Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour First Reviews: Don't Miss It, Even If You Saw the Live Show

Swifties rejoice critics say the pop icon's record-breaking concert on the big screen offers the best seat in the house and spectacularly captures the magic and energy of the show..

Here’s what critics are saying about Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour :

Does it live up to the hype?

“It gives the audience directly what they want: the ability to experience Eras in a theater with the best seat in the house.” – Kristen Lopez, The Wrap
“The singer promised that she would work to bring the tour to as many people as humanly possible. Overall, that’s exactly what she’s accomplished with Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour .” – Katie Campione, Deadline Hollywood Daily
“The film more than justifies the hype and rather than a rushed cash-in, Swift has gifted her fans a spectacular, lovingly crafted movie that somehow captures everything great about the live show.” – Keiran Southern, Times (UK)
“Serious fans know the setlist by heart: This might be the most spoiler-proof blockbuster of all time.” – Chris Willman, Variety
“Filled with both spectacle and strikingly intimate moments, The Eras Tour is almost too much of a good thing — so many hits, so many memorable set pieces, so many peaks.” – Tim Grierson, Screen International

Does it accurately convey the Eras Tour experience?

“ Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour radiates the same energy that reverberated through the stands each night, complete with the deafening sound of the crowd. Expect to leave the theater with your ears ringing.” – Katie Campione, Deadline Hollywood Daily
“Though it isn’t possible for a movie to take the place of a live concert, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour comes as close as possible, less because of how the movie is captured and more in how fans are going to interact with it.” – Philip Cosores, Uproxx
“At my premiere screening, The Eras Tour played less like a film than an extension of the concert experience: Audience members sang along and danced in the aisle and cheered so loudly I often couldn’t tell where the roar of the crowd onscreen ended and the roar of the crowd in the theater began.” – Angie Han, Hollywood Reporter
“Director Sam Wrench hasn’t really messed with what millions have already seen on stage (or watched via bootleg fan live streams) this past spring and summer, apart from the addition of digital title cards that make it clear to less devoted viewers which ‘era’ is being entered into.” – Chris Willman, Variety
“The runtime sails, especially as it doesn’t have the downtime you’d experience at an actual concert. Swift and Wrench have done something truly special with the Eras film and that is making a colorful celebration of music and, unintentionally, cinema.” – Kristen Lopez, The Wrap
“It’s impressive that The Eras Tour manages to fit in roughly 40 songs in the span of 169 minutes. As with many massive stadium shows, the film can occasionally be exhausting, the prolonged high levels of technical mastery risking becoming monotonous.” – Tim Grierson, Screen International

How is the concert itself, for those who missed it (or didn’t try) the first time, live?

“A staggering feat. In the space of one seamless performance, Swift is at turns a playfully eccentric artist, a country star and a genuine pop icon. Yet for all the spectacle, it might be those acoustic songs that linger longest in the memory.” – Kevin EG Perry, NME (New Musical Express
“Whether you were at the concert or seeing it for the first time, Swift put on a show that dazzles, amazes, and enchants… Hits like ‘Shake It Off’ and ‘Cruel Summer’ are present and accounted for, but it’s wonderful to get to see how Swift plays with her audience and plays different characters during the performance.” – Kristen Lopez, The Wrap
“To see all the chapters of her career laid out next to each other is to marvel at how much she’s transformed herself over the years.” – Angie Han, Hollywood Reporter
“Unless you’re a devoted fan, concert films can be a rather dreary experience but the sheer spectacle and energy of the film is enough to convert even the most rabid anti-Swiftite.” – Lina Das, Daily Telegraph (UK)

Does the film offer more than what fans saw live?

“Aside from a few onstage ‘bloopers’ over the closing credits, there’s next to nothing in the way of supplementary material — no interviews, no behind-the-scenes footage, no commentary on what any of this means.” – Angie Han, Hollywood Reporter
“It is nice watching the end credits where Swift fans are shown alongside moments where Swift endures costume malfunctions.” – Kristen Lopez, The Wrap
“Wrench and cinematographer Brett Turnbull don’t avoid the obvious shots, but they also have some wrinkles up their sleeves that startle you out of any sense you’re just watching those concert screens redux.” – Chris Willman, Variety

Should fans who went to the live show still see the film?

“Even if you have been treated to the live show, The Eras Tour still gives everyone in the audience a chance to experience every song from the best seat in the house. You’ll get up close and personal with Swift and also see sweeping shots that put the stage’s stunning visuals on full display.” – Katie Campione, Deadline Hollywood Daily
“Even the best seats in a stadium could provide only so much detail. But on the big screen, the close-ups are glorious, whether zooming in on Swift’s cat-eye makeup outlining her crystal blue eyes, the moss covering her piano and the sweat sticking to her bangs during ‘Champagne Problems’ and her meticulous table setting at the start of ‘Tolerate It.’” – Melissa Ruggieri, USA Today
“You can see literally every sequin and bead. One of several reasons to see Eras in a theater, to take in the detail of the massive undertaking that is Swift’s tour.” – Kristen Lopez, The Wrap
“The big-screen treatment allows fans who have seen the live show a chance to take in details of the performances and production that get easily obscured by the overwhelming nature of live music.” – Philip Cosores, Uproxx
“In IMAX, the film makes excellent use of large-format screens, especially when Wrench shows Swift as a rather small speck in a sea of fans, their cellphone lights illuminating the darkness.” – Tim Grierson, Screen International

Taylor Swift in Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour (2023)

Is it possible the film is actually better than the live experience?

“ The Eras Tour has enough confidence to let the hard work that went into the tour’s design speak for itself, although Wrench’s camera puts the viewer much closer to the action that most ticket holders would have enjoyed at the actual show.” – Tim Grierson, Screen International
“Obviously, fans get a lot more really, really close face-time with Swift, to the point where they might ask questions like: How is it possible that her hair gets a little moist, but we never see her actually break a sweat?” – Chris Willman, Variety

Is the film missing anything that might disappoint fans?

“The concert film is not a completely unexpurgated version of the show; the first viewers to see the movie quickly realized, to the chagrin of many, that a few numbers were cut, including ‘Cardigan’ and, as seen in the final stretch of the tour, the Haim collaboration ‘No Body, No Crime.’” – Chris Willman, Variety
“It’s sure to come as a disappointment to many, as it did for me, that about one or two songs from each era were sacrificed, likely for the sake of time… The decision is understandable, given the constraints of theatrical releases, but some of the choices felt a bit odd.” – Katie Campione, Deadline Hollywood Daily
“It skips a handful of songs, including ‘The Archer’ and ‘Cardigan.’ But what remains is more than enough to leave the most hardcore Swiftie spent with delight.” – Angie Han, Hollywood Reporter

The Eras Tour — which is technically only halfway done at this point — has already been one of the biggest tours of all time. The hype was astronomical from the moment Swift announced the trek (her first since the 2018 Reputation tour ) in late 2022 on the heels of her latest album, Midnights. (Seriously, when the dates were announced, several people were forced to consider whether it was worth it to reschedule their own weddings ).

Despite this early hiccup, once the Eras Tour got underway in March 2023, it was an unstoppable force. You can check out Rolling Stone ’s list of the top 25 moments from the tour (so far), but to name a few highlights, there were special duets with Phoebe Bridgers , Aaron Dessner , Marcus Mumford , and Ice Spice ; a first performance of “Dear John” in 11 years ; and dramatic unveilings of not one, but two , “Taylor’s Version” albums, Speak Now and 1989 .

And as if Swift wasn’t already busy enough, the singer also recently announced the release announced the release of  1989 (Taylor’s Version)  at her final Los Angeles Eras Tour show earlier this month. “To be perfectly honest, this is my most FAVORITE re-record I’ve ever done because the 5 From the Vault tracks are so insane,” she wrote on Instagram later. “I can’t believe they were ever left behind. Everything You'll Want to Know About Taylor Swift's Eras Tour Concert Film

Swifties rejoice: you can finally relive the Eras Tour in your living room.

the eras concert tour film

I am a die-hard Swiftie . Over the past decade of my life, I've analyzed her endless Easter eggs, had Taylor top my Spotify Wrapped for years, and you better believe I checked out the Eras Tour this summer. The concert was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. I made and traded friendship bracelets with fellow Swifties and sang every word to every song while I was at the show. I even went to the Eras Tour concert film and relived every second of the extravaganza.

Swift's highly anticipated concert flick premiered in theaters earlier this fall, and it smashed records. CNBC  reported  that it's the highest-grossing domestic concert film ever, bringing in between $95 million and $97 million. Recently, Swift announced that the Eras Tour will be coming to living rooms, as the film has been released for rent on several on-demand services.

If you got snubbed in that Ticketmaster debacle , or if you just want to relive the magic that was the Eras Tour, I've got you covered with all the important information you'll want to know before attending from the comfort of your own home.

For more entertainment-related fare, here are  10 things you can do to save money on streaming , and here are the best smart TVs of 2023 .

What is the Eras Tour?

Swift's stadium tour swept through more than a dozen US cities plus Mexico City this summer. The Eras Tour is a love letter to her impressive musical career and the fans who have seen her through it. The numbers indicate the tour draws massive public appeal. The tour is projected to gross $1 billion , including Swift's overseas tour next spring.

That billion dollars is, by all accounts, a fantastic measure of Swift's power, but it doesn't even account for the thousands of fans who attended her concerts from parking lots and bridges outside of the concert venues this year. Already, Swift's journey around the US has proved an economic boon to host cities.

So, what is the Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert film?

Filmed over her Los Angeles dates at the SoFi stadium, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour is a two-hour, 45-minute chronicle of her hit tour. For fans who are familiar with the tour, this raises some questions as to what has been cut from the film. The concert I attended ran for about 3 hours, but by the end of the tour, it was about three and a half hours long. Curious fans finally have their answers.

The film had its premiere on Oct. 11, and we finally know what's been cut. Be warned, I'm going to get into some major spoilers for the concert film, so if you want to be surprised while you watch, just skip this section.

It looks like Swift has nixed five songs from the setlist she performed the nights she recorded the film. Entertainment Weekly reports that the songs No Body, No Crime; Long Live; Wildest Dreams; The Archer and Cardigan were all cut from the concert film. Fans of Long Live do have some recompense; it plays over tour bloopers and videos of fans during the credits.

Of the six surprise songs she recorded (Swift performs these during the rotating acoustic portion of the show), the songs Our Song and You're On Your Own, Kid ended up making the final cut. Fans can also expect to see shortened costume changes and transitions between Swift's different eras in the film.

How long is Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert film in theaters?

Swift's concert film hit theaters worldwide on Oct. 13. According to Insider, the film had to be shown in theaters for four weeks following its release. Insider said Swift circumvented Hollywood studios and negotiated the film's distribution directly with AMC, allowing her to have more control. Time has reported that Swift's concert film has brought home an impressive $248.9 million at the box office, cementing itself as the highest-grossing concert film at the US box office. Given this accomplishment, it's safe to say the concert film will be hanging around theaters for a while.

How can I get Swift movie tickets?

You can buy tickets to the concert film where you would ordinarily buy tickets to most movies, either online or at an in-person box office.

Swift's website has links to sites where you can buy tickets through AMC, Regal, Cinemark and Fandango. You could check your local indie theater's website too, to see whether it's showing the concert film.

Fan reaction to ticket sales was swift (pardon the pun). Wanda Gierhart Fearing,  Cinemark 's chief marketing and content officer, told me that the company saw "frenzied traffic to [its] website and app the moment tickets went on sale" and that "we are ready for Swifties to be enchanted by this concert film in the unprecedented number of auditoriums we have booked to meet demand."

How much do tickets cost?

Adult tickets go for $19.89, which is a nod to the year of Swift's birth and the title of her fifth studio album, 1989. Fans also know that the album 1989 is about to get the Taylor's Version treatment, with the artist's rerecording of the album dropping 14 days after the film hits theaters. Seniors and children's tickets go for $13.13, a nod to Swift's lucky number.

Right now, it's unclear whether subscribers to paid theater subscriptions like Regal Unlimited will be able to use the deals available to them on tickets for this film, given the special pricing. In a FAQ on AMC's website, the company said that this film is excluded from the company's A-List program's reservation feature.

Cinemark confirmed to CNET that members of the Cinemark Movie Club can apply all standard benefits of the membership.

Can I treat this like a normal concert?

While a concert film can be exciting and almost feel like a real concert, it's best practice to be respectful of other theatergoers both in your showing and in other showings at the theater.

This doesn't mean you can't keep up with other Eras Tour practices, like wearing a fun costume based on Swift's songs and lyrics or making and trading friendship bracelets with other Swifties. You could even quietly sing along and dance in your seat, as long as you're considerate of viewers around you and don't interrupt others' viewing experience.

If you're attending the film at an AMC theater, then you're in luck. The company has provided you with guidelines for how to behave during the film -- and it all boils down to being respectful of those around you.

I saw the concert film at an indie theater, and in my experience, people were pretty quiet during the film. There was no singing loud enough for me to detect, and the only people who danced in my theater were several smaller children. Based on my experience, I recommend going in with the expectation of watching this film just like you would any other movie.

If you just have to sing and dance along to all of your favorite Taylor Swift hits (which I totally understand the urge to do) you do have some options. In a press release distributed to CNET, Cinemark announced Private Swiftie Parties -- an extension of its Private Watch Parties offering -- that allow fans to reserve an entire auditorium for singing and dancing. In the release, Fearing said "our larger-than-life screens and captivating surround sound deliver a most enchanting environment to sing and dance along with friends and family to the concert of the decade." Right now, these Private Swiftie Parties are on sale on Cinemark's website and app. The watch parties are available at participating locations for $800 and can accommodate up to 40 fans.

How can I watch the concert film at home?

This week, Swift announced that the Eras Tour concert film, extended version, will be available to rent on Dec. 13 (none other than the singer's birthday) on Apple TV, Vudu, Prime Video, Xfinity, Google Play and YouTube. Fans can expect some extra content from the extended version, with previously cut songs Wildest Dreams, The Archer and Long Live being added back in. Renting the concert film will set you back $19.89, and you'll be able to stream the film for 48 hours.

There's not an exact date on when we can expect the concert film on streaming services, although TV Line reports that Swift can't put her concert film on streaming platforms for 13 weeks after the film comes out. Jan. 12, 2024, would be the earliest possible date the film could wind up on a streaming service.

As a seasoned Swiftie, my recommendation is to keep a close eye on any hints Swift might give over the next few months for a streaming release date. Her well-known Easter eggs have given fans clues to album release dates and music video drops, so it's possible she'll use one to reveal the film's streaming debut.

Missed the Eras Tour when it came through your city? Don’t worry, you still have a chance to catch it — but this time, on the big screen.

Taylor Swift announced on Aug. 31 that she’d be bringing her massively popular global trek to AMC theaters all across North America, following the conclusion of its first U.S. leg earlier this month. Sharing an 80-second trailer jam-packed with shots from Swift’s career-spanning stage show, the 33-year-old pop star took to social media to announce the exciting news.

Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras Tour’ Is Officially Coming to Theaters: How to…

“The Eras Tour has been the most meaningful, electric experience of my life so far,” she wrote. “I’m overjoyed to tell you that it’ll be coming to the big screen soon 😆 Eras attire, friendship bracelets, singing and dancing encouraged.”

Just like with the Eras Tour tickets, anticipation for the concert film is so high, Swifties brought down the ticketing app — in this case, the AMC app instead of Ticketmaster — with Swifties tweeting about wait times, and some noting that they couldn’t even get the app to load. Ahead of the concert announcement, the company had even upgraded its website so that it could handle more than five times thelargest ticketing traffic it previously experienced.

“AMC is … aware that no ticketing system in history seems to have been able to accommodate the soaring demand from Taylor Swift fans when tickets are first placed on sale,” the company had said in a statement announcing the concert film, which also warned fans of possible delays and outages of its website.

Keep reading to see everything Billboard knows so far about the Eras Tour concert film, below:

When It Comes Out

Taylor Swift

The Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour   movie arrives in theaters Friday, October 13.

How to Get Tickets

AMC will offer the film in IMAX and Dolby Cinema as well as standard screenings, with fees varying by format and theatre. In anticipation of an expected rush of interest — a.k.a., a repeat of Ticketmaster’s hectic presale roll-out for the U.S. Eras Tour dates — AMC upgraded its website and ticketing engines to handle more than five times the largest influx of ticket-buying traffic ever experienced by the company.

With all that said, standard tickets are $19.89 (plus tax) for adults and $13.13 for children and seniors (plus tax). The film will be available in AMC theaters in the U.S., Canada and Mexico, as well as certain other movie operators that AMC is working as distributor for in those three countries ( Cinemark , Cineplex and Cinepolis).

Every U.S. AMC Theatre location will run the movie at least four times per day on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays while it’s showing.

Tickets are already on sale. Read on for more information on how to get tickets here .

When It Was Filmed, And Where

The Eras Tour film was shot over the course of Swift’s first three shows at SoFi Stadium, where she performed a total of six straight shows in early August. The Los Angeles venue attracted a total of nearly 500,000 fans.

Possible Surprise Songs

The pop star performed a total of six surprise songs during her Aug. 3-5 dates at SoFi, meaning each of them are possible contenders for a featured spot in the film: “I Can See You,” “Maroon,” “Our Song,” “You Are in Love,” “Death by a Thousand Cuts” and “You’re on Your Own, Kid.”

One possible hint as to which of these songs will be included is that the Eras movie trailer shows Swift’s “self-titled” debut as being featured in the film. The sole song from her first album performed at any of the three taped shows was “Our Song,” which cropped up during her acoustic set on Aug. 4.

Plus, against her early tour promise that she wouldn’t repeat any non- Midnights surprise songs, this was Swift’s second time singing “Our Song” during the acoustic section of an Eras show — the first being in Las Vegas in March. Coincidence?

The Runtime

Taylor Swift

An average Eras Tour concert runs for more than three hours, but Swift’s publicist Tree Paine confirmed to Billboard that the concert film has an official runtime of 2 hours, 45 mins.

It’s unclear what parts of Swift’s show her team may have shaved off to get the movie down to a shorter length.

The Director

The Eras Tour film was directed by Sam Wrench, the filmmaker behind past concert movies like Billie Eilish Live at the O2 and  BTS: Permission to Dance . The Grammy-nominated creative specializes in shooting live music content, with a resumé that includes projects for Lizzo, Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, The Weeknd and Mary J. Blige.

There Are Already Easter Eggs

Notice anything odd about those ticket prices?

AMC is charging a standard $19.89 fee (minus tax) for adults, a clear callback to Swift’s 2014 fifth studio album 1989 — which, coincidentally, is also her next “Taylor’s Version” re-record on the docket, with 1989 (Taylor’s Version) arriving this October. Plus, kids and senior tix are priced $13.13, a not-so-subtle reference to Swift’s famous lucky number, 13.

Then, not so much an Easter egg but something worth decoding, Swift included this in her announcement post for the film: “1, 2, 3 LGB!!!! (iykyk).”

Need an explainer? Allow Billboard to translate. Dating back to the Reputation Tour, it’s been a tradition for Swifties to yell “1, 2, 3, let’s go b-tch!” in between the opening refrain and first verse of “Delicate,” which Swift still sings live at the Eras Tour. It all started with a viral video from one fan who originated the phrase, and you can be sure to hear it ripple through the audience in the Eras Tour movie.

It's Going to Be A Full Experience

Taylor Swift

It seems like Swift is doing her best to make the Eras Tour film viewing experience feel as similar as possible to experiencing an actual Eras Tour concert. That’s because she encouraged fans to engage in all the same festivities as they would at a live show when they hit theaters for a screening: “Eras attire, friendship bracelets, singing and dancing encouraged,” she wrote in her announcement for the film.

Inspired by a lyric in Midnights track “You’re on Your Own, Kid,” Swifties have spent the summer exchanging handmade friendship bracelets at Eras Tour shows — even celebrities have gotten in on the trend!

The Song You Probably Won't See

“‘Tis The Damn Season” is usually a fixture in the Evermore set list, but it probably won’t be included in the Eras Tour concert film. That’s because it was replaced with “No Body, No Crime,” which Swift performed with openers HAIM, in all of the performances that were taped for the movie.

The only way you’ll see the fan-favorite soft jam on the big screen is if it was shot at another one of Swift’s shows without anyone noticing.

It's Not Swift's First Documentary

Swifties may remember that this isn’t the “Anti-Hero” singer’s first time in a feature documentary film, and it certainly isn’t the first time she’s put together a concert film for one of her tours.

Taylor Swift | Eras Tour will follow Swift’s Netflix documentary Miss Americana , which came out in 2020. The Lana Wilson-directed project largely captured the star as she was transitioning from her Reputation era to Lover while finding confidence as an activist.

Prior to that, Swift released concert films for her Reputation and 1989 tours, via Netflix and Apple Music, respectively. She also released DVDs of her first two headlining treks before that: 2010’s Journey to Fearless and 2011’s Speak Now World Tour — Live .

How It Got Around The SAG-AFTRA Strike

The Eras Tour film was created at a time when production on almost every other big screen project was halted by the SAG-AFTRA writers’ strike. Rules of the labor strike, which began in July 2023, mandate that no members are allowed to work on or promote any of their films until their demands are met by production companies — so how did Swift’s come together in that time period?

As it turns out, a source close to the Swift film confirmed to  Billboard  that the Eras doc obtained clearance under the SAG-AFTRA interim agreement before filming. The agreement green lights individual non-AMPTP (Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers) productions that meet the standards sought by unions involved in the strike, including scheduled breaks, payment for fittings, meal and wardrobe allowances for principal actors and background actors, per diems, rest periods and more.

Billboard  also confirmed that the Swift film is included under an assumed name on the  list of approved interim agreement projects .

It's Already Breaking Records

Taylor Swift

AMC announced the morning after tickets went on sale that the film event had already broken its single-day advance-ticket sales revenue records . The haul? An astounding $26 million in just 24 hours. The theater chain noted that its the highest advance sales revenue day in the company’s 103-year history. The previous first-24-hours record for AMC was held by 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home , which brought in $16.9 million — an amount that the chain said Swift’s concert film surpassed in the first three hours tickets were on sale.

Surprise songs and what Swifties should expect from Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert film

EW has seen the new movie — we break down what made the cut, what didn't, and more.

the eras concert tour film

Swifties, are you ready for it?

By "it," of course we mean the Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert film , which is now streaming on Disney+ after a theatrical run last fall that earned almost $262 million worldwide. If you missed it then — or just want to watch again and again — here's what you need to know about the concert film.

For instance, the movie, which was filmed across the first three nights of her six-night stop in Los Angeles in August, includes almost all the songs from the Eras Tour setlist as it appeared at that point in time — below, we'll dive into which songs didn't make the final cut like Taylor dove into the trap door of that stage every night.

The film — directed by Sam Wrench, who has worked with everyone from BTS to Lizzo to Billie Eilish , and even American Idol — was a massive box-office success before it even hit theaters, earning more than $100 million in advance global ticket sales, surpassing the entire run of 2011's Justin Bieber: Never Say Never , which previously held the record for highest-grossing concert film with $99 million. Demand was so high, in fact, that prior to the movie's premiere, Swift and theaters agreed to add more early showings.

But, true to form, Swift remained cryptic and Machiavellian about some the film's key points before it opened. For instance, each of the three nights the concert was filmed, she performed two different surprise songs during the acoustic set, meaning there were six different possibilities for the film in that section of the show. Fans speculated for weeks about which two would appear in it, or if Swift would do a shortened medley of all of them, or something else entirely. Fans also wondered if the Eras Tour film would contain bloopers or behind-the-scenes content like the Reputation tour film did? Or maybe she would announce something at the end?

EW attended the world premiere of the Eras Tour concert film in October, where we swapped friendship bracelets and got to shake it off sitting just rows away from Swift as she danced along to the concert. Here's what we learned about the film.

What surprise songs are featured in 'Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour' film?

As mentioned above, Swift performed six different songs during the acoustic "surprise song" section of the setlist while the movie was being filmed. Those six songs are: "I Can See You," "Maroon," "Our Song," "You Are in Love," "Death by a Thousand Cuts," and "You're on Your Own, Kid." Ultimately, just two are in the film: "Our Song" (on guitar) and "You're on Your Own, Kid" (on piano).

Why is the film shorter than the concert? Was anything cut?

Though the massive, career-spanning tour setlist clocks in at over three hours and 15 minutes, the film is only listed at around two hours and 45 minutes. As expected, outfit changes and transitions were shortened. And five songs that she performed at the L.A. shows didn't make the final cut: "No Body, No Crime" with Haim; "Long Live" in the Speak Now era; "Wildest Dreams" from 1989 ; "The Archer" from Lover ; and Folklore's "Cardigan."

Is there a blooper reel or any behind-the-scenes content?

While the L.A. performance of "Long Live" wasn't included, the credits rolled over a recording of the song as we see footage of fans and bloopers from the tour — like Swift's hand getting caught on her dress, and when her dress flew over her head as she twirled.

What is new in the concert film?

The joy you feel watching it over and over again.

When and where is the film streaming?

The concert film was available for VOD rentals on Swift's birthday on Dec. 13, and the new version of the film featured the performances of "Wildest Dreams," "The Archer" and "Long Live" tacked on at the end, but not the other two songs missing from the theatrical version, "No Body No Crime" and "Cardigan." On March 14, the Taylor's Version of the film was released to streaming on Disney+, and this time, it features all of those tracks placed in their rightful order in the setlist, with the exception of "No Body No Crime," presumably since it was a performance with Haim unique to only a small handful of Eras Tour dates, and the concert film is more inclusive of the tour as a whole. The new streaming version also includes all of the surprise songs Swift filmed over the first three nights in L.A. as part of a special "acoustic collection" at the end of the credits. That consisted of "You're On Your Own, Kid," "Our Song," "I Can See You," "Maroon," "You Are in Love," and "Death by a Thousand Cuts."

Find out which songs from the tour setlist were cut

the eras concert tour film

Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour” concert film premiered in October to an enthusiastic crowd of celebrities, fans and of course Taylor’s team, with the star of the film in attendance. As one of the first to see the film, TheWrap got the scoop on which songs from the wildly popular tour made the film, and which songs were cut.

After making speeches in multiple auditoriums for separate audiences, Swift, clad in a sky blue floral-patterned dress (probably in theme for “1989 (Taylor’s Version) with her hair pinned up like the signature bob she had when that album first came out), sat back to enjoy the film’s premiere in one of the IMAX screening rooms with her background vocalists and publicist Tree Paine.

The documentary runs 2 hours and 48 minutes, slightly shorter than Swift’s three-hour setlist and performance, which she has brought to 17 of the United States so far in addition to Mexico. The European leg will kick off in November, with Swift returning for 15 more U.S. shows in October and November of 2024. And now you can rent “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” on digital to watch at home. Read on for the 41 songs that made the cut to truly represent all 10 of Swift’s eras.

With the announcement of Taylor Swift's Eras Tour Movie , many fans want to know the ticket information, release date, streaming platform, and song list. Taylor Swift is a country singer turned pop star with a massive fanbase called Swifties. On March 17, 2023, Swift embarked on a worldwide tour celebrating all her past musical eras. This tour, fittingly called The Eras Tour, broke multiple records for the most attendees, ticket sales, and applause times.

Fans got great news when the pop star announced the upcoming release of Taylor Swift's Eras Tour Movie, officially titled TAYLOR SWIFT | THE ERAS TOUR Concert Film. Considering all of Swift's concerts sold out, leaving many people unable to attend, this movie is expected to bring in a massive audience. Like the tour itself, Swift's concert film broke sales records within the first 24 hours, according to CNN . Here is all the information known about Taylor Swift's Eras Tour Movie.

When Is The Taylor Swift Eras Tour Movie In Theaters

TAYLOR SWIFT: THE ERAS TOUR Concert Film is set to release in U.S., Canadian, and Mexican theaters on October 13, 2023 at most major chains. As of the time of writing, the movie will air in AMC Theatres until November 5. However, this time period may be extended depending on the demand for movie tickets and box office sales. If the initial sales are any indication, this movie will probably stay in theaters for longer than the almost three-week run it is currently slated for.

How To Get Taylor Swift Eras Tour Movie Tickets

The movie TAYLOR SWIFT: THE ERAS TOUR Concert Film will release in AMC, Regal, and Cinemark theaters. AMC Theatres plans to show the film at least four times per day on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at every location across the U.S. Tickets will cost $19.89 for adults and $13.13 for children and seniors, plus tax. Though most of these chains offer loyalty memberships, it appears they will not be applicable to this film. Deadline confirmed that AMC Stubs A-List members will not be able to use their free passes.

Luckily, fans don't have to wait in order to get tickets for Taylor Swift's Eras Tour movie . Tickets went on sale August 31 through websites like Fandango and AMC. Unfortunately, while tickets are already available, fans may experience long periods in queues. According to The Economic Times , the tickets were in such high demand within the first 24 hours that the AMC Theaters app crashed from the influx of traffic.

When Will The Taylor Swift Eras Tour Movie Be On Streaming?

Currently, there is no set streaming release date for TAYLOR SWIFT: THE ERAS TOUR Concert Film . With the movie hitting theaters late this year, it's likely to release on streaming in early 2024. This speculative timeframe is based on a few factors. Firstly, the movie will likely have a short exclusivity period with U.S. movie theaters. Then the film would likely hit international theaters at the end of 2023. This would push a streaming release to 2024.

When the movie does begin streaming, it's likely that Netflix will have exclusive rights to the Eras Tour concert movie. This prediction is based on the fact that Swift previously worked with the company to release her 2020 documentary Miss Americana . On the other hand, the streaming platform HBO Max has a large collection of concert movies, which could make it an appealing option for TAYLOR SWIFT | THE ERAS TOUR Concert Film .

Where Will The Taylor Swift Eras Tour Movie Release Internationally?

As of the time of writing, TAYLOR SWIFT: THE ERAS TOUR Concert Film is only set to release in North American theaters. It's likely that the film will hit international theaters after Swift completes the international leg of her tour. This will keep the show a surprise for everyone who has a ticket. Alternatively, the movie may forgo international theaters altogether and go straight to streaming instead. This would be a missed opportunity considering the U.S. tickets have already set sales records.

Featuring hits from her last 10 albums, the movie takes fans through Swift’s extensive music catalo g, from her debut album to her latest release, Midnights .

While the movie, which was filmed during the first three nights of her six-night stop in Los Angeles , gives Swifties a front-row seat to Swift’s successful Eras Tour, there are several differences from the actual concert.

Notably, due to the shorter runtime (the movie clocks in at 2 hours and 45 minutes, while the concert lasts more than 3 hours and 15 minutes), several songs were cut.

Ahead, here’s everything to know about how the concert film compares to the actual concert, including the key differences.

Warning: major spoilers ahead for Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour Concert Film .

Which songs were cut from the Eras Tour movie setlist?

With the film’s shorter runtime, the biggest question on fans’ minds is: which songs didn't make the cut? When compared to the Los Angeles setlist, the ones that don't seem to be included in the film are: "No Body, No Crime" with Haim, "Long Live," "Wildest Dreams,” The Archer" and "Cardigan."

Since the movie was filmed during the L.A. shows, other songs from the tour that don’t appear include "'Tis the Damn Season," “Nothing New” with Phoebe Bridgers and “Invisible String.” Additionally, the “Seven” interlude was scrapped.

Was anything else cut from the Eras Tour movie?

Kevin Mazur/Getty

Many fans have noted that the transitions between Swift's eras have also been shortened. In particular, it appears that the pianist intro for “Tolerate It” has been cut and the big intro to the Red era has been condensed.

That being said, other notable transitional moments still appear in the film, including the bewitching moment before “Willow” and Swift’s snake entrance before Reputation .

What were the surprise songs for the Eras Tour movie?

While filming the concert movie, Swift performed six different surprise songs during her acoustic setlist, including "I Can See You," "Maroon," "Our Song," "You Are in Love," "Death by a Thousand Cuts" and "You're on Your Own, Kid."

The two that made it in the film are "Our Song" (on guitar) and "You're on Your Own, Kid" (on piano) — fitting choices, as the first song includes her debut album on the setlist and the second song became the unsung anthem of the Eras Tour by inspiring fans to make friendship bracelets with fellow Swifties.

Were there any musical guests in the Eras Tour movie?

Kevin Mazur/TAS23/Getty

The entire concert is just Swift’s setlist and doesn’t include any of her opening acts such as Gracie Abrams, Gayle and Beabadoobee. Additionally, Swift’s performances of "No Body, No Crime" with Haim and “Nothing New” with Phoebe Bridgers are not featured.

Though Swift had several musical guests during her tour , including Jack Antonoff, Aaron Dessner and Ice Spice, none of them are included in the concert film either.

Is there an end-credits scene in the Eras Tour movie?

John Medina/Getty

Unlike Swift’s previous concert films — such as The 1989 World Tour Live released by Apple Music which featured various interviews and backstage footage — Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour Concert Film doesn’t include any bonus material during the course of the movie.

However, the credits, which are set to “Long Live” from Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) , does include some fun footage of fans and bloopers from the concert.

Eagle-eyed viewers of the movie noticed a few of their favorite songs  did not make the cut  in theaters, including the aforementioned three songs and “No Body, No Crime” and “Cardigan.” A TODAY staffer who attended the premiere noted "Long Live" was featured during the credits.

If you're wondering how much it will cost to rent the "Eras Tour" movie, it will come as no surprise that the price is $19.89, "honoring the legendary artist’s birth year and the title of her Grammy Award-winning album '1989,'" according to the press release.

Streaming for the film in additional countries will soon be announced.

The singer also shared the exciting news on  Instagram .

"Hi! Well, so, basically I have a birthday coming up and I was thinking a fun way to celebrate the year we’ve had together would be to make The Eras Tour Concert Film available for you to watch at home!" she wrote.

After announcing over the summer that she would be bringing her “Eras Tour” performance to the big screen, Swift  added additional showings  in the U.S. and Canada for Oct. 12, one day ahead of the film’s premiere, due to “unprecedented demand.”

“I can’t really wrap my head around this but…. Look what you genuinely made me do: Due to unprecedented demand we’re opening up early access showings of The Eras Tour Concert Film on THURSDAY in America and Canada!! As in… TOMORROW. We’re also adding additional showtimes Friday and throughout the weekend,” she said in an Instagram post.

“I can’t thank you enough for wanting to see this film that so vividly captures my favorite adventure I’ve ever been a part of: The Eras Tour. And the best part is, it’s an adventure we’re still on together,” she continued.

Swift’s “Eras Tour” concert film hit the big screen  in more than 100 countries on Oct. 13, and fans who couldn’t snag a ticket to the tour now have a chance to watch the singer’s career-spanning performance in movie theaters across the globe.

Swift announced the "Eras Tour" concert film in August, and less than a month later, AMC said it took less than 24 hours for her film to shatter the company's U.S. record for highest ticket-sales revenue in a single day.

“With such overwhelming demand being evident, it became obvious that there should be an immediate worldwide release of the film,” AMC said in a Sept. 26 press release.

Will fans be able to stream 'Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour'?

Yes, Swifties will be able to rent the film from home starting on the singer's birthday, Dec. 13.

Fans will be able to find the "Eras Tour" movie on digital platforms with rentals available like Amazon Prime Video, Apple, Vudu, Xfinity, YouTube TV and Google TV, according to a press release.

The movie will cost $19.89 to rent (suggested prices may vary by retailer), a nod to Swift's wildly successful  album "1989."

For those interested in seeing the film in theaters, the “Eras Tour” concert film will be showing in more than 4,000 theaters across North America.

It's also set to play in every Odeon Cinemas location in Europe, as well as other theaters across 100 countries worldwide, according to AMC.

Adult tickets will also be priced at $19.89 in the U.S., in a cheeky reference to the  artist's latest rerecorded album , which dropped Oct. 27, while child and senior tickets are $13.13, referencing Swift’s famous lucky number of 13.

The concert film won't be the last chance for Swifties to see the "Eras Tour" in real life either: Swift began the  international leg of the tour  in November, with live performances in South America, Asia, Australia and Europe through August 2024.

The singer also  added additional U.S. and Canadian dates  in late 2024.

Some taylor swift ‘eras tour’ us and canada ticket prices are dropping.

The countdown to the final leg of Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras Tour’ is officially on.

On Oct. 18-20, the 14-time Grammy winner/Travis Kelce girlfriend/Kamala Harris supporter will resume her record-shattering, headline-generating international trek with special guest Gracie Abrams at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium .

After that, she’s slated to hit New Orleans’ Caesars Superdome (Oct. 25-27), Indianapolis’ Lucas Oil Stadium (Nov. 1-3), Toronto’s Rogers Centre (Nov. 14-16, 21-24) and Vancouver’s BC Place Stadium (Dec. 6-8).

Then, that’s it. The ‘Eras Tour’ era of Swift’s career will finally be over.

If you want to be there for the last of the legendary run, last-minute tickets are still available for all 19 remaining North American concerts.

At the time of publication, the lowest price we could find on tickets for any one show was $1,367 USD before fees on Vivid Seats.

Other gigs have seats starting anywhere from $1,371 to $2,092 before fees.

While that sounds particularly expensive, we’re happy to report that prices have dropped almost universally across the board in the US since we last reported on how much tickets cost back in April following the release of “The Tortured Poets Department;” somehow, nearly all Canadian shows are going for more now than they were five months ago.

To find the ‘Eras Tour’ concert that makes the most sense for your schedule — and wallet (!) — we have everything you need to know about the final U.S. and Canada leg of Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras Tour’ below.

All prices listed above are subject to fluctuation.

Taylor Swift tour schedule 2024

A complete calendar including all tour dates, venues and links to the cheapest tickets available versus what they cost on April 19 can be found here (the better price is in bold ):

(Note: The New York Post confirmed all above prices at the publication time. All prices are in US dollars, subject to fluctuation and include additional fees at checkout .)

Vivid Seats is a verified secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

They offer a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and your tickets will be delivered prior to the event.

Still curious about Vivid Seats? You can find an article from their team about why the company is legit here .

Gracie Abrams

The 25-year-old Abrams is the daughter of “Star Trek” film director JJ Abrams and a star in her own right. Her song “I miss you, I’m sorry” has upwards of 100 million streams on Spotify, she opened for Olivia Rodrigo on the 2022 “Sour Tour” and is currently on a tour of her own right now. Not a shabby track record.

Taylor Swift ‘Eras Tour’ news

Our team has been following the ‘Eras Tour’ closely over the past year.

Just a few of the most exciting stories we’ve published include a chat with a Swiftie who  shared some helpful tips  about seeing Taylor live, a report on  dropping ticket prices , and  a list of all the most exciting fan trends .

Taylor Swift new music

Swift’s  “The Tortured Poets Department”  was released at midnight (and 2 a.m.) on Friday, April 19.

While every listener will likely come away with their own favorites, we particularly enjoyed the sleek, synthy “Fortnight,” icy “So Long, London,” anthemic “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart,” bombastic slow build of “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived” and gorgeously arranged “Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus.”

If you want to give it a spin — assuming you’re one of the few people on the planet who hasn’t listened to the overstuffed two-disc record already, that is — you can find “The Tortured Poets Department”  here .

Huge stars on tour in 2024

Although it will cost an arm and a leg (sometimes more!) to see Swift live this year, there are much more affordable — likely stateside — concerts you can attend this year.

Here are just five of our favorite artists you won’t want to miss live.

•  Sabrina Carpenter

•  Billie Eilish

•  Charli XCX

Per Live Nation, the shows will feature an “informal discussion about [David’s] time on ‘Seinfeld,’ ‘Curb,’ and everything in between.”

Announcing the shows in a video posted to Instagram , David said, “There are some tickets going on sale for this thing I’m doing. It’s really nothing. It’ll be a total waste of your time. There’s not that many things to do at night. So, I guess if you have nothing to do… but, you could consider bowling.”

“I don’t put any thought into that whatsoever. Zero. I just try to write funny shows. That’s all it is. I’ve never analyzed it,” he said, then later insisted, “I’m not an intellectual. I’m just an idiot from Brooklyn.”

The fall shows begin just days after the 76th annual Emmy Awards, where “Curb” is nominated for outstanding comedy series and David will compete for best lead actor in a comedy series.
