England coach / bus tour reviews.

Overall, it was a fantastic experience. There were a couple of small hiccups, nothing is perfect, but our guide and our driver did a fantastic job of making the experience fun and meaningful. The only thing I would flag is that the group size is a bit large - we were 46 - which can sometimes make for slower travel. Otherwise, absolutely wonderful!
Greg is an excellent tour guide, knowledgeable, friendly, cheerful and very helpful. As well our driver was the best, kind and helpful.
We had a great trip. Ouf tour guide Chris couldn’t have been mord pleasing, caring and committed to making our trip as enjoyable as possible. He was an excellent driver , very safe and mindful of our comfort. Also we were blessed with the flexibility of thd tour in very wet conditions.

"Greg added so much to our trip, including excellent communication regarding logistics and schedules. He brought a kind of genuine positive energy that was contagious, and was full of information and suggestions. He also added some really nice touches such as local sweets. I would be thrilled to travel with Greg again.

The English Problem

When you want to explore England, it can be difficult to know where to start. There are many beautiful parts of England and loads of different things to do. Luckily, there are plenty of tour companies that offer coach tours and guided tours of the most popular destinations. Whether it’s for history, culture, or simply pleasure, England has something to offer everyone. There are so many things to do in England, everything from visiting castles to sampling local delicacies to taking in the natural beauty of the countryside. Some tours show you famous filming locations in England, whilst others focus on gardens or country houses. All coach tours are guided by a friendly tour guide who is full of local knowledge. It’s the perfect way to see England whilst learning more about this historical and stunning country.

Discover England

Take a fabulous coach tour and enjoy what this truly unique land has to offer. Explore the many historic cities, picturesque villages and coastal towns, and take in the lush green countryside and colourful rambling moors. You could start your tour in London, England’s capital, and spend a few days finding your way around this amazing and iconic city. Don’t forget to explore the many outstanding museums, and book a guided tour to get the most out of them. One of added bonuses of some London museums is the free admission, but donations are welcome. In the evening enjoy a West End Show, or soak up the vibrant atmosphere in the many bars and restaurants.

The Queen is at Home

Not far away from London is Windsor Castle, residence of The Queen and the largest lived in castle in the world. Similar to Buckingham Palace, you get a chance to see the Changing of the Guard at Windsor Castle as well as the tombs of past royalty including Charles I, Henry VIII and one of his wives, Jane Seymour. Further north, a few hours drive away is the city of York which is entrenched in history and must be explored when visiting England. Vikings, Romans and King Richard III, York has seen it all, and continues to be one of Britain’s most popular tourist destinations. Enjoy high tea at the iconic Betty’s or dare to take a ghost walk and guided tour through the medieval Snickelways of York, an array of narrow passageway and hidden alleyways.

Roman Bath Anyone?

Visit the historic city of Bath, famous for its Georgian architecture and natural hot springs. See the extraordinarily Roman Baths and Pump Room, built by the Romans and still beautifully preserved after 2,000 years. Take a guided tour around this exquisite city and be prepared to be amazed. You can’t visit England without a trip to Salisbury Plain to see Stonehenge. This prehistoric monument was first built around 5,000 years ago and has stood the test of time to provide wonder to generations of people. Discover the history and theories about this famous stone circle in the visitor centre and be enchanted by the mystery of the whole place.

Time for a Cream Tea

Devon & Cornwall are also a must see when visiting England. Renowned for tasty pasties and cream teas, the beauty of this area is truly outstanding. Take a coach trip to Land’s End, the most westerly point of Britain, and view the stunning St Michael’s Mount. Not far is the Minack Theatre, an open-air theatre which has been carved into the granite cliff and is quite a sight to behold. The seaside town of St. Ives is also a beautiful place to explore and maybe pick up a piece of art to remember it by. It can be guaranteed that any place you wish to visit in England will be remembered with great fondness for a very long time. For the more adventurous, Cornwall has some of the best surf beaches in the UK and we can arrange a lesson for you.

General election: Conservatives pledge £20m each for 30 towns

The Tories said the cost of funding the additional 30 towns would be around £60m a year over 10 years, which they said was "affordable" under plans to clamp down on tax avoidance.

The Conservatives have pledged to give £20m to 30 towns across the country - a move the Labour Party has branded a "reckless, unfunded commitment".

Rishi Sunak's party said it would add the towns - many of which are based in the Midlands and north - to its existing long-term plan for towns, increasing the number that will receive financial support to more than 100.

The Tories said local people in each area would decide how the money would be spent, through new town boards composed of community leaders, businesspeople, local government and the local MP.

Election latest: Starmer says Abbott 'free' to stand for Labour

The prime minister said the "bold action" would "transform" 30 towns, as he claimed Labour's record in government "shows they don't care about towns - neglecting their needs, allowing them to decline and focusing instead on cities."

"Sir Keir Starmer has no plan to unlock opportunities in towns and would take us back to square one," he said.

"Building on our strong track record of levelling up in Teesside and the Midlands, we will go further across the country to build a secure future for our children and grandchildren."

Andrew Griffith, the science minister, clarified that each of the 30 towns will be handed £20m, rather than this being the total investment.

Asked by Sky News how far the cash will really go, he said: "It's £20m for each of those towns. The cost of this policy is £600m, it phases in over the next 10 years or so."

Some of the towns proposed to be added to the scheme include Tamworth, Preston, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Corby, Halifax, Bognor Regis, Newtown, Flint, Perth and Newry.

A large number are being defended by Tory candidates in this election.

The 30 new towns come on top of Mr Sunak's decision on the eve of the Tory party conference in September last year to award £20m to 55 "overlooked" towns across the UK over a 10-year period.

A further 20 then formed part of the second tranche, which was announced in the March budget.

The Tories said the cost of funding the additional 30 towns would be around £60m a year over 10 years, which they said was "affordable" under plans to clamp down on tax avoidance.

It comes as Mr Sunak launched the Conservatives' campaign battle bus, emblazoned with the slogan "clear plan, bold action, secure future" in Redcar.

But Labour argued the funding ringfenced to pay for investment in the 30 towns was the same as that being used to fund recent announcements to create a new tax free allowance for pensioners and the National Service Plan that would compel those over 18 to take part in either community or military training.

Sir Keir Starmer has said "wealth creation" is his top priority in an election pitch to the middle class and middle ground, as he unveiled the party's plan to get more people into work , insisting "those who can work, will work".

Sir Keir joined shadow chancellor Rachel Reeves and deputy leader Angela Rayner in unveiling the Labour battle bus this morning in Uxbridge, Boris Johnson's former constituency.

Labour has said its Take Back Control Act will devolve power from Westminster and give communities a new right to request more powers.

It has also put forward its own Green Prosperity Plan, which it says will create 650,000 jobs across the country - although it will no longer spend £28bn a year for the rest of the decade on the country's green transition.

Ms Rayner said: "Just days ago, Rishi Sunak raided levelling-up cash to fund his teenage Dad's Army.

"Today he's back making yet another reckless unfunded spending commitment, sure to be broken as quickly as it was made.

"Everywhere you look, communities up and down the country are feeling the impact of 14 years of Tory decline: boarded-up shops, soaring bills and a widening wage gap with London."

Liberal Democrat levelling-up, housing and communities spokesperson Helen Morgan said: "This isn't fooling anyone after the Conservatives' broken promises on 'levelling up' since 2019 have completely failed to deliver.

"Their 'levelling-up' agenda over the last few years has pitted councils against each other and left them begging for scraps, and rural areas often failed to benefit at all. We need to see proper funding for local councils alongside more powers for them to make investments they believe in."

Luke Baldwin to make NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour debut at New Hampshire

MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Rising Modified competitor Luke Baldwin will make his NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour debut at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on Saturday, June 22. Driving the Pace-O-Matic No. 7VA for Sadler-Stanley (SS) Racing, Baldwin will compete with NASCAR‘s best during the only NASCAR national series weekend of the New England racing season.

Competing in the Mohegan Sun 100, Baldwin will get his first taste of drafting in a Modified at the “Magic Mile” oval. He‘s no stranger to racing Modifieds over the last few years; he’s a 602 Modified champion at New Smyrna Speedway‘s World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing and already a Tour-Type Modified winner in a short time in 2024.

Baldwin is excited to take his talent north to New Hampshire to compete on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour.

“New Hampshire is a dream come true for sure,” Baldwin said. “Growing up, it was one of the coolest races to watch, so having the privilege to run this race is an incredible feeling. The Sadler-Stanley Racing team has a ton of momentum, and I know they‘ll bring a stout piece to New Hampshire.

“It wouldn’t be possible without my mom and dad, Sadler-Stanley Racing, Pace-O-Matic and PSR Products. I can‘t thank them enough. I‘m extremely grateful for this opportunity, and I can‘t wait to go have some fun.”

Hermie Sadler from SS Racing agrees that Baldwin is ready for the challenge.

“It was pretty evident to me early on this season that Luke has ‘it’ for us,” Sadler said. “His ability to do things like adapt to our cars, more horsepower, new tracks, to get that extra speed for qualifying, knowing when to be aggressive and when to save… he is just mature beyond his years. Taking him to a track like New Hampshire was the logical next step for his development.”

The Mohegan Sun 100 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway is set for Saturday, June 22. Practice and qualifying will take place Friday, June 21. Saturday’s race will be shown live on FloRacing when it takes the green flag around 6:30 p.m. ET.

Fans can follow Luke Baldwin across all social media accounts. For more information on Sadler-Stanley Racing, visit Sadler-StanleyRacing.com and follow the team on Facebook at SS Racing for the latest updates, including from the track on race day.

England slammed for choosing to ignore UEFA with travel plans for Euro 2024

England will fly out to Germany and to two of their three matches in the group stages at Euro 2024 after choosing to base themselves in a remote part of the country

Gareth Southgate, Manager of England

  • 07:00, 4 Jun 2024
  • Updated 10:52, 4 Jun 2024

England have caused a stir after choosing to fly in the face of UEFA’s sustainability push for Euro 2024 with their travel plans for the tournament.

Gareth Southgate’s side are staying at the five-star Spa & GolfResort Weimarer Land , in east Germany, for the Euros. While it boasts two full-sized pitches and a golf course on its grounds, the luxury resort is also very remote, which creates problems in planning travel to their three Group C fixtures and for any further knockout matches.

England begin their campaign against Serbia in Gelsenkirchen on Sunday, June 16 before facing Denmark in Frankfurt four days later and concluding the group stages against Slovenia in Cologne on Tuesday, June 25. All three of those cities are in the west of Germany, but England decided to base themselves in the east, with the FA shelling out around £800,000 to base the squad at a resort it hopes will provide the perfect relaxed and secluded environment for the players.

Germany used sustainability as a key factor when bidding to host the tournament and is now billing Euro 2024 as the most sustainable Euros ever. The government has spent £27million on green initiatives which include encouraging the 2.7m fans expected to attend not to drive by discounting train tickets and even reducing parking spaces at stadiums.

UEFA has embraced the idea and its environment, social and governance (ESG) strategy for the tournament states that it will “require team transport [to be by] train or coach in Germany”. Teams had to submit their travel plans to UEFA by February 24, but England’s falls some way short of the stated goals.

England have committed to drive the 282km from their training base to the Denmark game in Frankfurt, with an estimated journey time of just over three hours. But Mirror Football understands they will be flying to Gelsenkirchen and Cologne to play Serbia and Slovenia respectively. The nearest airport to their base is 48km away in Erfurt-Weimar and flying will save them from the 369km coach trip to play Serbia and the 393km journey for the Slovenia match.

If you can't see the poll, click here

UEFA says that regionalised group games will result in a 75 per cent reduction in flights as compared to Euro 2016. But while UEFA have encouraged teams to spurn flying in favour of taking a more environmentally-friendly low-emission coach or by jumping on a train, they have not made it compulsory.

Their message to teams made it clear that flying was fair game for any journey more than three hours. England’s decision not to choose a training base on UEFA’s official list of options in the west of the country made flying almost inevitable, given the focus on minimising journey time to aid player recovery. The team have stressed that they are in accordance with UEFA's guidelines.

If the tournament goes to plan for Southgate then there will likely be more flying involved in the knockout stages , given the location of the matches. If the Three Lions top Group C then they will play their last-16 match in Gelsenkirchen, with victory in that match sending them to Dusseldorf for the quarter-finals. A potential semi-final would be in Dortmund, while the final on July 14 will be in Berlin.

All of this is understandable, but remains disappointing for environmental campaigners, who would like elite footballers to set an example. A group of 13 NGOs wrote to Southgate and his fellow Euro 2024 coaches in March to implore them to make a stand against short-haul flights.

They received just two positive responses, with hosts Germany and Switzerland the only sides to confirm that they won’t be flying during the group stages of Euro 2024. That represents a missed opportunity, with research by campaign group Transport & Environment finding that teams could cut their CO2 emissions by nearly 60 per cent just by avoiding flights in the group stages. That figure jumps to a huge 96 per cent for England if they didn’t fly out to Germany and around the country during the group stages.

Travel Smart campaigner Erin Vera said: “UEFA and the hosts Germany have put a lot of effort into cutting transport emissions around the tournament, making it the greenest championships ever. This shows what can be done. Disappointingly the national teams are so far failing to lead by example. If teams choose to avoid taking the plane for journeys that could reasonably be taken by train or coach, they can drastically slash their emissions.”

General Election show on the road as parties launch battle buses

Labour and the Conservatives both launched their battle buses on the weekend.

Political parties have taken to the road this weekend as the General Election battle bus tours get underway.

Saturday morning started in West London, where Labour deputy leader Angela Rayner launched her 5,000-mile UK tour, with help from party leader Sir Keir Starmer and shadow chancellor Rachel Reeves.

The trio was in Uxbridge, where voters went to the polls in July last year. Following the departure of former prime minister Boris Johnson, the Conservatives held on to the seat at a by-election by 495 votes.

Winner Steve Tuckwell will once again face Labour’s Danny Beales in the poll on Thursday July 4.

Labour’s bus is a brand-new, 73-reg Yutong coach – and it’s ultra low emission zone (Ulez) compliant, so did not incur a charge in Uxbridge. The word “Change” – the party’s General Election slogan – appears on the bright red bus more than 30 times.

“I’m reliably told it has got a fridge in the back of it, so check that Boris Johnson isn’t in there,” Sir Keir said at its launch. Mr Johnson hid in a fridge to avoid a TV interview in the run-up to the 2019 election.

The Labour leader told supporters: “All week (Ms Rayner has) been showing me photographs of her bus and now I’ve come to see this fantastic bus.

“It’s rather like Tory defectors. You wait for ages and then three come along in a row.”

The party will use its bus to champion its “power up” agenda, which could become a successor to the Conservatives’ flagship “levelling up” thread if Labour is able to form a government next month.

Ms Reeves said “powering up” means “wherever you come from, whatever your start in life, you have the very best opportunities and potential, and powering up too so that our economy can fulfil its potential”.

As midday approached, Rishi Sunak launched his bus in Redcar on the Yorkshire coast – home turf for the Conservative Prime Minister who will contest the new Richmond and Northallerton seat, within 10 miles of the town.

Conservative incumbent Jacob Young will go up against former Labour MP Anna Turley in Redcar.

The Mercedes-Benz Tourismo features the party’s General Election slogan – “clear plan, bold action, secure future”.

Once the transport for Oxford United, before the football team’s promotion to the EFL Championship, the vehicle is also Ulez-compliant.

In his Teesside speech, Mr Sunak took aim at his Labour rivals.

The party leader said: “Just see what’s happened over this Diane Abbott situation. And it confirms what we know about him: it’s that he doesn’t stick by anything he says, just constantly changes his mind.

“And it’s clear that Angela Rayner is in charge of the Labour Party and not him.”

The Liberal Democrats’ yellow coach has been rolling on the roads throughout the first full week of General Election campaigning.

Party leader Sir Ed Davey unveiled Yellow Hammer 1 in Whittlesford, near Cambridge – a Van Hool emblazoned with the words “Liberal Democrats for a fair deal”.

Launching the tour last Sunday (May 26), he made reference to hospitals “with dangerous crumbling roofs” and “sewage pouring into” wards and promised to introduce a 10-year rolling repair programme for the NHS estate.

He told supporters: “I’m not putting a ceiling on our ambitions.”

Reform UK began its campaign tour on an open-top bus this week.

Honorary president Nigel Farage was aboard in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, on Saturday with candidate and former Conservative MP Lee Anderson.
