The Lounge - the theme of this room shifts from season to season (see below)

Taskmaster House (UK)

This three-bedroom bungalow in Chiswick, West London, is a former groundskeepers’ cottage, currently owned by the adjacent Dukes Meadows Golf, Tennis and Ski facility.

Taskmaster connection

The original Taskmaster house, as featured in the UK version of Taskmaster since 2015.

The property is rented throughout the year by Avalon for production of the show (typically 21 episodes per year).

Over the years, additions have been made to the property by the production team, including a caravan (from series 4), a plastic geodesic dome (from the New Year's Treat 2021), a large decked area (from series 13), and a hutch (from series 16).

First appearance

Greg Davies and his sidekick Alex Horne will put five comedians through their paces with a series of ridiculous challenges as Taskmaster series 12 continues.

Morgana Robinson, Guz Khan, Victoria Coren Mitchell, Alan Davies and Desiree Burch are the celebrities hoping to win Greg Davies’ golden head in this series.

As fans of the long-running comedy challenge show will know, though the bulk of the show is presented in a studio format, Taskmaster also has its very own house where the comedians take part in several pre-recorded tasks.

While other filming locations are used, the Taskmaster house has become a character in its own right over the years, having featured prominently in each series.

So where is Taskmaster filmed and can you visit the show’s iconic house? Here’s everything you need to know.

Where is the Taskmaster house?

The Taskmaster house is located near Chiswick Bridge in London.

The former groundskeeper’s cottage, located in the corner of Chiswick’s Dukes Meadows golf course, has been used as the primary filming location for the Channel 4 show’s pre-recorded tasks since the very first series in 2015.

The playable area of Taskmaster’s iconic three-bedroom cottage includes a lounge (the theme of which changes each season), a lab, kitchen, hallway and entryway, where a large portrait of the Taskmaster himself hangs.

Tasks can also take place outside in the garden, garage, caravan, dome or driveway.

Can you visit the Taskmaster house?

The Taskmaster house was once available to rent for a fee of £4,117 per month.

For those wanting to catch a glimpse of the house from the roadside, you’ll find it at Chiswick Bridge, Great Chertsey Road, London, W4 3U.

During filming for the show, the production team moves into the property in order to give it a proper Taskmaster makeover.

Speaking to RadioTimes , director Andy Devonshire said: “We move in and live here for the period of filming.

“After series one I think they had some people come in and stay over the summer, but we de-Taskmaster it when we go away so it is very different.

“There’s a different theme inspired by a specific artist every series so there’s obviously things that stay the same but we redecorate within the boundaries of that. When we leave it’s quite minimalist.”

Taskmaster airs on Thursdays on Channel 4 at 9pm

Taskmaster is back for another brilliant series that has already left fans in stitches.

Overseen by Greg Davies and sidekick Alex Horne, the duo have been joined by the likes of This Country ’s Daisy May Cooper , Johnny Vegas, Katherine Parkinson, Mawaan Rizwan and Richard Herring – who have already completed a number of seriously wild challenges.

But while captivated by what the celebs are being asked to do, viewers at home have been left wondering where the show’s iconic house is.

And it turns out the filming location is set in London ’s leafy district of Chiswick.

That’s right, the property is close to Chiswick Bridge and, according to Radio Times , the former ground keeper’s cottage was once listed to rent for £4,117 per month.

Director Andy Devonshire told the publication: ‘We move in and live here for the period of filming.

‘After series one, I think they had some people come in and stay over the summer, but we de-Taskmaster it when we go away so it is very different.

‘There’s a different theme inspired by a specific artist every series so there’s obviously things that stay the same but we redecorate within the boundaries of that.

‘When we leave it’s quite minimalist.’

This year’s series was mostly filmed before the pandemic, however, when social distancing was put in place, the gang moved down the road to Pinewood Studios, in Slough.

And it seems fans are in for a treat tonight, as Mawaan is back up against Daisy, Katherine, Johnny and Richard. 

However, things go slightly wrong for the comedian as he finds himself disqualified after missing the entire point of the task.

The second episode will air tonight on Channel 4 after an impressive run of nine seasons on Dave.

It’s not to be missed!

Channel 4 Taskmaster: Location of the Taskmaster house, what it used to be and how much you could rent it for

It’s finally time for a new season of Taskmaster, and we’re so ready for our evenings to be filled with bizarre celebrity challenges and hilarious banter at the hands of Greg Davies, Alex Horne and the crew.

Super-fans might be amused to know that you can actually visit the Taskmaster house – and it’s right here in London.

Taskmaster is filmed on the grounds and indoors of a house in Chiswick, South West London – specifically a three-bedroom bungalow on the outskirts of a golf course.

The house is actually a former groundskeepers’ cottage, but you’ll probably best recognise the grounds, where a white caravan is usually parked on the grass beside the main house.

On the inside of the bungalow are three bedrooms, one with an en-suite shower room, and a reception/dining room.

Despite the fact that it’s a pretty modest home, the Taskmaster house has previously been let out on Rightmove for an incredible £4,117 per month.

According to the Radio Times, the Taskmaster crew actually live inside the house during filming.

“We move in and live here for the period of filming,” director Andy Devonshire said.

“After series one I think they had some people come in and stay over the summer, but we de-Taskmaster it when we go away so it is very different.

“There’s a different theme inspired by a specific artist every series so there’s obviously things that stay the same but we redecorate within the boundaries of that. When we leave it’s quite minimalist.”

Where is Taskmaster filmed? House’s filming location in London series continues to Channel 4

The new series of the show starts on channel 4 tonight.

The new series of Taskmaster is currently airing, with a new set of contestants taking on a bunch of bizarre new challenges.

The show is making its  Channel 4 debut for its 10th series, having moved over from Dave which had been its home since 2015.

Much of the show that’s not set in the studio takes place in the famous Taskmaster house and gardens.

Here’s everything you need to know about the filming locations and what it is like shooting there.

Where is the Taskmaster house?

A portion of the show is made up of pre-recorded tasks outside the studio, which sees contestants receiving an envelope with a creative and amusing challenge in it.

This mostly takes place in and around the Taskmaster house, and its grassy garden, which has seen contestants perform many memorable tasks over the years.

The brick bungalow near a golf course in Chiswick in west London, features three bedrooms and a reception room and used to be a groundskeeper’s cottage, according to RightMove .

It is “surrounded by mature gardens” and has off-street parking – during the show there is usually a white caravan in its front garden.

The property website has previously listed the house to rent for £4,117 a month.

What is it like filming there?

Usually, contestants are filmed carrying out their tasks at the house one at a time so they are not often at the house simultaneously.

While there’s a lot they can get away with, they are not allowed on the roof of the house for safety and insurance reasons, as the show’s director Andy Devonshire told Radio Times : “Obviously it would be a bit inconvenient if we killed someone when we were making the show, whatever comedic value there is.”

He described the house as “characterful” and “unique”, and explained that each series the property is decorated a bit differently.

“There’s a different theme inspired by a specific artist every series so there’s obviously things that stay the same but we redecorate within the boundaries of that. When we leave it’s quite minimalist,” he said.

How has filming been affected by coronavirus restrictions?

Around 95 per cent of the tasks had already been filmed before lockdown, so the changes mainly affected the portions of the show filmed in the studio, the show’s creator Alex Horne told Den Of Geek .

“There is a strange thing where five per cent will have slightly different rules because we’ve done some team tasks pre-lockdown and some after with social distancing,” he said.

In an interview with Sky News , Horne said filming with coronavirus restrictions has been “a challenge” but added that he believes “‘limitations help creativity”.

“We have to stay two metres apart but that makes the challenges often more interesting and in the studio we have to be apart and there is no audience this time – we play it later to a cinema full of taskmaster fans to get an atmosphere,” he told Kay Burley.

“It has actually been interesting rather than a problem, it’s become more intense as we’re looking at each other rather than at the audience.”

He added that he hopes the show will provide a “good distraction” from everything else that is happening in the world.

Who’s in the cast for the new series?

The  cast for the new series  is actress Daisy Cooper ( This Country, The Wrong Mans ), comedian Johnny Vegas ( Benidorm ), comedian and screenwriter Mawaan Rizwan ( Live at the Apollo ) actress Katherine Parkinson ( The IT Crowd, Sherlock ), and comedian and podcaster Richard Herring.

Greg Davies is back as the mighty  Taskmaster  and the show’s creator Alex Horne returns to lend a hand and help judge the contestants on their tasks.

Season 10 is on Channel 4 every Thursday at 9pm and will be available to stream on All 4 shortly after each broadcast.

The acclaimed and award-winning British comedy panel game show Taskmaster is back for a 17th season. After almost a decade on air, how does the duo behind the hit keep it fresh?

"I think there are a couple of lucky things," Horne, the show's creator and co-host, mused. "One is that there's a whole different panel or cast every single series so that five people in it have never been in before and never will be again, so it's all automatically fresh from that point of view. It's like starting your sitcom with two old characters you know and then five fresh ones."

"We're the White Lotus of the entertainment world," added co-host and celebrated stand-up comedian Greg Davies, the titular Taskmaster. "If anything, The White Lotus has ripped us off (laughs)."

Horne continued, "Also the tasks are different every time. We set this a stupid rule: you can't repeat a task. Other than those two things, everything else stays the same. We get slightly older."

Taskmaster , a show in which five comedians face off against each other in several cerebral challenges, is available in the US on the official Taskmaster YouTube Channel and via the SVOD service Taskmaster SuperMax+ . It has become a huge success in the States, gaining 130,000 US subscribers in the last 12 months and reaching 200 million views and 60 million hours watched on YouTube.

Davies believes that the seasonally revolving door of panelists allows the audience to build a connection with them but also means they don't get too much of the same, and the reactions are authentic - and it's the same for him and Horne.

"Having a new cast of characters means they always confound our expectations. We have an idea of what they might bring to the show, and they always bring that plus loads of other weird and wonderful stuff," Davies said. "I think with that thing about the best-laid plans of mice and men, whenever we're putting together a group of people that we think will interact in a certain way, they never do. I don't think formulas work on the show."

Horne added, "Often some of them have never seen the show before, which always surprises me because they have agreed to do it. I like it when they haven't seen the show because they're not trying to copy anyone else."

Davies interjected, "We had a contestant on series 15 or something who I don't think he knew who I was."

Horne also revealed that it is "sometimes awkward" when it comes to panel picks. "There are people who want to be on it who I think are brilliant, but there are only so many spaces. It can get slightly fiddly. Just this morning, we were talking about someone who would be great," he said.

Davies added, "I think people are keen to do it because it offers a slightly different showcase for them. Speaking as someone who does stand up, you get a little bit tired of your creation after a while, if that makes sense. You put restrictions on yourself as a performer for a multitude of things that only a therapist could probably unravel. On Taskmaster , you can't hide in the creation; you must reveal at least something about yourself. Performers who appear on the show often reveal ways they are entertaining that they weren't even aware of and that's one of the great joys of the show for me."

While the panels are carefully curated, the tasks are less coordinated.

"It's definitely right to think about it in terms of a dinner party, but I don't pick tasks dependent on the people," Horne revealed. "There are ten episodes, so there's always going involve music, another that involves art, and one that involves sport, but if we have someone we know can sing on it, we don't say, 'Oh, we have got to make sure they sing at some point.' It would be better if we did, but I'm cynical, so we go for the funniest stuff rather than the best stuff.

There are already numerous incarnations of Taskmaster , which started as a show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival worldwide. However, would the pair consider bringing the UK show to the US?

"We're in New York at the moment and we're muttering about it. We think it could work," Horne mused.

"We would love to do it. I'll say it, blatantly," Davies laughed. "I would love us to do it, but I think it would have to be a recreation of what we do on our terms. American performers coming into our world and abiding by our rules, and I think it would work, and I would love to do it."

Horne continued, "Americans have always loved some British shows, like The Office and going back to Monty Python. I don't know why, but I think they have taken this under their wing. I haven't got an answer for you, and it might be because it's quintessentially British, but it's very different from anything on American TV. People tend to tell us that it makes them happy, and if they're sad, they can turn to it and escape."

So, who would they like to be on the panel of Taskmaster US?

"Schwarzenegger," they said almost in unison.

"And Danny DeVito," Horne added. "Let's get both Twins on. We'd love to get Kamala Harris."

"Who's the one that does the chat show? She was in E.T.? Drew Barrymore," Davies continued.

The last few years have seen Taskmaster 's popularity grow in the US, which was proved during the pandemic when Horne set fans tasks to complete and submitted their results.

"We loved that," Davies recalled. "Escapism is a word that gets bandied around with our show. Even as the Taskmaster, the appeal for me is that you step out of actual life and exist within the confines and rules of this universe. I think people like that because the Taskmaster universe has things you must o to live in that world and you can perhaps forget about other stresses. I don't know whether it's specifically that we're British or more that it appeals to the desire in most humans to forget stuff."

Do fans of the show ever try to suggest tasks for the show?

"I always wrestle those people to the floor," Davies joked. "You might as well get that as a warning out there. Now, if you approached me and tried to pitch your tasks to me, you're going to get floored. I've learned how to do it safely. I'm not choking them out or anything horrible. It's more I place them on the ground and walk away."

Horne added, "They often haven't even started speaking and you see a look in their eye. My system is to note down their ideas and then burn the piece of paper."

According to the duo, filming a season takes about six months. As the seventeenth one roles out, they are already at work on the eighteenth.

"We've just started, and the studio part of it is not until September. We started filming about a month ago," Horne confirmed. "It's quite fun for them to look back and see what they were like six months ago. They do sometimes forget. It's a long process, and we like that. They've invested a lot of their life into it."

"The panelists will do one day one week and another day two weeks later. We try to spread the days apart because otherwise, they get a bit in their head, and it becomes too predictable. We do it in their diary, wherever they're free."

Due to the show's popularity, the Taskmaster House has become iconic and is a character in the show in its own right. However, they have managed to stop the location, rethemed for each season, from being swamped by fans.

"I think I can solve the mystery as to why it's not inundated by people. It's because it's horrible. It is quite grubby," Davies said. "It's a horrible, cold, awful little place that I'm delighted I don't have to spend much time in."

"Anyone who comes there will go I can't believe I spent money on a plane ticket to see this."

Horne added, "It's also charming and lovely. We're in there all year round because we're filming almost constantly, but we treat it as our office as well. We have parties there in the summer for the team, and our kids go there. Our dogs have been there. It's like a second home, but we still rent it out, which is annoying."

Do Davies and Horne have a favorite task this season?

"Truthfully, I don't remember any of them but that's not about the show. That's about my personal issues," Davies confessed with a chuckle.

"We don't because there are so many," Horne clarified. "There are some that were outdoors in that big farm where they were running around, and those were fun. There was a giant dot-to-dot one that really tickled me."

Davies added, "Yes, I enjoyed that because the horses felt like a jeopardy that none of us had banked on."

"And Nick Mohammed was dressed as Dracula," Horne concluded. "Let's just say a lot was going on."

The show has been met with widespread praise from critics, with Radio Times saying that the show “hasn’t diluted Taskmaster’s inventiveness and verve”, while The Guardian said that it was “one of the most effortless and reliable pleasures TV has to offer”.

Speaking about how he came up with the idea for the show, Alex previously told Channel 4: “Eleven years ago, my wife and I had had a baby, so I didn’t go to Edinburgh Fringe for the first time in years.  

“Tim Key won the comedy award and I was sat at home with the baby feeling very jealous, genuinely. So, I set up a show for the following year and I invited 20 comics. I sent them all emails secretly, didn’t tell them who each other was, and said, ‘I’m starting a new competition which you can enter, I’m going to set you a different task every month.’ Mike Wozniak won it and Tim didn’t, so I was happy. And none of the comedians was Greg Davies.”

Greg joked: “I’d love to tell you it wasn’t noted at the time, but it was noted at the time. I was in a sketch group, We are Klang, and one of the members had been invited by Alex, so I knew about it… it felt like there was a real Edinburgh clique going on and I was in the early stages of my career, excluded by someone I would have thought was a monster.”

To date, Frankel has revealed the garage, her daughter Bryn's room , her own bedroom , and finally, the serene beachside outdoor space we maybe are dying to lounge in. Ahead, we've rounded up her most memorable tips, as well as some shopping inspo, should you choose to match Frankel's home style this summer.

Starting with the garage , the first video in the series, Frankel shows off what appears to be laminate flooring and artwork on the walls to make the space feel more styled. She insists on shelving and cabinets in the garage to hide away clutter and keep everything looking clean.

Next, Frankel gives fans a tour of her enviable outdoor space and touts her passion for repurposing her favorite furniture finds. "Like clothing, I think you should restyle your old furniture," she says. "I think people buy way too much." She adds that a majority of the furniture she has outside is either from old Target lines, TJ Maxx (we all know she loves TJ Maxx ), or from one of her storage units, and she simply repurposed the items to make them look like new again, if they needed repair.

"I'm getting rid of things all the time; it's just that I don't rush out to buy—I'd rather use what I have," she adds.

Along the same lines, Frankel repeatedly explains that if something doesn't work for her in the new Hamptons house, she's not quick to tear it out and replace it—she works with it to fit her aesthetic. They couldn't build a jacuzzi into the deck, so instead of tossing the one that was there, she simply surrounded it with wood to match the deck to make it look like it was built-in. And instead of removing the "really ugly" wood paneling in her bedroom, Frankel bleached it and painted it to make it look how she wanted.

Finally, in her bedroom tour, Frankel gives viewers insight into where she invests the most money in a reno. "I like to spend money on construction and things that hold value, not furnishings," she explains.

“Slave Play. Not A Movie. A Play.” | Thursday, June 20

“Slave Play” quickly became one of the most talked-about and divisive shows of the 2019–2020 season. Formerly the record holder as the most Tony Award-nominated play of all-time, the play tackles race, sex and interracial relationships and quite literally holds a mirror up to its audience. The new documentary, directed by Harris, will take viewers behind the scenes from run-throughs to performances and through the play’s history through present day as he directs new actors through workshop rehearsals. “Slave Play. He stars as Alejandro, an aspiring toy designer from El Salvador, struggling to bring his unusual ideas to life who must race against time as his work visa runs out and take a job assisting an erratic art-world outcast. Justin Timberlake Halts Texas Tour Stop to Help Fan in Need of Assistance: 'House Lights Up'

"We need some assistance right here about five rows back," the *NSYNC star said in a clip shared on social media

Justin Timberlake is looking out for his fans!

On Saturday, June 1, the singer, 43, was performing his 2002 hit "Cry Me a River" at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas when he noticed a fan seemingly needing assistance.

In a video shared on TikTok , Timberlake was seen briefly halting his Forget Tomorrow World Tour performance to check up on the fan in question.

After telling the crowd to "put your hands up" to the song, he tried to get a member of the security team's attention, pointing to the person who appeared to need help.

"House lights up, thank you! Sorry everybody one second... we need some assistance right here about five rows back," the *NSYNC star said.

"Are we OK? No, no problem!" the musician told the fan after they seemingly thanked him for stopping the show to check on them.

"OK, we're OK," Timberlake said while smiling and clapping.

Per TMZ , an eyewitness said paramedics weren't called to the scene and the fan in question later returned to their seat.

The incident came after Timberlake ended a five-year hiatus on April 29, 2024, to kick off his latest world tour at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada.

Timberlake delivered two hours of back-to-back hits and new favorites from his sixth studio album, Everything I Thought It Was , according to a release.

The musician performed tracks including “My Love,” "Suit & Tie,” “Rock Your Body,” and “SexyBack” as well as performing live debuts of “Technicolor,” “Infinity Sex,” “Imagination,” “Drown,” “My Favorite Drug,” “F---in' Up the Disco,” “Play,” and “Flame” from his new album , which was released on March 15.

Timberlake announced he was going on tour on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon back in January.

The star is set to take the stage at Fort Worth, Texas on June 4, before heading to cities including Atlanta, Miami, Chicago, New York City, and Boston in June. He'll wrap up the tour on Dec. 20, 2024, at Kansas City's T-Mobile Center.

W ASHINGTON — President Biden briefly wore a football helmet Friday during a celebration of the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl championship — in a bizarre callback to 1988 Democratic presidential candidate Michael Dukakis’ infamous photo-op of himself wearing a helmet atop a military tank.

“Put it on!” Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce goaded the president after head coach Andy Reid and owner Clark Hunt presented the 81-year-old president with the autographed gift on the White House lawn.

Biden, who had just delivered brief remarks congratulating the team, held the helmet above his head and attempted to do exactly that — initially smacking the headgear on his aviator sunglasses, which he had to remove as the team members roared behind him.

“Oh s–t!” a member of the team could be heard exclaiming in proximity to a White House microphone as Kelce, the boyfriend of musician Taylor Swift , and his teammates laughed.

Swift did not attend the DC event due to her ongoing European tour.

Biden approached his lectern and hunched over to say something, but technicians seemed to have already turned it off the recording device and his words were inaudible.

The president then removed the helmet before clutching it in his hand as he walked back to the White House.

As was the case with Dukakis, who donned his protective headgear to demonstrate his readiness to lead the military, Biden’s football photo-op invited immediate ridicule.

“They’re not laughing with him — they’re laughing at him,” tweeted the RNC Research rapid response account, which often generates viral online content.

Bobby LaValley, an aide to House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) noted Biden’s repeated boasts to have excelled at football and the fact that he tried to wear both his sunglasses and the helmet at the same time.

“‘Biden loves to brag about his football career; you’d think he would know how to put on a helmet,” LaValley tweeted .

Others offered more upbeat appraisals of Biden’s photo op.

“Biden is a rock star,” wrote one X user. “He put on a @Chiefs helmet during the welcome to the team that won the last Super Bowl! The players shouted ‘do it do it’ and that’s how it happened.”

Patrick Mahomes plays tour guide, Chiefs have fun with President Biden in return to White House

WASHINGTON — Known as a master at making magnificent passes, Patrick Mahomes found himself Friday doing what he often does with his teammates, even if he didn’t have a football in his hands. Mahomes, the Kansas City Chiefs’ quarterback, passed as much information as he could to many of his teammates who were in the midst of their first time being inside the White House.

The Chiefs’ return to the White House to celebrate their second consecutive Super Bowl victory, a second visit in less than a year, allowed Mahomes to demonstrate his ability to recall all the artifacts that fascinated him the most, many of them he learned 11 months ago from President Joe Biden.

“I’m showing other guys pictures on the wall, I’m showing paintings and some old furniture,” Mahomes said. “I felt like I was trying to be a tour guide.

“What makes it special is the guys that didn’t get to do it (last year). You talk about it all year long. You talk about the White House trip, winning the Super Bowl and everything that comes with that. Getting to show some of these young guys and guys that have come from other teams, it’s a special moment for them and you get to see that smile on their face when we leave.”

Within minutes of Mahomes sharing his second experience at the White House with reporters, a group of his first-time visiting teammates — defensive end Felix Anudike-Uzomah , receiver Rashee Rice , linebacker Drue Tranquill , cornerback Nic Jones and former safety Mike Edwards — sneaked into the media briefing room, a few of them approaching the presidential lectern for a fun photo opportunity. One reporter asked Anudike-Uzomah a simple question: What was the best part of the tour?

Shaking his head and smiling, Anudike-Uzomah responded with only one word: “Everything.”

At 4:30 p.m. ET Friday, the Chiefs’ final act of their memorable 2023 season began when 32 players who played a role in the team’s championship appeared on the stage in front of the Rose Garden. The group included players who are no longer on the roster: Edwards, cornerback L’Jarius Sneed , backup quarterback Blaine Gabbert , tight end Blake Bell , linebacker Darius Harris and punter Tommy Townsend .

In his short speech, Biden commended the Chiefs for their ability to persevere through a difficult regular season and their toughest playoff path with Mahomes, who became their leading man in 2018. Aaron Schatz, the chief analytics officer of FTN Network and inventor of DVOA, said the Chiefs faced the hardest postseason road to a championship ever, based on the regular-season DVOA of their four opponents. Biden proclaimed that the Chiefs’ sustained success should lead Mahomes, coach Andy Reid, tight end Travis Kelce and pass rusher Chris Jones to be elected into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in the future.

“When the doubters questioned you whether you could pull it off, believe me, I know what that feels like,” Biden said, smiling. “But anyway, I don’t think anybody is doubting you now. You fought hard. You kept the faith.”

In another dramatic Super Bowl, Mahomes led the Chiefs to a 25-22 comeback victory over the San Francisco 49ers in overtime, the franchise becoming just the ninth team to be back-to-back champions. Mahomes completed all eight of his passes on the final drive, his final connection an easy 3-yard, walk-off touchdown to receiver Mecole Hardman . One of the highlights of Biden’s speech was his giving Mahomes a new nickname: The Comeback King.

“It was cool coming from the president,” Mahomes said. “We all understand how tough it is (to win a championship). I’ve dealt with losing in the Super Bowl and losing in the playoffs. You don’t take these moments for granted. These are the moments you’ll remember for the rest of your life. I’m glad I get to do it with a lot of guys that I call my brothers.”

In his five-minute speech, Biden didn’t mention Taylor Swift, the pop superstar who began dating Kelce early last season. Biden also didn’t look at or mention kicker Harrison Butker , who stood on the top row during the ceremony. Earlier this month, Butker criticized Biden for how he handled several issues, including abortion and the COVID-19 pandemic, in a commencement address at Benedictine College. Butker questioned Biden’s devotion to Catholicism, too. Throughout Biden’s remarks, Butker didn’t smile and rarely applauded him.

The only political statement Biden included in his speech was on gun violence. He praised four members of the Chiefs — right guard Trey Smith , long snapper James Winchester , running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire and Reid — for their response in aiding fans after the shooting in Kansas City in February after the Super Bowl parade , when one person was killed and at least 22 others were wounded.

“This team is exceptional, though as a country we have to do more to stop the tragic shootings before they happen,” Biden said. “Last year, I talked about how after winning the Super Bowl, many of these players went up to coach Reid and asked what they could do better. Even at the peak of their success, they’re looking for ways to work harder, to dig deeper and to improve.

“That’s the powerful lesson about sports in the nation: We’re a great nation because we’re good people, we never give up, we look out for one another and we leave no one behind. That’s America. I’ve never been more optimistic about our future. We just have to remember who we are. We’re the United States of America, and there’s nothing we can’t do when we do it together.”

Of course, as they did last year, the Chiefs were still able to produce a few funny moments.

A year ago, Kelce, who is known for his comedic timing and exuberant personality, made the crowd laugh when he approached the lectern, saying just seven words — “So, I’ve been waiting for this moment …” — before he was gently pushed back by Mahomes to join his teammates on the stage while photographers snapped shots of Biden with a red No. 46 jersey with his last name stitched on the back.

This time, Biden welcomed Kelce to the microphone.

“My fellow Americans … it’s nice to see you all yet again,” Kelce started, leading everyone in the crowd to laugh, including Biden. “I’m not going to lie, President Biden. They told me if I came up here, I’d get tased, so I’m gonna go back to my spot, all right.”

Joining the players on the stage was Reid, defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, offensive coordinator Matt Nagy, special teams coordinator Dave Toub, general manager Brett Veach, team president Mark Donovan and club owner Clark Hunt, who missed last year’s ceremony when Norma Hunt, his mother, died the day before the event at age 85 .

“Over the past few years, the men behind me have elevated the status of Kansas City and united football fans across the country and throughout the world,” Hunt said of the Chiefs’ earning three Vince Lombardi Trophies in the past five years. “There’s a lot that can divide us today, but for so many of us, sports provide a unifying joy that we all need.”

The 10-minute ceremony ended with Hunt and Reid presenting Biden with the gift of a Chiefs helmet that featured three autographs in black marker from Veach, Reid and Donovan. Within seconds of holding the helmet, Biden was encouraged by Kelce to put the helmet on. Biden obliged, much to the surprise of the players, who responded with loud cheers and laughter. Even Butker smiled and laughed at Biden’s gesture.

With the helmet still on, Biden turned around and put his hands up near the face mask to show Mahomes that he was ready to catch an over-the-shoulder pass.

“We feel blessed to be here,” Reid said after the team’s tour of the White House. “It’s been tremendous. I don’t know how many presidents have tried on your team helmet. This might be a first. It’s history being made.”

Biden’s last act on stage was to spend a few more minutes chatting with Mahomes, shaking the quarterback’s hands several times. Biden left the Rose Garden smiling with his new helmet in his left hand. Mahomes stayed on the stage and took a few seconds to look around.

“Just to get to look out and see the Washington Monument, it’s a cool moment,” Mahomes said. “I appreciate it. Hopefully, we’ll get to come back again. I’ll appreciate it every single time.”
