Winter Hours:  (Nov. 1 – March 31): 10 AM to 5 PM daily

Public tours depart at the top of each hour. On non-game days, the last tour of the day departs at 5 PM.

On game days, the last tour departs  three hours before  the game start time.

The burning question on anyone’s mind who hasn’t taken a Fenway Park tour yet is if you’ll actually get to walk around the field. Unfortunately, we do have a bit of bad news to deliver.

The tour section of the Red Sox website states that all areas of the ballpark are subject to availability . That means that chances are, you may not get to actually walk onto the field during a tour.

Occasionally it does happen but it’s usually a rare occurrence that depends on several factors including the condition of the field and the size of the tour group. You also have a greater chance of being allowed access to the field during the morning tours on home game days .

Don’t let this revelation bum you out or discourage you from taking a Fenway Park tour, however. There is still so much to see and enjoy during your visit that makes up for not being allowed to walk on the field.

Available Fenway Park Tours

Fenway Park tours are definitely not one size fits it—there are several available public tours to fit different preferences. Here’s a detailed description of each that was listed at the time this article was published, which brings up an important point: new tours may be added and existing ones changed or dropped at any time.

This is an hour-long tour that most people spring for. You get to enjoy a 60-minute guided tour chockful of historical nuggets about the ballpark, notable players, and Red Sox history.

This tour also includes a visit to the media booth which offers a spectacular view of the park. You’ll also get to see the visiting team’s locker room, Pesky’s Pole, the rooftop garden, the press box, and get to take in the amazing view from the Green Monster seats. If you go on the day of a scheduled concert, you may get to see the artist or band warming up on the stage.

You’ll also visit the Royal Rooters Club—home of the Nation’s Archives, where historic baseball and Boston Red Sox memorabilia and photographs are on display.

A fan favorite, the hour-long pregame tour gives attendees early access to the ballpark before the general public and takes place three hours before game time. You’ll get to see Fenway’s oldest seats (the Grandstand section, which dates back to 1934), walk on the warming track, and sit atop the Green Monster.

Fans love this tour for the potential chance to watch players practicing or scoring an autograph or fly ball.

This is a great tour for families and younger baseball fans. It includes a visit with Wally the Green Monster, a stop on the warming track, and a historical narrative of Fenway Park history.

Insider Tips: What to Know Before You Tour Fenway Park

Finally, we have some tips to help you prepare for your Fenway Park tour and get the most enjoyment from the experience. The last thing anyone wants is to miss the tour because they don’t know the best way to get into the city or discover the bag they brought with them is too big. These are important tips to know, so don’t skip over them!

This tip can never be stressed enough: leave your vehicle at home and take public transportation to Fenway Park . While there are several lots near the ballpark, the Boston area is notorious for its heavy traffic and delays—making it an absolute nightmare to drive to Fenway Park on game days. Not to mention,  parking near the stadium can be expensive .

Take the MBTA (“the T”) to the Kenmore stop on the B, C, or D Green line , and Fenway Park is a short five-minute walk away. When you exit the station, you’ll see signs guiding you to the ballpark. Take a left on Commonwealth Ave., another left onto Brookline Ave., then go over the bridge.

You’ll save yourself time, money, and stress by taking the T and will also get to meet some fellow Red Sox fans by taking public transportation. It’s hard to beat that!

If you must drive to the stadium, the Red Sox site has a page dedicated to the best lots to park at depending upon the direction you’re entering the city from along with their rates and an option to reserve a spot online.

According to one of the experienced tour guides, you walk the equivalent of 1.25 miles during the one-hour tours. That’s a lot of steps, so comfortable, supportive footwear is a must.

Be prepared for periods of standing and climbing stairs as well. Many tour attendees say it can be a workout. Elevators are available to get to various levels of the ballpark if you need a reprieve.

As an aside, don’t be surprised if your tour group is on the larger side (we told you these tours were popular!) The tour guides use a microphone to ensure everyone can hear them clearly. Sometimes larger groups are split up into two separate ones, each with their own tour guide.

Fenway Park does not provide water or other refreshments for tour groups, so be sure to bring water (in a sealed bottle 16 ounces or smaller) to stay hydrated if you’re taking the tour on a hot day. We also recommend sunglasses, a hat, and sunscreen.

Fenway has a pretty strict bag policy: bags must be no larger than 12″ x 12″ x 6″ and single compartment only. The ballpark does NOT allow backpacks (or backpack-style purses), duffle bags, and bags with multiple compartments.

Exceptions are made for diaper bags and bags that carry essential medical equipment. Any bags that don’t meet the requirements can be stored with a third-party locker company on the top of the Lansdowne Garage or a nearby liquor store. Note that a fee will be charged to do so. To be on the safe side and avoid missing the beginning of a tour, we recommend taking a fanny pack or other small bag that safely meets the size restrictions.

All tour participants are also required to pass through security screening before entering the ballpark. We recommend reading the Fenway Park security page for a list of prohibited items and more about the bag policy.

Much like Red Sox games, Fenway Park tours tend to sell out. They go on sale 30 days in advance (so if you visit the website on November 1 you will only be able to purchase tickets for tours taking place through December 1.)

A tour of Fenway Park is absolutely worth it! There’s a reason why Fenway is called America’s most beloved ballpark. Its features, layout, and quirks are unlike any other major league baseball stadium in the nation.

What is the history of Gorky Park?

• In the pre-revolutionary period, Gorky Park was a city dump and wasteland, which was cleared in 1923 to host the All-Russian Agricultural and Artisan Industrial Exhibition

Gorky Central Park of Culture and Recreation

Gorky Park is the most famous park of Moscow, created during the Soviet period as a hub for relaxation and cultural activities. The park is beloved by Muscovites and tourists alike, who visit in all seasons to stroll, enjoy sports, admire the park’s attractions, and attend cultural events. Gorky Park is the central part of an ensemble of four green spaces – Muzeon Park of Arts, Neskuchny Garden, and Sparrow Hills Nature Reserve – which curve around the southern bank of the Moskva River to the south-west of Moscow city centre. Here you may spend some time and enjoy nature and contemprary art during your vacation in Moscow .

History of Gorky Park

In the 17th century, the eastern bank of the Moskva River beyond Moscow’s city limits was home to floodplain meadows, where palace horses grazed. From the mid-1850s, events such as cockfights, fistfights, and races were held here, and by the 20th century this area had become a city dump where the unemployed and homeless people of Moscow lived, which remained this way until the Soviet period. This wasteland lay in stark contrast to the adjoining Neskuchny Sad – ‘merry garden’ – which lay to its south, an area of aristocratic country estates and elaborate gardens.

Following the October Revolution, Vladimir Lenin travelled around Moscow to find a suitable site for the first All-Russian Agricultural and Artisan Industrial Exhibition, which would reveal opportunities for socialist development of agriculture and industry. Lenin decided on the wasteland alongside the Moskva River, which was cleared with a programme of community work. In 1923, the exhibition began. It encompassed 250 pavilions dedicated to different themes of agriculture and industry, and was divided into thematic zones, such as villages, livestock, crops, engineering, railways, republics of the USSR, and foreign countries. The organisation of the exhibition demarcated the future layout and size of Gorky Park, and the paths, ‘zones’, and main square of the exhibition have been preserved until the present day. In March 1928, Moscow City Council decided to establish a park of culture and recreation on the site of the former exhibition, which would also encompass the Neskuchny Garden. Moscow’s residents were instrumental in the construction of the park – they voiced their desires for events spaces, physical education and leisure facilities, and gave up their weekends to build the park. The park’s main architect was Konstantin Melnikov.

Did you know? Konstantin Melnikov also helped to construct Lenin’s Mausoleum and the Rusakov Worker’s Club, one of Moscow’s Constructivist masterpieces .

Over 100,000 Muscovites flocked to the opening of the park on 12th August 1928. The brand-new park was equipped with two theatres, a cinema, nursery, reading room, restaurant and café, music stages, sports arenas, rowing boats, and even a giant helter-skelter slide. Unfortunately, because of the vast size of the crowd and the general excitement, the park was damaged and closed until September.

Did you know? The park was not named after Maxim Gorky, writer and founder of Socialist Realism, until 1933.

In 1929, Betty Glan – at the mere age of 26 – became director of the park. She decided to reconceptualise it, uniting leisure, design, and ideology with the help of Moscow’s most eminent architects, designers and artists. Over the next decade, more cultural venues were established in the park, the Pushkinskaya Embankment along the Moskva River was developed, and the landscaping of the park was carefully cultivated. Architect Alexander Vlasov was particularly influential, and won the Grand Prix at the 1937 World Exhibition in Paris for his design of Gorky Park. This period under Glan’s directorship until 1937 was known as the ‘golden age’ of Gorky Park, which became not just a place for recreation, but a public space where Soviet culture and everyday life could be proudly displayed.

Did you know? During the Second World War topical events were held in Gorky Park, such as the championship in bayonet combat, grenade-throwing competitions, and air defence training. What’s more, an exhibition of captured enemy weapons – tanks, artillery, aeroplanes, and more – was organised in Gorky Park and continually updated throughout the war.

In the post-war decades new attractions were continually added to Gorky Park. These included the majestic 24-metre triumphal arch at the entrance to the park, an astronomical observatory (which remains open today), the famous Ferris wheel (unfortunately dismantled in 2008), and a fountain with lights and music.

The Gorky Park ensemble continued to flourish as a centre of culture and recreation in post-Soviet Russia. The adjoining Muzeon Park of Arts was founded in 1992, and Garage Museum of Contemporary Art was established in Gorky Park in 2008. The ensemble underwent serious reconstruction in 2011. Many new sports facilities were added, including centres for beach sports and extreme sports, bicycle paths and sports equipment rental hubs, and much effort was devoted to reviving original buildings, sculptures, and landscape compositions. Two years later, the embankment of the Moskva River from the southern tip of Zamoskvorechye Island all the way to Sparrow Hills was redeveloped and pedestrianised, making it possible to peacefully walk or cycle along the Moskva for many kilometres.

While exploring the treelined paths of Gorky Park, you’ll come across a number of attractions. To the west of the main entrance, near the river, is a beautiful geometric bandstand used for music and literary evenings in the Soviet period. As you head down the central alley of Gorky Park from the main entrance, you’ll see a statue of Maxim Gorky on your right, and discover the light and music fountain with its dancing jets of water – find the schedule of its performances here .

Did you know? Don’t be afraid to feed the red squirrels and birds you encounter on your walk around Gorky Park – there are even vending machines which sell special food for the animals!

The southern section of Gorky Park is occupied by the Golitsynsky Garden. In 1802, the Golitsyn Hospital was founded here as a hospital for the poor; it still adjoins Gorky Park today. Gardens were created as a relaxation place for patients, extending from the hospital building to the riverbank, and included landscaped gardens, a Chinese Bridge, and two ponds. On the riverbank is the Rotunda of the Golitsyn Hospital, which has been preserved since the 19th century. There is also a rose garden and fountain by the Bolshoi Golitsynsky Pond.

Did you know? In the Golitsynsky Garden is also located an unusual architectural monument – a public toilet designed by Alexander Vlasov in the 1930s, which is recognised as an ‘object of cultural heritage’!

Outdoor activities

Gorky Park’s extensive and varied grounds aren’t only good for walks! You can relax on the water by renting boats to sail on the Pionersky and Bolshoi Golitsynsky Ponds, or visiting the Olivkovy Beach on the Pushkinskaya Embankment to sunbathe. As well as this, you can hire bicycles, electric scooters, longboards or even roller skates to explore the park and embankments, play table tennis, visit the sports complex to play football, basketball, handball, badminton or volleyball, or visit the Vans skatepark or Nike sports centre for workouts and classes such as rooftop yoga.

Gorky Park Museum

Visit the Gorky Park Museum, located in the left pier of the entrance arch. The current exhibition is dedicated to Gorky Park in the ‘golden age’ of the 1930s, and shows the development of Moscow’s central park through the eyes of Betty Glan. There is an observation deck on top of the arch, which offers a lovely view over the park and Moscow’s skyline.

Did you know? In the entrance arch there is also a gift shop where you can purchase balls, frisbees, blankets, and other items to enjoy your visit to Gorky Park.

Garage Museum of Contemporary Art

In Gorky Park you will find Garage Museum, Russia’s first philanthropic institution dedicated to contemporary art, founded in 2008 by Roman Abramovich and Dasha Zhukova. 10 major exhibitions are hosted each year to showcase the work of established and up-and-coming artists. Also organised are a rich programme of events including curator-led excursions, workshops, masterclasses, lectures, concerts, performances, festivals, and film screenings at Garage’s outdoor cinema. Food and drink

There are plenty of excellent cafes and restaurants dotted around Gorky Park, where you can stop for a quick coffee or enjoy a long meal with a view. They include the stylish lakeside café Ostrovok (Little Island) and upmarket restaurant Vremena Goda (Seasons) which serve European and Russian food, colourful lakeside Thai restaurant Lebedinoe Ozero (Swan Lake), trattoria Merkato with its huge summer terrace, restaurant Syrovarnya (Cheese Factory) with a menu focused on its homemade cheese, food-truck court Restoparking which is stylised as a drive-in café, and ice-cream and tea shop Chaynaya Vysota.

What’s nearby?

Gorky Park is bordered by Muzeon Park of Arts, Neskuchny Garden, and Sparrow Hills Nature Reserve. This huge ensemble curves for eight kilometres along the bank of the Moskva River, providing a beautiful oasis of green in Europe’s biggest city.

Muzeon Park of Arts is the largest open-air sculpture museum in Russia, home to 1,000 sculptures by Soviet and Russian sculptors, including those by famous artists. A large part of Muzeon is occupied by the New Tretyakov Gallery , which houses Russia’s most complete exhibition of national art from the 20th century to the present day. The pedestrianised Krymskaya Embankment which extends alongside Muzeon has recently undergone redevelopment, and is one of Moscow’s most popular spots to relax.

Neskuchny Garden

Neskuchny Garden is the oldest park in Moscow, founded in 1728 by Prince Nikita Trubetskoy, who threw fantastic festivities in his manor house and gardens – neskuchny means ‘merry’ in Russian. Many other noble families also built their country estates in this area, which became a public park and garden after being acquired by the royal family. Today, the Neskuchny Garden is home to historical buildings, fountains, and gardens from the 18th and 19th centuries, sports facilities, an open-air theatre, and a huge greenhouse which supplies flowers to Gorky Park.

Sparrow Hills

Sparrow Hills Nature Reserve is a huge forest park lining the steep bank of the Moskva River and the only specially protected nature area near the city centre. It is home to ecological trails, ponds, natural springs, rare species of plants and animals, many spots for picnicking, cafes, and a mini zoo. At the bottom of the park lie the Vorobyovskaya and Andreevskaya Embankments, with promenades along the Moskva River, a beach, and piers offering boat trips. As with Gorky Park, Sparrow Hills is hugely popular for sports and outdoor activities in all seasons. A new winter sports complex with snowboarding, ice skating, and ski tracks and jumps is currently under construction. When the weather is pleasant, you can rent a bicycle to ride the 8 kilometres along the river from Muzeon to Sparrow Hills.

10 things to do in Moscow's Gorky Park

Gorky Park is once again one of the most popular walking and leisure places for Muscovites and it’s really busy on weekends. It's definitely one of the must-see sights of Moscow and locals would definitely recommend you visit it at least once. So what to do once you’re in Gorky Park? 

1. Walk with a view

Of course, walking is the main thing to do in any park. Gorky Park offers free entrance 24/7, which, by the way, is a disabled friendly space. The territory of the park is huge and combines several “mini-parks” inside along with a long walking path that lets you follow the Moskva River (just like in Scorpions' song!) and enjoy the river views and tour boats. At the same time, you can head deeper inside the park and take a stroll along its multiple paths.

And if you are ready for a longer walk to improve those results on your step tracker - take a stroll along the river from Muzeon Park through Gorky Park, and then Neskuchny Sad (literally “Not Boring Garden”), finishing at Vorobyovy Gory (“Sparrow Hills”). By the way, don’t worry about having to turn back after a long walk, because there are metro stations on either side of the park: ‘Park Kultury’ or ‘Okrtyabrskaya’ at one end and ‘Vorobyovy Gory’ at the other. 

2. Use free WI-FI

Moscow nowadays is more and more reminiscent of a city of the future, as it has every imaginable service working 24/7, an app for everything you could need, and free WI-FI just about everywhere, including Gorky Park. 

So why not take advantage of it by downloading an audio guide explaining you the history of Gorky Park during WWII , for instance, and add some additional educational value to your walk!

3. Rent a bike or do other sports

There is a long bike track that stretches along the Moskva River within Gorky Park and beyond. You can rent a bike, longboard, skateboard (or even a children’s buggy). You can download a handy cycle audio guide that can help you explore the territory better, with interesting facts about ponds, museums and the park’s many other attractions.

Gorky Park also offers lots of opportunities for other sports. There is an official Nike base that frequently arranges running clubs and workouts. There are also several playgrounds for football, basketball, as well as an extreme skate park. 

Surprisingly or not, you can also play petanque (boules) in Gorky Park. This game popular among retired French people became popular among hipsters, thanks to the former ‘La Boule’ cafe that set up a few lanes back in 2011 (another cafe has since opened at the same place called Cochonnet - Petanque & Fun Cafe).

Gorky Park these days has loads of food venues for any taste, from historical Soviet ice cream to modern street food, as well as plenty of sitdown restaurants. Try Greek Gyros, Vietnamiese ‘Bo’ street food, or just grab a coffee and croissant to go anywhere.

If you’d like to have dinner, choose a place with a view near one of the park’s ponds. You can find a grill restaurant called ‘Zharovnya’ next to the main entrance and Pioneer Pond or one of the many nice restaurants next to Golitsyn Pond: ‘Ostrovok’, ‘Pizzamento’, ‘Lebedinoye Ozero’ (literally “Swan Lake”) and others.

5. Explore Russian & Soviet history 

Gorky Park’s full title is ‘Central Park of Culture and Leisure named after Maksim Gorky’. It opened in 1928 and since 1932 has been named after the famous Soviet writer Maxim Gorky. The place was considered to be the main leisure area for citizens of the capital, and so, was arguably designed by the best architects. One just has to take a look at the magnificent entrance arch! (inside it you can find the Museum of Gorky Park history , while on top is an observation deck).

These days, it’s a modern and stylish park (reconstructed in 2011), but little interesting pockets of Soviet past can be found everywhere still. The park offers guided historical tours and other similar types of so-called “edutainment”. (check the events schedule on the park’s website ). If you head over to the adjacent park - Muzeon Park, you’ll find some nice sightseeing there - even a cemetery of old Soviet statues and busts, including ones of Lenin and Stalin, that were “sent to exile” here after the USSR collapsed.

6. Entertain your kids

Gorky Park has always been a family-friendly park and a favorite place for kids of all ages. You can find a lot of entertainment for kids near Pioneer Pond, including a nice carousel and a recently opened  playground. It is an entire mini-world, a cross between a jungle and an aqua park. There are lots of slides and monkey bars, where kids can climb and have fun on, including the ‘Mega swings’: 29 swings that rotate and move all the possible ways and display an awesome night light show.

7. Explore contemporary art

The park hosts the ‘Garage Museum for Contemporary Art’, which is probably the main and most famous institution of its type and founded back in 2008. It hosts large exhibitions of the world’s and Russia’s most interesting artists and runs a big educational program. 

The museum’s building also deserves your attention. It currently looks like a modern  polycarbonate construction. However, it was once an abandoned Soviet restaurant, which was reconstructed and redesigned by Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas, who preserved original Soviet elements, such as some mosaics - which you can explore once inside. (You can also find a nice restaurant in the museum)

8. Go to the movies

In summer, Gorky Park has an open air cinema called ‘Pioneer’, which screens a lot of movies - from mainstream to art house. Some movies also have English subtitles. Check the schedule and book tickets in advance here .

Garage museum also has its own cinema called ‘Garage Screen’, which screens a wide range of films and documentaries devoted to art and hosts lectures from a variety of interesting speakers. Check the schedule here . 

9. Rent a boat 

Though you might have to stand in a long line to get a boat on weekends, it’s nice to be able to paddle a little in nature, while being in the middle of a megapolis! Both park’s ponds, Golitsyn (a bigger one) and Pioneer, offer boats and catamarans for rent at affordable prices (check them here ).

10. Skate the ice rink 

In winter, Gorky Park transforms into a wonderland with one of the most gorgeous ice skating rinks in the city. You can enjoy the additional music, New Year festive atmosphere - and mulled wine (just not on the ice!). There are also plenty of ice skate rental points and very comfortable and warm changing rooms.

Patriot Park: Russian Military Large as Life

Patriot Park represents the unique, world’s biggest collection of armed vehicles. The Park, also known as the “Russian military Disneyland”, is able to host tens of thousands of visitors per day. Patriot incorporates the world’s famous Kubinka Tank Museum. In the future, Monino Aviation Museum will likely become a part of Patriot Park as well. Location: 55 km (34 mi) from Moscow. The Park covers 5.4 ha (13.3 ac).

Patriot Park is divided into several main areas. We'll cover the two most significant ones. The Air and Space Force cluster . On display are 268 pieces of Soviet and Russian aircraft, tanks and armoured vehicles. The “Echo of the war” exhibition is devoted to damaged pieces. They stayed untouched since the day they were found and remind people of the horrors of the war. We’ll make a stop for coffee/lunch in the military style canteen, and then move on to the next area (which requires a transfer of about 10 km by car/bus). Kubinka tank museum . Founded in 1978, the museum keeps replenishing its collection with new battlefield findings and army write-offs. The collection features armoured vehicles from different countries and eras including the Soviet T-34, the German Tiger and Panther tanks, the super-speed T-8, and the 180-ton tank “Maus”. Besides, the Kubinka tank museum houses several dozens of self-propelled guns, armoured cars, reconnaissance and command vehicles, and a variety of technical and engineer support vehicles. The exhibits are located in several pavilions. On the Patriot Park tour, you will be walking among the numerous military vehicles in the company of our knowledgeable guides, who will reveal the history of Park’s exhibits. In 1876, more than 10 million people journeyed to Philadelphia’s Fairmount Park for the nation’s Centennial Exposition.

Today, the expanse remains a refuge from the bustling city, keeping quiet natural landscapes within close reach of all residents and visitors.

With more than 2,000 acres of rolling hills, gentle trails, relaxing waterfront and shaded woodlands, Fairmount Park keeps a wealth of natural landscapes in East and West sections of the park, divided by the Schuylkill River.

Take a stroll; head out for an afternoon of softball, organized Ultimate frisbee or pier-side fishing; or enjoy a relaxing family picnic.

Fairmount Park houses miles of trails for off-road cycling, horseback riding and deep-woods hiking, yet there are also tours of historic mansions, Japanese tea ceremonies and outdoor concerts.

Guests can take tours of the Colonial-era mansions that dot the landscape.

Two outdoor concert venues routinely feature some of the biggest names in music, and provide an intermittent summer home for the renowned Philadelphia Orchestra . The world-famous Philadelphia Museum of Art sits at the headway of the park and overlooks the row of Victorian-era boathouses that have become architectural landmarks unto themselves.

Kids love Smith Memorial Playground as well as the Philadelphia Zoo , America’s oldest zoo. The Treetop Quest aerial adventure and the Philly Pumptrack bike track provide guests with all-ages outdoor fun. Additionally, Lloyd Hall along Boathouse Row offers year-round indoor recreational activities.

Bankruptcy and the quest for clean water were the two driving forces behind the creation of Fairmount Park.

When Robert Morris, financier of the Revolutionary War, went bankrupt, his country farm and gardens were purchased by another businessman who created gardens that were so lovely he charged admission to see them. The property changed hands again only to suffer from yet another economic downturn.

In 1843, a shrewd city councilman purchased property, which was situated above the municipal water works, and designated it as parkland.

The city was then able to end the industrial contamination of the river that had occurred downstream.

Over the next century, the city acquired additional lands and recruited landscape architects to develop a plan that would preserve the park’s natural features but maximize public accessibility and emphasize its lovely vistas.

The tour covers so many locations and the tour guide adds a lot of interesting facts along the way too. Dina who was our tour guide was lovely, so knowledgeable, and patient. You will get out of the coach for the Ghostbusters fire station, Friends house, and Washington Square where e.g. Marvelous Mrs Maisel was filmed. Can't recommend it enough.

Everyone loves the Jurassic Park series. Over the years, the dinosaur world that has been so realistically portrayed on screen, has managed to awe, scare and cheer millions of people worldwide.

The franchise celebrated its 25th anniversary last year. Through all these years, Kauai has been a consistent filming location for the series. The main reasons being the raw, undisturbed beauty of the island and the supportive infrastructure for filming.

As Patrick Crowley, one of the producers of Jurassic World, stated in an interview, they needed a green location to shoot the jungle portion and considering the infrastructure, it made a lot of sense to shoot the film in Kauai.

To celebrate the successful stint of one of our favourite movie franchises and to honor the grandeur of our island, we will be covering the 5 must-see Jurassic Park filming locations in Kauai in this blog post .

This will serve as a guide for your next Kauai visit and help you see those locations for real, without the dinosaurs of course.

1. The Amber Mine at Ho’opi’i Falls (Kapaa, East Kauai)

This location claims an important place in the storyline as this is where it all begins. In the first Jurassic Park movie, the Ho’opi’i falls area is shown as the Mano De Dios Amber Mine in Dominican Republic.

This is where Hammond’s team discovers a mosquito enclosed in amber whose DNA is later used for populating the Jurassic park with dinosaurs. Although the falls are not gushing in full splendor in the movie, they are much more beautiful in real and can be reached via a short hike through the scenic Ho’opi’i Falls Trail.

2. Raptor Egg Discovery at Allerton Garden ( Lawai, South Shore )

A National Tropical Botanical Garden in Kauai, Allerton Garden is well known for the hundreds of varieties of tropical plant life that are thriving here, amidst some ingenious and commendable landscape architecture.

The garden is also famous for the ‘Moreton Bay Figs’, commonly known as ‘The Jurassic Park Tree.’ These giant trees were featured in the 1993 Jurassic Park movie in the scene where Dr.Grant and the children discover the Raptor egg.

To this day, people, especially children, flock to the Allerton garden, with Jurassic Park T-Shirts on, to have a look at those trees and relive one of their favourite Jurassic Park moments.

3. Spotting the Dinosaur Herd at Jurassic Kahili Ranch (North Shore)

The 2800 acre wide ranch located in Kilauea, on the north-eastern shore of Kauai, has been featured in three Jurassic Park films, including the 2015 “Jurassic World.” The vast, expansive grassland, served as the perfect location to introduce the dinosaurs in the movie.

The scene in the first installment when Dr Grant and Ellie are absolutely mesmerized when they see a giant Brachiosaurus, is etched forever in the hearts of Jurassic Park Lovers.

4. Helicopter Landing at Manawaiopuna Falls (Hanapepe Valley, Southern Kauai)

In the 1993 movie, remember the scene when the visitors first arrive on the island as the nostalgic Jurassic Park music runs in the background?

The waterfall in the background when the helicopter lands on the helipad is the Manawaiopuna Falls, colloquially known as Jurassic Park Falls.

As seen in the movie, the waterfall is deeply embedded inside the jungles of Hanapepe valley. The only access to the falls is via helicopter as the area is privately owned.

5. Napali Coast (Northwest Coast of Kauai)

In the Lost World, when the team approaches Isla Sorna via a vessel, we couldn’t help but awe at the magnitude of the magnificent Napali Coast . The towering cliffs that kiss the ocean and disappear deep into the lush Napali valley seemed as the perfect location to portray the fictional dinosaur island and blow the audience away.

It was the Honopu Valley that was featured in ‘The Lost World’, The Napali Coast was also used for filming the 1993 Jurassic Park and the 2015 Jurassic World movies.

While some may choose to see this iconic coastline from the air, we think the only way to feel immersed in it is to see it by boat. But this decision can be difficult with so many different boat tour operators offering their services.

Take the Nationals Governor’s Tour for a behind-the-scenes look at Nationals Park. Over the course of two hours you will visit:

Pregame Tours

This tour offers a chance to get up close and personal with all the pregame action! Visit the clubs, suites, concourse and more before the park opens and learn fun facts from our seasoned tour guides about the history of the Washington Nationals as well as the venue. All areas are subject to availability and weather dependent. Game times are subject to change. Pregame tours are available for select 6:45pm games. The tour begins at 4:00pm.

The tour requires a lot of walking. Please arrive ten minutes early and schedule yourself approximately two hours to be at the park.

Can I walk-up the day of the tour and buy tickets?

There will be a QR code at the ticket windows at the Box Office that can be scanned to purchase tickets online. Please keep in mind, tour sales cut off at the beginning of the tour time.

Yes. All areas visited on ballpark tours are accessible to every guest. If your party or group needs such assistance please provide advance notice and we'll make sure to prepare accordingly for your visit.

Where do Stadium Tours start?

Tours Monday-Sunday will depart from the Media and Suites Entrance located on South Capitol Street SE and Potomac Ave. Any changes will be communicated by the Nationals Park Tour staff.

What's the best way to get to Nationals Park?

There is metered street parking available on all sides of Nationals Park as well as a few parking lots nearby. We strongly recommend public transportation - Metro bus or Metro Train are both minutes away from the ballpark.

If traveling by train:

Take the Green Line to the Navy Yard station. The Navy Yard station is just a half a block away or the Orange, Blue or Silver Line to the Capitol South station, just a 15 minute walk from the Ballpark. Plus, Metro has over 57,000 parking spaces at their Park and Ride lots, Free parking Saturdays, Sundays and Federal holidays in Metro lots.

If traveling by bus:

DC Circulator

Bus to the Ballpark! Escape the Navy Yard Metro crowds with the DC Circulator Eastern Market – L’Enfant Plaza route. Rides cost $1.

DC Circulator drops passengers off at the M Street and New Jersey Avenue SE entrance to the Navy Yard Metrorail Station allowing for a short, half-block walk to the ballpark - a great alternative to the congested rails and metro transfers. The park is one of the largest green spaces in Barcelona, ​​with more than 17 hectares, next to the Sierra de Collserola.
