Welcome To House Call Pet Doctor
House Call Pet Doctor is proud to serve Newark, DE and surrounding areas. Dr. Caroline is dedicated to providing high-level veterinary care to your animals wherever they might be, along with friendly, compassionate service.
We understand how stressful a visit to the vet can be for animals, which is why we aim to treat your pets where they are most comfortable: at home. This becomes especially important when pets reach the ends of their lives and euthanasia is required. Our goal in these cases is to provide you and your pets with a dignified farewell in a comfortable place.
Dr. Caroline Wieczorek is a highly trained, experienced animal lover who is devoted to giving her patients the best care possible.
If you have any questions about how we can care for your pet, please don’t hesitate to call us at (302) 234-7848 to request your pet’s appointment!

What Our Clients Say
Dr. C loves my pets as if they were her own. She is very good with all my pets.
Very happy that we found her she handled my cats excellent!
Dr. Wieczorek is wonderful!!! She arrived at the house ahead of schedule and brought everything needed to examine and treat my four-legged baby, making the best of my less-than-optimal "exam room," aka my kitchen. She is very knowledgeable and experienced, as well as a really nice and caring person (of course she is, she's a vet!). I very highly recommend her services!
Dr. Caroline (I cannot for the life of me spell her last name without butchering it) came out as soon as she could, and checked my poor sick hound. She can run full blood tests in-house without having to run through a lab, and will treat on-site unless it's serious or a real emergency. Her fees are comparable to my usual vet's with the convenience of her coming to you - especially helpful if you're like me and only have one car for the household. She is just the nicest person, and a dedicated and gentle pet doctor.

"As a pet-palliative-care advocate, sympathetic, compassionate and high-standard end-of-life care for pets is central to my ideology"
Dr Caroline Ficker BVSc(Hons) CertSAM PGDip CHPV MRCVS – Veterinary Surgeon
Caroline's veterinary vocation developed at an early age and her love for animals and desire to help and heal them has continued ever since. Caroline graduated with her degree in Veterinary Science from Melbourne University in 1987, and throughout her career has gained extensive experience in small animal (dog and cat) medicine. She has worked in general practice and in emergency clinics and has held senior vet positions in London practices between 1997 and 2004.
Home Visit Vet was established in 2005 to provide general home veterinary care in London. Caroline’s special interests at this time were internal medicine, senior-geriatric medicine and medical ethics. A chance meeting with a palliative medicine specialist in 2008 consolidated Caroline’s focus into palliative and end-of-life care, which she has been devoted to ever since. It was a natural progression to rebrand these to PalliVet (pallivet.uk), reflecting Caroline’s experience, expertise, devotion and compassion in this emerging field.
Home Visit Vet still provides general home services to our long-established clients and for urgent one-off home visits by referral from local vet practices.
Having lived with pets for most of her life, Caroline knows and understands the love and bond we share with our pets, and how that bond strengthens over the years and is most poignant at life's last chapter.
Caroline's ‘heart dog’ was Bodie, a Border Collie dog (pictured with Caroline). Caring for Bodie in his elder years, and the grief experience after his loss has further reinforced Caroline’s drive to specialise in palliative and end-of-life care and help other families.
Outside of work, Caroline is head servant to a loving and mischievous Burmese cat, Leo.

"The Local Mobile Vet team are caring, professional folks who bring convenience to you! I appreciate not having to schlep my dog in a car for an appointment, since they come to me. I don’t think I’ve ever had to wait more than 3 days between calling to schedule an appointment and having Dr Jackie show up, and they’ve also worked my dog in the same day when we had more urgent medical needs."
Cris O’Dell
"If you’re looking for a mobile, caring, personalized, informative, professional, and competent clinic, then LMV is for you. I have 5 pets, lived in several states and experienced an array of vet clinics in CA, FL, WNC. LMV is legit in its knowledge and capabilities, and Dr. Caplin specifically has gone above and beyond for my fur kids, always fast with results and efficient. Though surgeries/dentals will need to be done by another vet, LMV makes this process seamless with excellent recommended hospitals. It’s a bonus that they provide acupuncture and laser treatment. And have excellent and kind receptionists!"
Justin Shaw
"Dr. Caplin and her crew were absolutely amazing!!! Taking 3 pugs to the vet has always been an event. They get stressed, I get stressed, and we end up getting puppuccinos and tequila (for me) to recover. No more thanks to Local Mobile Veterinary Service! The entire visit was done on my front porch, was the same cost as a normal visit, included nail trimmings, and the pugs got peanut butter! I highly recommend these professionals and the service they provide"

Dr. Caroline Chamarande
Dr. Chamarande (Dr. C) was born and raised in Fontainebleau, France. After she received her French baccalaureate, she earned her Bachelor of Science and her Masters degree in Chemistry from American University. She worked for the chemistry department at the Naval Research Laboratory in DC, but abandoned her career as a chemist to follow her lifelong dream of becoming a veterinarian. She graduated Cum Laude from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine (VT). After 24 years of service at a practice in Falls Church, Dr. C. decided that it was time for a change. She joined MVP where the owner and staff share her values in providing quality veterinary care and believe in strengthening the bonds between pets and their families to assure a long and happy relationship. She enjoys the atmosphere at Mainstay for it allows time to get to know the pets and their owners, educate owners on veterinary care, discuss training, play with puppies and kitten, and just plain socializing pets!
Dr. C has an active interest in Internal medicine and Animal Behavior and Training. She is a longtime member of AAHA, VVMA, NVVMA, and D.C. Academy of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Chamarande is federally accredited by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, which authorizes her to perform evaluations and issue International Health Certificates for pet travel.
In her free time, Dr. C enjoys time with her husband, three children, and her furry pets. She has a frequently-rotating “pet population” at her house as she often finds herself taking in animals that need new homes. Currently the pet population at Dr. C’s household consists of Lazarus (a rescued Yorkie), Chewy (a rescued Anatolian Shepherd) and Rosie (a re-homed chihuahua). That is about all the animals her poor allergic husband can tolerate at this time.

Meet our Team
Dr. caroline horn dvm, mmsc.
Dr. Caroline Horn is the owner and founder of Paws at Home Mobile Vet. She earned her veterinary degree at the University of Georgia and practiced for 10 years as an emergency vet in Atlanta, Georgia and Asheville, North Carolina. Dr. Horn also obtained a master’s degree in human medical science with a specialty in anesthesia at Emory University. From 2002-2018, she primarily provided anesthesia services to people while practicing part-time veterinary medicine.
For several years, she worked with the specialists at Peak Veterinary Referral Center, assisting with pain management and anesthesia to some of their critically ill patients and providing anesthesia services for their MRI patients. Dr. Horn also authored the chapter on veterinary small animal anesthesia for one of the most popular and best-selling small animal surgical texts, Small Animal Surgery, by Theresa Fossum.
Dr. Horn believes there is a need for additional mobile vet services in the Burlington area and recognizes that for many reasons it can be difficult to get pets to traditional veterinary clinics. Dr. Horn’s interests in pain management and elderly pet care make a mobile vet service a natural fit. As an alternative to the traditional veterinary clinic, a home visit can mean less stress, more convenience, and more direct access for you and your pet to your pet’s doctor.
Dr. Horn shares her home with three dogs, two cats, one very large bird, and one very loving husband.

You will meet Paige while she’s riding around in the van and will frequently hear from her if your pet is enrolled in our palliative care program! Paige, a Vermont native, now resides in Plattsburgh, New York. She has two crazy rescue cats called Beans and MoMo
Ellen Jones
Ellen Jones joined the Paws at Home team in August of 2022 as their receptionist. She has a long background of customer service and spent two years in the hospitality industry as an office manager and guest services specialist. She loves animals and people and is excited to get to communicate with and help our clients!
Ellen is our voice on the phone, if you call our office line she will be there with a heartfelt greeting and a kind word to handle inquiries about our services and make your appointments. She lives and works in South Carolina so if you hear a slight accent or she interjects a “y’all” now and then don’t be alarmed! Family pets are great pals. Pets can sometimes bring a source of moral support, therefore assisting to strengthen their owner’s sense of wellness and happiness. And similar to family, pets need to be valued. They have to be attended to. They also require routine check up to maintain their wellness.
In contrast, instead of the clinic or doctor, your cats and dogs require to be brought to the vet on a regular basis. Disregarding to do so might jeopardize the overall health and well-being of your pet cat or dog. Most people treasure their household pet. They want their cat or dog to be strong and lively. While there are numerous veterinarian centers in Asheville, NC, they may be too far away from your residence or you might be too tied up on the job that you have no time at all to bring your family pet to the vet.
We Come To You!
Pet owners have to squeeze in a visit with a veterinarian in their busy routines, but even if one finds the right time, an appointment for that particular time slot might not be fixed. Clinics work on a first-come-first-serve basis. Chances are you and your pets will be lined up much, much later. Think how devastating this could be if you understand in your heart your canine or feline needs immediate treatment. Not all pet-lovers have sufficient time to go on distances or perhaps even drive a vehicle to get to a vet. This is especially bothersome if you are sharing a car with someone and you don’t always have access to it.
Much worse, your furry mate himself might be making it hard for you to arrange a vet checkup. He might be too stressed out or too sick to travel. These, however, shouldn’t prevent you from having a veterinarian check out your pets.
Now, we know how important a visit to the veterinary center is to your furry companion; that is why we make our services conveniently accessible to you and your pet through mobile vet services in Asheville.
