A love story spanning two decades between two men who are at the opposite ends of the political spectrum during the 1970s and 1980s. In 1973, Alan Oakley lives as a straight, uptight Young Republican working for an establishment newspaper--until he meets Tommy Ballenger, a Texas teenager who has moved to Los Angeles to work for gay rights. When Alan first meets him - at a party organized by Peter Baxter, an older entertainment lawyer, Alan sees Tommy as a potential interview subject for his book, a conservative attack on gay rights that he plans to call "The Straight Truth." Before he knows quite what has happened, Alan finds himself in bed and falling for Tommy. Alan and Tommy soon become the perfect couple, which rouses the envy of Peter, who promptly devises a cunning plan to break them up that includes publishing Alan's long-abandoned, long-repudiated manuscript anonymously.

‘It just grabbed her’: Giraffe picks up toddler during family trip to drive-thru safari

GLEN ROSE, Texas ( KWTX /Gray News) - A family in Texas says they went through quite the scare when recently visiting a wildlife center.

According to the Toten family, a giraffe accidentally picked their toddler up out of the bed of their truck when they were visiting the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center on June 1.

KWTX reports that park visitors get to drive themselves along a path where exotic and endangered animals roam free at the center.

Visitors are also allowed to feed the animals.

The family said Paisley, 2, was in the back of the pickup truck with her mom feeding the animals when the giraffe grabbed her shirt and lifted the little girl into the air.

Paisley’s father, Jason Toten, said the incident was caught on video by a car behind them.

“We stopped to feed the giraffes and I turned around to look out the back window,” he said. “That’s when I saw the giraffe kind of digging around and then it just grabbed her.”

According to the Toten family, it appeared to be a complete accident and they didn’t break any rules.

“Paisley was holding the bag, and the giraffe went to go get the bag, not her, but it ended up getting her shirt too and picked her up,” Toten said.

Thankfully, Paisley didn’t get too high up before the giraffe dropped her.

“As soon as she went up, her mom yelled, ‘Hey!’ and the giraffe let go,” Toten said.

Paisley’s father said she ended up falling into her mother’s arms without anyone getting hurt, but it still was a scary moment.

“My heart stopped, my stomach dropped … it scared me,” Toten said.

Afterward, Toten said they went to the gift shop and got Paisley a toy giraffe because “she deserved it.”

The family said they do plan on returning to the park in the future.

According to the wildlife center, visitors are allowed to ride in the bed of a truck if an adult is riding in the back with them and everyone is safely inside the vehicle.

After guilty verdict, Trump will appear on the ballot in the last presidential primaries of 2024

Biden y Trump acuerdan dos debates, en junio y septiembre

NEW YORK (AP) — Donald Trump’s name will appear on the ballot Tuesday for the first time since  his historic conviction on felony crimes  as a handful of states hold the  last Republican presidential primary contests  of 2024.

The former president will be on the ballot in Republican contests in  Montana ,  New Jersey  and  New Mexico . President Joe Biden, the presumptive Democratic nominee, will compete in primaries in the same states, plus the primary in  Washington, D.C. , and one in  South Dakota .

Republicans in D.C.  held a party-run primary in March . South Dakota canceled its GOP presidential primary because Trump was uncontested.

Voters will also cast ballots in primary races for federal, state and local offices in those states.

Trump and Biden are both expected to easily prevail in the contests, where they’re the last major candidates still running.

But the results could signal voter concerns about their choices as November’s election barrels closer.

If Trump’s margins of victory are closer than expected, it could be a sign that voters have hesitations about nominating a presidential candidate with  a felony criminal record .

Trump’s domination in the primary has also been shadowed by  ongoing support from a minority of GOP voters  for former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley, who dropped out in March. Tuesday’s contests will be the first since Haley  said two weeks ago that she would vote for Trump  in November. They may be an indicator of whether her supporters will follow her.

Biden has faced his own  ongoing protest vote  in recent contests as Democratic voters unhappy with his handling of Israel’s war with Hamas seek to register their disapproval. There are organized campaigns in several states Tuesday to vote for “uncommitted” in the Democratic contests. In New Jersey’s primary, “uncommitted” will be on the ballot in many counties above the phrase, “Justice For Palestine, Permanent Ceasefire Now!”

After Tuesday, Democrats have two additional caucuses on June 8, for Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands, to close out their 2024 primary calendar.

Beyond the presidential contests, the states are holding primary elections for federal and local races Tuesday, with one of the most watched being the Republican Senate race in Montana.

Retired Navy SEAL Tim Sheehy has the backing of Trump and national Republican leaders as he faces two other candidates in the race. The winner will challenge Democratic Sen. Jon Tester in what’s expected to be one of the most competitive races that could decide control of the chamber.

Republicans will also pick a nominee to replace Rep. Matt Rosendale, who is retiring after he originally sought to run in the Senate contest but dropped out when Trump endorsed Sheehy.

In New Jersey, Democrats will pick a candidate to replace scandal-plagued  Sen. Bob Menendez , who is on trial in New York on federal corruption charges. Menendez decided not to run in the primary. He filed paperwork Monday to run in the general election as an independent candidate.

Rep. Andy Kim is seen as the front-runner for the Democratic nomination.

Vying for the Republican nomination are businessman Curtis Bashaw, Navy veteran Albert Harshaw, former Tabernacle Deputy Mayor Justin Murphy and Mendham Borough Mayor Christine Serrano Glassner, who has Trump’s backing.

Five Democrats will compete in a primary for the state’s 3rd District, which Kim holds and is expected to stay in Democratic hands in November.

Menendez’s son, first-term Rep. Rob Menendez, is facing a tough primary challenge in New Jersey’s 8th District from Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla.

In New Mexico, where Democrats hold all three of the state’s U.S. House seats, only one primary will be held in the 1st District. Republicans Louie Sanchez and Steve Jones will compete to take on incumbent Melanie Stansbury in a Democratic-leaning district based in Albuquerque.

In D.C., voters will decide a primary for the city’s nonvoting delegate to the U.S. House, and in  Iowa , which kicked off the presidential contests in January with its first-in-the-nation caucuses, voters will pick nominees in primary elections for local races and U.S. House seats, including one that could play a key role in determining control of the House.

Democrats in the Des Moines-area 3rd Congressional District will choose a nominee to take on a first-term Republican U.S. Rep. Zach Nunn, who edged out an incumbent Democrat in 2022.

Throughout its history, Disney has produced some of the most iconic, influential, and critically acclaimed animated movies in cinema history, carving its name into the eternal pedestal of pop culture. While some Disney animated films can be long, the longest animated film of all time is Studio MAPPA's In This Corner of the World , whose extended version has a 168-minute runtime.

Disney movies are significantly shorter in comparison — Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs , the first Disney film, is around 83 minutes long. Given young viewers' limited attention spans and most Disney animated films catered to children, it doesn't make sense for animated movies to be longer than two hours anyway. However, many Disney animated films can be considered 'long,' and only one Disney production surpasses this implicit time limit.

Updated on June 4, 2024, by David Giatras: Disney is considered a legend in the animation world and has shown no signs of slowing down. Some of its animated films have been longer than the traditional runtime for various reasons. This article has been updated to include more information about these movies and bring it up to current CBR standards.

20 Wish Was Disney's Centennial Animated Film Release

Runtime: 95 minutes, 10 valid reasons audiences didn’t like wish.

Wish is Disney's latest animated feature and while there have been some unfair critiques, the movie still has some valid complaints against it.

Wish follows the young Asha (Ariana DeBose), who gets more than she bargained for when she makes a wish upon a star, which causes the star to literally come down from the sky. The mischievous star accompanies Asha as she works to expose the devious plans of King Magnifico, ruler of Rosas, who is also trying to get his hands on the star.

The voice cast includes Chris Pine, Alan Tudyk, Angelique Cabral, Victor Garber, and Harvey Guillen. While Wish received a mixed response from critics and moviegoers, it did win the Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Film in 2024. It was also heavily marketed as Disney’s animated film to be released on its 100th anniversary in 2023, which put it at a slightly longer runtime than most animated films.

19 Treasure Planet Has Gained A Cult Following

Treasure Planet is a science-fiction adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic 1883 novel Treasure Island . It follows Jim Hawkins, a young adventurer who finds a treasure map belonging to a great space pirate. He sets out to find the treasure, said to be stashed on the fabled “Treasure Planet,” and finds that the cyborg John Silver is also in hot pursuit of the treasure.

The film was meant to start a new franchise for Disney, but these plans ultimately fell through due to poor box office numbers. It faced stiff competition from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets , The Santa Clause 2 and Die Another Day . It has since become a cult classic, and the film’s appeal has only broadened since its release over 20 years ago. Fans still cling to hope that a sequel will be made someday.

Treasure Planet

18 meet the robinsons' characters have endured, 10 best disney animated films before the renaissance.

Before the Renaissance era, Disney movies were hit or miss with some truly iconic standouts that fans still talk about today.

Meet the Robinsons follows orphaned inventor Lewis, whose inventions and overall demeanor have scared off potential adoptive parents, leaving Lewis desperate to be adopted. One day, he meets Wilbur Robinson, a time-traveling visitor who he travels with to 2037 to meet his family. Lewis works with the family in the future to stop the evil Bowler Hat Guy and change their futures.

Another potential franchise doomed by box office failures, the film still received mostly positive reviews. A direct-to-video sequel was canceled in 2007 after Disney canceled development on all direct-to-video sequels. The film’s characters still hold appeal even 15 years after its release, as a handful of them appeared in Disney’s centennial anniversary short Once Upon a Studio .

Meet the Robinsons

Lewis is a brilliant inventor who meets mysterious stranger named Wilbur Robinson, whisking Lewis away in a time machine and together they team up to track down Bowler Hat Guy in a showdown that ends with an unexpected twist of fate.

17 Bolt Got Disney Back On Track

Runtime: 96 minutes.

Bolt stars John Travolta as the dog Bolt, who believes he has superpowers due to living on television series sets over the years. Bolt sets out on a cross-country trip to save his costar, whom he thinks was kidnapped for real. He teams up with a wise-cracking cat and hamster to help get his costar back. The voice cast includes Miley Cyrus, Susie Essman, Malcolm McDowell and James Lipton.

Bolt proved to be a very important film for Disney despite not receiving any sequels. It got the studio back on track in terms of its CGI-based projects and gave future films a template they could follow. As a result, some of the future films that benefitted were Tangled and Frozen , some of Disney’s biggest hits of the 2010s.

16 Atlantis: The Lost Empire Is Just Shy of One Hundred Minutes

15 funniest animated disney characters, ranked.

Disney movies are known for their heart, scares and sad moments. But they also feature some of the funniest side characters to ever be animated.

Atlantis: The Lost Empire isn't close to some of the longest Disney films, with a runtime of only 96 minutes, and occupies a genre space between The Little Mermaid and Treasure Planet , classified as a hybrid sci-fi/fantasy feature that failed to wow reviewers when it was released in 2001. Starring the vocal talents of Leonard Nimoy, James Garner, and Michael J. Fox, this Disney movie was severely criticized for its shapeless storyline and weak character arcs.

On the other hand, other critics praised the ending for its action sequences, even if the rest of the film wasn't as impactful as the ending. Furthermore, the movie has become somewhat of a cult classic in the decades since its release, earning it a following even if it wasn't financially successful.

Atlantis: The Lost Empire

A young linguist named Milo Thatch joins an intrepid group of explorers to find the mysterious lost continent of Atlantis.

15 The Princess And The Frog Marked A Return To Traditional Animation

Runtime: 97 minutes.

The Princess and the Frog takes viewers to New Orleans during the 1920s and follows waitress Tiana, who hopes to own her own restaurant someday. Tiana kisses Prince Naveen, and she turns into a frog. They work together to turn themselves back into humans. Anika Noni Rose and Bruno Campos voice the lead roles.

The film marked Disney’s return to traditional hand-drawn animation for the first time since 2004. As a result, it was a hit and Disney’s most successful animated film since Lilo & Stitch seven years prior. The film’s popularity has endured over the years, and Splash Mountain at Disney theme parks has been rebranded as Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and will open later in 2024.

The Princess and the Frog

A waitress, desperate to fulfill her dreams as a restaurant owner, is set on a journey to turn a frog prince back into a human being, but she has to face the same problem after she kisses him.

14 Tangled Didn't Need a Lot of Time to Captivate Audiences

Runtime: 100 minutes.

Disney's Tangled takes a rather unique approach to the original fairy tale Rapunzel by the Brothers Grimm, which ends with the protagonist giving birth to twins. Rapunzel is locked in a high tower until Flynn Rider stumbles upon her, and the two embark on a journey where Rapunzel quickly learns about the world and her past.

Tangled blends seemingly distinct narrative tropes like adventure, action, comedy, and romance, crafting a delightful story for audiences of any age. It went on to earn a nomination for Best Original Song at the Golden Globes and the Academy Awards. Tangled 's 100-minute runtime makes it the ideal popcorn flick. Still incredibly popular over a decade after its release, Tangled is destined for a live-action remake , much like the many other Disney animated films before it.

The magically long-haired Rapunzel has spent her entire life in a tower, but now that a runaway thief has stumbled upon her, she is about to discover the world for the first time, and who she really is.

13 Wreck-It Ralph Gave a Villain Enough Time to Shine

Runtime: 101 minutes.

Wreck-It Ralph subverts the classic arcade game concept by reframing a villain in heroic terms. The titular protagonist struggles to escape his typecast role despite opposition from all quarters, at least until everyone realizes that Ralph actually has a good heart.

This heartwarming flick grossed nearly half a billion dollars at the box office, making three times its production budget. Wreck-It Ralph would likely have won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature if Pixar's Brave hadn't been in contention. Interestingly, Ralph Breaks the Internet has a runtime of 112 minutes, approximately eleven minutes longer than its predecessor.

Wreck-It Ralph

A video game villain wants to be a hero and sets out to fulfill his dream, but his quest brings havoc to the whole arcade where he lives.

12 Frozen Only Needed About Ninety Minutes to Melt the Audience's Heart

Runtime: 102 minutes, 15 most popular disney songs on spotify.

Disney movies are been known for their animation, stories and songs. But from The Lion King to Frozen, these movies have the most played tunes.

Frozen is loosely based on The Snow Queen by Hans Christian Andersen, although this Disney movie isn't anything like a typical fairy tale. Upon release, It received near-universal acclaim, with viewers and reviewers drawing parallels to Disney classics like Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast . A far cry from the Disney Princess films that came before it, Frozen became an instant hit.

Frozen is about as close to perfection as a Western animated movie can get — spectacular casting, gorgeous visuals, and an iconic soundtrack. It eventually won the Academy Awards for Best Original Song and Best Animated Feature and countless other prestigious prizes. Frozen is one minute shorter than its sequel, Frozen II .

When the newly crowned Queen Elsa accidentally uses her power to turn things into ice to curse her home in infinite winter, her sister Anna teams up with a mountain man, his playful reindeer, and a snowman to change the weather condition.

11 Encanto Features Many Iconic Songs In a Short Time

To some viewers, Encanto feels like a watered-down version of Coco , Pixar's 2017 masterpiece. However, Disney gave the Madrigal family their own narrative voice, transforming the movie into a wonderfully magical story about kinship. Moreover, the film is widely considered one of the best animated movies of the 2020s .

Encanto wasn't a hit from the start, but the original songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda quickly went viral on platforms like TikTok and Instagram, turning Encanto into a cultural phenomenon. The kaleidoscopic animation style earned extra praise, and the message about love, sacrifice and family makes it a film suited for all ages. 102 minutes is barely enough time for audiences to bask in Encanto 's delightful charm, yet it's enough to fall in love with the Madrigal family.

A Colombian teenage girl has to face the frustration of being the only member of her family without magical powers.

10 Big Hero 6 Quickly Turned Baymax Into a Beloved Disney Sidekick

Big Hero 6 revolves around a young technological genius named Hiro Hamada and his adorable "healthcare-provider" robot. While still not close to the longest Disney film, its 102-minute runtime was enough to make audiences fall in love with Baymax. Many critics believed Big Hero 6's success was thanks to the lovable robot while also being an endearing superhero story about found families.

Big Hero 6 is a masterclass in worldbuilding, spawning a refreshing reality for sci-fi and historical fiction fans to sink their teeth into. The story is set in San Fransokyo, an alternate timeline version of San Francisco based in the Marvel dimension called Earth-14123, and includes numerous allusions to Japanese culture and customs. Big Hero 6 's popularity has led to a sprawling franchise with two spin-off TV shows.

A special bond develops between plus-sized inflatable robot Baymax and prodigy Hiro Hamada, who together team up with a group of friends to form a band of high-tech heroes.

9 Frozen II Is Only a Minute Longer Than Its Predecessor

Runtime: 103 minutes, 9 times frozen ii proved it was a perfect sequel.

Following up a smash hit like Frozen is always a tall order, but Frozen II managed to live up to the original in every way imaginable.

This Frozen sequel charted the continuing adventures of Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven, delving further into the history of Arendelle. The origins of Elsa's powers come to light as she navigates the Enchanted Forest and various spirits to understand her and Anna's role in the kingdom.

With stunning visuals, a beautiful story, and universal appeal, Frozen II is one of the longest kids' movies at 103 minutes. Disney Princess fans love Elsa's powerful actions and Anna's softness in this adorable sequel.

Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven leave Arendelle to travel to an ancient, autumn-bound forest of an enchanted land. They set out to find the origin of Elsa's powers in order to save their kingdom.

8 Who Framed Roger Rabbit Uses Its Runtime to Blend Animation and Live-Action

Runtime: 104 minutes.

Adapted from the novel Who Censored Roger Rabbit? by Gary K. Wolf, Who Framed Roger Rabbit combines live-action with animation masterfully. Set in an alternate reality of Hollywood, cartoon characters reside in their own township called Toontown and have distinct personal and professional lives. Things take a turn for the worse when leading toon, Roger Rabbit, is framed for the murder of Marvin Acme, the man who is having an affair with his wife.

While Who Framed Roger Rabbit is not as well known as other Disney movies, this half-animated, half-live-action project became a cult classic, and every rewatch unearths new details. With a lengthy 104-minute runtime, Who Framed Roger Rabbit is one of the longest films in Disney's animated canon.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988)

A toon-hating detective is a cartoon rabbit's only hope to prove his innocence when he is accused of murder.

7 Moana Is One of the Longest and Most Influential Disney Films

Runtime: 107 minutes.

Moana is arguably one of the most influential Disney movies of the 21st century. According to critics, the movie's sumptuous animation, engaging narrative, riveting musical score, and lovable characters improved on the tried-and-tested Disney formula. Even minor characters like Jemaine Clement's Tamatoa and Alan Tudyk's Hei Hei the Rooster are memorable.

Moana relies almost exclusively on its eponymous protagonist and her intrepid transoceanic voyage, but many comedic gags help lighten the story's slightly morbid atmosphere. With a 107-minute runtime, Moana is already among the longest Disney features. Thanks to its popularity, a sequel to Moana has already been confirmed for 2024 .

In Ancient Polynesia, when a terrible curse incurred by the Demigod Maui reaches Moana's island, she answers the Ocean's call to seek out the Demigod to set things right.

6 Raya and the Last Dragon Needed Enough Time for its Worldbuilding

10 things you didn't know about raya and the last dragon.

In addition to introducing the first Disney princess since Moana, the film was inspired by Southeastern Asian culture, providing a unique setting.

Raya and the Last Dragon stars a wide array of famous actors, including Awkwafina, Sandra Oh, Benedict Wong, Gemma Chan, and Kelly Marie Tran. Unlike most films in the Disney canon, this 2021 production is set in an Eastern-themed fictional world — nearly all its dragon characters are drawn according to Chinese tradition.

Raya and the Last Dragon received widespread acclaim for its visionary world-building and powerful female characters. Still, a few critics complained about the lack of Asian representation in the movie's cast list. Raya and the Last Dragon barely managed to surpass its budget, effectively making it a theatrical flop, although this outcome was influenced by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Raya and the Last Dragon

In a realm known as Kumandra, a re-imagined Earth inhabited by an ancient civilization, a warrior named Raya is determined to find the last dragon.

5 Zootopia Felt Shorter Thanks to the Mystery that Captivated Audiences

Zootopia is an exceptionally designed animated movie by any standard. Framed around Judy and Nick's unlikely alliance, this Disney film earned critical praise. Zootopia's themes of acceptance and discrimination made it the perfect film for young and adult audiences.

The titular pun on the term 'utopia' and its associated discrepancies wasn't lost on adult viewers while still allowing younger audiences to enjoy Zootopia 's polychromatic grandeur. Zootopia 's 108-minute runtime is relatively long for Disney, yet it still doesn't make it the longest Disney movie, and fans wouldn't have minded some more time with Judy and Nick.

In a city of anthropomorphic animals, a rookie bunny cop and a cynical con artist fox must work together to uncover a conspiracy.

4 Ralph Breaks the Internet Was Eleven Minutes Longer Than Its Predecessor

Runtime: 112 minutes.

Ralph Breaks the Internet picks up six years after Wreck-It Ralph , where the titular character creates a new path in Vanellope's favorite game, Sugar Rush. Unfortunately, Ralph's innovation causes the game to malfunction, which takes the protagonists on a memorable journey through the Internet to save their game. Cyberbullies, social media, pop-up ads, and internet gaming are just a few hurdles that Ralph and Vanellope face, but the biggest of all is the changing nature of their friendship.

Ralph Breaks the Internet is a unique journey full of pop culture references , with endearing characters that leave a mark on audiences. While some viewers criticized the film for its rampant product placement for other Disney franchises, it is difficult to deny just how fun Ralph Breaks the Internet really is. A 112-minute runtime makes the sequel feel somewhat bloated, especially when aimed at children.

Ralph Breaks the Internet

Six years after the events of "Wreck-It Ralph," Ralph and Vanellope, now friends, discover a wi-fi router in their arcade, leading them into a new adventure.

3 The Lion King Live Action Is Thirty Minutes Longer Than the Animated Classic

The lion king: 5 things the live-action remake did right (& 5 it ruined).

The live-action version of The Lion King had its redeemable qualities, but it also left some die-hard fans disappointed.

The live-action remake of the classic Disney story, The Lion King brought to life the emotional story of how young Simba witnesses the death of his father, Mufasa, at the hands of his own family. These characters of the Pride Lands of Africa are beloved Disney players, and seeing new renditions of them is exciting in more ways than one.

With stellar voice acting by the likes of Seth Rogen, Beyoncé, Donald Glover, and John Oliver, it adds new depth to the story of how the young lion prince steps into his mantle as king after overcoming massive trauma and loss. Every moment of the 112-minute runtime is full of spectacular visuals.

The Lion King (2019)

After the murder of his father, a young lion prince flees his kingdom only to learn the true meaning of responsibility and bravery.

2 Bedknobs and Broomsticks Was Edited Down Before Its Release

Runtime: 118 minutes.

Bedknobs and Broomsticks was shelved for over nine years before release, and the original runtime was over two hours before the film was edited to 118 minutes. Bedknobs and Broomsticks could be perfect for a Disney remake as it's a timeless story that perfectly blends animation and live action. Charlie, Carrie, and Paul are put under the care of Miss Eglantine Price during the Blitz, but little do they know that Miss Price is actually an aspiring witch helping end the war with magic.

When the witch's school shuts down, she and the kids embark on a perilous but exciting expedition to find the last spell for Miss Price to learn to finish her studies in Bedknobs and Broomsticks. Along the way, Charlie, Carrie, Paul, and Miss Price find true affection in each other, making this one of the most endearing found-family movies ever.

Bedknobs and Broomsticks (1971)

An apprentice witch, three kids and a cynical magician conman search for the missing component to a magic spell to be used in the defense of Britain in World War II.

1 Fantasia Remains the Longest Disney Movie

Runtime: 126 minutes.

At 126 minutes, Fantasia is by far the longest Disney movie. This feat is all the more stunning because nearly 60 films have been released since Fantasia first wowed fans. This movie is divided into 8 segments or episodes, each performed in sync with different works of classical music.

Fantasia revitalized Mickey Mouse's fading fame and cemented him as a classic and went on to earn approximately $80 million at the box office, over thirty times its production budget. Critics, both contemporary and current, have deemed it among the greatest animated films ever made. Even though the film is over two hours long, Fantasia is one of the best golden-age Disney films and a must-watch for any Disney fan.
