Since March 2020, the road to the Big Almaty Lake has been closed to private vehicles for an indefinite period. At the moment, tourists can get to the Big Almaty Lake only on foot. But we are able to take our tourists directly to the Lake by car.

PRIVATE TOURS

• Customer can change the details or cancel the booking no later than 72 hours before the start of the tour with the possibility of a 70-90% refund of the tour cost. After this time, no refunds will be made.

FIXED-DATE GROUP TOURS

• Customer can change the details or cancel the booking no later than (24 hours - for day tours; 72 hours - for multi-day tours) before the start of the tour with a full refund of the tour cost. After this time, no refunds will be made.
• A minimum number of tourists and suitable weather are required. If these criteria are not met, the tour will be canceled no later than 48 hours before the start and you will be offered a different date/tour or a full refund.

Any tour/booking can be canceled in case of force majeure with a full refund.

What people love about Almaty Tours

The tour was very good, mostly because of the guides ( two of them at different points in time) who were knowledgeable and pleasant. The itinerary was also interesting. It was my first trip with Tourradar but it won't be the last, in fact, I have just booked a trip to Vietnam.

Excellent tour with a wonderful guide and great group. The pace was fast but very enjoyable and we saw some beautiful scenery. Highly recommended

With a guided tour, you can not control the weather or your travelling companions. I was lucky with both, so that helped! That aside, on my tour through the 5 Stans there were so many things that could have gone wrong. There were the 3 weeks in hotels, the three internal flights and the guides for each leg of the journey. It has to be said that all of this was well managed by Steppe Travels. The communication was great, the hotels were better than expected and all the guides were excellent. There were some long days of travelling, but the itinerary was well thought through and everything worked well. Overall, it was a great trip and Steppe Travel met all my requirements. I recommend them.

Beijing-Paris Classic Car Rally: Seventy Vintage Cars Arrive in Almaty

ASTANA — Seventy classic vintage cars arrived in Kazakhstan on June 2 as part of the legendary Beijing-Paris Classic Car Rally, reported Tengri Auto.

On May 18, the brave riders left Beijing, crossed the vast expanses through Urumqi and reached Almaty.

Their route passes through Kyzylorda and Aktau, where they will take a ferry to Baku. Then, on June 23, they plan to reach Europe and their final destination, Paris.

According to Wikipedia, the Beijing-Paris is an automobile race, initially held in 1907, between Peking (now Beijing), then Qing China (now the People’s Republic of China) and Paris, France (then French Third Republic), a distance of 14,994 kilometers.

The idea for the race came from a challenge published in the Paris newspaper Le Matin on Jan. 31, 1907, reading: “What needs to be proved today is that as long as a man has a car, he can do anything and go anywhere. Is there anyone who will undertake to travel this summer from Paris to Peking by automobile?”
