement to your trip, combining the fictional world of Friends with the tangible streets of New York.
Consider visiting Central Park, a frequent backdrop in the show. It’s a place to unwind and reflect on the day’s adventure. Similarly, the allure of the West Village, with its quaint streets and unique shops, mirrors the show’s charm. These areas offer a deeper dive into the New York lifestyle celebrated in Friends.
For fans wanting to extend their experience, themed cafes and trivia nights centered around Friends are common in the city. Participating in these events offers a fun way to test your knowledge of the show and meet other fans. It’s a way to keep the spirit of Friends alive, even after leaving The Friends Experience.
Shopping for Exclusive Merchandise
Your journey through The Friends Experience doesn’t end when you walk out the door. The attraction extends into a gift shop selling exclusive merchandise you won’t find elsewhere. Unique memorabilia is a great way to make your visit timeless. Every time you look at your T-shirt bearing Phoebe’s “Smelly Cat” emblem or sip coffee from a Central Perk mug, you will be reminded of the unforgettable time you spent on the tour.
While shopping might be a common tourist activity, buying exclusive merchandise can extend your journey and make your experience a part of your everyday life. It is not about purchasing items but about taking home tangible memories that will extend the joy of your visit long after you’ve left the city.
Selecting items that resonate with you or reflect your favorite moments from the show will make your buying experience more personal and memorable. And if you’re purchasing gifts, remember that sharing the joy of Friends is as pleasurable as experiencing it yourself!

7 FRIENDS FILMING LOCATIONS IN NEW YORK
A tour of New York is a unique opportunity to visit the places where Friends, one of the most iconic and memorable series on television, was recorded. So, if you want to embark on an unforgettable trip, we recommend you visit the places we shared you down here, 7 places where Friends was filmed in New York .
Let’s get started!
Friends Apartment
The Friends apartment is one of the most important stages of this famous series, the Friends apartment is the place where the best moments of the series were lived, a Friends fan will never forget this place.
Friends Apartment – Source secretldn.com
Visiting the Friends apartment in New York is a worthwhile experience, although the apartment is a fictitious setting, the building that was used as a facade can be found at the corner of Bedford Street and Grove Street in the West Village, so if you want to take a picture of the Friends apartment you already know where to go.
If you want to continue visiting Phoebe’s apartment you can go to Morton St with Bleecker St. There you will see the place where one of Friends’ most beloved characters lived.
Bloomingdale’s
One of the New York Friends scenarios you can visit is the famous Bloomingdale’s Big Apple’s giant warehouse and place where Rachel worked as a fashion assistant after leaving behind the famous Central Perk .
This Big Apple store can be found at 59th Street 3rd Avenue. One of the most important memories of the Friends series occurs in Bloomingdale’s , it is in this store where Rachel meets Joshua.
You can take advantage of your visit to Bloomingdale’s to shop in one of New York’s luxury stores, an experience you must live in the Big Apple.
The Fountain of Friends
Pulitzer Fountain – Source iStock
The Friends fountain is another of the emblems of the series, where the protagonists sing and dance while the song “I’ll be there for you” plays. This Friends location doesn’t really exist in New York , this is a big disappointment that many Friends fans have to face, but, coincidentally, there are many theories that say that the creators of the series were inspired by the Bethesda Fountain in Central Park and the Pulitzer Fountain in the Grand Army Plaza , places that you can visit on your tour of New York.
Saks Fifth Avenue
Bloomingdale’s is not the only store in New York that appears in the Friends series, in many episodes of the series also appeared Saks Fifth Avenue, it was there where Joey worked as a model of a perfume for men and where the mythical scene of Joey having a duel with another model dressed as a cowboy occurred.
On the other hand, Saks Fifth Avenue is another perfect store for shopping in New York , a giant store where you will find thousands of products at great prices. Saks Fifth Avenue is located on 5th Ave between 49th street and 50th street.
Natural History Museum
One of the most spectacular Friends locations in New York you can visit is the Natural History Museum , where Ross Geller worked as a paleontologist throughout the series. This place is sensational, although the museum was never used to film the Friends series, we remember it because through the Ross series he always mentioned that he worked there.
Natural History Museum – Source www.inexhibit.com
Another of the most spectacular plans you can make is to visit New York’s museums , absolutely all of the Big Apple’s museums are wonderful, but there is no doubt that the New York Natural History Museum is one of the most amazing places you can find in New York .
A fact that no Friends fan will forget is that Ross and Rachel had their first romantic date at the Natural History Museum . The museum is located on 8th Ave and 79th street very close to Central Park on the Upper West Side. A full tour of the museum takes approximately 4 hours.
Washington Square Park
Washington Square Park is another of the locations where Friends was filmed in New York , this famous Big Apple square appeared several times in the series. It is in Greenwich Village, one of New York’s most vibrant neighborhoods.
Thousands of times the great Arch of Washington and the fountain of Washington Park appeared in between the scenes, and let’s not forget that this square is in the same neighborhood where Rachel and Monica lived. If you are touring New Yor k you should visit this historic place in the Big Apple , where you can enjoy the street artists and the good atmosphere of the square.
Very close to Washington Square Park there are many famous restaurants and bars such as Café Wah.
Although it’s not a Friends stage, the NBC Store is another place worth visiting in New York , since there you can buy something that reminds you of one of the most famous TV series.
NBC Store – Source www.bons-plans-voyage-new-york.com
NBC Store is in the Rockefeller Center , in addition to the Friends series in the store you will see cups, t-shirts, handbags and all kinds of accessories from other famous series and talk shows.

WHERE IS THE FRIENDS APARTMENT BUILDING?
It's located at 90 Bedford Street at the corner of Grove Street.
Reaching the building used for the exterior shot of the Friends apartment building is relatively easy, thanks to a major subway junction less than a 10-minute walk away.
It's best to use our Google map to get directions to the building .
Most visitors will find it best to arrive at West 4th Street Station, which can be accessed by the A, B, C, D, E, F, and M subway lines.
A closer station is Christopher Street, but this station can only be accessed with the 1 train, which is a local train.
If you are coming from New Jersey or from further north, you might find taking the PATH train to the PATH's Christopher Street Station. PATH accepts NYC subway MetroCards.
Above is a map image showing the subway stations. The red circle on the very left of the map is for the PATH station.
If you are new to the NYC subway, then read our guides on navigating the system and how to choose the best MetroCard .
TIP: Let us take you there on one of our Greenwich Village Tours .
The Friends Apartment is also a stop on our GPS-enabled audio tour of the Village, which you could take any time you like.
Central Perk
Though few people are surprised that there is no Central Perk on the ground level, it's quite obvious by visitors' reactions that they were hoping there might be.
Rather than a coffee house below, there is a restaurant called the Little Owl.
The Little Owl does not resemble the layout of Central Perk, but it's a place you might want to check out for lunch or dinner. The restaurant has excellent reviews .

If you want to see Central Perk and some of the other locations from the show, there's a pop-up exhibition called the Friends Experience which has recreated a lot of the best sets in this popular tv series.

COULD THEY REALLY AFFORD TO LIVE IN GREENWICH VILLAGE?
In the Friends television show, the actors are never filmed in New York City.
All of the shots were in a studio in California, except for London in the finale of season four. Even the fountain scene opening the show was filmed in California.
Several issues arose in depicting the Greenwich Village building as the home for Monica and Rachel, and Joey and Chandler.
Monica’s apartment is a two-bedroom unit in an area of Greenwich Village that boasts rents of $3500 a month just for a studio apartment.
During the program, Monica worked as a cook — Rachel sort of served coffee in the first season — and Monica periodically had no job or worked at positions that would not support paying the rent on this size apartment.
The writers and producers said the apartment needed to be large so the audience could see what the actors were doing.
Friends was filmed in front of a live studio audience. Action and conversations had to be visible to the audience, so the floor plan of the apartment was wide open and large.
It looked nothing like a typical New York City apartment.
The writers explained away the problem of the size and its cost as “an illegal sublet.”
This was Monica’s and Ross’s grandmother’s apartment, a rent-controlled unit, and Monica had taken it over.
In New York City, buildings older than 1947 with six or more rental units are rent-controlled.
The city tells landlords how much they can increase the rents based on the length of the lease, which has often resulted in rents much lower than market value.
Some bloggers have said it would have been impossible to obtain the apartment shown at $300 a month, as discussed in the TV program, even in the 1990s.
But, down the block on Commerce Street, a four-bedroom, 1200-square-foot unit rented by an 80-something-year-old gentleman was going for around $332, according to the New York Times. Rent control!
Other issues with the Friends Apartment Building are obvious! The apartment has a balcony in the TV series. None exists on the exterior of the building shown.
In the first year, the Ugly Naked Guy lived across the street, and the Friends spied on him periodically.
In the last few years, Ross lived in the building across the street, and they peeked out into his windows. Not actually possible with the location.
But do not let this deter you from following the Free Tours by Foot tour guides down Grove Street to Bedford Street to view the Friends Apartment building for yourself.
Stand outside, and take a photo.
GUIDE TO GREENWICH VILLAGE

Friends Experience: the must-see attraction for Friends fans in New York City
It has been more than 20 years since the Friends series ended and left our TV screens… And yet, we are still millions and millions of fans to perpetuate the memory of the series and to enjoy its countless reruns. Friends has indeed impacted an entire generation and gave way to a huge feeling of nostalgia all around the world.
But good news! If you are a Friends fan and you are planning to go to New York City soon, you will probably live a real dream thanks to the Friends Experience ! Here, you will have the opportunity to enter the universe of the series like never before and above all, you will be able to immortalize your visit through the most emblematic sets of the series!
All the information to prepare and book your visit to the Friends Experience in New York City can be found in the article below 🙂
Friends Experience, a real success story
The story began in 2019 when a temporary exhibition was organized in NYC to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the creation of the series. The attraction offered to recreate some famous sets from Friends and also exhibited a lot of cult objects from the different episodes. From the moment it opened, the attraction was a huge success, selling out several weeks (or even months!) in advance.
Such a success could only augur good things! After the mandatory closures linked to the Covid crisis, fans of the series were quick to return to seek some comfort in the so comfortable and familiar universe of Friends. In 2021, the temporary exhibition finally became “The Friends Experience”, the very first permanent attraction dedicated to the Friends series 🙂
Today, the phenomenon has continued to grow as other cities now host a Friends Experience. This is the case of Seattle and Philadelphia in the United States or Brussels in Europe. The one in New York City , the very first, remains of course the most mythical, because it is strongly linked to the history of the series. By the way, don’t wait to book because the most accessible tickets are sold out very quickly !

Friends Experience: a magical incursion into the universe of the series
Now you’re probably wondering what you’ll see when you visit the Friends Experience. As the name suggests, the attraction is much more than just an exhibit. Here, you really go deep into the Friends experience! The universe of the show is perfectly recreated with the reconstitution of several unmissable sets as the apartments of Monica/Rachel and Joey/Chandler or the Central Perk .
But even better, instead of just wandering between the sets, it is quite possible to enter and put yourself in the scene . And that’s probably where all the magic of the Friends Experience resides! Evolving within the sets of the series necessarily gives us great emotions… Let’s take pictures in the Central Perk sofa or in the famous Chandler armchair 🙂

In addition to the sets, there are also a large number of cult objects such as Phoebe’s taxi, Joey’s Hugsy plush, the white dog, costumes and disguises used during the series or the magnificent Gladys and Glynis paintings created by Phoebe! Of course, this is just a small preview…because the whole world of Friends is at the Friends Experience…
The visit ends (of course!) with a gift shop that brings many products derived from the series.
Prices, reservation, tickets, schedules… All the practical information about the Friends Experience

These Are The 11 Places Every Friends Fan Needs To See When They Visit NYC
Monica and Rachel's apartment building is real.
Could you be anymore excited for the Friends: The Reunion special on HBO Max ? As a Friends fan, you’ve watched the entire series from start to finish too many times to count, and constantly quote your favorite characters. It almost feels like you’re actually friends with Monica, Phoebe, Rachel, Chandler, Joey, and Ross in real life. So it’s about time to live out your very own episode by visiting some of Friends ’ New York City filming locations, along with some of the places that inspired the sitcom.
While most of the series was filmed at the Warner Bros. Studio in Burbank, California, there are some iconic NYC landmarks used as establishing shots, or as references for the group’s places of work. Ross’ job at the Museum of Prehistoric History? Not a real place. The opening credits fountain? That was in California — but there are a couple of NYC fountains that will totally remind you of it, so you can still make it look like you’re living in the beloved world of Friends on your next trip to the Big Apple. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), it’s safe for anyone who is fully vaccinated to travel domestically, so you can start planning your Friends -inspired adventure ASAP. Keep in mind you’ll need to wear a mask on all forms of public transportation on your journey through Manhattan, but you’ll barely notice it as you take in the sights from the Upper West Side down to Greenwich Village.
Since the OG cast of Friends reunited for their HBO Max special, it only makes sense you and your besties also get together in an epic way soon. So, pivot any potential plans you and your crew, or maybe your lobster, made for the summer if they didn’t involve a Friends -themed vacation, and be sure to stop at these 11 NYC locations.
Your first stop on a Friends NYC tour should be this apartment building in Greenwich Village. While the interior shots of Monica and Rachel’s apartment (as well as Joey and Chandler’s apartment) were filmed on a soundstage in California, this building was used for all the exterior shots.
As you walk through Greenwich Village, stop by Magnolia Bakery on Bleecker Street for a cupcake Monica would approve of, or grab a bite to eat at the Little Owl restaurant below the apartment. It may not be Central Perk, but the eatery offers plenty of options for food, cocktails, and — of course — coffee.
The CDC recommends traveling only after you’re fully vaccinated and your vaccine has become fully effective . If you’re not fully vaccinated and must travel, check the CDC guidelines before you book. Check your destination’s vaccination and testing requirements before you depart.

Internet Has a Field Day Over Justin Timberlake’s Ruined World Tour
in Entertainment , Featured , Movies & TV
In the early 1990s, a young boy became a member of Disney’s popular show, The All-New Mickey Mouse Club . Justin Timberlake had charisma, stage presence, and a great singing voice.
On the show, Timberlake also met someone who would become a very close friend, JC Chasez. Timberlake and Chasez were on The All-New Mickey Mouse Club in 1993 and 1994, and just one year later, they would go on to be the two lead singers in one of the biggest bands of the late 90s and early 2000s, *NSYNC.
In addition to Timberlake and Chasez, the popular boy band was also comprised of Chris Kirkpatrick, Joey Fatone, and Lance Bass. Sadly, *NSYNC broke up in 2002, but Justin Timberlake’s career would turn into a successful solo one. He would also appear in a number of notable movies, including The Social Network (2010), Bad Teacher (2011), Friends With Benefits (2011), and the wildly popular Trolls franchise .
On June 18, fans were shocked to learn that Timberlake had been arrested in the Hamptons — an affluent area of New York — on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and running a stop sign. While the singer said that he only had one martini before deciding to follow some friends home, his mugshot had people question the validity of that statement. He also reportedly smelled of alcohol and refused to take a breathalyzer test three times.

However, the internet is not on fire because of Timberlake’s arrest but because of his reaction to it. The young Sag Harbor police officer who arrested Timberlake did not know who he was. Timberlake also allegedly complained about his tour being ruined, but the officer did not know what he was talking about.
Shortly after the details surrounding Mr. Timberlake’s DWI arrest were released, the internet was flooded with some truly hilarious memes and reactions .

Others said that they thought the actor was getting what was coming to him . In recent years, Timberlake has been called out for his treatment of Britney Spears after their very public breakup. Timberlake often joked about sexual things he did with Spears while they dated, which she was attacked for and denied.

Some even pointed out what happened between Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson at the 2004 Super Bowl. The *NSYNC star was singing a duet with the iconic songstress, and at the end, he pulled on her shirt. Jackson’s nipple was exposed, and she hastily covered herself. Ms. Jackson ended up being banned from performing at the Super Bowl in the future, and nothing happened to Timberlake, even though he was the one who exposed her.

It was nearly two decades before Timberlake apologized to Britney Spears and Janet Jackson for what he had done to them.
On June 19, Mr. Timberlake’s lawyer spoke out and said he is looking forward to “vigorously defending” his client against the DWI charge. He said that more will come to light, but he is not sharing anything at this time.
Timberlake recently performed in Chicago and thanked his fans for standing by him. And while his wife, actress Jessica Biel, is also standing by him, she is reportedly very upset and embarrassed by his DWI arrest. The two have been married since 2012 and share two children.

12 Takeaways From Kendrick Lamar’s Iconic ‘Pop Out’ Show
Kendrick Lamar made history with his ‘Pop Out: Ken & Friends’ concert in L.A. Here are 12 takeaways from a special night.
It's very rare for one artist to give the world a collective moment. But what Kendrick Lamar did with his Pop Out: Ken & Friends concert at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, CA was historic. The event, which featured opening sets curated by DJ Hed and Mustard, functioned as a moment of appreciation for Kendrick’s city first, and a celebratory burial of Drake second.
The show, which was streaming live on Amazon Prime, featured a wide spectrum of contemporary L.A. acts: Remble, Problem, Blxst, YG, Ty Dolla $ign, Roddy Ricch, Steve Lacy, Tyler, the Creator, Black Hippy, Dr. Dre, and more all made appearances. Kendrick was able to take the momentum he gathered from his beef with Drake, merge it with the burgeoning talent in the city, and create a moment that was hyperspecific and globally impactful at the same time.
Complex was in the building for this moment. We have already written about what we saw inside the venue. Here are some additional takeaways from an evening that will go down in hip-hop history.
“Euphoria” was the perfect opener
View this video on YouTube
Oh, you thought Kendrick was going to take things slow and ease into the beef songs? Nah, he got into his diabolical bag immediately and opened with “Euphoria.” We already knew this song was special when it topped our Best Rap Verse of the Year (So Far) list , but it hit even harder when tens of thousands of people barked along with Kendrick as he rapped every word. “I hate the way that you walk, the way that you talk, I hate the way that you dress!” It’s a theatrical-ass song, full of dramatic vocal changes and beat switches, and Kendrick pulled all of them off exceptionally well in a live setting, delivering a powerful, dexterous performance with no backing track. It was a hell of a way to start a show, setting the tone for one of the most hater-ass concerts you’ll ever see (and I mean that in the best way possible). — Eric Skelton
This was one of the best crowds you’ll ever see
It’s always frustrating when you see video footage of a historic concert, only to realize that the whole crowd was dead and no one in attendance fully comprehended the magnitude of what they were witnessing. Fortunately, I can assure you that was not the case in LA on Wednesday night. Everyone clearly understood they were there for a once-in-a-lifetime show, and the energy matched the occasion. People were taking shots in the parking lot, moshing on the floor, and loudly singing along to every word. It was a celebration, and they were extremely proud of their city. Outside of sporting events, I’ve never seen more L.A. gear in my life, and for a show of this magnitude in a major American city, it had a very regional feel. You get the sense Kendrick must have been very pleased with the way this crowd showed up. —Eric Skelton

There were some notable LA rappers who weren’t there
Kendrick had almost every notable L.A. artist on stage, from upcoming rappers (Ray Vaughn) to blue-collar vets (G Perico) to burgeoning superstars (Steve Lacy and Mustard.) But there were a couple of notable no-shows, and most could be explained pretty easily. Fans online wondered where Kendrick’s cousin Baby Keem was—but Keem isn’t an L.A. rapper, and this was clearly an L.A. show. 03 Greedo said he was invited but couldn’t make it . Snoop Dogg was on tour in Saskatchewan, Canada, which would explain why he couldn’t perform “Still Dre” with Dr. Dre. The real curious omission was The Game, one of Kendrick’s earliest supporters and a West Coast legend. Not only wasn't he there, but there was not a peep from him online. One explanation: during the height of their conflict, it seemed like Game sided with Drake, posting a curious Instagram post. After Kendrick responded with “Europhia,” Anthony "Top Dawg" Tiffith sent out his own cryptic message on Twitter, “We saw everybody that showed their hand. This the family. Dot still the King.” —Dimas Sanfiorenzo
The bootleg “Not Like Us” T-shirt industry is booming
bootleg Not Like Us shirts are EVERYWHERE at The Forum pic.twitter.com/aybFqytchW — Eric Skelton (@ericskelton) June 20, 2024
“Meet the Grahams” didn’t meet the cut
Kendrick Lamar’s vicious—some would say “evil”—track “Meet the Grahams” got lost in the mix, thanks to the success of “Not Like Us.” But it’s become a dark horse favorite among rap masochists who don’t mind listening to a six-minute brooding song about Drake being a sexual deviant. So it should be noted that it was the only diss song to not get any play at the concert last night. Admittedly, it’s probably a tough sell for a crowd of 20,000 people. But who would have guessed a song like “Euphoria”—which is very verbose and not an anthem at all—would ring off the way that it did? —Dimas Sanfiorenzo
‘Mr. Morale’ didn’t get its moment
Kendrick might be the bogeyman, but that doesn’t mean he’s Teflon. Some of the most effective disses against Dot have been centered around the polarizing reaction to his last album, Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers . J. Cole first mentioned it on the now-deleted “7 Minute Drill. ” And Drake resurrected the idea, rapping, “Your last one bricked, you really not on shit” on “Push Ups.” It seems like maybe there’s a small part of Kendrick that agrees. Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers was the only major label album not to get its moment last night. And considering how Kendrick had the crowd in his hands, it’s curious he didn’t at least try to perform heaters like “N95” or “Silent Hill.” For Kendrick to not play one note from his last album during what is effectively a greatest hits show does seem to imply… something. —Dimas Sanfiorenzo

Kendrick Lamar hit the stage in a low-key, workmanlike outfit: red hoodie, blue jeans, and white and red sneakers. A clean but menacing look that some have speculated was inspired by Tupac’s 1994 Source Awards fit. The major difference, however, is the footwear: while Pac wore Filas, Kendrick was on stage in Shox R4s, a shoe from 2000 that has become more known for its functionality rather than style. We don’t know what Kendrick was trying to say with this footwear choice but it definitely took some effort: the shoe hasn’t been retroed since 2018. Was this a statement or does he know something we don’t know yet? —Dimas Sanfiorenzo
There can only be so much unity
Drakeo the Ruler had a complicated connection to Inglewood and, infamously, a contentious relationship with YG and his camp. But he was still an L.A. legend, one of the most prominent rappers from the city over the last decade, and the emcee who clearly was on Kendrick's mind when he recorded “Not Like Us.” So the fact that even during this unity show, Drakeo or his brother didn’t get a moment was interesting and just shows how deep some of the tension in the city is. On Twitter, Drakeo’s brother Ralfy the Plug didn’t say much about the snub, but he has been retweeting positive words about The Ruler. —Dimas Sanfiorenzo
Big regional shows might be the future
Yes, artist-backed festivals and concerts have been around for years. It’s not uncommon to see artists put their name on a poster in size 400 font for the love of their respective city, from J. Cole’s Dreamville Festival to Travis Scott’s Astroworld to Drake’s OVO Fest. But this one felt different. The popular artist-run concerts and festivals quickly become co-opted and corporatized to optimize ticket sales. Although there were corporate elements here—shout out to Amazon Music and Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg’s Gin and Juice pre-mixed cocktail—this felt like a real regional show, where the culture of the city was prioritized. So can this format—where one star unifies a whole sound or scene while maintaining integrity—work in other cities? I think so. Imagine Jay-Z doing something like this with Brooklyn drill acts in the mix? Or Chief Keef rolling out the red carpet for new rappers in Chicago? I think Kendrick might have really cracked something here. —Dimas Sanfiorenzo

Despite Travis Kelce’s absence from her Eras Tour show in Dublin on Friday night, Taylor Swift still gave a few nods to the NFL player during her performance.
Swift, 34, playfully reenacted Kelce’s signature archer pose while performing “Midnight Rain” off her Grammy-winning album “Midnights” — a nod to the Super Bowl champ’s famed touchdown dance — seemingly telling the crowd at Aviva Stadium that things are still going strong between the pair.
A fan’s recording of the concert shows the singer pretending to use a bow and arrow just after she sings the lyric: “And he never thinks of me / Except when I’m on TV.”
The three-time Super Bowl champion previously spoke about how his signature pose came to be on an episode of his “New Heights” podcast last October.
“I always wanted to do something when I ran out of the tunnel,” the Chiefs player said.
“I’m like, ‘Man, you know what’s really been motivating for me?’ It’s to always dream big [and] always shoot for the stars, so I’m just out there shooting for the stars, baby.”

That’s not the only reference she gave to her boyfriend of nearly a year. Swift also wore a special piece of jewelry with a sweet nod to Kelce featured prominently on it.
Fans noticed the pop star re-wore her Tiffany & Co. Tiffany T Diamond Wire Ring ($2,675), which features a duo of diamond-dotted Ts — the couple’s initials.
Swift wore the same yellow-gold band last weekend ahead of Kelce’s surprise onstage appearance.
The couple sent Swifties into a frenzy at her Wembley show in London when Kelce joined the “Trouble” singer on stage while performing a skit for the “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” transition.
Per a fan video, the NFL tight end approached his girlfriend and picked her up from a pretend faint before he seemingly whispered something to the songstress as she laid in his arms.
Kelce donned a black suit with a matching top hat for the show while Swift wore a long white dress.
Another fan video revealed the singer also performed the same archer pose at her London show.
