Casita Trailer Pricing Guide: All Models Included

Casita Travel Trailer

Are you thinking about buying a Casita trailer but not sure what they cost?

If so, you’re in the right place, because in this blog post we provide a complete cost breakdown of the entire Casita trailer lineup.

By providing the pricing for all five Casita models as well as what affects their pricing.

Plus, we also provide a brief review and walkthrough of each model.

So that you can better understand the differences between each model to know which one might be the best fit for you and your family.

How Much Does a Casita Trailer Cost?

Regardless of the model, all Casita trailers—including the Spirit, Independence, Heritage, Freedom, and Liberty—have the same starting price of either $30,996 or $32,694.

Which is impacted by the version of the trailer, as every Casita is available in either a standard or deluxe version.

Casita Spirit

Casita Spirit Travel Trailer

Quick Specs

  • Starting Price : $30,996 / $32,694
  • Length : 17 Feet
  • Dry Weight : 2,210 – 2,480 Pounds
  • Sleeping Capacity : 3 – 5 (Depending On Version)
  • Bathroom : 3-Piece Wet Bath (Deluxe Version Only)

The Casita Spirit, which is often referred to as the classic Casita , offers one of the most well-rounded family-friendly floorplans that Casita makes.

As the Spirit offers two separate dinette booths, that can be converted into sleeping berths, providing convertible sleeping space for up the three people.

Casita Spirit Floorplans

Casita Spirit Floorplans

This isn’t the only potential sleeping accommodation in the trailer though, because the Casita Spirit, like all Casita models, is available in both a standard and deluxe version.

And one of the biggest differences between these two versions is how the front of the trailer is laid out.

As the Spirit Deluxe offers a full three-piece wet bath with a small sink, shower, and toilet.

While the Spirit Standard offers front bunk beds, bringing the total sleeping capacity up to five.

Regardless of which version you choose though, the Casita Spirit makes a great choice for families looking for a small lightweight travel trailer that is both versatile as well as practical.

For more information on the Casita Spirit and to see a 3D tour of the interior, check out Casita’s website by clicking here .

Casita Independence

  • Sleeping Capacity : 2 – 4 (Depending On Version)

Like the Casita Spirit from above, the Casita Independence is offered in both a standard and deluxe version.

Which dictates whether the trailer has front bunk beds and sleeping for four, or a front three-piece wet bath and sleeping for two.

A difference though between the Spirit and Independence is that the Independence offers two north-to-south permanent twin beds in the rear as opposed to a convertible dinette booth.

Casita Independence Floorplans

Casita Independence Floorplans

But that’s not the only layout difference between these two Casita models.

As the Independence model, due in large part to its north-to-south twin bed design, offers no dining or eating space inside the trailer.

Which might be a deal breaker for some, as it can make eating inside the trailer kind of awkward.

Casita Independence Interior

Also, with the Casita Independence lacking any sort of table you might find yourself relying on the beds to provide counter space when needed.

As there are very few flat surfaces in the Independence to set things on, due to the lack of a dinette table.

However, with all that being said, if you’re looking for twin beds or a bed that’s easier to get in and out of, the Casita Independence might be the right choice for you.

As the Independence is the only Casita model that offers a permanent twin-bed layout .

Casita Heritage

Casita Heritage Travel Trailer

  • Sleeping Capacity : 4 – 6 (Depending On Version)

At first glance, it might appear that the Casita Spirit from above and the Casita Heritage share the same floor plan.

However, upon closer inspection, there is one key difference between these two very similar models.

And that’s the difference in sleeping capacity between the Spirit and the Heritage.

As the Heritage is able to offer one additional sleeping space in both the standard and deluxe versions compared to the Spirit.

Casita Heritage Floorplans

Casita Heritage Floorplans

Bringing the total sleeping capacity of the Casita Heritage to either four or six depending on whether you opt for the standard or deluxe version of the trailer.

Which is the highest sleeping capacity offered on a Casita travel trailer .

But just how does the Heritage model manage to squeak out another sleeping spot in a trailer that has the exact same dimensions and general layout as the Spirit?

The answer is that Casita Heritage offers bunk beds in place of the side dinette booth found on the Spirit.

Casita Heritage Interior

This means that not only does the Casita Heritage have two sets of bunk beds in the standard version but also that the trailer is able to offer a four-person sleeping capacity even if you opt for the deluxe version, which deletes the front bunk beds for a wet bath.

Because of this, the Casita Heritage makes a great choice for a family of four that needs a four-person sleeping capacity but doesn’t want to give up the convenience of having a built-in bathroom .

For more info on the Casita Heritage and to see a 3D tour of the interior, check out Casita’s website by clicking here .

Casita Freedom

While the Casita Freedom does offer a four-person sleeping capacity in the standard version, the deluxe version of the Freedom is where this model really shines.

As the Casita Freedom Deluxe makes the ultimate small lightweight couples trailer , thanks to the trailer’s rear dinette booth/double bed, full-featured mid-galley, two caption swivel chairs, and front full three-piece wet bath.

Casita Freedom Floorplans

Casita Freedom Floorplans

Making the Freedom Deluxe perfect for couples who like to travel with all the comforts of home.

Plus, because the two captain swivel chairs have a built-in table between them, it allows the seating area to be used as a makeshift dinette booth.

Allowing you to leave the rear dinette booth/double bed as a permanent bed, which is far more convenient while camping and traveling.

For more information on the Casita Freedom Deluxe and to see a 360-degree view of the interior, check out Casita’s website by clicking here .

Casita Liberty

The Casita Liberty offers the same front layout as every other Casita model with either bunk beds in the standard version or a wet bath in the deluxe version.

Where this model really stands out though is in its rear layout.

As the Liberty offers one of the most flexible and convertible rear layouts out of all the Casita models .

Allowing the space to be used as a four-person dinette booth/double bed with extra seating or as one large king-size bed that measures 82 inches long by 76 inches wide.

Casita Liberty Floorplans

Casita Liberty Floorplans

Regardless of its configuration though, the Liberty, like all Casita models, offers a well-equipped kitchenette, a good amount of storage, and lots of creature comforts.

For more information on the Casita Liberty and to see a 3D tour of the interior, check out Casita’s website by clicking here .

What Affects the Cost of a Casita Travel Trailer?

As mentioned above, one of the biggest factors that can impact the cost of a Casita trailer is its version .

As the deluxe version of the trailer regardless of which model you choose has a starting price that’s $1,698 more compared to the standard version.

For that extra $1,698 though, you get a three-piece wet bath with a combined shower, toilet, and bathroom vanity as well as a standard air conditioner.

However, the version of the camper isn’t the only thing that can impact the price of a Casita trailer.

Because, while all Casitas come well-equipped with numerous standard features, including marine-grade two-piece fiberglass construction, versatile sleeping accommodations, and a full-functioning galley, there are also many optional features that can add additional cost to the trailer .

So to give you a better idea of the true cost of a Casita trailer, we’ve compiled the below list that highlights all the different upgrades available for the Casita trailer and its corresponding price.

How Much Does a Used Casita Trailer Cost?

If you’re looking to save some money when buying a Casita trailer, one of the best ways to do this is to buy a used one.

As you can often save $10,000 or more when buying a used Casita compared to a new one.

As you can see below from actual listings of used Casita trailers for sale on rvtrader.com at the time of this writing.

Used Casta Trailer Listings (Least to Most Expensive)

  • 1998 Casita Spirit Deluxe 16 – $15,000
  • 2007 Casita Spirit Deluxe 17 – $16,995
  • 2000 Casita Freedom Deluxe 17 – $19,995
  • 2020 Casita Heritage Deluxe 17 – $23,000
  • 2012 Casita Spirit Deluxe 16 – $23,500

How Does the Casita Trailer Price Compare to Other Molded Fiberglass Campers?

The cost of a Casita trailer like all molded fiberglass campers can vary depending on its model, version, and options.

In general, though, the cost of a Casita trailer tends to be towards the middle when it comes to pricing for a molded fiberglass camper, costing more than a Scamp trailer but less than an Oliver trailer, as you can see below.

Are Casita Trailers Worth it?

Casita Trailer

Whether or not Casita trailers are worth it depends on your individual needs and circumstances.

As Casita trailers use an all-fiberglass non-stick frame construction, which makes the trailers much lighter compared to more traditional stick-frame RVs .

Because of this, they tend to be a popular choice for people who enjoy traveling and camping in small, lightweight trailers or who have a more limited tow vehicle, such as a small SUV or a 4-cylinder .

In addition, Casita trailers are often praised for their durability, longevity, high-quality construction, and easy towing .

However, they may not be the best choice for everyone.

As one potential drawback of the Casita is that they tend to be more expensive compared to other types of trailers .

Because of this, you need to weigh the added cost against the benefits that a Casita trailer provides.

Additionally, when it comes to travel trailers, Casitas tend to be on the smaller side, as they’re only 17 feet in length and just under 7 feet wide.

Because of this, they don’t have as much interior or storage space as larger trailers .

So it’s also important to figure out how much interior and storage space you need in a travel trailer.

If you’re looking for a small lightweight easy to tow camper though, that a variety of vehicles can tow, then the Casita trailer should definitely be on your shortlist .

How to Buy a Casita Trailer

Like other molded fiberglass campers, the buying process for a Casita trailer is a little different compared to the more traditional RV buying process.

Because while large RV manufacturers like Forest River, Thor, Coachmen, and Airstream sell their RVs through dealer networks, much like the auto industry, Casita uses a direct-to-consumer approach, by selling their trailers directly to the customer without a dealership middleman .

Which has both advantages and disadvantages.

Because while you don’t have to deal with pushy or unknowledgeable RV salespeople using this approach, it can also make viewing the trailer more challenging and the buying process more cumbersome.

To illustrate this point let’s take a look at the typical buying process for a new Casita trailer.

Step-By-Step Buying Process

  • Step 1 : Perform initial research on the Casita trailer by learning about the different models, pricing, specs, and available features on their website at www.casitatraveltrailers.com .
  • Step 2 : View a Casita trailer in person by either visiting their showroom at 5029 SE McKinney in Rice, Texas, or by using the Casita Discovery Progam, which connects you with local Casita owners in your area that are willing to answer questions and show you their personal Casita trailer.
  • Step 3 : Order the trailer by calling Casita at 1-800-442-9986 to speak with one of their sales reps that will walk you through the ordering and financing process if needed.
  • Step 4 : Recieve a pick-up time and date when the Casita will be ready for pickup.
  • Step 5 : On the delivery date return to the dealership in Rice Texas to pick up the trailer, which includes a full tour of the trailer, final paperwork completion, and payment via cashier’s check or wire. (Wire must be completed three days prior to pick up.)
  • Step 6 : Stay at a campground close to the dealership and camp for a day or two in the trailer to make sure there are no issues before traveling home with the camper. (Not required but a good idea.)

Final Thoughts

The cost of a Casita trailer can vary greatly depending on the version, features, age, and condition of the camper.

As basic used Casita trailers cost as little as $15,000, while loaded new models can cost upwards of $40,000 or more.

So it’s important to consider your budget and needs when shopping for a Casita trailer.

Because whether you’re looking for a simple and economical option or a fully loaded and luxurious model, there is a Casita trailer out there to fit your needs and budget.

You also get upholstered swivel captain chairs. The swivel chairs are next to a screen picture window, providing a nice little reading area for a comfortable retreat.

As with all Casita models , it comes in a Standard layout that sleeps four but has no bathroom, or the Deluxe model that sleeps two and has a spacious bath and shower.

The Casita Liberty is another step up in their line of travel trailers. This model has spacious floor plans that offer more versatility than the Spirit or Freedom above.

The Liberty has two dining areas that can be converted to a double bed, two small single beds or a spacious king-size bed.

Like all Casita travel trailers, it is an excellent model for couples. The standard model has no bathroom and can sleep four, while the Deluxe model has a bathroom and can sleep two.

Independence

The Independence is the last model in the Casita lineup. The Independence offers two permanent twin beds .

Casita Independence Deluxe

The windows are screened and operable, allowing for cross ventilation, lots of natural light, and a great scenic view of your surroundings.

Like all the other Casita travel trailers, it is available with or without a bathroom. Unlike the other models that come in 16 or 17 feet, the Independence is only available as a 17-footer.

Casita Travel Trailers: Are These Lightweight Campers Worth It?

Are you in need of a small travel trailer and like the look of the Casita camper?

For a new Casita travel trailer, expect prices to start around $24,000. Prices will rise depending on which make and floor plan you choose, along with whether or not you want the standard or deluxe version.

If you’re on a budget, used Casita travel trailers range from $8,000-$20,000 and are a possibility for people looking for a quality RV.

To break down all the different models Casita offers, I put together this guide that will detail the features and pricing so you can decide which travel trailer suits your needs best.

Casita Trailers have a growing fanbase among recreational vehicle enthusiasts, so stay right here to find out why!

History of Casita Camping Trailers

Casita camping trailer

In the 1970s, Boler Trailers emerged as a new entrant in the camping trailer industry. This Canadian company distinguished itself by specializing in molded fiberglass construction, a technique that helps reduce the overall weight of the recreational vehicle.

Since there were gas shortages during this time and fuel economy was an essential aspect of choosing a camper, Boler was an appealing choice.

In 1981, with the company’s growth, one of Boler’s original team members left to start his own business, naming it Casita Travel Trailers . He embarked on this venture to explore new innovations in camper design and to capitalize on the growing market demand for lightweight travel trailers.

At this same time, another fiberglass-molded camper line called Scamp came onto the market, but Casita has no association with them in any way.

Casita means “little house” in Spanish. With the same lightweight fiberglass construction and excellent fuel efficiency as the Boler campers, it filled the need of people searching for a small travel trailer.

The Casita was small, but owners appreciate that it provides all the features that make camping more comfortable. The balance of function and amenities in an easy-to-tow camper allowed the company to keep growing.

Casita Travel Trailer’s home is in Texas, and it remains a family-owned company. The Casita RV keeps evolving in materials and design to suit the demands of the current RVing community and now offers five models of travel trailers.

What Makes Casita Camping Trailers Different?

The reason Casita campers are so popular goes beyond their size and charming, unique look.

The two-part molded fiberglass shell of the Casita travel trailer is what sets this brand apart from the more traditional wood or aluminum-framed, more boxy trailers.

The rounded corners and nearly seamless shell design reduce the problem of water and air leaks, which are the bane of most RVs. In addition, solid foam insulation and fabric walls maintain interior temperatures and reduce noise.

Another benefit of the curved design is how aerodynamic the camper is, which increases fuel efficiency and reduces swaying during travel from the wind.

Since the Casita is so lightweight, it’s towable by many SUVs and sedans with a towing capacity of 3,500 pounds. This feature increases the camper’s overall value versus the need to own an expensive, gas-guzzling, heavy-duty truck to go on RV trips.

The interior features of the Casita are also noteworthy. The molded seating and cabinetry keep the look sleek and incredibly durable, giving the camper a more extended lifespan than a standard travel trailer brand.

Lastly, storage of the Casita is a breeze, which can eliminate charges for off-site parking when you’re not using the camper.

The smaller length and shorter height allow them to fit into many garages, or you can tuck them in your yard without taking up much space.

Casita Camping Trailer Models and Price

Here are the five Casita models available:

  • Independence

You can choose the standard or deluxe version for each model and select from optional features to customize your camper.

The 16-foot Casitas are no longer in production, and all current campers start with a 17-foot-long shell with an overall length of 19′ 4″ with the hitch.

The company also decided to discontinue the shorter 13-foot Casita Patriot, but you can still pick up a used model if you want a short travel trailer.

Next, I explain each model and what features and prices to expect.

1. Casita Spirit

The standard Casita Spirit can sleep a surprising 3-5 people by converting the seating areas into beds and offers bunks and storage at the front of the unit.

The deluxe version accommodates up to four guests and includes a wet bath and closet at the front of the camper. In addition, you can choose from two interior color schemes.

I like how the interior floor plan remains spacious, with the ability to turn the rear dinette into a permanent bed. This feature is very convenient for solo or a couple of RV trips as you can still utilize the side dinette for eating, games, or work.

The kitchen features a stove, refrigerator, and microwave with plenty of counter space for such a compact RV.

Casita Spirit (Video)

2. Casita Independence

The Casita Independence features two permanent twin beds (with under-bed storage) in the rear of the camper for more convenient sleeping arrangements each evening.

You can opt to remove the center table between the beds and form a single large bed.

The deluxe model offers the wet bath and storage upfront but reduces the guest occupancy to two.

I like the wrap-around overhead storage that provides ample room for camping supplies and personal belongings, which helps keep the interior neat and organized.

The kitchen design has the refrigerator on one side and the stove, sink, and microwave on the other for efficient use of the space for meal prep.

The interior of the Independence feels a bit tighter than other models, but the redeeming factor is the three large picture windows with screens you can open for ventilation and take in campsite views.

Casita Independence Deluxe (Video)

3. Casita Heritage

The Casita Heritage is one to look at if you want to enjoy family camping adventures.

I like how the design features convertible double beds in the rear that work as seating during the day and permanent side and front bunks. The under-seating/bunk storage space is impressive, along with the upper cabinetry, so you can pack supplies for your whole group.

If you only need sleeping for four, moving to the deluxe model with the wet bath makes this camper complete for both on and off-grid RV trips. The Deluxe also features a rooftop vent and air conditioner.

The kitchen appliances sit along one wall for easy meal prep and include the Casita standard mix of the stove, microwave, and sink.

Casita Heritage (Video)

4. Casita Freedom

The Casita Freedom features a spacious rear dinette or double twin bed that can convert to a king-size bed.

I like the main living space, with two swivel chairs on either side of a large table that opens up the area and avoids the need to squeeze in and out of the dinette booth arrangement.

The table and chairs make it the ideal camper design for a solo or couple, allowing room for both to eat, work, or hang out comfortably.

The kitchen is compact and sits just inside the entry door to the left but offers a two-burner stove, microwave, sink, and fridge.

Both the standard and deluxe models of Casita come equipped with a rooftop vent. However, the deluxe model enhances the camper with the addition of a wet bath and closet, whereas the standard model provides additional storage and bunk beds in that space.

Casita Freedom (Video)

5. Casita Liberty

The Casita Liberty features two seating areas that can remain as two single beds or convert into a double or king-size bed, depending on your needs.

I like the layout of the deluxe model that sleeps two. You can leave the double bed configuration permanently in place and still enjoy a seating area, kitchen, and wet bath, which means you can camp anywhere in comfort.

The kitchen is across from the entry door, with the fridge to the left. There is a three-burner stove and range, along with the sink and microwave.

If you require more storage space and sleeping quarters, the standard version removes the wet bath and adds a closet and bunks.

Both the deluxe and standard Liberty models have the longest stretch of overhead cabinetry that wraps around nearly 3/4 of the unit.

Casita Camping Trailer Standard vs. Deluxe Models

All Casita camping trailers have these dimensions:

Thank you for signing up, we'll be in contact soon.

Want to connect with a community of over 1,078 rv enthusiasts.

With an interior ceiling height of just over six feet, taller people may want to forgo choosing a Casita, especially for full-time RV use. The need to hunch when inside the camper may get annoying.

Casita Standard vs Deluxe Differences

Every Casita travel trailer layout includes either a bunk and storage area in the standard models or, in the deluxe version, a wet bath equipped with a sink, shower, and toilet combination, alongside a separate closet.

The standard Casita model has no black waste tank, but all offer large windows for airflow and light, and you can opt for an air conditioner. Deluxe models come with an air conditioner standard.

Storage is not lacking in these tiny travel trailers, but room for large or bulky gear may present an issue in most models.

Casita Camper Optional Features

If you’re wondering what extras you can add to your Casita camper, here is a list of most features:

  • Patio Awning
  • Electric Tongue Jack
  • Video Entertainment Package
  • Roller Shades
  • Andersen “No Sway” Weight Distribution Hitch
  • Trailer Cover
  • Folding Kitchen Shelf
  • Maintenance-Free AGM Deep Cycle Battery
  • 180- or 230-watt Solar Panel
  • High-Lift Axle
  • Water Filter
  • Casita Maintenance Kit
  • Aluminum Alloy Wheels
  • Surge Protector

Casita Camping Travel Trailer Pros and Cons

To complete this overview of the Casita trailer lines, let’s take a moment to go over the pros and cons of this brand.

Choosing an RV is not only a substantial investment but needs to fit in with your camping style, so look over this list before deciding if a Casita camper should be on your shopping list.

Casita Travel Camper Pros:

  • Cool aerodynamic and retro look
  • Lightweight and fuel-efficient
  • Easy to tow, park, and store
  • Offers most features and amenities for a comfortable camping trip
  • Models can sleep from 1-6 guests

The benefits of choosing a Casita are many, including the good mix of floor plans and how even a beginner can safely tow the camper .

The trailer chassis has an independent rubber torsion-bar suspension. This design feature isolates the trailer unit from the shell, so items inside don’t shift or vibrate as much during road travel and sustain damage.

The interior and exterior design is thoughtful and functional, without bothersome decor or colors that clash with your style.

Having a kitchen and a shower and toilet option in such a short travel trailer is another massive bonus for the brand.

Owners also appreciate the seamless molded shell made of marine-grade fiberglass that reduces maintenance for moisture leaks, scratches, and scuffs. The exterior will look good for decades with regular washes and waxing.

Casita Travel Camper Cons:

Here are the top cons from Casita owners to take into consideration:

  • Casita will not fully customize a camper and will stick to the basic floorplans
  • Rounded edges reduce storage inside cabinets
  • Interior height may be too low for taller people
  • Wet bath design combines the toilet, sink, and shower into one room
  • The camper isn’t suitable for large families

The biggest con of the Casita trailers is the size. While the camper can sleep up to six people, having everyone inside on a rainy day can be tight.

The rounded design can make hanging decor challenging, and it reduces headroom around the perimeter of the camper. Another negative is the carpet-like walls that take a while to get used to and can be difficult to clean.

The molded fiberglass seating and cabinetry are solid but aren’t easy to alter without damage if you want to remodel your camper.

Wet baths leave your entire bathroom wet after a shower, which can lead to humidity issues inside the camper when the windows and door are shut. In addition, wiping down the bathroom after each shower can become tiresome.

Should You Buy a Casita Trailer? Pros and Cons (Video)

Final Thoughts

The Casita brand creates very high-quality and efficient campers that are very suitable for full-time RVing for solos and couples and short-term trips for small families.

An investment in a new Casita camping trailer will cost between $22,000 on up to around $30,000, but the durability means you can enjoy the camper for years with little maintenance or fuss.

I hope you find this guide to Casita campers helpful and you take the time to check out this unique RV brand. Hopefully, you’ll find a floor plan that fits your needs perfectly!

On a nice evening, you and your spouse decide to take a nice leisurely stroll around the campground. Since you’re renting, you want to take a look at some of the other RVs. You want something that’s lightweight, and your spouse doesn’t want to sacrifice creature comforts or style.

Then you see it. A smaller travel trailer with rounded corners. It’s so different compared to all of the other RV’s around it, it might as well have spotlights and a sign that says “Best In Show.” Parked next to it is a small Ford Edge SUV.

You say to yourself, “That small SUV pulled this travel trailer? How the…”

For the rest of your walk, the two of you can’t stop talking about it. What is a Casita camper? Why haven’t we seen them at the RV shows? How much do Casita travel trailers cost and where can I get one?

History of Casita Travel Trailers

To truly understand Casita, you have to go back to 1968 when Ray Olecko introduced the Boler Travel Trailer. This was the fiberglass travel trailer that started the “egg on wheels” or “eggshell camper” concept. His 800-pound travel trailer was perfect for a family of four during the 1970’s gas shortage.

Olecko wanted to create a lightweight RV that would be easily towed by a four-cylinder vehicle. His genius was to create a fiberglass shelled travel trailer that acted as both the trailer’s frame and walls. His fellow Canadians loved his product, but American citizens weren’t too fond of it when he tried to expand into the U.S.

A Bolar representative approached the Eveland family to help expand into the American market. In 1981, Don Eveland opened Casita in Rice, Texas, with copies of the Bolar molds. To save it from financial collapse, John Lang bought the company in 1983 to reimagine it into the company it is today.

Eveland returned to Minnesota to help his family create Scamp. John continued to work with the Bolar molds to bring Casita back to life. Scamp trailers and Casita campers may have the same parent, but they grew to be direct competitors offering their own unique products to their customers.

The concepts behind today’s Casita trailers have held with Olecko’s, Eveland’s, and Lang’s goals. Updates with modern technology have kept them light enough that a four-cylinder vehicle with a towing capacity of 3,500 pounds can still tow them comfortably. A family of four can sleep in most models and they’re budget-friendly to the average North American.

Casita Trailer Models

When you explore the Casita Homepage , you’ll see a lot of choices. Many first-time buyers recommend the A-Z Owner’s Guide that gives you details about buying, taking delivery, and maintaining your Casita Trailer. It’s updated every year for accuracy.

If you’re just getting started on your research, we’ll give you a basic perspective of their RVs. Casita has five different floorplans. Four of them come in either 16 or 17-foot lengths. The Independence is the only one without a 16-foot length.

Casita Trailers Standard or Deluxe Features

Every model and length has a standard or deluxe version. The standard gives you extra storage space and a front sofa that converts to a bed. It also has a bunk bed that fits above the bottom bed.

The deluxe uses the front space for a wet bath. They add a 13-gallon black holding tank. Air conditioners are a general feature in the deluxe, but optional in the standard.

How Much Do Casita Travel Trailers Cost?

Once you choose which model you want, at this point, you can choose between the length (16 or 17 feet) and which version (standard or deluxe) you want. Here is a basic price structure for how much Casita trailers cost:

  • 16-foot Standard: $18,424
  • 16-foot Deluxe: $20,489
  • 17-foot Standard: $19,496
  • 17-foot Deluxe: $21,194

Keep in mind that these are the starting prices before you customize your camper with the many add-on options available. Casita travel trailers are not mass-produced. The company only builds a new coach when a customer orders one. Your total cost after add-ons, taxes, and various other costs will be higher.

Casita Trailer Standard Features

Casita trailers start with two marine-grade fiberglass shell pieces (bottom and top) fitted together attached to an all-steel chassis (they use the word “frame”). The insulation between the exterior and interior walls prevent condensation, heat transfer, and dampen sound.

The axles have rubber torsion suspension bars instead of leaf springs. This allows the trailer to sit lower, minimizes sway, and dampens road vibration. The overall aerodynamic design gives the coach a fuel-efficient quality. Many of these qualities are similar to an Airstream.

The main dinette folds down to a queen-size bed. The kitchen is complete with all of the appliances needed to prepare complete meals (there’s even space for an optional microwave).

Every Casita has full shore hookups. They have fresh and grey holding tanks. Water heaters are also standard. Deluxe models come complete with black holding tanks.

If you choose the deluxe model, the wet bath is nothing like a pop-up trailer. It has real walls and a door. There’s plenty of room to move around as you prepare yourself for the day.

Casita Travel Trailers Have 5 Floorplans

Each model of Casita has one floorplan. The versatility of each floorplan allows the people using it to have a camping experience that changes with them.

Casita Spirit interior

The Spirit is a family-friendly unit with two separate dinettes. The rear dinette sits four and folds down into a queen-size bed. The side dinette on the off-door side sits two and converts into a twin sleeper that can hold an upper bunk attachment.

Casita Spirit Floor Plans

Main Specs of the Casita Spirit

  • Dry Weight: 1,970- 2,480 pounds
  • Length: 16 or 17 feet
  • Fresh: 16 or 25 gallons (bigger on the 17-foot)
  • Grey: 13 or 32 gallons
  • Black: 13 gallons (deluxe only)

Independence

casita independence interior

This model has two permanent twin size beds in the back with under bed storage. The standard has the convertible sofa up front with bunk bed capabilities, but many couples prefer the deluxe convenience of their own bathroom. This is the only model that doesn’t have a 16-foot version.

casita heritage interior

How often have you seen a 16-foot travel trailer that can comfortably sleep six people? The standard Heritage, like the Spirit, has the rear and side dinette. With the folding sofa in front and the bunk attachments, you’ll have plenty of room for your large family. We recommend the white interior walls with this unit to further enhance the open feel effect.

The Freedom combined with the deluxe features is Casita’s most luxurious travel trailer for empty nesters. You’ll enjoy the two padded chairs that replace the side dinette. You can drink your morning coffee while you enjoy the scenery through the big picture window.

Those that enjoy a lot of sleeping room will enjoy this layout. In front of the fold-down dinette are two folding sofas that convert your queen into a king-size bed. You, your spouse, and your Husky shouldn’t have any problems finding enough space to sleep comfortably.

Casita’s Add-Ons are too numerous to list. Some add creature comforts. Others allow you to take your camper off-road or withstand late-season temperatures but the add-ons do affect the cost of a Casita trailer. Whatever add-ons you choose, the end result is an RV that is uniquely yours.

Since Casita is a direct competitor to Scamp, some question which one is better. Each manufacturer has its own pros and cons. As we mentioned above, they were born from the same molds, so it boils down to which small differences suite you better (just like do you prefer Coca-cola or Pepsi?).

Buying a Casita Trailer

If you’re interested in where you can buy a Casita camper, it starts with your home computer or mobile device. Casita’s primary marketing strategy is their customers. Word of mouth or seeing one while you’re traveling has been very effective. It’s so effective, if you were to order one today, you can expect to wait anywhere between six months to a year for delivery.

The buying process starts with a walkthrough. If you don’t live near their showroom in Rice, Texas, or know anyone that has one of their units, you can go to Casita’s website to fill out a request. They’ll find one of their customers near you and make arrangements so you can walk through their trailer.

The second step is to contact the sales department. One of their Adventure Guides will take you through the ordering process. You’ll choose which floorplan you want, length, version, and which add-ons you want. While you’re waiting, they’ll be your primary contact person and let you know when construction has begun.

When it’s ready, you’ll travel to Rice, Texas to spend your first night in your new RV. They’ll walk you through everything to make sure you know how to use everything correctly. The next morning, if everything is okay, you’ll hitch up, and head out. If you can’t make it, you can ask them to deliver it if you live in the lower 48 states.

Rent a Casita Before You Buy One

If you want more of a trial run with a Casita, peer-to-peer RV rental companies like Outdoorsy or RVshare give you the ability to try them out. Some Casita owners rent their travel trailers out when they’re not using them. When you meet up with the owners to pick up the trailer, they’ll show you how everything works.

This way, you’ll have a whole weekend or longer to experience what the Casita camping experience is really like. If that particular model doesn’t quite fit, go back to the website and try another. Outdoorsy also has a lot of information from customer reviews, camping tips, and other information to help you make the experience that much better.

Casita Trailer Rentals are hard to find so start your search as far in advance of you trip as possible.

We’ve been trying to find measurements for the wet bath and cannot find them anywhere. When we look on forums, people say stuff like, “I’m 5’11 and it works for me.” Or, “I’m 6’4 and I couldn’t do it.” If anyone knows the numbers, we would appreciate it!

Would casita make some change to a new trailer? I’am a long time camper and know what I want. These would not be major, but to my like and need. Of course I would pay a reasonable fee.

Very good article but very out of date already. Current prices are quite a bit higher than that. 17′ Deluxe is $30,895 and they currently are running a discount of $5,201 for a final price of $25,694. This is with NO options. With options you are around $29,000 plus tax and title. However, they are still the best deal available.

I’m looking for a used Casita and am having a hard time finding one. I’ve checked RV Trader and RVT? Do you know why it’s so hard to find them and why they’re so expensive?

Hi Brian, Casita owners are extremely loyal and will hold on to their trailers years longer than the average RVer (average is about 8 years). Since Casita makes each unit per order, their products retain their value much higher than the mass-produced counterparts. Therefore they cost a few bucks more and they are hard to find for sale. Thanks for reading the article and for the question! Mike
