First-Ever 2021 Tata Safari with Aftermarket Alloy Wheels is Here

facebook

Tata Motors has just launched the 2021 Safari in the Indian market. While the nameplate that enjoys a strong cult around the Indian audience has made a comeback, it is basically a Harrier underneath. However, the 2021 Tata Safari boasts of enough differences when compared with the Harrier. It gets an upright silhouette with a stepped roof and bigger 18-inch alloy wheels. The design for the alloy wheels, however, remains the same as the Harrier. Nevertheless, the alloy wheels can be replaced via the aftermarket route, and this modified example of the 2021 Tata Safari is doing just that.

The Safari in the above image gets a set of bigger 20-inch rims, which feature a multi-spoke design. These rims come from the collection of Velocity Tyres, who are based out of Ludhiana, Punjab. With the bigger rims, the Safari looks rad, and the wheel arches are now completely filled with tyres. These rims are of the RPM brand are shod with Sonar tyres.  While the bigger alloy wheels look cool, they do come with their own set of drawbacks. First and foremost of all is the reduced road comfort. Also, with low-profile tyres in place, the chances of breaking the wheel increases while encountering a pothole or speed bump at high speeds.

2021 Tata Safari Modified Rear 3 Quarters

The 2021 Tata Safari has managed to make its way to headlines for the warm response received from the Indian audience. It comes with a long list of features which includes an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, power-adjustable front seats, panoramic sunroof, 7-inch TFT for instrument console, Bose mode and more.

Talking of the powertrain, 2021 Safari sources power from a 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine. It is capable of putting out a peak power output of 170 PS and max torque of 350 Nm. Transmission options include a 6-speed MT and a 6-speed AT here. Sadly, Tata Motors is offering the Safari in an FWD layout only. With prices starting from INR 14.69 lakh and topping out at INR 21.45 lakh, the 2021 Safari competes against the likes of Mahindra XUV500 and MG Hector Plus.

These 20-inch alloy wheels look gigantic and well well laid out to the road surface too. They are not having huge sidewalls but gives a perfect stance to the new Tata Safari. These alloy wheels have been done at Velocity Tyres which is a hub for aftermarket alloy wheels based in Ludhiana, Punjab. The tyres are made by Sonar.

Alloy Wheels #2

We like this 12-spoke alloy wheels design with a silver finish. This 20-inch does justice to this mammoth size SUV and brings a unique character to the design. Like before, this one also features Sonar tyres and have been done by the same modifying shop.

The OEM alloy wheels from the Tata Motors for Safari gets 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels which looks generous enough. However, sometimes people want to stand out from the crowd and fits in a higher size than recommended. This, however, impacts the vehicle in a lot of ways but that said, Shauk Badi Cheez Hain.

The new Tata Safari is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine which generates as much as 170 PS of power with 350 Nm of peak torque. This engine is mated to a 6-speed manual as standard along with an optional 6-speed torque converter.

New Tata Safari Looks Fab With 20-Inch Aftermarket Alloy Wheels

New Tata Safari With 20-Inch Aftermarket Alloy

The Tata Safari is currently priced from Rs 14.69 lakh to Rs 21.45 lakh (ex-showroom), and rivals the likes of Mahindra XUV500 and the MG Hector Plus

Tata Motors recently revived the Safari nameplate with the introduction of a new-gen model, which is basically a stretched-out three-row version of the Harrier. Nonetheless, the Harrier is a decent project to begin with as far as design is concerned. The Safari carries over the Harrier’s front end while gets an extended rear overhang, a redesigned rear end along with some other changes.

Nonetheless, the Safari is designed under Tata’s Impact 2.0 styling language which makes it look modern and stylish. However, not all car buyers are satisfied with the looks of their new vehicle and aim to modify it in the aftermarket scene to make it appear even more appealing.

The new-gen Safari comes with 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels from the factory, but here is a Safari that has been fitted with 20-inch alloy wheels by Velocity Tires from Ludhiana. It should be noted that this Safari is not an actual customer vehicle, but a demo model to showcase two different alloy wheel designs available for the new Safari.

New Tata Safari With 20-Inch Aftermarket Alloy-2

The two different designs include a five-spoke silver alloy wheel at the front, as well as a multi-spoke dual-tone unit at the back. While the former doesn’t match well with the SUV’s character, the one on the back adds to its overall charm and looks like it is made for the Safari itself.

In order to fit the 20-inch alloy wheels, you also have to add low-profile rubber. However, that does hamper the capabilities of the car while also significantly changes how the vehicle responds to different terrains. Nonetheless, such low-profile tyres are best suited for well-constructed roads.

New Tata Safari With 20-Inch Aftermarket Alloy-3

Powering the Safari is a 2.0-litre diesel engine that makes 170 PS of max power and 350 Nm of peak torque. The engine can be had with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. Tata currently retails the Safari at a starting price of Rs 14.69 lakh that goes up to Rs 21.45 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom).

2021 Tata Safari: Variants & Specifications Detailed

Tata Safari on safari

The Tata Safari has been anticipated for quite some time. The SUV that was the Gravitas has been rechristened as the new Tata Safari that will be Tata’s flagship SUV in India. As Tata’s new 7-seater SUV gets closer to its launch date in February, more details of the Tata Safari are emerging. Here’s a preview of the new 2021 Tata Safari.

Tata Safari Exteriors

Tata Safari front

The new Tata Safari now sports a more modern exterior that fits into Tata’s Impact 2.0 design language. The front fascia resembles the Tata Harrier to a great extent. The most notable difference is the chrome-accented tri-arrow grille that takes centre stage on the new Safari. The Safari sports a split headlight design, with the LED DRLs continuing with the grille while the main headlamp cluster sits lower in the bumper.

Tata Safari side profile

The silhouette of the new Safari from the side is notably longer than the Tata Harrier and features some unique styling elements. The roof rails feature ‘safari’ inscriptions while also helping to hide the stepped roofline. The 18-inch alloy wheels further add substance to the bulging wheel arches and does inspire confidence in the Safari’s mild off-roading capabilities.

Tata Safari rear profile

Apart from the LED tail lights, the Tata Safari features a rear end that is distinct from the Tata Harrier. The Safari features a flatter boot lid than the Harrier while also incorporating contrasting elements on the rear bumper. The bold Safari badge is centred on the lower half of the boot lid. Overall, the rear end is comparatively more plain than the front end.

Tata Safari Interiors

2021 Tata Safari dashboard

Tata’s improvements and refinements in the interiors continues with the 2021 Tata Safari. At the price point the Safari will be competing in, the interiors have to look and feel premium to justify the passenger experience. The dual tone interiors provide a visually appealing experience for passengers while the perforated leatherette upholstery provide the comfort.

Tata Safari 6 seater

Unlike the previous gen Tata Safari, the new SUV is a more comfortable 6-7 seater SUV. The third row isn’t just an after-thought either as there are dedicated AC vents with blower control and USB charging points for the third row passengers. The second row has bench seating for 3 people as standard across all variants. The captain seats are available on the top variant XZ+ and XZA+.

2021 Tata Safari sunroof

Features are where the new Tata Safari is definitely not lacking. The headline feature on the new Safari is the panoramic sunroof that is available on some variants of this SUV. The 7-inch touchscreen infotainment display and upto an 8 speaker sound system are available on more variants of the Safari.

Tata Safari Engine & Transmission

tata safari 2021 alloy wheels price

The new Tata Safari and the Harrier share the same engine and transmission options. Powering the 2021 Tata Safari is the 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that produces 170 PS of power and 350 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission.

Tata Safari Variants

When it comes to the variants of the Tata Safari, the base XE variant does appear to be equipped with the essentials of the Tata Safari experience.

However, the best entry-level variant of the Tata Safari is the XM and XMA variant. The Tata Safari XM variant is equipped with more convenience features like touchscreen display and steering mounted controls

The Tata Safari XT variant, on the other hand, is the best value for money variant of this 7 seater SUV. While it does miss features compared to the XZ variant, the XT has plenty on offer to provide a premium experience.

The Tata Safari XZ variant is the quintessential premium Safari experience. This is also the only variant where you get the captain seats, which makes it suited for those looking for a premium chauffeur-driven SUV experience.

Tata Safari Price

The price for the Tata Safari will be revealed with the full launch in February. Expect the price to be ₹1-3 lakhs more than the Tata Harrier. With competition from the MG Gloster and Toyota Fortuner, the pricing of the Tata Safari will be key to its success.

2021 Tata Safari: Prices and variants explained

Tata Motors has launched the Tata Safari India. The three-row SUV is the new flagship of the Tata Motors range and sits above the Harrier to which it is closely related. The Safari competes with the likes of the MG Hector Plus and Mahindra XUV500 in their diesel iterations

The Safari is 63mm longer than the Harrier, incorporating a stepped roof and a reworked rear section to accommodate the third row of seats. he width(1894mm) and wheelbase(2741mm) remain unchanged from the Harrier, although the new SUV is a bit taller at 1,786mm (80m more). The same 2.0-litre FCA-sourced Multijet diesel engine from the Harrier, which Tata calls Kryotec, is fitted to the Safari with 172PS and 350Nm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual and a six-speed automatic gearbox.

Tata Safari Adventure Persona

The Tata Safari's Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced Architecture (Omega arc) is derived from Jaguar Land Rover's entry-level D8 SUV platform, variations of which supported cars like the pre-facelift Land Rover Discovery Sport, Jaguar E-Pace and the last-gen Range Rover Evoque. The Tata platform is based on a steel structure unlike JLR's aluminium one and also incorporates more affordable suspension tech like a rear torsion beam instead of a multi-link set-up.

Here's what you get with each variant of the 2021 Tata Safari with their prices. The Safari comes in 9 variants with the lower mid-XMA and XZA being available with the automatic. The top-spec XZ+ and XZA+ can also be had with the Adventure Persona design pack. These are also the only variants to offer a second-row captain seat option, along with the bench seats available on other variants.

My need for speed began at a very early age and I realised this as soon as I got my first bicycle at the age of 8. When all the other kids would break downhill I would pedal harder just to go faster and enjoy the thrill. Adding to my interest for speed, I grew engrossed in the working mechanics of two wheelers thanks to my father as he is a hydraulic mechanic and would take me along with him on his repair sessions. Eventually I became familiar with the tools and basic technical concepts of two wheelers.Super sport and sport tourers are more of my liking and the sparks to these flames were ignited the first time I experienced the maddening power of a Yamaha YZF R1. I was just 14 years old at the time and got to ride as a pillion with an older acquaintance. This one short ride influenced my every decision in terms of the bikes I want to own. As of today I’m 26 years old and a proud owner of a Yamaha Fz15 version 2.0 and a Kawasaki Ninja 650 2014 model having clocked a decent 30k Kms only while touring, waiting to clock 1000s more as riding makes me feel whole again after enduring the dismal routines of life. New Tata Safari Looks Fab With 20-Inch Aftermarket Alloy Wheels   GaadiWaadi.com

The two different designs include a five-spoke silver alloy wheel at the front, as well as a multi-spoke dual-tone unit at the back. While the former doesn’t match well with the SUV’s character, the one on the back adds to its overall charm and looks like it is made for the Safari itself. In order to fit the 20-inch alloy wheels , you also have to add low-profile rubber. However, that does hamper the capabilities of the car while also significantly changes how the vehicle responds to different terrains. Nonetheless, such low-profile tyres are best suited for well-constructed roads. Upcoming Cars Under Rs. 10 Lakh – New Vitara Brezza To Slavia By Kshitij Rawat -December 18, 2021 Check out our list of the top five upcoming models, priced from Rs. 6 lakh to Rs. 10 lakh, which are set to launch in India in 2022 This year is coming to a close and the next one is about to begin, and we’re excited about it! Plenty of new cars are set to launch in India in 2022, spanning different segments and price ranges. If you’re an auto enthusiast or someone planning to buy a new car, you’re probably waiting with anticipation as well! Here, we have listed the five highly anticipated vehicles under Rs. 10 lakh, which are slated to launch in the Indian market next year (in 2022). 1. New-gen Maruti Vitara Brezza Expected starting price- Rs. 7 lakh Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch the second-generation Vitara Brezza in India soon, likely around early-2022. Thanks to spy pictures, we know that the new-gen version looks sharper and sleeker than the outgoing model, and it would get a lot more features and equipment. It will continue to be powered by an electrified 1.5L petrol engine, but tweaked for better fuel economy. Also, Toyota will launch it under its own brand as well, as the next-gen Urban Cruiser. 2. Citroen C3 Expected starting price- Rs. 7 lakh Citroen will enter the sub-4-metre SUV space in the Indian car market next year with the C3. The crossover was officially unveiled earlier this year, and its funky exterior design draws a lot of inspiration from the C5 Aircross. Speculations suggest that Citroen C3 could be powered by a 1.2L turbo-petrol engine, likely with flex-fuel tech. 3. Mahindra eKUV100 Expected starting price- Rs. 9 lakh Mahindra & Mahindra is planning to expand its electric car lineup in India, and the next EV from the brand will be the eKUV100. It was unveiled during the 2020 Auto Expo, and was expected to launch last year. However, that didn’t happen, and now, we expect it to go on sale in 2022. The eKUV100 will likely be the most affordable EV in India upon launch. 4. Skoda Slavia Expected starting price- Rs. 10 lakh Skoda unveiled the Slavia in India last month, and it is slated to go on sale here early next year as a replacement for the now-discontinued Rapid. This upcoming sedan will be available with two engine choices – a 1.0L turbo-petrol unit (115 PS/175 Nm) and a 1.5L turbo-petrol unit (150 PS/250 Nm) – the same as the Kushaq. 5. Volkswagen Virtus Expected starting price- Rs. 9.5 lakh VW is planning to replace the Vento with a new sedan, expected to be named ‘Virtus’. This upcoming VW sedan will share its platform with Skoda Slavia, and get the same powertrain options as well. However, the exterior and interior styling will be completely different compared to its Skoda cousin. All prices mentioned are ex-showroom, expected 2022 Suzuki S-Cross First Drive Review Video Shows Big Changes By Surendhar M -December 18, 2021 2022 Suzuki S-Cross gains a host of revisions inside and out and is retailed in Motion and Ultra trims in the United Kingdom Suzuki revealed the third generation SX4 S-Cross in Europe a few weeks ago and is sold in Motion and Ultra trim levels in the United Kingdom – priced at £24,999 (Rs. 24.9 lakh) for and £29,799 (Rs. 29.7 lakh) respectively. The S-Cross is one of the top-sellers for the Japanese manufacturer alongside the Swift and Vitara globally. The new generation S-Cross has undergone a host of changes inside and out while the features list has also been improved. It is available in six colour choices namely Solid White, Metallic Titan Dark Grey, Energetic Red, Sphere Blue, Cosmic Black and Silky Silver. For improved efficiency, Suzuki has adopted an improved mild-hybrid technology. It is rolled out of the brand’s production facility in Esztergom, Hungary where the Vitara midsize SUV is also manufactured. According to recent media reports, the next generation Vitara could be the midsize SUV developed by Maruti Suzuki and Toyota to rival Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks, VW Taigun and Skoda Kushaq for India. The third-gen global Suzuki S-Cross is expected to debut in India sometime in 2023 as Maruti Suzuki has lined up a number of new launches for 2022 including an all-new Alto, facelifted XL6, heavily updated Baleno and the new generation Brezza. The new S-Cross gets a thoroughly revised front fascia with sportier design elements and it now has a proper midsize SUV-ish appeal. It features an updated front grille with a thick chrome bar, sharper headlamps, piano black inserts, raised bonnet, redesigned bumper with new fog lamp housings, wider central air inlet, chromed window line, newly designed 17-inch alloy wheels , thick wheel arch cladding, body-coloured door handles, new LED tail lamps, tweaked tailgate, etc. Underpinned by the Global C platform as the Vitara, the new S-Cross has bigger proportions resulting in a more spacious cabin than the previous model and the equipment list comprises a nine-inch touchscreen, panoramic sunroof, leather seat upholstery, 360-degree camera, LED headlamps, satellite navigation, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring and so on. As for the performance, the same 1.4-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine develops a maximum power output of 127 bhp and is equipped with a 48 V mild-hybrid system. It is claimed to do zero to 100 kmph in 9.5 seconds and has a top speed of 195 kmph. The powertrain is paired with a six-speed MT or AT with standard selectable drive modes in 4WD in the top-end trims. Skoda Model Wise Nov 2021 Sales – Rapid, Kushaq, Octavia, Superb By Surendhar M -December 18, 2021 Skoda posted 2,196 units in the month of November 2021 as against 1,056 units during the same period last year with a YoY volume growth of 108 per cent Skoda Auto India recorded a cumulative domestic tally of 2,196 units in the month of November 2021 as against 1,056 units during the same period last year with a YoY volume growth of 108 per cent. This, when compared to the previous month of October 2021 with 3,065 units, a MoM negative sales growth of 28.4 per cent, was seen. The Czech Republican automaker registered 0.9 per cent market share with a growth of 0.5 per cent compared to November 2020 and it slotted in at twelfth in the overall manufacturers’ standings ahead of only FCA and Citroen. Skoda’s major volumes came from the Kushaq, which made its market debut only a few months ago. The midsize SUV comes as the first vehicle part of the India 2.0 project as Skoda and VW invested more than a billion euros over the last three years in India. The five-seater competes against a host of midsize SUVs such as Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Renault Duster, Nissan Kicks, etc. It has also spawned a VW sibling in the form of Taigun. Skoda Models (YoY) November 2021 Sales November 2020 Sales 1. Skoda Kushaq 1,876 – 2. Skoda Octavia (870%) 194 20 3. Skoda Superb (-52%) 104 218 4. Skoda Rapid (-97%) 22 813 The Kushaq posted a cumulative domestic tally of 1,876 units in the month of November 2021 and it is sold with two engine options: a 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol. The former develops a maximum power output of 115 PS and 175 Nm while the latter kicks out 150 PS and 250 Nm. Both manual and automatic transmissions are available with the Kushaq. The Octavia received its new generation this year as well and it recorded 194 units as against 20 units with a YoY growth of 870  per cent. The Superb was treated with a facelift at the beginning of this year in India and it posted 104 units as against 218 units in November 2020. This led to a YoY de-growth of 52 per cent. The Rapid only managed to register 22 units as against 813 units in November 2020 with a massive decline of 97 per cent. It will be replaced by the Slavia in the coming months and is the third model within the VW Group to be underpinned by the heavily localised MQB A0 IN architecture. Toyota-Suzuki Partnership Has A Mid-Engined Sportscar In The Making By Kshitij Rawat -December 18, 2021 Image source: Esa Mustonen Toyota, its subsidiary Daihatsu, and Suzuki have reportedly joined hands for the development of a new mid-engined sportscar, expected to be an entry-level model As per a recent report from Japan, Toyota, Daihatsu, and Suzuki are jointly developing a mid-engined sportscar. No details are available about the vehicle , except that it is scheduled to debut by 2025. Speculations suggest that this new vehicle would be a successor to the iconic Toyota MR2, which was on sale from 1984 to 2007. The report also states that Toyota-Suzuki will likely position this upcoming sportscar in the entry-level space. It might be powered by a turbocharged petrol engine, likely 1.0 litre or 1.4 litres in displacement. With a small engine under the hood, the carmakers would be able to focus on fuel economy and affordability, while still offering an exciting driving experience. Toyota and Suzuki had entered a partnership back in 2019, and the two brands have helped expand each other’s lineup in different markets. Suzuki’s Indian branch – Maruti Suzuki – supplies Toyota with Baleno and Vitara Brezza, which are then sold as Glanza and Urban Cruiser, respectively. Toyota also exports and sells rebadged Maruti cars in international markets. Toyota and Maruti Suzuki are also jointly working on a few new models, including two new SUVs and a new MPV, which are being specifically developed for the Indian market. In Europe, Suzuki sells a few rebadged Toyota cars, like the Swace (rebadged Toyota Corolla hybrid estate) and A-Cross (rebadged Toyota RAV4). It should be noted that Toyota currently has two sportscars in its global range. The first is the 86, which was developed in partnership with Subaru, and the latter sells a rebadged version of it, christened ‘BRZ’. The second one is Supra, which was developed in partnership with BMW and shares its platform with the Z4. Suzuki doesn’t have sportscars in its global lineup currently, although it did have the ‘Cappuccino’ back in the 90s. It was a Kei-class convertible roadster, powered by a tiny 650cc turbo-petrol engine. That said, Suzuki does have the Swift Sport in its current international range, a car this is beloved for its balance between performance and affordability . If this upcoming Toyota-Suziki sportscar turns out to be an entry-level, affordable model, then we might even see it come to Indian shores! Images for representation only SOURCESource Kia Carens Vs Maruti XL6 – Detailed Specifications Comparison By Kshitij Rawat -December 18, 2021 Here, we compare the newly-revealed Kia Carens with one of its closest competitors in the Indian market – Maruti XL6 Kia India recently revealed a new MPV – Carens – which will be positioned below the Carnival in the manufacturer’s lineup. Bookings for this new model have already commenced in India, and it is slated to go on sale in the Indian market in the first quarter of 2022. The Carens would be the South Korean brand’s fourth model in India when it launches. In the Indian market, one of the biggest rivals of Kia Carens would be Maruti XL6, and here, we have an on-paper comparison between the two. Kia Carens Vs Maruti XL6 – Exterior design and dimensions Kia Carens is an extremely aggressive and futuristic-looking vehicle. It gets a split LED headlamp design at the front and wraparound taillights at the rear. It also gets sporty dual-tone 16-inch wheels and black cladding all around. Also, the MPV has an SUV-ish silhouette with sporty overall proportions. Kia hasn’t officially unveiled the dimensions yet, but it has confirmed that the Carens will have the largest wheelbase in the segment. As such, we expect brilliant cabin space in all three rows. Maruti XL6 is essentially an Ertiga with a sporty, premium makeover. The front fascia of the XL6 is quite aggressive, with sharp headlamps, and a wide front grille. Its side and rear section, however, is identical to the Ertiga. The XL6 has a length of 4,445mm, a width of 1,775mm, and a height of 1,700, along with a 2,740mm long wheelbase and 15-inch blacked-out alloy wheels . The dimensions aren’t too large, but despite that, the Maruti has a good road presence. Kia Carens Vs Maruti XL6 – Interior styling and equipment The Carens has an Indigo and Beige interior theme, which looks extremely premium. The MPV comes in two seating configurations – 6-seat and 7-seat. The former gets captain seats in the second row and the latter gets bench seats instead. Also, it gets a 64-colour ambient lighting system, which makes the cabin feel more premium. There are plenty of features on offer here, like a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, smartphone connectivity (Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), UVO connected car tech, fully digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, a Bose 8-speaker sound system, electric sunroof, air purifier, seat-back folding tables, automatic climate control, cruise control, LED exterior lighting, etc. Maruti XL6 doesn’t feel as premium as its Kia rival, but its all-black interior does look quite nice. It only comes in a 6-seat configuration though (for the 7-seater version, look up Ertiga). The interior space in the XL6 is quite brilliant, in all three rows. The features on offer on the Maruti MPV include a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system (Android Auto and Apple CarPlay), a 4-speaker audio system, cruise control, automatic climate control, LED exterior lighting, etc. There is no sunroof on offer, not just on XL6, but any Maruti car currently on sale. Kia Carens Vs Maruti XL6 – Technical specifications On the Carens, Kia is offering three engine options, the same as the Seltos. The first one is a 1.5-litre NA petrol unit, which comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The second one is a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol unit, which gets a choice between 6-speed MT and a 7-speed DCT. The third one is a 1.5-litre turbo-diesel unit, which can be had with either a 6-speed MT or a 6-speed AT. Kia Carens specifications Engine size 1.5-litre 1.4-litre 1.5-litre Engine type Naturally aspirated, inline-4 Turbocharged, inline-4 Turbocharged, inline-4 Max. power 115 PS 140 PS 115 PS Max. torque 144 Nm 242 Nm 250 Nm Transmission 6-speed MT 6-speed MT/7-speed DCT 6-speed MT/6-speed AT On Maruti XL6, there is just one engine option on offer- a 1.5-litre NA petrol unit. This motor can be had with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 4-speed torque-converter automatic transmission. Speculations suggest that a CNG powertrain option will be added to the range soon. Maruti XL6 specifications Engine size 1.5-litre Engine type Naturally aspirated, inline-4 Max. power 105 PS Max. torque 138 Nm Transmission 5-speed MT/4-speed AT Kia Carens Vs Maruti XL6 – Price and rivals Kia Carens is expected to be priced between Rs. 16 lakh to Rs. 21 lakh (ex-showroom). This isn’t very affordable, but considering all the features on offer, along with the multiple engine options, this seems like a brilliant deal (potentially!) in all honesty. Maruti XL6 is priced from Rs. 9.98 lakh to Rs. 11.86 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). This is significantly more affordable than the Carens, but it only has one engine choice on offer. Maruti MPV has fewer features on offer as well, and it just isn’t as premium. New-Gen Ford Endeavour Teased Ahead Of Debut In The Coming Months By Surendhar M -December 17, 2021 The new-generation Ford Endeavour will make its global debut in the coming months with a host of updates inside and out Ford’s Australia division has released the official teaser video of the new generation Endeavour (Everest) which has been spotted testing several times already Down Under and also in Thailand more recently. The video said Ford Australia is getting the all-new Ford Everest adventure ready for customers and it was doing some trail duties and water splashing. Signifying that the Endeavour has entered the final phase of testing, the prototype wore “mountain peak” inspired camouflage and most of the exterior details can be clearly seen. It is expected to make its global debut sometime in the early parts of 2022 before going on sale in the international markets and it could enter India in the near future via the CBU route. The Ford Endeavour was the main competitor to the Toyota Fortuner until it was discontinued as the Blue Oval quit its domestic operations. The full-sized seven-seater SUV with off-road credentials continued to be one of the best sellers for the American manufacturer until it was here and it could be part of the brand’s plans to sell exclusive models in the coming years. Back to the 2022 Ford Endeavour, it is based on the same platform as the latest Ranger and the design similarities can be noted as well . Up front, the SUV comprises redesigned headlamps, revised front bumper, strong shoulder lines, newly designed alloy wheels, tweaked bonnet and tailgate, updated LED tail lamps and rear bumper, and so on. The interior is also subjected to a number of changes and it will get the latest SYNC tech with a large touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, a possible all-digital instrument cluster, use of more premium surface materials, automatic climate control system, cruise control, steering wheel with mounted controls, restyled dashboard and centre console, etc. The features list of the 2022 Ford Endeavour will get new additions pertaining to safety, connectivity, entertainment and assistive technologies. It is expected to be equipped with the same 2.0-litre diesel engine, paired with manual and automatic transmissions. 350 cc Bike Sales In Nov 2021 – Classic, Bullet, CB350, Meteor By Surendhar M -December 17, 2021 Royal Enfield Classic 350 led the way in the month of November 2021 with 19,601 units as against 39,391 units during the same period in 2020 with a 50.2% de-growth In the month of November 2021, Royal Enfield’s Classic 350 finished on top of the 350 cc motorcycle sales charts as 19,601 units were recorded against 39,391 units during the same period in 2020 with a YoY negative sales growth of 50.2 per cent. It is expected to return with an adventure tourer and possibly a scrambler while a cruiser from Jawa’s stable is also likely. RE, on the other hand, will introduce the Hunter 350 in 2022 while a couple of 650 cc motorcycles could also see the light. Tata Tiago & Tigor CNG Bookings Open At Dealerships In India By Surendhar M -December 17, 2021 Tata Tiago and Tigor CNG are expected to launch in the coming weeks as the existing 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine will more likely be utilised Courtesy of the soaring petrol and fuel prices, car manufacturers are looking at alternative ways to reduce the running cost of passenger vehicles and companies like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Tata are betting big on CNG powered cars . Maruti Suzuki has plans to manufacture 2,50,000 CNG vehicles this FY at an increase of nearly 60 per cent. Hyundai , on the other hand, expects to see its sales volumes of CNG vehicles triple to around 35,000 units this CY. Tata Motors will also join the party as CNG versions of the Tiago entry-level hatchback and Tigor compact sedan will likely go on sale soon in India as the bookings for them have commenced at the dealer level. The Tigor is the only sedan Tata sells in India and it makes sense to add a CNG variant as affordability and fuel efficiency are the primary concerns of the mass market first-time buyers and it scored four stars in the Global NCAP crash tests. The compact sedan has been on sale since March 2017 and it has endured decent success over the years while the Tiago kick-started the new range of Tata vehicles back in 2016.

The Unique Burial of a Child of Early Scythian Time at the Cemetery of Saryg-Bulun (Tuva)

<< Previous page

Pages:  379-406

In 1988, the Tuvan Archaeological Expedition (led by M. E. Kilunovskaya and V. A. Semenov) discovered a unique burial of the early Iron Age at Saryg-Bulun in Central Tuva. There are two burial mounds of the Aldy-Bel culture dated by 7th century BC. Within the barrows, which adjoined one another, forming a figure-of-eight, there were discovered 7 burials, from which a representative collection of artifacts was recovered. Burial 5 was the most unique, it was found in a coffin made of a larch trunk, with a tightly closed lid. Due to the preservative properties of larch and lack of air access, the coffin contained a well-preserved mummy of a child with an accompanying set of grave goods. The interred individual retained the skin on his face and had a leather headdress painted with red pigment and a coat, sewn from jerboa fur. The coat was belted with a leather belt with bronze ornaments and buckles. Besides that, a leather quiver with arrows with the shafts decorated with painted ornaments, fully preserved battle pick and a bow were buried in the coffin. Unexpectedly, the full-genomic analysis, showed that the individual was female. This fact opens a new aspect in the study of the social history of the Scythian society and perhaps brings us back to the myth of the Amazons, discussed by Herodotus. Of course, this discovery is unique in its preservation for the Scythian culture of Tuva and requires careful study and conservation.

    1. Keep the stock rims/wheels, upsizing would mean compromising with the ride quality. Rather, invest in a good set of tyres, or, you can downsize to 16 inch wheels though, with the right sized tyres (235/70 R16 is a good fit) to go with it. That'd make the ride more plush and will add to the aesthetics of an SUV.
