We have a number of travel themed home decor items in our home including rugs, coffee mugs, blankets, wall art, photo frames, shower curtains, towels, and decorative globes.

We’ve put together a list of over 75 travel themed home decor in this article for those looking for a way to express their own love for travel, searching for a gift for a traveler, or just looking for inspiration about what types of travel themed home furnishings are out there.

I love travel themed items and have previously written posts on some of my favorite handmade travel themed wedding products and travel themed jewelry . I love globes, vintage maps, vacation photos, old postcards, etc. and love when I find items that incorporate travel themed elements into useful home decorations and furnishings. So we decided to put together another list on some great handmade travel themed home decor items.

These include pieces for all parts of the home from the office to the bedrooms and include everything from fridge magnets and lampshades to wall art and shower curtains. The items were also chosen to fit a wide range of decorating tastes and budgets with most items ranging in the USD $20 to $150 range.

Just so you know, many of the home decor items on this list we physically reviewed. Some were items we purchased or received as gifts, and others were given to us by artists for review. The other pieces are just ones I loved when searching for travel themed home furnishings online.

The majority of the items on our list are handmade or hand customized items, made by a single artist, family, or a small business. We love supporting these great individual artists and small businesses.

One of the things I love most about shopping for items on Etsy is that most artists can do personalized or custom items. Many of these items on this list are truly unique and many of them can be personalized for you.

We strove to include travel home decor pieces from around the world and items came from a number of places in North America, Europe, Australia, Africa, and Asia. However, the majority are from artists in the United States and United Kingdom.

Many people spend a lot of time in the living room or lounge in their home, and it is often the place where you gather with family and friends. It is a great room to display your love of travel, whether it is through displaying your favorite travel photos, throw pillows, blankets, candles, or coasters.

Custom Travel Photo Blanket

These custom photo throw blankets are perfect for displaying your favorite travel memories. The blankets come in a variety of polyester fabrics, including fleece and woven styles. You can use one photo or use several photos to create a collage. Photos are sublimated into the fabric (rather than screen printed) to help prevent fading, cracking, and peeling.

Travel Photo Throw Pillows

Custom Country Heart Pillow

Why not use these pillows to give a rustic look to your home and show off the places that you love.  This b urlap fabric pillowcase comes with cotton lining and an envelop closure. The pillowcase is hand embroidered with a country outline of your choice and heart in the location of the city of your choice.

MOVA Solar-Powered Globes

I am in love with the solar-powered globes from MOVA . We first spotted them spinning in a window display in a shop in Venice, Italy. We assumed they were spinning because of their base so were surprised when the shopkeeper put them in our hands and they kept spinning!

The globes spin on their own using solar power and magnets so they don’t need to be plugged in and there are no batteries to be changed. They just need light, either indirect light from the sun or indoor lights. They can also be put onto about any base.

In addition to world maps, they also sell ones depicting planets, the moon, artwork, and sports teams. They come in a variety of color schemes with several base options.

Travel Themed Coasters

Travel themed map stone coasters are a great way to add a bit of travel decor to any room. We especially love that these can all be personalized or customized as much as you want. The map design is decoupaged to the stone tile and treated with commercial grade paver sealant on both front and back, and felt backing is applied to the bottom of the coasters.

We have a  set of these personalized coasters that include the places where we met, our first road trip, where we got engaged, where we got married, and our first home together!

Custom Travel Slide Lamp Shade

Can you imagine turning your family slides into a gorgeous decoration for your home? That’s exactly what the team at BlinkLab are doing, with their magnificent lamp shades . A great conversation piece and a perfect way to repurpose all those family slides.

Each shade requires 64 standard cardboard mounted photography slides which are affixed together to form the round lampshade. Then a diffusion material is attached to the interior of the shade which gives the slides a beautiful glow and a crystal clear view of the images.

Keep your keepsakes, travel documents, or valuables in this hollow secret safe book that will hide in plain sight on your bookshelf. Travel Themed Stationary

If you want to bring a smile to someone’s face, send them a letter in one of these atlas envelopes . These u pcycled atlas map pages have been handcrafted into letter-sized envelopes. They measure at 9 1/2″ X 4″ although a variety of sizes and recycles papers are available and you can also request custom orders.

We love that these are so well-made and are also making good use of discarded atlases and maps. I still write letters to my grandmother and these travel themed envelopes make it more fun to send a letter. Jennifer has some great products in her store, Paperette Shoppe .

Antique Style Map Pencil & Pen Holder

Wanderlust Ring Bowl

This little bicycle dish is really cute. This handmade bowl is made of white earthenware clay. The letters and design were stamped with dark brown ink – this one has a bicycle design on outside and word “Wanderlust” along the inner rim. The bowls are fired and covered with a lead free, clear glossy glaze and they can be customized with various colors and larger sizes are available. 

It is a great place to store my travel-themed jewelry pieces, particularly our world map wedding rings whenever we need to remove them.

The designs are stamped on and then the dish is fired, glazed, and then fired again. The pictured dishes have the Eiffel Tower and Je t’aime (“I love you” in French) designs, but there are a number of different dishes available in a variety of colors, designs, and shapes.

Travel Themed Wall Decals 

Each vintage travel stamp  decal is made of high quality self-adhesive matte-finish vinyl. They are also available in a number of colors and sizes, and decals can be customized. They can be applied to many types of clean, flat (or lightly textured), and dry surfaces such as walls, doors, windows, mirrors, wood, and plexiglass. 

We applied these to our bedroom wall in our last bedroom, and enjoyed seeing them every morning when we woke up. We applied these carefully and slowly following the included directions and had no problem. We were also able to remove them a few years later when we moved with no issue.

Personalized Framed Vacation Maps

Want to remember an epic vacation, road trip, service tour, marathon, or other event? At Passport Maps , you can have a personalized map of just about any vacation, location, or route. A few years ago Scott designed a map of a train trip we took from Istanbul, Turkey to Pisa, Italy and we loved how much Scott was able to incorporate our specific route locations, text, and several of our travel photos into the design. Scratch Off Travel Map

This is a great scratch off map and a fun way to show where you have traveled in the world. It can also help you decide on your next vacation destination. The map is printed on high quality paper then covered with a gold foil layer. It shows over 10,000 cities and places and the package also includes a dust cloth, push pins, and metal scraper. The map measures 34.6 inches X 23.6 inches (88 X 60 cm).

We have this map and it is very detailed for its size and it was easy to scratch off the gold foil level. Individual U.S. states, Canadian provinces, and regions of large countries can also be distinguished so you can scratch off certain areas rather than the entire country.

I love traveling as much as I love handmade products! So whenever I travel, I make sure that I get to purchase handcrafts especially those made by local community artisans. There is just one time, I went to Chiang Mai in Thailand, I never had the chance to actually buy my souvenir, but thankfully I found a store called localbazaar who sells handmade crafts from Chiang Mai!

I’ve always wanted to travel the world as a kid my dream job was to be a doctor overseas. I’m a bit sad that I’ve never ventured outside of the United States. My favorite is definitely the book safe! I’ve always wanted a hollow book. My mandatory entry I hit too soon it was 17, 15, and 7. Hope I can still be entered.

This post is so much fun!!! We actually own 2 of these… the map pin boards (which we got one year for our girls) and the scratch off map (which my daughter got for my husband). We always had fun moving the pin to our “next planned destination.” My husband loves maps, and these are terrific gifts. I recently received coasters from a friend that have outlines of areas in the city where we both used to live. I loved it… these are perfect gifts for the traveler in your life!

Most everyone has souvenirs from their travels, whether it’s shells from the beach, novelty T-shirts, or even just plenty of photos. Luckily, there are plenty of both subtle and bold ways to incorporate your love for travel into your home.

Hanging photos is simple, but you can also turn them into a statement by creating a gallery wall or even unique wallpaper. Or use photos of places you dream of going, maps, or subway routes for more graphic, abstract art. Small touches can also add elements of travel to your home. Vintage suitcases come in many colors and can be displayed to add extra storage or serve as an end table. Unusual materials.

Materials beyond classic construction paper and markers can inspire creative and beautiful decorations! Consider watercolor paint, string, journal paper, and glitter.

Better yet, use free or recycled materials — like paint chips from home improvement stores, aluminum or plastic from soft drink cans, pages from alumni magazines, or leftover pizza boxes.

Customization

Door decs can already help students to feel at home, but imagine how much better it can be if they get to be part of the creative process. Students can put a finishing touch on their decs or even be encouraged to be in touch with their RA well before they move in. 

When your RAs communicates with their future residents over the summer and collect preferred names and pronouns , they can also get info to include on their decorations: Like the residents’ favorite quote, national park, animal, and more.

Your RAs can even host a welcome event that includes set time for residents to add bling to their door decs.

You can also give students the chance to share a picture that’s meaningful to them — perhaps of themselves, a role model, or a favorite vacation spot.

“Where am I?”

A lot of RAs have a spinny wheel on their door, which they update to inform residents of their whereabouts.

But how about making these for roommates to know whether or not the room is free? Thanks to these door decs, RAs can work proactively to make communal living easier for everyone.

Professional Touches

If residents’ doors face the outdoors, adding a layer of protection is essential for keeping decorations beautiful despite the rain and sun. 

You should consider laminating, especially if your door decs are highly detailed or are made out of thinner materials. This will make the door decoration more durable and gives students the option to hold onto their dec after the year is up. 

You might consider investing in a laminator for your res life department. Or check in with the student activities office or the library; there might be one you could borrow.

Invest in a cutting machine

Make your decs like a pro by using a tool that cuts  shapes out perfectly . This will make it easier to make more intricate.

With a little training, your RAs will be using this in no time. They simply download computer software, select a shape online, and the machine cuts them out. All RAs have to do is punch out the shape!

16 Stylish Front Door Decor Ideas for Every Season

If your existing entrance is lacking wow factor, it’s time to think up new front door decor ideas. There are so many innovative, DIY-friendly ways to jazz up your exterior door (and the surrounding front stoop). An ornate wreath, hanging flower baskets, mosaic house numbers, and a gorgeous door knocker are all ways to enhance your home’s curb appeal and lift your spirits in a major way after a long day. “Never underestimate the power of a great front door—it sets the tone and is such a warm welcome for holiday guests coming over this time of year,” says Austin-based Camille Styles, founder of Casa Zuma and Camillestyles.com . “Plus I get so much joy from seeing my own decked out front porch whenever I pull in the driveway!” 

Our advice: Why not switch up your door design every time a new season rolls around? Below are 16 of the best front door decor ideas you can replicate as you get ready for winter, spring, summer, and fall. 

Winter front door decor ideas

A fir wreath and other evergreens look timeless against the backdrop that is the black front door.

Fresh evergreen looks even more beautiful against a sharp black door. A garland and seasonal plants can turn a stark doorway into a jolly one in no time. Whether you opt for fresh greenery or go the faux route is up to you. For a crafty take, DIY a nontraditional wreath with dried citrus or succulents, if you live in a warmer climate.

Crimson touches of stained glass shine on Christmas. 

Even if a Frank Lloyd Wright home is out of reach, you can channel his aesthetic with a stained glass installation. Flecks of red are especially delightful come winter, when the shade can be supplemented with holiday decorations and, ideally, a bit of fresh snow.

Baubles and ornaments dress up the front door in the most festive way.

Ornaments certainly aren’t just for indoor use. Consider adhering them to your wreath and garland for some added shimmer. White glitter sprinkled pinecones add a bit more texture and dimension. This DIY only asks for a bit of twine to secure the decorations. Look for green twine so it can camouflage itself among the evergreens.

A bespoke front door can make a serious impact, not to mention start a conversation about its origins. You can also employ some crafting techniques from DIY door tutorials like adding molding patterns. Wood scraps, for one, can add some texture to a standard front door, which you can paint. A bold red door is always a favorite and pairs nicely with poinsettias during the holiday season.

Spring front door decor ideas

A wisteria canopy gives this simple doorway charm.

It’s impossible not to love wisteria come springtime. Plant yours so that it will snake above the doorway for an English cottage-inspired vibe. Cultivating flowerbeds with irises and other lilac blooms will create an enchanting visage. Keep the actual front door simple to let the greenery shine.

Petunias add a pop of color to the front door.

Hanging baskets are probably the easiest way to transform the look of your front door. Keep the paint color neutral, perhaps a mossy green, and frame it with seasonal blooms. The ever-changing display will always feel fresh. Look for voluminous flowers like begonia, lantana, and petunia that tend to trail down for added charm.

Those who absolutely love their door color can draw inspiration each season. A lilac door looks even more stunning in the springtime if you add sprinkles of the hue to a wreath by weaving in ornamental grasses into the design. 

A baby blue front door contrasts beautifully against a bevy of bright blooms. 

Paint your door in a sweet pastel hue. For inspiration, look to Charleston’s Rainbow Row or San Francisco’s Painted Ladies; these photogenic homes incorporate some delightful colors that will always be in vogue.

Summer front door decor ideas

Colorful mosaic numbers are one of a kind.

DIY your own address numbers, taking a cue from this vibrant mosaic creation. Start with your existing address numbers—or order some larger ones if needed—and embrace your artsy side during the warm summer months. (Get the kids involved, too, in this summer camp craft .) This no-fail project is a cinch to complete as the individual glass and ceramic pieces are placed randomly. It’s also perfect for repurposing cracked pottery. 

Don’t blame us if guests keep on knocking with this darling pineapple.

Upgrade a door knocker with a whimsical alternative that will make you—and your visitors—smile every time they approach your front stoop. Bees , pineapples , and other summery symbols are popular choices and will remain full of cheer even as the weather turns cooler.

A basket for a bountiful front door. 

Source a basket that speaks to you—perhaps while browsing your favorite vintage store or flea market—then adhere it to the front door using a nail. No matter the time of year, you can use it to display seasonal florals or branches. In the summer, you can shop your own garden for fresh blooms.

Flank the front door with greenery. 

Keep your front door untouched but form a plant wall on either side with the help of a small army of hanging baskets attached to several shepherds hooks or a frame wrapped in chicken wire. As plants grow larger, the baskets will camouflage behind all of the greenery and result in a wall-like appearance. Look for vining and bushy plants like pothos and ferns.

Designer Marie Flanigan shows that gray is never boring, especially when paired with artisanal accoutrements from Rocky Mountain Hardware . 

If your exterior door is a moody blue, black, or gray, opt for a red berry wreath to add a pop of color as a front door decor idea. A piece like this one will also transition nicely into the winter months; simply swap the pumpkins for a few potted evergreens.

Frosted glass is both for privacy and fashion.

Look to the falling foliage as inspiration for decorative privacy film designs . A delicate leaf motif elevates the frosted glass and plays into the natural overhang framing the doorway, which can be easily put together as you rake up the leaves. Simply pluck the ombre beauties and tuck them into a wicker arch or perhaps the existing root system that frames your doorway. 

Chic architectural design stands out when the double door is painted a light hue, like sage.

This stately front door decor idea may take a bit more execution, but double doors with thoughtful architectural detailing add to a home’s interest. To bring attention to the beauty, frame the door and the front stoop with a collection of mums in baskets and pumpkins of various sizes and colors, and they eye will follow right up to the front door.

Don't get me wrong, I love a gorgeous fall wreath . But sometimes it's nice to take a break from the norm and try something new. So this year, I've decided to swap out my usual grapevine wreath for a front door decoration that's equally as beautiful but totally unexpected. Who knew there were so many gorgeous non-wreath options out there? Check out a few of my faves below.

Do people decorate their cabin doors on cruises.

The simple answer to this question is that some people do and some don’t.  I have been on several cruises and have seen both extremes.  My latest cruise was virtually devoid of door decorations.  I believe my door decoration and that of my travel companion were some of the only ones on the entire ship.  But even though there weren’t many decorations, we did hear plenty of feedback from passersby.  I was especially delighted to hear one small boy declare, “Hello, Sea Turtle!” and “Hello, dolphin!” each time he passed our doors.

Why Do People Decorate Cruise Ship Doors?

If decorating your door is a new idea, you may naturally wonder why you would want to go to the trouble of decorating a cruise door.  I mean, isn’t it kind of like a hotel door?  The simple answer is yes.  Your stateroom door will look much like a hotel door.  It will be pretty plain and have your room number on it.  But that’s the perfect place to start!  Here are some great reasons to consider personalizing your door while cruising!

Reason 1 – It Helps You Find Your Door

Experienced cruisers know that your room on the ship will be one of many in a long corridor of identical stateroom doors.  These corridors run down both sides of the ship.  Picture a hotel hallway as long as a football field.  All the doors look precisely alike except for their room number.  When you are coming from one end of the ship to the other, a decorated door will help you pick your room out quickly and easily.

I love when others decorate their doors because it doesn’t take long to recognize other door decorations to know where you are on the ship and if you’re close to your room.  I remember turning the wrong way off the elevator on a cruise and walking down the entire corridor before seeing several unfamiliar door decorations and realizing I was in the “wrong neighborhood.”

2 – To Make Your Cabin Feel Homey

At the end of a long day on shore, you’ll be ready to find your room.  When you’re cruising, your room is your home base, and nothing feels better than the familiarity of your space when you’re tired and ready to refresh.  A welcoming door with a familiar picture or sign is delightful and feels homey!

3 – To Celebrate a Special Occasion

Many people cruise as a celebration.  Think about honeymoons, anniversaries, notable birthdays, promotions, or family reunions.  These reasons all make great ideas for decorating your door and sharing that reason with the entire ship by decorating your entry for the occasion!  Maybe you’re taking an annual sisters’ vacation.  Let everyone know!

As you make your way around your ship, you will see any number of achievements plastered on doors.  Go ahead and acknowledge those exciting occasions.  When you’re on the ship, everyone is family!

4 – To Communicate with Other Passengers

You may want to communicate with others while on your trip.  If you’re traveling with other couples or enjoying a group cruise, you can use your door to announce where you are so they can come to find you.  Sure, you can text, but where’s the fun in that?  Not to mention, some cell services don’t work when you’re on a ship in the middle of an ocean, so this is a great way to communicate without the stress!

Beware the Upside-Down Pineapple!

I feel inclined to discuss one specific kind of door communication here.  I was shocked when I heard about this, but hey – cruise ships are great for people with all sorts of interesting pastimes, so there’s room for everyone.  With that being said, let’s discuss pineapples.  Yes.  Pineapples.  It’s a good idea to be aware of the pineapple.

5 – It is Fun!

Cruising is fun!  And decorating your door is fun!  And looking at other doors around the ship to see what others celebrate or enjoy is also fun!  So why wouldn’t you want to decorate your door?  Part of the fun of planning my next cruise is planning my stateroom door decorations.

What are the Rules for Decorating My Cruise Ship Door?

Now we’ve established that decorating your door is fun and valuable.  So let’s talk about the rules you need to follow when decorating.  Most cruise lines share some basic rules, but you’ll want to double-check your cruise line if you plan to do any decorating outside of these general rules.

• Please do not use decorations that leave marks or cause damage to the door.  You may get a fine if you leave damage or a permanent mark.
• Please do not use curse words, offensive images, or vulgar language.  Remember that not everyone shares the same sense of humor.  This rule is essential if you’re on a family-friendly cruise ship.  And most cruise ships have families aboard.
• Please contain your cruise cabin door decorations on the actual door.  Don’t use large, 3-dimensional objects that stick out.  Cruise ship corridors are narrow and must have room for housekeeping carts and fellow passengers walking by.

Here are a few additional rules that apply to specific cruise lines.

Carnival Cruise Line

Carnival cruise fans should know that Carnival requires all door decorations are made of fire-retardant materials.  In addition, no scotch tape (or any tape) or glue, only Command strips  or magnets .    You can read their full rules here . 

Disney Cruise Line

Disney asks that you use magnets rather than adhesives, including gel adhesives on Disney stateroom doors.  You will receive a $100 fine if you leave any damage.  You can read their full rules about Disney cruise door magnets here . 

Royal Caribbean Cruise Lin

I enjoyed the two Royal Caribbean cruises where I saw the most door decorations.  Passengers go out of their way to share their fun ideas in some Royal Caribbean Facebook Groups.  Royal Caribbean is very family-friendly, so it makes perfect sense!  Royal Caribbean even sells room décor kids on their online gift shop ! 

Princess Cruise Line

Like Royal Caribbean, Princess Cruises also allow door decorations and sell room décor packages in their online gift shop . 

Norwegian Cruise Line

Norwegian Cruise Line does not allow door decorations, so if you have your heart set on glamming up your door, you may need to consider a different cruise line.  The cruise line states that door decorations are not allowed for safety reasons, and your cabin steward will remove your door decorations and leave them in your room.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will magnets stick to cruise ship doors.

Many cruise ship doors are made of metal and are perfect for magnets.  However, some cabins have wooden doors, which is often the case with suites, concierge staterooms, or “more expensive” rooms.  If unsure, pack some Command poster hanging strips to affix your décor.  They take up very little space, so you’ll be glad to have them if you end up with a non-metal door. What is a Fish Extender?

Disney cruises have coined the term “Fish Extender” for a little bit of extra magic aboard their cruise ships, and it’s all part of the fun of Disney cruise door decorations.  A Fish Extender, or FE, is a set of pockets that cruisers hang on their stateroom door.  Cruisers personalize each pouch with the names of family members or the family name.  Before the cruise, cruisers connect with others who will be on the same voyage via message boards or a Facebook Group for your ship and date, and enter drawings and arrange swaps of fun, small gifts throughout the week of the cruise with your fellow cruisers.

You’ll love this added magic if this is your first Disney cruise.  As if a cruise isn’t magical enough, add some Disney and some fun little goodies and gifts, and you’ll not only go home with a bonus memory or two but participating in the Fish Extender program is a fun way to make a few new friends, too!

Wrapping it All Up

When you travel on a cruise ship, you are in for a great time!  Decorating your door is just part of the fun and allows you to get into the cruise spirit!  You can make your decorations for your door, or lucky you – I’ve made some free printable door decorations to get you started!

Once you download your free printable door decorations, you can print your favorites on card stock and use Command poster strips  or magnets . to adhere to your door.  Another option is to use printable magnet paper .  If you’d like your door decorations to last for multiple trips, consider laminating them .    Once laminated, you can write on them with a dry-erase marker , too! 

Next cruise you take, you’ll be ready to personalize your door and stand out from the crowd!

Savvino-storozhevsky monastery and museum.

Zvenigorod's most famous sight is the Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery, which was founded in 1398 by the monk Savva from the Troitse-Sergieva Lavra, at the invitation and with the support of Prince Yury Dmitrievich of Zvenigorod. Savva was later canonised as St Sabbas (Savva) of Storozhev. The monastery late flourished under the reign of Tsar Alexis, who chose the monastery as his family church and often went on pilgrimage there and made lots of donations to it. Most of the monastery’s buildings date from this time. The monastery is heavily fortified with thick walls and six towers, the most impressive of which is the Krasny Tower which also serves as the eastern entrance. The monastery was closed in 1918 and only reopened in 1995. In 1998 Patriarch Alexius II took part in a service to return the relics of St Sabbas to the monastery. Today the monastery has the status of a stauropegic monastery, which is second in status to a lavra. In addition to being a working monastery, it also holds the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum.

Belfry and Neighbouring Churches

Located near the main entrance is the monastery's belfry which is perhaps the calling card of the monastery due to its uniqueness. It was built in the 1650s and the St Sergius of Radonezh’s Church was opened on the middle tier in the mid-17th century, although it was originally dedicated to the Trinity. The belfry's 35-tonne Great Bladgovestny Bell fell in 1941 and was only restored and returned in 2003. Attached to the belfry is a large refectory and the Transfiguration Church, both of which were built on the orders of Tsar Alexis in the 1650s.  

To the left of the belfry is another, smaller, refectory which is attached to the Trinity Gate-Church, which was also constructed in the 1650s on the orders of Tsar Alexis who made it his own family church. The church is elaborately decorated with colourful trims and underneath the archway is a beautiful 19th century fresco.

Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is the oldest building in the monastery and among the oldest buildings in the Moscow Region. It was built between 1404 and 1405 during the lifetime of St Sabbas and using the funds of Prince Yury of Zvenigorod. The white-stone cathedral is a standard four-pillar design with a single golden dome. After the death of St Sabbas he was interred in the cathedral and a new altar dedicated to him was added.

Under the reign of Tsar Alexis the cathedral was decorated with frescoes by Stepan Ryazanets, some of which remain today. Tsar Alexis also presented the cathedral with a five-tier iconostasis, the top row of icons have been preserved.

Tsaritsa's Chambers

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is located between the Tsaritsa's Chambers of the left and the Palace of Tsar Alexis on the right. The Tsaritsa's Chambers were built in the mid-17th century for the wife of Tsar Alexey - Tsaritsa Maria Ilinichna Miloskavskaya. The design of the building is influenced by the ancient Russian architectural style. Is prettier than the Tsar's chambers opposite, being red in colour with elaborately decorated window frames and entrance.

At present the Tsaritsa's Chambers houses the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum. Among its displays is an accurate recreation of the interior of a noble lady's chambers including furniture, decorations and a decorated tiled oven, and an exhibition on the history of Zvenigorod and the monastery.

Palace of Tsar Alexis

The Palace of Tsar Alexis was built in the 1650s and is now one of the best surviving examples of non-religious architecture of that era. It was built especially for Tsar Alexis who often visited the monastery on religious pilgrimages. Its most striking feature is its pretty row of nine chimney spouts which resemble towers.

WGS 84 coordinate reference system is the latest revision of the World Geodetic System, which is used in mapping and navigation, including GPS satellite navigation system (the Global Positioning System).

Geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude) define a position on the Earth’s surface. Coordinates are angular units. The canonical form of latitude and longitude representation uses degrees (°), minutes (′), and seconds (″). GPS systems widely use coordinates in degrees and decimal minutes, or in decimal degrees.

Latitude varies from −90° to 90°. The latitude of the Equator is 0°; the latitude of the South Pole is −90°; the latitude of the North Pole is 90°. UTM or Universal Transverse Mercator coordinate system divides the Earth’s surface into 60 longitudinal zones. The coordinates of a location within each zone are defined as a planar coordinate pair related to the intersection of the equator and the zone’s central meridian, and measured in meters.
