What travelers say about their New Year's Eve group trips
Travel tips for planning a trip for new year's eve.
Traveling over New Year’s Eve is a memorable way to experience new-to-you traditions. Still deciding where to travel for New Year’s Eve? Here are a few of our favorite New Year’s Eve destinations to consider:
- Rome. Fireworks, free concerts, and delicious food await travelers on New Year’s Eve trips to Rome . See landmarks, like the Colosseum and Circus Maximus, bathed in the bright light of fireworks, warm up with a piping-hot slice of pizza, and take in a musical performance in one of the city’s churches, opera halls, or theaters before toasting the arrival of the new year.
- Florence. Tuscany’s capital city may be a popular summer destination, but it’s also a great place for New Year’s Eve trips, like our New Year’s Eve in Florence with Venice & Rome tour , thanks to a number of musical performances and other festivities that take place in Piazza della Signoria and Piazzale Michelangelo, to name just two spots. Plus, seeing the city’s iconic Renaissance structures against a backdrop of twinkle lights is especially enchanting.
- Venice. The only thing more special than soaking in Venice’s history while strolling among its storied streets and canals? Doing it on New Year’s Eve. Like Rome and Florence, Venice comes alive on New Year’s Eve with classical music concerts, opera performances, festive dishes, and plenty of fireworks, which light up the sky over the Venetian Lagoon. You can experience it on our New Year’s Eve in Venice with Florence & Rome tour .
- Paris. The City of Lights truly lives up to its name on New Year’s Eve, with lasers and fireworks lighting up landmarks such as the Arc de Triomphe and the Eiffel Tower. When you travel on one of our New Year’s Eve trips to Paris , you can spend the evening your way, whether that means attending a classical music concert at La Sainte Chapelle, taking in a ballet performance at the Palais Garnier, heading to Moulin Rouge for a night of cabaret, or boarding a river boat for a festive cruise along the Seine.
- Madrid. In Spain, dining and socializing late into the night is common, which makes the country one of our favorite New Year’s Eve destinations. If you choose one of our New Year’s Eve trips to Spain , you’ll spend the festive evening strolling through Madrid’s illuminated streets, and enjoying traditional Castilian fare and live tuna music at one of the oldest restaurants in the city.
- Lucerne . For a New Year’s Eve celebration set against a breathtaking mountain and lake backdrop, consider booking our New Year’s Eve in Lucerne: Germany, Austria & Switzerland tour . During your free time on New Year’s Eve, you can head into the Swiss Alps, or spend the day enjoying Lucerne’s charming restaurants, shops, and cultural venues. Either way, be sure to catch Lucerne’s spectacular lakefront fireworks show that night.
- London. England’s capital is a buzzing cultural center any night of the year, but excitement reaches new heights on New Year’s Eve. Travelers visiting the city on our New Year’s Eve tours of London can take in a theater performance in the West End, feast on a Michelin-star meal, rub elbows with locals in Trafalgar Square, and marvel at the many colorful light installations and illuminated artworks that are sprinkled throughout the city.
- Lima. Peru’s capital is the perfect destination for New Year’s Eve trips packed with music, delicious food—and celebrations on the beach. After all, December is summertime in Peru, which means you can ring in the new year while enjoying warm, pleasant weather by the water. Sound good? Check out our New Year’s Eve in Lima: Ancient Peru & Machu Picchu tou r .
- Sydney. Situated in southeastern Australia, Sydney is another warm-weather spot that’s perfect for welcoming the new year. Its iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge is also the site of one of the world’s most famous New Year’s Eve fireworks displays. Soak up more sun, and laid-back Down Under vibes, on our New Year’s Eve in Australia & New Zealand tour.
Depending on which of our New Year’s Eve trips you choose, your packing needs might vary. Heading to Europe? Pack plenty of warm layers to ward off the chill. Heading to the Southern Hemisphere? Don’t forget your SPF! No matter where you go, though, a few essentials will come in handy.
- Festive, more formal attire. What better occasion than New Year’s Eve to step up your style game? Whether you head to the ballet in Paris or to a classical concert in Rome, a sport coat or chic dress can make your night out feel all the more special.
- Comfortable shoes. If you plan to ring in the new year outside, like, say, in London’s Trafalgar Square or Sydney’s Circular Quay, be sure to wear shoes that’ll keep your feet comfy, as you’ll likely do a good bit of standing.
- A camera. New Year’s Eve in a destination you’ve been dreaming about? This is an occasion you’ll want to revisit long after you’ve returned home.
- A small backpack or crossbody bag. Keep your essentials close by, especially if you plan to spend the evening surrounded by crowds.
If you book one of our New Year’s Eve travel packages, expect to encounter more crowds, as holidays are popular travel periods. Our New Year’s Eve travel packages are designed to include a mix of planned tours, optional excursions, and plenty of free time so you can celebrate the occasion your way. We’ll even help you decide where to travel based on your favorite holiday .

The New Year is always a very exciting time for everyone as we kiss goodbye to the old and welcome in the new. Now's the time to get your New Year celebrations off to a cracking start with one of our amazing New Year breaks to some of the greatest places on earth!
The majority of people tend to spend their New Year's Eve at home hosting parties with their loved ones but if you have tired of that and would like to be somewhere else when the chimes of the New Year ring out, we may have the perfect New Year breaks for you. Where better to start than with a visit to London where you can really get your New Year's Eve celebrations off to a flying start. Make a beeline for the river bank as this is where the massive firework display takes place. You'll need to get here early though to secure a good viewing spot. Take a picnic, maybe some foldable chairs and warm clothing as it will be a while before darkness falls and midnight arrives. You are not limited to London for your New Year breaks, you could travel up to Edinburgh to experience Hogmanay or spend New Year's Eve in Cardiff with friends.
Add a bit of magic to your New Year celebrations and take the whole family to Disneyland® Resort Paris where the whole family can spend New Year's Eve with their favourite characters. Gasp in wonder at the beautiful Christmas lights, be dazzled by the colourful character parades, stare in awe at the amazing firework display to the backdrop of Cinderella's Castle and remember to say 'Happy New Year' to Mickey and his friends! If you can drag yourself away from Disneyland®, take the metro into the heart of Paris and wish ' Bonne Annee ' to family and friends along the Champs-Elysees just make sure you're looking towards the Eiffel Tower when the midnight bells chime as it explodes into a dazzling display of fireworks.
Spend your New Year break in Belgium as you join 100s of people in the Market Square of Bruges and listen to the traditional sounds of the Carillon (allowing the bells in the Belfry to be played by means of a hand keyboard). Soak up the festive air in Ostend and make your New Year resolutions in Ghent or Antwerp. Travel into Germany this New Year and make a toast to the new as you cruise along The Rhine or head into Berlin for a New Year's Eve night to remember! For something completely different, see the world-famous ball drop in New York's Times Square, catch a dazzling show in Las Vegas , watch Sydney Harbour Bridge come alive with fireworks at midnight or snuggle up with a loved one in Vancouver.
One thing's for certain whatever you get up to, make sure that your New Year celebrations go with a bang to make your New Year's Eve party one that you'll never forget!
If you fancy welcoming the New Year somewhere different, there's a whole host of destinations offering an exciting alternative compared to staying at home. Here's just a selection of the places where you could be celebrating at midnight :
London Welcome the New Year with the chimes of Big Ben and a spectacular firework display by the River Thames in London. The atmosphere is inescapable as the crowds join in for a loud rendition of 'Auld Lang Syne' after the clock strikes midnight.
Paris Why not see in the New Year in this remarkable city? The celebrations tend to be centred around the Eiffel Tower with a spectacular firework display as the clock chimes midnight. The Champs-Élysées can get a little crowded with hundreds of people wanting to see in the New Year, so feel free to join them but please remember, it's French tradition to exchange kisses on each cheek as the New Year arrives!
Amsterdam Should you decide to visit Amsterdam to see in the New Year, you are in for a real treat. Celebrations continue throughout the night and when the clock strikes twelve, the night sky lights up with a multitude of fireworks, lights and sounds. Major tourist areas to see in the New Year are: Leidseplein, Dam Square, Rembrantplein and Nieumarkt.
Disneyland Paris If anyone knows how to bring in the New Year with an almighty bang it is of course Disney! Following a fun-filled day in the park enjoying the rides, crowds gather to watch a spectacular firework display by Cinderella's Castle – what better way is there to see in the New Year?

What people love about Christmas & New Year Tours in USA
Excellent tour of the Mighty 5 in Utah. Our guide Robin was knowledgeable and accommodating throughout the tour. Just enough time was allocated for hiking the trails, viewing the sites in the distance and even visiting the Visitor Centers in each park. Hotel/motel accommodations were good and chosen for access to restaurants. Lunch stops with corresponding places to eat were well planned and the food and service was good. We thoroughly enjoyed our time.
I love my tour guide Pasquale. He is the most sweetest, friendliest, kind, generous, and genuine tour guide I know. He really knows everything during my trip. He’s very easy going and I had the best experience ever in the 5 days I was traveling. Amazing experience and I would highly recommend Pasquale if you wanna travel with him and experience so much travelling for Wild West tour. Thank you so much an amazing and unforgettable experience.
Everything was great. We enjoyed the pacing of our itinerary and our guide Gogee was excellent.

After construction of the cathedral, the poor architect was blinded by Ivan the Terrible. Guess why? (Hint: the cathedral is really beautiful);
- - Beware of Lobnoye Mesto (or "Place of the Skulls"). You may want to stay away form this place, otherwise the spirit of Ivan the Terrible may haunt you. Lobnoe Mesto used to be Ivan the Terrible's stage for religious ceremonies, speeches, and important events. Rumour has it people were beheaded on this spot.
Kremlin Tour
With dual cultural and historical status, the Kremlin is simply gorgeous.

- - The Tsar Bell , the largest bell in the world, and Tsar Cannon , the largest cannon by caliber in the world. You will fillyour camera in no time with these two;
- - The Ivan the Great Bell Tower symbolically represents the exact centre of Moscow city and resembles a burning candle (just the right shape considering the location);

- - The Cathedral of the Annunciation , the private church of Russian grand princes and tsars for domestic and family ceremonies;
- - The Cathedral of the Archangel , the necropolis of the Moscow dynasty of Ruriks and first Romanov tsars. The history of the necropolis started in 1340 with Ivan I, who was (of course, you already guessed) the great grandfather of Ivan the Terrible;
- - The Armory originated as the royal arsenal in 1508 and boasting the richest collection of the works of Russian and foreign decorative and applied art of 4th-20th centuries;
+ The procession of the pedestrian and equestrian guards of the President's regiment (only April thru October).
Fun Facts about Red Square and Kremlin from our tours
- Red Suare appeared thanks to the... fire. The ffire at the end of the 15th century destroyed all the buildings. After the fire it was decided not to build up the territory. Thus was formed Red Square.
- Assumption Cathedral (located in the Kremlin) is the oldest survived building in Moscow (built in 1474-1479).
- It is widely believed that the Lobnoe Mesto (Place of Skulls or Place of Execution) was intended for executions. Executions were indeed carried out here, but very rarely, because it was considered a sacred place. More often, it was a place for royal decrees.
- After the casting, the Tsar Cannon was initially installed on Red Square near the Lobnoe Mesto and was intended for the defense of the Kremlin. However, it never took part in any wars.
- Tsar Bell lay in the pit for about 100 years.
- During the creation of the monument to Minin and Pozharsky, the models for the sculptor were his own sons.
- Initially the monument to Minin and Pozharsky was located in the center of Red Square in front of the GUM. In 1931, it was moved closer to St. Basil's Cathedral.
- Moscow Kremlin towers were decorated with two-headed eagles for several hundred years since the XVII century. In 1935 it was decided to replace them with five-pointed stars.
- Kazan Cathedral (the one at the intersection of Red Square and the streets of St. Nicholas) was blown up during the Soviet era (1936). In 1990-1993 it completely recreated.
- In 30-ies of XX century it was planned to demolish the GUM. In its place was planned to construct a building for the People's Commissariat of Heavy Industry.
- In the period from 1953 to 1961 the Lenin mausoleum was also a place for the body of Joseph Stalin.
- In May 1987, the pilot-athlete from Germany made an unauthorized flight from Helskinki to Moscow and landed on Red Square.
- In 2005, near the walls of the Kremlin in Nizhny Novgorod town was installed a replica of the Moscow monument to Minin and Pozharsky, but 5cm less.
- The architectural ensemble of the Moscow Kremlin is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. A

NEWS... BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT
Madonna, 65, ‘splits from her boyfriend, 30, after whirlwind one-year romance’
Share this with
Music icon Madonna has split from her professional boxer and gym coach boyfriend after only a year together, it’s been reported.
The legendary singer, 65, began dating boxer Josh Popper , 30, after they met through her son last year.
Josh and Madonna became romantically linked in early 2023, making their relationship Instagram official in February.
The loved-up pair were initially inseparable, with Madonna cheering him on at one of his boxing matches in March, and him joining her for a holiday to Portugal for her birthday in August.
As recently as December last year, Josh joined Madonna on stage during her Celebration Tour in Brooklyn, with the pair sharing a kiss in front of the excited crowd.
However, they haven’t been seen in public together since then, with reports claiming that the pair have thrown in the towel after Madonna’s work commitments made their romance untenable.
‘Madonna has barely seen Josh for months because her schedule was so hectic. Things just fizzled out,’ a source told The Sun .
They continued: ‘There is genuinely no bad blood – they’re still fond of each other. At the moment their relationship doesn’t feel feasible and they’ve cooled things off, but they are staying friends.’
The split comes at a busy time for Madonna, with the Queen of Pop kicking off her Celebration Tour at the O2 arena in London last year.
Josh and Madonna met through her adopted son, David Banda, 18, who had been taking boxing lessons at his Bredwinners gym in New York City.
The boxing coach and athlete, crowned the NYC Ring Masters Heavyweight Champion in 2023, also appeared on the reality TV show Summer House.
He bragged of his romance with the pop icon after she joined him at his gym on February 12 2023, captioning their photo together: ‘Another W for the books!’
After making their romance official, the pair spent much of the year travelling together, with the Queen of Pop supporting him at his boxing matches, and him at her side during a serious bacterial infection which saw her in the ICU for several days.
Reports of the pair’s split emerged as she was spotted with singer Eric Labat, 37, at a party in New York City. The French musician rose to fame as a contestant on a French singing competition in 2017.
Meanwhile, the Material Girl singer has been party to many such age-gap romances in her time, including backup dancers Ahlamalik Williams, 29, Brahim Zaibat, 37, and model Kevin Sampaio, 37.
Before then, she was married to actor Sean Penn from 1985 to 1989. Her most famous relationship is to Snatch and Lock Stock director Guy Ritchie , who she was married to from 2000 to 2008, and with whom shares one son, Rocco.
She has another biological child, Lourdes, who she shares with former partner Carlos Leon, and four adopted children: David, Mercy and twins Stella and Esther.
Madonna’s epic Celebration Tour ended earlier this month, culminating in a free concert in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, which attracted a whopping 1.6 million fans.
The event, breaking records as the biggest standalone concert ever, was the culmination of a tour which saw Madonna traverse Europe and the States, before making her way across North America, Canada and Mexico City.
Metro.co.uk has approached Madonna’s reps for comment on this story.

Warrant: 13-year-old boy beaten to death with piece of wood, handgun
HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) – A 13-year-old boy in Horry County died after documents state he was severely beaten.
Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard said that 13-year-old Isaiah Gaymes died around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday. Willard said he died at the Medical University of South Carolina from blunt force trauma.
Ivy Jenerette and Samantha Gaymes were arrested in connection with the alleged assault that led to Isaiah Gaymes being rushed to the hospital on Wednesday. Jenerette was later additionally charged with murder in the boy’s death.
RELATED COVERAGE | Warrants: Pair arrested after child found with ‘life-threatening injuries’ in Horry County
An incident report shows that Horry County police responded on Wednesday, May 8 to a home on Pint Circle in the Longs area.
Warrants state that Jenerette beat Isaiah and Samantha Gaymes several times with a blunt object.
Documents show that the assault caused life-threatening injuries to the teen, including “multiple blunt force injuries to the side and back of the head, along with several other injuries” that included “broken bones, burns and permanent disfigurement to the face and body.”
A warrant for Jenerette’s murder charge also stated a piece of wood and a handgun were recovered at the scene. Both objects “tested presumptive for blood” and were “consistent with the injury patterns on the victim.”
Arrest warrants for Samantha Gaymes show she allowed the pattern of physical abuse on the 13-year-old.
Samantha Gaymes is charged with unlawfully placing a child at risk.
Felecia Bellamy and Angela Gore were educators at Riverside Elementary School when Isaiah was a student there. They said he was a protector, especially when it came to his little sister.
“Although he didn’t get protected, he spent a lot of his time making sure his sister was protected,” Bellamy said.
With the tragic passing of Isaiah, the two educators are taking it upon themselves to do what his mother couldn’t do for him.
“We are so blessed and so honored that God has given us the opportunity to be able to help him even in this final goodbye,” Bellamy said.
A funeral will be held on Monday for Isaiah which was made possible through community donations and from the funeral home at North Strand Chapel.
Bellamy and Gore are also starting a scholarship in Isaiah’s honor and to make it their mission to protect other kids like Isaiah.
“We know Isaiah’s story very well and we’re going to make sure that in helping and establishing this scholarship that it’s going to be able to help people that are in situations like he was,” Bellamy explained.
Meanwhile, the Horry County Police Department and the South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division will continue to investigate Isaiah’s case.

A top mental game coach shares the importance of having positive goals
Goals must be positive in nature, says mental-game guru Julie Elion.
Getty Images
In an age of 500-yard par 4s and 6-irons that fly farther than Old Tom Morris’ 1-wood, Bobby Jones’ attunement to the mind, “Golf is a game that is played on a five-inch course — the distance between your ears,” still rings true.
I’ve worked as a mental coach for dozens of PGA Tour professionals over the past 25 years, helping them fulfill their dreams of winning golf’s biggest events. There’s a lot to navigate, as you can image, but whether we’re walking down the immaculate fairways at Augusta National or through gnarly U.S. Open rough, I see in my players’ eyes that the mind is the most daunting hazard out there.
In this new monthly column (and through more content on GOLF.com), I’ll share what I’ve learned and studied, what I talk about with top competitors and how I’ve seen our lessons play out on fairways, greens and, of course, from penalty areas. I love working at the Tour level, but in these pages the tee box is yours. I’ll help you understand what I do and how recreational golfers can benefit from the same principles I teach the world’s top players. No quick slice fixes or putting drills. I’m here to help you navigate that five-inch course.
It starts with self-awareness, which is not an easy trick.
Socrates supposedly said, “The unexamined life is not worth living.” So let’s examine. One of my primary strategies in helping golfers is to get them to identify goals before every event.
The goals vary for each player — it’s personal and based on our work together. That said, there are common themes that I reinforce, and the most common is conscious positive intentions, which represent the key thoughts to remember that day, whether it’s a Monday qualifier on the Korn Ferry Tour or the final round of a major. Often, all it takes is a simple message — distilled into a few easy-to-remember lines — to make a difference. Most important, however, is that the message needs to be absolutely positive.
9 ways to improve your mental game (and maintain your composure)
As the late — and often cited — psychologists Amos Tversky and Daniel Kahneman found, loss aversion is a strong force. We prefer avoiding losses to acquiring equivalent gains. Perhaps that’s why, as a recent golf-specific study by sports psychologists Marc Lochbaum and Jarrett Gottardy (1) discovered, players who focused on positive goals played better than those who played with fear of negative outcomes. Obsessive insight and analysis about a problem seldom results in a winning putt.
Think about it: After one of your foursome warns you, “Don’t go left,” how many of your drives make a beeline for the drink? The avoidance advice hurt your performance. You would have been better off simply selecting and focusing on your target. Sure, motivation based on avoidance can have positive outcomes, but, often, it’s been proven to cause a bad case of energy drain. Knowledge of relevant hazards is useful, but it’s not a goal. No one likes taking penalty strokes, but positivity is paramount.
Many of my players ask the same question: “Why does it work like that?” We all tend to underestimate how powerful it can be for our concentration and focus if we reinforce good energy and maintain an “affirmational” mindset. The elite athletes who find their optimal mental attitude are the ones who end up pulling away from the pack.
I’ll continue with the first of two paradoxes: Should you focus on mastery and learning to be the best you can be, or does that acknowledgment of a “natural limit” create in your mind the possibility of being less than your best? I get it. In a perfect world, we’d set goals we know we can achieve. But then we’d never grow.
Your best bet is to set goals that reinforce energy and concentration with specific steps related to what you’re trying to do. Between shots, you have 30 seconds, at most, to think about what went wrong before you step into the next one.
The second paradox is aligned with golf’s tendency to favor the counterintuitive. For example: The lowest score wins, swinging left sends the ball to the right, smoother swings sometimes produce longer shots than speedy ones. This trend is true of the mental game too.
Every golfer knows that your external reality — blow-up holes, bad contact, bad reads, etc. — can influence your internal state. But the reverse is just as true: Your internal state can create your external reality.
The 1 mental mistake recreational golfers make way too often
Golf is about setting goals that bring you energy and fun, and when you’re having more fun you’re in a happy place. Ben Hogan, one of the greatest champions in the history of the game, said he was happy to hit just one or two perfect shots per round. There was something smart happening on the Hawk’s personal five-inch course, and everyone — from high-handicaps to scratch players — would be wise to play the game the same way.
Next month we’ll talk about neuroscience as it relates to goal setting, including a concept called peak flow. Until then, have fun!

2-time PGA Tour winner and former ASU golfer Grayson Murray dies at 30

Two-time PGA Tour winner Grayson Murray died Saturday morning at age 30, one day after he withdrew from the Charles Schwab Cup Challenge at Colonial.
There were no immediate details on the circumstances of his death, only shock and grief from the PGA Tour and his management team.
“I am at a loss for words,” PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan said. “The PGA Tour is a family, and when you lose a member of your family, you are never the same. We mourn Grayson and pray for comfort for his loved ones.”
His management company, GSE Worldwide, confirmed the death and said it was heartbroken.
“We will hold off on commenting until we learn further details, but our heart aches for his family, his friends and all who loved him during this very difficult time,” GSE said in a statement.
Monahan said he spoke with Murray’s parents to offer condolences, and they asked that the tournament in Fort Worth, Texas, continue.
He said grief counselors would be on site at the PGA Tour and Korn Ferry Tour event in Knoxville, Tennessee. Monahan said he was headed to Texas.
Murray, who had dealt with alcohol and mental health issues in the past, made a massive turnaround this year and won the Sony Open, hitting wedge to 3 feet for birdie on the final hole to get into a playoff and winning it with a 40-foot putt.
He also won the Barbasol Championship in 2017.
Murray was No. 58 in the world rankings coming off a tie for 43rd in the PGA Championship last week at Valhalla. He also made the cut in his Masters debut, finishing 51st, and was in the field for the U.S. Open next month at Pinehurst No. 2.
Murray, who grew up in North Carolina, was among the most talented juniors in the country. He won the prestigious Junior World Championship in San Diego three straight years and earned the Arnold Palmer Scholarship at Wake Forest.
He wound up going to three colleges, lastly at Arizona State from 2013-15, where he shot a season-low 71 in his first tournament as a Sun Devil during the 2014-15 season
He won as a 22-year-old PGA Tour rookie at the Barbasol Championship.
Murray said when he won the Sony Open in January that he had been sober for eight months, was engaged to be married and felt his best golf was ahead of him. He was appointed to the 16-member Player Advisory Council.
“My story is not finished. I think it’s just beginning,” Murray said in Hawaii. “I hope I can inspire a lot of people going forward that have their own issues.”
Murray said he used to drink during tournament weeks as a rookie because he knew he had talent and felt he was invincible. He also brought attention to himself through social media, openly criticizing other players and getting into one social media spat with Kevin Na over Na’s reputation as a slow player.
But he felt like he turned the corner when he sought help — letting others fight for him, is how he explained it this year.
“It took me a long time to get to this point,” Murray said in January. “That was seven years ago, over seven years ago. I’m a different man now. I would not be in this position right now today if I didn’t put that drink down eight months ago.”

Savvino-storozhevsky monastery and museum.
Zvenigorod's most famous sight is the Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery, which was founded in 1398 by the monk Savva from the Troitse-Sergieva Lavra, at the invitation and with the support of Prince Yury Dmitrievich of Zvenigorod. Savva was later canonised as St Sabbas (Savva) of Storozhev. The monastery late flourished under the reign of Tsar Alexis, who chose the monastery as his family church and often went on pilgrimage there and made lots of donations to it. Most of the monastery’s buildings date from this time. The monastery is heavily fortified with thick walls and six towers, the most impressive of which is the Krasny Tower which also serves as the eastern entrance. The monastery was closed in 1918 and only reopened in 1995. In 1998 Patriarch Alexius II took part in a service to return the relics of St Sabbas to the monastery. Today the monastery has the status of a stauropegic monastery, which is second in status to a lavra. In addition to being a working monastery, it also holds the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum.
Belfry and Neighbouring Churches
Located near the main entrance is the monastery's belfry which is perhaps the calling card of the monastery due to its uniqueness. It was built in the 1650s and the St Sergius of Radonezh’s Church was opened on the middle tier in the mid-17th century, although it was originally dedicated to the Trinity. The belfry's 35-tonne Great Bladgovestny Bell fell in 1941 and was only restored and returned in 2003. Attached to the belfry is a large refectory and the Transfiguration Church, both of which were built on the orders of Tsar Alexis in the 1650s.
To the left of the belfry is another, smaller, refectory which is attached to the Trinity Gate-Church, which was also constructed in the 1650s on the orders of Tsar Alexis who made it his own family church. The church is elaborately decorated with colourful trims and underneath the archway is a beautiful 19th century fresco.
Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral
The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is the oldest building in the monastery and among the oldest buildings in the Moscow Region. It was built between 1404 and 1405 during the lifetime of St Sabbas and using the funds of Prince Yury of Zvenigorod. The white-stone cathedral is a standard four-pillar design with a single golden dome. After the death of St Sabbas he was interred in the cathedral and a new altar dedicated to him was added.
Under the reign of Tsar Alexis the cathedral was decorated with frescoes by Stepan Ryazanets, some of which remain today. Tsar Alexis also presented the cathedral with a five-tier iconostasis, the top row of icons have been preserved.
Tsaritsa's Chambers
The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is located between the Tsaritsa's Chambers of the left and the Palace of Tsar Alexis on the right. The Tsaritsa's Chambers were built in the mid-17th century for the wife of Tsar Alexey - Tsaritsa Maria Ilinichna Miloskavskaya. The design of the building is influenced by the ancient Russian architectural style. Is prettier than the Tsar's chambers opposite, being red in colour with elaborately decorated window frames and entrance.
At present the Tsaritsa's Chambers houses the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum. Among its displays is an accurate recreation of the interior of a noble lady's chambers including furniture, decorations and a decorated tiled oven, and an exhibition on the history of Zvenigorod and the monastery.
Palace of Tsar Alexis
The Palace of Tsar Alexis was built in the 1650s and is now one of the best surviving examples of non-religious architecture of that era. It was built especially for Tsar Alexis who often visited the monastery on religious pilgrimages. Its most striking feature is its pretty row of nine chimney spouts which resemble towers.

Madonna, 65, and boyfriend Josh Popper, 30, split: report

Thanks for contacting us. We've received your submission.
The material girl is back on the market.
Madonna and her boyfriend, Josh Popper , reportedly broke up after a year of dating.
According to the US Sun, the “Vogue” singer, 65, and the boxing coach, 30, struggled to find time for each other during her “Celebration” tour, which ended earlier this month.
“Madonna has barely seen Josh for months because her schedule was so hectic. Things just fizzled out,” a source told the outlet.
“There is genuinely no bad blood — they’re still fond of each other.”
The insider added: “At the moment their relationship doesn’t feel feasible and they’ve cooled things off, but they are staying friends.”
Last March, Page Six exclusively reported Madonna had been seen cheering on Popper at one of his boxing matches in New York City.

“Madonna doesn’t date losers,” quipped our spy. “She looked good.”
The pop star confirmed her romance with Popper days later when she posted a bizarre snap of her and the former NFL player sharing a kiss while they were both masked and dressed in all black.
“Killers who are partying,” she captioned the pic, in which she was dressed as Queen Esther at a Purim party.
However, sources told Page Six the relationship was a publicity stunt to help promote Popper’s gym.
Popper seemed to be supportive of Madonna’s highly successful career, even traveling with her to attend some of her tour dates .
During her Brooklyn show in December 2023, he flashed a big smile as he sat in a chair alongside the “Material Girl” singer on stage for a portion of the show in which they judged dancers’ moves to her hit “Vogue.”
At one point, Madonna leaned over to kiss her beau on the cheek in front of the audience.

Sublime releases first new song in 28 years with vocals from Bradley Nowell and his son
(Gray News/TMX) - Sublime has released their first new song in nearly 30 years.
The new song titled, “Feel Like That” includes vocals from the band’s late frontman Bradley Nowell and his son, Jakob Nowell.
1996, 28, was just 11 months old when his father was found dead of a heroin overdose on May 25, 1996, and has long considered his father’s bandmates to be uncles.
Last month, he made his debut as Sublime’s new vocalist at Coachella .
“This song came about in an organic way. My uncles and I always want to collab with artists in different modern music scenes,” Jakob Nowell shared. “But hearing my own voice on a track side by side with my dad’s voice really feels like the classic Sublime sound stepping into the modern era.”
The new song was produced by longtime Sublime collaborator Michael “Miguel” Happoldt, along with Stick Figure members Scott Woodruff and Johnny Cosmic.
“Sublime is who inspired me to make music, being a part of this track is a full circle moment in so many ways. From the vault to the people, this one’s been a long time coming!” Woodruff said.
Before the song’s release, Woodruff told Rolling Stone that he used old recordings of Bradley Nowell, founding members Eric Wilson and Bud Gaugh from a 1996 jam session to create the track.
“Good things come to those who wait … and wait … and wait,” Gaugh said. “We’ve been waiting too damn long!!! Now hear this!!! This is the good sh** that makes you ‘Fell Like That.’”
Jakob Nowell added, “SoCal music is my family’s pride and joy and our family is getting bigger every day. ‘Feel Like That’ captures this new sentiment and we want it to be the first of many.”
The band is also set to tour this summer, stopping at several festivals scheduled through the end of the year.
