Why do you need the best couples questions for road trips?

The beauty of the best couples’ questions for road trips lies in the opportunities they provide. As you and your partner embark on the open road, these questions can serve as important tools to shape your journey in meaningful ways.

New couples questions for road trips

At the start of a relationship, you might find these questions useful for triage. They offer great conversation starters , potentially turning an awkwardly quiet car ride into a lively discussion filled with laughter and discovery. It’s a wonderful way to delve deeper into understanding each other and examine whether your core values align, which is essential for deciding whether to continue dating or not.

Long term couples questions for road trips

As your relationship matures over the years, these questions maintain their relevance, helping to keep your connection fresh and exciting. There’s always a chance to uncover something new about your partner , as people continually evolve over time. It’s equally important to understand your partner’s current perspectives and perhaps learn about things they might do differently now. Engaging in real, meaningful conversations on couples road trips can strengthen your bond and make it easier to navigate potentially difficult topics.

Pass time for an interesting road trip

Beyond the deep insights and shared laughter, these questions also provide a fun way to pass the time during long drives. We always recommend road trips as a good date idea whether that’d be in the morning or evening. Road trips are amazing in helping us disconnect from screens and phones and reconnect with ourselves. That’s especially true if you decide to road trip date along the beach for example as the proximity to the sea always provides relaxation. But these trips can be long and driving can get boring if no conversation is going. Those couples questions for road trips are a great remedy to this problem and will make the longest road trip enjoyeable.

Twist the rules

As a twist on the usual format, consider asking your partner what they think your answer would be to a question. It’s a fantastic way to see how well you know each other and to add a playful touch to the game.

Deeper connection and quality time together

Ultimately, the best road trips for couples are not just about admiring stunning landscapes or sharing romantic sunsets. Road trip games for couples questions

We have shared our favorite road trip couple games before but here are a couple that we can recommend in this post.

  • 20 Questions: This classic game is always fun. One person thinks of something, and the other person gets to ask 20 yes-or-no questions to figure it out. It’s a great way to learn more about your partner’s thinking process.
  • License Plate Game: Try to find a license plate from every state. If you want to up the ante, try to spot license plates from different countries. This can be a fun ongoing game throughout your entire road trip.
  • Truth or Dare: This is one of the easiest games to play when on a road tip with your partner. You can use our truth or dare questions for couples to kickstart the game.
  • Would You Rather: Come up with challenging scenarios and ask your partner, “Would you rather do X or Y?” It’s a great conversation starter and can lead to some hilarious debates.
  • Desert Island: A classic game where you each choose five items that you would bring if you were going to be stuck on a desert island. This game can lead to interesting conversations about priorities and survival skills.

Podcasts for couples on road trips

There are many many podcasts out there that are great for relationship talks and to listen to with your partner during a road trip. Here are some that we personally like:

  • Love life with Matthew Hussey: Matthew Hussey calls himself a relationship expert. You may know him for having dating singer Camila Cabello for a bit. Though we don’t always agree with every one of his takes, he does provide some good insights and tips on better communication and interaction in romantic relationships.
  • Shagged, Married, Annoyed by Chris and Rosie Ramsey: This podcast goes over all the quirks, fun times and less fun times of married life. It’s a good one to listen to if you want to listen to a fun podcast that feels more like a conversation but still learn a thing or two!
  • Pretty Basic Podcast by Alisha Marie and Remi Ashten: Though this podcast isn’t focused on relationships and dating, Alisha and Remi actually bring up the topic quite often. While Remi is in a long term relationship, Alisha isn’t set on a special someone yet so the conversations gets quite interesting and focus on a range of topics from dating to living with your partner. Because it doesn’t fully focus on relationship, it’s also a good one to listen to on a road trip for entertainment with topics like YouTube behind the scenes, brand trip behind the scenes, growing up stories and more.

There are a few things that can make or break any relationship.

Infidelity. Jealousy. Insecurities. Infertility. Money problems.

How about taking a long drive or road trip together?

Hey, it’s possible.

You can learn a lot from being in a car together for hours, maybe even days, with your significant other… and it may not be all good.

On the flip side though, it could be great. Almost like free therapy.

Think about it.

You are in a car with limited distractions.

The driver is (or should be) focused on the road and conversation. Maybe music.

The passenger may surf on their phone or tablet now and again, but chances are they won’t for very long.

They may take a nap if they’re taking turns driving.

But then what?

Having a list of road trip questions for couples on hand can be an educational and entertaining way to pass the time… especially on those long stretches of highway.

If you aren’t married yet, this could be a great opportunity to figure out if you want the same things from life.

If you are already hitched, this is a good time to reconnect or address any issues you may be having.

In this article, I’ve broken 119 questions down by category to help get the ball rolling.

Final Thoughts on Road Trip Questions for Couples

Open, honest communication is the key to any good relationship. If you aren’t forthcoming with your partner, issues and feelings have a tendency to get bottled up… until they explode into an argument that could have likely been avoided.

That or you wind up resenting each other.

But know this… talking to your partner doesn’t always have to be so formal.

There is a time and a place for everything.

While there will be times where a sit-down heart to heart is warranted… there will be other times when things just happen.

Road trips can be the perfect excuse to reconnect with one another in a light-hearted and casual way.

But instead of letting the little things get in the way of having a great time, plan ahead to make the most of your trip and survive with your couplehood intact.

  • Play games. Entertain each other with travel games like the alphabet or license plate game, or ask each other couples’ road trip questions .
  • Avoid getting hangry. Pack plenty of snacks and drinks to avoid getting irritable and arguing with each other.
  • Listen to music, audiobooks, or podcasts. Before leaving, create a playlist of songs or download books or podcasts that fit your likes and personalities.
  • Do your research. Resist planning out every detail, but definitely take time to learn the basic route you’ll take on your trip as well as things to do and places to eat while you’re away. Be spontaneous in a prepared way.
  • Rest regularly. Long drives can take a toll on the mind and body. Stop as frequently as you need to for bathroom breaks and to stretch your legs.
  • Embrace the silence. It’s nice to have things to talk about, but forcing the conversation can make it feel uncomfortable. Expect and accept lulls in the conversation, especially on longer trips. Check out the scenery or sing along to the radio to fill the silence.
  • Be prepared. The best way to have loads of fun is to control the things you can control and go with the flow for the rest. Have your travel documents, know where you’re going, set a budget, expect the unexpected.

The things you talk about on your road trip will depend on how long you’ve been together and your personality.  You’ll need to consider how much you’re willing to share about yourself.

If you’re taking a trip together, it’s probably safe to assume you’re reasonably comfortable around each other.

But there are still some guidelines you can follow to ensure a smooth trip and secure future trips together when considering road trip questions .

Avoid sensitive topics, hot-button issues between you, or topics that could negatively affect safe driving.

Some subjects to consider include:

  • Your relationship
  • Plans for the future
  • Friends and family
  • Dreams and goals
  • Beliefs and values

Road trips can keep your relationship fun and exciting with a little planning.

Prepare yourself with our conversation starters to make the most of exploring new places and doing new things together.

Enhance The Road Trip Experience With These Bonus Tips

Keep it interesting….

Instead of JUST guessing each other’s answer first for the questions in the road trip quizzes for couples section, guess each other’s answer first for ALL the questions.

Bonus points: this is going to kill SO MUCH TIME. You’ll even feel like you have teleported to your destination! Maybe.

Best Apps To Make The Road Trip Fun

Your phone is smart (or so it leads you to believe) so put that phone to use and download a few apps to make asking these road trip questions for couples more fun. I recommend:

  • Spotify – Remember to use my playlist above! We love playing Epic music when we drive through forests like in Pisgah National Park!
  • Apple Podcasts – For when you’re sick of hearing each others’ voices with all these questions and need to hear someone else.
  • Popcorn Trivia – Test your movie knowledge together!
  • Jeopardy – test your knowledge of useless facts together
  • Wordscapes – These crosswords and word puzzles may be harder to play together than asking road trip questions but are a great way to mix up your road trip games!

Expand Beyond These Questions

If you get through ALL of these questions (umm, gold star to you?) then you are likely on the world’s longest road trip and I don’t envy you.

But, in all seriousness , we love this Couples Connect game for when we truly run out of things to ask each other. It’s created by professionals and has tons of questions in different categories! It’s small and easy to pack too which makes it an excellent road trip game!

What Happens If There is a Disagreement on the Road?

The most important thing to remember when you are asking these road trip questions for couples is that this is a game of discovery not a game of debate . These questions are meant to be fun conversation starters that help you get to know each other and not start arguments.

However, here are 3 tips to help if disagreements do arise :

Avoid Defensiveness: If a response surprises or upsets you, try not to get defensive. Instead, ask open-ended questions to understand your partner’s perspective better.

Take Breaks: If a particular topic becomes too heated, it’s okay to take a break and revisit it later or decide to move on to a lighter question.

Use “I” Statements: Instead of saying “You always…” or “You never…”: express your feelings using “I” statements. For example, “I feel hurt when…” or “I would appreciate it if…”.

Though going on a road trip is fun and exciting, it's not a walk in the park. Aside from a good travel game, fun topics to talk about , and gas, you must pack road trip essentials to ensure everything goes smoothly.

Trip essential #1: Snacks and Water

This is one of the most basic road trip essentials. Pack snacks and water just in case you get hungry, and there are no diners nearby. You can't concentrate on driving if they're hungry!

Trip essential #2: Wet Wipes and Tissue

When nature calls and you're in the middle of nowhere, these items will be a lifesaver.

Trip essential #3: Emergency Road and First Aid Kit

Trip essential #4: Playlist

Who goes into a long car ride without a good playlist ? Put your favorite song on your road trip playlist and jive with it while driving!

You must be excited to go on a long road trip, especially now that you are equipped with road trip questions for couples . But I know you still have questions at the top of your head. Let's get to them!

How long should a road trip drive, ideally?

Ideally, you should not drive more than 6 to 8 hours a day. Driving can be draining and tiresome, too, so take frequent breaks. Stop by a roadside attraction, and don't rush; just enjoy the ride!

Can I ask her to take turns driving?

Yes, as long as she knows how to drive. Tell her your limits so she won't be surprised when you ask her to take turns driving. It could be her favorite part of the car ride because she controls it.

How long should we be dating before we go on a trip?

There are no rules about that! In fact, you can take her on a road trip as your first date. Just set her expectations so she'll know what to take with her. Pack some date night questions, too, while you're at it.

Is it okay to play games while driving?

Yes absolutely! There are travel games that are suited for driving players. Just make sure not to lose focus on the road. Remember, safety is your priority.

We talked about some of these questions during our road trips, but it didn’t start with a question. It’s more after we saw something on the road. Like I wish to have an ability to fly after we visited Superman in Metropolis, Illinois. Or, when we saw a jackpot billboard and talked about what we would do if we win. Good idea!

Hubby and I love to road trip. And the time on the road actually gives us a lot of time to talk. I love some of the ideas you have for starting a new discussion. We have talked about many of these things or know a lot about each other’s preferences. But there are some good new questions here for our next trip.

We sure do love our road trips, and it’s great couples time as all you have to do is talk. I’ve always tried some of these conversation starters, so there are lots of great ideas here. Being married 26 years, we know each other pretty well, especially our preferences, so I’m always looking for new and interesting questions.

Now this is going to be fun! We are going to Italy soon what involves not a road trip but three longer train and bus rides (we are doing a detour to visit some friends and family). This questions will be a good way to kill the time on transport.

Great discussion ideas to pass the time on a long ride or even on a shorter one. Sometimes you get caught up in the humdrum daily life and conversation can become humdrum too. Many of these ideas can be good anytime, not just on a road trip!

101 Road Trip Questions For Couples (So Long Drives Feel Shorter)

good road trip questions for couples

101 road trip questions for couples

After the 160-hour mark, I was tired. We both were. The long highways. The cool February air. The early morning check-ins. Long drives had begun to feel like heavy-weights tethered to our feet. And I wanted to take back the symbol of the open road, wipe away the blemishes we’d made, and turn it into freedom.

Early 2020, my partner and I made a pact to explore a new state every weekend. We both had (and still have) full-time day jobs so this meant pre-packing a carry-on, hidden beneath a pile of snacks and sweaters, in the backseats of our car. After 5 PM on Fridays, we’d drive upstate or downstate (or east or west) depending on our mood and crash in a hotel around 1 AM (so we could explore a new city over the course of a short weekend).

Once February came around, the rhythm of our creaky old car’s wheels no longer lulled me to sleep and I started to realize just how long these drives were. A part of me wanted to stay awake long enough to feel the winding small town roads beneath my feet (in a quiet and meditative way) and a part of me wanted to talk until the moonlight split under the sun.

So we turned up the radio, listened to With The Fire On High by Elizabeth Acevedo , Born A Crime by Trevor Noah , and as hours passed, discussions about books slowly turned into just conversations.

Looking back on those times, I can confidently say I loved the unfiltered chats my partner and I had on the road. It brought us closer together. And long drives (that were beginning to push us to the brink) suddenly began to feel too short.

Hence, this post. Road trip questions for couples.

I’ve split these road trip questions for couples into categories so it’s easier for you to sift through. Feel free to start anywhere (with any prompt that catches your eye)! Don’t be afraid to modify these road trip questions in any way you like. They aren’t set and this is by no means a be-all-end-all list.

I’m writing this compilation of road trip questions for couples as a starting point. It’s a foundation that I hope builds into memories (let me know if you try them).

So without further ado, here are 101 road trip questions for couples.

Road trips are one of the most engaging ways to travel. Travelers that go on road trips do not have to worry about the stress of packing super efficiently , going through security, leaving valuables in checked bags or crowded airports. So in the past, road trips were the traditional mode of transportation across the United States. The interconnectedness of North America has made travel more accessible for people with cars. The flexibility of road trips is one of the best parts since travelers can curate their own itineraries. Plus, travelers can explore a destination more thoroughly with their own vehicle.

For couples, a road trip can be a bonding experience. The adventure of exploring the open road can lead to learning a lot about a person. Communication can even be easier since there are less distractions. Travelers can even play road trip games for more opportunities for deep connection and creating lasting memories. During a road trip, couples can be more intentional about spending quality time together and improve their communication. They can make the journey even more fun by asking questions that encourage connection.

But for avid travelers, a road trip may be a more serious assessment of their relationship. Finding a good match can also mean finding a good travel partner. While some travelers prefer to travel solo while in a relationship , some appreciate having a romantic travel buddy. Baecations are on the rise and travelers can gauge (or test) their travel compatibility while domestically traveling first. A road trip is the perfect opportunity to do so. Asking these fun and insightful road trip questions for couples can mark the beginning of a beautiful love story (or strengthen it).

30 Road Trip Games for Couples

good road trip questions for couples

The car is packed, the playlist is prepped, and the passenger princess is strapped in. What are you forgetting?

With a few long hours ahead, we suggest making note of these road-trip games for couples that will keep everyone entertained — even if rush-hour traffic stops you in your tracks! Discover your favorite road trip game for your next couple’s adventure, and you’ll be surprised how fast time will tick by.

Whether you want to quiz your partner or want to walk down memory lane with some classic games (hello I Spy!), we’ve rounded up the best road trip games to help you pass the time.

What can you do with your boyfriend or girlfriend on a long car ride?

Traveling as a pair with no kids or friends in tow? Take the opportunity to get to know your partner better! With countless hours at your disposal, there is a range of road trip games to keep you both entertained!

1. Mystery gifts

Do you have a gift-giving love language? Then this could be the game for you.

Your road trip’s going to have lots of gas station stops. Pledge to buy each other one mystery gift at the next stop. You can turn it into a guessing game or just get them something quirky as a memento.

Whether you make it into a sweet tooth stop or feel like stocking up on some quirky keychains, the options are endless!

2. Counting your steps

Fun car games all involve sitting still, right? Next time you pull over, set yourselves a time limit. Using your smartphone, watch and any step apps, use the limited time to get as many steps in as you can.

Will you look a little crazy running around the car park? Yes. Will it make it even more fun? Also, yes.

This one’s a great game for competitive types – who will log the most steps?

3. 36 questions to get to know each other

Want to get the conversation flowing?

If you’re looking for conversation starters, you can’t do better than these 36 questions to fall in love. Learn more about your deepest, most treasured memories or plan for the future with these road trip questions.

4. Would you rather?

A good old-fashioned game of ‘Would you rather?’ is guaranteed to get your significant other laughing.

It’s a world away from those road trip games for couples questions and involves picking the best of two bad scenarios. Start small and dial it up to something more frisky!

5. Two truths and a lie

How much do you really know about each other? Tell your partner two truths and one lie, then make them guess which one is the lie.

Try and keep your poker face on, and no matter how many questions your partner asks — don’t give any hints!

6. Kiss, marry, kill

This is one of the best fun road trip games for couples but it also works in groups.

Simply pick three celebrities and say if you would kiss (or more!), marry or kill them. It’s an amazing insight into the mind!

7. The Compliment Game

Ready to get all ooey-gooey with your partner?

Begin with the first letter of the alphabet and compliment something you like about them, starting with that letter. Arms, boobs, zippers – you get the idea.

8. The Newlywed Game

This one needs the passenger prince/princess to be in control, keeping score along the way!

Put your partner under pressure by asking them a range of intimate questions, from where you had your first date, to the first time you said you love each other. Take turns as you run through all the questions, and when you change drivers at the next pitstop — it’s your turn in the hot seat!

What are some good games to play on a long road trip?

If you’ve got a really long road trip, or if you’re traveling with others, you’ll need to get creative. Try these on for size.

9. Road trip bingo

This one takes a little prep. Make up some bingo cards before you leave and mark them with observations like “somebody mowing their lawn” or “somebody crossing the street”.

The rarer the spot, the better!

10. I’d like to know more about…

The one thing you have been blessed with on this trip is time.

So ask yourselves, what’s a topic you’d really like to learn more about? Dig out some podcasts, look for audiobooks on Amazon, or just head to Wikipedia and start learning.

To make sure everyone was listening, why not break out a quiz round at the end?

11. License plate anagrams

The license plate game is great for getting those creative cogs whirring. Look at the plates in front of you and try to come up with words – could these be linked to the driver?

Or if you want to expand your horizons, they can also use any passing billboards, signs, or any other tools to encrypt the words.

12. The story game

Feeling inventive? Start to tell a story. It can be something simple like, “Once upon a time there was a couple driving home.”

Your partner can start the next sentence and so on –  like your road trip, who knows where it will end up?

13. Sorry I Was Late

This one’s a great movie game for you cinephiles out there. Start by telling your partner you’re sorry you were late, then explain why – but in the style of a movie plot. Have them guess what it is.

For example, I’m so sorry that I was late, I was just bitten by a spider that gave me superpowers and then I had to go save the world with a billionaire superhero. (Any guesses?)

14. 21 Questions

A classic but it can get pretty interesting, especially if you’re willing to be inventive!

Learn more about the way your partner’s brain works by asking them 21 questions, and if you want to get extra competitive, give out points for every question you didn’t use.

15. The Movie Game

This is another great one for movie buffs, or even those who are secretly obsessed with pop culture. Start by naming an actor and then go to the next person, so they can name one of the films they were in!

Go back and forth between your group until someone runs out of ideas!

16. The Name Game

This word game is perfect to keep you on your toes!

Start with anyone’s full name (try and be more creative than your own!) and then the next person has to name someone using the first letter of the previous person’s last name. It sounds confusing, but once you get into it, there’s no stopping you!

road trip games for couples

What are some games to play in the car?

Traveling with kids? There are plenty of car ride games for couples and kids, with lots of distractions to keep everyone entertained!

To avoid the constant, ‘Are we there yet?’ questions, these games could be your ticket to a fun road trip!

17. What’s their story?

There’s nothing like a bit of people-watching to pass the time, is there?

Look around for the first person you can see. Ask your partner and the kids – what’s their story? See what exciting versions of their lives you can come up with.

18. The cockpit game

Ready to take off? Pretend the car is your own jumbo jet. You’re upfront with the pilot and the kids are the cabin crew. Where are you going, and will the pilot take off safely? Whoosh!

19. Scattergories

This alphabet game involves picking a category and then a letter of the alphabet. So you might say something like car brands and ‘P.’ Whoever runs out of ideas loses!

20. Odd car out

Make your next road trip more exciting by looking out for automobile oddities. You might spot a classic car on the other side of the road, or it might just be a funky color. Set each other a goal for vehicles to spot and see who gets there first!

Long drives always go quicker with a game of I Spy. Have the kids guessing for hours or watch them drift off – then you can play the more adult games for couples!

22. Alpha-DJ

Another fun alphabet name game, you’ll need a music player to play this one. Play DJ and get everybody to ask you for a song title or artist beginning with a certain letter.

23. Guess the song

Still playing DJ? Start by playing only the first few seconds of a track, before the song lyrics kick in if you can. The first player to guess the song correctly wins!

24. Speaking in song

This one’s as much a memory game as it is a trivia game – can you think of a song that will keep the conversation going?

Start a new chat with the title of a song, such as, “Have I told you lately?” Then the next player will have to respond with another song title. The player with the last word wins.

25. While you were sleeping!

This is a great one if you have any sleepy kids in the car!

Just wait for one member of the family to doze off, while the rest of you concoct a wild story of what happened while they were sleeping. Get as creative as possible, and see if they believe you!

What do adults play in the car?

If you’re lucky enough to be enjoying road trip activities solo, you can be as naughty as you like. You’ve also got free rein to make games more complicated – just keep those eyes on the road.

26. Degrees of separation

Start by naming two distinct objects. Let’s say a witch’s broom and a getaway car. Can you get there in six steps or fewer by word association alone? Hermione rode a witch’s broom…Hermione loves Ron…Ron drove a getaway car…you get the idea.

27. Junk memories

Who said clearing out the messes in your car can’t be fun? Go through your old receipts and tickets and try to think back to the memories of that day. Here’s a check for a burger restaurant…remember that date?

This can be a fun walk down memory lane, while also being a subtle way to clean up their car!

28.  Truth or dare

You can make this one as daring as you like! It could be something tame like tooting your horn at another driver or making a fool of yourself in the gas station.

Feel free to  make it naughtier too – this is a couple’s road trip, after all.

29. Fun photo ops

Nothing makes for weird and wonderful photo effects like a moving car. Take snaps out of the window or of the two of you while moving. Just make sure you don’t distract the driver!

30.  Never have I ever

Travel games for couples are great because they rely on imagination rather than just alcohol.

In this booze-free version of this classic game, ask each other to confess your deepest darkest secrets. Take a swig of a non-alcoholic drink or try another gesture, like winking.

16 Road Trip Games for Adults That Are Actually Fun

T he summer season is one of the very best for traveling across the country or taking an epic West Coast road trip . But after a few hours of blasting your passenger's favorite playlist, cruising with the windows down or indulging in some homemade road trip snacks , boredom will inevitably kick in.

Here's what to do when you can't take another hour in the car!

20 Questions

Long road trips are a perfect time to find out how well you actually know your road trip passengers. During this game of 20 Questions, one of the players must choose a fellow passenger (or a celebrity!) without revealing their identity. The other players can only ask up to 20 questions to figure out who the secret person is. The questions can range from easy to obscure, like what their favorite frozen summer treat is.

In this road trip game that's catered toward more creative personalities, passengers can kill time by making up their very own story. One person starts off by saying a word that begins a story, and the rest of the group must take turns tacking on just one more word to complete the sentences. It's hilarious to see how the story ends!

Name the Song

Chances are, music buffs will have their favorite old-school songs blasting during road trips. To play Name the Song, one passenger has to simply say a song lyric aloud while the others have to try and guess what song it is. In another version of the game, one passenger can play just a snippet of a song—and the rest of the group is left to figure out what song it is, and which artist sings it.

Going on a Picnic

If you have a bad memory, you probably won't do so well during a round of Going on a Picnic. The first person must begin the game by saying the phrase, "I'm going on a picnic and I'm bringing..." Then, they end the sentence by stating what delicious food item they'll be packing in their metaphorical picnic basket . The following players must re-state the entire phrase, remembering which item the person before them is bringing and adding something else to go along with it. Whoever gets it wrong must sit out the next round.

The License Plate Game

The License Plate Game is a true road trip classic—and it's really great for those who are traveling across the country. All players must write down every license plate they see from a different state on a piece of paper, and the person that has the most at the end of the car ride wins. Crank the game up a notch by awarding extra points to the players who can name the capital city of that state, or the most iconic food that a state is known for . If the driver wants to join in, create a collective list.

Take a trip down memory lane with this nostalgic road trip game. Alternating throughout the game, one player must give a clue—usually a simple physical description, like the color of an item—of something that they see out the car window while driving. The other players have to guess what it is that they're talking about, whether it's a popular fast food sign or a tree you're passing.

Would You Rather?

This is one of the best road trip games for adults. Friends, couples and siblings alike will probably end up laughing (or cringing) at some point during a game of Would You Rather. Players must break off into pairs, then take turns asking each other which of two scenarios they would prefer to pursue. You can opt for something like two dramatic life-or-death situations, or ask your fellow passenger to choose between two equally strange foods.

Road Trip Trivia

Each state that you drive through has some pretty deep history. Designate a person as the "host" during a round of Road Trip Trivia, and have them ask the passengers in the car specific questions that pertain to the state or city you're all traveling through.

Before you embark on a road trip, DIY your very own bingo boards. Fill each grid with makes and models of vehicles you'll most likely pass during your trip. At the beginning of the ride, hand out the bingo boards—along with a pen or pencil. Whoever gets bingo first, wins!

Guess the Time

When you've eaten all of the road trip snacks you packed and have slept until there's no way it's possible for you to be tired, take turns guessing the time you'll arrive at your final destination. Whoever guessed the right time (or the closest to it), is the winner.

The Movie Game

The first player begins this game by naming an actor, and the next player has to think of a movie the actor has been in— bonus points if the movie is about food ! The next player must think of another actor who has been in that same movie, and the subsequent player has to state a new movie that actor has been in. Keep playing until someone can't think of an actor or movie, then start again.

The Alphabet Game

In this simple but fun game, car passengers have to take turns finding a billboard or sign that has each letter of the alphabet. Just wait until you get to X, Y and Z!

The Hot Seat

Have you ever wanted to grill one of your fellow passengers but never got the opportunity to do so? In the game of The Hot Seat, each passenger has to take a turn being asked five questions that they normally would never want to answer out loud.

Never Have I Ever

Never Have I Ever is played exactly as it sounds. The passengers who choose to play a round of this game have to hold up five fingers. One person starts by saying a phrase that they've never done, and the rest of the players must either keep their fingers up, or put one finger down if they have done it. The first person to make a fist is out.

The Rhyming Game

To play The Rhyming Game, one player has to choose a word, and the other players must take turns stating a word that rhymes with it. You can also make this even more challenging by using categories, like Italian food terms . If someone can't think of a rhyming word or repeats a word, they're out.

The Quiet Game

Even though it might sound like the easiest, The Quiet Game will challenge the most chatty passengers in the car—whether they're children or adults. The driver must decide a certain time frame, and the rest of the passengers have to remain silent. Whoever speaks or laughs first loses!
