Right outside the gates of the cruise terminal, you'll find the taxis and public buses. The taxi rates are fixed and there is a max capacity of five passengers. The Arubus buses drive to many destinations, giving you the flexibility you need to get anywhere you want to go, whenever you want to be there.

Do you want to explore your surroundings on foot? There’s a lot to do within walking distance. We already mentioned Eagle Beach, but we can also recommend Oranjestad. The Aruba cruise terminal is situated here, so you can hop off the ship and get immersed in this colorful town immediately. 

L.G. Smith Boulevard and the Renaissance Marketplace are obvious places to go, but don’t forget Havenstraat, Schelpstraat, and Main Street. They run parallel to the boulevard and are definitely worth a visit. Tip: look out for the tram tracks. 

Want to see more of the island? Drive around! Near the cruise terminal, you can find many car rental companies. Or make use of the taxis and public transport services.

Aruba, Dutch Caribbean

Together with Bonaire and Curacao, Aruba forms a group referred to as the ABC islands. Unlike much of the Caribbean region, Aruba has a dry climate and an arid, cactus-strewn landscape. Constant trade winds bring cool breezes and cause the divi-divi trees to slope southwesterly. European influence shows in architecture that features Dutch gables painted in tropical pastels. It’s also evident in language, with English, Dutch, and Spanish spoken alongside the local tongue, Papiamento. Aruba has a climate that is characterized by high temperatures, heavy humidity, high wind speeds, and constant cloud cover. The average temperature over the course of a year is between 77 and 91 degrees Fahrenheit, and it very rarely drops below 74 or rises over 93 degrees. It is essential to point out that Aruba is located south of the general hurricane pathways and, as a result, is typically only affected by the periphery of the tropical weather in the surrounding area. The dry season typically lasts from February through June, while the rainy season begins in September and continues through January, with rain showers typically occurring in the early morning hours. Aruba's wet season finishes in January.
