Glen Cairn Golf Course

As designers we wanted the golfer to feel like they had the entire course to themselves. Our 6200 yard course is spread across 155 plus acres that will deliver a challenging experience and leave every golfer walking away with their own memorable experience. Explore fairways guarded by hills and woods on either side, scale rock walls to elevated greens and put your golf game to the test on Glen Cairn's Scottish design. Jerry Berkholtz started building Glen Cairn in 1988 with an eye for natural terrain and his very own caterpillar named Bueford. The original 9 holes was created on 90 acres of farmland and woods, with the building process taking a little over 2 years. Glen Cairn opened in the fall of 1990 for play. This family run business expanded to 18 holes in 2001 to allow for greater play and more distance for the golfers. The new nine was interwoven into the old nine seamlessly and added considerable length to the majority of holes. The 2nd generation of Berkholtz's are proud owners of the course and hope you enjoy playing Glen Cairn as much as they did building it.

Door County Trolley has been a staple in Door County, Wisconsin since May of 2000. It all started with AJ Frank, a home care nurse for 12 years in Milwaukee. In 1999 he went on vacation to Savannah, Georgia with his wife and newborn son. They took a tour and he thought to himself, “I can do this!” Upon returning to their home in Cedarburg, AJ and his wife Cheryl sold their house, quit their jobs, and moved their family to Door County, Wisconsin. He bought his first trolley and started offering Door County Trolley Tours.

At Door County Trolley we believe in providing our guests with the best possible experience. We specialize in scenic tours and wine tours and offer 18 experiences for guests to chose from to truly explore the best of Door County. Don’t take our word for it. Trust our more than 2,000 reviews with an average rating of 4.9 stars! Your fun starts with Door County Trolley.

Over 2,000+ 5-Star Reviews From Guests!

Had a wonderful time with our friends on the tour! Enjoyed all of our visits to the wineries, distillery and cheese shop. A highlight of the tour was definitely the sleigh ride. Enjoyed our lunch at the beautiful English Inn. Our tour guide Henk was just a delight, with wonderful stories about the history of Door County and lots of greats spots to visit. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone!

My friends and I celebrated my birthday by doing a wine, spirits and beer trolley tour. Our Trolley tour guide John, made us laugh and kept us entertained all day long. We drank, we laughed, and we got home safe! Thanks to the Door County Trolley company for making this trip a memorable one! Can’t wait to go back on another tour!

I give this activity a 10 out of 10! Absolutely amazing with a great guide, beautiful scenery, and fantastic music. The entire trolley was interactive and you were able to quickly make friends with others out for a good time. Our guide definitely made a difference in keeping everyone pumped and did an amazing job of keeping us all engaged. I will be back for another tour and couldn't be happier to have used this service for our first girl's weekend!

We did this tour with a group of ten and had reserved online (highly recommended for a group). We did the murder and mayhem tour and it was fun and informative. The driver was engaging and he obviously knew a lot about the area, he had very good recommendations for places to eat or visit for the weekend. It a great way to see the area without having to battle the traffic.

Wow! What a fun night on the Ghost tour of Door County! Our trolley driver and tour guide, Ed, was such a spectacular storyteller and historian! I totally recommend this tour. Whenever I return to Door County, I’ll book the Murder and Mayhem tour because Ed guides that tour as well! Thanks so much Door county trolley!

Loved the scenic tour. Tour guide Boyd was very friendly, funny and informative. I’ve been to Door County many times. This tour filled in the blanks of places up there that I’ve wondered about. I would love to come back & do some of the other tours available. I would highly recommend this tour.

WI Tour 2024 Updates & Goals

The WDSA board wishes to help players navigate planning so they can compete in the WI Disc Golf Tour 2024.  There were 22 WI Tour tournaments last year. The most common WI Tour structure for an individual tournament is one day for upper rated divisions and one day for lower rated divisions, no matter how many courses are used. The WI Tour requires at least 144 player roster spots to be available per tournament. The 2023 season had 190 different people play at least five WI Tour tournaments. That is equal to 48 holes of 4 players on each card. The popularity of tournaments in WI clearly shows that the WI Tour needs to provide a lot of roster spots. During the 2023 season, there were six tournaments that offered 18-20 holes per round, one that offered 27 holes and nine that used 2 courses per day. Six more tournaments used at least three courses per day. In 2023 there were more than 185 events offered in WI. Three A Tier, all on the WI Tour, 48 PDGA B Tier events in Wisconsin of which nineteen were WI Tour events. There were also 111 C Tier and 23 more unsanctioned events. Every player should be able to find events that work for them.

The Wisconsin Tour goal for the 2024 season is to increase roster spots. One way this could have been accomplished is by eliminating divisions. We chose not to go that route. To support players committed to the WI Tour, tough decisions have been made and we understand that not all players will be happy with the final decisions. Adding additional roster spots to the tour happened by adding tournaments or adding courses to existing tournaments. 1. The Spring Fling Women's only tournament at Rollin Ridge last year was the first dedicated division event that asked for and was accepted to the tour. Further adjustments may be necessary in future years. There are currently at least 2 Master only tournaments and more than two women’s only tournaments that are not on the WI Tour. There are Junior tournament organizers that have shown curiosity for possible connection with the WI Tour. We are always interested in listening to ways to promote disc golf. Lake Superior Open and Highbridge Hills while still on the entire WI tournament schedule have left the WI Disc Golf Tour. A reason was not enough WI players entered. Losing a very good TD and many excellent courses is a loss to the WI Tour but I encourage players to attend these great events. We hope the Highbridge Hills group will find a weekend and director during the summer for a WI Tour stop. When that happens, it will be announced.  Skyline is still figuring out what it will do in this 2024 season.

2. We recommend Tour Td's use a tiered entry system that could relieve some of the super quick sellouts of tournaments. Some Td's have been starting registration with set numbers of players for divisions, which helps as well. Especially for small divisions. If a WI Tour tournament is posted online even before registration is open and they do not have your division listed with an amount of spots saved for a certain amount of time, please contact the TD to give your division a chance to play.

Every year the Tour committee critiques the WI Tour, resulting in changes. We try to figure out how to make it work for as many players and TDs as possible. The WI Tour started in 1993 with four tournaments. In 31 years, it has grown from a small community into a highly popular sport - it has outgrown its shoes, house, yard, and garage.

The 2024 WI Disc Golf Tour Finale will be hosted by Josh Hamm of Riverside Disc Golf in West Bend using Riverside and Sandy Knoll Disc Golf Courses. Players must earn invitations using earned points at WI Tour tournaments. Tour champion plaques will be awarded at the Finale. Players do not have to be from Wisconsin to earn points toward qualifying for the Finale.

WIDISCSPORTS CALENDAR AND MORE I would like to remind players that widiscsports.com has posted a working calendar of all WI tournaments that go through the current PDGA State Coordinator, Mike Harrington. Not just WI Tour, but any organized event. We will add as many registration links as we can. TDs should add links here .  This is the same website that includes tour points, rules, and an archive that is in the process of documenting WI people, places and events that have shaped Frisbee and disc sports in the state.  This website also includes a list of every Developmental fund donation WDSA has awarded. Over $80,000 from 2000 to 2023. This is money raised with a $1 donation from every player at every WI Tour tournament. This is part of the reason that there are so many disc golf courses in WI.  There is a fun state map that interactively tracks the history of course development. From the few fists full to over 450 courses now.

The TOUR In Wisconsin, we have an active tour that tracks player’s scores for a series of tournaments. The tour provides the “most coveted” black disc for each division’s champion at each tour stop. At the end of the season, trophies are awarded to the state champion and runners up in each division at our end of the season finale. This is a tour not a single tournament championship.

Divisions recognized for black disc, points and tour champion

1.    For divisions with 3 or more players, the tour will track points and offer a black disc to the division winner. 2.    If a particular division has been awarded a Black Disc at 5 or more events, the tour will award a Tour Champion for that division at the end of the season. 3.    This is a points series meaning that the player earning the most points through the season becomes Tour Champion. The number of stops that count toward your points total will be based of the number of completed tournaments of the Tour. This will be half the total number of stops of the Tour. For example: 21 stops 10 count, 20 stops, 10 count. 19 stops, 9 count. 18 stops, 9 count. There are 21 WI Tour stops for any division this year. If we end up with 21 tournaments this year that would be 10 scores.

A note to players, Most TD's will be agreeable to include additional divisions if they are contacted in advance and if they are assured of having a minimum of players in that division. Also, players will only receive points in the division which they are registered. Black discs will only be awarded to divisions with 3 or more players.

Waiver Rule; A change for the 2024 season; the WI Disc Golf Tour will not use the division waiver rule. All PDGA Sanctioned point series tours have the right to either use or not use this rule. This means a player may earn points earned from any division they play in to qualify for the Finale. All players must abide by the current PDGA rating system. Td’s must follow the system rules and move players to the division the player is currently rated in.

Wisconsin Disc Golf Tour Division Champions & Tour Finale

In addition to the PDGA points you will earn on the tour at our stops, you will also earn Wisconsin points for your play on the tour. Participants will be awarded points based on their finish within their division. We award 100 points for first place regardless of the number within the division (3 person minimum). Points for the rest of the division will be a percentage of 100. For example if there are 4 players, first gets 100 points, 2nd gets 75 points, 3rd gets 50 points, and 4th 25 points. The intent is to evenly balance out the points awarded at smaller events with the larger attended events. These points you earn will help determine the divisional state champions for the season as well as who gets invited to the tour finale. We will only award spots to players based on their finish throughout the season. Make sure to play in as many events as you can to earn a spot.

There are 2 fees (or funds) that each player incurs while playing at all Wisconsin Disc Golf Tour stops. These extra monies are included in your entry fee for the tournament. First, we have a disc sports development fund that is collected from every player at each stop, this fee is $1. This money is made available for major upgrades on existing courses or installations of new courses here in the state. $80,000 have been donated since 2000. Second, we have a tour participation fee that pays for trophies and prizes/purse for the season finale. All Pro, Advanced, Intermediate and Recreational divisions pay $1 per tour stop into this fund. Juniors are not required to pay this fee.

What Are the Requirements for a PGA Tour Card? 6 Ways to Earn One

Here are 6 ways to earn a PGA Tour card

Ben Martin earns his PGA Tour Card

In a lot of ways, getting a PGA Tour card is like winning the lottery. The path is simple, but the odds are against you. If you beat those odds, however, the payout is handsome.

To play as a member on the PGA Tour, you must have a PGA Tour card. Players earn their card by accomplishing one of several requirements. Here’s a breakdown of just how to earn a PGA Tour card, and six ways to snag one.

1. PGA Tour Q-School

PGA Tour Q-School used to be a direct path to the PGA Tour. Then Q-School stopped giving players PGA Tour cards, giving them status on the Korn Ferry Tour instead, where they could play for spots on the PGA Tour over the course of an entire season. But now, just like in years past, players can earn a PGA Tour card through Q-School and head straight to the PGA Tour. However, only the top five finishers from the final stage of Q-School earn PGA Tour cards and get to head directly to the PGA Tour.

Korn Ferry Tour: Strategies to Qualify and Challenges to Expect

2. Korn Ferry Tour Points

The most direct path to the PGA Tour is through the Korn Ferry Tour. While gaining Korn Ferry Tour status is no breeze in itself, once there, players have multiple avenues to earn their PGA Tour card.

There are 30 PGA Tour cards up for grabs through the Korn Ferry Tour each year. The top 30 players from the Korn Ferry Tour's season-long standings after the KFT Championship earn cards.

Getting into the Korn Ferry Tour is a process in itself, which can be accomplished through Korn Ferry Tour Qualifying School , or via the Forme Tour , Mackenzie (Canadian) Tour, or the PGA Tour Latinoamerica.

3. Korn Ferry Tour Three-Win Promotion

Korn Ferry Tour players can jump directly to the PGA Tour through an exemption known as the Three-Win Promotion . This promotion is exactly what it sounds like, after three Korn Ferry Tour wins in one season, a player gains his PGA Tour card.

The three-win promotion has proven to be a tough route to the big tour, as only 12 players have accomplished the feat since 1997.

4. PGA Tour Special Temporary Membership

Players can bypass the Korn Ferry Tour and jump straight to the PGA Tour by gaining PGA Tour Special Temporary Membership, then parlaying that into a PGA Tour card.

The PGA Tour reserves a small number of spots each week for non-Tour members through sponsor exemptions and Monday qualifiers. Non-members who compete in PGA Tour events through these avenues and perform well enough can earn Special Temporary Membership by accumulating the amount of FedExCup points equal to the player who finished 150th on the FedExCup list the previous season.

Once a player has accepted Special Temporary Membership, they can accept unlimited sponsor exemptions into PGA Tour events and can earn their card by finishing in the top 125 of the FedExCup points list during the regular season.

Without Special Temporary Membership, non-members can only accept up to seven sponsor exemptions and compete in up to 12 PGA Tour events in a season.

Players on a Special Temporary Membership are not eligible for the FedExCup playoffs.

5. PGA Tour U Gets College Golfers to the PGA Tour

Through PGA Tour U , the PGA Tour has removed some hurdles for the top collegiate players who begin their transition into the professional ranks when their amateur careers end.

Top collegiate players in the final year of their college careers earn ranking points based on their performance in the NCAA Division I championship, PGA Tour events, major championships, and the Dubai Desert Classic. At the end of the season, five PGA Tour University first-team and second-team honorees are identified, along with 10 PGA Tour University third-team players.

The top player earns PGA TOUR membership for the rest of the season, plus the followig season. The top five players earn Korm Ferry Tour membership for the rest of the season, a spot in the Final Stage of Q-School, and the opportunity to accept unlimited sponsor exemptions into PGA Tour events throug the following season.

Nos. 6-10 earn conditional Korn Ferry Tour status for the current season, an exemption into the North American portion of the PGA TOUR Americas schedule, and an exemption into Second Stage of Q-School.

The 10 third-team honorees get exemptions to the North America Swing of the PGA TOUR Americas and exemptions into the Second Stage of Q-School.

6. Win a PGA Tour Event or Major Championship

The fastest way to earn a PGA Tour card is also the least likely. Anybody who wins a PGA Tour event gets an immediate two-year PGA Tour exemption. This means that any non-member who gets into the field at a PGA Tour event via a sponsor exemption or Monday qualifier, and goes on to win that event, gets their PGA Tour card.

While yes, this path is extremely rare, it's exactly what Nick Dunlap did in 2024. He entered a PGA Tour event, the American Express, as an amateur, and despite the astronomica odds, won the tournament. Shortly after, Dunlap took advantage of his two-plus year PGA Tour exemption by turning pro.

Major champions get even more luxury, securing a five-year exemption to both the PGA Tour and European Tour. Three of the four major championships each year reserve spots for amateur players , meaning that theoretically an amateur could win the Masters, U.S. Open or Open Championship and secure their PGA Tour card for the next five years.

Benefits of a Tour Card

By having a PGA Tour card, a golfer can play in PGA Tour events. Many players also receive sponsor endorsements and advertising contracts. The PGA Tour card provides the player the opportunity to win large purses in tournaments . Players who make the cut in routine PGA Tour events generally cash at least a five-figure check, with that amount increasing with higher-stature events and major championships.

In 1965, the first PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament (called Q-School) was held and John Schlee won the event. In 1968 and 1969 and from 1975 to 1981, there were two tournaments each year.

Until 2013, Q-School was used to grant membership to the PGA Tour. From 2013 to 2023, Q-School served as a gateway to the Korn Ferry Tour, with PGA Tour Cards handed out through the Korn Ferry Tour regular season and finals.

Misconceptions

Many people think that if a player holds a PGA Tour Card, he can play in any event on the PGA tour. However, new PGA tour players are eligible for tournaments but players commit to tournaments based on their priority ranking. Players with lower priority rankings can only play an event when it's not already full by the time they have a chance to commit.

How it works: Earning a PGA TOUR card from the Korn Ferry Tour

For those who aspire to play professional golf, the PGA TOUR is often considered the pinnacle.

The Korn Ferry Tour is the primary way to get there.

Each season, the Korn Ferry Tour offers PGA TOUR membership for the following season to players who finish highest on the season-long standings, otherwise known as the Korn Ferry Tour Points List.

This number has steadily grown since the Korn Ferry Tour’s inception in 1990 (five cards), to the current 30 cards allotted via the season-long standings. These cards are finalized after the Korn Ferry Tour Championship presented by United Leasing & Finance in mid-October.

Players who earn PGA TOUR membership via the Korn Ferry Tour category will earn spots in a ‘Korn Ferry Tour graduates’ category on the PGA TOUR Priority Ranking. This category is slotted directly below PGA TOUR exempt members from the prior season (Top 125 category). Reshuffles will occur in certain intervals throughout the season to ensure high-achieving players are positioned accordingly.

The Korn Ferry Tour's season-long points winner, though, will earn fully exempt PGA TOUR status for the next season, immune from the reshuffle category. This player will also receive a spot in THE PLAYERS Championship and U.S. Open.

Players to finish No. 1 in recent years include Justin Suh (2022), Stephan Jaeger (2020-21), Scottie Scheffler (2019) and Sungjae Im (2018).

How many TOUR cards have been offered each year?

The Korn Ferry Tour was introduced in 1990, with five TOUR cards awarded. This number has steadily increased through the years – 10 in 1992, 15 in 1997, 20 in 2003, 25 in 2007, then to the current 30 cards as of 2023.

What about the Korn Ferry Tour Finals?

The Korn Ferry Tour Finals was introduced in 2013 as a four-event series (later shortened to three events) to provide a second chance for players to gain or improve TOUR status, following the Regular Season. The Finals Points List comprised Nos. 26-75 on the Korn Ferry Tour Regular Season Points List, Nos. 126-200 on the FedExCup standings, non-members and medical extensions.

Effective in 2023, the Finals has been reimagined – once again a four-event series, but only comprising the top players on the season-long Korn Ferry Tour Points List. The first Finals event will feature 156 players, with the field size reducing to 144, 120 and 75 players respectively as the series progresses to its conclusion. The FedExCup standings are no longer criteria for Korn Ferry Tour Finals eligibility.

Travelers Championship 2024 Bet Slip: Picks To Win, Finishing Positions, One-And-Done Pick

For a third straight week, the PGA TOUR treats us to a big-boy tournament: Travelers Championship 2024 at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut. It’s the final "signature event" of the 2024 season. Reigning Travelers champion, and New England native, Keegan Bradley defends his title in a field with most of the top 50 in the FedExCup standings.

This field features World No. 1, and 2024 Masters champion, Scottie Scheffler and PGA champion Xander Schauffele . Xander won the 2022 Travelers, Harris English won two years ago, LIV Tour defector Dustin Johnson in 2020, and Chez Reavie in 2019. The Travelers is a birdie fest with an average winning score of -18 over the last five years.

It is the second-most attended tournament on the PGA TOUR annually, behind the Waste Management Phoenix Open. Fellow OutKick writer, golf bettor, and Connecticut resident, Dan Zaksheske will be at TPC River Highlands this weekend to heckle the golfers he faded (just kidding).

Golfers will leave their drivers in the bag because TPC River Highlands is the fourth-shortest course on TOUR. This is a Pete Dye-designed par-70 with narrow fairways and small Bentgrass/Poa greens playing to roughly 6,835 yards.

Last week, I failed to capture my "North America Trifecta" by not accurately picking the U.S. Open winner. That said, I cashed four of seven finishing position bets and scraped out a +0.44 units (u) win at the U.S. Open. As a result, my PGA TOUR 2024 balance is -39.98u . But, I cannot make my money back by quitting, so let’s get into the betting card for the 2024 Travelers Championship.

Travelers Championship 2024 Betting Card

Stats courtesy of Bet The Number from the Tour Junkies, Pay Mayo's Fantasy National, and the PGA Tour.

‘Starting 5’

The odds chosen are the best available at legal U.S. sportsbooks as of noon ET Tuesday, June 18th.

Ludvig Åberg (+1400)

We see Åberg dominate on his first visit to these courses since it’s his rookie season. But, Ludvig became a full-time PGA TOUR pro in June 2023 after finishing first at last year’s PGA TOUR University. His second start last season was the Travelers and tied for 24th with a -13 score despite losing strokes with his irons, per Bet The Number .

The Swede gained strokes tee-to-green, off-the-tee (OTT), around-the-green, and putting at the 2023 Travelers though. I’m giving Ludvig the benefit of the doubt about last year’s performance with his irons in the Travelers. This season, Åberg ranks 15th in Strokes Gained (SG): Approach (APP) on TOUR.

Åberg is already one of the best in the world OTT. And you’d think because TPC River Highlands isn’t a "bomber’s paradise", Åberg’s prowess OTT won’t help him much this week. However, 2020 Travelers champion, Johnson, three-time Travelers champion, and fellow LIV Tour Defector, Bubba Watson were excellent OTT in their primes.

Furthermore, Åberg can just overpower these small courses. Ludvig’s effortless swing helps him gain strokes on the field OTT when pulling less than driver. His power makes it easy for Åberg to hit the green after clubbing down with his tee shot. Ludvig’s only career win on The RSM Classic with a -29 score during the 2023 FedExCup Fall schedule.

The RSM is at the Sea Island Golf Club’s Seaside Course, another small, birdie fest par-70 course (7,005 yards). Granted, the Travelers has a much tougher field. Yet, I trust Åberg’s skill set to score more birdies at TPC River Highlands this year. More importantly, Ludvig has contended in several "signature events" and is ready to win one of these.

BET 1.6 units (u) on Ludvig Åberg (+1400) to profit 22.5u.

_____________________________

Patrick Cantlay (+2000)

This is a "course history" bet. Cantlay leads this field in total SG over the last Travelers Championships, per Fantasy National . He’s finished inside the top 15 in his last six starts at TPC River Highlands with a career-best T4 in 2023. Cantlay had the second-best odds (+1000) at the 2023 Travelers, tied with Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy, and third-best odds (+1200) in 2022.

The eight-time PGA TOUR champion is having a down year. He showed glimpses of his old self in the U.S. Open last week. Cantlay was leading the U.S. Open after the first round and finished T3. Moreover, his "bad" ain’t that bad and we are getting good odds.

Cantlay tied for 11th at Pebble Beach (a crossover course with TPC River Highlands), T4 at The Genesis Invitational, and T3 at the RBC Heritage (played at another comp course to River Highlands), and all three were "signature events".

Also, when Cantlay is on his game, he’s one of the best drivers of the golf ball in the world. He’s not quite the "bomber" of DJ and Bubba. Nonetheless, last season, Cantlay was fourth in SG: OTT on TOUR, 17th in 2021-22, and 12th in 2020-21.

The American Ryder Cup team member is equal parts long and accurate with his driver. For TPC River Highlands, accuracy is handy for Cantlay since the course’s only defense is narrow fairways and small greens.

When playing well, Cantlay is good throughout the bag, which makes me confident in betting him at a birdie fest . Finally, he’s gained strokes OTT, ARG, APP, and putting in four consecutive Travelers Championships.

BET 1.13u on Patrick Cantlay (+2000) to profit 22.5u.

Sam burns (+3300) .

Burns has true "win equity" and has quietly been playing well recently. He was T13 at the Wells Fargo Championship ("signature event"), T10 at the RBC Canadian Open, T15 at the Memorial Tournament ("signature event"), and T9 at last week's U.S. Open.

He won back-to-back Valspar Championships in 2021-22 at Innisbrook, a comp course to TPC River Highlands. Last year, Burns won the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play at another Dye course, Austin Country Club. He was T6 at The American Express at Dye's Stadium Course and the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial, and won last year's Charles Schwab.

The biggest concern with betting Burns is his driving accuracy. Yet, per DataGolf.com, Burns has been more accurate than the field in six of his last seven starts, including three "signature events" and two majors. The Travelers can be a putting contest and Burns is one of the best putters on TOUR.

BET 0.75u on Sam Burns (+3300) to profit 22.5u.

Christiaan bezuidenhout (+9000).

Originally, Denny McCarthy was my pick for this price range. But, when D-Mac 's odds dropped out of this price range, I switched to C-Bez , who has a similar skill-set. Both are fantastic putters who cannot drive the ball far but can hit fairways.

Bezuidenhout has three top 10s this year and ranks 13th on TOUR in total SG. His top 10s include a second at The AmEx, T9 at the Valspar, and fourth at the Memorial. He tied for 20th at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am ("signature event") and T13 at THE PLAYERS.

The South African is 40th in the Official World Golf Rankings and 16th in DataGolf.com's rankings, which I trust more. Bezuidenhout ranks eighth in this field for total SG on crossover courses to TPC River Highlands, according to Bet The Number .

BET 0.25u on Christiaan Bezuidenhout (+9000) to profit 22.5u.

  • I'm also adding a 0.75u bet on Christiaan Bezuidenhout Top-20 (+180) to profit 1.35u.

Victor Perez (+22500)

At these odds, I can overlook Perez’s missed cut at last week’s U.S. Open. It’s a major and Pinehurst’s No. 2 course is the toughest on TOUR this season. Perez tied for 12th two weeks ago at the Memorial Tournament and finished third at the RBC Canadian Open three starts prior.

Muirfield Village (host of the Memorial) and Hamilton Golf & Country Club (host of the Canadian Open) have Bentgrass/Poa greens like TPC River Highlands. The Frenchman picked up nearly a half-stroke on the greens at the Memorial and more than nine strokes putting at the Canadian Open.

Perez rookie is 16th in SG: APP this season, the most important stat for the Travelers. The PGA TOUR rookie has proven he can go low; he shot -14 at the Canadian Open, -18 in a T3 at the Puerto Rico Open, and -11 in a T16 at the Cognizant Classic.

BET 0.1u on Victor Perez (+22500) to profit 22.5u.

  • I'm also adding a 0.4u bet on Victor Perez Top-20 (+333) to profit 1.5u.

Additional Finishing Position Bets

Make placement bets at BetMGM since that's the only sportsbook that isn't applying "dead heat" rules to the Travelers Championship.

Corey Conners Top-10 (+225): 0.5u to profit 1.13u

Despite his putting woes, Conners ranks fifth in my 40-round model at Bet The Number . The Canadian is 15th in total SG on TOUR this season, second in SG: APP and 19th in driving accuracy. He finished sixth in the RBC Canadian Open, which is effectively a major for him, and T9 at the U.S. Open.

Conners gained strokes putting in both the Canadian and U.S. Opens. The host course for the Canadian Open has a similar layout to TPC River Highlands and the same putting surface (Bentgrass/Poa greens). Conners was T9 at the 2023 Travelers and has made the cut in all 17 starts this season.

Keegan Bradley Top-10 (+300): 0.5u to profit 1.5u

My fellow St. John's 2008 classmate finished T2 at the Charles Schwab and Sony Open this year. Both of those tournaments are played at comp courses to TPC River Highlands, where he is the defending champion. Bradley plays well in New England and has three top 10s in his last seven Travelers.

Keegan Bradley celebrates with his son after the 2023 Travelers. (Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports)

Keegan Bradley celebrates with his son after the 2023 Travelers. (Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports)

Keegan is usually dialed in with the irons but has gained strokes on the greens in six of his last seven starts. This includes two "signature events" and all three majors. According to Bet The Number , Bradley is fifth in this field for SG: Putting on Bentgrass/Poa over the last 24 rounds.

Denny McCarthy Top-20 (+160): 0.75u to profit 1.2u

Just because I don't have an outright bet on him doesn't mean I'm completely removing McCarthy from my 2024 Travelers betting card. He is nasty at putting and doesn’t have to worry about driving the ball far at TPC River Highlands.

McCarthy is second on TOUR this season in SG: Putting and tied for seventh at the 2023 Travelers while gaining more than five strokes on the greens. His driving accuracy has been inconsistent this year. However, he’s been more accurate OTT than the field and gained strokes with his irons in four of his five career Travelers.

Travelers Championship 2024 One-And-Done Pick: Patrick Cantlay

The wheels are falling off in my 2024 Mayo Cup One-And-Done league. I went with Cam Smith for the 2024 U.S. Open, and he added a measly $110,894 to my season-long balance. After 22 tournaments, I've accrued $10,594,771, putting me in 1,512th place . Since I have no faith Cantlay can win a major, I need to use him at the Travelers.

Patrick Cantlay hits an approach shot in the final round of the 2024 U.S. Open at Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina. (Katie Goodale-USA TODAY Sports)

With that in mind, this is a tournament Cantlay wins. He's won the BMW Championship (second round of the FedExCup Playoffs) and Memorial twice each. Cantlay comes into the Travelers with some momentum after outperforming his odds at the 2024 U.S. Open. I'm worried about his popularity in this pool, but I need a win more than anything.

John pak on verge of pga tour card after notching first korn ferry win.

  • Brentley Romine ,
  • Brentley Romine

It took longer than many probably expected, but John Pak is on the verge of clinching his PGA Tour card.

Pak, the 25-year-old Florida State product, notched his first Korn Ferry Tour win Sunday at the Compliance Solutions Championship at Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club in Norman, Oklahoma. Pak’s three-shot victory moved him from No. 51 to ninth in points; the top 30 at season’s end earn Tour cards, and with just 11 events left, Pak has quite the cushion, though only No. 1 Tim Widing and No. 2 Harry Higgs are mathematically Tour bound.

Sitting at 21 under through 54 holes this week thanks to rounds of 64-66-65, Pak saw his seven-shot lead dwindle to just two as Jackson Suber fired a closing 63 to get in the clubhouse at 20 under. Pak then finished par-birdie-par to post 23 under and win by three.

Pak won a program-record eight times in four years at Florida State. He was a four-time All-American, twice a first-teamer, and as a senior he won the Haskins and Hogan awards while finishing atop the PGA Tour University standings.

However, Pak recorded just a single top-30 finish in 16 KFT starts after turning pro in June 2021. He went down to PGA Tour Canada and won there, but he then fell short of full KFT status at Q-School last winter.

Starting this year with conditional KFT membership, Pak eventually Monday-qualified into the Club Car Championship in Savannah, Georgia, and tied for third to improve his status.

Motley Crue plagued by awful sound at Summerfest — but new guitarist John 5 saves the day

wi tour card

Mötley Crüe played for one of the largest concert crowds in Milwaukee in 2022 at a swiftly sold-out American Family Field.

Two years later, circumstances have changed.

The American Family Insurance Amphitheater was hardly empty for their Summerfest headlining set Friday, but a couple of entire bleacher sections — and even pockets of seats in the lower bowl — were.

The truth is, that show two years back did so well because the band was coming out of (a seven-year) retirement, and they were sharing the bill with three acts — Def Leppard, Poison and Joan Jett — that ultimately outshined them.

But the fans who did come back for more Crüe were rewarded with one very big improvement — and one major setback.

More: Here's what you need to know about Summerfest 2024 tickets, parking and bag policy

I can’t tell you how many shows I’ve seen in the amphitheater since its $51.3 million remodel, much less when it was the Marcus Amphitheater. But from where I was, dead center in the lower bowl of the amphitheater, this was consistently the worst sound I’ve ever heard in the venue.

A blaring, hideous low end all but obscured the whole band — not for one song, or three, but for the first seven. The most-thrilled fans surrounding me didn’t seem to mind, but it’s atrocious that they spent as much as they did to get sound that inexcusably muddy. It eventually cleared up, with a few subsequent rough spots — but by that point, we were 40 minutes into an 85-minute show.

One silver lining: At least Vince Neil's vocals were drowned out. And even when the sound issues were fixed, his voice, wisely, remained quite low in the mix.

Neil's voice remains the band's weakest link, and perhaps recognizing that, his low point from the Milwaukee stop of that 2022 tour — an unmerciful "Saints of Los Angeles" — was cut from Friday's setlist, replaced by a more vocally amenable "On With the Show."

Ultimately, fans were subjected to only a couple of fingernails-on-a-chalkboard-like moments, including a ghastly snippet of the Beatles' "Helter Skelter." Thankfully, it was part of a medley, with other songs, like bratty renditions of the Ramones' "Blitzkrieg Bop" and Beastie Boys' "Fight for Your Right," more suitable for Neil's lack of strength.

Alas, there again was no escape during the stripped-down start of "Home Sweet Home" — with Neil's vocals essentially voiding any prettiness drummer Tommy Lee was attempting on piano — before he got back behind the kit and swiftly overpowered them.

With bassist Nikki Sixx essentially coasting as he did two years ago, Lee remains the most valuable original player in Crüe. But there's been one major roster change: Original guitarist Mick Mars is out, replaced by John 5, who made his name playing for Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie and others.

The split with Mars has been messy, but Mars also has had some significant health issues that he's said have caused him a great deal of pain while performing. It's fair to assume many fans would want the original lineup intact, but John 5 is a superb replacement. He dazzled with a five-minute solo (that served as a needed sound mix reset), and brought some fiery flair to standards like "Primal Scream" and "Wild Side" (two showcases that, unfortunately, were party of Friday's muddy mix portion of the set).

And his guitar work at the end of "Girls, Girls, Girls" was far more entertaining than anything else from the song's performance Friday, culminating with a performance of "The Star-Spangled Banner" with his teeth.

It's doubtful the addition of John 5 to the band will bring renewed vigor to the band — a new song made since Mars left, "Dogs of War," was met with indifference Friday night. But until Crüe inevitably goes on yet another farewell tour to counter dwindling ticket sales, they're very lucky to have him.

Seether, Buckcherry opened for Motley Crue

  • Seether was a peculiar choice for a 55-minute opening set Friday. The hard-rockers from South Africa share more sensibilities with Nirvana — which famously made bombastic ‘80s rock bands out of favor in the early ‘90s — than with the group they were opening for. Not surprisingly, there was plenty of passive listening going on in the amphitheater, and frontman Shaun Morgan didn’t bother trying to charm anyone with banter. But his angsty voice was so gripping during acoustic number “Broken” — Seether’s hit collaboration with Amy Lee — and the band was so visceral for the one-two closing punch of “Fake It” and “Remedy,” that the Mötley Crüe crowd enjoyed the dour appetizer en route to the hedonistic main course.
  • Say this about Buckcherry frontman, and lone original member, Josh Todd: It takes a special kind of talent to be a man in your mid-50s proudly singing boneheaded lyrics to a song like “Somebody (Expletive) Me Up” that was first released in your mid-40s and sounds like the first song written by an expletive-loving 8-year-old (with four minutes to spare). That was hardly the extent of his juvenile delusion — I wish I could un-see what he did to his handheld mic Friday at the end of their biggest hit “Crazy (Expletive)” (but perhaps not their most misogynistic). A bug on the stage bravely tried to put a stop to all this, and Todd did have to cough his way through “Gluttony” after he swallowed the flying insect. But despite this noble sacrifice, the show, sadly, went on.

England lock Ewels out of NZ tour after 2-match ban for red card against Japan

  • Copy Link copied

TOKYO (AP) — England lock Charlie Ewels was dropped from the tour of New Zealand after receiving a two-match ban on Sunday.

Ewels was red-carded for a dangerous ruck clearout of Japan captain Michael Leitch in their test on Saturday in Tokyo. England won 52-17.

At his judicial hearing, Ewels didn’t believe the foul was red card-worthy but the panel disagreed. He was suspended from England’s next two tests against the All Blacks on July 6 in Dunedin and July 13 in Auckland.

Ewels became the first England international to be sent off twice. After the first instance against Ireland in 2022, he was banned for three games.

He was replaced in the tour party by Saracens forward Nick Isiekwe, who was last capped in the 2023 Six Nations.
