Jobs with Oceania Cruises

Oceania Cruises was founded in 2002 by two gentlemen who were very familiar with the cruise industry, Joe Watters and Frank Del Rio. The company bills itself as the only "upper premium cruise line" in the world. Oceania Cruises has selected patrons who are looking for a "casually elegant" atmosphere when they are on board one of this company's vessels.

The fleet of mid-sized vessels are staffed at a level to ensure that all passengers receive the level of attention they are expecting while on a destination cruise. With two employees on board for every three guests, any question, concerns or requests are dealt with promptly.

Oceania Cruises visits over 330 ports worldwide. The planned agenda includes a mix of well-known ports of call, as well as ones the average passenger may not be familiar with. The schedule for one of this company's cruises includes a number of overnight stays in interesting locations so that passengers can learn more about the places they are visiting, as well as have some unforgettable experiences by experiencing local culture first hand.

Oceania is in the upper premium segment of the cruise industry, therefore the job requirements for candidates and service performance level expectations are quite high. On the other hand working onboard the upper premium class luxury ships of this cruise line is a great experience. The ships sail to all continents and the chances of getting a contract with a "boring" (all Caribbean or all Alaska) type of itinerary are close to zero.Oceania Cruises offers various types of jobs within all shipboard departments on regular basis - Deck & Engine officers and ratings, Food and Beverage Services, Guest Services, Entertainment, Medical Doctors and Nurses, Accommodation etc. Some of the positions aboard the ships are provided by concessionaires.

A short overview and history of Oceania Cruises - in 2002, cruise industry veterans Frank Del Rio and Joe Watters, former heads of Renaissance Cruises and Crystal Cruises respectively, teamed up to form Oceania Cruises, acquiring the former R1 and R2 cruise ships of Renaissance Cruises, and renaming them Regatta and Insignia. Both ships have received a $5 million refurbishment and now offer an 'upper premium' cruise experience with higher levels of food and beverage and other services. Since both cruise ships were so new, having entered service in 1998, they were in excellent condition, however, they each received a $5 million refit before joining the fleet of Oceania Cruises. Upgrades and maintenance work was undertaken on both ships during two-week dry docks. Work included intensive maintenance of machinery and navigation equipment. Another former Renaissance Cruises ship named "Nautica" joint the Oceania Cruises fleet in 2005.

Overall, Oceania Cruises has managed to create a luxury experience, particularly in the areas of cuisine and service at a mid-market price point. Ultimately, the company offers one of the industry's best value-for-money options in cruising. The intimate and luxurious 684 passenger ships, feature itineraries to the Mediterranean, Scandinavia, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Panama Canal. The itineraries have been tailored to include many overnight port stays allowing passengers time to immerse themselves in the history, culture and local flavor of the region. Voyages for this cruise line include the Black Sea, British Isles, Caribbean, Central America, Greek Isles, Mediterranean, Mexico, North Cape, Russia, Scandinavia, and South America. A new cruise ship named Marina - especially build for Oceania Cruises joined the Oceania Cruises fleet in late 2011. Although it was a bigger cruise vessel, the intention of Oceania Cruises was to keep the atmosphere on board intimate and luxurious like on the other three smaller ships in the fleet. The latest ship of Oceania Cruises - a sister ship of Marina christened Riviera joined the Oceania Cruises fleet in 2019 thus adding another 800 cruise ship jobs to the existing 1600 plus shipboard positions that Oceania Cruises offers at the moment.

In September, 2014, Norwegian Cruise Line purchased Prestige Cruise Holdings, the parent company of Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises, for $3.025 billion. In November, 2014, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. announced a definitive agreement with Princess Cruises to purchase the Ocean Princess for Oceania Cruises, upon delivery in March 2016, the ship will undergo a 35-day, $40 million refurbishment in Marseille, France to become the Sirena

Oceania cruises relaunches personalized cruise vacation guide.

Cruise Vacation Guide to include a personalized welcome letter, pre-cruise information, reusable luggage tags and inserts.

MIAMI , June 5, 2024 /PRNewswire/ --  Oceania Cruises , the world's leading culinary- and destination-focused cruise line, has announced the relaunch of its Cruise Vacation Guide, bringing travelers a personalized portfolio inclusive of pre-cruise information before setting sail.

Received by guests prior to embarkation, the newly relaunched Cruise Vacation Guide will include a personalized welcome letter from Oceania Cruises President, Frank A. Del Rio , a 'Welcome Aboard' booklet with general cruise information and a deck-by-deck guide per vessel, four reusable luggage tags and personalized luggage tag inserts that are customized with the guest's name, sail date, ship and stateroom and color coordinated based on booking category.

While previously guests received a shore excursion booklet in their pre-cruise documents mailed directly to them, they will now be able to access a  digital shore excursion overview  booklet on the Oceania Cruises website under Shore Excursions, and through their booking portal, in addition to receiving a digital PDF of shore excursion offerings specific to their voyage.

"It's important to us that travelers sailing with Oceania Cruises enjoy a personalized and seamless experience from the time they book their voyage until their return home," said Frank A. Del Rio , President of Oceania Cruises. "While most other lines are making the shift to a fully digital experience, we are responding to our guests' preference for physical, in-hand documents, showing our dedication to meet the needs of our guests while also providing digital versions."

The Cruise Vacation Guide will be shipped to guests approximately 60 to 70 days prior to their embarkation date.

For additional information on Oceania Cruises' small-ship luxury product, exquisitely crafted cuisine and expertly curated travel experiences, visit OceaniaCruises.com, call 855-OCEANIA, or speak with a professional travel advisor.
