Best option for transportation from Orlando Airport to Port Canaveral to cruise.

I've cruised many times and have endured the bus transportation that the cruise lines provide to get to Port Canaveral being herded like cattle. Cortrans Shuttle Service was exceptional in every way. They were right on time and ran on schedule. We were picked up in a shuttle van with 12 very comfortable seats. Our luggage was taken and placed in the back. The van was new, clean and well cared for. The ride was very comfortable and the driver was extremely personable. The cruise lines charge $35 to $40 one way for transportation. Cortrans charges $20 each way. When we debarked the ship, the shuttle driver was waiting for us and showed us to the shuttle bus. This is the absolute best transportation to Port Canaveral from Orlando. Five stars out of five. Book now.

So happy I canceled a rental car and used Cortrans for shuttle from MCO to Radisson at the Port and then from Port Canaveral back to MCO after our Carnival Magic cruise. The service was outstanding. We were early off the ship and were able to get on an earlier shuttle to the airport.

Extremely great experience with this service. Great friendly people to work with! They picked us up directly from out hotel and shuttled us to Port Canaveral for our Disney cruise on May 21st and return back to MCO on May 28th, right on schedule! Very fair pricing for our family of 3 plus lap child. I will for sure use them in the future next time I need transportation to Port Canaveral. So much better than dealing with the mobs and expense on the Disney Cruise Line bus service!!! Family owned and operated business and the pride in their company shows!!!

This is the second time in a year we have used Cortrans to/from Port Canaveral. Again, the service was outstanding. Received email confirmation within a short time of making reservation. The service picked us up on time at our hotel and were there waiting when we disembarked the ship. The drivers were very friendly. This is a family run business and the owner boarded the shuttle before we left the cruise port and thanked everyone for their business and introduced us to his family that supported the business. The cost is $40 round trip per person and you do not pay until you board the shuttle. I will always use this service when sailing out of Port Canaveral. A+++++ service, consistent experience and highly recommend! (see my other review for more details).

I used this shuttle service to pick me up from my hotel at Orlando Airport and take me to Port Canaveral for my Carnival Cruise. Eric was my driver both times. Very nice and friendly and showed up early each time. For me that was awesome because on both occasions (leaving Orlando / coming back) I was ready to go. Drive was good and quick (not fast - just didn't seem like it took that long). Would use them again and you should too.

Found this company trough TripAdvisor reviews. Booked transportation from cruise terminal to MCO for 4 people. Top to bottom superb. Easy booking. Super impressed with efficiency, personal involvement, vehicle and the price was excellent. Coordinators arrived early, van was early, too and ready to leave when we were. Once on the van, Jaime, the owner, personally greeted us and thanked us for our business - a wonderful touch. We will definitely book with Cortrans every time we cruise out of Orlando.

Among your choices for transportation, cruise shuttle services stand out for their convenience and reliability. Many lines offer a dedicated airport shuttle to cruise port service that you can book on their website or cruise app.

Often, you can simply add cruise shuttles to your package and the cruise line takes care of the rest. Some lines may also have partnerships with local transportation providers, allowing you to book cruise ship shuttles directly.

Booking these cruise shuttles often requires a simple addition to your cruise package, and it's wise to check the options available through your cruise line's website or customer service. Many lines provide useful tools like cruise apps and websites, and some lines have partnerships with local transportation providers and will let you book cruise ship shuttles directly.

If you’re staying at a hotel near cruise port locations, you may have access to “cruise bus” services that will take you directly to your ship. Using the hotel’s shuttle to cruise ship service not only makes embarkation day easier but also lets you see more of the city you're leaving from. When booking your hotel, ask about their shuttle service to cruise terminal locations, including any associated fees or scheduling requirements. Opting for a hotel shuttle can streamline your port transportation needs, letting you focus on the excitement of your upcoming sailing.

Smartphone screen with a selection of ride-sharing apps, including Lyft and Uber, convenient for transportation to cruise terminals.

Deciding between taking a taxi and booking a car service to cruise terminal locations can be tough. Consider important factors such as cost, availability, and personal preference to make the right choice. In a large port city, taxi rides may be your best bet because of their set prices and easy access. However, ride-sharing apps can be more convenient for cruise transportation, allowing you to select your car, arrival time, and pick-up spot.

The size of your group is also an important consideration for your cruise port transportation. For solo travelers or couples, taking a Lyft or Uber from the airport to cruise port is suitable, especially in cities where ride-sharing is prevalent. But travel groups with over 6 people will find taxis more convenient, as they remove the wait for the right-sized ride.

Mercedes shuttle van on the road providing group transport to the cruise terminal, blending convenience with luxury travel.

Group travel can make cruise transfers more difficult, but it can also open doors for fun shared experiences. Charter buses, large passenger vans, and even group rates for shuttle services can offer efficient and cost-effective transportation for your party. When planning a group cruise, booking early is crucial to secure the best options and rates, ensuring that your group arrives together and is ready to begin your cruise adventure.

Booking a private limousine or car service can add a touch of luxury to your trip, well make it more convenient for group travelers. Private services offer unique advantages as well, such as access to exclusive entrances at certain air and sea ports.

Drive Yourself: Cars, Bikes & Motorcycles

Motorcyclist and cars on a bustling city street at sunset, representing self-drive options for cruise terminal transportation.

If you're driving to the cruise terminal, it's important to know about hotel and cruise parking options and how much they cost. Most cruise ports offer dedicated parking areas, with prices varying by proximity to the terminal and length of stay. For secure and worry-free vehicle parking, choose official cruise port parking that has clear prices and security. Tips for saving on these fees include researching off-site parking options with shuttle service to the terminal, which can offer significant discounts.

Many Cruise terminals also support eco-friendly travel by offering special parking for bikes and motorcycles. If you're driving an electric vehicle, check out our list of ports with EV charging stations.

Interior view of a city bus with bright yellow grab bars, providing public transportation to the cruise terminal.

If you’re an adventurous traveler, taking public transportation to cruise ship ports is an efficient way to soak in the city’s people and rhythm. A train, tram or bus to cruise terminal locations also provides a direct, wallet-friendly route in many big cities. In your port city, airport transit may also be available, allowing seamless travel from the airport to your cruise ship.

However, you may prefer other choices from our list for cruise port transfers if you’re traveling with heavy luggage or in a large group.

In European cities, where public transport is known for its efficiency, using buses, trains, or trams can make getting from the airport or your hotel to the cruise terminal smooth and easy.

Planning is key: research your route in advance and always allow time for the unexpected. Download local public transportation apps to find routes, the latest schedules, and ticket costs for the smoothest ride.

Stay informed about safety tips and travel advisories while planning your cruise terminal transfer. Check for travel warnings or advisories for your port and destination, especially if you’re navigating unfamiliar cities. Get familiar with local emergency numbers and your country’s embassy or consulate location if you’re traveling internationally.

While traveling, be sure to keep your belongings secure and in sight, especially in crowded areas. If you use a transportation provider, opt for a reputable company. Be wary of unsolicited offers from taxi or private drivers who may not follow best practices.

Disney Cruise Line Transfer

If you and your family are going on a Disney cruise, Disney Cruise Line offers a transport bus from the airport directly to the Disney terminal at Port Canaveral. There’s a special pickup location at the airport called Disney’s Magical Express. I have personally used this option when taking a Disney cruise.

Service begins around 9 AM, but the first shuttle leaves the airport at approximately 9:30 AM. Make sure that your flight gets in before 1:30 PM, as the shuttle won’t be available after that time.

On the way to the port, the bus will play a informational video getting you pumped up for your cruise.

Reservations must be booked online at least 3 days before your cruise via your Disney Cruise check-in.

If you’re staying at a Walt Disney World Resort, you’ll be picked up by DCL Transfer there instead. Your hotel room at the resort will have a letter with instructions regarding luggage and pickup. Just follow those instructions on cruise day so you don’t miss your shuttle.

SuperShuttle

This is another great way to get transportation to and from the cruise port when you fly into Orlando. They offer your choice of travel: shared ride shuttle, non-stop shuttle (literally means no stops between the airport and your destination), and black car services (provided through ExecuCar).

You can choose one-way travel, but they recommend that you opt for round trip as it’ll save you money. Also keep in mind that a shared ride, though cheaper, is only going to be available if other people have booked transportation for the same route for around the same timeframe.

You can also get airline rewards every time you book shuttle service through them. You just choose your preferred program: American Airlines AAdvantage, Delta SkyMiles, Frontier EarlyReturns, Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards, or United MileagePlus. It’s as easy as connecting your SuperShuttle account with your airline rewards number.

How much does Uber/Lyft cost from MCO to Port Canaveral?

Even though this is more expensive than taking a shuttle, it’s my personal preferred method of going to the cruise port. I’ve done it several times and will probably do it again on my next cruise.

There are two benefits to using Uber or Lyft. The first is that you get a private car all to yourself. The second is that you can request a ride whenever you’re ready and not have to worry about the scheduling times of shuttles.

In the past, I have paid anywhere from $60-$80 for a basic car, but a lot can depend on time of day, surge pricing, etc.

If you want or need a larger vehicle, it will likely cost over $100 each way.

Does Amtrak go to Port Canaveral from Orlando airport?

In short, no they don’t. However, there is an option you can take that requires multiple transfers from busses, to a train, and then a shuttle bus to the port. Because of this, I personally don’t see anyone choosing this option because of the time it takes and the pain of carrying luggage with multiple types of transfers.

Also, Brightline does not have a station near Port Canaveral at this time.

port canaveral shuttle service

Deciding which mode of transportation you’re going to take for your cruise out of Port Canaveral all depends on you. What’s best for one person is not best for everyone.

Personally, I just take a Lyft or Uber because I like the convenience of it. I have taken shuttles in the past but waiting in line to check-in, then waiting again for the bus just wasn’t for me.

Whichever you decide, we hope you have a great cruise.

Cool Cruiser

Never sailed out of Canaveral-any advice on the best way logistically to get from MCO to a Canaveral hotel night before then shuttle to port in the morning? and also back to MCO after cruise. And if I have a 12pm flight leaving after cruise, will that be enough time to disembark, get back to MCO and be butt down on my flight home?

Thanks for any tips

We stayed at Comfort Suites Orlando airport and used cruisecontrol-transportation.com on the day of the cruise. They were super easy to work with and pick you up directly at the airport or your hotel. Great company. Highly recommend!

Thank you both-will cruise control provide shuttle back to airport after the cruise? and is a 12pm flight pushing it?

Note that the Orlando airport is 45-60 minutes from the port, so a noon flight could be pushing it if there are any delays getting the ship into port, or clearing customs to allow debarkation to begin.

I've used both Cortrans and Cocoa Beach Shuttle from MCO to port area hotels, and from the ship back to MCO... Great service with both companies.

We have the transportation company named Cruise Control booked for our upcoming January cruise from Port Canaveral. They were recommended on the Florida departures board.

I've used both of these and found the service good.  The best transportation I have used to get from MCO to a port hotel was Uber.  I've done that twice and it was so nice.   To get from the port hotel to the cruise ship, I usually use the hotel's shuttle. The last time I cruised, I used Uber because my check in time was early.

We are thinking of flying in a day early and spending the night in Coco Beach or Port Canaveral.  Do any of these transfer from MCO to a hotel in Coco Beach or Port Canaveral?

We took a Lyft.  Not far.

jennas_mum,

I'm just curious how you liked the Comfort Suitees Orland airport hotel? Is this the one on McCoy Rd? I have a reservation here for a pre cruise stay next March and I have seen some mixed reviews, mostly good but a few bad reviews mixed in. Would you recommend this hotel and stay there again? How is the location as far as places to eat within walking distance? We don't need anything fancy, just a clean hotel and room in a decent neighborhood. Thanks

I have stayed there twice in the last year and have zero complaints. I would certainly stay there again. They had a good breakfast as far as hotel breaskfasts go. Clean.

If I remember correctly, there isn't much close to eat but a waffle house. Believe it was walking distance.

thank you very much for this information, I will take this as a very positive review. As long as the hotel and rooms are clean, we can always take an uber, lyft or get delivery for food. Also a good breakfast at the hotel is also a plus.

Slim restaurant choices because the area is industrial. But if you don't want Waffle House, then Lechonera Sajoma Latin Restaurant across the road is different and pretty good. McCoy Rd is busy and difficult to cross at times.

I don’t personally have any firsthand knowledge but I see a lot of people posting positive experiences with them…

You can get a private shuttle with cruise control for just your party for the return. It runs about $110, but you don't have to wait for it to fill with others and be on your way to airport faster for your noon flight. Also, consider getting tsa pre check. Then a noon flight will have a much better chance of working out.
