Gear System

  • Edit source
  • View history

You purchase gear for your characters via the in game shop. You will only be able to buy 1 item per slot for each classification of character (Command, Science, Engineering, Medical and Security) per day. Meaning if you want to gear out multiple characters it is a good idea to purchase all the equipment everyday. To equip items go into your crew menu and select the character you wish to equip your gear upon.

To further advance your gear you are able to upgrade it once it is equipped. Gear has two different segments you can upgrade, the first being it's level and the second being its rarity. First you must upgrade the items level until it reaches max (Level 5) at which point if possible you will be given the option to upgrade the items rarity. Gear rarity is tied strictly to your characters rarity. Meaning you will never be able to upgrade a gear pieces rarity higher than the rarity of your character. There are five rarities currently, Common, Rare, Very Rare, Epic and Legendary. A common character will only be able to level his gear up the five ranks and that is it. However a epic character can first level their common item up five times, then upgrade its rarity to rare. The process then resets and they will have to level that item up another five times to be able to increase the rarity yet again.

10 Tips & Tricks for Starting Star Trek: Legends

Star Trek: Legends is the first Star Trek game to come out in nearly three years. The game itself plays similarly to games like Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes and DC Legends —only with one major difference. As this game is part of Apple Arcade, you won’t find any energy meters limiting how much you can play or microtransactions hoping to drain every last dollar out of your wallet. Sound interesting? Well, here some things to know before you get started.

star trek legends equipment

Don’t Roll the Gatcha Until You Finish the Story

Like many similar mobile titles there is a gatcha system in Star Trek: Legends where you are able to summon Star Trek ’s greatest heroes and villains (and a fair amount of no-name nobodies) to join your crew thanks to the Nexus (as seen in Star Trek: Generations ). You may be tempted to summon a character every time you have enough “orbs” to do so. However, this would be a huge mistake.

When the game begins, there is almost no one to summon in the gatcha other than random useless crew members and the three officers you get as part of the tutorial—Burnham, Bones, and Worf. As you play through the story, more and more characters will be unlocked in the gatcha—with the full spread available once you finish the sixth chapter. Simply put, save your orbs until the character(s) you want are available. And don’t worry about filling out your roster, there are more than a few ways to get characters that don’t involve the gatcha.

star trek legends equipment

Your Best Team for Completing the Story

When it comes to completing the story, the trick is building the best team you can from the crewmembers you A) unlock naturally as part of the plot, B) unlock from completing achievements, and C) unlock from completing limited-time “Operation” events that you can only try five times per day. Here’s the team that got me through the game at launch (the first six episodes).

Leonard McCoy – Healer

The game really throws you a bone (pun intended) by giving you McCoy right out of the gate. While he may be the second most common when it comes to rarity, he’s the best doctor in the game. Period. He can heal one character for most of their HP and give a massive defense boost to the entire party. But the best item in his kit is the “Tri-Ox Hypospray” which can be used first turn and boosts both attack and morale—which is ungodly powerful when paired with…

William Riker – DPS

Riker is a character you get early on (in the first episode or two) just by going through the story. Now, I don’t know if he is the best DPS in the game but until I find someone else who can attack all enemies turn one, he’s not leaving my party. And as he is a bit slower in the turn order than McCoy he can be buffed before his first turn so that he wipes out the entire enemy side in one shot. Even after that his normal attack can one-shot any individual target that isn’t a boss. And with the McCoy morale boost, he will often attack alongside the other characters when they attack.

star trek legends equipment

Worf – Tank

Like McCoy, you get Worf within your first few minutes of the game. And while there are better tanks you can get in the gatcha—Captain Pike and Odo are arguably better and the Borg Queen certainly is—he got me through the whole story mode no trouble. He has a taunt skill which is incredibly useful given that McCoy can only heal one person at a time. He also has a counterattack skill (though I never unlocked it due to the fact I felt he was more useful spending his turns attacking). His ultimate skill (which can only be used from the third turn on), “Klingon Fury,” is a boss-killer of epic proportions—though you’d be surprised how few times battle lasted long enough for me to use it.

Geordi La Forge – Support

While you don’t get him in the story, Geordi can be unlocked by completing the “Event: Welcome Event” Operation series. (If the welcome event no longer exists by the time you pick up the game, then it might be time to break the “don’t use the gatcha” rule once Geordi appears in it. The good news is that the odds are you’ll get him within the first 10 pulls from the Engineer gatcha.)

Geordi is a beast. He can create cover for party members to hide behind—like, say, a taunting Worf. More than that, on the second turn he can create a shield that doubles or triples the entire party’s HP while also increasing morale (which in turn increases the likelihood of random team-up attacks occurring).

Of the four character’s I’ve recommended here, Geordi will likely be the last you unlock. While you’re working to unlock him, any other character can take his slot—the McCoy, Worf, Riker, trinity is solid all on its own. I personally kept Burnham and Data in that slot till I got Geordi—though feel free to experiment with any of the dozens of other characters you’ll get for free.

star trek legends equipment

Equip Your Main Team with Gear

Each character can equip a phaser, padd, tricorder, and communicator—along with two nexus particles. These boost the characters’ various stats. They can be bought from the in-game shop (for a nominal fee). Make sure your main party has them equipped.

Level Up the Gear That Boosts the Abilities of Each Person

The equipment and nexus particles you obtain can be leveled up with items you gather from story missions and shuttle missions. However, don’t just upgrade at random. Each boosts different stats and not all characters use the same stats. For example, Riker attacks with the attack stat. Thus, leveling up his phaser is the most important as it boosts attack. Geordi, on the other hand, attacks with the tech stat. So for him, leveling up the tricorder is most important. The same basic rule of thumb holds true for Nexus particles—but hold off on upgrading these until epic or legendary ones appear in Quark’s shop.

star trek legends equipment

Assign Your Bridge Crew

As you progress through the game, you will be able to assign people to various stations on the bridge. Each person on the bridge has some skill that buffs the entire away team when you do missions. Some of these will only work on certain types of characters (Klingons or Borg) while others work on all away team members. Mix and match to find the best support for your party. (Oh and don’t worry. Even if a character has a job on the bridge, they can still go on away missions without any loss in the overall stat bonuses.)

Send People on Shuttle Missions Whenever You Can

Not only does this level them up, it gets you rare items to level up skills and equipment.

Save Your Bio-gels For New Characters

Bio-gels are largely useless on your main party—they will level up quickly on their own. Save the gels for when you want to quickly level up a new character to put into your main party.

star trek legends equipment

Character Rarity Doesn’t Matter, Skills Do

Kahn is the highest level of rarity. Riker is two levels of rarity lower. Can Kahn wipe out an entire opposing force on the first turn? Nope. I rest my case.

Getting Morale Up is Better than Giving Morale Down

While giving four morale downs causes and enemy to retreat from battle, it’s faster to just kill them. And as giving your landing party morale makes it so that they randomly do team up attacks, enemies drop even faster.

There Are Glitches, Tons of Glitches

While fun, this game is a buggy one—at least on the iPad I bought brand new last year. Sometimes I haven’t been able to select locations on the landing party map (I needed to sync a controller to select my next location). Other times, some of the graphics didn’t show up leaving me with white boxes instead of icons. My daily PVP rewards haven’t been awarded to me for the past several days—with the game acting like I’ve already gotten them. More than once, two menus have opened at once requiring me to restart the game to make them go away. And I can’t count the number of times I’ve wanted to equip an item and the game simply won’t bring up the menu to let me do so. The good news is that in battle, things have been glitch free. But I won’t pretend I haven’t been getting more and more frustrated with the bugs.

Star Trek: Legends was released for Apple Arcade on April 2, 2021.

Nice guide, thanks! I am obsessed with this game. I completely agree about Riker, I don’t see how I could ever leave him outside of my team. A scan from Spock and the bullet spray from Riker. Thats’s normally a game over for the opponent! 🙂

Try playing with Janeway, Seven, Uhura & Sela. By leveling up their abilities and equipment early in the game I was able to defeat enemies 20 and 30 levels higher easily. I’ve unlocked and played with almost every character and I seem to keep coming back to that team being the most effective.

In a bit of an update, when it cames to hitting max level and finishing very hard mode, my team was Riker, Bones, The Borg Queen, and Geordi.

Solid insight and well written.

Your Away Team recommendations helped a lot.

' src=

Thanks for the article! Question: Where do you get mission materials from (the ones that allow you to choose different mission paths). Thanks!

What allows you to choose the different paths is the composition of your away team. You need medical officers for med checks and command officers for command checks. It’s a way for the game to encourage you to level up different teams for different challanges.

Star Trek Legends – Gameplay Basic Mechanics and Guide

star trek legends equipment

  • Title: Star Trek Legends
  • Release Date: February 20, 2024
  • Developer: Emerald City Games
  • Publisher: Tilting Point

Star Trek: Legends is currently in its early development stage, and it’s expected to undergo updates and changes over time. As these alterations occur, I’ll diligently test the game for any fixes or modifications and update this guide accordingly.

In this turn-based video game, Star Trek: Legends, players assemble a team of four characters to tackle a diverse array of combat challenges. This guide aims to provide an overview of the gameplay mechanics, basics, a list of known bugs, and some recommendations to enhance your gaming experience.

star trek legends equipment

Combat operates on a turn-based system where actions are taken in a specific order, determined by initiative. Players have the opportunity to execute a variety of attacks, buffs, and enemy debuffs until all remaining enemies are defeated.

The initiative order, indicating the sequence of actions, is showcased at the top-middle section of the screen. Initiative is primarily influenced by the speed attribute of the crew. By clicking on a character, players can access information about their abilities.

At the top-right corner of the screen, players can find options for Speed, Autoplay, and Pause:

  • Speed: Players can adjust the game speed between normal (x1), double (x2), and quadruple (x4) times the regular speed.
  • Autoplay: This feature allows for automated combat, where the AI controls the actions and targets if players prefer not to manually select abilities or targets.
  • Pause: Pauses combat, enabling players to abandon the mission or take a break from gameplay.

Cover mechanics add an additional layer of strategy to combat. Each team has two spots designated as cover, which possess their own health pool. Before a character can be targeted, the cover protecting them must be destroyed. Certain abilities may ignore or deal increased damage against cover.

Bridge – HUB

star trek legends equipment

  • Daily : Offers daily orbs bonus, providing freebies available each day on a seven-day rotation.
  • Bridge : This section allows you to select your bridge crew, granting you in-game bonuses.
  • Goals : Displays in-game achievements, their requirements, and rewards upon completion.

  • Shuttle : Engage in away missions, where you send crew away for a designated period in exchange for rewards.
  • Operations : Weekly events aimed at unlocking characters and earning rewards through a level system.
  • Shop : Spend your latinum, crystals, and survival tickets to acquire various items and upgrades.
  • PVP : Engage in combat against other players’ teams to test your skills and strategy.

At the top right of the screen in most features of the game, you’ll find your latinum collection, one of the main currencies used within the game.

This feature allows you to log in once a day and collect a varying amount of orbs on a seven-day rotation. These freebies enable you to summon new characters to join your crew.

star trek legends equipment

Bridge – Feature

star trek legends equipment

In this section, you can select specific crew members to fulfill the role of a bridge team. Selected crew members provide bonuses to your team such as:

  • 10% Resistance to Scan, Wound, or Stun
  • +3% stats such as Attack, Health, Defense, Tech, etc.
  • +5% stats for a certain group such as Klingon, Starfleet, etc.

Only one crew member can be chosen for each role.

Goals/Achievements

star trek legends equipment

Goals: Goals serve as minor achievements for learning gameplay basics and completing early story missions. However, at the time of writing this, there’s a bug where despite completing the last goal, players may encounter difficulty collecting their reward.

Achievements: These are the same achievements listed on your Steam profile. Upon completion, they offer a latinum bonus. You can track your progress for each achievement.

The News section provides brief details about new operations, including the characters rewarded upon completion.

star trek legends equipment

After completing a story-based mission, you can dispatch a team of up to four members to collect XP, latinum, and various other listed awards. These teams can be sent away for up to 12 hours, with longer durations resulting in better rewards. You can have up to three teams dispatched simultaneously.

However, crew members sent away on shuttle missions will be unavailable for story-based missions and operations.

star trek legends equipment

Operations offer progressively challenging difficulties for higher rewards. Completing operations rewards players with Event Points, which can be used to claim rewards from the Events tab. By accumulating enough Event Points, players can unlock characters.

Operations operate on a rotation, and remaining time tables are displayed in multiple locations. Crew members sent on shuttle missions are not accessible for operations.

star trek legends equipment

This section allows players to spend various currencies to acquire materials needed to upgrade their crew:

  • Front: Offers daily rotations of sale prices for listed materials and character tokens for rank increases.
  • Crew: Provides bio-mimetic gel for crew XP and protomatter for skill increases. Daily limits apply.
  • Particles: Crew can equip up to two particles at a time, which provide combat bonuses and can be upgraded.
  • Gear: Offers communicators, tri-corders, phasers, and PADDS, used to increase certain stats.
  • Alliance: Spend crystals obtained from alliance battles. Note: This feature may not have been utilized yet.
  • Survival: Spend survival points for orbs, bio-mimetic gel, particles, and power cells for particle increases.

In this section, players engage in battles against other players, though there’s no option to exclusively face newbies until certain achievements are unlocked.

  • Hub: Main PVP menu.
  • Logs: Displays your PVP history, including victories and defeats.
  • Seasons: Lists rewards for achieving rank tiers, ranging from the top 100 to 10,001+.
  • Ranking: Appears to be a placeholder page and is not utilized.
  • My Rank: Shows your current rank, with an achievement available for reaching Rank 5.
  • Daily Replicator: Points gained from PVP fights allow you to unlock materials. This section rotates daily.

star trek legends equipment

When selecting your crew for a PVP battle, you’ll see who occupies the cover spots, the enemy team, the enemy player’s rank, and the particles used.

  • New Enemy: Allows you to randomly select a new opponent, with their rank potentially higher or lower than yours. You can use this up to three times before needing to win a PVP fight.
  • Battle: Initiates the fight. If this option is greyed out, you cannot begin combat. Try deselecting and reselecting your crew.

BUG: If you encounter an “ONLINE CONNECTION FAILED” error during PVP, you’ll need to restart the game, and you’ll be directed back to the main menu. This issue isn’t due to your connection but rather indicates hitting the limit for PVP fights for a brief period. According to a post in the discussion section, this limit is lifted after approximately 2.5 hours.

star trek legends equipment

A PVP battle plays out similarly to any other fight, with the difference being that you’re facing a crew assembled by another player. The enemy player is not present during the battle. If the enemy team includes a crew member you’re also using, that enemy will likely have the initiative on your crew member.

TIP: Avoid using Auto-play if victory is your goal. While your team will utilize all their buffs, not selecting your targets or abilities hinders your chances of winning.

star trek legends equipment

Alliance battles present fights with progressive difficulty levels. After selecting an alliance and completing a set number of missions, players can earn replicator rewards. Raids operate on the same cooldown as PVP, so playing continuously isn’t possible.

star trek legends equipment

In this section, players can track their progress during specific Operations. The duration of the Operation is also listed here. Upon accumulating a certain number of points, players can collect rewards in the form of replicated materials.

star trek legends equipment

Survival mode offers progressive difficulty levels. While players have some chance to select from a pre-selected team, there’s no guarantee they’ll get their preferred lineup. For 100 survival points, players can reshuffle the pre-selected crew.

star trek legends equipment

Survival plays out similarly to story missions, featuring multiple fights before progressing to the next level. Players can choose between two paths, with one likely offering a specific type of reward and the other providing another option or even a boss fight for greater rewards. Some segments allow players to select a team upgrade or enemy debuff for a specified number of fights. Additionally, there are resource sections where players can obtain freebies.

Once players have the necessary resources (latinum and survival points), they can upgrade certain team stats exclusively for Survival mode.

This section allows players to randomly summon new crew members to complete their collections. Summoning duplicate crew members generates tokens that can be used to upgrade their ranks. Crew members have set rarities, so some characters appear more frequently than others.

star trek legends equipment

Players can choose to summon crew members individually or select a bridge type such as Command, Medical, Security, and Engineering to summon crew members from that specific group. This feature is beneficial for completing collections or increasing the chances of obtaining favorite characters.

When ready to summon, players can choose the number of orbs they want to use. Depending on the chosen group, 50 to 75 orbs are required. It’s possible to summon multiple crew members if enough orbs are available, with the appropriate amount of new crew or duplicate tokens summoned accordingly.

star trek legends equipment

Collections

This section allows you to view your summoned crew grouped by the series they appeared in and by types such as aliens, Captains, and crew types. Once a group is filled, you can click the replicator icon to receive some freebies. However, Collections only allows you to view your summoned crew; you cannot see their stats, gear, or particles here.

star trek legends equipment

In this section, you can view your crew members organized by role, rarity, power, and tone count. Characters can be viewed even if they are not summoned. Upgrading gear requires a certain amount of latinum and materials, while gaining and upgrading skills require latinum and protomatter of that crew type.

star trek legends equipment

Selecting a character allows you to view their skills and stats, select and upgrade available particles and gear, and rank up with character tokens. The (i) icon next to rarity shows their in-game stats. The “Enhance” option allows you to gain XP from Bio-mimetic gels.

star trek legends equipment

Missions form the story of Star Trek: Legends, revolving around the Nexus where the game takes place. Iconic characters appear in an 8-chapter story.

Players choose their team and engage in a series of combats until the section is completed. Each chapter consists of six sections, with the difficulty increasing as the story progresses.

  • Intel: Provides flavor to the story but has no in-game effect.
  • Explore: Offers a series of options that affect gameplay. Players can negotiate to avoid fights, explore different paths, use Science or Engineering skills to influence outcomes, etc. This section allows players to branch away from the main path to another. Players can revisit these sections once they have the required crew member and their skill cost to choose the road not taken.
  • Power-Ups: Grants the team a buff for a few rounds or debuffs the enemy.

star trek legends equipment

If all crew members are defeated, the mission fails. Players can abandon the story and return later, but they must start the section of a chapter over. After completion, a region around the story can be explored by a Shuttle.

Star Trek Legends Beginner’s Guide and Tips

At the time of writing this, Star Trek: Legends is still in Early Development and will likely be updated. When these changes are made I will test the and fixes/changes and upgrade this guide accordingly.

Star Trek: Legends is a turned based video game, where players build a team of four a complete variety of different combat challenges. This guide will be an overview for the gamplay mechanics, basics, list of bugs, and some recommendations.

star trek legends equipment

Combat is turned based in an initiative order, where you can chose a number of attacks, buffs, enemy debuffs, until the renaming enemies number is reduced to 0.

The initiative order is displayed at the top middle of the screen. Initiative is based on a crew speed. Clicking on a character will let you see their abilities.

Speed, Autoplay, and Pause are listed at the top right of the screen.

Speed : Chose between x0, x2, x4 times normal speed

Autoplay : AI automated combat if you don’t want to chose what your abilities or targets

Pause : Pauses combat where you can abandon the mission.

Cover : Two spots on each team will have cover which will have some health of their own and must be destroyed before that character can be targeted. Some abilities ignore or do more damage against against cover.

At the time right of the screen in most features of the game is your latinum collection, one of the main currencies in the game.

star trek legends equipment

This feather lets you log in once a day and collect a various amount of orbs on a seven-day rotations. These freebies allow you to summon new characters to your crew.

Bridge – Feature

star trek legends equipment

From here you can select certain crew to fulfill the role of a bridge team. slected crew meembers have bonuses to your team from:

  • 10% Resistance to Scan, Wound, or Stun
  • +3% stat such as Attack, Health, Defense, Tech, etc
  • +5% stat for a certain group such as Klingon, Starfleet, etc

Only one crew member can be selected for each role

Goals/Achievements

star trek legends equipment

Goals : Goals are minor achievements for learning gameplay basics and completing early story missions. At the time of writing this, mine is bugged an although I’ve completed the last goal I cannot collect my reward.

Achievements : As listed on your Steam profile, these are the same Achievements and they do offer a latinum bonus once completed. You can see your progress for each achievement.

star trek legends equipment

News displays some brief details about new operations, and what characters is the reward for completion.

star trek legends equipment

Upon completing a story-based mission, you can send away team of up to 4 to go collect XP, latimum, and a number of other listed awards. You can send this team away fro up to 12 hours and can recall them at any time, but the longer they are away the better the rewards. You can send up to 3 away teams at a time.

Crew sent away will be unavailable for story-based Missions and Operations.

star trek legends equipment

Operations are a progressing difficulty for higher rewards. Doing so will reward you with Events Points. You can use these to collect rewards (from the Events tab) and eventually you’ll unlock a character if you play enough. These are on a rotation and remaining time tables are listed in many places.

Crew sent on Shuttle Missions are not available for Operations.

star trek legends equipment

This is where you spend many of your currencies to gain the materials needed to update your crew

Front : Rotates daily, sale price for a listed material and characters tokens for rank increases

Crew: Bio-mimetic gel for crew XP, and protomatter for skills increases. Daily limits apply

Particles : Crew can have up to 2 at a time, and these give bonuses in combat and can be upgrades

Alliance : Where you spend crystals from alliance battles. I have not used this feature yet

Survival : Where you spend your survival points for orbs, Bio-mimetic gel, particles, and power cells for particle increases

star trek legends equipment

This is where you get to battle another players, although you get some choice you don’t get to just fight newbies til you unlock the achievements.

Seasons : Lists rewards for winning a rank tier from from high 100 to 10,001+

Ranking : Bank page, not used?

My Rank : Your rank from 1 and up. There is an achievement for getting Rank 5

Daily Replicator : Points gained from PVP fights will let you unlock materials. Rotates daily

star trek legends equipment

This is the selection screen when you’re about to face another player. When you select your crew you will see who gets the Cover spots. You will also see the enemy team, the enemy player rank, and their particles used.

New Enemy : Lets you randomly select a new enemy and they could have a higher or lower rank than you. You can do this up to 3 times before you must win a PVP fight.

Battle : Engages the fight. If this is grey you cannot begin combat. Try unselecting and reselecting your crew again.

BUG : If you get an error saying ONLINE CONNECTION FAILED during PVP you will be prompted to restart the game and you’ll be sent back to the main menu. This is not an error on your part or your connection, but it means you’ve hit your limit for PVP fights for a short time. According to a post in the discussion section where this limit is lifted after 2.5 hours or so.

star trek legends equipment

A PVP fight will player very much like any other fight, only you’ll be fighting a crew put together by another player. The enemy is not present playing against you. Typically, if the enemy team has a crew member you are also using, that enemy will have the initiative on you crew member.

TIP : Do not use Auto-play if you’re trying to win. Your team will use all their buffs but not choosing your targets or abilities hinders you.

star trek legends equipment

Alliance battles are fights with a progressive difficulty. Once you select an alliance and complete a number of missions you can gain a replicator reward. Raids run on the same cooldown as PVP so you can’t just play to your hearts’ content.

star trek legends equipment

This is where you view your progress during certain Operations. The duration of the Operation will also be listed here. Once you’ve received a number of points you can also collect your reward in the form of replicated materials.

star trek legends equipment

Survival is progressive diffuclty. Although you get some chance to pick from a pre-selected team. There’s no guarantee you will get to pick your dream team. For 100 survival points you can reshuffle the pre-slected crew.

Survival will play like story missions since there will be a number of fights before you end the level and progress to the next. Instead of Explore or Intel, Survival will let you choose one of two paths, one likely giving a type or reward and the other path offering another or even a Boss fight for greater rewards. Some parts will let you select a team upgrade or enemy debuff for a listed number of fights. There will also be Resource sections where you will gain freebies.

Once you have the resources (latinum and survival points) you can upgrade some some team stats for Survival mode only.

star trek legends equipment

This is where you will randomly summon new crew members to complete your collections. Duplicate crew summoned will generate tokens you can use to upgrade their ranks. Crew have a set rarity so some characters appear more frequently than others.

You can choose to summon crew, or select a bridge type such as Command, Medical, Security, and Engineering to summon a crew from that group. This is great if you want finish a collection for a certain group or increases you chance to certain favorite character.

star trek legends equipment

Once your ready to summon you can choose how many orbs you want to use. 50 – 75 are required depending on what group you want to summon. You can summon multiple crew if you have the orbs and this will summon an appropriate amount of new crew or duplicate tokens.

Collections

star trek legends equipment

This is where you can view your summoned crew grouped in the series they appeared and types such as aliens, Captains, Crew Types, etc. Once you’ve filled a group, you can click the relicator icon to get some freebies.

Collections only lets you view your summoned crew, not look at their states, gear, or particles.

star trek legends equipment

This is where you can view your crew, organizing them bu Role, Rarity, Power, and Tone Count. Characters can be viewed even if they are not summoned. Upgrading gears require a number of latimum and materials. Gaining and upgrading skills require latinum and protomatter of that crew type.

Selecting a character will let you view their skills and stats, select and upgrade available particles and great, and rank up with character tokens. The icon (i) next to rarity will show your their in-game stats. Enhance will allow you to gain xp from Bio-mimetic gels.

star trek legends equipment

Missions are the story of Star Trek: Legends, with a plot revolving the Nexus where the game takes place. Iconic characters will appear in an 8 Chapter story.

You will choose your team and engage in a number of combats till you complete the section. There are six sections per chapter and the difficulty increases as with the story.

Intel : Gives you some flavor to the story but not in-game effect

Explore : Gives you a series of options that affect your game play. This is where you can Negotiate your way out of a fight, explore a different path, use Science or Engineering to make something happen, etc. This will branch you away from the path to another. You can go back to these sections once you have the required crew member and their skill cost to choose the road not taken

Power-Ups : Gives your team a buff for a few rounds, or the enemy a debuff

Once all your crew are defeated the mission is a failure. You can abandon the story and return at a later time but must star the section of a chapter over.

After completion, a region around the story can be explored by a Shuttle.

Star Trek: Legends – Game Review

Dom Paris

Legendary characters from across the Star Trek Universe feature in the new RPG Star Trek: Legends , but how good is the gameplay?

The past, present and future collide in Star Trek: Legends , a new RPG developed by Emerald City Games and now available exclusively on Apple Arcade. Published by Tilting Point in partnership with ViacomCBS, Star Trek: Legends features a brand-new storyline from comic book author and Star Trek writer Mike Johnson.

We’ve played it, and are loving it, so here is a look into this brand new Trek mobile game and how we found it!

The gameplay of Star Trek: Legends revolves around forming teams of 4 characters and fighting rival teams in turn-based combat. Each character on your team has different abilities you can use to achieve victory against your enemy.

Star Trek: Legends

The combat is surprisingly deep, and you don’t only have to defeat your enemy in one particular way. Instead of dealing enough damage to them, you can actually demoralise them into giving up, which is nice to see. A lot of Trek games run into the issue of how to convey Trek action yet still have an interesting game without devolving into mindless violence, which I think Star Trek: Legends has been able to do. It isn’t as deep as it could be, but it walks a fine line.

Star Trek: Legends

The main part of the game is going through the main story, where you dispatch a group of 4 characters on a mission, where they have to overcome numerous challenges. From waves of enemies to obstacles where you have choices on how to overcome them.

For example, if you come across the door and have an engineer on your team, you may be able to open it, but if you have Worf on your team you also have the choice of simply destroying the door.

Star Trek: Legends

The gameplay is repetitive, so if you do not like the core gameplay of this game it is not for you. However, the variety of characters and their abilities do allow for interesting gameplay that does help to spice it up.

There is also a PVP mode; where you fight against other real peoples strongest units and climb up the rankings, as well as a “Alliance” mode which is essentially the guild system of this game, where you join guilds and take part in events

For a mobile game, it has a surprisingly engaging story. After the Nexus incident of 2371, seen in the movie Star Trek: Generations, Starfleet created the USS Artemis, a vessel that is capable of entering the Nexus and recovering all those that may be lost inside. This is basically the main way the story allows you to collect crew members from various different timelines in Star Trek , from Phlox in Enterprise all the way to Seven of Nine from Voyager !

Star Trek: Legends

The story follows you as the Captain of the USS Artemis, with your three main crew members of Michael Burnham, Dr. Leonard McCoy and Worf! A very interesting mix of characters you wouldn’t normally get, but the strongest part about this is the interactions between these three characters. McCoy wonders how Burnham knows Spock, whilst both McCoy and Burnham are surprised by Worf, a Klingon in Starfleet. I won’t be spoiling the entire story for you, as it seems to not even be finished yet, but it delves into the mystery of the Nexus from Star Trek: Generations in a very interesting way, which makes you appreciate that movie much more, or at least I did.

Star Trek: Legends

I have enjoyed the main story, which makes sense as the story is written by notable Trek comic writer Mike Johnson, who recently wrote the great Star Trek: Picard – Countdown comic series which I also very much enjoyed.

I find that a lot of this recent ancillary content, from the books to this game, do a great job of expanding on the Pandora’s boxes opened by main Trek. Whether this is the recently introduced Mycelium Network established in Star Trek: Discovery being expanded extremely well in the book “Dead Endless” or the Nexus being expanded in this game.

One of the main comments both us and many others have had about this game is its art style, which is absolutely beautiful. Most of the Trek Mobile games go for a 2D realistic art style, as can be seen in Tilting Points previous game “Star Trek: Timelines”. As is obvious the art style is 3D but in a more cartoonish style.

Star Trek: Legends

All the Star Trek: Legends character models look amazing in this art style, and it is great we are getting Trek in more art styles officially compared to just live-action. Returning characters like William T. Riker and Deanna Troi worked extremely well translated into the Star Trek: Lower Decks art style and let’s hope we have the same for Kathryn Janeway in Star Trek: Prodigy .

Star Trek: Legends

I also should talk about the USS Artemis, NCC 0327. It is a really beautiful looking ship, yet still very original with an iconic saucer and two nacelles look to it. What is interesting and unique about it I guess is its deflector dish being on top of the saucer, and a smaller middle nacelle, which could be used for entering the Nexus? Whatever it is, the ship is a nice addition to Trek ships before it.

Star Trek: Legends

Star Trek: Legends is a game I have massively enjoyed and I definitely recommend it to anyone who is considering playing it. It does not have any of the problems I usually have with mobile games, namely microtransactions and stamina systems which limit how much you can play, and has a really interesting story behind it. Without spoiling any of the story, this game has made me retroactively love Star Trek: Generations even more than I previously did, and that is high praise.

For systems like recruiting characters, it may still be random like most mobile gacha style games, but this game at least tells you the percentage chance of getting that rare character you are trying to recruit. Hopefully, this game will allow for more in-depth Star Trek Role Playing games in the future, on other systems, which would just be great, as it is a space that has been vacant for quite some time. Star Trek: Legends will be supported with future updates and events, so it will be fun to see what characters they bring into the game in the future. The game already has a great variety of characters, but the more the merrier!

Available on Apple Arcade

Star Trek : Legends is now available on Apple Arcade via iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV. If you’re new to Apple Arcade, there is a 1 month trial offer on sign up, followed by a £4.99 (UK) /$4.99 (US) monthly charge, or annual plans are available for £49.99/$49.99 plus one month free trial. Star Trek Legends Is, Amazingly, A Gacha Game With No Microtransactions

It's gacha, Jim, but not as we know it.

It's a strange sensation playing Star Trek Legends. It has all the hallmarks of the kind of scummy gacha games that exist purely to extract money from people. But because it's on Apple Arcade, it has no microtransactions, energy meters, or other 'freemium' features designed to encourage players to reach for their credit cards. This means you can enjoy the positive qualities of a gacha game without having to endure the manipulative, bank-draining negatives, which is just refreshing .

In Star Trek Legends you command the U.S.S. Artemis, a starship created to rescue people trapped in an extra-dimensional realm known as the Nexus. If you've seen the movie Star Trek Generations, which introduced the Nexus, you'll know that basically anything can happen inside it—making it the perfect place to set a gacha game stuffed with iconic Star Trek heroes and villains who otherwise would never cross paths. As you play, you meet and recruit characters from every era of the show.

Related: If You Love The Witcher, You Need To Play Thronebreaker

Commanding the Artemis, it's your job to fly into the Nexus, recruit famous faces from the history of Star Trek, and battle various threats—including a rogue AI, the Cardassians, and the Gorn. The self-aware story chips along at a breezy pace, and it's clear the writers are enjoying throwing these familiar characters together and imagining how they might interact. Michael Burnham from Star Trek Discovery is understandably shocked to witness Worf, a Klingon, proudly wearing a Starfleet uniform.

There are around 40 characters, all beautifully rendered in an expressive, cartoony style that brilliantly captures the quirks and identifying traits of their TV counterparts. There are plenty of big marquee names to add to your crew, including Spock, Kirk, Picard, and Janeway, but also some deeper cuts, such as Voyager's beleaguered medical hologram, Picard's hard-boiled detective alter ego Dixon Hill, and Deep Space 9's shapeshifting security chief Odo. It's basically one big fanfic, but I love it.

The bulk of the game is made up of fun, lively turn-based battles that have the feel of a classic JRPG. Your party's abilities reflect the characters you've picked, so Worf favours melee strikes with his trusty bat'leth, Dr. McCoy heals injured allies, and Geordi La Forge can use his tech skills to buff their energy shields. The animation is fantastic , which really brings the battles to life and injects the game with heaps of personality—even if the essentially non-stop fighting does occasionally get repetitive.

It's a simple combat system, but with some interesting systems to play with. If you manage to reduce an enemy's morale, their attacks do less damage and they'll even flee the battle if it gets too low. Having Worf unleash a fearsome Klingon battle cry and seeing his opponent run away in terror is highly satisfying. It works the other way too: Picard can use his rep as a Starfleet legend to increase allies' morale, giving them a nice damage boost and the chance to sneak in an extra attack.

The gacha element in Star Trek Legends lies in how you recruit people from the Nexus. As you play through the story, a currency called Summon Orbs is earned that can be used to power up a transporter and unlock a random character. There are plenty of junk pulls, like nameless redshirt security officers, but there's also that small, tantalising chance you'll summon someone exciting. Yeah, it's a slot machine—but the fact you can only earn orbs, and not buy them, makes it feel way less gross.

Star Trek Legends is weird . It's the archetypal freemium mobile game in almost every respect, but with no pop-ups or notificians trying to get you to spend money, and currency that can only be earned in-game. I get the feeling that one day it'll be released outside of Apple Arcade and become the game it was always designed to be. But until then, I'm enjoying playing one of these games without feeling guilty about it. It also helps that I'm a huge Star Trek nerd and it's laser-targeted at me.

Introducing the Discovery Legends Reputation

By Ambassador Kael | Fri 03 May 2019 09:00:00 AM PDT

star trek legends equipment

The Discovery Legends Expedition seeks to understand the pivotal events of the 2250s and the people those events revolved around. The consequences of this time continue to resonate through the galaxy today, and J’Ula has made it painfully clear that more secrets remain to be found. Separation of fact from myth is necessary. A mix of black market acquisitions, archeological expeditions, and defense industry research, this group seeks to catalogue and remember the facts of our history.

This new reputation will be available with Rise of Discovery and will feature all new traits, kit modules, space equipment sets and a ground equipment set, as well as new ground armor and space visuals.

Progression

Submitting  Discovery Marks  will increase your standing with the Discovery Legends Expedition. These can be earned by participating in “ Operation Riposte ”, our newest queue, as well as participating in the “Peril Over Pahvo”, “Defense of Starbase One”, or “Pahvo Dissention” TFOs. These sources of marks have scaling rewards, increasing the number of Discovery Marks received by performing above expectations or completing bonus objectives.

P.stellaviatori Spores can be earned by participating in the  Advanced  and  Elite  versions of the “ Operation Riposte ” queue, as well as the “Peril Over Pahvo”, “Defense of Starbase One”, or “Pahvo Dissention” TFOs. P.stellaviatori Spores have been recovered from these areas, sourced from illicit traders, and even sometimes produced directly by the Mycelial Network. The Discovery Legends Expedition is attempting to acquire all such samples available, both for study and protective purposes. As such, the Discovery Legends Expedition rewards turning these fragments in when they can be recovered. In addition to all the gear that can be only be obtained with P.stellaviatori Spore Canisters, the Discovery Legends Expedition will also exchange  Dilithium Ore for them .

Rewards

Discovery Marks and P.stellaviatori Spore Canisters can be submitted for Reputation XP and new, high-quality gear acquisitions. Here are a few examples of the items which can be earned by advancing your standing in the Discovery Legends Expedition:

Stamets and Tilly’s Ingenuity (Space Set – 4 Pieces)

  • This deflector array is optimized for survival, built to withstand both the rigors of active duty and the vagaries of eclectic engineers. It improves the Hull Capacity of the ship and provides additional resistance against damage from Torpedoes which improves based on the ship’s Hull Capacity.
  • These Combat Impulse Engines operate very well on incidental power alone. Excess power is diverted automatically as needed, resulting in a boost to Engine Power outside combat and a boost to Shield Power inside combat.
  • This warp core has been modified with a set of Mycelial conduits which wrap around the primary EPS conduits like vines on a trellis. Built on Field Stabilizing architecture, it improves Shield Power natively. The structural integrity field of the ship benefits greatly from this arrangement, and the ship receives a bonus to Hull Capacity based on the Shield Power level of the ship.
  • This shield was modified by an enterprising engineer in ways which have not technically passed safety inspections. The results are quite tempting – the excess energy flowing through the system improves the ship’s Hull Capacity by way of the structural integrity field. Further, the ship’s weapons carry a charge from passing through this shield, disrupting enemy shields based on the ship’s Shield Power.

Below are the set bonuses for this new space equipment set:

Stamets-Tilly Field Modifications Set Bonuses (Space)

  • Enormous bonus to in-combat Hull Regeneration (Hull Regeneration is based on Hull Capacity).
  • Your first Weapon Attack against each target triggers a blast of Mycelial energy, dealing damage based on your Hull Capacity.
  • To foes in an area centered on target foe:
  • Deal damage to enemies based on your Hull Capacity, divided by the number of targets hit.
  • Each foe hit provides a stacking Hull Capacity bonus to yourself, duration is permanent but the buff is cleared on map move.

Lorca’s Ambition (Space Weapon Set – 3 Pieces)

  • This Quantum Torpedo launcher has been infused with the unorthodox Dark Matter pellets collected by Captain Gabriel Lorca. Ships struck by this weapon begin to disintegrate, receiving damage over time that accumulates as more torpedoes impact its hull. When the torpedo critically strikes an enemy ship, twice as much damage over time is applied. If the ship is destroyed during this damage over time, it disintegrates completely.
  • This prototype weapon system is available in either Phaser or Disruptor configuration. Modeled after traditional Dual Beam Banks, it offers greater overall damage and Critical Severity, but is more cumbersome and slower to fire.
  • After the loss of the U.S.S. Buran , Captain Gabriel Lorca modified the U.S.S. Discovery with additional access to primary systems from the center chair. Fire control received special attention. This configuration allows for moderate increases to Weapon Power and Shield Penetration, and a very significant increase to Critical Chance.

Lorca’s Ambition Set Bonuses (Space)

  • On critically striking, gain a stacking bonus to Critical Severity.
  • Automatically launch one Dark Matter Quantum Torpedo at enemies who fall below 50% Health. Max one torpedo per second, no more than one torpedo per enemy.

  Burnham’s Resolve (Ground Set – 3 Pieces)

  • Available in both Armor and Environmental Suit configurations, this heavily modified piece of gear is optimized for movement by a Suus Manha master and hardened against harm both physical and mental. It improves its user’s Physical Damage and Run Speed, as well as providing robust protection against all forms of damage and a significant increase in Willpower.
  • Upon earning all three pieces of the Ground Set, you will be automatically granted a Costume Unlock for the purposes of displaying the unique visuals that accompany this armor.
  • Developed for situations of extreme adversity in close quarters combat, this shield releases explosively when it’s breached by incoming damage, Exposing and Slowing all nearby enemies. These optimizations have an incidental benefit of optimizing the shield’s raw capacity.

Mind Meld Device Mk XII

  • Cadet Sylvia Tilly and Specialist Michael Burnham created a device to enhance Burnham's connection to Ambassador Sarek. This device replicates many of the features of the Vulcan Mind Meld, albeit incompletely. Investigation for field usage by untrained personnel mostly produced dead-ends, with a notable exception -- the device seems to work well with simple motor skills and muscle memory graft techniques. Wielding the Mind Meld Device will grant a simplified version of Suus Manha to the wielder, greatly amplifying Martial Arts capability.
  • Palm Strike is replaced with Engage , a very short recharge lunge that Roots enemies the first time it strikes them and Slows them on subsequent use.
  • Martial Arts Finishers are devastating , dealing massively improved damage and always either Exploiting or Exposing depending on which Finisher is used. (Weaving together Left and Right melee attacks into sequences of three attacks causes the third attack to be a Martial Arts Finisher. At least one attack from each category, Left and Right, must be used to create a Finisher.)

Below are the set bonuses for this new ground equipment set:

Burnham’s Resolve Set Bonuses (Ground)

  • Exploiting an Exposed enemy significantly reduces its Physical Resistance
  • Performing a Martial Arts Finisher restores Health and improves Kit Module recharge time

star trek legends equipment

Kit Modules

  • Places a buff on the user for an extended duration. During this time, lethal damage will instead cause the user to be returned at full Health to where they were when they activated the device. Also during this time, using any Kit Module will reduce the remaining recharge time of other Kit Modules by a portion of the used Kit Module's cooldown. Harcourt Fenton Mudd is not responsible for lost items, memories, jippers, or other negative consequences of any kind from use of this device. He is definitely responsible for positive consequences.
  • Intended for industrial applications, this gravity containment unit has been modified for more rigorous field use. It forcefully pulls all enemies in an area toward the user, depositing them unceremoniously at the user's feet, dealing modest physical damage.

star trek legends equipment

The Discovery Legends Expedition introduces the following new reputation traits:

Tier 1 – Ground

  • Improves your Damage Over Time and Area of Effect Damage Resistance.
  • Grants Bonus Weapon Damage based on your Distance to Target, improving the closer you are.

Tier 2 – Space

  • Applying Control abilities to enemy ships adds a stack of Saru’s Grace to your ship, improving Damage and Speed for a time.

Tier 3 – Ground

  • Performing a Critical Hit cleanses one random debuff from you, with a brief cooldown.
  • Applying Control abilities to enemies adds a stack of Saru’s Grace to you, improving Damage and Speed for a time.

Tier 4 – Space

  • Gain Critical Chance based off Hull Capacity.

Tier 5 – Space

  • Activating this trait will deploy an asteroid with unusual gravitational properties behind your ship, tethered by tractor beams. It follows behind your ship, pulling in all nearby enemies and dealing damage over time to them.

The Discovery Legends Expedition looks forward to your contributions to the cause of galactic understanding. If that cause should prove insufficient, this panoply of technology will no doubt sway even the hardest of hearts. Good hunting out there!

This reputation will be available with the launch of Rise of Discovery , and will be available for testing on Tribble soon. All abilities and items found here are subject to change.

Customer Reviews

I really like this Star Trek TNG pinball game. And it plays fine for me on my AtGames 4K pinball machine. The flipper lag is not a problem for me. I would like to see more control/accuracy with the ball plunger, but that is not a critical factor. I have this game on Steam and Pinball FX and it plays pretty closely to those versions, but the 4K SSF really helps the audio with this 4K version. It would be nicer to have the later color DMD, and to have the back screen image fill the full screen width. I've only had this 4K version of the game for a couple days, but it is addictive, and worth the $15 price to me.

Let's get the good out of the way: It's Star Trek: TNG, and the original table is an undeniable classic. Replicating that experience in the digital realm should be a slam dunk. Unfortunately, this version falls disappointingly short.

Flipper Lag: The most glaring issue is the significant flipper lag. Precise shots are crucial on this table, and the lag makes it frustratingly difficult to hit them consistently. Whether you're aiming for the spinner or lock orbits, late shots are a constant threat, often resulting in unfair drains. The flipper lag turns what should be satisfying skill shots into a frustrating guessing game.

Visual Disappointment: The table's visuals are surprisingly underwhelming. The wireforms look rusted, poorly textured, and overall lackluster. The table itself appears flat and lifeless, lacking the depth and detail expected from a modern digital recreation. For a table that should be a visual feast, the graphics fall disappointingly short of the 4K mark. This looks clearly worse than any of the other tables already released on the 4kp.

While the core Star Trek: TNG experience is present, the execution leaves much to be desired. The significant flipper lag, disappointing visuals, and unforgiving gameplay make this digital adaptation a frustrating experience. It's a shame to see a beloved classic table marred by such technical and aesthetic shortcomings.

Recommendation: I'd strongly recommend exploring other options. At 3x the cost of Attack from Mars, and having such unforgiving gameplay when there's lag, there's simply no reason to buy this until it's $5 or the lag is fixed.

This digital release feels like a missed opportunity. With some much-needed improvements to the flipper lag and visuals, it could be a worthy tribute to the original. Until then, it's a voyage best avoided.

Sigh… I was so pumped for this. I own all the Zen tables for console (Pinball FX), they are fantastic, but these 4k tables need a lot of work. Flipper lag has been improved but not quite there and makes play feel a bit slow (Magic Pixel tables have zero lag, so this is doable). As others have stated, the resolution looks a little funky; the overall table to me looks a little, warped? Smushed? On my Xbox these tables are at a different angle, so perhaps something happened when trying to shoehorn them into the angle our AtGames 4k tables. Lighting… needs some Love. Everything feels bright and frankly, a bit unrealistic. Some darkness, shadows etc would make a huge difference. How about a daytime/nighttime option like Zaccaria? What an awesome feature. Also a big issue for me is the lack of the SSF kit being utilized… Again go play one of the Zaccaria remake tables and compare, Magic Pixel are not messing around. You got this, Zen 🙏

I recently bought this pack, but it was a letdown. The graphics look cheap, and gameplay is out of sync. It's not worth the high price. Disappointing for any Star Trek and pinball enthusiast.

I buy everything that Atgames and Zen puts out, but I am really upset at how bad this table looks. I play it all the time in VPX and it is such a stunning table. It plays just ok in the Atgames and Zen rendition with a little flipper lag and even worse plunger lag. The graphics on the table are just garbage. The wire ramps look horrendous. This is my favorite all time pinball game and this rendition is just lacking so much. So far, I have given Atgames and Zen the benefit of the doubt on fixing things, but I can't keep buying these and not saying anything about it. I will write a review for each new table they release from now on.
