Well, I work for Costco Travel, almost 14 years!! I love my job and hey... who doesn't like to travel!?? We're growing almost too fast for comfort... Lately we've been extremely busy (Cruise Department) because I think the WORD is out... cruising is not just for the retired and folks with money. There is something for everyone and you can trust that Costco will get you great rates/benefits and our Member Service is through the roof, we WORK hard for each member. Ps- never call directly after a major holiday (when we've been closed) especially for something minor. We will have a tremendous hold time!

Do not use Costco Travel for your vacations, they lack customer support, this is shameful! I made a vacation package (Maui) reservation for my 40th Anniversary from Costco travel three months before my vacation date, I paid extra for Ocean view but no extra charge for parking. 24hours before my travel I received an email from Costco travel informed me that the Air condition of the Hotel is broken and they can offer me $50 rebate to stay in the warm humid room or I can be canceled without any penalty. I contacted the Costco Travel customer service and the only thing that they offered was standard room in another Hotel with higher rate (because it was on the day before my travel) and $30 per night for parking and if I wanted upgrade to Ocean view I had to pay $690 extra! When I complained about the situation they did not offer any discount and simply told me that they are very sorry! I am certain that they made even more money by my paying extra for the hotel. In reality CostoTravel just sells travel packages with no customer service or protection, that is not acceptable from a reputable company like Costco. Do not use Costco Travel for you vacations what they sell is "AS IS" with no support, they are many other better company that they honor their services! My Biggest regret is not reading Yelp before I used them.

My most recent experience with Costco Travels was horrible. Their customer services simply don't exist. If you want to speak with their rep, just forget it. On three different occasions, I tested my patience and failed every time. I was told in greeting that a rep will be there in 5 to 10 minutes. First time I hung up after 65 minutes on hold, second time I challenged myself and was on hold for 121 minutes and finally hung up, the last time I hung up after 1 hour wait. I will never use Costco Travel again. The Costa Rica Package that we bought through them was over blown with false promises. After spending over $4500 for 2 persons, we realized it was disappointing.

If you ever cancel or need to rebook they are basically used car salesmen. They constantly lie and make up different reasons why you can't do this or that and keep you on hold so they wear you down to increase prices. They told me it was a 2 hour wait time to get ahold of the airlines. I called the airline directly and got ahold of them in 5 minutes. They do this to increase the price they first quoted and then by the time you have waited the price has magically gone up. They tell you they have negotiated prices in one phone call, the next they don't have those. Full of lies and manipulation.

Last September we booked a vacation to Secrets San Jose del Cabo Mexico thru Costco travel, It was the worst vacation ever. The resort is nice, but the lack of service and quality of the food is very poor. From the time That we arrived around 3:00 pm we had to wait close to 2 hours to get our room, at the pool waiting was about an hour just to get a drink, at the restaurants we waited an average of 20 minutes even with a reservation. The quality of the food was awful, the breakfast buffet did not even have oatmeal. The resort was not very busy with guests but it looked like they were very short staff. To get our room clean we would have to wait until late in the afternoon. I did write a review at the resort and they denied what we experienced with them to Costco travel. I'm so disappointed with Costco because they chose to believe Secrets rather than us who have been a very loyal customer for many years. This was not the first vacation that we booked thru Costco Travel but it was the last one.

Looong wait times and the only option to modify an existing reservation is to call in. Also, don't book a rental car with them or you may be surprised to learn about the lack of vehicle, on the day of expected pickup. I'm still on hold by the way....15 minutes later and counting

I used Costco travel to rent a Avis jeep. What an awful experience. The Avis rep loaded me up with unnecessary insurance with a BS story about hail and road conditions in Utah. Never use Costco Travel or Avis !!

Costco Travel does not have any leverage with Royal Caribbean. They do not care. They are not a travel agent that will fight for you. When booking a Royal Caribbean cruise this year we went through the Costco Travel agency hoping that like most travel agents do, Costco Travel would have our backs if something goes awry. We were also lured by the $300 Costco Shop Card that you would get by booking through their site. The Costco Travel website is antiquated. When we contacted them over the phone, it turned out they were seeing multiple reservations for us on their site because the application "builds" a reservation every time you select a stateroom. Who does not like to play around on the website? The agent was also able to see a number of staterooms that were not showing as available to us. They couldn't explain why that would be the case and agreed how inconvenient that was since you had to call them to see if there are better options from what you can see for yourself. After a 2 hour long call we were able to secure our reservation, thanks to the travel agent. The day before departing for the cruise, we had a medical emergency and were not able to leave. We contacted Costco Travel in hopes they would help us reason with Royal Caribbean and get a partial refund since this was a medical emergency. Costco Travel's initial response was just to spell out the Royal Caribbean's late cancellation policy: no refunds if the cruise is canceled within 30 days of the departure date. Eventually we were able to get a manager to reluctantly submit our medical paperwork to a Royal Caribbean travel site. That was all they were willing to do. An email. No agent was willing to pick up a phone and put up a flight. We could not speak to Royal Caribbean directly because we did not book directly with them. We were stuck and Costco Travel was not willing to stand up for us. They simply have no leverage with the cruise company. Their email response was the same: if you cancel within 30 days of the cruise departure day, the cruise is not refundable. We get the Royal Caribbean policy. There is a good reason why it is in place. It is the unwillingness of Costco Travel to even try to get an exception was disappointing. We ended up fully paying for the cruise we could not go onto. After 5 weeks when no Costco Shop Card arrived, we contacted Costco Travel to be told that because we did not go on the cruise, we are not eligible for the Shop Card. Just like that. They said according to their policy if a cruise is canceled, the Shop Card is not issued. We did not cancel the cruise. This policy does not make any sense in our case, but no matter how much we tried to explain it, the response was the same. Don't get involved with Costco Travel. Book directly and when something comes up you will be able to stand up for yourself.

While booking on Costco Travel was fairly easy and we saved a few bucks overall...it comes at a price and enjoyment of your vacation. the biggest issues were that they are 3rd party as i kept hearing and any of your preferences, notes for the hotel and even your seat selection on the airplanes mean NOTHING. Both hotels said they nmever received any info about my hotel requests from Costco and my first 2 flights, we did NOT have the seats we selected! I called Costco as i wanted to ensure i had my seats for my 6 hours flight home and they told me not only do i not have an ailse seat...me and my Wife were not sitting together! What, i was so choked and they its ultimatley up to the airline? I knew it was BS as i caled the airline and no surpirse, they said they never got seating info from Costco!!! Alaska Air did step up and put my Wife and I together and got us an aisle seat as well so i appreciated their effort. So beware as next time i would rather pay more and get the hotel room i wanted and seats i selected. I actually selected a much worse flight as on Costco.com it was the only flight with seats together so to find out it didnt matter and i could have taken a much better flight was very dissapointing.

Had a bad experience on our trip to Hawaii. We booked a room on 2 different islands. The condo they put us in on Kauai was old with disgusting shag carpet and no A/C. In order to get any air in the condo you had to have all windows open, so very loud as you could hear everything from outside and other condos. We called and they had no other place to put us. We moved to a place we found on our own, costing us an additional $1200.00 and loss of a day of our vacation plus the night of no sleep. No follow up or response when we reached out multiple times, not an email or call. Will never use them again!

If I could put less than one star I definitely would. We had reserved a car through Costco and Budget for our trip. When we arrived to pick up our car the Budget employee said that they didn't have our car available. She offered a larger car for a premium price. I declined to pay more for a mistake that was not mine. She also told us and many other patrons that we were the only ones waiting for a car. This was not true there was multiple people waiting for cars that were reserved but not available. After hours of waiting and talking to Budget and Costco on the phone everyone told me to rent a car somewhere else and the difference would be paid for. Well this clearly was not the case and now I am stuck over $300 more then the original price. Needless to say I will never rent a car again from either Budget or Costco due to them not standing up to there side of the agreement.
