Cut the Rope: Time Travel Tips & Tricks: 4 Hints You Need to Know

Cut the Rope: Time Travel is now available for Android and iOS devices, as it’s the latest installment in ZeptoLabs’ Cut the Rope series. As Om Nom, you will be traveling back in time to feed your ancestors, but the mechanics remain similar – there’s a lot of physics involved here, and monsters for you to feed in each of the levels. According to ZeptoLabs, the game is “twice the fun but familiar to play,” and you’ll also be visiting a variety of locations, including the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, ancient Egypt and Greece, the Stone Age, and even the Disco Era. You’ll also get a chance to travel to the future, so expect no shortage of quirkiness in this new ZeptoLabs title.

The mechanics may be similar, but can you hack it? If you’re a beginner to Cut the Rope and weren’t able to play the original game, we suggest you read this list of Cut the Rope: Time Travel tips and tricks. But even if you did play the first game, you can check these tips out as well, as they’ll help you deal with the physics and know how to feed the monsters the right way.

1. Learn The True Basics Of The Game

In all instances, you’ll start with one piece of candy per monster, and so that you can beat the level, you’ll have to feed each of those monsters. You cannot feed multiple pieces to the same monster, and you won’t be able to feed one monster and drop the remaining candy for the other monster to eat. Think of it as a juggling act that you’ll need to pull off in each of the levels of the game.

2. Grind For More Stars

All levels in the game have three stars for you to earn, and you can get a perfect three stars by knocking your candy toward, and through them. And since you’ll need to have enough stars so you can unlock the next world and next set of levels, you may have to do your share of grinding. Replay levels where you’ve gotten just one or two stars, so that way you can have the requisite number of total stars you need to move forward.

3. Use Power-Ups To Help You Toward Three-Star Levels

Need more help in three-starring levels? Make use of your power-ups. There are two of them which you can collect, the first of which being the yellow man, whom you can tap in order to get a hint. The emphasis here is on the word “hint,” as you’ll get just one of these to guide you through everything you need to do to get three stars. The lightning bolt, on the other hand, allows you to control the candy by tapping anywhere on the screen. This power-up is far more common than the hint power-up, but it’s also much harder to use. With a little practice, you’ll be able to use the lightning bolt in the right way.

4. Some Worlds Will Cost You Some Money

You’ll have to pay some real-life money to unlock the Parallel Universe, which comes with new, challenging levels. The same applies to the Future and Let it Snow worlds. Otherwise, all other worlds can be unlocked for free by acquiring enough stars, or by paying real-life money.

In each of them, you'll need to feed Om Nom's ancestors if you want to succeed. Here's how!

Watch out for bombs, conserve your hints, conserve om nom's superpowers, but don't forget about 'em.

The key to Cut the Rope: Time Travel—or any Cut the Rope game, for that matter—is to take stock of the entire stage before you go cutting ropes. Don't just start swiping and hope for the best, especially in stages where there are pains in the butt, like blades, bombs, rockets, and more.

Get in, look around, take a breath, then fire away.

That being said, don't stop trying

Cut the Rope: Time Travel lets you try as many times as you want, no life-limited wanted or needed. You might have to watch an ad in between tries, but you'll never have to wait more than 30 seconds to try again.

That means you shouldn't be afraid to try. And try. And try. You'll get better each time.

The freeze button is gonna be one of Om Nom's and your biggest friends during your time travels. So use it. When you first encounter the freeze button, the game forces you to use it so you learn how. Later, when it pops up again, you'll be under no such pressure. But that doesn't mean you should forget about it.

Any time you need to take a moment and really take stock of the whole stage, use the freeze button. It'll make it much, much easier to collect all three stars.

A new feature in Cut the Rope: Time Travel is the bomb. It explodes when it comes into contact with ANYTHING in the level. Take full stock of your surroundings because you're going to need to know where to cut and you're gonna need to know quickly!

Bombs also push any swinging object outward instead of inward, so keep that in mind when you've gotta time things out just right and direction is playing an important factor.

You may be tempted to use your hints right away. After all, levels can be frustrating. But you really want to wait as long as you can before burning a hint. Wait as long as you possibly can, because when you really need a hint, you'll really need a hint ready and waiting.

Don't blow through them. Don't run out. Use your hints not when you want them, but when you need them!

Since the button is so tiny, it's easy to forget that Om Nom has telekinesis. Yes: Mind bullets!

Like the freeze button, telekinesis makes the stage infinitely easier, setting up an invisible boundary around the entire stage, which stops candies from falling, lets you control them, and makes them impervious to any features of the stage that might destroy them.

Super powers make it waaaay easier to collect all the stars and make sure the candies get safely to Om Nom and his ancestor.

Developer ZeptoLab is in a great position with the Cut the Rope franchise. New releases don't have to reinvent the series in order to entertain, they just have to live up to the high standards set by the original. Cut the Rope: Time Travel definitely does that, providing the same responsive, realistic physics and cartoon-like graphics that never cease to entertain. The time travel mechanic is a great excuse to add themed level packs, and with two Om Noms to feed, things can get a little more complicated in later stages. There are nearly 100 levels to work your way through, which is probably all the excuse you needed to start up your rope cutting addition again!

Cut the Rope: Time Travel is a Cut the Rope game that was released on April 18, 2013. It shows Om Nom travelling back to the time of his ancestors. In terms of gameplay, the player now has to feed candy to two monsters rather than to only one.

Cut the Rope: Time Travel final shots

Unlike the original game, boxes now contain 15 levels each. The story begins in 2013, when a time machine appears in Om Nom's room while he is trying to eat a piece of candy. The time machine opens and sucks in Om Nom's candy. The little creature tries to get it back, but is sucked into the time machine. He appears too fat to get through. He tries to push himself out, but is sucked back in, making Om Nom start a journey through several epoques. As of February 2017, the game features 12 time periods (2 unreleased).

• The Middle Ages is the first epoque. Om Nom meets his medieval ancestor, who wears a horned helmet. Chains are introduced, which play the same role as ropes, but can only be broken with special blades, which can also break the candy. This box also serves as an introduction for newcomers and is the fifth epoque in chronological order.
• The Renaissance features another Om Nom's ancestor, with a feather in his hat, a sharp beard and moustache, who resembles an image of Renaissance artists and scientists. Time freeze is the base mechanic for this level pack, as it gives great control over the movements of the both candies, though it also introduce spikes and air cushions as well. This is also the sixth epoque in chronological order.
• Pirate Ship introduces bombs that explode on impact, throwing off all the nearby objects and introduces bouncing platform that bounce objects. The ancestor seems to be a pirate captain, wearing a hat, an earring and smoking a pipe. This is also the seventh epoque in chronological order.
• Ancient Egypt features flying candy that follows the movements of another candy and rockets. The ancestor is wearing white and blue striped nemes , a pharaoh's headdress. This is also the second epoque in chronological order.
• Ancient Greece  ancestor is wearing a laurel wreath. Two rotating platforms with Om Nom and his ancestor are present in each level, so only one creature is present at any moment. A button switches the platform whenever a candy passes by. This age also introduces portals and is the third epoque in chronological order.
• The Stone Age ancestor is notably bigger than Om Nom, has some spots on the belly and a bone as a head decoration. The player is able to move stones forward and backward, which results in stars , spikes , portals , bouncing platforms etc. moving with a clock. This is also the first epoque in chronological order, though that's pretty obvious.
• Disco Era ancestor is wearing bug-eye sunglasses and curly hair, with appearance resembling the idols of the 70s. The player must stop the beam lights (which destroy the candy) with the help of a disco ball . This is also the tenth epoque in chronological order.
• Wild West ancestor is wearing a western sheriff hat and has grey hair and a mustache. He also has wheat in his mouth. The play is able to touch the candies with glowing ropes around them to connect one rope with them together. This is also the ninth epoque in chronological order.
• Asian Dynasty ancestor wearing a hat and a long white beard. In this age, a brand new red Chinese hand fan can hide the elements in the level. This is also the fourth epoque in chronological order.
• Industrial Age ancestor wearing a black hat, resembles to the magic hat in Cut the Rope with a mustache. In this age, magnet button makes the candies attach each-other. This is also the hardest age ever and is the eighth epoque in chronological order.
• The Future ancestor (or more appropriately descendant) is wearing futuristic-like helmet and gloves. He also sounds like a robot. This level features a radio candy that moves along with Future Om Nom's platform. It requires completion of the previous levels to unlock. This is also the last epoque in chronological order, though that's pretty obvious.
• Parallel Universe features nothing new, as it is a collection of the previous ancestors. Because of this, this box has no specific epoque and is therefore null and void to the timeline. The box, unlike others, has 20 levels. It requires 3 star completion of the previous levels to unlock.

The story finishes with Om Nom reaching a vault full of candy. We see him with a crown decorated with candies. It's unknown how he got home, but somehow he probably did.

Web series adaptation

Om Nom Stories cartoon series launched a new season along with the release of Time Travel . These animated shorts give more detail on Om Nom traveling in time.

Achievements

The game includes achievements system implemented with the help of Scoreloop service. As of August 2013, the game has 29 achievements.
