Once you have taken your test we are unable to speed up your results. We have integrated with our laboratory partners to ensure that you will automatically receive your results and doctor's certificate as soon as they are released by the laboratory.

Can I get my certificate signed by a doctor?

To ensure the fastest possible turnaround, your results and doctor's certificate will be emailed to you.  Our doctor's letters are on a DocTap headed document and include the signature and GMC number of our medical director. We have had very few requests for paper copies or stamps.

Should you require one of these then we can arrange it to be stamped or signed at one of our London clinics at no extra charge. If you require this please let us know once you have received your results.  Please allow an additional 24 hours to arrange printing and signing of your certificate.  We only have a limited number of London locations where you can collect a certificate from.  We will be able to advise you on your options depending on the day your results are available.

COVID-19 tests

We are pleased to be offering COVID-19 pre-travel (PCR) tests and antibody tests to the general public.

COVID-19 hero

Antibody tests

An antibody test can tell you if it’s likely you have had coronavirus before, however it cannot tell you if you have coronavirus now.

  • Patients should only attend an appointment and take this test if they are free from any symptoms of the coronavirus
  • It takes just 10 minutes for one of our team to take a sample of your blood, via a needle
  • The test will confirm if you have antibodies to the virus but is not an indication of future vulnerability
  • We will send your test result via an encrypted email within 48 hours of your sample being taken
  • After the test, you will be provided with a leaflet explaining the different types of test results but we are not able to discuss individual test results or provide antibody interpretation services
  • The cost of the test is £98.00. This will be taken over the phone by one of our team. We will only accept payments via credit card or debit card.

The test has been verified in collaboration with King's College NHS Trust and is currently being used there also.

Pre-travel tests

Pre-travel coronavirus swab tests are for people who are travelling abroad. This is the most reliable way to detect if you do or do not have COVID-19. The cost of this test is £135.

Each country has a different set of requirements for when the test should be taken, so please ensure that you time your test appropriately depending on your own personal travel requirements.

We will send results within 48 hours on your COVID-19 ‘fit to fly’ certificate. You must ensure that the country you are travelling to will accept a PCR test as proof of a negative coronavirus result before you travel.

+ what is day 2 pcr test.

Anyone who has traveled from the UK during the Covid-19 pandemic has been required to take several Covid-19 tests, before, sometimes during, and then again upon returning to the country. Until now, these tests have been predominantly polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests, but the government recently announced that this is all to change in the very near future. Day 2 PCR tests Are Replacing antigen tests. As the world continues to open up for international travel, the UK government has announced changes to the testing requirements for people entering the country. From 11th February 2022 , fully vaccinated travelers will no longer be required to take a day 2 test upon arrival.

+ Is Day 2 PCR test more expensive than Day 2 antigen test?

With majority of the travellers being fully vaccinated, this would reduce the hassle that is needed to return to the UK. Although a small number of travellers who are not vaccinated, would need to purchase a more expensive Day 2 PCR test.

+ Is there going to be a diffrence for Vaccinated and Non-Vaccinated travellers testing?

While things are now much easier to understand, we appreciate that you still probably have an array of unanswered questions about Covid-19 travel testing. So, to help you out, we’ve put together this helpful list of Covid-19 Travel Testing FAQs.

But please remember that Covid-19 guidelines often change with very little notice, so always double-check the latest requirements before you book your travel.

+ What Covid-19 test do I need when I come back from a non-red-list country?

Fully vaccinated passengers returning no lomger need a test to book. Only non-vaccinated travellers are required to book a Day 2 PCR test or order a home test.

+Do I still need to test if I am fully vaccinated?

No Fully vaccinated travellers with an approved brand of vaccine, no longer need a test to book.

+What about if I’m unvaccinated?

You would need to book and pay for your PCR Day 2 test. You will recieve a test reference code which you would need to enter to your passenger locator form prior to deprature to UK.

+What is the passenger locator form?

Before arriving in the UK, all non-vaccinated travelers are required to complete a government-issued passenger locator form. This should be done within 48 hours of your arrival, and there are no costs associated with the form. You will be required to show the form to your airline before you board.

+How do I get my Covid-19 test result?

When you have ordered and received your lateral flow test from a private testing clinic, you should follow the instructions to complete the test at home. Return the test via post to us. You would then recieve your test result within 24 hours of us receiving your sample.

+Can I take the test at home, or do I have to visit a clinic?

The government requires travelers to take a lateral flow test on day 2 of their return, so it’s up to you whether you visit a clinic or do it at home. But remember, you cannot use the NHS service for Covid-19 travel testing, so you will have to contact a government-approved UK Covid-19 testing facility to order and arrange your test.

Are the rules on Covid-19 testing the same for the whole of the UK?

Travel policy in the United Kingdom is devolved, so each government has the final decision upon whether to adopt the new changes. Previously, both Scotland and Northern Ireland have aligned with a central policy on Covid-19 testing. But Wales has criticised the move to replace PCR testing, which they describe as ‘the gold standard of Covid testing. So be sure to check the GOV.UK website for up-to-date testing requirements for each region of the UK.

There’s always a big checklist when it comes to going on holiday - and that list now includes getting a Covid test.

There are different tests you can get, depending on where you’re heading, and plenty of places offering them.

But when it comes to getting the right one for travel, and making sure you get your results on time, the best option is at the airport.

The LAMP testing, also in the terminal testing centre, costs £85 and gives results within 120 minutes.

However, if you have time, you can undergo home testing with the lateral flow/rapid antigen test from £39, with results within 120 minutes. Their PCR Home Self-swab results come back within 24 hours (from receipt at the lab), and cost £69.

Which Covid tests do I need for travel? The rules explained

Which Covid tests do I need for travel The rules explained

International travel resumed from the UK on 17 May 2021 and, as of 4 October, it has maintained only a singular red list of high-risk countries, with all those not on the red list considered safe for travel. In addition, all Covid travel rules were dropped for those entering the UK from 18 March 2022, including the requirement to take any Covid tests, quarantine or fill out a passenger locator form. The government also stopped managing any quarantine hotels from the end of March. Here's what you need to know about taking a Covid test before, during and after travel.

Do I need a PCR, antigen or lateral flow test for travel?

The standard test is the PCR – standing for Polymerase Chain Reaction – which is a nose or mouth swab test that takes seconds and detects the genetic material in the virus known as RNA. Depending on the rules in your destination, you might need to show results that have been produced within either 48, 72 or 96 hours, which can be arranged at a number of places and ordered by post to take at home – the results are emailed within 48 hours of the test taking place. There is also the more rapid antigen test – also known as the lateral flow test – which involves taking a swab and mixing it with a solution on a paper strip, which can be done at home and gives a result within 30 minutes. Some countries will accept an antigen test completed by a recognised company, while other countries do not need you to take a test if you have proof that you are fully vaccinated or have the relevant Covid-19 antibodies, so it is best to check the government site for the country you are visiting as a first port of call.

Since 18 March 2022, travellers have not needed to test at all when returning from non-red list countries to England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. On 24 February, the legal requirement to self-isolate if you test positive for Covid was removed in England (although it remains official government and NHS advice that people should continue to self-isolate if they test positive for coronavirus for at least five days). This rule is mirrored in Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

Book a test now with government-approved provider Qured

Can I use NHS Covid PCR tests for travel?

It should be noted that free NHS PCR tests, now only available in the UK for those in certain more vulnerable groups if they are showing symptoms (apart from in Scotland where they continue to be available to anyone showing symptoms until the end of April 2022) cannot be used for travel, whether you are double vaccinated or not.

Cost of Covid tests for travel

The price of Covid tests varies greatly depending on where you book with, but it's important to always use a government-approved provider . You may also wish to book your test through the same company you'll be travelling with, as this can often work out cheaper. Expect to pay at least £60pp for one PCR test, and between £18 and £30 for a rapid antigen or lateral flow test.

Where to get Covid tests for travel

It’s best to shop around to find the right price for you – and the right location, if you’re taking a test at a clinic. Some branches of Boots offer it, as well as outfits such as Global Nomad and VFS Global . The latter has centres in London, Birmingham and Leicester that can be visited, and also provides home-testing kits for a discount, with results within 36-60 hours from the time the laboratory receives the sample. For customers requiring a negative result 72 and 96 hours before travelling, kits can be ordered weeks in advance of a journey and kept at home. Customers should order tests at least five days before their trip and then perform and return them via next-day delivery four days before – again, this takes careful planning to ensure you don’t stray outside the time frame.

You can find a comprehensive list of locations near you to get Covid tests for travel via the government website .

Which countries require Covid tests for entry?

Many countries now require travellers to take a test before entering. Check coronavirus travel advice for the country you are visiting and for the UK before going abroad.

When do I need to take the test?

This takes careful planning, although any good clinic will ask you the date and time of your flight or journey before arranging a test. Make a note of your departure date and work backwards, and allow for weekends when receiving results may not be possible. It also depends on whether the country asks for a result produced within 48, 72 or 96 hours of your departure for your destination – make sure to take the test as early as possible within the time frame. Note that some airport test services, for example, aren’t available on the day of your flight, but have to be scheduled 48-96 hours in advance.

Entering the UK

Layovers and transiting through a uk airport.

Passing through a UK airport while on the way to another country is called ‘transiting’. Some travellers call it a ‘layover’.

There are 2 types of transiting:

  • ‘airside’ - you do not pass through UK border control before you leave on your connecting journey
  • ‘landside’ - you do pass through UK border control, but come back through it and leave the UK within a short amount of time (usually 24 hours)

Find out if you need a UK visa for your layover.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) travel rules

You do not need to take any COVID-19 tests or fill in a passenger locator form if you transit through the UK. This applies whether you are fully vaccinated or not.

The country you’re travelling to from the UK might still have COVID-19 entry rules in place. Check the rules for the country you’re travelling to before you go.
