Clarkson, hammond and may explain why they're leaving the grand tour.

We’re less than two weeks away from saying an emotional farewell to nearly 22 years of automotive TV hosted by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, as the final episode of The Grand Tour (or the final episode hosted by them , at least), One For The Road, is launching on 13 September.

Now, in preparation for the episode, the trio, as well as long-time producer Andy Wilman, have gone into a bit more detail on why they felt the time was right to bring the show to a close.

The Grand Tour: One For The Road

Earlier this year, Clarkson spoke to The Times , explaining that filming the show is “immensely physical… when you’re unfit and fat and old, which I am.” He specifically mentioned camping in the Sahara Desert during the production of recent episode Sand Job as a particularly brutal experience:  “If you’re Bear Grylls you go to a hotel – there aren’t any hotels in the Sahara.”

Clarkson has now doubled down on that ahead of One For The Road, calling the show’s production “a young man’s game.” He also explains that the show is running out of new places to visit and things to do:

“We’ve done everything you can realistically do with a car, and the world has shrunk and that’s the tragedy. Years ago, we drove from Iraq into eastern Turkey into Syria, Damascus and Israel. We did the Crimea to Ukraine. You couldn’t do any of that now.”

The Grand Tour: One For The Road

Hammond, meanwhile, reflected on the process of bringing this iteration of the show, and the trio’s working relationship, to an end: “The way in which [Top Gear and The Grand Tour] took off was kind of beyond all of us. The only thing we could control was how and when and where we landed it.

“We wanted to say ‘thank you’ to the audience. This is the biggest thing to happen in my life ever. It changed my life, it affected my daughters’ lives, my whole family, everything. And that’s down to the audience.”

The Grand Tour: One For The Road

May chimed in on why the time felt right to end things: “I’ve always said that if it ends tomorrow, which it nearly did at one point, that I should just be grateful that I had the opportunity… But it didn’t end, it kept going. In the end, we got to the point where we said, ‘No, we must stop while we’re still vaguely ahead. We mustn't keep going until we embarrass ourselves.’”

Andy Wilman, who has acted as producer alongside the trio ever since Top Gear’s 2002 reboot, also reflected on why they’ve decided to end things now, explaining that things were nearly brought to an end after the three studio-based series of The Grand Tour:

The Grand Tour: One For The Road

“We came to an agreement with Prime Video where we’d just do the specials as we knew that the big cinematic adventures were what our fans loved… We could keep some kind of quality control in place by doing fewer things.

“We’re lucky that we’ve been able to control our destiny. We are now calling it a day on our own terms, and not many shows get to do that. Most of the time, you want to carry on, and you get told, ‘We don’t want you anymore.’”

The Britpop icons announced a run of comeback shows on Tuesday  (August 27), dubbed Oasis Live ’25 . Set to take place next summer, the trek will see  Liam  and  Noel Gallagher perform on stadium stages together for the first time in 16 years.

Following strong rumours and reports of the group’s long-awaited return, Liam teased that an Oasis announcement was imminent during his ‘Definitely Maybe’ headline set at Reading Festival 2024 last Sunday (August 25).

The same video was soon posted on the band’s official social media channels, and on the Gallagher brothers’ individual accounts. Then came the news everyone was waiting for: Oasis are back. Here’s everything you need to know about how to get hold of tickets and what to expect from the tour.

Where are Oasis playing?

Concerts are currently scheduled for Manchester’s Heaton Park, London’s Wembley Stadium, Cardiff’s Principality Stadium, Dublin’s Croke Park, and Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium.

On August 29, extra dates were announced for Manchester, London and Edinburgh in response to “unprecedented demand”.

Tickets go on general sale at 9am BST/8am IST on Saturday August 31 – you’ll be able to buy yours here  (UK), and  here (Ireland).

How much will tickets cost?

Per Gigs And Tours , seated tickets will start at £65 and go up to £185 (face value) plus fees. Standing tickets are priced at £135 (face value) plus fees. The Manchester shows will only offer standing.

There are also Premium Standing and Premium Seat packages available across the tour, as well as various hospitality, fan and merchandise options.

Tickets for the Dublin dates are expected to start at €86.50, according to music promoters MCD. Check out the UK list below.

How many tickets can I buy?

Ticketmaster has outlined its strict rules for purchasing tickets – confirming that customers can only order four tickets per household and card.

“Please adhere to published ticket limits. Persons who exceed the ticket limit may have any or all of their orders and tickets cancelled without notice by Ticketmaster at its discretion,” a statement reads.

“This includes orders associated with the same name, e-mail address, billing address, credit card number or other information.”

When is the pre-sale?

On August 27, fans were given a window to sign up for a ballot to access a pre-sale . The registration period was later extended following some delays caused by an “unprecedented volume of entries” .

Those who were successful in the ballot have already been notified and have been sent a unique code to access the pre-sale between 7pm BST and 10pm BST on Friday August 30.

“Success in the ballot will not guarantee tickets,” a statement read. “Tickets will be allocated on a first come first served basis.”

Those who registered for the pre-sale ballot needed to answer a series of questions in an effort to keep it “fair and fan-focused”.

Customers were required to disclose how many Oasis shows they’ve been to (according to the form, this did “not have any bearing on your ballot application”) and were asked: “ Who was the drummer in the initial Oasis line-up? ” (Your answer for this question must be correct to qualify for the ballot).

Will they be on re-sale?

Oasis have launched an official partnership with ticket resale platform Twickets for their Oasis Live ’25 gigs ( visit here to see what’s on offer). A re-sale option will be available via Ticketmaster as well.

“Ticket resale is permitted at no more than the price you paid (face value + booking fees),” a statement reads.

“Please only use the official resale partners www.twickets.live and Ticketmaster. Selling tickets through unauthorised resale platforms will breach these T&Cs and those tickets may be cancelled.”

Don't look back in anger if you miss out on tickets this weekend. We've got you covered. https://t.co/A7KXxQzjK1 — Twickets (@Twickets) August 29, 2024

Twickets founder Richard Davies told IQ Magazine  that he expected a “huge demand” for the upcoming tour but, as the dates are a year away, some fans may be unable to attend once they come around.

“We often see tickets resold due to summer holidays being booked, or if groups of friends all try and get tickets, then some of those friends may want to sell and buy for dates their friends are attending,” Davies explained.

“Our platform offers a way for fans to sell their tickets to other genuine fans, and avoids people having to use sites that allow inflated prices, which the artists and events companies don’t benefit from.”

Will there be further world tour dates announced?

The current Oasis Live ’25 dates are billed as European-exclusive shows for 2025. However, three additional gigs have already been announced for Manchester, London and Edinburgh due to “unprecedented demand”. Many fans hope and believe that more UK and Ireland dates will be released.

The band have also stated that p lans are “underway” to announce more world tour dates outside of Europe for 2025.

It was previously reported that the reunited  Oasis could play a record-breaking 10 nights at Wembley Stadium  – which would surpass  Taylor Swift ‘s recent eight-night run at the venue on her ‘Eras Tour’ . At the time of writing, the Gallaghers are scheduled to perform in the capital across five nights next year.

Will the band be playing Glastonbury or any festivals in 2025?

Unfortunately not. “Despite media speculation, Oasis will not be playing Glastonbury 2025 or any other festivals next year,” a statement from the band on August 28 read .

The update came in response to whispers of a possible return to Worthy Farm next summer. Oasis first headlined Glasto in 1995 – just one year after their debut appearance at the festival.

They returned to top the Pyramid Stage bill in 2004, but the performance received lacklustre reviews from fans and critics alike.

Liam and Noel Gallagher of Oasis

In a press conference from 2008, Noel commented on Oasis’ history at Glastonbury: “We said the last time we [did] Glastonbury, we’ve never really pulled it off at Glastonbury… I don’t think.”

Both Liam and Noel have since performed at Glastonbury as solo artists, with the former’s previous band Beady Eye also having featured on the line-up. Noel last appeared with the High Flying Birds in 2022 , and   he attended this year’s edition of the festival .

Who will be in the line-up of Oasis’ band?

It is expected that co-founding Oasis member Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs will be hitting the road in 2025 . A source told The Sun : “Bonehead is confirmed. [Liam and Noel] both wanted him in the fold and he was one of the drivers of the reunion.

“[…] The Oasis family has really come back together. Bonehead is ecstatic.”

Bonehead, who is a regular fixture in Liam’s solo backing band, was asked last year whether he would be up for taking part in an Oasis reunion . “I’m ready, got me dancing shoes,” he responded.

Earlier reports claimed that “no other original Oasis member is expected to join the reunion” , and that “the members of Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds will step in”. Meanwhile, NME has rounded up all the players who could be drafted in for Oasis Live ’25 – including Paul ‘Guigsy’ McGuigan, Alan White, Gem Archer and Sharrock.

Who will be supporting Oasis on tour?

No opening acts have been announced yet, but fans have some theories ; Kasabian , Blossoms , Fontaines D.C. and The Lottery Winners are among the names being mentioned.

LCD Soundsystem have been touted as well, after they appeared on a fake tour poster. In June, Noel was spotted side-stage during James Murphy and co’s Glastonbury performance . Could Kneecap be in with a shout? NG saw the Irish rap trio’s set at Worthy Farm too , and said he “couldn’t believe how enjoyable it was”.

What will the band play in their setlist?

Fans have been revisiting the Oasis’ final 2009 setlist in anticipation of what they might play next year, but such details are still up in the air. In the meantime, check out NME ’s dream setlist for the forthcoming massive gigs here .

Frequently Asked Questions

If your question isn’t answered here, don’t hesitate to contact us .

For our Bath & Stonehenge tours, and our Oxford, Stratford and the Cotswolds tour, we have 2 departure points to choose from, either near the London Eye, or by the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, Victoria.

We really recommend using Google maps to plan your route to either of our departure points. Just enter your start location into the following templates and it will give you multiple options of how to get somewhere using public transport.

London Eye departure point directions

Victoria departure point directions

If you are still unsure, just drop us an email and we'll help you decide.

If you have not yet booked your accommodation, and so don't know yet which spot will be best for you, don't worry - you can always change your chosen departure point at any time. All you need to do is let us know before the tour - either by email or phone, so that we can make the change, and so we know where to expect you.

London is a huge city, with such unpredictable and dynamic traffic conditions, that offering hotel pickups would take many hours off the time we have for the tour.  We only have 2 departure points, both very centrally located and very simple to get to, which makes it easier for everyone and means that we don’t waste any precious tour time doing multiple pickups around London. Our route out of London from the departure points takes us past some wonderful sights, which your guide will tell you all about.

Tours to Kent and Bruges only depart from the London Eye departure point as they leave London in a south easterly direction.

Never more than 16 people. This means we can guarantee small groups, a friendly atmosphere and a highly personable tour experience. However, it does also mean that space is limited - so book early to avoid disappointment.

Yes. Once you have booked your seat(s), you will be sent an automatic confirmation, and a receipt.

For a number of reasons. Firstly we tailor each and every tour to you, so we like to know a bit more about the age ranges we have on each tour so we can make your tour as appropriate to you as possible. Each and every tour is different and all of our guides adapt the tour to their audience, as best they can. Knowing age ranges in advance helps us to plan. We also need to know whether we will be carrying any children under 12 - as it is a requirement that we provide them with a booster seat if so, and to make sure we don't have any children under 3 on our list as we can't take children younger than 3 years old.

We will always do our best to accommodate changes, but we can’t guarantee that we will be able to. Contact us as soon as you can with your requirements and we will do our best to help.

Your guide will plan the route back into London based on where everyone wants to go and will do their best to get you as close to your destination as possible. Depending on traffic conditions and timings, we typically offer a number of different drop offs around central London. Your guide will advise on the day and will make absolutely certain you know exactly how to get to where you are going if we are not able to drop you at your door. Ultimately, you will always be able to return to the area where your tour started if you would like.

Yes. We can put together a tour for your requirements. Please get in touch with us with your requirements and we can advise on our availability and prices. Please see our “Groups” page HERE

On our main Stonehenge & Bath tour, we also include a stop at a “secret place”. This gives your guide the opportunity to take you somewhere that they love and that you will love too, but that you may have never heard of. Where we visit varies from tour to tour and from guide to guide, and we can’t reveal any of these locations, so you’ll have to join us to find out for yourself.

It may be possible to accommodate a folding wheelchair/stroller/some luggage, but we have limited storage space, so please get in touch with your requirements before booking so that we can advise accordingly.

English weather can be temperamental, and therefore it is a good idea to bring some warm clothes with you (essential in the winter months). London is usually warmer than the places we visit outside of London, and from our experience, you will be much more comfortable if you’re not battling the elements! Layers are a good way to adapt with the often changing weather conditions. Comfortable shoes are a good idea too, as we do some walking on all of our tours. England is famous for its rain, but it typically rains much less than you probably imagine! However, it would still be a good idea to bring an umbrella and/or waterproofs with you, just in case.

Bring a camera, and some cash for entrance fees, coffee, lunch, souvenirs etc (most places take card, but for some small purchases, you may need to pay cash). If you are planning to join our tour to Bruges, don’t forget your passport, and visa if your nationality requires it.

Send us an email, or give us a call. We are here to help!

BBC Breakfast presenter issues urgent warning to Oasis fans over reunion tickets

BBC Breakfast presenter Ben Boulos told viewers that there is "no guarantee" they will be able to get tickets for the Oasis reunion tour, which was announced earlier this week

Oasis enthusiasts have been given an urgent deadline to secure tickets for the eagerly awaited reunion tour.

Noel and Liam Gallagher announced earlier this week that they will be setting aside their differences to perform a series of concerts in the UK and Ireland. With fans eager to get their hands on tickets, BBC Breakfast aired a segment advising them on how to do so.

However, business correspondent Ben Boulos cautioned fans that it won't be a straightforward process. He clarified: "The general sale starts tomorrow morning at 9am (August 31) and an hour earlier in Ireland."

"So set a reminder now! " Ben encouraged, adding: "But there will be a pre-sale process with access via a ballot."

Ben stated: "Now applications to enter that closed on Wednesday night, although high demand resulted in a delay in some fans receiving confirmation of their entry via an email with a link to click on to verify that they want to join the ballot," reports the Express .

"Those emails are still being sent out this morning, and you will need to click the link to confirm your entry by 10am today."

BBC

Ben continued to inform eager buyers: "People drawn in the ballot will be sent details of the pre-sale by 5pm today, although it's not yet clear when that starts or how many tickets are available. It will be a first come, first served basis. So even then there's no guarantee of getting a ticket!"

Ben chatted with two die-hard Oasis fans on air, who have attended a whopping 50 gigs between them, and he humorously conveyed through an exchange with hosts Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty that he had endured enough of their playful banter.

With a firm grip on his script, Ben feigned reading aloud: "It says here, 'Oasis pun-filled chat with Charlie and Naga', but I think we've had quite enough of that this week already, don't you?" Naga couldn't help but chuckle and cleverly quip in response: "Definitely maybe."

BBC

Charlie followed with the teasing question: "Had you actually rehearsed that? " Despite the jibe, Naga was quick to contend: "I'm just very quick witted!"

Charlie acknowledged, "It's not a simple process," when talking about the challenge fans face obtaining those sought-after reunion tickets while Ben highlighted that there is an "anxious wait" as legions of followers prepare to vie for their spot at the megaband's 2025 tour.
