Summer Tour – Le programme complet

La deuxième étape du Samse Summer Tour se dispute ce week-end à Arçon sur le stade Florence Baverel. Les titres du sprint et de la poursuite seront mis en jeu.

Deuxième rendez-vous national à Arçon

Un mois après les Plans d’Hotonnes , les biathlètes tricolores vont prendre part en fin de semaine à la deuxième étape du Samse Summer Tour à Arçon dans le Doubs.

Sur le stade Florence Baverel , deux titres nationaux seront à décrocher. Celui du sprint samedi, puis celui de la poursuite le lendemain. L’an dernier sur ce même site, Anaïs Chevalier-Bouchet avait réalisé le doublé, tandis que Simon Desthieux et Émilien Jacquelin étaient tous les deux montés sur la plus haute marche du podium.

Les fans de biathlon sont conviés à ce très beau week-end de fête qui lancera les biathlètes dans la dernière ligne droite de leur préparation. Pour accéder au site, les spectateurs devront présenter un pass sanitaire valide.

Feel like an Olympian with this unique and safe hands-on introduction to the winter sport of biathlon – in the summer. In this interactive experience, guests learn about the sport, and the athletes and take aim and shoot a real .22 calibre rifle at the Olympic shooting range. No previous experience is necessary. Pre-booking is recommended.

Where Can I Learn Biathlon in the U.S.?

For American Olympic fans, biathlon is overshadowed by blockbuster sports, such as alpine skiing and snowboarding. But biathletes are just as badass as the downhillers—these cross-country skiers race to average heart rates of 175 bpm, then fire five precision shots in as few as seven seconds, nearly miraculously hitting a 4.5-inch diameter target 165 feet away. 

Although countries such as Belarus, France, and Norway, usually top the biathlon medal count, on February 13, Lowell Bailey , of Lake Placid, New York, recorded the best individual finish for an American at the Olympic Games. He placed eighth in the men’s individual 20K in Sochi.

Novice biathletes can train at Bailey’s New York stomping grounds, one of two such available experiences in the U.S. 

Whiteface Lake Placid has hosted two Olympic games and numerous World Cup events. Today, the mountain’s Olympic Sports Complex runs a two-hour biathlete experience  (one hour is spent Nordic skiing, and the second is on the shooting range). Experienced instructors accompany athletes aged 13 and older through the training, which is offered for $55 on specific dates.  

Soldier Hollow Cross-Country Ski Resort , outside Park City, Utah, hosted the 2014 U.S. Cross-Country Championships and is a go-to spot for skate and traditional cross-country skiers. It also offers a biathlon experience , where visitors can fire the same rifles used at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games. Two-hour sessions run $129 for adults and include equipment rentals, instruction, and ammunition; reservations are required.    

Meant as introductions to the sports, neither of these experiences is suitable to launch into the elite sphere. Those aiming to be competitive should join a local club for further training. The Maine Winter Sports Center , Minnesota Biathlon , New York Biathlon , and Washington Biathlon Association are among the most active.

Savvino-storozhevsky monastery and museum.

Zvenigorod's most famous sight is the Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery, which was founded in 1398 by the monk Savva from the Troitse-Sergieva Lavra, at the invitation and with the support of Prince Yury Dmitrievich of Zvenigorod. Savva was later canonised as St Sabbas (Savva) of Storozhev. The monastery late flourished under the reign of Tsar Alexis, who chose the monastery as his family church and often went on pilgrimage there and made lots of donations to it. Most of the monastery’s buildings date from this time. The monastery is heavily fortified with thick walls and six towers, the most impressive of which is the Krasny Tower which also serves as the eastern entrance. The monastery was closed in 1918 and only reopened in 1995. In 1998 Patriarch Alexius II took part in a service to return the relics of St Sabbas to the monastery. Today the monastery has the status of a stauropegic monastery, which is second in status to a lavra. In addition to being a working monastery, it also holds the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum.

Belfry and Neighbouring Churches

Located near the main entrance is the monastery's belfry which is perhaps the calling card of the monastery due to its uniqueness. It was built in the 1650s and the St Sergius of Radonezh’s Church was opened on the middle tier in the mid-17th century, although it was originally dedicated to the Trinity. The belfry's 35-tonne Great Bladgovestny Bell fell in 1941 and was only restored and returned in 2003. Attached to the belfry is a large refectory and the Transfiguration Church, both of which were built on the orders of Tsar Alexis in the 1650s.  

To the left of the belfry is another, smaller, refectory which is attached to the Trinity Gate-Church, which was also constructed in the 1650s on the orders of Tsar Alexis who made it his own family church. The church is elaborately decorated with colourful trims and underneath the archway is a beautiful 19th century fresco.

Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is the oldest building in the monastery and among the oldest buildings in the Moscow Region. It was built between 1404 and 1405 during the lifetime of St Sabbas and using the funds of Prince Yury of Zvenigorod. The white-stone cathedral is a standard four-pillar design with a single golden dome. After the death of St Sabbas he was interred in the cathedral and a new altar dedicated to him was added.

Under the reign of Tsar Alexis the cathedral was decorated with frescoes by Stepan Ryazanets, some of which remain today. Tsar Alexis also presented the cathedral with a five-tier iconostasis, the top row of icons have been preserved.

Tsaritsa's Chambers

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is located between the Tsaritsa's Chambers of the left and the Palace of Tsar Alexis on the right. The Tsaritsa's Chambers were built in the mid-17th century for the wife of Tsar Alexey - Tsaritsa Maria Ilinichna Miloskavskaya. The design of the building is influenced by the ancient Russian architectural style. Is prettier than the Tsar's chambers opposite, being red in colour with elaborately decorated window frames and entrance.

At present the Tsaritsa's Chambers houses the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum. Among its displays is an accurate recreation of the interior of a noble lady's chambers including furniture, decorations and a decorated tiled oven, and an exhibition on the history of Zvenigorod and the monastery.

Palace of Tsar Alexis

The Palace of Tsar Alexis was built in the 1650s and is now one of the best surviving examples of non-religious architecture of that era. It was built especially for Tsar Alexis who often visited the monastery on religious pilgrimages. Its most striking feature is its pretty row of nine chimney spouts which resemble towers.

ASSE : Kilmer Sports officialise le rachat du club au lendemain de son accession en Ligue 1

Et si les supporteurs des Verts se mettaient réellement à croire à un alignement des planètes ? Déprimés par l’actualité football depuis des lustres, et plus encore depuis la morose relégation en Ligue 2 en 2022, ceux-ci fêtent depuis dimanche soir l’improbable but décisif d’Ibrahima Wadji à Metz (2-2) . En libérant l’AS Saint-Etienne en fin de prolongation du barrage retour, l’attaquant sénégalais a renvoyé son club en Ligue 1.

S’ensuit une immense fiesta dans le Forez, mais il ne s’agit pas de la seule grande information de ce lundi. L’ ASSE vient en effet d’officialiser son rachat par Kilmer Sports . Ce groupe familial canadien devient l’unique actionnaire du club, et l’inoxydable et si critiqué duo de présidents Roland Romeyer-Bernard Caïazzo (plus de vingt ans de règne) est remplacé par Ivan Gazidis.

Un rachat estimé autour des 25 millions d’euros

Une sacrée page de l’histoire du club aux dix titres de champion de France se tourne, et Kilmer Sports annonce qu’il « souhaite développer l’ASSE avec un projet de long terme basé sur ses valeurs et son héritage, et se concentrer sur la croissance future du club ».

Dirigeant sud-africain d’origine grecque de 59 ans, notamment connu dans le football européen pour ses passages comme directeur général d’ Arsenal (de 2009 à 2018) puis à l’AC Milan (de 2018 à 2022), le président de Kilmer Sports Ivan Gazidis va donc incarner cet avenir plein d’espoirs de l’ASSE, aux côtés de Huss Fahmy et Jaeson Rosenfeld, vice-présidents exécutifs en charge du football de Kilmer Sports.

La force de l'AS Saint-Étienne

Si ce rachat, pour une somme estimée autour des 25 millions d’euros , intervient au lendemain du barrage remporté contre le FC Metz, il n’était pas dépendant d’une accession dans l’élite. « C’est un honneur et une grande responsabilité de prendre aujourd’hui la tête d’un club à l’histoire et au palmarès aussi prestigieux. Nous voulons construire sur ce qui fait la force de l’ASSE depuis toujours : son histoire, ses valeurs et l’engagement exceptionnel de ses fans dans la région et partout en France », conclut Ivan Gazidis ce lundi.
