Top 5 airlines flying to liverpool.

Fine. Though no food or entertainment so the survey needs to be updated with those options.

Backpack should NOT allowed put in the flight bin , only put it under the seat. I can't find space put my carry on luggage!!! and I pay for it ! that was very bad experience

Fantastic. Smooth boarding with an infant. Never experienced it with any other carriers.

This was a flight operated by Lufthansa. See me prior comments, which were meant for this experience. The CSA, Ashley, should be reprimanded if not fired for incompetence, being rude, and very, very slow. She was whispering to other CSAs, blaming my flight change on others, unable to give me a seat assignment, telling me could not help without offering any advice (I travel 200,000 miles a year and am a consultant to the airlines, so I know how this gets done PRETTY DAMN WELL). Then, she gave me literally the worst seat on the airline (yes, there were other seats open) - the one right next to the bathroom that was so bad the other PAX next to me left to move to another seat. My seat kept getting rammed (3x) by the crew with their carts (no turbulence to speak of), other passengers grabbing the seat to get in or out of the bathroom, and listening to the bathroom flush all night.

This was a Lufthansa flight, not United. The CSA at the counter, Ashley, was not only incompetent, but quite rude. Me and two other PAX waited over 7 minutes standing in front of her and another CSA and they ignored us. We joked that we must have accidently taken invisibility pills. She could have at least said "I'll be with you in a moment, I'm currently....". I could go on about how rude she and the other CSAs were (whispering, not communicating with me, blaming the situation on others, etc.). She would not work for me. Then, she gave me literally the worst seat on the plane. the worst. My seat kept getting bumped (rammed twice by the crew with their carts and about every 5 minutes by someone using the bathroom), listening to the bathroom all night, crowded seat, etc.

My seat was broken. WiFi didn’t work. Gate crew at HOU were rude and condescending. Treated all the passengers badly. Bad experience, United.

First flight of the day… MINIMUM FUEL! 15 minute landing delay at HOU due to fog turned into a 2+ hour delay! Rather than circle, they had to divert to another city to refuel! Sat on tarmac at Austin to refuel. We ALL missed our connections! The crew, including pilots, were clueless. Crew was really a mess. At HOU, Untied employees were exceedingly rude to all. It was pitiful.

Food wasn’t very good, old business seating configuration on an old A340

An hour and a half late is UNACCEPTABLE. The negative impact to our family is unconscionable. And for the price we were forced to pay...

Standard flight experience, but there is only power at the seat to row 20 on the aircraft, on my initial check in it did not say that was the case

Flyplay is the only way I travel to Europe. Had a 15 hr layover in Iceland. Normally this would suck, but I regret a car and saw the black sand beaches, several waterfalls and sky lagoon. And finished with lamb at cafe Loki.

did not get the seats we had specially paid for

This is a no frills airline. You cant expect much for the price. Low cost flight, clean, nice staff. That's all I need for the price. If you want more, book with another airline and pay more. For Europe trips, PLAY is the ONLY airline I use

Misleading instructions for check in. Although I did virtual check in and was instructed to head to security, once I was at security, they told me to go back to Play ticket counter and get paper tickets. Also, beware that Play doesn’t participate in TSA PreCheck. I didn’t know that, despite entering PreCheck info when I purchased the tickets. I wasted time in the TSA PreCheck line as well. So we had two setbacks at check in.

It's a budget airline, so forewarned is forearmed. Yes, you pay for everything like carry-on, checked baggage, seat selection, but that's becoming the case with major airlines. Bringing your own snacks and entertainment on board is highly recommended. It's no frills, but the crew, the plane and the flight itself was great. If you want pampering go for a larger airline. If you just want to get from A to B in comfort and safety, Play is a great choice.

It is a low cost airline. Staff are courteous. There is no entertainment. Food is purchased.

Upon boarding, the people at the gate were extremely rude, there were no outlets on a 6 hour international flight, there was no entertainment, all food and drink was purchase only (even snacks), and my seat reclining function was fully broken. The only redeeming quality was the flight attendants were extremely nice. This was by far the worst flight I have ever been on in my entire life

I don’t know how international flights can’t have media screens to keep people entertained for the long flight. Ugh.

Typical experience for budget airline. Boarding from KEF required bus transit from the gate to plane, so if you had "priority boarding" it was useless as it was simply a free-for-all when getting off the bus. But still no issues with getting our luggage into overhead bin so not really a problem.

Was very apprehensive about flying Play, but the flight was fine. Nothing special, nothing horrible. Fair price to get from New York to Iceland.

I fly to the USA every 6wks on Ave and 99% of the time I fly Aer Lingus. If I fly BA I’m always disappointed. My only criticism is the food. I’m vegan and over the last year it’s got slightly better these last couple of flights but on the whole it’s not good! Salad and fruit salad for breakfast and that’s also the starter and desert for the lunch/dinner and the main is usually rice with fried veg 😳the pasta is pretty good though. That’s been the last 2 meals…. Everything else is fantastic.

The flight was half full and I presume that the next few days are even less busy not sure why they are still charging a premium to change a flight.

Are Longus was fine. I booked thru Kayak and was unable to get my business class seat early. Sat next to galley. Crew forgot to wake me for breakfast.

I loved how they arrange boarding (starting with people seated in back and moving to the front). Flight crew was very polite and welcoming. Seating was ok, I felt like there was enough leg space however it is noticeable when the passenger in front of you sets their seat back.

Short flight so not much to rate. Surprised I had to pay for a soda.

Nice to be on a flight that wasn't fully booked so there were only two of us in the three seat row.

The only problem was there are games on the entertaiment system. The guy behind me played poker the entire time and poking the back of my seat. I hope they remove these.

Very good need to offer better choice of food for business

Great travel. Wonderful experience. Hope to do it again in the near future. God willing

Aer Lingus doesn't have plug ins for devices at each seat. They also did not give me a dairy free meal as requested and confirmed by staff. It was as if I had not requested anything. Otherwise, they were great!

Overall, the flight was comfortable without any serious issues. Transit through Frankfurt airport was a little confusing, but not too difficult if you follow the signs

There was a screaming child behind our seats. This prevented us from getting any sleep during the night.

There was a screaming child just behind our seats. This prevented us from getting any sleep during the night!!

Staff disappeared after dinner service until breakfast, no help with beds, no help running to our gate to catch connection cause flight was late, our luggage didn’t make it, took over 24 hours to get luggage to hotel, no compensation!!

Everything was good except food. I believe there is room for improvement

Houston to Porto flight delayed landing made us miss our connection. Tried to get on standby for the next flight and even though the lady knew we wouldn’t be able to get on it and she sent us down there. We sat there three hours and then we’re told there’s no way you’re getting on this flight. So we had to go to customer service and ended up having to spend the night in Frankfurt and missed a whole day of our vacation in Porto

my flight was at 3:45 after that they delayed to 4:40 I have transit from Chicago to Frankfurt and Frankfurt to vina airport from vina to Erbil buy the Time I come to Frankfort my other flight left me I have to stay at airport all day with my 5 kids ask for help no one help me I spent at airport almost $450 just for food was horrible flight ever I call and ask for hotel from united customer service they been telling me we can’t provide any hotel I need some refund or fixed my flight when I return to America need some one respond my email

My experience would have been greatly improved by arriving on time to connect to my Porto flight. The staff that dealt with the aftermath of the late arrival evidently booked my group into a hotel in Frankfurt. This reduced my time in Porto Portugal a day and half. I do want to commend Jorge Klein for his hard work. He spent a great deal.of time trying to rebook the flight and he eventually did rebook for the next day and did provide accommodations for me overnight. This was a big issue for me and the group I traveled. The rest of the trip was good.

Not your fault…..didn’t get my drink until just before landing….bumpy flight.

Lufthansa flights were great. United flight from houston to Frankfurt had very small seats with almost no space

Wonderful service and very comfy in the bulkhead in Economy Plus! Delicious food.

The BA team at Sky Harbor is deplorable, full of unnecessary attitude and poor communication. It seems like every member of the team was looking at another to solve the problem, instead of taking agency to do so themselves. I saw no less than 6 altercations with the same gate agent where he threatened to revoke the passengers boarding pass for asking a wildly reasonable question, something as simple as where the cue to board was. I’ve complained to BA before but it seems this isn’t an issue for them, which is very disappointing

Boarding poor in London,ok in Chicago. Don’t like Heatrow/terminal5

It was very good. We got a late start by about an hour and a half. However I worked rather have that than crash. It was purely mechanical. They had our tickets ready when we came off the plane in London for the next leg. The only mishap was when we got to Lisbon my husbands luggage made or bit mine didn't. All was not lost because I did finally get it 2 days later. I was really pleased that they c made the effort.

Liked that my American Airlines status seamlessly transferred to BA so luggage check was free. Flights were on time, boarding quick. Wish they didn’t assign connecting gate so late at Heathrow.

The entire process was flawless and as expected flying first class. The only thing that I have a complaint on...when first boarding, the plane was EXTREMELY cold; then when we were trying to sleep, it was way too hot - just better regulating (especially trying to sleep) would have made it perfect.

- OK plane. Basic accommodations. OK food. The digital window shade wasn't working.

- OK plane. Basic accommodations. OK food. The digital window shade wasn't working. - Expect to be woken up more than an hour before landing when they start dinging the bell and making announcements and turning on all cabin lights to serve a snack. I would prefer they remain quiet and only serve people who want to wake up.

Better food and more space in the seats. Also when doing the web check in both times I was going in to your site the minute you open it and there is not really many seats to choose only to buy!!!

It was ok, not as good as it used to be. The Heathrow connection was a disaster - complete anarchy, unknowledgable and skimpy assistance and signage. Gate crew at next flight was great, held the flight while my wife struggled through security.

Nicki Minaj has praised her fans for being a “class act” and understanding that her gig in Manchester had to be rescheduled after her arrest in the Netherlands.

The rapper and singer, 41, said she spent around six hours in custody at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport on Saturday before being able to fly to the UK for her gig at Co-op Live arena.

Fans were let into the venue at around 7pm on Saturday for her show, before promoter Live Nation announced at around 9.40pm that it was being postponed.

Nicki Minaj

Dutch police said a woman aged 41 was arrested on Saturday after allegedly trying to take what it described as “soft drugs” from Schiphol Airport to another country.

An update from the force at around 9pm said it had released the “suspect and she can now move on” after paying a fine.

Minaj wrote on X: “Manchester I appreciate you. Class act. Give me until (tomorrow) for the update on our new date (please).

“It will be sometime in June or July like I mentioned last night.”

She also promised an “added surprise bonus” for fans and said she was “looking forward” to returning to Manchester for an already scheduled second night at Co-op Live on Thursday.

Minaj followed by saying that Birmingham’s Resorts World Arena date on Sunday would be a “magical beautiful happy fun unforgettable night”.

She had invited her fans, known as Barbz, to her hotel in the centre of Manchester and spoke to the crowds outside including Alvin Christie, from Liverpool , who defended her.

The 29-year-old told the PA news agency that fans want her to be “in a good place” and “were just more concerned that she was OK”, placing the blame on the venue, which he was waiting outside from 9am to attend the concert.

He said: “I would say it was very poorly managed. When we arrived into the event, they were actively telling fans that she had arrived and that everyone was going to dance tonight.

“For a lot of people that were asking those questions, that’s obviously (keeping) people’s hopes up.

“I understand that maybe they wanted to get people into the arena for health and safety risks to stop people being outside. But I think, most importantly, they maybe could have advised people as soon as they’ve known that the show was postponed and we should be turned away when we’re outside the arena, rather than holding loads of people in the arena.”

Eileen Allardyce, 32, a hotel manager from Edinburgh, spent around £2,500 on tickets, travel and hotel costs and says she will not be able to make a rescheduled date.

She said that since Co-op Live announced its first delay to its live events in April, when comedian Peter Kay was due to perform, she had been “on eggshells” with her friends who also had tickets for Minaj.

“Obviously, it’s not Co-op’s fault what happened in Amsterdam, and it’s not Nicki’s fault either, like, obviously, no blame for her at all,” she said.

“But as I say, I just feel like the way they (the venue) handled it was just absolutely ridiculous. They have no clue, absolutely no clue. I don’t think they were prepared for anything, to be honest.”

She and Mr Christie claimed there were no toilets outside the arena for fans to use while queuing, and said more facilities are needed at the venue.

Mr Christie contrasted his experience at Co-op Live with Manchester’s AO Arena, where he said there are “general public facilities and coffee shops”.

Minaj wrote on X that she had arrived at her hotel in Manchester early on Sunday after spending “5-6 hours” in a cell and a delay to her flight from Amsterdam.

She said the venue was “willing to go past 11pm”, and she pointed the finger at unidentified figures who had “succeeded at their plan to not let me get on that stage tonight”.

A statement from Live Nation said on Saturday: “Despite Nicki’s best efforts to explore every possible avenue to make tonight’s show happen, the events of today have made it impossible.

“We are deeply disappointed by the inconvenience this has caused.”

Trinidad-born Minaj, who grew up in the US and is known for the songs Starships, Super Bass and Anaconda, livestreamed being arrested and claimed that drugs were found in her luggage which did not belong to her.

This is the latest postponed gig at Co-op Live, which has been plagued by issues since trying to open in April, and having to reschedule its first official gig several times.

US rapper A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie moved his performance to the AO Arena over the delays, and Co-op Live began live music shows on May 14 when British rock band Elbow took to the stage.

Co-op Live, Minaj and Live Nation have all been contacted for additional comment.

Early signs of rising COVID in California as new FLiRT subvariants dominate

  • Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later. More content below

California may be headed to an earlier-than-normal start to the summer COVID-19 season, with coronavirus concentrations in sewage rising in some areas along with the statewide positive-test rate.

The trend comes as the latest family of coronavirus subvariants, collectively nicknamed FLiRT, have made significant gains nationally.

The FLiRT subvariants — officially known as KP.2, KP.3 and KP.1.1 — have overtaken the dominant winter strain, JN.1. For the two-week period that ended Saturday, they were estimated to account for a combined 50.4% of the nation's coronavirus infections, up from 20% a month earlier.

Instead of California seeing reduced circulation of COVID-19, as occurred earlier this spring, state health officials said that they estimate the spread is now either stable or slowly increasing.

"COVID-19 concentrations in wastewater have suggested increases in several regions across California since early May. Test positivity for COVID-19 has been slowly increasing since May," the state Department of Public Health said in a statement to The Times on Friday.

Read more: There's a new highly transmissible COVID-19 variant. Could FLiRT lead to a summer uptick?

Over the seven-day period that ended Monday, about 3.8% of COVID-19 tests came back positive; in late April, that share was 1.9%. (Last summer's peak test-positive rate was 12.8%, at the end of August.)

Doctors at hospitals in Southern California and the San Francisco Bay Area are also seeing an uptick in coronavirus spread.

"We're certainly seeing a bit of a small increase. And this is all due to the so-called FLiRT variants," said Dr. Elizabeth Hudson, regional chief of infectious disease at Kaiser Permanente Southern California.

The increase has so far been seen primarily in outpatient cases at Kaiser.

"Anytime there's a new variant, then, unfortunately, the new variants will have the ability to [overcome immunity resulting from prior infection], and if it's been awhile since someone has been vaccinated, they obviously will not have the same level of protection as someone who was more recently vaccinated," Hudson said.

In San Francisco, infectious disease doctors are noticing more people in the hospital with COVID-caused pneumonia.

"I have seen more than I would expect, of sick people in the hospital" for COVID, said Dr. Peter Chin-Hong, a UC San Francisco infectious diseases expert. The number was just a handful, "but it's definitely noticeable."

Based on his reading of wastewater data, "we know that it's up, and it's up earlier," Chin-Hong said of coronavirus activity.

"Last year, I think it was late June when it started going up, and this year it's, like, now it's late May. So it's a little bit earlier, but we're starting from a very low place," Chin-Hong said.

And anecdotally, people in the Bay Area are talking about COVID more, it seems, Chin-Hong said. He recalled hearing about someone's child's classroom dealing with a COVID case a few days ago.

"It's not necessarily an alarming number now, but it is ... the beginning of the summer, so that's what we expect," Chin-Hong said.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has also started to see a very small uptick in cases in recent days.

From May 10 to 15, the most recent data available, there were an average of 82 to 92 COVID-19 cases per day, an increase from earlier in the spring. There were an average of 60 to 80 new cases a day between March 25 and May 9, L.A. County health officials said in a statement to The Times. The case counts typically reflect tests done at medical facilities and don't include home tests — nor do the tallies account for infections among people who don't test.

"It’s too soon to tell if this very small increase in recent days will become a sustained uptick. These case counts are low, making it difficult at this time to assess real trends," the L.A. County Department of Public Health said.

Coronavirus levels in L.A. County wastewater remain relatively stable, at 9% of last winter's peak. But the data in those findings have a significant reporting lag, with the most recent data available being for the 10-day period that ended May 11.

Elsewhere in the state, viral levels in sewage are rising, including in Santa Clara County — Northern California's most populous and the home of Silicon Valley. In recent weeks, coronavirus levels reached the "high" threshold in Palo Alto's sewershed.

With the summer travel season set to begin in earnest this Memorial Day weekend , doctors urged people to consider getting up to date on their vaccinations — particularly if they are at higher risk of severe complications from COVID-19.

In California, just 36% of seniors ages 65 and older have received the updated COVID-19 vaccine that first became available in September. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has urged everyone ages 6 months and older to get one dose of the updated vaccine. A second dose is also recommended for those ages 65 and older, as long as at least four months have passed since their last shot.

It's especially important that older people get at least one updated dose. Of the patients he has seen recently who had serious COVID, Chin-Hong said, all of them hadn't gotten an updated vaccine since September, and were older or immunocompromised.

"We are still seeing individuals hospitalized, and based on CDC data presented in February, more than 95% of those hospitalized had not received the updated 2023–2024 vaccine," the L.A. County Department of Public Health said. CDC data have shown that getting the updated vaccine offered 54% increased protection against COVID-19 illness compared with those who did not get the shot.

Read more: Older Californians now eligible for another COVID-19 vaccine dose

For older people considering a second updated COVID-19 vaccination now, factors to consider include travel plans or whether they have a job where they interact with many people, doctors say. There's plenty of time to get that vaccine now, and also get the expected new formulation in the autumn.

"By getting your booster now, you're really going to give yourself protection to make it through this likely summer wave," Hudson said.

Even though for many people COVID no longer means a visit to the hospital, "for some people, it is a big deal," Chin-Hong said. "And those are the people I saw in the hospital — they were very, very sick, and they were there for some time."

Nationally, since the start of October, more than 43,000 people have died of COVID, according to the CDC, including more than 3,400 in California. By contrast, flu has probably resulted in fewer deaths nationally — an estimated 25,000 over the same time period.

Read more: Risk for chronic fatigue soars among those who had COVID-19, study says

The risk of death among those hospitalized is higher for those with COVID than with the flu, especially among older people, according to the L.A. County Department of Public Health.

"When you're in the hospital, lots of other things can happen. ... You can catch hospital-acquired infections. So you always want to prevent hospitalization," Chin-Hong said.

California recently achieved a significant COVID milestone — zero deaths on a single calendar day, April 2, a feat not achieved since the first days of the pandemic. Los Angeles County also experienced a new record low for deaths — an average of 0.14 deaths a day over a weekly period, which was recorded for the seven-day period that ended April 2.

"It is a triumph of science, truly, that we have gotten to a point where we have a day where there are zero COVID deaths," Hudson said, crediting factors such as the development of vaccines and anti-COVID drugs, along with honing techniques used to treat patients.

Still, "COVID is not just a flu or a cold," Hudson said. "COVID can potentially for some people have very long-lasting impacts. ... Long COVID really makes things different."

Read more: Here's why some high-risk patients aren't getting drugs to combat COVID

There is evolving evidence that the more times you get COVID, the more likely long COVID will develop , Hudson said. And "it does seem like people in their 30s and 40s are the ones who are more likely to get long COVID."

Some patients have been permanently disabled by long COVID, but, Hudson said, "for most people, it does seem — maybe after 12 months, sometimes 18 months — all the symptoms do resolve. But that's a long time to not feel good."

There has been much discussion that long COVID's prevalence is lower than early in the pandemic. But even now, every time someone gets COVID, there's still a chance long COVID can develop.

Some patients "have problems with breathing," Hudson said. Others can develop something called POTS, which stands for postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, and can cause sharp spikes in the heart rate and dizziness.

"Long COVID can affect the autonomic nervous system in ways that we don't 100% understand yet," Hudson said. "But we know that people end up with this particular syndrome and it can be life-altering."

Read more: $62,000 and three years later: Long COVID continues to upend this California couple’s lives

Besides getting up to date on vaccinations, doctors offered the following advice on preparing for an expected increase in COVID circulation:

• Avoid sick people. Some sick people might pass off their symptoms as a "cold," when it could be the start of a COVID-19 illness.

• Test if you're sick, and test daily. It's sometimes taking longer after the onset of illness for a COVID-19 rapid test to show up as positive. Consider taking a rapid COVID test once a day for three to five consecutive days after the onset of cough-and-cold symptoms, Hudson said. Doing so can help the sickened person take measures to later isolate themselves and limit spread of the illness to others.

• Have a plan to ask for Paxlovid if you become ill. Paxlovid is an antiviral drug that, when taken by people at risk for severe COVID-19 who have mild-to-moderate illness, reduces the risk of hospitalization and death.

• Masks are much less common these days but can still be a handy tool to prevent infection. Wearing a mask on a crowded flight where there are coughing people nearby can help reduce the risk of infection.

Nicki Minaj's concert at the Co-op Live arena in Manchester, attended by thousands of fans, has been postponed at the last minute after she was arrested hours earlier in the Netherlands.

The American singer and rapper, 41, was held at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport on suspicion of possession of soft drugs.

Update: Fans blame venue - not arrest

She later apologised to fans after eventually landing in Manchester late on Saturday night.

She posted on X: "Thank you to everyone who prayed for me today. May God cover you and all that is connected to you. May you be blessed beyond your imagination.

"Please please please accept my deepest & most sincere apologies."

Fans had been let into the indoor venue on Saturday evening despite the star's detention.

A post on the arena's X account said shortly after 5.15pm: "Please note that general admission and premium doors for tonight's Nicki Minaj show will now open at 19:00."

Minaj was later released from custody just before 9pm but she will have to pay an undisclosed fine for "illegally exporting soft drugs from the Netherlands to another country", Dutch police told Sky News.

Despite her release, she was not able to make it to Manchester in time, however, in the early hours of Sunday, Minaj posted a live stream on Instagram from central Manchester, showing a crowd of fans in the street below.

The gig will be moved to a later date with a statement from promoters Live Nation saying: "Tickets will remain valid for the rescheduled performance which will be announced ASAP."

It added: "Despite Nicki's best efforts to explore every possible avenue to make tonight's show happen, the events of today have made it impossible. We are deeply disappointed by the inconvenience this has caused."

In a series of social media posts on X and Instagram, Minaj earlier claimed police said they found drugs in her luggage after items were checked by customs.

She wrote on X that "they said they found weed". She also claimed "they took my luggage without consent" and "they're trying to keep me from MANCHESTER".

The messages also included one where she wrote: "This is Amsterdam btw, where weed is legal."

The star, whose hit songs include Starships, Super Bass and Anaconda, also filmed what appeared to be an airport official asking her to have her luggage checked.

Minaj later wrote: "It's a 45 minute to an hour flight. So they're probably trying to stall for about 4 hours."

And she added: "Now they said I have to go 5 mins away to make a statement about my security to the police precinct."

Asked about Minaj, Robert van Kapel, a spokesman for the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee military police, earlier told Sky News' US partner network NBC News: "We can confirm that we have arrested a 41-year-old American woman at Schiphol Airport because of possession of soft drugs."

Concert-goers 'sobbing' after announcement

Fans of the singer expressed their dismay at the decision to postpone the concert.

"Die-hard Nicki fan" Charu, who had travelled from Liverpool for the show, said the evening was "so ridiculously disappointing".

"My sister and I had been looking forward to this for months. I'm in the middle of taking my medical school exams and I had been working around this day and was so looking forward to it," they said.

"People around us said they'd travelled from Ireland and Scotland, paid for hotels for the night in Manchester, which is not cheap.

"So the fact that tickets will be refunded or still valid for another concert doesn't really put into perspective the time and money that we have all spent on this night."

They added: "Her team surely would have known that the concert tonight was not going to be possible but to wait until 9.30pm to let us know feels disrespectful of our time and efforts."

Charu said that concert-goers were "sobbing" after the announcement, and they will not be getting their hopes up about attending the rescheduled concert.

"Whenever she may postpone it to, it isn't guaranteed that people can take time off work, be able to afford trains, flights, hotels to be able to make it to the show. It's just very disappointing and upsetting."

As part of her Pink Friday 2 World Tour, Minaj is due to perform in Birmingham on Sunday, followed by a concert at London's O2 arena next Tuesday.

Then on Wednesday, she is due to play in Glasgow followed by a gig on Thursday, again at the Co-op Live in Manchester.

The beleaguered £365m arena - the UK's largest indoor entertainment venue - opened earlier this month after it was plagued by a series of problems.

There had been weeks of setbacks, cancellations and postponements, before live music finally got under way there on 14 May when Manchester rock band Elbow took to the stage .

The problems included part of the building's ventilation and air conditioning system falling to the ground from the ceiling during a soundcheck in early May.

The 23,500-capacity venue was initially due to fully open with two Peter Kay stand-up shows on 23 and 24 April, but these dates were pushed back when problems emerged at a test event headlined by Ricky Astley.

The arena then planned for US rapper A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie to open the arena on 1 May, but it was called off just over an hour before his performance and after doors had opened to fans - because the ventilation system became detached.

The ventilation issue meant scheduled performances by US pop star Olivia Rodrigo and British band Keane were postponed, while a series of shows by Take That were moved to the AO Arena in Manchester.
