In the early 1980s, young Thomas Cruise Mapother IV was an eager, fresh-faced young actor ready to take on Hollywood, and his first Tinseltown romance happened so early in his career that he had still yet to change his name . When Tom Cruise dated "Little House on the Prairie" actor Melissa Gilbert, she was the recognizable star. An Emmy-nominated showbiz veteran with years of acting experience under her belt by the time she was a teen, Gilbert later shared on " Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen " that she and Cruise went out when she was 16 or 17 years old. While there was no sex during their time together, Gilbert admitted that she and Cruise made out.

Gilbert and Cruise's relationship was short-lived, but it wasn't the last time the young stars would cross paths. Gilbert moved on to a relationship with Rob Lowe, Cruise's co-star in the 1983 teen drama "The Outsiders." Allegedly, Gilbert and Cruise still hooked up while she was with Lowe, but any possible clandestine love triangles didn't stop the trio from hanging out together publicly.

Heather Locklear couldn't take his cringe dance moves

Tom Cruise was still a relatively unknown actor when he went on his one and only date with TV star Heather Locklear. She was simultaneously appearing on the hit TV shows "T.J. Hooker" and "Dynasty," and he was grabbing roles in movies like "Endless Love" and "Taps," when the pair hit the town in the early '80s. Clearly, she had the star power, but Cruise was on the brink of fame — and according to Locklear's recollection of their date, he was already making some moves that would make him a movie star.

During a 2013 appearance on "Chelsea Lately" (via the  Daily Mail ), Locklear claimed Cruise busted out some embarrassing dance moves at a club that left her bewildered. She likened them to the ones in his famous 1983 breakout movie "Risky Business," where he slides across a living room in nothing but a button-up shirt, briefs, and white socks. "You just kind of stand there and don't know what to do. Do you dance around him? It was weird. I just sat down," she said.

Locklear didn't pinpoint the exact year of their date, but it was definitely before Cruise was mega famous. Admittedly weirded out by the future movie star, Locklear didn't date Cruise again. And although "Risky Business" writer and director Paul Brickman credits himself for the movie's iconic dance scene, one can't help but wonder if one of Cruise's moves from his Locklear date actually made the final cut.

From friendzone to lovers with Rebecca De Mornay

Tom Cruise and his "Risky Business" co-star, Rebecca De Mornay, had a two-and-a-half-year relationship, but the pair didn't exactly hit it off at first. De Mornay later dished with a laugh to Celebrity Page , "I will say that I thought he was very annoying when we first started [filming]." Clearly, she got over Cruise-induced aggravation as they became more than just colleagues, but when they were doing press for the movie, the pair was publicized as merely being close pals. 

Although they played coy to the media, their co-star Curtis Armstrong's "Revenge of the Nerd" memoir (via The Hollywood Reporter ) later revealed that they were apparently openly and intensely engaging with each other during production. Their budding relationship was interrupted, however, by on-set appearances by De Mornay's then-beau, Harry Dean Stanton, who eventually got miffed enough about their affair that he went to confront Cruise about it, as De Mornay recalled to Vanity Fair . She admittedly left the "Paris, Texas" actor for Cruise, and the couple quickly became media darlings and paparazzi targets. They broke up just before Cruise began work on his 1986 blockbuster film "Top Gun."

She might have dumped him for Cruise, but De Mornay's relationship with Stanton proved to have staying power, while her time with Cruise stayed strictly in the past. Remembering the late Stanton, who died in 2017, De Mornay told Vanity Fair, "Harry Dean and I are best friends, and Tom and I don't talk."

His short-lived but influential marriage to Mimi Rogers

Tom Cruise's first marriage was to actor Mimi Rogers, and while short-lived, it proved to immensely impact Cruise's future. He and Rogers met at a dinner party when Cruise's 1986 blockbuster film "Top Gun" was in development. The couple married in a small, private ceremony in New York state in May 1987, with Cruise's "The Outsiders" co-star, Emilio Estevez, on best man duty. Rogers, a second-generation Scientologist, is credited for introducing Cruise to Scientology, per The Daily Beast , an organization whose influence would reportedly play a big part in his love life.

While they kept their relationship fairly low-key, rumors swirled in the press around their unsuccessful attempts at having children together, sparking years of speculation about Cruise's sexuality. He and Rogers quietly separated in 1989, and their split was officially announced the following year . Publicly, their divorce was partially chalked up Cruise's ascent into superstardom, with his focus on work leaving little time for love. Privately, alleged infidelity — including with his "Days of Thunder" co-star and future wife, Nicole Kidman — and reported meddling from Scientology officials  were apparently factors in their breakup. 

When asked about his first marriage in 1994, Cruise blurted to Vanity Fair, "It was a long time ago. I really don't think about it." Years later, Rogers admitted it took time for the exes to once again be on good terms. In 2001, she told People they were "nice and friendly," but added, "Between his life and mine, it's not like we have a lot of time to see each other."

Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman were the '90s it couple

When Tom Cruise saw Nicole Kidman in the 1989 Australian film "Dead Calm," he wanted to meet her. Shortly thereafter, they co-starred in 1990's "Days of Thunder," and one of the biggest celebrity relationships of that decade was off to a racing start. Cruise and Kidman reportedly hooked up while filming the movie, and after his divorce from Mimi Rogers was finalized, they tied the knot on Christmas Eve 1990. Dubbed "Hollywood's Most Romantic Couple" by People , Cruise shared with Vanity Fair that Kidman was his soul mate, and she told the publication, "He's amazingly romantic. He puts so much work into us." In 1992, they adopted their daughter, Isabella, and would welcome son Connor via adoption three years later.

In true power couple fashion, Cruise and Kidman continued to work together throughout their relationship. In addition to "Days of Thunder," they co-starred in the films "Far and Away" and "Eyes Wide Shut," the latter of which was an intense 15-month movie shoot that Cruise credited with making their marriage stronger. But a year after "Eyes Wide Shut" dropped, their marriage was over. Cruise filed for divorce in December 2000, citing "irreconcilable differences," per Entertainment Weekly . At the time, their rep denied Scientology was a reason for their split, but subsequent reports have alleged otherwise. 

When asked why they divorced by Vanity Fair in 2002, Cruise only said, "She knows why, and I know why. She's the mother of my children, and I wish her well."

He and Penélope Cruz gave tabloids plenty to talk about

Tom Cruise's next relationship was with Spanish actor Penélope Cruz. They met in 2000 on the set of "Vanilla Sky" — and Cruise was technically still legally married to Nicole Kidman when he was first romantically linked to Cruz in the summer of 2001. Cruise and Kidman's divorce was finalized on August 8 of that year, and it's since become a part of pop culture history thanks to an infamous photo of Kidman's alleged celebration. 

Cruise and Cruz soon caused a stir as they made their red-carpet debut at the premiere of her film "Captain Corelli's Mandolin." Cruz embraced Cruise's public support, telling  ABC News , "He came and shared [the spotlight] with me. It was special for me that he wanted to share it with me that way." Cruise didn't spare any romantic gestures, telling Marie Claire (via Entertainment Weekly ) in 2003 that he would surprise Cruz by cooking her favorite foods and drawing baths for whenever she arrived home. 

Despite any notions of domestic bliss, however, the relationship proved to be dramatic fodder for the tabloids. Things actually got so intense in the rumor department that Cruz sued Australian tabloid New Idea for defamation for peddling lies about the couple. Per Variety , the outlet published a retraction and issued an apology. Unfortunately, Cruz's legal victory didn't stop the gossip, and in 2004, she and Cruise amicably broke up after three years together. A source told People , "The relationship just ran its course and they decided not to be girlfriend and boyfriend anymore."

Age was just a number for Cher and Tom Cruise

One of Tom Cruise's more curious romantic trysts was with entertainment superstar Cher. 16 years his senior, Cher was already an established music and TV star and well into the movie star phase of her career when she met Cruise at Sean Penn and Madonna's 1985 Malibu wedding. Apparently, Cher's bright purple hair at the nuptials didn't spark an immediate love connection with the young actor, but she and Cruise reconnected later that year at a White House event that raised awareness around dyslexia, a learning disorder both stars have been diagnosed with. While they didn't hook up at the event, Cher later told the  Daily Mail , "We didn't go out till way later, but there definitely was a connection there."

Soon, however, Cruise was apparently making Cher say "whoa" in more ways than one. Cher previously revealed to Oprah Winfrey  that they'd even lived together in his apartment, saying, "He was so wonderful, and I was so crazy about him." Cher further praised Cruise on " Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen ," sharing that she considers him in the top five of her greatest lovers. 

For his part, Cruise has stayed mum on his romance with Cher , but there seems to be no animosity between them. Calling Cruise a "great, lovable guy," Cher further told Cohen on "WWHL" (via Page Six ), "It was pretty hot and heavy for a little minute."

His blink-and-you-missed-it fling with Sofía Vergara

Among many of Tom Cruise's romantic trysts was a brief interlude with a pre-"Modern Family" Sofía Vergara. When the two got together in the early '00s, Vergara's small roles in Hollywood movies like "Big Trouble," "The 24th Day," and "Soul Plane" weren't creating a path to superstardom. Cruise, who was having trouble finding a girlfriend, allegedly made Scientology honchos a list of potential love interests — and Vergara made the cut. 

According to Andrew Morton's book " Tom Cruise: An Unauthorized Biography ," the relatively unknown Vergara was set up to meet Cruise by Will Smith at a pre-Oscars bash in 2005. Hitting it off, Vergara began hanging out with Cruise, even bringing her son, Manolo, with her so that he could get to know his kids, Isabella and Connor. Things were seemingly moving forward in their relationship at an incredible clip, so much so that there were allegedly even talks of marriage mere weeks after they got together.

But for Vergara, the ever-looming presence of Scientology reportedly proved to be too much. When it was allegedly demanded that she convert to Scientology to continue their relationship, Vergara is said to have balked. A pal claimed to Morton, "She was fundamentally terrified by Scientology. She sincerely believed that she would be struck down by God and burn in hell if she joined." Needless to say, the Cruise-Vergara era was over before it had a chance to get started.

Nazanin Boniadi allegedly didn't pass the girlfriend audition

In the mid-'00s, Tom Cruise was looking for love, and — allegedly with the help of the Church of Scientology — he tried to find it with Iranian-born British actor Nazanin Boniadi. The "Homeland" star was already a Scientologist when she was reportedly chosen to become Cruise's girlfriend by the organization following a round of auditions in late 2004. According to a 2012 report by  Vanity Fair , though Boniadi wasn't initially told that her top-secret Scientology project was preparing her to meet Cruise, she hesitantly embraced the chance to be with him and decided to take the attention from the actor as a compliment.

While Cruise reportedly didn't hold back on the PDA, Boniadi was more reserved, which purportedly irritated the star. As their relationship progressed, Boniadi felt increasingly confined by the arrangement, which allegedly included confidentiality agreements and being controlled by Cruise and Scientology officials. Things came to a breaking point when Boniadi was at Cruise's Telluride, Colorado home and asked Church of Scientology head David Miscavige to repeat himself, allegedly leaving Miscavige insulted and Cruise appalled at the apparent slight. By January 2005, Boniadi and Cruise were done, with the actual breakup reportedly conducted not by Cruise, but by Scientology officials. 

Per the Independent , the Church of Scientology denied these claims. In 2012, Boniadi name-checked Cruise on an anti-Scientology diss track: "But we all know how it is, there ain't no road to freedom / It's a blind alley, like Kirstie Alley / Travolta and Cruise, but we ain't no fools."

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' marriage defined an era

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes' famous romance defined the celebrity-obsessed pop culture of the mid-'00s. Holmes was apparently one of many women who allegedly auditioned to be Tom Cruise's girlfriend , and she seemingly nailed it by admitting her childhood crush on him. Cruise and Holmes took things public in 2005 during the whirlwind publicity tours for their movies "The War of the Worlds" and "Batman Begins." Cruise jumping on Oprah Winfrey's couch and sparring with Matt Lauer about the history of psychiatry? It all happened that spring and summer amidst the heat of the "TomKat" romance. Less than two years after meeting, Cruise and Holmes would welcome their child, Suri, and get married in an extravagant Italian ceremony that reportedly cost $3 million.

Once the dust settled on their marriage, it seems all was not what it seemed to be. Confined by their intense fame, Holmes admitted to Vanity Fair reporter Maureen Orth in 2012, "Oh, we don't go outside very much," and Scientology was reportedly a constant presence in their private lives. Holmes filed for divorce that June, allegedly blindsiding Cruise with the move . Thanks to help from her attorney father, Holmes had a prenuptial agreement in place, and their divorce was finalized in less than two weeks. 

Of her split from Cruise, Holmes — who was awarded primary custody of Suri — told InStyle  in 2020, "That time was intense. It was a lot of attention. ... We had some funny moments out and about in public." To say the least, Katie!

Was his alleged romance with Hayley Atwell impossible?

After his headline-grabby divorce from Katie Holmes in 2012, Tom Cruise kept his personal life mostly to himself throughout much of the 2010s. Cruise's post-Holmes filmography was mostly action-hero fare, including installments of his "Jack Reacher" and "Mission: Impossible" franchises. His public persona became less centered around buoyant displays of affection, as it had in the '00s, and more about Cruise's death-defying film stunt work. But by late 2020, Cruise was rumored to have a new love interest in Hayley Atwell, his "Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning" co-star.

The Sun reported that Cruise and Atwell had bonded while filming in both the U.K. and Rome, having become close during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns. The following July, the duo took in Wimbledon together, further sparking romance chatter in the media. By September 2021, however, Cruise and Atwell reportedly called it quits, taking the highway to the friendzone. However, they apparently got back together in early 2022, but split up yet again shortly after they both attended the May 2022 premiere of "Top Gun: Maverick." A source cited by  The U.S. Sun partially blamed public scrutiny for the breakup, claiming, "What was working behind closed doors didn't work out so well when it was made public, and the fanfare around them as a couple exploded again. They have now decided they are better as friends."

Tom Cruise and Shakira sparked rumors at the race track

In May 2023, Tom Cruise was linked to singing superstar Shakira after the duo was spotted at a Formula 1 Grand Prix together in Miami. A source dished to Page Six  about the possibility of a love connection and claimed, "He is extremely interested in pursuing her. There is chemistry." The insider further hinted that perhaps Shakira "need[ed] a soft pillow to land on, and that could be Tom" after her dramatic breakup with soccer star Gerard Piqué. 

Sure, Cruise and Shakira chatted it up at an event, and he even reportedly gifted her flowers — but was it the start of a beautiful relationship? According to sources in Shakira's camp, the answer was a resounding "no." While insiders couldn't directly speak to Cruise's alleged floral fixation for the singer, they told TMZ , "She's very much single. ... Shakira's just not interested in dating right now." The sources also clarified that both Cruise and Shakira were merely guests of Formula 1 superstar racer Lewis Hamilton, hence being spotted together.

The pair reportedly dated while Tom was an aspiring actor, and still going by his birth name , Tom Cruise Mapother IV.

Years later, in an appearance on Watch What Happens Live , Melissa said, “Actually, when I dated him he was Tom Mapother still,” adding that she was “16 maybe or 17” when they met.

Melissa also got into the nitty gritty of their relationship, revealing to host Andy Cohen that their pair never slept together.

Tom next dated his Risky Business co-star, Rebecca De Mornay, although their romance reportedly didn’t start until after filming wrapped.

In a 1986 Rolling Stone profile, Sean Penn recalled a night out with Tom in New York shortly after the hit film was released.

“All these girls were coming over. And this really pretty girl came up to Tommy and started talking to him. And he realised that she wanted him for his body . And he screamed at her, ‘I have a girlfriend that I’m in love with!’ And the girl said, ‘You should have told me that five minutes ago!’”

Perhaps the most surprising union of all, Tom was also linked to popstar Cher in 1985. The pair reportedly met at Madonna’s wedding to Sean Penn, and then found themselves together again at a dinner held at the White House.

Years later, in an appearance on Watch What Happens Live , Cher shared that Tom “wasn’t a Scientologist” when they dated, adding, “It was pretty hot and heavy for a little minute.”

1986 – 1990: Mimi Rogers

In a 1986 Rolling Stone interview, Tom said he met his first wife, Mimi Rogers, “at a dinner party […] when I was developing Top Gun . “

“She was dating a friend, and, uh, I thought she was extremely bright.”

The pair were married in 1987. In another Rolling Stone interview, Tom said of his then-wife,   “I wouldn’t have been able to make it through Born , I don’t think, without her being there. There were times I was so physically exhausted, and the stuff was very emotional.”

In the same interview, he revealed that Mimi was the first person he had ever been in love with.

One of his most high-profile relationships, Tom was with Australian actress Nicole Kidman from 1990 to 2001, who he met on the set of Days Of Thunder .

According to Us Weekly , the pair were married less than one year after his divorce to Mimi Rogers was finalised, in a private ceremony held on Christmas Eve. 

After they were married, the couple worked together again, this time on Far And Away . In 1992, the same year the film was released, they adopted their first child, Isabella. Then, in 1995, they adopted a son, Connor.

In a 2018 interview with Celebrity Page , De Mornay opened up about her romance with the "Top Gun" star, telling the outlet, "I will say that I thought he was very annoying when we first started [filming] . . . He came to grow on me because we wound up together for two and a half years after that film."

Though short-lived, one of Cruise's most notable romances was with none other than music icon Cher. The two connected for the first time at the 1985 wedding of Madonna and Sean Penn, though they got to know one another better at a White House event, per People . "Then a bunch of people who were dyslexic were invited to the White House, and Tom and I are both dyslexic . . . there was definitely a connection," she explained to the outlet.

Though it is unknown exactly how long Cruise and Cher's rendezvous lasted, the "Believe" singer did tell Andy Cohen on " Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen " in 2013 that their romance "was pretty hot and heavy for a little minute," and that Cruise was easily in her top five list of lovers.

Mimi Rogers

Cruise met his first wife in 1986. The two have differing accounts of how they initially connected, with Rogers claiming that a mutual friend set them up, and Cruise alleging that Rogers was dating someone else when they met, per Parade . Regardless of how the pair crossed paths, their relationship took off pretty fast, and a year after they met, they tied the knot in a private ceremony in May 1987, according to The Daily Beast .

For the majority of the '90s, the two were one of Hollywood's greatest power couples. They would collaborate on screen again in 1999 and star as lovers in Stanley Kubrick's "Eyes Wide Shut" together, but their marriage deteriorated not long after. Nazanin Boniadi

Though Cruise's relationship with Boniadi was short-lived, it was later revealed to be under unusual circumstances. According to a 2012 Vanity Fair story, Boniadi was one of several actors that were misled by Scientologist leaders to audition for a "special project" which required a makeover, training, and confidentiality agreements. Allegedly, the project was actually a quest from leaders in the organization to find Cruise another girlfriend after his split from Kidman.

In 2004, Boniadi was chosen to be Cruise's girlfriend, and within a month, the couple were living together. The relationship came to an end, however, after a meeting with Cruise and the Church of Scientology leader David Miscavige. Per Business Insider , the event that ended their brief fling involved a misunderstanding between Boniadi and Miscavige. "Overcome by a severe headache, Nazanin had a hard time understanding Miscavige, which infuriated him. The next day, Cruise — inches from her face — pounded on the table and screamed at her for insulting the head of the church," said Alex Gibney in the HBO documentary "Going Clear."

"Two weeks later, church henchman Tommy Davis delivered the news to Boniadi that her relationship with Cruise was over," the documentary revealed.

Katie Holmes

Following his breakup from Boniadi, Cruise met Holmes in April 2005 and started dating the "Dawson's Creek" star that same month, according to The Hollywood Reporter . Over the years, the actor has equally become known for his accomplishments on film as he has for his controversial viewpoints and various romances. Since starting his acting career, Cruise has been linked to several leading ladies, including Penélope Cruz and Nazanin Boniadi.

Cruise's most notable romances are with the women he was married to, however. The "A Few Good Men" actor has been married three times to actors Mimi Rogers, Nicole Kidman , and Katie Holmes . Most recently, Cruise has garnered attention for his relationship with his " Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One " costar Hayley Atwell, whom he allegedly had an on-again, off-again fling with from 2020 to 2022, as reported by The Sun .

Rebecca De Mornay

Cruise's on-screen chemistry with his "Risky Business" costar was not just for the cameras. Though De Mornay was in a relationship with actor Harry Dean Stanton, she and Cruise started an intense affair during the production of the 1983 film. The pair's "Risky Business" costar Curtis Armstrong revealed in his memoir "Revenge of the Nerd" that the dynamic on set was awkward at points.

"I suspect that most of Harry Dean's great qualities were lost on Tom, who, I think, was beginning to regard him as a guest overstaying his welcome. It must have been a little galling to have your heart set on f*cking your costar, and just when you think you're starting to make headway, her significant other comes popping up out of a trap like a lanky, amiable Banquo's ghost," Armstrong said (via The Hollywood Reporter ).

De Mornay and Cruise continued to have a relationship until around 1985. In a 2018 interview with Celebrity Page , De Mornay opened up about her romance with the "Top Gun" star, telling the outlet, "I will say that I thought he was very annoying when we first started [filming] . . . He came to grow on me because we wound up together for two and a half years after that film."

Though short-lived, one of Cruise's most notable romances was with none other than music icon Cher. The two connected for the first time at the 1985 wedding of Madonna and Sean Penn , though they got to know one another better at a White House Event, according to People . "Then a bunch of people who were dyslexic were invited to the White House, and Tom and I are both dyslexic...there was definitely a connection," she explained to the outlet.

Though it is unknown exactly how long Cruise and Cher's rendezvous lasted, the "Believe" singer did tell Andy Cohen on " Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen " in 2013 that their romance "was pretty hot and heavy for a little minute," and that Cruise was easily in her top five list of lovers.

Mimi Rogers

Cruise met his first wife in 1986. The two have differing accounts of how they initially connected, with Rogers claiming that a mutual friend set them up, and Cruise alleging that Rogers was dating someone else when they met, as per Parade . Regardless of how the pair crossed paths, their relationship took off pretty fast, and a year after they met, they tied the knot in a private ceremony in May 1987, according to The Daily Beast .

Rogers, a second-generation Scientologist, is likely one of the greatest influences that introduced Cruise to the controversial belief system that he has since adopted so passionately. Throughout their marriage, details of the relationship between Cruise and Rogers were constantly speculated, and combined with the actor's growing fame following films like "Cocktail" and "Rain Man." The couple quietly split in 1989 and announced their split in January 1990, as reported by Entertainment Weekly .

Though Rogers and Cruise have an amicable relationship today, the two didn't always see eye to eye after their divorce. In a 1995 interview with People , Rogers spoke harshly about her marriage to Cruise, telling the outlet, "You cease to be an individual...No matter what the article is, it's ' Tom Cruise 's wife' . . . Waiting for the moment when I don't have to talk about that [blankety-blank] name anymore."

Nicole Kidman

Around the time Cruise separated from Rogers, he met Kidman in 1989 while filming the movie, "Days of Thunder." The two hit it off right away, with Cruise later revealing (via Newsweek ), "My first reaction to meeting Nic was pure lust . . . It was totally physical." The pair wed just months after meeting in December 1990 in a private ceremony held in Colorado, according to Entertainment Weekly .

After starring in the 1992 film "Far and Away," the couple adopted a baby girl , Bella Kidman Cruise, shortly after she was born on 22 Dec., 1992, per People. Bella's adoption came after Kidman had a pregnancy loss, which she opened up about in a 2007 interview with Vanity Fair. "From the minute Tom and I were married, I wanted to have babies . . . And we lost a baby early on, so that was really very traumatic. And that's when we would adopt [our daughter] Bella," she said (via People ). Three years later, Kidman and Cruise adopted their second child, a boy named Connor Kidman Cruise, after his birth on 17 Jan., 1995.

For the majority of the '90s, the two were one of Hollywood's greatest power couples. They would collaborate on screen again in 1999 and star as lovers in Stanley Kubrick's "Eyes Wide Shut," together, but their marriage deteriorated not long after. In February 2001, the couple announced their separation. The divorce filing cited "difficulties inherent in divergent careers" as the cause for the relationship's end, per Entertainment Weekly , though many speculated the split to be partially attributed to the pair's differences in religious beliefs. "Scientology had NOTHING to do with this," Pat Kingsley, the couple's representative assured at the time.

Penélope Cruz

Cruise met Cruz on the set of "Vanilla Sky" in 2000, and the pair started dating in 2001, as per People . While there was media speculation that the couple were expecting a child and had plans on tying the knot, nothing of the sort happened, and their relationship was mainly private.

By March 2004, Cruise and Cruz called it quits, with a source revealing to People, "The relationship just ran its course and they decided not to be girlfriend and boyfriend anymore. Through most of the relationship they were both shooting movies in separate parts of the world."

Nazanin Boniadi

Though Cruise's relationship with Boniadi was short-lived, it was later revealed to be under unusual circumstances. According to a 2012 Vanity Fair story, Boniadi was one of several actors that were misled by Scientologist leaders to audition for a "special project" which required a makeover, training, and confidentiality agreements. Allegedly, the project was actually a quest from leaders in the organisation to find Cruise another girlfriend after his split from Kidman.

In 2004, Boniadi was chosen to be Cruise's girlfriend, and within a month, the couple were living together. The relationship came to an end, however, after a meeting with Cruise and the Church of Scientology leader David Miscavige. According to Business Insider , the event that ended their brief fling involved a misunderstanding between Boniadi and Miscavige. "Overcome by a severe headache, Nazanin had a hard time understanding Miscavige, which infuriated him. The next day, Cruise — inches from her face — pounded on the table and screamed at her for insulting the head of the church," said Alex Gibney in the HBO documentary "Going Clear."

"Two weeks later, church henchman Tommy Davis delivered the news to Nazanin that her relationship with Cruise was over," the documentary revealed.

Katie Holmes

Following his breakup from Boniadi, Cruise met Holmes in April 2005, and started dating the "Dawson's Creek" star that same month, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter . Just one month after their romance started, Cruise notoriously professed his love for Holmes in an interview with Oprah Winfrey in May 2005, which many still associate with the actor even years after it took place. In June 2005, Holmes converted from Catholicism to the Church of Scientology, and the pair got engaged that same month.

By October 2005, Holmes and Cruise announced that they were expecting their first child together, and on 18 April, 2006, they welcomed their daughter, Suri, into the world. The pair, dubbed "TomKat," eventually tied the knot in November 2006, and went on to garner intense media attention throughout the duration of the marriage.

Despite appearing strong on the outside, the couple's relationship was dwindling behind the scenes. In June 2012, Holmes filed for divorce from Cruise, with her rep telling outlets at the time (via Us Weekly ), "This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family. Katie's primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter's best interest." A rep for Cruise on the other hand issued a separate statement, which read, "Kate has filed for divorce and Tom is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children. Please allow them their privacy."

Hayley Atwell

Cruise met Atwell on the set of "Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning Part One" in 2020. Though the pair have neither confirmed nor denied being in a relationship, there have been fierce rumours about a romance between the co-stars. According to The Sun , the two began dating shortly after meeting on set, but kept their relationship under wraps. From that point on, they had an on-again, off-again relationship, and ultimately called it quits in June 2022, with a source close to the two telling The Sun, "They get on really well, and have fantastic chemistry, which is why they decided to quietly give the relationship another try earlier this year. But what was working behind closed doors didn't work out so well when it was made public, and the fanfare around them as a couple exploded again . . . They have now decided they are better as friends."

Tom Cruise reportedly has a new girlfriend.

The “Top Gun: Maverick” star, 61, has been “growing closer” to Russian socialite Elsina Khayrova, 36, over the past couple of months and is now officially dating her, the Daily Mail reports.

“It’s well known within Elsina’s circle that she and Tom are now an item,” an insider told the outlet.

“They’ve grown very close over the past few weeks but take a lot of care not to be photographed together because they want to maintain their privacy,” the source continued.

“Tom has been staying the night at Elsina’s apartment, which as you can imagine, is a very beautiful place. They enjoy hanging out together and despite their wealth, do a lot of the things that normal couples do.”

The pair both attended a gala dinner in support of London’s Air Ambulance Charity, where Prince William was the guest of honor.

Though Cruise and Khayrova arrived separately, friends told the outlet that it’s not a surprise, as they’ve been spending most of their time behind closed doors at her multimillion-dollar apartment in Knightsbridge, London.

Page Six has contacted Cruise’s rep for comment but did not immediately hear back.

They were first  romantically linked  after reportedly canoodling at a party in London’s ritzy Mayfair neighborhood in December.

“They were inseparable, clearly a couple. He seemed to be besotted with her,” an eyewitness told the Daily Mail at the time.

The “Jack Reacher” actor has previously said “I do” three times.

He was married to Mimi Rogers from 1987 to 1990, Nicole Kidman from 1990 to 2001 and Katie Holmes from 2006 to 2012.

Khayrova, for her part, split from ex-husband Dmitry Tsetkov in 2022.

The Russian oligarch, 43, spoke to the tabloid in December about their bitter three-year divorce battle, which he claims cost him more than $150 million.

“Irrespective of whoever she’s with, Tom Cruise or anybody else, they should be aware that she likes the finer things in life and has expensive and luxurious taste. Tom should keep his eyes and wallet wide open,” he said.

He added, “I’m happy for her, I wish her all the best.”

Cher Opens Up About Her Famous Past Lovers, Including Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer

The 72-year-old singer also gets candid about her face lift.

The 72-year-old music icon gets candid about her past relationships in a new tell-all interview with the  Mail on Sunday . The Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again star first touches on her romance with actor Tom Cruise, who she met in 1985 at Sean Penn and Madonna’s wedding and started dating that same year. 

After their initial introduction, the pair reunited at a White House event, and Cher recalls how the two bonded. “A bunch of people who were dyslexic were invited to the White House, and Tom and I are both dyslexic,” she says. "We didn’t go out till way later, but there definitely was a connection there.”

She adds that she’s still friends with Cruise, noting, "Though I don’t get what he does, that whole Scientology thing. I can’t understand it so I just… don’t.”

Back in June, Cher played "Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts"   on  The Late Late Show With James Corden,  where she was asked to name her top four best lovers in addition to Cruise, who she’d named previously. Refusing to do so, she opted to eat a dried caterpillar instead. 

However, she isn't shy about discussing her love life in this most recent interview.

Cher also dated Cruise's Top Gun co-star, Val Kilmer, from 1982 to 1984, and from what she describes, the actor is a great kisser. “When we kissed, I thought my head would shoot right off my body," she remembers.

As for KISS rocker Gene Simmons, who she dated from 1977 to 1980, Cher says he's “the one I’m crazy about,” but credits David Geffen, who she was with from 1973 to 1974, for helping to keep her off the “street.” 

She goes on to call Rob Camilletti, a bagel baker who is 18 years her junior that she dated from 1986 to 1989, "possibly the one true love of my life.”

Cher isn’t quite as complimentary when it comes to her former husbands. 

The chart-topping singer spoke of the late Gregg Allman, who she was married to from 1975 to 1979, saying, "It was really intense, but it’s hard to have a marriage with someone who’s doing drugs… Drugs and I were just never meant to be together. I thought it was stupid and still do. I saw too many people where it ruined their lives. It ruined Gregory’s life.”

As for the late Sonny Bono, who Cher was married to from 1969 to 1975, she says he treated her “more like a golden goose” than a wife, adding, “We had a weird relationship. I don’t expect anybody to understand it.” 

These days Cher is single and admits that she finds it hard to date. 

"Not this week. I’m still on the lookout,” she teases. "The problem I have with all the boyfriends lately is that I don’t want to go any place with them because you can’t keep a relationship going in this kind of goldfish bowl, where everything you do and every picture you have taken will be on Instagram. There’s no way to keep something special."

Cher also doesn't shy away from discussing her plastic surgery, which she’s been open about in the past. "Yes, I’ve had a face lift, but who hasn’t?” she quips.

Tom Cruise Is Once Again Rumored to Be Dating His Mission: Impossible Costar

Tom Cruise is once again rumored to be romantically involved with someone he met on the set of the Mission: Impossible franchise.

This time, the actor is said to be dating his costar in the film’s seventh iteration, Hayley Atwell. In photos published by The Sun , the pair were spotted holding hands at a recent London screening, as well as in between shooting scenes, kicking off speculation they’re officially an item. According to a source who spoke to The Sun , “Lockdown, and all the difficulties that came with it, brought them even closer and they’ve become fairly inseparable.” They added, “They’ve been meeting up after hours, and she’s been to his London pad. They get on brilliantly, and both seem very happy.”

While Cruise and Atwell could very well have a burgeoning new romance, this is hardly the first time the action star has been linked to someone he was starring opposite. In fact, this isn’t even the first time he’s been linked to a woman on this particular Mission: Impossible set. It was previously reported that Cruise and his other costar Vanessa Kirby had off-the-charts chemistry during both this most recent shoot and during 2018’s Mission: Impossible – Fallout, in which she plays his love interest. Kirby firmly denied the rumors during a 2018 interview with The View .

There were also stories about Cruise “falling for” his skydiving instructor Sian Stokes during filming. And then there are the recent rumors about Cruise’s off-screen love life, tying him to Elizabeth Moss and Michelle Dockery . So basically, if you’re a woman anywhere within Cruise’s vicinity, chances of dating rumors are extremely high.

Marriage to Nicole Kidman

Tom Cruise was in the process of divorcing first wife Mimi Rogers   when he met Nicole Kidman   making the racing movie  Days of Thunder  in early 1990. He proposed to the Australian actress once he was officially single and they tied the knot that year on Christmas Eve.

"It was that special connection when you recognize your soul mate," Tom told Vanity Fair   in 1994. "She is a person who understands. It was as if a whole new life had started for me."

They announced their divorce in January 2001, which, according to Nicole, came as a surprise.

"I'm starting to understand now [why we broke up]," she told  Vanity Fair  toward the end of 2002. "At the time I didn't."

Her ex, meanwhile, had told the publication earlier that year, "She knows why, and I know why. She's the mother of my children, and I wish her well. And I think that you just move on. And I don't say that lightly. I don't say that with anything."

Isabella Cruise

Tom and Nicole adopted their eldest child, Isabella , when she was born on Dec. 22, 1992.

Admittedly "scared to death" the first time he changed a diaper, Tom told  VF  in 1994 that he and Nicole "talked about children from time to time, but there was always the work. But then we went, When is it ever going to be the right time? That's how the conversation started. You're lying in bed at night and you're trying to sleep, so you roll over and you go, What would happen if we had this in our life?... One of the things that Nic and I talk about is that now suddenly we're a family ."

Nicole said they definitely planned on having more kids, whether by birth or adoption, preferably both.

"Isabella was meant for us," she told the magazine. "I think when things come into your life at a certain time you have to take them. It's destiny."

She later revealed to  VF  in 2007 that they decided to adopt after she lost a pregnancy. "From the minute Tom and I were married, I wanted to have babies," she said. "And we lost a baby early on, so that was really very traumatic. And that's when we would adopt Bella." 

"There's a complicated background to that," she added, "given that I never speak much about many things. One day maybe that story will be told."

Isabella, an artist and graduate of London's Delamar Academy of Make-Up and Hair, lives in England with husband  Max Parker . 

It raised a few eyebrows when the bride's parents didn't attend the couple's 2015 wedding at the Dorchester hotel in London.

"Of course, they're my parents," she fired back at Daily Mail Online when the newlywed was asked if she spoke to Tom and Nicole. "Anyone who says otherwise is full of s--t."

Moreover, only a few close friends attended and the groom's parents weren't there, either, his mom Beverly Parker telling the Mail they stayed away to avoid "a media circus." Calling the pair "lovely," she said, "I'm very pleased for them both and they're very happy."

Max told the publication that "you could say" his wife had foregone the spotlight, but it was "more of a weird situation for everyone else" than it was for them. 

Meanwhile, sources told  People that Tom approved of Max, was OK with not being there and he paid for the wedding, while Nicole was just glad her daughter seemed happy.

Connor Cruise

Connor rounded out the family when he was adopted at birth on Jan. 17, 1995. He's a musician and DJ, and reportedly lives in Miami.

Nicole married Keith Urban  in 2006 and they share daughters Sunday Rose , born July 7, 2008, and Faith Margaret , born via gestational surrogate Dec. 28, 2010.

Reflecting on how Connor and Isabella chose to live with their dad after the divorce, she told HELLO! , "I'd love them to live with us, but what can you do?" (They did attend the Kidman-Urban nuptials in Australia.)

Talking to Now to Love in 2014, Nicole called Isabella and Connor "generous, kind and hardworking," all "traits that I love to see in my children."

Several years later she acknowledged that both of her older kids were practicing Scientologists, like their father, but—contrary to rumors that religion had driven a wedge between them—that was neither here nor there.

"They are adults," the Oscar winner told Australia's  Who   in 2018. "They are able to make their own decisions. They have made choices to be Scientologists and as a mother, it's my job to love them."

And, like his sister, Connor has never said a cross word about his mom.

"I love my mum," he told Australia's Woman's Day  in 2014 while in town to deejay at a festival. "I don't care what people say, I know that me and mum are solid. I love her a lot. My family means everything."

He also loved music, he added, "but the family comes before everything else."

Marriage to Katie Holmes

Tom was in a sharing mood when he started dating the  Dawson's Creek  alum in 2005, boisterously telling Oprah Winfrey   and her sofa that he was in love with the actress.

"Here's the thing, you can't think about it in terms of what people are going to do or say," he told MTV News that June of the PR perils of wearing his heart on his sleeve. "It's 'I want to share my life with this woman. This woman is exceptional, she's special, she's extraordinary and I have great respect for her.' It's someone who's saying 'I've got nothing to hide, I'm happy.' I'm happy, man!"

The Top Gun star proposed atop the Eiffel Tower in June 2005, reportedly within eight weeks of their first date.

Their lavish Nov. 18, 2006, nuptials were held at the 15th-century Odescalchi Castle in Bracciano, Italy. Suri, Connor and Bella were in attendance, along with the likes of the Beckhams, Jennifer Lopez  and then-husband Marc Anthony , Will Smith  and Jada Pinkett Smith , and Brooke Shields  and spouse  Chris Henchy .

Suri Cruise

Tom and Katie's daughter was born April 18, 2006. 

The  October 2006 cover of  Vanity Fair , first revealed on the CBS Evening News  Sept. 5, introduced Suri to the world. The portrait by Annie Leibovitz featured the 3-month-old tucked into her dad's leather aviator jacket, an homage to Linda McCartney 's famous shot of  Paul McCartney with their baby daughter Mary  from his 1970 album  McCartney .

"She's a glorious girl," Katie told the magazine. "She's the miracle of our life."

Tom shared that they found the name in a baby book sent to them by friends and just loved it. "We later found out that it meant 'red rose,' and that was just a bonus," he added. "Suri—it was perfect."

The article noted that the family, including Conor and Bella, were all gathered cozily at Tom's house in Telluride (which he sold in 2021 for $39.5 million).

"It's really special to see them holding their little sister," Katie said. "To hear them talk about all of the fun things they are going to do together." Added Tom, "It's very moving to me too. I look at those moments of watching Bella and Connor grow up and you get a sense of what kind of people they are going to be as adults."

Katie filed for divorce in June 2012, her attorney saying in a statement her "primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter's best interest."

Tom's rep told E! News that he "is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children."

The proceedings were settled relatively quickly , with both sides agreeing on Suri living primarily with her mom  while her dad got generous visitation rights. Katie started splitting time between New York and L.A. and resettled Suri on the East Coast for school. 

The  Batman Begins  actress set about giving her kid the most normal life possible, ferrying her to school and gymnastics like any other Manhattan mom. While the paparazzi never stopped clicking away, Katie shared only a handful of glimpses of Suri on social media over the years. But they also were seen at sporting events and have made many a pilgrimage to Broadway  to catch a show.

"My child is the most important person to me, and her upbringing is paramount to my work right now," she told Town & Country  in 2017 . "It's very important that I'm present and she has a stable, innocent childhood. I feel so blessed to do what I do, but there's nothing in the world better than watching your child succeed."

At the same time, she said, "Every day, kids get a little further away from you. That's a positive thing. They should be becoming more independent, but it's heartbreaking."

Suri may not have caught the acting bug yet, but she did sing the cover of "Blue Moon" that opens Alone Together , the rom-com her mom was inspired to write during the pandemic and then also starred in and directed. Suri also provided a vocal for her movie  Rare Objects .

"I hope she always does something on my films," Katie told Glamour  in March 2023. "I always ask her. But both of those experiences came out of the same sense of what I love about our industry, which is, you have these projects and you become a family with people. And it's this safe, beautiful, creative space."

With Suri about to turn 17 at the time, she noted, "What has been really important for me with my daughter, because she was so visible at a young age, is I really like to protect her. I'm very grateful to be a parent, to be her parent. She's an incredible person."

During their 11-year marriage, Tom and Nicole also starred in the 1999 film  Eyes Wide Shut  together, which Nicole, 54, looked back on fondly in a 2020 New York Times   interview. “We were happily married through that. We would go go-kart racing after those scenes. We’d rent out a place and go racing at 3 in the morning,” she said.

After 11 years together, the couple broke up, and Tom filed for divorce in February 2001. The model and actress told Entertainment Weekly more about that experience on Wednesday in Los Angeles, as she promoted her new nuptials-centered Netflix movie, Mother of the Bride . "Of course, I was gonna say yes to that," Shields says in a video (above). "I was like, 'Yes. I will — as long as I'm not the something old!'"

According to Shields, Holmes then made a request. "She goes, 'Oh, will you?' And I said, 'What? Bring myself as the something old?'"

"I had to, like, hunt antique places," Shields said, "to find the perfect, you know, gift to give her."

Shields eventually found something appropriate — and Victorian.

"It was a little compact that you put a ring…, " Shields said. "So you're supposed to be able to look at their reflection in it and have it around their finger."

She added, "It was really beautiful."

What ended up not being so beautiful was the relationship between the bride and groom. They infamously split in June 2012 .

Shields has been a pop culture staple since the '70s, when the model began her acting career in movies such as Pretty Baby , The Blue Lagoon , and Endless Love. In her latest project, Shields plays Lana, whose daughter, Emma ( Miranda Cosgrove ), announces that she's getting married — in only a month! She's also coupled up with the son of Lana's ex, who broke her heart years ago.

Per HelloMagazine , Suri acted in a play with a local theater company, who did a rendition of the iconic play Head Over Heels , which is a comedy musical that utilizes the catalog of The Go-Go's. It ran from May 3-5. Suri played the role of Philoclea in two shows that weekend, who is the King's daughter in love with her childhood friend. (We will not be linking directly to the company to obtain some form of privacy for Suri).

Now, when you look at the billing, you can see Suri's name, but instead of "Suri Cruise," it's Suri Noelle.

This isn't the first time she's gone by this stage name of using her middle name, and it shows that she potentially feels two things. She could feel that she doesn't want to be defined by her Hollywood status, and that she may not want Tom to have anything to do with her time acting.

It seems like she's making a killing in acting, and we can't wait to see what blossoms for Suri Noelle.

For those who don't know, Holmes and Tom started dating in early 2005, and within a year, they welcomed their daughter Suri Cruise on April 2006 (and married seven months later). Later, Holmes filed for divorce from Tom in 2012, and since then, Suri has reportedly been estranged from Tom, and this latest move proves their lack of a bond.

Per DailyMail , the 18-year-old is considering majoring in either music or fashion when she enters college, but maybe that'll change to acting? Any way she goes, we're sure she'll be great at it!

As Suri Cruise reached her 18th birthday, rumours have swirled that she is no longer in contact with her famous dad Tom Cruise .

Suri celebrated her big day with her mum, Katie Holmes , spending the afternoon shopping in the New York sunshine.

Tom, 61, was nowhere to be seen and is currently filming for a new project in London with no word on whether he sent any birthday wishes.

Their relationship is said to be so strained that Suri has decided to ditch her last name, going instead by Suri Noelle — her mother’s middle name.

In 2016, a US outlet reported the teenager  has a huge rift with her father and the pair have not been in contact for years.

Tom, who has two more children, hasn’t been pictured with Suri for years but is believed to have been paying child support as per his and Katie’s divorce settlement.

Was Tom Cruise involved in Suri’s childhood?

In April 2006, Katie and Tom revealed to the world they had welcomed a baby girl and five months later they graced the cover of Vanity Fair with Suri in their arms.

They married in a Scientologist church months later and lots of pictures of Tom out and about carrying his newborn cropped up.

‘My whole life I always wanted to be a father,’ he gushed to the publication at the time, having adopted Connor and Isabella with Nicole Kidman previously.

‘I always said to myself that my children would be able to depend on me and I would always be there for them and love them — that I’d never make a promise to my kids that I couldn’t keep.’

Things seemed to be going swimmingly until six years later when the Dawson’s Creek star filed for divorce while Tom was away filming Oblivion.

When was Tom Cruise last seen with Suri?

Around the time of the divorce was the last time Tom was publicly pictured with Suri, taking her to Disney World in 2012.

At the time, a spokesperson for the Top Gun star said: ‘Kate has filed for divorce and Tom is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children.’

The high profile split was said to be in part due to Katie’s fears around Scientology, after members of the group moved into their home.

Speaking to  the Daily Mail before his death, founder Ron Miscavige said the decision ‘didn’t sit so well with Katie, of course, and it hurt the marriage.’

When the divorce was settled, the Batman Begins star was granted sole custody plus $400,000 (£315,456) per year in child support until Suri turned 18.

It’s reported that Tom has not seen Suri in the 10 years since, with the pair being no contact for the last three years.

A source told Heat magazine: ‘Tom is feeling guilty about missing so much of her life, but insists that he hasn’t completely shut Suri out of his life, and does get updates from time to time.’

Has Katie Holmes said anything about Suri and Tom’s relationship?

Katie has not commented on Tom’s relationship with their daughter but has been incredibly open about how protective she feels over Suri’s privacy.

‘What has been really important for me with my daughter, because she was so visible at a young age, is I really like to protect her,’ she told Glamour last year.

‘I’m very grateful to be a parent, to be her parent. She’s an incredible person.’

‘I love her so much,’ the mom-of-one told InStyle in 2020. ‘My biggest goal has always been to nurture her into her individuality, to make sure she is 100 percent herself and strong, confident and able.

‘And to know it. She came out very strong — she’s always been a strong personality.’
