On July 15, 2016 the My ship 5 , the youngest new building of the Hamburg cruise line Tui-Cruises, christened in Lübeck-Travemünde.

There were many things to consider when planning, building and launching the cruise ship. But not by the name of the ship. After Mein Schiff 4 comes logically Mein Schiff 5 ; Finding a name is that easy TUI Cruises .

Fourteen months after the first steel cut, Mein Schiff 5 was swimming in the construction dock of the January 15, 2016 Meyer Turku shipyard on. And on June 20, 2016, TUI Cruises officially took over the new building, 10 days earlier than originally planned. The ship was christened on July 15, 2016 in Lübeck-Travemünde. The singer and songwriter Lena Meyer-Landrut acted as godmother.

After the successful start of the company with two of Celebrity Cruises acquired used ships was with Mein Schiff 3 the starting signal was given for the development of a largely identical series of ships. With 1.267 cabins, the number of cabins has increased slightly compared to the previous ships: there are 127 inside, 97 outside and 963 balcony cabins. The proportion of balcony cabins is again more than 82 percent. All standard cabins are 17 m² each. Only the outside cabins designed for 4 to 6 people have a living space of 29 to 44 m².

The area of ​​the 64 junior suites, which have 28 m² of living space and 8 m² of balcony area, is a lot more comfortable. Guests in the suite areas don't have to restrict themselves at all. The size of the suites varies between 40 and 54 m². A total of 12 cabin categories offer passengers the “feel-good moments” that TUI Cruises ships represent.

The offers in the SPA & SPORT area promise passengers a “feel-good holiday for all the senses”. A total of 1.800 m² of space is reserved for the SPA & Sport decks with the outdoor sport areas.

Active athletes are offered, in addition to the 25-meter outdoor pool and the 280-meter long jogging track, indoor cycling and much more, for a surcharge, vitality checks, personal training and individual nutritional coaching. The rest areas with the indoor pools on the two predecessor ships Mein Schiff 3 and Mein Schiff 4 have become open and offer more berths Lagoon remodeled. Mein Schiff 5 was apparently planned for use in sun-drenched regions. Besides the Sand lies the newly arrived Fitness-yourself-path with six outdoor sports equipment that can be used at any time.

The SPA is exotic Thailand dedicated. Sixteen cabins for different beauty treatments and two manicure areas are available for men and women, for young people and couples. The restaurant was effectively placed on deck 4 in the "Diamant" in place of the previous café.

Meyer Turku Delivers TUI Cruises' Mein Schiff 7

Finnish shipbuilder Meyer Turku on Monday delivered Mein Schiff 7 to German cruise line TUI Cruises.

Mein Schiff 7 is the seventh ship of the Mein Schiff series built at the Turku shipyard. "Mein Schiff 7's symbolic start of production, the steel cutting ceremony, took place at our shipyard on June 14th, 2022," says Tim Meyer, CEO of Meyer Turku, "We are very proud to have delivered Mein Schiff 7 to TUI Cruises today, less than two years later. This was made possible by our long-standing and close cooperation."

Mein Schiff 7 is the first ship in the Mein Schiff fleet to run exclusively on low-emission marine diesel (with maximum sulfur content of 0.1%). The ship has a shore power connection and is equipped with catalytic converters. In addition, Mein Schiff 7 is built so that it can also run on methanol, which with the green methanol of the future will make the ship's propulsion power almost CO2-neutral. Mein Schiff 7 is the first vessel with methanol capability built at the Meyer Turku shipyard.

"Receiving this ship is a special moment for us. Ten years ago we acquired our first Blu Motion class ship here in Turku, and by 2019 we had built a total of six vessels. We would like to thank the Meyer Turku shipyard for the excellent cooperation and the development of our well-being fleet. We are now sailing on Mein Schiff 7 to Kiel, where we will welcome the first guests on board on June 12th”, says Wybcke Meier, CEO of TUI Cruises.

Casino (capacity 20 seats) has roulette and blackjack tables, plus 15 slot machines. The Casino opens only when the ship is at sea.

Abtanz Bar is a disco nightclub (capacity 100 seats, opens at 10 pm) with large dance floor, DJ programming nightly, “Cabin Fever” dance parties.

Rauchersalon (Cigar Room) is the smoking lounge, selling fine cigars and premium brand liquors.

Bordreiseleitung is the Cruise Director Office (open between 11 am - 1 pm and 5-7 pm). It provides information and assistance regarding Mein Schiff 5 itinerary program (ports of call, arrival/departure times), also about cabins, future cruise booking on board, baggage handling, TUI cruise and air packages, land transfers, etc.

Hanami (starboard, capacity 62 seats) is a specialty Asian-Japanese cuisine restaurant for sushi and other traditional specialties (Yakitori chicken, Shabu Shabu fondue /fish or meat) and drinks (Asian teas, Kirin beer, bamboo sake). The sushi restaurant is open for dinner only (6:30-11 pm) and with an a la carte menu (at surcharge, reservations are required). The menu is created by the German, 2-starred Michelin chef Tim Raue.

“Osteria Pizza e Pasta” is a new pizzeria restaurant (90 indoor / 24 outdoor seats) with waiter service.

“Schmankerl-Entspannt” is a new restaurant (50 seats) offering Austrian cuisine specialties.

Tag & Nacht (Day & Night) is a 24-hour open bistro (88 seats, Scandinavian decor) for regional and international fast food, snacks, hot meals. The bistro is open for Breakfast (6-12 am), Lunch and Dinner (12-10 pm) and also for late-night snacks (10 pm - 6 am).

Schau Bar (Show Bar) has capacity 249 seats and is open between 4 pm - 0:30 am. The Show Bar serves specialty cocktails and has a stage for live music entertainment.

“Richards” is the “Fine Dining” dinner restaurant (capacity 70 seats, open 6:30-11 pm, reservations required). This is a premium dining venue (at surcharge PP) with a la carte 6-course gourmet menu, plus an extensive list of fine wines.

Surf & Turf is a specialty seafood/steakhouse restaurant for prime meat and fish specialties. Once per Mein Schiff 5 cruise, a Latin-themed Churrasco dinner will be served on spits, with side dishes and desserts available from the buffet station. Among Surf & Turf specialties are beef tenderloin (Wagyu meat), Iberian pig,  lobster tail, separate healthy food and wine menus. The restaurant is reservations only (capacity 100 seats) open for Lunch (12-2 pm) and Dinner (6:30-11 pm), with an a la carte menu (food and drinks cost extra).

Diamant Bar (Diamond Bar) serves the Grosse Freiheit aft lounge area. The bar has large panoramic windows and an extensive molecular drinks menu with cocktails and premium wines. Diamond Bar hosts cocktail workshops and liquor/wine tastings.

Grosse Freiheit lounge (located at the stern) is one of the most special places on Mein Schiff 5. It features an 1800 ft2 / 167 m2 glass wall – a diamond-shaped facade spanning on 2 decks.

Champagner Treff (Champagnes Match) is located portside at the stern. This is a small capacity wine bar / special occasions venue (capacity 16 seats, open 4-12 pm) with a nice selection of fine champagnes.

TUI Cruises has taken delivery of Mein Schiff 7 from shipbuilders Meyer Turku in Finland. 

The seventh ship in the Mein Schiff fleet was handed over at an official signing ceremony attended by Meyer Turku’s CEO Tim Meyer and head of projects Tom Degerman, and TUI Cruises’ CEO Wybcke Meier and chief financial officer Frank Kuhlmann.

“Receiving this ship is a special moment for us,” said Meier. “Ten years ago, we acquired our first Blu Motion class ship here in Turku, and by 2019 we had built a total of six vessels. We would like to thank the Meyer Turku shipyard for their excellent cooperation and the development of our well-being fleet. We are now sailing Mein Schiff 7 to Kiel, where we will welcome the first guests on board on 12 June.”

Mein Schiff 6 Kicks off 2024 Adriatic Season from Trieste

TUI Cruises’ Mein Schiff 6 kicked off its Adriatic season out of Trieste, Italy on Sunday, June 9.

The ship embarked on a seven-night voyage from Trieste headed to Kotor, Montenegro; Corfu, Greece; Zadar, Croatia; and Koper, Slovenia before returning to Trieste on  June 16.

Previously, the Mein Schiff 6 spent a few weeks exploring the eastern Mediterranean. At the end of a nine-day cruise from Heraklion, Crete, the ship reached the port of Trieste on Sunday, June 8.

During its summer 2024 Adriatic season, the Mein Schiff 6 will offer itineraries ranging from seven to 14 nights in length, visiting destinations including Split, Zadar and Dubrovnik in Croatia and Bari in Italy.

The ship will sail out of the Italian port through October when it’s scheduled to reposition to Singapore for its winter season of exploring Southeast Asia.
