  • Laura L. July 15, 2022, 8:17 pm Katilin M. was my travel agent!! She did such a great job planning my husbands 40th birthday suprise. We talked a few times over the phone and then communicated by email. She nailed it!! I decided to nail down a trip to Cancun and we stayed at Playa del Mujeres. Such a clean, safe, and FUN all inclusive resort!! If you need someone to book you a great trip…she's your girl! Katlin is a great communicator. She was very easy to reach and answered everyone of my questions in a timely and professi onal manner!! … – show 0 0 Reply

  • Matthew S. July 3, 2021, 8:17 am Our guys golf trip was perfect. Everything at La Costa was amazing from the golf to the restaurants. We had an absolutely EPIC steak at Bob's steakhouse and relaxing by the adult pool was exactly what we needed. Everything was arranged by Samy in advance which took all the worry and hassle off our trip. Thank you Samy for all your help and we look forward to working with you again! 0 0 Reply
  • Katana D. May 20, 2021, 4:30 am Reading the positive reviews I thought I would have one but I was wrong. I inquired online and the first agent I had started good but ended up being horrible. Her response time was awful and I was not getting what I was looking for. I tried again with another agent, she started out better but then the lack of response came in…I guess they have a 3—5 day window to respond to emails after you send multiple emails begging for a response! I’m NOT PLEASED AT ALL WITH THIS COMPANY AND DO NOT RECOMM END. I have a trip planned and this company has made it the most horrible experience ever. I will never use them or recommend to anyone I know. … – show 0 0 Reply

Tripsy makes your travel planning smarter, but could do with more features

For app friday, we review tripsy, a travel planning app that lets you pin locations you want to visit and organise all your travel vouchers in one place. available only on ios, tripsy is basically google maps on steroids..

Friday October 14, 2022 , 6 min Read

If you’ve ever daydreamed of quitting everything, selling your possessions off, and “On The Road-ing” the remainder of your life, you’ve probably spent hours, if not the entire day, doomscrolling on travelgram (Instagram’s travel feed), or binge-watching videos on YouTube.

I’ve done that, several times (often at the cost of my mental well-being), and one of the things you tend to do when you can’t dream of anything but eating jiggly cheesecakes in Osaka, catching a beautiful sunset against the Roman Colosseum, or getting coffee from that one cafe in Paris that Walt Whitman loved frequenting is noting down the names of cafes, museums, interesting streets, and famous landmarks you hope to one day visit.

Now, if you do note these places down, it’s probably in your phone’s notepad app, or—if you’re like me and thousand others—you ‘star’ or ‘save’ those places on Google Maps. For the longest time, Google Maps was my favourite app when it came to either pinning places I’d love to visit someday in the future, or even places I wanted to visit when travelling.

Then, last year, I stumbled across an app called Tripsy , and it changed the way I organise my travel or save sites and landmarks I want to visit in the future.

Tripsy has 4.7 out of 5-star ratings on the App Store, which is the only platform it’s available on. Alternatives on the Google Play Store include Wanderlog, TripIt, and Lambus, which almost has a Tripsy-like interface.

The free version of the app lets you do pretty much everything you’d expect from a travel planning app. The paid version gives you access to readymade itineraries that you can then customise to your liking. But if you’re a DIY traveller, the free version is more than sufficient.

What the app does

In terms of travel planning, think of Tripsy as Google Maps on steroids.

The app lets you bookmark all the places that you’d want or need to visit when you’re travelling, such as cafes, restaurants, museums, bars, events, shopping locales, theatres, train/bus/ferry stations, car rental kiosks, and fitness centres, among others. It lets you plan your Google Maps more efficiently.

The ‘map view’ option shows you everything you’ve bookmarked, that too as per the category it belongs to.

Now, these locations you bookmark can either be for a wishlist country or city that you might want to visit in the future or a place you’re actually travelling to.

If your travel is confirmed, you can store your flight tickets, hotel confirmation vouchers, pre-purchased museum/tourist site visit receipts, etc., in organised folders on the app so all your information is quickly accessible. Tripsy can also pull these bookings up from your inbox if you give it permission, or you can simply forward these emails to your personal Tripsy inbox.

[App Friday] From Japan’s Manga to Rothkos and Rodins of the world, Google Arts & Culture lets you get up, close, and personal with art

If you have any time-bound activities to do, such as visiting a particular restaurant that perhaps closes early, or a walking tour that starts at 11 am, you can set it up directly on the app, and ask it to alert you an hour or two ahead of time.

To get started, you click on the plus sign on the top right corner, enter the trip name, dates (in case you don’t have confirmed dates, the app puts ‘someday’ in the field automatically), and the time zone you’re likely to be in when you travel. From there, you land on your main trip overview page where you can start mapping out your trip.

The free version allows you to create only five trip itineraries.

One of the standout features of the app is its easy compatibility with third-party apps, especially Google Maps. If you want to mark or note a place down to visit, you don’t even have to open the Tripsy app—you can simply ‘pin’ any location on your normal Google Maps, and then ask it to share that data with Tripsy (the app has a handy tutorial that will guide you through this process).

If you don’t want to keep opening Tripsy, or are more comfortable with Google or even Apple Maps, but still want the superior categorisation capabilities of Tripsy, you can directly use the platforms and then ‘share’ the information with Tripsy.

You can also add friends and family to each ‘trip’ you create, and give them access to add or remove items from your itinerary—but this feature is only available with the premium membership.

Tripsy is everything you’d want in a travel app.

The map categorisation feature is extremely useful and has helped me plan more efficiently. If you’re in a particular area in a city, like Shibuya in Tokyo, for instance, firing up the Tripsy map gives you a quick overview of what you plan to do in the area, like shopping, visiting museums, or catching a bite at a famous restaurant.

The travel document feature is super handy, especially when you’re on the move and need quick access to your booking information. And when you’re back home, that travel document folder serves as a nostalgic travel log of sorts.

Tripsy

[App Fridays] Finish a whole book in 15 minutes with this speed-reading app for bestsellers

Pinning interesting locations, cafes, hotels etc., I want to visit has often helped me pick my next travel destination—my rule is if I have more than 30 pins in a country, (and the flight tickets are affordable), it’s where I’m going next.

There are a few things the app can do better though.

I wish Tripsy actively recommended places to add when you’re first starting to put an itinerary together, at least famous, must-visit landmarks like the Eiffel Tower or the Learning Tower of Pisa. Auto-populating these landmarks on the app would’ve saved a lot of time.

The map inside the app doesn’t pull up locations properly at all when you’re trying to look up new ones. Even well-frequented travel landmarks such as the Lotte World Tower in Seoul or Sensoji temple in Tokyo did not pull up on the in-app map, which was really frustrating until I found the workaround, which is pinning these locations via Google Maps. The app needs to sort its maps out, especially considering it is the app’s most basic, yet most important offering.

Budget and expense tracking is an important feature that’s missing from the app. Tripsy’s competitor, Wanderlog, offers this, and, in fact, goes about it in a really smart way too.

Additional features such as ‘open hours’ for pinned locations, the ability to click pictures and store them inside the app so it becomes a travel log of sorts, and generally seeing more information about pinned places would’ve been handy and provided an even more premium experience.

To be honest, if Google Maps ever rolls out a hyper-categorisation feature where you can bookmark and categorise locations based on what they are (such as a restaurant, cafe, museum, shop, etc), without having to do it on Google MyMaps, I’d happily give this a miss.

But, until that happens, Tripsy is going to remain on my phone.

tripsy travel agency reviews

Summer may be over, but there’s never really an offseason for planning future vacations or business trips. We all have our own methods of trip planning – where we store important documents, how to set an agenda and share that agenda with family or friends – but I’d guess most of us aren’t entirely satisfied with our current planning systems. Important information can be scattered across different apps, services, or analog files, which is fine but not ideal. Tripsy aims to solve that problem.

Tripsy isn’t entirely new to the App Store, having first launched almost a year ago, but it recently received a major 2.0 update alongside iOS 13’s debut. While I never used the previous version, the new Tripsy is exactly the tool I’ve wanted for trip planning for a long time. The app serves as a one-stop shop for organizing all of your trip-related information: you can add Apple Maps points of interest to your agenda, scheduling them to specific times and days, add notes to each saved location, store important travel documents in the app, and share your full trip data with fellow travelers. All of this functionality is enhanced by a strong app experience thanks to system features like multiwindow on iPad, Sign In with Apple, dark mode, and more.

Planning a Trip

tripsy travel agency reviews

Tripsy offers a selection of destination suggestions you can choose from to kickstart your planning, all of which include lists of popular things to do in those cities, but if you’re going anywhere else in the world outside the 11 included suggestions, you’ll want to get started by hitting the orange ‘+’ button to create your new trip. Tripsy will ask for the trip name and dates, and two helpful additional options: time zone and background image.

Selecting a time zone eliminates a point of potential confusion when arranging your itinerary. On the last trip I took, I had added events for my agenda to Apple’s Calendar app, but dealing with changing time zones was a point of frustration for me, so I’m looking forward to using Tripsy in the future. The ability to add a background image is a small touch, but one I appreciate: when planning a trip, it’s nice being able to see an image of your destination in the background. Tripsy integrates with Unsplash so you can choose from an extensive selection of beautiful stock photos to adorn your trip’s background.

After a new trip is created, you can get to work filling out its agenda. Tapping ‘Add new’ at the bottom of the screen loads a grid of different activity options, including Flight, Lodging, Restaurant, Museum, and more. Each activity type is accompanied by a colorful icon reminiscent of what you’d find in Apple Maps, which is fitting because Tripsy includes tight integration with Maps. Once you’ve chosen an activity type, you’ll enter a search screen where you can search for any point of interest from Apple Maps (or enter a location manually).

Creating an itinerary for your trip.

Creating an itinerary for your trip.

When you’ve found the right location, Tripsy will import its phone number and web address automatically, so they’ll be easily accessible throughout your trip. You’ll be asked to choose a start time (and optionally end time), which includes a lot of flexibility: after picking a day, you can either leave it at that or go more granular with a couple different options, either selecting a simple Morning, Afternoon, or Night designation, or choosing a specific hour for that activity to take place. I really appreciate the variety of options, as it enables being as loose or precise with your plans as you’d like. Finally, when adding a location to your itinerary there’s a Notes field you can fill out as well for jotting down any information you want to remember, or communicate with co-travelers.

Preparing for Your Trip

Documents can be saved in Tripsy.

Documents can be saved in Tripsy.

Once you have an agenda set, there are two features to take advantage of in the time leading up to your travels: sharing and document storage.

Tripsy can share your full trip agenda with any family members or friends who will be accompanying you on your travels. The person icon in the top-right corner of the main trip overview sends a link that enables fellow travelers to not only see your plans, but fully collaborate on them too. Guests you invite can add or modify events, add notes, and do anything else you can do inside the app.

Document storage is a useful way to keep any and all travel-related data in one place. Inside a trip’s Documents screen you’ll find options to import a document from the Files app, or an image from Photos, in addition to taking a photo or creating a new note. This becomes all the more useful when collaborating on a trip with several co-travelers, who can all dump relevant files in one place.

Taking Your Trip

tripsy travel agency reviews

When the time for travel finally arrives, I love the itinerary view that Tripsy provides for fully-outlined trips. The combination of colorful icons, subtle time of day glyphs, and clean, crisp text fits beautifully together. When you’re exploring the city, referencing your itinerary in Tripsy is extremely convenient and offers quick access to any information you’d want. Tapping on a saved event shows you key information like date, duration, phone number, and website, along with a note if you set one, and a map view which you can tap to navigate to the location with Apple Maps, Google Maps, Citymapper, Uber, or Lyft. You can even long-press on an event to see a context menu and preview of all this information.

System Features

Tripsy’s basic functionality makes it well worth trying out, but the app is particularly special due to its strong adoption of system features on iPhone and iPad.

tripsy travel agency reviews

On the iPad, Tripsy not only supports Split View and Slide Over multitasking, it also offers full multiwindow capabilities on iPadOS. If you’d like to keep your trip overview in a full-screen window while a Slide Over window hovers on top with a specific location page, or your itinerary view, that’s entirely possible using multiple windows. Or if you want to pair Tripsy with Apple Maps in a Split View or Slide Over pair, you can use drag and drop to save locations from Maps directly into your trip’s itinerary. Simply pick up a Maps point of interest and drop it into Tripsy; I’ve found this particularly effective when exploring new locations I may want to visit.

tripsy travel agency reviews

Dark mode in iOS 13 is fully supported by Tripsy, so the app will change themes based on your device’s current system appearance setting. Both light and dark modes look sharp.

Sign In with Apple

tripsy travel agency reviews

When turning on sync in Tripsy, the app will prompt you to create an account. You can do this the traditional way, with an email and password, or you can use Sign In with Apple to set up your account with just a couple taps. Tripsy’s implementation of Sign In with Apple is the first I’ve seen offer the ability to have your real email hidden and cause all communication to forward through an Apple-generated random address. I ran into a bug when trying to use that option, which likely is an Apple issue, but it was nice to see it included nonetheless.

Apple Watch

tripsy travel agency reviews

Tripsy offers a solid Apple Watch app that grants convenient access to your trip itinerary, so you can easily scroll through the day’s agenda and tap on events to get more information about them. There’s even the ability to tap on map thumbnails in Tripsy’s watchOS app to load those destinations in the Watch’s Maps app.

The app’s design implements modal cards extremely well, similar to what you’ll find in Apple’s own Maps and Shortcuts apps. It helps Tripsy feel especially native, and is ideal for one-handed iPhone use.

Siri Shortcuts and Suggestions

Finally, Tripsy also offers a few options for Siri shortcuts you can set up, including most notably the ability to get information about your next scheduled activity, and to view all upcoming plans for your trip. There’s one other Siri feature too: when you add hotel or flight information to your trip, Siri intelligence will detect that and offer to add the details to the Calendar app, similar to the intelligent suggestions Siri offers for content located in Mail.

Tripsy does what I’ve long wished for: offers a compelling trip planning experience in a modern app that takes advantage of iOS’ core technology strengths. Even if you set aside the app’s core functionality as a hub for trips, it deserves applause simply for its rich integration of so many modern OS technologies. I don’t travel more than two or three times per year, so I’d probably be fine sticking with my former system of using Apple Notes to organize trip details, but Tripsy’s OS strengths make it an app I’m eager to invest in because I know it won’t require sacrificing the array of system benefits Notes offers – Tripsy has just as many system integrations, if not more.

The next time I travel, I know which app I’m going to use.

Tripsy is a free download on the App Store , with an optional Premium subscription plan to unlock features like cloud sync, document storage, and more.

Tripsy 2.9: Trips without date, better search and more!

Dreaming about a trip destination it's a thing for years. Experience new cultures, new locations, different foods, extraordinary museums, or even some fantastic adventures on the nature of a near city.

That's why we are now releasing the possibility of having trips without a date. We will explain everything in this post.

Types of trip

tripsy travel agency reviews

We now have three ways to create a trip: with dates (like the usual), with only a number of days, and with no days/dates at all. You can switch between these types at any time.

We will show them in your timeline inside the "Future trip" section when the trip doesn't have any dates.

Trips with dates

tripsy travel agency reviews

There's now a beautiful calendar for you to set the start and end dates of your trip. It's easier to see how many days there is, and much better to see the days of the week that each day refers to.

Trips with number of days

tripsy travel agency reviews

Sometimes we would like to plan an itinerary, but we don't know exactly when we are going. So imagine you're planning to go to the beach for a weekend, but don't know yet when. You can create a trip with 2 or 3 days of planning, set up the entire itinerary, and update this information when you have the dates.

The itinerary will be maintained, and all activities will be adjusted based on the day of your trip. 😇

Trips without dates or number of days

This one is straightforward. There is no itinerary at all. You can start collecting places you want to visit, storing documents, notes and share with others. When you are ready to begin your trip, you can change the dates and move each activity to each day as you want. 😄

Better search results

We have made several improvements to our search engine, and now we are finding even more accurate results. You can also search using expressions, such as "pizza near Eiffel tower."

We hope you enjoy this update as much as we did!

Safe travels! 🧡
