Sevendust is an American alternative metal band from Atlanta, Georgia. Formed in 1994, the group went through multiple name changes before settling on the name Sevendust and releasing their debut album.

The original members of the band, Lajon Witherspoon, John Connolly, Clint Lowery, Vince Hornsby and Morgan Rose, came together in 1994 and worked constantly on their sound for a few years before releasing any material. In 1996 the band released the track “My Ruin” which was featured on videogame soundtrack, “More Kombat”.

The band’s heavy riffs and thrashing drum lines proved popular with fans and, after extensive touring to support the release of their debut album, “Sevendust”, in 1997, the album was finally certified gold despite only getting to 165 on the US Billboard chart.

With a legion of fans in their corner after their extensive touring for the album “Sevendust”, the band released their second studio album “Home” in 1999, which shot to the number 19 spot in the US Billboard chart. Like it’s predecessor, the album was eventually certified gold.

To widen their audience, the band toured extensively worldwide alongside huge bands such as Metallica, Korn, Limp Bizkit, Nonpoint, Kid Rock and Creed. With this exposure the band achieved their biggest success to date in 2003 with the album “Seasons”, which peaked at the number 14 position on the US Billboard chart. The band’s first top 10 single also came from this album, with “Enemy” hitting the number 10 spot on the US Mainstream Rock chart.

It was seven years before Sevendust was able to outdo the success of “Seasons”. In 2010, the band released “Cold Day Memory” which shot to number 12 on the US Billboard chart. The album’s lead single, “Unravelling” also performed well, getting to number seven on the US Mainstream Rock chart.

When asked to describe their genre of music, Sevendust has struggled to define their style. Instead, they explain that their music has evolved through a number of sub genres including nu metal, heavy metal and rock. Sevendust claim their influences as Twisted Sister, Anthrax and Ministry.

Live reviews

Whether a small or big concert hall or festival stage, Sevendust delivers the goods and well at that! The first time I saw 7D, I arrived at a moderate size arena they were playing at just at the tail end of their set. Much to my dismay I also missed an autograph session they held in the lobby after that by a hair's breadth. Since then, however, I saw them rock the afternoon concert stage electric fashion at Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar three years ago. Singer Lajon Witherspoon's voice is nothing short of amazing as his impressive vocal range and style can morph from loud and gravelly to quiet and melodic, making for a great sing-along! Just recently during the end of the first leg of their current tour, they played a more intimate concert, namely an acoustic set at a Knights of Columbus Hall in my home state. It put the music in a whole new perspective and with a catered lunch and open bar, made for a true party atmosphere. Drummer Morgan Rose provided a hypnotic back beat with his bongo drum set and guitarists Clint Lowery and John Connolly along with Vince Hornsby's bass playing created melodies that were nothing short of intricate and infectious. In addition, I was finally able to get closure on a missed meet&greet from four years ago, something I told Witherspoon I had been angling to do since then when I spoke with him after the concert and was gracious about taking a picture with me for posterity as well. A grand day out!

Now this is going back to 2016, but I have to beg for you guys to PLEASE do another tour of Australia and maybe drag Disturbed with you? That would be one epic event I would give a testicle to be at! Not really but you get my passion...

Huge appreciation for not skipping the most isolated city in the known universe, Perth, Western Australia too, made my decade!

Capitol nightclub turned into the most charged atmosphere in the country that night and Kill The Flaw were awesome support. Seeing the guys interact with the audience and get emotional when playing Shine and Angel's Son made it feel like a very special, soulful event.

So thank you for all your hard work and dedication to your craft, you're truly masters at it and have inspired and strengthened me through some extremely trying and tough times. Wouldn't mind hearing a little more off Seasons next time, like Burned Out and Suffocate. ;-) Keep rocking guys, you're all inspirational, not least for staying together and having a true and obvious bond us fans certainly appreciate. No sellouts. Kudos!

The show was amazing. They played all the good songs, like 3 or 4 from every album. Even songs from Next that didn't include Clint, which is pretty cool now that he is back in the band. The sound was good at The Opera House in Toronto. The lights and atmosphere were killer. The big highlight of the night was Angel's Son. It gave me goose bumps because it was so meaningful and heartfelt. At the end of the night Lajon came out after he was done the meet and greet on the bus and met us all. He gave me a big hug saying that he didn't want to leave Toronto and thanked everyone for their support of the band. He signed everyone's items and my girlfriend's arm. He let everyone take lots of pictures which he seemed to enjoy, very humble. I would recommend Sevendust to anyone that loves a killer hook, great singing and heavy drums, just in the right proportions. Very professional, very polite. Absolutely amazing.

You would think that after seeing this band perform live 10 times that I would get tired of or find no value in seeing them again but that just couldn't be further from the truth. Sevendust always delivers and makes a connection with the crowd. They create such an amazing atmosphere for themselves and the fans... or as they say "family". Sidewise opened for them and they were quite good. The other opening band was the new up-and-comers Gemini Syndrome. They had a few sound issues but they were great too.

If you like their music and ever get a chance to see Sevendust YOU WILL NOT be disappointed! EVER!

Absolutely awesome show. I love the small venues. I had never heard of Silent Season before and they put on a very good show. Gemini syndrome was awesome and after their show they joined the crowd for Sevendust. This might sound different but Sevendust microphone stand was awesome, it reminded me of a lightsaber. First time at the Pensacola vinyl music hall, nice place. Not as big as I expected but that made the show that much more personable. Prices weren't outrageous. I look forward to seeing them again.

You can never go wrong with a Sevendust show! They have so much energy! So happy and appreciative of their fans base! Every song was a banger! Even the opening acts, Tremonti, Cane Hill and especially a band I haven’t listened to in the past called Lullwater has gained some new fans from our group. They really jammed! Can’t wait for the next tour! Always a Sevendust fan!

I have been to several concerts at Iron City over the last 6 years...Seether with Saint Asonia...Blue October...and a few others. The Sevendust concert was by far the best. They sounded absolutely amazing. They interacted with the crowd and made us all feel like family.

Absolutely amazing, such a cool band, they even were respectful enough to stop mid show for a lady who got injured, absolutely an awesome show, in my opinion one of my favorite shows of all time, and i loved the sevendust stranger things drum cover that there drummer had

INCREDIBLE SHOW!!! This was my first time seeing Sevendust and I can't wait to see them again. Truly a powerful, energetic performance. If you've never seen, you're missing out -- GO!! What an amazing band....

Sevendust kicked ass like always. First time seeing or hearing skillet. Skillet sucks a wannabe angry band. Im somewhat biased though. Im not angry anymore. Pop evil was ok. Good show.

Sevendust, Static-X Plot 2023 Tour

The Machine Killer trek launches in October

Sevendust and Static-X are joining forces for a fall trek across the U.S. The Machine Killer Tour kicks off at 713 Music Hall on October 6 in Houston and wraps up at The Wiltern on November 1 in Los Angeles. Special guests for the run will be Dope and Lines of Loyalty.

General tickets go on on sale this Friday, June 16 at 10am local time HERE . VIP packages for Sevendust are is on sale now at  Sevendust.com . Static-X mailing list members will be sent a special pre-sale code tomorrow to purchase tickets. Fans can sign up now at Static-X.com .

“We can’t wait to hit the road with our friends in Static-X and DOPE,” Sevendust frontman Lajon Witherspoon stated. “It has been 24 years since the last time we have shared a stage with those guys. We can’t wait to do it again this Fall and to bring together all of our family members together in one place.”

“We are excited to bring the fans an even bigger and better show than the last one” says Xer0. “We are already building the new production elements and we intend to blow the roofs off of these venues each night.” 

“We are beyond thrilled to be touring with Sevendust again” says Static-X guitarist Tony Campos. “They bring one hell of a show each and every night, so this tour is going to be one for the ages.”

“We’re excited to join our friends in Static-X and Dope who we share much history with on tour,” adds Sevendust guitarist Clint Lowery. “I have no doubt that this will be an extremely entertaining and high production run. The bands and the fans have much to look forward to on this one. Do not miss out!”

Sevendust’s upcoming fourteenth studio album Truth Killer arrives on July 28 via Napalm Records. The album was produced by long-time collaborator Michael “Elvis” Baskette (Falling In Reverse, Alter Bridge, Limp Bizkit). The band has revealed two tracks from the record so far – “Fence” and “Everything.” The GRAMMY ®  Award nominees will be on tour with Alter Bridge in North America in August.

Static-X recently wrapped up their Rise of The Machine Tour. The original lineup of Tony Campos, Koichi Fukuda and Ken Jay backed by frontman Xer0 sold out 37 of their 42 dates on the run, while showcasing the largest stage production that Static-X has ever put together. The band promises that the production on  The Truth Killer Tour  is going to be even bigger and more impressive this time around.

Continuing to create new music, Static-X announced  Project Regeneration: Vol 2  and released the first single from that album – a cover of the Nine Inch Nails classic “Terrible Lie.” The upcoming album is produced by the band’s current vocalist/guitarist Xer0 and mixed/mastered by long-time collaborator Ulrich Wild. The new album is available for pre-order now HERE in various configurations including limited color vinyl, limited shirts, hoodies and more.

Back in February, Dope released their latest effort Blood Money Part ZerO , a follow up to 2016’s Blood Money Part 1 .

Sevendust Guitarist to Sit Out Tour, Statement Released

Sevendust have revealed that guitarist Clint Lowery will be sitting out their upcoming tour.

According to a statement issued by the band, Lowery was advised by doctors to sit out the run after suffering a recent neck injury.

What Sevendust Said About Clint Lowery's Absence

In a message posted to their Facebook account , the band noted, "7D Family, We are excited to get on the road and celebrate the 21st Anniversary of Seasons with you all. Unfortunately due to a recent neck injury and under doctor’s advisement, our brother Clint Lowery is going to have to miss these dates. He has been instructed to rest to allow the injury to heal and rocking with you all would work against his recovery from this injury."

They continued the statement, revealing, "Thankfully, we have been able to recruit some last minute replacements on guitar with Clint’s blessings. Jon Jourdan from Mammoth WVH will be filling in for most of the dates and our longtime manager and friend Tim Tournier will be picking up the guitar duties for the shows Jon has to miss. We can’t wait to see all of our fans ‘Face to Face’ as we celebrate Seasons live! Get well soon Clint!"

Where You Can See Sevendust in 2024

The band will kick off the run this Friday (Sept. 13) in Hampton Beach, New Hampshire with dates booked through Oct. 8 in Salt Lake City, Utah. As was noted in the statement, these shows are meant as a celebration of the band's 21st anniversary of their album Seasons .

The 2003 album featured the singles "Enemy," "Broken Down" and "Face to Face." It was their fourth studio album and peaked at No. 14 on the Billboard Album Chart upon its release. 10 Years, Return to Dust and Horizon Theory will be providing support over the course of the run. Tickets can be found through the Sevendust website .

After wrapping the final leg of the "Machine Killer" tour with STATIC-X , metal legends SEVENDUST are heading back on the road this September to celebrate the 21st anniversary of their iconic album "Seasons" . "Seasons" is the fourth album from the band's catalog and exploded on to the metal world when it was released in October 2003. The album spawned a Top 10 Rock single with "Enemy" and the album closer "Face To Face" is a show staple and fan favorite of SEVENDUST to this day.

The tour kicks off on September 13 in Hampton Beach, New Hampshire and runs through October 8 where it wraps up in Salt Lake City, Utah. The tour will make stops in New York City (September 19),the band's hometown of Atlanta, Georgia (September 25),Dallas, Texas (October 2) and Denver, Colorado (October 7),to name a few. Support on the trek will come from 10 YEARS , RETURN TO DUST and HORIZON THEORY . SEVENDUST will also make stops at the OC Bike Fest , Louder Than Life and Aftershock festivals.

SEVENDUST 's fourth studio album, "Seasons" was the band's final LP with TVT Records and was dedicated to the memory to both Dave Williams ( DROWNING POOL 's original singer),who died of cardiomyopathy in August 2002, and Reginald Witherspoon ( SEVENDUST singer Lajon Witherspoon 's younger brother),who was murdered in November 2002.

"Seasons" was, for a time, the band's last album with guitarist Clint Lowery as he left in 2004. Lowery returned to SEVENDUST in March 2008 and has remained with the group ever since.

In an interview with Audacy Music , Lajon was asked if he thinks his band has gotten the "respect" that it deserves. He responded: "Oh, what a great question that I kind of don't wanna answer. I do feel like we've gotten our due. I feel like that definitely this band — I don't even know how to say it. I feel like we've got incredible opportunities in just great situations that we've been in. But I feel like definitely there would've been definitely room for us to be in a different setting, if that makes sense. I don't know the reason why — I don't know. But I'm happy where I'm at. I'm very blessed. I'm so excited about the new signing of the new record deal with Napalm and the work they put behind the album It seems like even though we've been at it for such a long time, it's a new beginning for us, and I'm very happy and I'm very proud and ready just to continue to work, to write some more music."

In 2022, NICKELBACK frontman Chad Kroeger named SEVENDUST as the band he never wants to follow onstage. "I don't care how many records you've sold or how many awards you've won or what you've done around the world… you don't ever, ever, ever want to go on after SEVENDUST , because they will kick your ass and wipe you all over that stage," Kroeger told Loudwire . "They are a force to be reckoned with and it is goosebump-worthy."

Witherspoon later responded to Kroeger 's comments, saying: "I love it. Chad is a good friend of mine. I love him. And what I would like to say, if he could see this or if you could make sure he sees this, take us out on tour. I've been talking to you about this for the last 10 years."

Lajon continued: "For him to put that out there was so cool. I love him for saying that and just being honest. They can go on after us. NICKELBACK is great; they hold their own. But it was so cool to see that."

SEVENDUST 's latest album, "Truth Killer" , was released in July 2023 via SEVENDUST 's new label home, Napalm Records . The follow-up to 2020's "Blood & Stone" was once again tracked at Studio Barbarosa in Gotha, Florida with producer Michael "Elvis" Baskette , who has previously worked with ALTER BRIDGE and SLASH , among others.

"Truth Killer" showcases the original and current SEVENDUST lineup, comprised of Witherspoon , Lowery , John Connolly , Vince Hornsby and Morgan Rose .
